DHARMALARS POINT OF REVELATION: Portuguese Guy shot a scene for the Snake In The Mailbox. Ooooh.

Ralph- said...

Casey, our opperation is so freaking low-rent, that it is impossible to get the type of sound quality of a Myokom or Lost Podcast. i have put $0.00 dollars into the podcast, i think that it is pretty good concidering that i have kept this going as a hobby without any kind of training in broadcasting. i dont know how our show is getting the kind of attention it is, but ben and i are just kicking back and enjoying the ride.

mb said...

HOLY SHIT!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT WITH DHARMA HOLY-SHIT-TOPPING ON TOP!!! WHAT DID I MISS - WAS THIS TALKED ABOUT B4?!? FRAKKING AWESOME!!!!!!!

Ralph- said...

MB- We had NO idea that any of this was going to happen until 9:30am today! i woke up and had a message in my inbox on myspace. The words that you mentioned above are the same words that woke up Stevi!

Unreal!

mb said...

How did this happen?! I thought I remembered that you had hung with him at Comic Con - but what the frakk? Did you just ask him to stop by and he did?!?

mb said...

OK - you're a minute ahead of me on the thinking thing - it's a little late - LOL

listening right now! I was about to record my seg - but that is going to have to wait. Holy shit! I bow to you two!

Ralph- said...

i did not hang out with jorge at comic con. in fact other than me asking a question at the lost panel, jorge and i were never in the same room before. he is the one that contacted me. i can assure you that i had nothing to do with him asking to sit in on a podcast. he was in town, had lunch with his family and had some spare time to hang out, record and go get some dinner, where he was noticed by many. i felt really special walking in with him by my side. it was a really proud moment for ALL of us. I wish that Jimmy and Ryan could have been there. it was unbelievable!

mb said...

YOU WENT TO DINNER WITH JORGE GARCIA?!?! GOD FUCKING DAMMIT MAN -
UN-REAL!!
oops my caps lock was on...kidding

that is INSANE man! There are just no words - they all pale

I'm listening now to yours and ben's excellent questions, and I'm just admiring your control dude, cause if it were me, it would be Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney on SNL PT.2

Ralph- said...

we actually talked with him for at least an hour and a half before we started to set up the recording equiptment.

mb said...

In case anyone needs a reminder of the hilarity that is Chris Farley

mb said...

Stop blowing my brains out man

He really is that nice, dayum

mb said...

What did his my space message say - can you tell?

mb said...

I guess I'm going to DVR 'Ace of Cakes' this week - lol

Dudes ... before I listen ...

Is there anything, content-wise, in this podcast that is going to make me wish i hadn't listened to it before the finale aired? Jorge's a cast member so any shit that he mentions could probably actually go down. And no matter how fucking sweet it is you got to podcast with him, I really, really, REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to spoil myself for the finale, and especially the "Snake In The Mailbox"

mb said...

Jansen,
Just finished listening, and I heard nothing that was a spoiler. The "Rattlesnake in the Mailbox" is brought up at the end, but Jorge is as cryptic and non-informational as I think one can be without just not talking. It's safe as far as I could hear - and I know the spoilers that are out there (of course).

F-ing.....awesome.....interview. Truly well done R&B - that was excellent.

Fucking hell - my RSS feed on my google home page tells me that there's a new S&S post - i click on it and there's three large dudes sitting in a lounge!

As micheal palin once said - you lucky, lucky bastards!

elias said...

nice one guys. This is a real treat.

Malcolm in RVA said...

ben and ralph. you lucky bastards. i wake up early from having nightmares about my grandmas dog, when i see a little finale predictions podcast. i open it up, and i hear jorge garcia laughing. im in shock. i think you guys were faking it. then, i hear him talk. i think this is him. i log on to the blogspot, and KA-BLAMO!!! a picture of ben, ralph, and jorge garcia. thats ka-blamo.

Stephanie said...

If only I had set my alarm for 4:45 instead of 5:10...

I would still feel like crap

but I wouldn't have to wait 12 hours.

Mike Campbell said...

Thats so insane guys can't wait to hear it!!!

PalmerEldritch said...

"ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?!" was my first response. Now, I'm giddy as a schoolgirl waiting for this to download.

Rolph, Boner, I'm extremely happy for you guys. I'm also extremely happy for me because I get to listen to a Dharmalars podcast with Jorge. But extremely happy that you guys got to have such an awesome experience.

Well, podcast finished downloading so I'm off to listen. It ought to make folding laundry bearable. Thanks, guys, for putting out such a great podcast.

p.s. did you watch Commando with him?

International-J said...

I really enjoyed it, I had a smile on my face the whole time I listened. Great questions!

Ralph- said...

he is such an awesome guy. really nice and easy going. And he is a fan. i mean, he did contact us first. it was cool because he told me that he did not have internet access at the hotel he was staying at and asked if i could burn him a copy of "Greatest Hits" for the ride back to LA. he called me on the way back to his hotel to ask a favor concerning the recording, then started laughing about shitting in a cup. did i mention how unbelievable it was?

Stephanie said...

I'm so proud of you guys. Sniff. Sniff.
This is torture, not being able to hear it.

PalmerEldritch said...

ralph, i know you've been having a rough time the past couple of weeks with shitting in a cup and whatnot. sounds like you needed some jorge-time to help you de-stress.

good luck on the poop front.

apPaullo said...

I was at a party last night and hanging out with the one guy who happened to be a Lost fan, when Ben or Ralph (I can't remember who sent it) texted me a picture of freaking Jorge to my cell phone. I showed it to the guy, and he almost had to shit in a cup.

Did you go to the Stinking Rose like I told you??

apPaullo said...

Hi Aimee and Kim!

Anonymous said...

that was nuts! congratulations. Jorge is such an unpretentious dude, and you guys did a great job with the questions.
i think he let a little bit of the rattlesnake in the mailbox slip right at the end, just enough to get my mind racing with speculation.

today was beautiful so i played a little hookie, went into work a little late, went digging for records and listened to the 2 dharmalars episodes back to back. awesome day so far.

andrew.

Anonymous said...

Ralph, Ben and Jorge.

Who could ask for anything more. I'm jealous. Loved Jorge's take on the first season. Jeez you lucky dawgs!
Thanks for letting us in on it.

casey_donahue said...

great show, i like the digression in the middle o fthe show instead of the beginning upon jorge's request

and ralph, Im just busting balls, your recordings are usually very good, its just this one and the greatest hits show that it sounded like something was up with the mic, its no big deal, really

apPaullo said...

Just finished listening - awesome show.

I understand why you couldn't ask him about the finale, but why couldn't you ask if he ever had to shit in a cup?

apPaullo said...

Uhhh...did I just kill the thread?

Yesterday may have been the most unlikely day of my life. Wow. Thanks for listening, and keeping us doing this show so an opportunity like this can present itself. What a nice guy he turned out to be. It was a lot of fun hanging out with him, and trying to make him laugh, and going out to dinner, even though he did get approached by a couple of people.

Aimee, we didn't go to the Stinking Rose. He mentioned how it's not easy to get good Mexican food on the island, so we took him to a little hole-in-the-wall place between Ralph's house and mine and it was good and tasty.

elias said...

love the Mick Hucknall, Steph. Charlie & Naomi would be proud.

apPaullo said...

It's fantastic that Jorge has taken it upon himself to be the unofficial ambassador to the fans; he goes way above and beyond the call of duty, so it shouldn't be a surprise that he's so loved by the fans.

Special thanks to Ben and Ralph for not asking the same lame questions LOST cast members are always asked. That was the best non-interview interview I've ever heard. I loved the fact that Jorge wanted to BS about his Netflix.

Now, if we can just get a video podcast of Kiele Sanchez giving Aimee and Kim pole dancing lessons...

Anonymous said...

Or better yet, pole smoking lessons. Not that anyone needs lessons, it would just be more entertaining than the pole dancing lessons ;-)

Mike Campbell said...

was it an old SaS where they talked about someone with a unicycle. Because i was driving around and saw someone riding one on the side of the road. I tried to take a picture with my cell phone cause it reminded me of the rant they had about it. The fricken wheel was huge too. they must have used a ladder to get up on it.

Anonymous said...

i can't believe it. great stuff. congrats

Ralph- said...

Mike, it was Unicycle Jousting!

PalmerEldritch said...

i've done lawnmower jousting.

nothing says responsibility like using a ride-on lawnmower and a PVC pipe to take down your enemies.

Stephanie said...

ralph- and Ben, Jorge kinda alluded to the fact that The Network encourages him to listen to podcasts, didn't he? Discuss.
Wow! He is so down-to-earth. It's so nice that you guys have so much in common with him.

Mike Campbell said...

Ralph - YES!!! i think you and Ben need to kidnap Craig and Ryan and road trip to little rock via t-dot and have the ultimate lost podcast of ultimate sacrifice. whos with me :)

Scott said...

watch Children of Men that is...
it's actually a great movie

PalmerEldritch said...

Movie Update: Hot Fuzz gets the thumbs up. And at matinee prices too.

Everyone chomping at the bit for the finale or what?

Stephanie said...

As I've stated before, can't wait to see Hot Fuzz. Children of Men, to me, was the best movie of last year. I was disappointed with Pan's Labrynth. A visually stunning film, but the story creeped me out. I liked The Fountain.

As far as the finale goes, hearing ralph- and Ben interview Jorge was enough to satisfy, for a couple of days.

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, you might not want to take the little one to see Hot Fuzz. lots of gore in it.

heroes finale tonight! is it really only going to be one hour? that sucks.

Trevor McFur said...

Wow, guys, I was so excited when I woke up yesterday and saw a new podcast. I had a long car drive yesterday, and was happy that I'd have the Lars to keep me entertained. When I actually hopped in the car and turned on the iPod ... let's just say that it was a good thing I was still in park, otherwise I would have driven off the road! Great job guys, thanks!

Trevor McFur said...

My cousin has an interesting theory about Heroes. He believes that Peter and Sylar have the same exact power; Sylar just believes that he has to kill off and munch the brains of those he absorbs to actually acquire their power. You know, because he's nuts. That's how he 'broke' Hiro's time freeze two weeks ago, because he had absorbed his power. That also would mean that he would have absorbed Claire's power earlier this season, and even if Peter, Hiro & the gang stop and kill Sylar tonight, her power might allow him to survive and return again next season. Cool theory, I thought.

Jordan said...

WOW!!!

I check out for a day and this happens? Holy crap guys. This is incredible. Way to go Dharmafarts!

I'm looking forward to listening. Thanks for the awesome stuff fellas. And bigger thanks to Jorge for being such a rad dude.

I 2nd appaulo's Kiele Sanchez/TLI idea. ;)

International-J said...

Oh God, if that theory is true, it's going to suck. Cause I'm hoping to see Sylar get killed.

PalmerEldritch said...

i'm all about Sylar dying tonight. better happen. or the Haitian can wipe his brain instead.

trevor, that is a cool theory about Sylar. kudos to your cousin.

Trevor McFur said...

I personally think that Sylar is going to survive; he's a great villain and comic book villains always find a way to come back. As far as how, my cuz's theory is as good as any.

I also think that NY is gonna get all blowed up tonight.

Trevor McFur said...

The thing that I really want to see tonight is an all-out, balls to the wall, Peter/Sylar throwdown. They've hinted at it for a while, teased us with it in the future episode, and now it's time.

jayhawk said...

What a great way to start a Monday! I had to hear the backstory of how this "interview" happened, so thanks for filling us in Ralph. Awesome stuff.

PalmerEldritch said...

i'm getting a bit sick of Sylar. it would be really satisfying to see him get his comeuppance. a serious beat down, at the least.

and 24 finale tonight too (for those who still watch it). very eager to see if they have a big twist coming up or not.

Stephanie said...

p, I'm sure I'll have to wait for Hot Fuzz on DVD. But rugrat really wants to see it. She also wants me to buy Borat and save it for her until she's 17. I believe she's 21 in a 8 year old body.
During the scene where Sylar visited his mom, I got the feeling he's conflicted, as if he's possessed by his power.
Finally, we'll see the throw-down between Sylar and Peter tonight!
For Kimberley and Aimee:
http://www.stereogum.com/archives/video/new-fergie-video-big-girls-dont-cry.html
All this time, I thought Fergie was talented. I was mistaken.

Stephanie said...

The Simpsons would have been hilarious last night if I ever watched an episode of 24.

Trevor McFur said...

I think that Sylar WAS conflicted, and was hoping that his mom would have told him that it was ok to just be a normal person. But she told him again that he had to be something special, and then, whoops, he killed her, so now I think that he's straight up crazy evil.

PalmerEldritch said...

kablamo!

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, i almost sort of was tempted to watch the Simpsons for that episode. might have to catch a re-run.

Whoa. Ben are Ralph are big guys. They are almost the same size as Hurley. I never knew that.

Benjamin said...

Oh yeah, dude. Real men have curves.

Stephanie said...

Ben and ralph- are sitting in the foreground of the pic. This creates the illusion that the dharmalars are about the same size as Jorge when in reality they are not. Use this helpful bit of info when photographing trophy fish or game.

PalmerEldritch said...

lost boys, suggested reading.

Ralph- said...

i was surprised when jorge showed up, he is like 3 inches taller than me. he has to be like 6'3 or something. its funny because i was watching "The Answers" last night and seein Hurley on TV for the first time since Jorge left made me appreciate what he does on the show. I swear that it did not seem like the same guy. Jorge is sort of Hurley-Like, but there is definitly a difference. Jorge is more quiet, reserved. It was odd. i am sure ben and i will talk about it on this weeks show. But Hurley is totally a created character.

elias said...

lovely stuff Dramalars.

watched The Stand last night - Dr. Kelso is Molly Ringwald's dad. Also some good Sinise.

And Mad Max 2 which I haven't seen in years. Pre-mullet Mel is a rare treat.

Trevor McFur said...

That's interesting Ralph, because it really does come off sometimes on the show that he's basically just playing himself (and obviously that's supported by the fact that he's such a damn nice guy in real life). It's cool to see a celeb who's just happy with his success and enjoys being with the fans.

PalmerEldritch said...

Steph - that sucks. The best I can advise is googling "lost recycle bin" and following a tutorial on registry problems.

I checked the guilty pleasures episode of the Hollywood Saloon and they really put themselves out there - notably Spiceworld, Escape from LA, Bring It On, Flash Gordon and Corvette Summer. and that BeeGees Sergeant Pepper film. I'm not brave enough to list mine in public.

i play it once in awhile. i will get beat by you and ralph!

PalmerEldritch said...

ah ha! easy one, steph. in windows xp anyhow...

vista calls everything something different. so...

Microsoft says to

"1. Open Personalization by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Personalization.
2. In the left pane, click Change desktop icons.
3. Under Desktop icons, select the check box for each icon that you want to appear on the desktop. Clear the check box for icons that you don't want to appear, and then click OK."

the Recycling Bin should be one of those icons. but i've only got XP and OS X at home so i can't check for myself.

PalmerEldritch said...

i'm pretty sure that you can get to Personalization by right clicking on the desktop and choosing "Personalization" now that i think about it. good luck!

i'm assuming that you only lost the Recycling Bin icon. losing the Recycling Bin altogether would probably take some doing.

so... anyone watch those big finales tonight? guess we'll have to wait for our west coast friends, eh?

Trevor McFur said...

I watched Heroes, Tivo'ed 24 (actually about a month behind 24). I liked Heroes a lot, although I would have been happier if they had gotten to the finale more quickly and spent more time on the Peter/Sylar throwdown ... was a little disappointed that it only lasted a minute or two. It was nice to see Sylar get bitchslapped by Peter, but after all the buildup I was hoping for fireballs, ice rays and all sorts of crazy shit.

PalmerEldritch said...

heroes pissed me off to no end. the whole ending was just me yelling at the tv with better ideas than the heroes used. "ok, you do this right now. ok, you're an idiot. you! you do this with your powers then. no? you're a dipshit? ok, fine. you over there! take that and do the thing with the stuff!" yeesh.

peter has everyone's powers so why does he have to rely on other people to use their powers to help him out?

frustrating stuff. :)

but heroes is good. gotta love heroes. even if the characters spontaneously became total dumbasses.

PalmerEldritch said...

please note: my frustration with Heroes is out of love. still enjoy (and enjoyed) the show.

Whoops. I totally forgot to put a spoiler alert about Heroes, so I've deleted my previous post before anyone else could see it. But here's an edited version:

Palmer,

I'm feelin' you about Heroes ... a little.

First of all, before the *censored* with *censored*, Peter *censored* absorbed from*censored*.*censored*?

Second, the scene with *censored*. What was that? And no, I didn't like his answer that it doesn't really matter what it is, only that*censored* was there because*censored*? No way would we let Cuseloff get away with such a "convenient" plot device as that.

And third, *censored* should have been able to*censored* at just about any time*censored*. Jesus, he has more*censored* than*censored*. wtf!?

I'm all for a *censored* ending, and "all you need is*censored*" bullshit as much as the next guy, but I just think it could have been done a lot cooler than it was. I still enjoyed the show "on the hole" (as Aimee would say). So don't think I'm just hatin' right now. I just expected a little more.

But overall, an excellent night of TV. 24 was pretty good tonight too, but I won't get into that. I've gone on long enough.

Can't wait to see the rattlesnake Wednesday night!

International-J said...

For me Heroes didn't free like the end of the season, it was just a regular episode. It wasn't bigger, more amazing, action packed as I hoped it would have been. If it were a comic book, or the way the portray it be a graphic novel, I would find the ending of Vol. 1 to be a total let down. Nothing was concluded with any characters really, I'm assume Nathan is dead, and that bitch ass Sylar is still alive. That the little girl talked about a man more evil than Sylar, and apparently Hiro is stuck in 1600s Kyoto, Japan with a strange eclipse. I don't know, it is going to be torture to wait for the new season to begin. Whenever that is.

Anonymous said...

boner, wtf did you just say? that post was impossible to decipher with those censors. why would somebody who hasnt seen the show read your post past the first sentence? the censors only cause your point to be not made. as for heroes. it was ok, not amazing. i liked how everybody sorta came together at the end.

Plans for tv-dvd purchases:

Lost Season 3 (of course)
The Office Season 3 (ditto)
Heroes Season 1
House Season 3 (I heart Dr. House)

I've lost interest in Grey's Anatomy so I'm not quite sure if I will purchase the next season...

Tomorrow I'm off to buy Scrubs Season 5

Anonymous said...

Sorry, anon. I just didn't want to spoil anybody. I'll rant at a later time when everyone has had a chance to see the finale.

But I do hope that Tim Kring is watching Lost on Wednesday to see how a season finale is SUPPOSED to go down.

Anonymous said...

i think the finale was a bit off because kring changed it at the very end. originally he wanted to totally end the storyline and start over next year. but he found out that people like the characters too much. so he probly had to change a lot of the finale.

Darryl Cunningham said...

I doubt a 'certain' character is dead in Heroes. In the comic book world people are always coming back to life. For superheroes, being dead is like getting a slight cold, you get over it in a couple of days.

Bit underwhelming as finales go, I thought. I'm glad I'm not too invested in the show.

PalmerEldritch said...

wb, i think maybe we're spoiled by how good LOST finales are. looking forward to the DVD release and the new season of Heroes though.

Stephanie said...

I have mixed emotions about last night. On one hand it was satisfying. But then again, predictable. That's exacly how I thought it would end. And since I have no creativity or imagination, if I saw it coming it must have been dull.
There was a lot packed into the hour. I had a lot of "Wow, that was neat." moments. I really wanted to see a two-hour finale but then again if it were longer, it could have lost it's momentum.
I liked the Nikki story for a change. I liked the Nathan twist. I knew Sylar would survive since Zachary Quinto was signed as a series regular for next season. I like the tease of the even badder bad guy. I knew Simone and Mr Deveau were back but I didn't know what the circumstances would be. The spoilers were foilers.

PalmerEldritch said...

24 was the king of foilers last night. i read some spoilers that were completely not even hinted at in the finale.

steph, i'm sick of Sylar. blah! not that i have anything against Zachary Quinto or anything. but hunting a guy down for an entire season with no resolution? meh!

and bring back The Haitian.

Steph, I thought it was predictable too ... I mean, pretty much it happened just like Peter's dream six months ago or so.

And why did Peter need Nathan to fly him away when Peter could have just flown away himself? And who cares if Claire shoots Peter? They could just take the bullet out and he'd be fine. Or they could have just gotten a tranquilizer like they used before on Ted. I agree with whoever said that it felt like more of a regular season episode than a big finale.

trevor, right on. the dude regenerates. if you're willing to throw yourself out a window, what's the problem with shooting him? sure, it hurts him but its the only way to save the world AND he'll get better.

and why didn't he use Nikki's super strength? he saw her beating the muck out of sylar, use her damn powers!

and i really think Molly Walker is potentially the worst thing to happen to the world. if sylar got her powers, all bets would be off.

Trevor McFur said...

I thought he did use her superstrength? She whacked Sylar with the parking meter, then Peter starting beating the snot out of him. I'm just po'ed that he didn't try to fry him with his nuclear powers.

PalmerEldritch said...

maybe. but then he used them like a wuss. all that peace and love crap. meh!

i'm expecting a lot out of the Rattlesnake in the Mailbox tomorrow night. no idea what but LOST has never failed to deliver on their season finales.

Palmer,
i did have plans to do a photographic documentary of the numbers - had 4, 8, and 23 and 108, but couldn't be arsed and got bored thinking about it. 108 was a cracker - it was on the side of a banged up racing car parked in a driveway near my house - my missus got very tired of me saying "Aaahh! the numbers!" everytime went past it.
So the point of this was, don't tell Gavin that the answers aren't 4, 8, 15, etc - he might not put them down as answers for fear of getting one wrong. Especially if this is one of his questions:
(4² x 8²) + (15² - 16²) + (23² - 42²) = (11664/4)

Trevor, if it's what I think it is, everyone will love it!!! It's a great twist that no one will expect and will lead the show down a very interseting path.
What is this I heard about TOQ selling his house in Hawaii?

steph, he's going to live off the land like the Island wants him too.

hopefully, he's just finding a place to live when the show's not in production due to the shortened seasons.
