Yay, new thread!

you can save Heroes until the DVDs to tide you over during the summer hiatus of LOST... or you could watch the whole thing before Monday and be caught up! :)

I still love Lost, but I have to say that right now Heroes has my attention a good deal more than lost. Nothing against Lost, it's just that Heroes is jam packed with stuff happening every single episode, while Lost is hit and miss right now. Heroes took a bit to get going, but once it did they have not had any filler eps. Lost seems to be giving us a filler ep every 3 or 4 eps right now. Which is ok, but compared to the nonstop thrill ride that has been Heroes is hard to match. Both are great shows though and have no need to compete against each other. We are lucky to have both.

At this point I'd save Heroes for Hiatusville. It does translate pretty well on the computer screen. I can't say the same for Friday Night Lights and its hand-held cameras. I love the show and missed one episode and needed dramamine to watch it online.

Can't wait to listen to Jimmy. Hope things are going well Jimmy.

Happy Birthday Elias!

happy birthday, elias!

I agree, mb or whoever you are.:)
Heroes has never had a filler episode. And we shouldn't, but it's just natural to compare the two shows. It's good to see the networks have realized their audience is bored with Dawson's Creek and According to Jim.

To answer Kirklain's question from the previous thread, I actually do "read" all the books. I don't just scan them. I don't know how I do it, I suppose an almost non-existent social life helps, and the fact that I only watch like, 3 tv shows per week (I count the Thursday comedy block as one show). So I just have a lot of time to read. Some of these books are just quick to finish because the stories are kind of like watching a movie. Others take a little longer to comprehend, so I have to spend more time concentrating on what I'm looking at (A Brief History of Time, etc).

And Heroes was fucking awesome last night. My brain hurt from trying to understand all the timeline bullshit, but it was so exciting!

I think that I'm firmly in the camp that's enjoying Heroes more this year than Lost ... but I can't say that would be true if this were only the first season of Lost. It's hard for any good show to maintain the momentum of a first great year. Also, if Lost hadn't been a hit, would there ever have been Heroes to begin with?

I think that Heroes is planning to wrap up this story arc at the end of this season, and start a new one next year. That might be why there seems to be so few fillers ... they're not trying to set up plot threads for 3 or 4 years from now.

woo hoo. yay for jimmy!

i cant wait for next week's tli to hear kimmie and amiee go off on that anonymous punk calling them out in the last thread. that should be fun. gotta luv the girls when they get perterbed.

and i think heroes blows. give me a break. its an xmen rip off done poorly and as a hacky soap opera. not worth your time kirklain. lost is it's daddy 5 times over.

and i dont know what to believe about this whole mb/morgan thing. are the girls just messing with him? cuz if so, its working. or is mb the master manipulator? looks like we got a ben/juliet/jack situation on our hands. who's playing who? tune in next time to tli.

i think we should pull back on the mbk's until the hiatus just a tad. but then again, i guess anything goes, right? whenever it is deemed appropriate i think we should do a mbk re: kim & aimee, but who would be the third? if i had to pick right now i'd marry kim and bang aimee. I don't know why, but I've developed a huge crush on Kim from the podcasts. Smart is sexy. And while I like Aimee too, I think that she might be trying to live with after awhile. Shes a bit intense for me. Which leads to the banging choice. Intense in that regard is good. And for kill I guess I'll have to go with Ralf.

Best show on tv besides lost...Ugly Betty. Heroes schmeroes.

My awesomely wonderful husband just came in from work and told me to check my email. I found the order confirmation for a new Dell computer. It should be here in a few days. Yay, Big Ed!

Kirklain said...

see i'm all for superheros... that's why i thought i'ld like this show, but due to missing the premiere and not really sitting and watching any of the first 10 or so... the ones i tried watching came at a blur and were a bit hard to get into (i need to be enthralled by the first 10mins to stay interested). I started with Lost on day one, and though i went away during season 2, i came back with season 3 and finding all these cool podcasts and blogs. So Heroes should be something worth contemplating over the Lost hiatus... i'll check out the DVDs when they come out.

As for the reading Aimee... wasn't a put down, just a little amazed you read so much so fast, clearly with good recollection!

And Rufus!!! you'ld marry Kim and bang Aimee... would that be the general consensus on the blogspot? how do you girls feel about that?!

Anonymous said...

kirklain--

Heroes really comes on strong the 2nd half of the season; if you're not enjoying it when you first start watching, stick with it, the reward is worth it. Don't listen to Rufus, he's obviously beyond help.

That's definitely not the consensus ... I'd marry Aimee and bang Kim. No social life, reads a lot, and likes the sauce sounds right up my alley.

PalmerEldritch said...

I couldn't marry Kim because I'm only 5'8" and I have a beard. Aimee's husband would probably beat the crap out of me if I tried anything with her...

So, I'd marry MB's bad twin (hopefully a twin sister), bang Mac, and kill any chance at self-respect.

Kirklain said...

"I couldn't marry Kim because I'm only 5'8" and I have a beard."

huh? she wants to marry a 7foot Yeti? or she likes the shaved look?... hang on that came out all wrong... anyways so how tall is Kim?

PalmerEldritch said...

she can't be all that tall because both her and aimee can fit in my iPod Mini.

wait... what?

Anonymous said...

come to think of it, i've never seen a picture of what kim looks like. maybe i should check that out before i decide to marry her. and what does she have against short guys with beards? cuz i'm 5'6" and have a 2 year old bear myself. maybe that crazy aimee is looking more appealing by the minute.

Kirklain said...

i don't think your bear really matters... unless it attacked her i guess

Jimmy said...

There should be a "Morgan Impersonation" sound off!

Jimmy said...

And bear cubs attract women!

elias said...

Thanks Palmer and Holli for the shout-out.

Can't wait Jimmy - are you checking the Champions League Semi? Penalties about to start.

Bears beat Battlestar Galactica!

Anonymous said...

I'm 5'10"... I need a tall man. Kirlain I prefer a the clean cut look, no need to be shaved. Facial hair is ok as long as it's neat.

Kimberly, can we see a picture?

And Heroes rules.

Yeah, I've been wondering the origin of the whole combining words thing came from.

kim, Look Around You

PalmerEldritch said...

but Rolph and Boner started it up over in these parts by mentioning "Thanks, ants. Thants." or some such many moons ago.

i checked out the Water skit because of them and i can say that the show is pretty damned funny.

Kirklain said...

5foot10!!??!

so you don't really use a helicopter then ;)

so by that description Jin is your man... he's tall isn't he? 'cause he's definitely not got the facial hair.

Anonymous said...

is that 5'10 in Canadian?

andrew.

Anonymous said...

lol...my driver's licence says I'm 180 cm tall, but that's too tall, I'm around 176 cm... like anyone really cares, I aparently sound like an Amazon

mb said...

Thanks Jimmy - hope all is well! Listening right now.

Kim and Aimee - It has gotten to the point with the Morgan debate now that I think we should start a Vegas line and start taking bets - we could all come out of this thing on top. (...see I want to say TWSS...but I resist)

Palmer - while I don't doubt you'd make a fine one-night 'companion' to Mac, I'm afraid he claims he is waiting on a 'mail order' Macbook 'companion' from Russia or some damn place, and says he's saving himself for the marriage. I think he's full of shit.

And, there's no way I can weigh in on any MBK with K&A - not appropriate with your bosses.

mb said...

Dammit - my bad twin is posting again. must change the deadbolt on that closet

Jordan said...

I can't comment on Kim and Aimee either. Let's just say that I think they are both super hot in their own ways. ;)

Heroes is awesome. And as much as I still am a Lostaholic, I have to admit that Heroes is more exciting right now. But like others have pointed out, it's easier when you are a hot hit show in your first season. But both are great shows. If you haven't checked Heroes out yet, I'd suggest to wait until Lost is finished. It will be much better that way. I'm trying to find a show that I haven't watched that's on dvd to get into during the hiatus. My ideas right now are Prison Break, Six Feet Under, and The Wire. Any thoughts on those?

mb said...

For those who are EXTREMELY spoiler free - if you find yourself in a grocery store or someplace that displays TV Guide prominently where you might accidentally glance and read the cover - you may want to avert your eyes - if my memory is correct, the cover text includes a minor SPOILER.

Although it is sometimes hard for me to keep track of what is still a spoiler and what isn't. I live in spoiler land so much I forget where we are sometimes.

Just thought I'd put out the warning to be safe.

mb said...

Jordan - you just read my mind re: Heroes. That is precisely my (and my wife's) plan during the hiatus. Are any of the DVD's out yet?

PalmerEldritch said...

oh holy crap.

MB = Mac Book?!

is Mac another of MB's split personalities?!

will the deception ever end? who is the man behind the curtain?!

Ralph- said...

Thanks for the heads up!!!

i think that i will also not head over to TV Cuide .com while i am at it.

PalmerEldritch said...

is this the Earl tv guide cover? or a new one? cuz we need our Earl to sniff along to this week's episode!

mb said...

Palmer - getting to know me is like opening one of those Russian nesting dolls...except there is no end!!! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The TV Guide is the "Finale Fever Preview" edition - I don't know if it's out today or ?? .
I THINK the dates on it are for next week - but I'm not positive.
The cover I saw a pic of had Josh Holloway's chest dominating it (calling Aimee...)

mb said...

BTW palmer - lmao at MB = MacBook - didn't even catch that.

mb said...

Correction people (sort of) - I'm looking at the TV Guide cover text again - and actually it could be referencing ANY of the shows they've got on the cover. So, it's pretty ambiguous.

Sorry - probably shouldn't have sounded the alarm so quickly.

memphish said...

Better to be safe than sorry MB. I'm not sure how that applies to Josh Holloway's chest.

Hey MB,

The comparison you did was VERY incriminating. But I don't care if you are calling in with fake praise for yourself. I like the way you do your segment. It's entertaining and you get some great spoilers. Keep it up.

Seriously, the voice did sound different and I like the way you stepped in and handled the spoiler part of the podcast.
