So far, so good. I'll have to watch the rest of it when I get home.

Ralph- said...

It's not very long....

Anonymous said...

error at 07:28 - doesn't seem to be a codec problem...

Jimmy said...

Me too....the moment Ralph "grabs my segment" it corrupts...

Ralph, what I do get to see is really, really fucking great :)

Anonymous said...

I agree

Ralph- said...

i figured out the problem, give me 20 minutes and you will see what happens after i grab Jimmy's segment. sorry about that.

Jimmy said...

Gentle with it...it's been knocked around enough as it is this week!

PalmerEldritch said...

ah, so it's not just me. phew! glad to know you're all suffering along with me just waiting to find out what happens once Ralph gets his hands on Jimmy's segment.

in the meantime, Jimmy in all your Britishness, favorite Doctor (, The)?

Jimmy said...

Palmer...totally easy

Jon Pertwee! Showing my age, right there. You?

Favorite assistant? Sarah Jane, then Jo.

PalmerEldritch said...

oh, i'm clearly in the Tom Baker camp. that's mostly what was played when i was growing up. PBS used to play both Bakers, McCoy, and Davison pretty heavily when i was growing up. although, i've seen some Pertwee and Troughton. not a lot of Hartnell though.

and i've seen McGann, Eccleston, and Tennant.

i seem to remember thinking Leela was pretty great but that may have been because i was 11 and she was wearing only furs. :)

we had a cat named after Nissa though. Sarah Jane was a favorite too. but i think my favorite companion was THE BRIGADIER. that guy was the man.

PalmerEldritch said...

and the first Romana was HOT.

Anonymous said...

Thank you Steph and Tallguy dor the movie podcast selections. just listened to a couple episodes of mondo movie and scene/uncscene. Both are entertaining. Gonna try girls on film next.

I just saw heroes. Great episode but $500.00 for a 2 minute lapdance with niki/jessica? I know it is science fiction but c'mon. Of all the eye candy on that show. She is the least hot. Simone then Claire then Eden, then Tina, then hiro's sister then maybe niki/jessica.

Maybe the destruction of Ney york and the sylar presidency caused massive inflation.

DID SOMEONE SAY - THE DOCTOR!?!

fave doc is Tom Baker - I know its a ubiquitous answer for people my age, but he WAS the one I first watched back in Chicago growing up. I'm not a hater of any of them, Pertwee, Davison, Hartnell, Troughton, C.Baker, McCoy - I pretty much enjoyed all of them.

I will also say David Tennant and Chris Eccleston have outdone themselves in the new series. I'm totally hooked

RE: Assistants - love Sarah Jane (she had a nice appearance in the new show), love Jo Grant, but I thought the super trio of The Doc, Romana and K9 was great - they kicked ass.

And you weren't even asking for my opinion - LOL.

PalmerEldritch said...

K-9 is the best damn dog ever.

I want a K-9. The guy even has LASERS. That's a good dog.

PalmerEldritch said...

MB, remember the story where Tom Baker was on some sort of Solar Sailboat on a race around the galaxy? howabout the one with Leonardo DaVinci? or the McCoy episode with the cat people? :\

PalmerEldritch said...

you done good, ralph. got me past the 7:29 mark! huzzah!

memphish said...

Ralph, is the white logo just for the special anniversary celebration or is it the Year 2 logo?

I don't think I've said it yet, and I've been terribly remiss, Happy Anniversary Ben, Ralph, Ryan, Jeff, the other Engineer, Stevie and the rest of the people who've made for a great Dharmalar year.

Thanks for the extra content guys. I forgot what a great Mr.T Ben is. And Jimmy's segment was hilarious. could you film him dancing? The video quality was great thanks Ralph.

aimee is lost said...

That was an awesome video guys! Great work Ralph (especially on your stunted beard re-growth!) Congrats to all of you on a wonderful year.

Jimmy, that was absolutely hilarious. A nice scheme to grab more of the ladies attention as well. Jimmy takes his shirt off. Nicely done.

PalmerEldritch said...

ok, i've now watched the entire video. ralph, seriously, impressive editing. really good stuff with a nice use of music and no annoying edits.

Bondage Jimmy makes his first appearance. impressive.

and how sad was it that i was saying out loud in my computer room "c'mon, c'mon, yes!" when i was waiting for the final bit before the web address. boy, that reads pretty dirty. doesn't it?

aimee is lost said...

Palmer, it's only dirty if you want it to be. And we probably all do.

PalmerEldritch said...

oh, yeah. congrats on the first year of the Dharmalars. but most of all, thanks. you guys go out of your way to provide us (for free) with something that we all really enjoy. yes, that is indeed what she said.

PalmerEldritch said...

hehheheheh. aimee, you're terrific. that's what made the Aimee-Kim MBK in the last thread so heartbreaking. ;)

Ralph- said...

thanks. it really means a lot to us. concidering how we go about doing a podcast, i am amazed that you all are entertained. our set up is pretty fucking ghetto. but whatever works . :)

mb said...

Just finished watching. 100% DharmaLOVED it. Nicely done - and excellent music choice for the credits...I hear them calling.

Ralph - what do you edit with?

Jimmy - that was gold baby - laughed out loud.

mb said...

from the last thread:

goofball - you are very kind with your words - thanks!

Ralph- said...

for this, i used iMovie. i dont like using it that much, i prefer Fianal Cut, but for small projects like this, it is good enough.

Jimmy's segment was the best.... now jimmy, get back in your cage.

Stephanie said...

Jimmy takes his shirt off? Surely I read that wrong.

mb said...

Palmer - re: Dr. Who - the one with DaVinci is called "City of Death" and it is easily one of my favorite Who stories of all time. The dialougue is particularly witty and tight, you get Julian Glover as, I think, one of the best Who baddies ever, Douglas Adams co-wrote it, and you get a cameo by John Cleese. It rocks.

Stephanie said...

Do we get to see scars or what?
Can't wait to see what name generator we use tomorrow.

mb said...

Ralph - right on. You're doing better than me - I use Final Cut all the time, yet iMovie eludes me (it's quite pathetic). I think I'm too lazy to switch gears in my aging brain. really nice job - truly.

mb said...

Its true Steph - it's in black and white - but i'm pretty sure you get to see nipplage and all. Enjoy!

Jordan said...

Hmmm. I'm getting an "Error-2048 This file is not a movie"

???

Ralph- said...

it should be working.

Jordan said...

I'm trying to download from the blogspot link. Could that make a difference?

PalmerEldritch said...

it's working for me, Jordan. try entering the code and pressing execute.

i thought it was pretty brave of Jimmy to put to rest any suspicion of a third nipple.

Jordan said...

Maybe it's my computer's built in security system that filters out videos of british guys with their shirts off.

Jordan said...

Ok, no worries. I got it working.

I was trying to save it to my computer then play. That didn't work. But for some reason when I just clicked it in the browser, there you have it. Watching as I type.

PalmerEldritch said...

thank goodness that you overrode that firewall. now, it's all the shirtless british men you can shake a stick at.

so to speak... :\

Jordan said...

Hey Ralph, is that a Vizio tv you have that I noticed behind Ralph? I recently bought one myself and think it's bad ass, especially for the price.

Anonymous said...

Ok, I'm catching up here since my work work restricts the blogspot (yes, I know, it's total crap) and i've been out with friends this evening, but for once, this quiet chick has something that I must say(yes, the beer helps)...
To the Dharmalars (Congrats on a year by the way) and TLI...you guys are my podcast Heroes. To put all of the work you do into these episodes is amazing to me, and I know this because my podcast can't seem to get itself off the ground (and that's a whole different discussion altogether! I'll be a guest host anytime! haha). You have helped me get through things as simple as a dumb old work week to other more serious things (which I'm sure you all that listened to TLI heard Kim mention my email). Do not change a thing!
To all of the haters...and yes, this means you that give the simple anonymous one-liners. To echo Kim, try creating and posting a podcast of your own. I promise you, you won't stick around nearly as long enough as these two wonderful podcasts. Also, if you don't like it, why listen? There are plenty of shorter, less enjoyable podcasts out there for you to listen to. (I may post as anonymous, but at least I sign my name)
To the blogspotters...I know I don't post often (my work restricts the blogspot, did I mention what total crap it was?)...but you all are awesome. The brightest part of my day is when I can come home and read your comments, even if my theories have been brought up and shot down before I get off work! I couldn't ask for better "LOST friends"!

April

Ralph- said...

i do own a vizio, it is the bee's knees.

Thanks for all the kind words, again i really would not be doing it if it werent for all of you blogspotters.

woopee woo dharmalars! You guys are a bunch of gnarly dudes! i have a big time crush on ralph after watching that video podcast. what a cutie. so smiley! too bad ben is so blah. but ralph, oh my goodness. i want to get up all in that beardy goodness. aiy-yi-yi!

mb said...

April -
you rock! What nice things to say! Let me know when your podcast is ready to download (I know it's a lot of work). I'm there - can't wait to hear it.

Ralph - I realized in my post about FCP I sounded like I said iMovie was pathetic - I meant I was pathetic for bein too damn lazy to learn it. You certainly did a nice job with it.

Anonymous said...

LOL! good stuff. The funniest part was watching Ben carry in the boxes they set the mics on to record. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

James, brilliant as always.

Congrats guys, that was well done.

Kirklain said...

just watched the vidcast... very revealing... great segment Jimmy!

so belatedly, happy one year anniversary Dharmalars!

when are the girls going to do a vidcast?!

Jordan said...

Great stuff guys. The Jimmy bondage stuff was hilarious.

Wesh said...

I was planning to download this after midnite, cause then whatever I download count only for 50% the bandwidth, but I can't freaking wait after reading all these comments :D

Download-a-go-go!!

Spiderman 3 is out in theatres tonight! I might not make it though, but I'll try. Should be an enjoyable flick.

Stephanie said...

Not that I'm jealous and I don't want to sound like an arrogent American, but why does Europe and Japan get Spiderman before we do?

April, keep us updated on your podcast since I feel like I have to support everyone's podcasting efforts.

Now that I'm expecting my new computer in a day or two, what do I do to prepare? How do I transfer? Help would be appreciated.

memphish said...

Aimee, Kim, whoever's going to post the next thread, I need a ruling on when it might be up to post generators, yes plural, for this evening's episode. I'm happy to delay to allow the glowing reviews of the Dharmalars video podcast to mount. I just don't want to have to repost. Yes I am L-A-Z-Y.

Loved the podcast Dharmalars. I was wondering if we are supposed to be able to figure out what's going on from Jimmy's tatts. Are they a clue? Our own Dharmalars Easter Eggs? Or could Ralph and Ben not afford makeup for Jimmy? Or, did Jimmy go all prima donna and require them to write his personal ink into the plot?

April, thanks for the very kind words for our insipient ramblings overhere which occasionally include LOST. I'm glad my boss doesn't block the blogspot. Wait, I'm the boss. Should I be blocking it to make myself more productive? Screw that.

Holli

P.S. Ralph answer my logo color question.

PalmerEldritch said...

holli, i assumed that the white background had something to do with your new avatar.

memphish said...

Ben and Ralph have a higher sperm count after one year of podcasting? Is that what you're saying Palmer? Frankly I'd have thought sitting that close to microphones might have the opposite effect.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

holli, that's the magic of the podcasting island.

steph, i usually just burn all the files that i want from my old computer onto CD or put them on an external hard drive. then i grab them with the new computer. however, there's something called the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard built into Windows now. i don't have any experience with it though.

Wesh said...

Hehe, yeah i don't know why it's released over here earlier. I guess we can catch a break too moviewise from time to time :)
I do know that it's released earlier in China (May 3rd) in order to keep pirated copies to a minimum.

About the transfer: i use the same method as Palmer. I just copy the files i need to a cd. I don't really copy settings and stuff, cause in my experience that doesn't always go down smoothly.
Still, here's a step by step transfer guide in windows xp pro
and here's a guide to migrate from xp to vista.

PalmerEldritch said...

are we all excited for LOST yet?

how much can we talk about with it being Spoiley? can we include stuff from the released trailers?

Wesh said...

I'm excited and I don't even know much about what's gonna happen. All I know is what Kim & Aimee mentioned; it might be about Locke or about Dharma. Either way: awesomeness guaranteed I suppose.

Just watched the vidcast! Super stuff Dharmalars! :) Informative and hilarious! Jimmy's segment was longer then expected *wink* but sooooooo funny (and creepy? °__O" )
Great show! Keep up your segments yall and have an awesome new year of podcasting!

memphish said...

Well things are certainly off to a slow start around here. I'll try to get something started, but I've got to take off in about 15 min. for several hours, so if necessary, please move the relevant links. Thanks Palmer.

So tonight's episode is entitled The Brig. That could refer to a couple of different things according to wikipedia, the source of all wisdom. We'll start with the first possibility, a type of ship. At wikipedia you could pick your favorite brig name fictional or real and share or you can generate a ship name for your brig, or you can generate a pirate ship name since after all there's a pirate brig in Pirates of the Caribbean.

I'm going to name my brig Rebecca because of its link to the War of Jenkins' Ear.

Holli

memphish said...

I have another generator for later when there are more people around related to another meaning of the word brig.

Holli
Head wench of the Rebecca

aimee is lost said...

Palmer, I finally caught up with reading the last thread. I had no idea that MBK discussion even took place. I think that's funny that all the guys around here will talk like a group of horny sailors (no offense Dylan), but they got all gentlemanly when the topic of Kim & Aimee came up. That was sweet.

Anonymous said...

My pirate ship name is Foul Curse of the East. My non-pirate ship name is The Sweet Mermaid. Both sound like worthy vessels. I don't know, though ... it's a little lame, all you do is go to a website and click a button to get your ship name. Is there a pirate name generator?

elias said...

Cheers to the Dharmalars for a great vid. Funny that I thought it was recorded in a proper studio. The Jimmy stuff was completely unexpected. Also laughed at the parting shot.

Cap'n Elias of The Vile Strumpet :)

Stephanie said...

I think I meant to say arrogant.
Ok, transferring files. What eactly do I need to transfer? I can't really think of anything important. Just pictures, iTunes music, what do I need to consider?

ralph-,I can't get the video again. Once I deleted it from iTunes, I can't find it again. It's not on the Dharmalar's page. I'm really upset and don't actually have time to be doing this. I have a lot to do today. I need to learn to procrastinate some.

PalmerEldritch said...

arrr! i be heading to CrazyAssIsland on me trusty ship, The English Salamander!! it crawls on its belly across the high seas, plundering any city or ship that gets to close. for the Salamander is God's deadliest creature!

oooooooh... salamanders can regenerate lost limbs. how LOSTish!

PalmerEldritch said...

Steph, things you might want to back up:

Pictures, Word files, Excel spreadsheets, mail from Outlook or Outlook Express, Music, Lost podcasts, stuff on your desktop, stuff in your My Documents, bookmarks from your internet browser...

then again, you might not care to back up anything. :)

Wesh said...

Arr, me pirate vessle is "The Privateer's Lust"

and my casual ship is "The Golden Unicorn".
Good stuff. Sailed the seven seas and back, and still in top notch condition.

yeah i'd transfer:
pics, music, podcasts, internet browser's favorites, my documents, movie files, config and save files of some games, and that's basicly it I think. All that is downloadable or installable off cd/dvd, i don't transfer. Fresh installs are always better for a smooth system.

Good luck with the transfer, steph. ;)

Wesh said...

LOL. what palmer said. :)

Anonymous said...

Stephanie, you scrumptious voiced vixen, you.
I've missed chatting with you.
Anyway. i reformat the hard drive(s) on my pc every 9-10months or so, to stop a mass build up of shite collecting on there.
What i do first though, is go into Control Panel --> Add/ Remove Programs and then take a screen shot of the list there, so if there's anything i particularly want to re-install later, i have that.
Then, the rest of the gubbins i have is pretty much media, songs, movies, pictures, etc. I keep them in folders and sub-folders as best i can, then copy that onto a spare hard drive (or in your case, your new computer) and hey presto!
One thing i would say is make sure you copy the iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xlm - once you get iTunes pointed towards them on the new pc, it's pretty much plain sailing, you shouldn't need to re-subscribe to any podcasts...

Sanjaya- Thanks for all the kind words. that was unexpected.

MB- i honesty dont care if you bag on iMovie, even if it was unintentional. Final Cut is the shit! iMovie is like the playskool version of editing software. it gets the job done, but there is better things out there.

Kim- Ben has been using those same boxes for about 4 months now. We could probably go to guitar center and pic up some mic stands, i hear that they are having a sale this weekend.

Holli- As for the logo.... Our first logo was a tan color, then we moved on to a black logo with ben and my screaming heads above it. When i did the myspace page, i chose to make the backround of the page Yellow, cause i thought it looked cool. I wanted our logo backround to be the same color as the myspace page so i made it the same yellow. if you look at it now, we posted the white logo and it looks dumb on the yellow backround.

the reason for it being white, is because i like the way the opening credits look in the movie "CQ", white backround with black writing. so i did that with our video credits. I also used music from CQ for the opening. I figured that since i had that logo, i would switch it up a bit. I put it on our myspace main pic, cause it seems that when people notice the new logo, they tend to come over and leave more comments on our page. it makes it look like we had done some changes so they come check it out.

The yellow that i use for the regular Logo, is very close to the Yellow that makes up the backround of a box of Mallowmars, which is what makes time travel possible.....

HERE
is the trailer to CQ. I love this movie, it is in my top ten and Angela Lindvall is my #1 by far. I would recommend that you Netflix it if you have that service. Everytime i watch this movie, i think about all the bullshit films that come out now and how directors and writers dont have an ounce of imagination in their films. This is a movie that makes me want to make movies. I see this and it is a really good interpretation of what is going on in my head. I want to make smart films, but my mind is full of far out ideas and i tend to daydream a lot.... sorry for the rant. i am sure the movie is not as good as all that, but it just hit me funny when i watched it. Hey, it's either this or The Hills Have Eyes 2.

Name- The Sweet Hydra

Pirate Ship- Hades' Storm
(even though i wanted The Filthy Whore)

PalmerEldritch said...

ok. apparently, now that both links are loading for me, The English Salamander is my regular boat. my pirate boat is...

THE BUCCANEER'S WHORE!

man, that's cool. I'd take either ship though.

Benjamin said...

Hey, kids. Thanks for listening to the show and watching the video. I'm sorry I can't be as dreamy as Ralph, Sanjaya. Very sorry.

The hiatuslars should be pretty interesting. We'll likely go to every Summer movie, and we both have crazy taste on Netflix, so there's plenty of stuff to talk about.

I got intimidated by the size (that's what she said) of the other threads, so I missed the Aimee/Kim MBK. You guys weren't seriously doing that, were you? That's just wrong. You can't play that game...without a third person to choose from.

Also, I missed any potential Hiros talk. So all I'll say is, "Damn."

elias said...

Yeah I liked that Heroes but I'm still loyal to Goth Lost Claire.

Ralph - Letterman's cameo is all I've seen of that movie.

I recommend Yellowbeard as a not altogether awful pirate comedy.

Stephanie said...

Thanks guys for all the advise. I can't believe I'll have to resubscribe to all my podcasts. That'll be a bitch. I know I'll forget some. Screen shots will help.
I've read spoilers. I have just enough info to know The Brig is going to be frakkin awesome. Less than 10 hours to go!

PalmerEldritch said...

definitely need to check out Yellowbeard. and Zardoz, damnit. maybe i'll pick up a Netflix account once all the TV shows are on summer hiatus. maybe.

Cap'n Aimee, you grog-swilling banshee, thanks for giving me Buccaneer's Whore the seal of approval. but if that gangrenous seadog comes near me vessel again, the seal's eating cannonball and gunpowder.

all this pirate talks make me miss the Monkey Island insult sword fighting.

Oh, dude, Monkey Island. When can I download that to my Wii? Today? Is it today? I will also accept Day of the Tentacle.
