Steph - the NHS has failed me so I paid £150 for my crooked British smile.

Charmalars - the soothing sounds of crickets are most welcome. but it's just not cricket like the sound of willow on leather ;)

Stephanie said...

The NHS failed you, Elias? How did that happen? You mean socialized medicine isn't perfect?

Anonymous said...

The NHS is mental. You pay National Insurance every month as contribution towards a health service that's 100's of millions of pounds in debt, then you have to wait 4 hours to get a fucking x-ray when you break your arm. One was not amused.

Anonymous said...

Elias - you're English and talking in a nostalgic way about cricket? Why would we need to do that when we have such a stand-up, top class national team?

Anonymous said...

btw, i was being sarcastic.

am i supposed to laugh histerically when the "prepare to be blow away" intro plays? because i always do. it's just so perfectly cornball. whose voice is that?

PalmerEldritch said...

elias and jellyman, from a young age we americans are beaten over the head by the media with the idea of how crappy our health care system is and how much better off we'd be with Socialized Medicine. nice to know that your system sucks too and that politicians will always find a way to screw health care up no matter what kind of system is in place!

/if i get sick, get me Dr. Gregory House. and some hot nurses.

back when we started up the regular show, i had asked Craig (you may have heard of him) if he could do me a favor. And that was if he could make me an over produced opening for our show. He said that it wouldnt be a problem then asked me to write it. I told him that i wanted to have it done it WAY over the top. So i wrote up everything that you hear. Craig got some guy from his work and had him record the lines and then craig put in all the sound effects. There are 4 different versions of the opening, and i try cycle them out. I have only used the 4th version, which has a part that i did not write, only one time. i Believe that one was used on The Cost of Living.

It is totally supposed to make you laugh, it makes me laugh everytime.

kablamo #23,

and a happy mother's day to all you muthas out there on the blogspot.

hey, I've been away for a while, bso what was the consensus about whether or not Locke is a goner? What do you think about the three "mini" season to end the series?

Personally, I think I'd rather just have two full seasons, but I can see why abc wouldn't be down with that.

ciao

PastPablo said...

Hey Denass, I think the overall concensus is that Locke is gonna pull thru, 1 way or another. I'm fine with 3 mini seasons also. I wouldn't MIND 2 full seasons, but it kinda prolongs the inevitable, wich softens the blow of losing the greatest show EVER!

Stephanie said...

On one hand, I'm afraid I'll lose respect if Locke doesn't die. Can I say Jump the Shark?
But then, he's my favorite character and will really miss him.
I want to see Locke die but TOQ not leave the show.
3 mini-seasons vs 2 whole seasons- whatever gives us the more quality product is what I prefer.

Anonymous said...

slow day at the blogspot.

Jordan said...

Steph, I'm kinda with you on what it might mean if Locke survives. I don't know if that alone would be a shark jump, but like I said after the episode, I'm worried that things going all over the top paranormal/supernatural might be what does it.

If Locke survives or comes back to life, then for all we know Boone, Shannon, Eko, Nikki, or Paulo could all come back to life at some point. What's to say that couldn't happen? If there's a man who hasn't aged in 40 years, why can't Paulo raise from the dead? I understand that this show has always had it's mysteries which obviously leaned toward the inexplicable. But there was always that uncertainty that kept you from just assuming everything was crazy and had no logic behind it. I'm just affraid that the show is going a little too fantastic, if that's the right word. From now on, instead of trying to make sense of the mysteries, you'll just go, "Well, I guess it's some magical something behind it." Yeah, that doesn't mean it's automatically a bad show. I'll still watch of course. Just that a little part of me is worried that the writers wrote themselves into a corner or dead end and have now turned to the over the top crazy for the explanations that everybody has been waiting for. I really don't think this was the intent of the writers during the first season.

But that's just my opinion right now. Next episode could change it all once again. I still like the show a good deal. I'm just a tad bit concerned, that's all. Lost still rocks. Don't feel the need to rip me a new one. ;)

Saturdays are always slow on the blogspot. I suppose that it's because people aren't at work and have free time. Not me, unfortunately.

Ralph, I got curious and listened to the opening of the Cost of Living podcast....you should use that opening more often.

Jordan said...

PS - I really hate being evenly slightly negative when everybody else is so over the top enthused. Sorry if I'm bumming anyone out. Not my intent.

Sir William Osler, MD said...

Jordan, your not being a downer. You have your opinion, which is great. Actually, I used to completely agree with you, regarding the whole "magic" thing. I don't feel as strongly about it now, but I still want there to be a somewhat reasonable explanation for everything, which is why I'm vehemently opposed to the idea of there being two timelines. However, I'm willing to give Cuselof the benefit of the doubt, regarding the whole Jacob thing. I trust them enough that I believe there will eventually some sort of explanation to why Jacob is (somewhat) invisible. What I'm saying is that you shouldn't make up your mind until everything plays out.

Jordan said...

Oh I totally agree. It's just with a show like Lost it's almost impossible to not jump to conclusions.

Funny, I can't help but think of Office Space any time I hear or say "jump to conclusions". lol.

PalmerEldritch said...

regarding Locke:

it's already part of established LOST lore that people heal quickly on the Island. it's already been established that Locke is the KingOfIslandHealing. one lousy bullet to the gut's not going to put down Locke... i hope.

also, Jacob wants Locke's help for something (getting rid of Ben?). i wouldn't be surprised if either Jacob helped Locke or if Alpert was following them since he knows what Ben's capable of. heck, i wouldn't be all that surprised if Ol' Smokey showed up to help Locke. :p

Unknown said...

Hey Eveyone. I do not like how the show sounds. I found out today, that i have been putting the show out at a lesser quality. I am going to delete the episode and repost it.

You can keep your current version, or delete it and upload the newer, better sounding version.

Give me an hour or so before it goes up.

Jordan said...

How does it sound? What's wrong?

Stephanie said...

The sound quality of the podcast is fine and I kinda have high standards when it comes to audio.

PalmerEldritch said...

totally didn't notice any issues with audio. but can't say that i'd complain if it got even better!

thanks for raising the bar, ralph.

Ralph- said...

to me it sounds like our levels are to loud, or that we are talking from WW2 equipment. so just hang tight. it wont sound Phenominal, but it will please me knowing that it is better sounding.

Next week's episode will sound amazing, now that i have gotten some insight from Jay.

good thing to, i would have hated going through the whole season not doing the show to its fullest potential.

The Dharmalars said...

**This Message Has The Dharmalars Stamp Of Approval**

It has not been announced on our show yet, but the dharmalars will NOT be doing shows during the Hiatus.

In place of the Dharmalars there should be a weekly podcast known as "The Lars". The Lars will be a non lost podcast that is dedicated to all things pop-culture. There will be no format per-se but there will be shows. Ralph, Ben and Jimmy have all discussed the hiatus plans and we will do a pretty relaxed podcast without a format. If you were around last summer you will know how the shows go. No Chapters, No Lost news, No Boundaries. We will keep the Dharmaline open for You All Everybody, so if you want to hear lost content it is up to You All to drop us a line and share some news.

The Dharmalars will return for a LOST filled episode from SanDiego Comic Con and the Lost panel Q&A. We may also do a Dharmalars show when i get my hands on another "Advanced Copy" of the Season 3 DVD set. Look for that show a week before the DVDs are released.

Other than that. Imagine our first segment on our current Dharmalars Cast, multiply that by 4 and you will get "The Lars" A Non-Lost Podcast.

ralph-

Ralph- said...

By the way. All of our NonLost shows from last summer are all still available for download over at DharmalarsPodcast.blogspot.com . All you have to do is Right Click the Link and Save File. you can get every single recording that we ever published, ALL 42 of them.

Stephanie said...

ralph-, my heart stopped for a second while reading the first sentence. Please take tons and tons of footage from ComicCon for those of us who are too freakin far away to attend.

Jordan, a podcast I jst discovered. This guy is like bipolar.

Jordan said...

Awesome news Ralph!

Like Steph, you threw me for a loop with your misdirection line. Good one.

Some of my favorite podcasts are the ones that get the most off topic. So I'm sure I'll love The Lars. Half the time I listen to the Dharmalars and you guys go, "So should we get to lost?" I'm all like, "No! Continue talking about nonsense!" lol.

And thanks again Steph for tha Bruce Willis link. It is so slow here at work right now, I highly needed that. I actually went into the actual talkbacks on the site and read the conversations the people were having with, "Walter B". It was hilarious when they were all doubting he was really Bruce Willis and calling him a chump. Good stuff. Very funny reading Bruce Willis rip on Michael Bay. That made my day.

PalmerEldritch said...

ralph, i'll be looking forward to The 'Lars over the summer. let us know when the podcast is reposted.

Jordan said...

If anybody has some time on their hands and wants a good laugh, read the talkback blog where the Ainitcoolnews bloggers encountered Bruce Willis.

It is hilarious to read everybody calling him out and mocking him, only to have BW call them out and dare them to video chat with him. Then once he proves its him, they all kiss his ass. Funny stuff.

Could you imagine somebody from Lost doing that here? lol.

Stephanie said...

This might be a stupid question, but who is Harry?
The Last Boyscout is my favorite Walter B movie.
Good night, Jordan. I'm breakin out of this joint.

Jordan said...

And from what I could make of it, Harry is the dude who runs the web site.

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, harry runs the site. GIS him at your own peril, Harry Knowles.

most people make fun of the guy for his considerable weight issues and his red hair. but if you actually read his reviews, you'll make fun of him for his god-awful reviews. if anyone remembers his review of Blade II, then you'll know what i'm talking about. avoid harry's reviews.

And what a punk to post such shit anonymously. I hope it isn't somebody we know and just some lame dork. I'm better on the latter.

Stephanie said...

We have plans to see Spiderman Wednesday but I'm not excited. I'm kinda spidied out or over-exposed. We've watched one and two while getting dressed for school over the last few weeks. I doubt I'll be able to talk my superhero-obsessed little one into seeing anything else.
Scene/unseen mentioned Bruce Campbell might play Mysterio in Spiderman 4. I've been reserching it this morning and can't find anything substantial to the rumor.

Stephanie said...

Thanks palmer. It's nice to get a little recognition once a year for the other 364 days.

Jordan said...

Bruce Campbell is hilarious in a cameo in 3. He plays a French maitre d' at a Restaurant.

It would be interesting if he played a bad guy in 4. He would be great because he's good with that type of stuff. But it would be a bit weird as he has been in all three so far with small bit parts different in each film.

Stephanie said...

That's what I thought too, Jordan.

PalmerEldritch said...

anyone played any of the Spider-Man video games based on the movies? Bruce Campbell is the narrator and is hilarious as he berates you while explaining your objectives and abilities. i really hope he's the narrator for Spider-Man 3: The Game. i'm saving up for a next generation console and that is one of the first games i'll be getting.

Jordan said...

Has anybody here seen a movie called, "Sympathy for Mr. Vengence"?

Anonymous said...

"Sympathy For Mr. Vengence" is actually my favorite of the Chan Wook Park's 'Vengence' trilogy (Sympathy For Mr. Vengence, Oldboy, Sympathy For Lady Vengence). They're all pretty great, and everyone has a different favorite, but IMO "Sympathy For Mr. Vengence" is the strongest structurally and thematically.

my plan to accumulate lost podcasts for the hiatus is working out well. I'll have quite a bit of Lost content to tide me over between Jay & Jack, Lostcasts, Blackrock, and Lost Lowdown, not to mention the 'Lars and ramblecast. My unproductivity should only take a small dip.

Stephanie - i liked "Everything Is Illuminated" quite a bit. I'm not super sold on Frodo as an actor since his glassy eyes always lull me into a daze but the film was fun and touching in all of the right places

new Sopranos tonight! They've got to be ramping it up for the finale now.

Mike Campbell said...

Carnivale was ok. First season much better then the second. It was never finished so the show leaves a lot of questions but i enjoyed it.

Jordan said...

Save yourself the trouble Elias. Don't waste your time with Carnival. At first it's quite intriguing and you think it might get good. The problem is it never does. And it takes you an entire season to realize that. I hated that show.

I love me some commando. After you guys mentioned that movie I watched it again. It's still hilarious.

"hey sully, remember when I promised to kill you last?"

"yeah man you did say that"

"I lied" He then drops sully to his death. When he sees Rae Dawn Chong again (who was looking hot BTW) she asks. "what happened to sully?"

He responds of course "I let him go"

And that steel drum music theme in the movie must have been used in 5 or 6 different movies. It sounds so familiar but I can't remember where else I heard it.

Thanks for the memories and another great podcast.

i hope that Smokey tosses him around like a rag doll. i like Dominic Monaghan and all, and Charlie's 1000% less annoying than he was earlier, but Smokey's gotta kill someone soon. Eko said Smokey was gunna get all of our Lostaways and then all Smokey has done since was take Polaroids of Kate and Juliet soaking wet in the rain (that cheeky little monkey).

i just hope that it's not a lame death like falling while looking for a "Seabird."

Bob Barker news

Stephanie said...

Yeah, I want to see a great, heroic death like Isaac's or Eko's. Now, those are deaths I can appreciate.
I'm worried about Eric Robert's future on Heroes. It looks like HRG shoots him in the head tonight. Surely that's not what's gonna happen. If they don't do more with his character then they won't be using him to his potential. I just wonder if they signed him up for Linderman and then Malcolm McDowell came along. Eric Roberts didn't have a gig at the time and decided to take this less important role. He's just too good of a bad guy to play a mid-level manager.

Stephanie said...

How I Met Your Mother was so funny a couple of weeks ago. Barney grew up thinking Bob Barker was his father so he decided to go onto TPIR to meet him.

goofball - I'm pretty sure that steel drum music from Commando is used in 48 Hours, another 80s classic.

"You're a funny man, Sully, I like you. That's why I'm going to kill you last."

Steph - Most quoted movie around here is the greatest movie ever, Grosse Pointe Blank.

'Okay, well, I'll see you at the "I've peaked and I'm kidding myself" party'

Speaking of Dharmalars Episodes, You All Everybody is not my part of the show, it is YOUR part of the show. Anyone has the right to call the Dharmaline and leave us a voice mail! ANYONE. i have played Every call that i have recieved (with the exception of one caller who sounded like he was 10 years old) and will continue to post ALL CALLS.

If a call goes on too long, that is the fine with me. The purpose of YOU ALL EVERYBODY is so that people can talk about what is on their mind.

If you insult one of our listeners, you insult all of them! Dre has been a listener of our show for a long time and i love that he leaves his messages. He is only one of the many fans that speak their minds on the segment and i appreciate all the callers taking the time to entertain me.

When you come in here and insult one of the fans of the Dharmalars and The Lost Initiative, you are insulting ALL of us. And this isnt the type of page where we let something like that just fly by without any kind of retaliation.

This is a tight knit group that looks out for each other as well as welcomes newcomers with open arms. this is not a web page about hate. it is about FUN. A lot of us post with our real names and if we dont, we pretty much know everybody's real name. so it seems pretty chicken shit to come in and talk shit without introducing yourself first.

Jordan said...

"This is a web page about fun, not hate."

Jordan said...

Steph, I dunno if Thompson is going to die. But it wouldn't surprise me if he did. A lot of people are saying that a lot of the current cast won't be around after this season. That next season will be a whole new story. If that's the case, killing off a bunch of characters at the end of this season would make sense. Personally, I hope they don't kill off too many people. Like on Lost, the characters are a big part of the reason people got into the show.

PalmerEldritch said...

Eric Roberts not being on Heroes wouldn't break my heart. Seems like he's a disposable bad guy.

Stephanie said...

Did you learn that word from the OLP, palmer? I never heard it before, I was just wondering exactly how ignorant I am?

Season finale of The Office this week. Can't wait to see where Pam's new path leads.

Predator stars two governors? OMG, what does this say about our country?

Anonymous said...

my brother and i kept a tally of how many people died in Commando. I think it was something like 147.

Predator is an awesome movie, but everything else in the Predator franchise is complete poop.

so... Lost... the hostiles took out the main dharma barracks but zoological island wasn't shown, so i'm still theorizing that there was a resistance group of Dharma survivors, that Annie was safe with them, and that they turned the swan hatch into a doomsday device.

anonymously yours,

Stephanie said...

Jordan, Tim Kring said he originally wanted to kill off the entire cast and start over ever season but he's since changed his mind because the cast is such a hit. I guess they realize now we have to get emotionally hooked to really get into the show. Or is it just me?

PalmerEldritch said...

heheheheheh. not from the OLP, steph. it was one of those words that i'd understand in print because of the context but would only mostly understand when spoken. then a few years back, i got it all sorted out. probably because the girlfriend was an English major.

Happy Birthday again, Ally.

Happy Others Day, everybody.

Ahhhh, monday, feel's good to be back in the swing of things. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Question: Is it safe to assume that this "Jacob's list" we've heard reference to, is in actuality "Ben's list that he's passing off as Jacob's list"? Hmm...

memphish said...

Pablo, Good question. On the one hand, it seems it would be easy for Ben to pass off a list as being "Jacob's list." But as a counter-argument, why wouldn't Jack be on that list given that Ben needed Jack to heal him after the "failure" of the Island or Jacob to heal him. Seems like it would have been easier to put Jack on a list your faking than not.

Holli

mb said...

HAPPY (reaaally early) BIRTHDAY JORDAN!!!
(get it out there now - I'm not screwing up another birthday dammit ;) )

Pablo - very possible. It would seem that he could tell the Others just about anything and how would they prove him wrong when it comes to the word of Jacob?

mb said...

Holli - true
Maybe Jacob knew Locke was coming and was going to let Ben die

PalmerEldritch said...

very nifty theory, ben and mb. i also liked andrew's theory which i can't remember now.

HAPPY BIRTHTOMORROW, KIM! in celebration, sing yourself happy birthday next podcast. or at least the Ewoks theme. :)

Good question Holli, my best response would be to say: Maybe Ben turned in the list before he found out that he would actually need jack (Didn't he find out about the tumour the same day the plane crashed? or the day after etc?. So if you run with that assumption, he couldn't very well say OH hey Richard, I know Jacob the infallible turned in 1 list already, but he forgot to mention this Jack guy, can you hand it over whilst I scribble his name down? Makes sense to me...

PastPablo said...

MB, that's what I was thinking.

ITV Monday Movie: Predator. Classy scheduling.

Goodnight all and enjoy Heroes (those who enjoy Heroes).

PastPablo said...

This is probably super late (since I'm new here) but

http://www.thehansofoundation.org//

I'd never been there or seen that before. Thought it was interesting

PalmerEldritch said...

Pablo, that site is pretty fun. it was the jumping off point for an Alternate Reality Game last summer. The Lost Experience

it started off strong and then kind of became lackluster.

anyhow, it was all Hanso related and talked about the numbers and whatnot. it also had a character named Rachel Blake who ended up crashing ComicCon last year.

and she's good looking too, so that's cool.

does anyone know if you can still log in to the Hanso Foundation website and play around with Joop and the passwords and whatnot?

memphish said...

Hey Aimee, What if Alpert's non-aging is because he's "the Man from Mars?"

Holli

mb said...

Nope - the Hanso website has had a message from Alvar Hanso up for most of this season I think.

However, if you drag your mouse over the center of the words, a weird sound plays and you can faintly hear a man's voice in the background. If you right click in the center there (I assume its the same for Mac and PC), a popup menu comes up with an option to 'play'. It's a message from Thomas Mittelwerk talking about having 'the virus' and 'I will not fail'. This all ties into the Lost Experience from last summer, and the ever comprehensive Lostpedia of course has a full rundown of what happened with Mittelwerk and Rachel Blake and all that.

I only know this because of Aimee (the human Lost encyclopedia) who rooted this all out after one of my first emails to TLI.

mb said...

The part of that statement from Hanso on the site where he says:
"The work of the Hanso Foundation has always been intended to bring rebirth to a dying land and a dying people"

is starting to make more sense now - I wonder if it means that Alpert and co. are not immortal, or if Hanso just thinks that they are dying because of the fertility issue.

Jon said...

Since there's Lost and Heroes talk going on here, I thought I'd post a little story incorporating the two:
A couple weeks ago I woke up with terrible food poisoning. I was watching random crap on tv and "Crossing Jordan" came on. I knew Lindelof was involved with it, so I thought I'd watch. Anyway, just so happens that the episode I saw was co-written by Lindelof and Tim Kring! F-ing great, right?! I mean, they both have created some amazing shows recently, so I assume they did the same with this particular episode of Crossing Jordan. Wrong. It was by far one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Seriously. Maybe it was because Jerry O'Connell was featured prominently, but the writing was awful. I guess they both found their niches with Lost and Heroes though...and we're all very grateful for that.

Anonymous said...

Erm... sorry to be a killjoy... but, when is the new TLI going to appear... I want my fix.. :/

PalmerEldritch said...

mb, did that caffeine nap thing work at all? i've never tried it but i sure have read about it.

mainly waiting, kim dropped by the thread to say she hoped to have TLI up sometime Tuesday but that she had been busy all weekend. and it's her birthday soon i hear, so we'll just have to patiently wait.

no lost podcast from DPP lately, eh? hmmm...

i am getting seriously psyched about Lostnesday night. think Locke will show up riding a Polar Bear and save our Beachies?

Ah... that's good

i was starting to think she had forgotten about us. ;__;

Tuesday TLI will be fine with me. I seem to have trouble getting my mind back on Lost after a great Heroes. I need a reminder.
Hey, let me tell ya about my kid. She thinks Sylar has already eaten Claude's brain since Agent Hanson turned around and he disappeared whilst still talking to her.
BTW, I'm refusing my birthday this year. No thanks, I don't want any more. I've had enough.

Trevor McFur said...

stephanie--

Your kid might be right; I thought the same thing. You would think that would have been a development that they might have, you know, mentioned, though? Doesn't Sylar have some sort of flying power? I'm thinking of that ep where Audrey and Matt confront him, and he kind of slides up the side of the building to escape.

I guess that they can give Sylar whatever power they want, and just say, "Oh, he picked it up along the way somewhere".

PalmerEldritch said...

Sylar's a teek so he could just use it to pick himself up and fly around. I hope Peter starts using his telekinesis more. That's one of the greatest powers around if you use it right. Need super strength? Use your telekinesis. Need to stop bullets? Telekinesis. Fly? Telekinesis. The list goes on and on.

I hope Claude didn't get his brains eaten. That guy's the man. He's probably hanging out Tijuana (eating barbecued iguana) waiting for the bomb to go off.

Man, oh man. 24 was actually pretty exciting and Heroes was fantastic. And we've still got LOST and The Office this week. Yeesh!

And next week, it's all the two hour finale's right? My brain may just asplode.

mb said...

Steph,
I like your idea - refuse birthdays. Just don't have 'em. Maybe that's what Richard and co. did.

Happy Birthday (whenever it is)!

mb said...

Palmer -
I was just joking earlier about going to my car - lol. My bosses are cool - but I don't think I could quite do that.
Plus - with only 2hrs sleep last night, I don't think anything would've woken me up once I was out.

I AM going to try it sometime though!

Trevor McFur said...

Is it a 2-hour finale next week? Sweeeeet.

Wasn't online today, and I couldn't read through all of the posts, so sorry for the repeat if this has already been brought up, but did everyone hear that Heroes got a THIRTY episode committment for next season? The part that's a little worrisome to me is that, from what I understand, the story itself will be 24 episodes, with another six following that are, I guess, standalone episodes, each introducing a new Hero. Then, they'll have a vote to see which new Hero joins the cast for the third year. Sounds to me kind of like a cheesy stunt, but I hope they can make it work. I also hope that the story doesn't become too drawn out because of the extra episodes.

Stephanie said...

Holy Crap, Sopranos! Tony is an evil, evil person- in case there were any doubts.

PalmerEldritch said...

well, 24 has a two hour finale. lost has a two hour finale as well, right?

not sure about heroes but i sure hope so.

quick someone figure it all out for me! :p

Anonymous said...

Palmer,

I don't know how Heroes could wrap everything up in only 1 hour. I was listening to the 10th wonder, and they both THOUGHT that Heroes would be 2 hours next week, but neither of them knew for sure.

I can't wait for next week, and then for the week after so I can have a little bit of my life back.

I am seriously getting sick of these networks and their horrible preview teasers. I won't say anything if you were smart enough to avoid the Heroes trailer tonight. But if you did see it, you know what I'm talking about. Whatever happened to saving things for the episodes? Starting next year I'm thinking I may need to go dark on the next week teasers.

Monday night movie on ITV over here in rainyland? Predator! Fucking cool, and for a moment i thought a little spooky that Renph mentioned it on the dharmalars this week, but it ain't that spooky because for 75% of all of his time, Ralph is talking about Predator anyway. So eventually it was bound to end up being shown on telly, like Anthony Cooper was bound to be Sawyer if we all kept talking about it. I vote we all start talking about seeing Juliet's boobs more....

Happy Birthday Kim!

memphish said...

Palmer (and other Heroes watchers),

Finale for Heroes is only 1 hour.

Trevor, the idea of 30 hours of Heroes is mind-boggling. But anything that keeps Deal or No Deal off the air is good in my book. How do people watch that show? I'm surprised at NBC's big commitment to Heroes given how much viewership dropped during this last break. Their numbers have been lower than LOSTs at least the last 2 weeks.

Today we should find out what day and time LOST will air next year (and I do mean next year -- Feb 2008.)

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

happy birthday, kim! happy kim's birthday, aimee!

holli, only a one hour finale for Heroes? that blows. at least it ought to be action packed, eh? well, better be. although, a LOT was packed into last night.

rock n roll superstar name generator tomorrow? 80s hair band name generator?

PalmerEldritch said...

oh!

we'll need a HOBBIT name generator too. :p

memphish said...

You can read the transcript of the whispers that are heard when Ben sees his mom on the other side of the fence at night.

Holli

memphish said...

Palmer, I figure we've got Hobbit names, band names or British names we can go for. Also, if discussion gets slow today we could talk about our favorite One Hit Wonders.

Holli

memphish said...

Maybe the eyeliner is what allows Alpert to manifest himself to Ben and everyone else and if we just got Jacob to Sephora we'd all be able to see him too.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

holli, i guess then that Locke must have been a Stylist or Makeup Artist in one of his previous jobs of the week. he can get flashes of Jacob and hear his voice by envisioning him in his completed makeup ensemble.

Anonymous said...

did anyone else catch that the 'Watcher' system on heroes was on the 42nd floor? More homage perhaps?

Holli - please don't do British names, i already have one. Or were you thinking ironic-type British names like Austin Healey (very few people will get that - Elias might) or Robert Robbie Robertson?

Trevor McFur said...

Jordan--

I noticed the same exact thing with the Heroes preview last night. Usually, their previews aren't so spoilery, so I was pretty POed last night.

They need to do a better job with Matt's power. In the space of 30 seconds last night, he used his mind reading power to realize that Eric Roberts was waiting to get the drop on them, then got surprised by Eric Roberts, then got surprised AGAIN by Mohinder. His power doesn't have an off switch, I think ... so he couldn't figure out that Mohinder was hiding behind that door waiting to smash him on the head? Inconsistencies like that drive me batty ... otherwise a great episode!

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, Heroes Previews are suckalicious. way too spoilery. you can figure out who survives the cliffhangers and who gets shot. meh!

at least LOST Previews aren't quite that bad.

Anonymous said...

..and has anyone seen this site - http://www.longlostlist.net/ ? It's ridiculous - good whisper breakdowns, but they've got transcripts of every episode! Who the hell has time to do all that??

Trevor McFur said...

I think they've straightened out the Lost previews since the 'Three questions will be answered!' debacle earlier this season...

PalmerEldritch said...

jellyman, never underestimate the power of nerds on the internets.

as nerdy as we are posting about LOST on a blogspot thread, there is ALWAYS a bigger nerd.

in this case, it's a nerd writing up transcripts while feverishly pausing and unpausing his tivo. god bless him cuz now we can look up obscure lines of dialogue to support our wacky theories.

Trevor McFur said...

So who's the bigger nerd to the TiVo-pausing nerd?

PalmerEldritch said...

there's probably a guy who's named his kid after the Smoke Munster.

PalmerEldritch said...

and if not, then i'll race you to be the first.

Trevor McFur said...

Sorry, we already have names picked out when we have kids: for a boy, Mister Eko McFur. And if it's a girl, Ana-Lucia De Ravin McFur.

PalmerEldritch said...

heheheh. awesome. but how come nobody names their kid Alvar?

can anyone get this bruce campbell video to play all the way through?

[ally] said...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIM!

memphish said...

Jellymanianos, I'll nix the brit names. Didn't we do that recently anyway.

I noticed the 42nd floor too, but then promptly forgot. Linderman was on 51 and I don't think we have a Micah floor number yet. I vote for 23.

Holli

P.S. Happy Birthday Kim!

I think I'll keep posting that all day.

Stephanie said...

One reason I'm glad I don't have HD- Hiro being trained in swordfighting in 15 minutes by his 80 year old father. Holli, how did it look?
Palmer, the video played for me.
Has anyone seen these Old Spice commercials?
mb, remember when we were trying to make ralph- feel better about turning 30? I was lying the entire time. My joints hurt when I move, I spot a new grey hair every time I look in the mirror, my clothes get tighter if I even look at a Little Debbie cake, I'm seriously considering starting a plastic surgery fund. Aging is not fun.
BTW, Happy Birthday Kimberley!

Anonymous said...

i'm not going to double check their work, but the whisper transcripts tht Holli linked are pretty interesting and suggestive.

The first few blocks didn't offer much but the block where Ben's Mom is on the other side of the electric fence (Don't Whiz On The Electric Fence) suggests to me that there are multiple consciences giving her instructions, and that they sent her to represent them.
So imagine disembodied people trying to project their influence to the island, but they could only manage to manifest one visual identity.
Depending on your take of the show they could be: dead people trying to reach the living, people from another time trying to reach the present, people from an alternate dimension trying to reach this dimension, gods/spirits/super-evolved people trying to reach this plane of existence, scientists communicating with their test subjects through a curtain of virtual reality...

it's a lot more out there than i'm ready for with Lost, but i'm pretty sure that previous whisper transcripts had the same theme of offscreen voices commenting about the characters from an observatory position. For some reason the line "tell him your his mother" really just struck a chord with me. It's sort of like the ending of Poltergeist with the mom and Carol Anne. Coach needs to crash on the island.

andrew.

PalmerEldritch said...

the video played fine for me in Internet Exploder but crapped out with my beloved Firefox. :(

yeah, steph, not sure how Hiro was trained by his dad in such short time. i was hoping that it'd be through his use of Time Travel. you know, spend a few months training, and then come back to five minutes after he left.

memphish said...

The best way to avoid gray is to be a blond.

Steph, I have to say I thought that Hiro and dad were kind of boring. I was never a Karate Kid, Kung Fu fan. If it's not Jin's foot connecting with a head in a roundhouse, I'm just not interested.

According to TV Squad LOST is going to remain on Wednesdays. Good thing since we've renamed Wed. Lostnesday. They haven't announced time slot though.
