Of course I meant "bitches" in the nicest, most non-offensive way that it could possibly be taken.

I always like the music in Dhamalars. I recently bought a Combustable Edison CD on the strength of hearing it on the podcast. You you should do a music podcast over the break, guys. Music and comics.

I sure haven't the time to keep up with the huge blog-explosion, so I don't know if this has been covered, but I find the name of the Dharma station: The Looking Glass, very intriguing. In Alice through the Looking Glass, The looking glass was the entrance way to another world, a distorted version of the real world, through which Alice passed. In Lost I think it's the other way round. Our heroes are already in the distorted mirror world and the Looking Glass is the way back to the "real world".

My thinking is this. We know that there's something very fishy about how the Mittlos/Others get to and from the Island. Something about the journey had to be hidden from Juliet, and that hidden thing might be that there's a direct connection between the Looking Glass and Mittlos Bio in Portland. Some time/space portal direct to the Looking Glass, from where people finish the journey in the sub. Hence Ben's lie to Juliet about the Looking Glass being flooded.

Too SF for Lost, you say. Well it will depend on the story treatment on how credible something like this would be in the overall narrative. So far even the most fantastic aspects of Lost have worked well, so I don't see how this wouldn't work.

Hitchcock - kinda British. Lovely stuff.

-for those that are curious about the heroes, can't wait for the DVD release and don't need to leave the house today, there's a Heroes marathon on the Sci-Fi channel today (Saturday) starting at 9am. every episode except 1.8 (don't know why).
i'm going to hold off, going to see a baseball game.

-the Shrek movies are my nemesis. my hatred for them is so severe that it may border on irrational levels, but i think i'm justified. I don't mean to offend anyone, some of my best friends like Shrek, but i think those movies are pure evil.

-Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brandt is perfect and awesome.

-Tall Guy - i like your reading of the Looking Glass station. I'm with you all of the way up to the interdeminsional stuff. It's certainly a possibility but, like you said, too sci-fi for my tastes.

I like your podcast. See you in court.

ralph-, the comments are disabled again over at the dharmalars blogspot.

I may be proven wrong, but I bet Holli and I are the only ones who will be seeing Shrek around here.
OMG, can this thing download any slower?

ralph must be a big beck fan. especially mutations. personally, my favorite beck album is odelay.

well, anyways, have fun shitting in a cup!

hows that bbc comin', ben?im excited for one!

Anonymous said...

Actually Steph, I'm committed to taking a couple of rugrats to see the big green ogre myself.

Personally, I loved the first Shrek. THe second one didn't do much for me, and I'm not terribly excited about the third, but maybe with such low expectations I won't be disappointed.

I thought the first shrek was good Second was rubbish and am not going to see the third just wait for it to be on blueray or something should look good in hd

hey guys. check out the lost boys podcast on itunes! we're super funny!

Gavin412 said...

Does anyone know roughly how many listeners Kim and aimee have and how many the Dhamalars have?

Anonymous said...

lost boys - stop spamming. you've been told before so just fuck off.

PalmerEldritch said...

andrew, i'm with you. i avoid Shrek like the plague.

tall guy, i really like most of your theory on The Looking Glass. but i'm going to hope that there's no MagicPortal and instead the "going through the Looking Glass" is more a comment on how, since TLG is jamming radio signals, you have to go through TLG to reach the rest of the world. as in, shut the mother down. or change what it's blocking.

oooh! what if they found a way to send messages out but not receive them. that's prolly not at all how jamming works but it'd be dramatic, eh?

oh. and why do people love Parker Posey? was she in a beloved movie that i just happened to miss?

p.s. dunst = worst.maryjane.EVAR.

Spiderman 3 = worst Spiderman ever

Parker Posey - Dazed & Confused, all the Christopher Guest films. Better CV than most.

Fell asleep watching the most boring FA Cup final I can remember.

Gotta love waking up on a Saturday to a new Dharmalars. It'll make the deck stripping almost enjoyable. Almost.

I'll see Shrek on video, no real desire to run out and see it in the theater.

And for anyone looking for some schadenfreude today...

Wheel of Fortune moron

PastPablo said...

I guess I'm the only one who actually enjoyed the first & second shrek, plus is looking forward to the third. I'll never go to the theatre for it though. DVD is where it's at.

Great to have a new dharmalars, havn't listened but I shall.

Hi all, how's everyone?

Malcolm in RVA said...

schadenfreude

people taking pleasure in ones pain.

Anonymous said...

That's hilarious Trevor.

More Wheel of Fortune morons

schadenfreude is right. But I'd like to think these are both cases of stage fright and not stupidity.

Hey Ralph, sorry to hear about your medical problem. But don't sweat the tests.

I had both the tests you're gonna have, ultra sound to check gallbladder, and an upper GI endoscopy. But I also had a upper GI x-ray. The ultrasound is nothing. The endoscopy is just an IV, then you wake up in another room with a sore throat and you're done. The x-ray is the worst, you have to drink a ton of this chalky mess while they watch it flow through you. The worst part is the next day you have to shit all that stuff out. It feels like shitting a white cinderblock.

As for the stool sample, the plastic bag they give you is for putting over your head so you won't puke as much while collecting your sample.

TLI girl said...

Good stuff yet again Ben & Ralph! Ralph, glad to hear that you're feeling better after Wednesday in the ER. James I was hoping your piece would be longer--also what will your segment consist of for The 'Lars?

Gavin, I think the ratio of Dharmalars listeners to TLI listeners is like 500:1. LOL...I really don't know, but I'm sure their numbers are much higher than ours.

Hereos DVD release date is August 28th!

Jordan said...

Haven't yet listened to the podcast, so I don't know the full extent of Ralph's issues. But from what Goofball said, it sounds similar to some stuff I've had to deal with lately. I had the x-ray with the damn chalky drink stuff. I think it's called barium. And I had an endoscopy scheduled, but I canceled it at the last moment. I had been feeling better and the doc told me that odds are they wouldn't find anything seeing as the x-rays didnt show anything. Btw, my problem was food not digesting properly, getting stuck halfway down and backing up the throat. I still have probs from time to time, but its nowhere near as bad as it was before. I think I might reschedule it down the road. But it sure is annoying doing something that even after insurance costs you about $650, knowing that odds are all it will do is rule stuff out and not figure anything out.

Jordan said...

Hey Kim, Are you and Aimee going to do anything during the summer? I really hope so. Even if it's just a once in a while thing. You guys are a hoot.

Malcolm in RVA said...

i just did a bit of math. now, im by no means good at math and statistics, so if anyone is, please correct my info.

the av. amount of posts for the first 6 episodes of the season was 76.5

the av. amount of posts for the 6 most recent episodes of the season was a whopping 284.83!

at this rate, by this time next year, assuming that each months post count will grow exponentially by +26 posts, (which it probably won't) the av. post count for each month would be roughly 520! not very likely, but its interesting to look forward to.

can someone say "you have waaaay too much free time on your hands! NERD!"

yes. i am a nerd.

Darryl Cunningham said...

Who say it won't grow exponentially forever. Let's see if we can break the internet.

PalmerEldritch said...

i enjoy the hell out of Dre's calls but sometimes its hard to keep up with him. we need a website with transcripts of his calls.

Stephanie said...

I sure hope everyone's interest in the blogspot doesn't drop off after the finale. I'm just starting my post-season depression early, I guess.
Shrek 2 had Hallelujah and Shrek 3 will have JT. That's all I got in the movies' defense. I'm not sure if we'll actually go see it. My rugrat is anxiously awaiting The Silver Sufer as she's thinks she's out-grown cartoons.
Parker Posey was like Queen of The Indies back in the 90's. I liked her in The Daytrippers.

Jordan said...

Ralph, I just listened to the stuff about your health woes. My doc told me the exact same thing about it likely being stress. How annoying is that? "Ok self. Destress. Relax throat. Just chill out dude." And then the doc was like, "Yeah, it's most likely just stress. But hey, let's do some expensive tests that will likely tell us nothing." I feel your pain bro.

Jordan said...

Don't worry about me losing interest Steph. I like talking Lost. But it isn't totally what attracts me to this place. I probably talk more non-lost nonsense than anything. lol.

Benjamin said...

Oh shit. If I'd known John Landis was a listener I would have been more sensitive. I like the thoughts about the Looking Glass. Maybe it is a mirror, though and it's their job to stay isolated and observe the Others from outside the island's range of influence.

Anonymous said...

Kim - You hoped James's piece would be longer?!

Jordan said...

Just finished listening. Good one guys. I think Ralph is onto something with his Jack theory. I can really see that happening.

Stephanie said...

Ben, Vic Morrow couldbe my kinfolk since that is the surname with which I was born.

Unknown said...

I was hoping Jimmy's piece would have touched on Charlie's piece a little bit, but maybe on Tuesday when it'll be a little longer. Super-exctied for that!

Malcolm in RVA said...

tall guy,

i would love it it grew exponentially to 520 posts per week. it would get a bit overwhelming, but it'd be great. i think part of the rise is due to the comments becoming much and much more of a forum for random discussion of anything (which is good) it can also be credited to jay and jack mentioning dharmalars every single podcast!

Anonymous said...

it's awesome that jay and jack pimp the shit out of the dharmalars. but i think everybody would agree that theres a big difference from your average j&j and dharmalars fan. just listen to the listener feedback or visit the j&j forum. variety is the spice of life though.

International-J said...

Dre's calls wiped me out, his minutes must be racking UP!

Stephanie said...

I wonder if Dre knows his calls are the center of so much discussion on the blogspot. I wonder if Dre knows about the blogspot.

International-J said...

I cannot believe that this thread had no Kablammos on any of the numbers! Shame Shame Shame! :(

Jordan said...

His comment about digging Sarah Silverman and her long neck cracked me up.

Mike Campbell said...

Yeah i am going to have to give a Red Card to Shrek Three. I have enjoyed the other two but this one wasn't as good. Puss in Boots is still amazing though. And the freak dragon/donkey babies were cute but strange if you think how that happened.

Jimmy said...

Yes, sorry folks, but with all the trouble with the feed plus a few things all my schedule got trashed for the show. At one point, I was considering re-editing my midweek and just submitting it with the hour long show. Ultimately I got 6 minutes in this week...thems the breaks!

Stephanie said...

Jimmy, you can do no wrong.

blogspot is slooow on the weekend, eh? anybody working on the weekends? poor bastards.

i'm thinking of catching "Hot Fuzz" this sunday. anyone seen it? i liked Shaun of the Dead but got bored of Spaced during the first five minutes.

Jimmy said...

Cheers Steph,

I enjoyed Hot Fuzz. Silly ending but still worth the admission.

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, that is a pretty badass trailer. i still hate the look of the robotic form of the transformers but i'll go see the movie. if nothing else, shit's gunna blow up. that'll be cool.

hopefully, i'll be going to see Hot Fuzz and get to see a Transformers or a Pirates trailer beforehand.

Mike Campbell said...

Thats the trailer they played before Shrek 3. I am glad they used the sound for transforming and what not. still nto sure if it will be any good.

Hot Fuzz was great. I liked it more then shawn of the dead.

One post b4 I FINALLY get my seg together and recorded!

Still listening to Lars - cracking me up as usual. I am so sorry for the literal shit you are dealing with Ralph (and are going to be dealing with). I don't mean to be insensitive to your pain - but I was laughing loudly to you guys explaining and commenting on Ralph's upcoming shit sample. You just don't often get to hear someone say "I had to fill a cup with shit one time too". And it's the "too" that I want to point out, because how many times do two people with that shared experience talk to each other about it, honestly, let alone record a podcast together and mention it in passing. This is the interpersonal magic that I subscribe to the Dharmalars for. It's some magic shit people - truly.

Re: Shrek (and Mike Myers)- All about the Shrek love in this house, I liked the first and second ones equally, I'm sure I'll see the 3rd if I ever have any time to see movies again ever. And will share Austin Powers movies with the kiddo at some future age, of which I will need to determine.

Now - off to spoiler-land (what's left of it this season)
