LOL!!!

Just posted this pic from the previous thread...

Thank to all the bloggers for participating in the discussions, I didn't expect it to get to big (...ok, fine...that's what she said)

Aimee and I, would like a few more calls for "The Others" so far we have 3. We're urging new peeps to call in, not that we don't appreciate the regular callers. I was so excited to hear this week's call from Stephanie Smith (always said with a southern accent). I'm sure the Dharmalars are doing fine with voicemails, but like Jell-O there's always room for more.

Anything you want us (TLI or the 'Lars) to discuss this week?
Dharmalars, I'd like to hear more stories like the waitress who asked you if you watched LOST. I'd also like you hear you go in depth about LOST charcters as StarWars characters. I'm not a big Starwars fan so I think you'd be way better than myself and Aimee.

Jimmy, I'm feeling like the music was always tense in the Juliet scenes...like the staccato plucking of the strings during one of her scenes...is this a clue? Are we not supposed to trust her?

memphish said...

Kim, Of course the music is a clue. It proves Michael Giacchino doesn't trust her either. That lying liar-y liar woman.

Holli

Anonymous said...

I still don't know if it's a double cross situation or not. I find it hard to believe that Jack has put his full trust into Juliet.

I've come to a conclusion that Juliet wants to get off the Island (duh), but she's playing both sides, and going with which ever side gets her home first

Ralph- said...

how did you know that we needed more calls? sweet, cause we totally do.

memphish said...

Kim, I agree about Juliet. Her goal is to leave and she'll go with whichever group will allow her to achieve that goal. Ben's still got the upper hand for now, so she's doing what he wants.

She's going to have a "boy who cried wolf" problem though if she keeps it up. Let's say she turns on Ben in the end but before that she'll have lied to the LOSTies repeatedly. She'll have alienated every single person on the Island so that when Penny's boat pulls off, Juliet's left standing on the shore with Smokey in the jungle waiting on her.

Well Juliet made life where life could be made, So I think it's plausable

Stephanie said...

What was the significance of Juliet tying the knot in the final scene? Forshadowing? Why was she giving Desmond the evil-eye? Just because he has the next episode? I'm so sick of her.

elias said...

I'm getting drunk tonight so hopefully I'll remember. What's the deadline to make the podcast?

elias said...

Steph - I think Lostpedia informed me that the knot took the shape of one of our favourite numbers while she tied it. A lovely little easter egg for us nutters!

RE: Jack and Juliet. I wonder if Jack is calculating enough to be playing Juliet. Maybe even to the point where he might use Juliet as a hostage/bargaining chip with Ben. Although Ben did ditch Juliet pretty fast in the Hydra right before Jack opened that hatch door and let all the water in (can't remember which episode that was in the first 6 eps of this season).

memphish said...

MB, thanks for the link. She had even less of sense of humor in law school, if you can imagine it.

memphish said...

I'm starting to soften on Dr. Stupid Coconut Head. Upon further reflection I'm convincing myself that Jack is in on a plan with someone and part of that plan is that he knows Ben's plan was to leave Juliet behind and get her to the beach.

I think this is why he's so quick to ask "even Juliet?" in Left Behind. He knows she's supposed to be left. If she's not left behind then the plan's been changed without Jack's knowledge. He may even know about the fake Claire illness which would explain him allowing Juliet to retrieve the medicine by herself (which is very un-Jack-like behavior).

Who told him about Ben's plan for Juliet? I don't know. It could be Ben, Tom, another Other, maybe even Locke or Danielle. I don't think it's Juliet because she wouldn't have had to ask Jack why do you trust me at the end of this episode.

I'd like it to be Locke. The fact that Jack tells Juliet that the LOSTies are "good" people makes me think it is Locke and not one of the Others.

Sawyer still loves Kate more and better than Jack does though.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

ooooooh... i liked the theory that Jack was playing Juliet but i like the theory that Jack and Juliet are playing Ben even more. t'would be cool. and totally Jack-like for him not to tell anyone else.

memphish said...

Palmer, you're right. It could still be Juliet who told Jack the plan for her to ask that question.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

i hope Locke does something amazingly cool by the end of the season.

I hope Juliet teaches Jack and the rest of the Losties some Ninja moves so we can have a very Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon season finale. Slo-mo and all.

Kim, I would like to hear you and Aimee duke it out over Jater vs. Skater this next podcast. Using as many foul mouthed examples as possible. Also, we all love to hear you sing 80s theme songs. I'd also like to hear Aimee get really pissed off about something and threaten to beat a character up. Love that stuff.

OK, if Sawyer and Kate are going to be together, then Nikki must rise from her sandy grave and become Jack's new hot babe. Now THAT girl had a smile (and other assets) that Kate would be jealous of. I hope Kate gets syphillis, preggers, and croaks. :)

Can't go with you on the Kate hate Robert. But I could watch zombie-Nikki - wouldn't want to see her pole dance anymore tho.

memphish said...

Robert, as I recall that movie got a lot of publicity. It's not the kind of movie I'd normally know about, but I do and I saw it and I liked it. Con men don't work normal hours. I'm betting Sawyer has lots of time for movies during the day (when he's not reading) or maybe one of his female cons drug him to it.

I am way behind on my blogspotting today! I wasn't at my desk all day. I had a meeting, then went to a promotion ceremony so I could rub elbows with the Chief, then lunch, then the Lt. told me to go home. And I couldn't say no to that!

I'm always up for an angry rant on TLI, but they're so much better when they're organic and not scripted. The Rousseau rant was totally natural. Maybe I can conjure up some fire for a Skater/Jater discussion though. We'll see!

I've got a lot of notes to do, and an appletini calling my name...

GO TWINS!

Oh, I guess we're not just "typing our favorite baseball teams in caps anymore. I'm a little behind on that one.

B. Linus said...

i called up the dharmalars and tli with a point that i'll pose to you all now. it sure seems like ben has a step up on everyone when it comes to the manipulation game, as we witnessed both in man from tallahasse and in one of us. so i'm wondering, does ben have flashes before his eyes like desmond. and if so, could he have gotten his "powers" from the original incident that dr. marvin candle refers to in the swan station orientation film, much like desmond recieved his "powers" when he turned the key that imploded said swan station. just a thought. what do you guys think? am i onto something or am i just on something?

B. Linus said...

Go TWINS! yeah! another twins fan on the spot.

memphish said...

B. Linus, I definitely think that Ben Linus is not a slave to time and space and has something akin to Desmond's flashes only with much much more control over them.

GO BRAVES!

Holli

B. Linus said...

you can just call mb. scot, holli. b. linus is just an homeage to the most interesting character currently on lost.

on a side note: remember '91 when my twins blanked your bravves for ten innings in the seventh game of the world series. ah... the memories.

memphish said...

I'm glad you have that memory to cling to Scot. What have you done for me lately? JK. I loved Kirby Puckett.

As I explained last weekend, I come by the Braves honestly. I went through the 70s and 80s with them stinking up the joint. So far so good this year, but their division looks pretty weak and that's all they've played so far.

GO BRAVES!

i hope Kim gets off a couple of witch-cackle "Razzle-Dazzle"s and Aimee regales us with another tale of hanging tough in Little Rock.

Ralph, Ben & Jeff should hold court on the Star Wars stuff.

Sir William Osler, MD said...

Oh yes, I remember when the Twins kicked some fucking ass in the '91 World Series. I'm not going to lie, they're looking good this year. A lot of publications have predicted them to go pretty far, which would be awesome. We need another World Series.

I really like the idea of Ben having flashes like Desmond. That would explain quite a lot.

PalmerEldritch said...

GO EARL WEAVER BASEBALL FOR THE AMIGA 500!

i'm still pulling for Aimee to do a Pig Latin Singing segment on the podcast with Kim on the banjo.

B. Linus said...

the mets look pretty good in that division too. and if the phillies can pull it together, they might be able to win 90+ games as well. on the outside it looks like a pretty tough division. if the braves keep playin like they are now though, they could very well take back their division crown.

if ben has that "power," would desmond be his ultimate match then? maybe that is why they planted juliet, although i think that has more to do with sun.

PalmerEldritch said...

while ben being magic like RazzleDazzlingDesmond would explain a lot, i hope it's not the case. i think that might detract him from being the Creepiest MotherOther On the Island.

PalmerEldritch said...

Holli, in my opinion, a guy who can manipulate everyone because he can see the future is less creepy than a guy who is manipulating everyone through sheer intelligence, fanaticism, and badassery.

But either's cool with me.

Steph, that's a good catch with the "James" thing. Who'd've thunk that a Juliet episode would be the ultimate Skater episode?

Now, is Kate with Sawyer because she can't be with Jack? Hmmmm?!

Am I helping, Jaters?

Jordan said...

Juliet also called him James this past episode, didn't she? When she was telling him and Sayid to stfu.

I need to rewatch this ep. There was so much good stuff. I'm already starting to forget some of it.

Do we know whose ep it is going to be next week? Or is that too spoilery for some folk?

Don't even get me started on football Palmer, especially college football, especially SEC football. Let's just say all the stereotypes you can think of, around here they apply.

Ironically one of the worst teams, Ole Miss, which is the closest SEC school to Memphis has the very best tailgating. If anyone wants to visit in the fall I'd be happy to take them to The Grove.

Kim, I hope you're developing some good Jater arguments. It's looking grim. I'm standing by my earlier comment that the Cheese (Monterey Jack himself) stands alone.

Jordan said...

Cool. I will shoot you guys a message. Prepare for some serious hate mail. I got some gripes about the show.

And how could I have forgotten that email address? The second I read it, Kim, your voice popped in my head saying it. Love your bumpers! You are the bumper queen.

memphish said...

Lots of baby showers lately Kim. I guess Toronto doesn't have the same problems as the Island does.

Sorry for my Shipper War contributions. It can get distracting, but the episode was relatively mystery light despite everything they showed us. Sub - real way to the Island or not? Ben - how did he get cancer? Ben - liar or not? Jack - dumbass or plan? Juliet - whose side is she on other than her own? Why no Island babied? We've covered all that stuff so now we're left with the "Awwww!" moments and baseball.

Hopefully Ben and Ralph and Jimmy will give us somewhere else to go tomorrow.

Jordan said...

Remember the scene on the beach between Jack and Juliet? Where Jack said something about sooner or later people needing answers. I was trying to think of exactly what he said. Didn't she ask him something like, "what about you needing answers?" If so, that right there would rule out a Jack & Juliet playing Ben together possibility.

Anonymous said...

Yes, my "plans" envolve buying yet another baby shower gift--and wrapping at my friends house over a bottle of wine, complaining how she wants a baby! I'm going broke...and insane

memphish said...

I thought so too at first Jordan, but now I'm not so sure.

Possible scenario: Back in Othersville sub blows up, they put Jack back in the camera house, Ben and Juliet plot. Juliet finds opportunity to tell Jack about Ben's Left Behind plan before the gassing and he agrees to help without needing to know more yet because of the way she looked on the pier when the sub blew. Poker playing people reaidng skills and all.

Otherwise I think Locke or Tom had to tell him. I think he definitely knows Juliet was sent there by Ben and is willing to play along so far. I still would like it to be Locke, but Juliet is probably more likely what with Jack and Juliet's Stockholm Syndrome bonding.

Oh hey. Update on my ongoing legal battle with Time Warner and the Cartoon Network. So I called the law office who has been harrasing me. I explained my side of the story. They said that they would like me to sign a affidavit stating this. I told them I don't see any reason I wouldn't. But here's the thing. Is there any possible reason why I wouldn't want to do this? Could this only further involve me in this stupid case? I just want to get them outta my hair. It seems that they are only doing their due diligence, but you never know.

PalmerEldritch said...

so, the immune system of the Islanders attack the babies? right?

so, are we sold on it just being the "Healing Power of the Island" super charging the immune system to a point where it attacks the babies and kills the mum (ala "House" two weeks ago)? or is something else going on?

oh. if no one's claimed that, then that's my theory. :p

the healing power of the Island is responsible for the immune system attacking the babies.

Jordan,

Find a friend there in Seattle to look at the affidavit before you sign it. Run the idea past a friend of a friend or a parent's friend who's an attorney in Washington state. I don't want you to sign something they can go to the police with and say, see we have a confession.

Palmer, it looks to me more like it's the babies attacking the mommies. Sabine died, not just her baby. The baby attacks the mommy but the baby needs the mommy to survive so the baby dies too or something like that. In fact, I'm not 100% sure the babies do die except for the fact we haven't seen a bunch of 2 and 3 year olds on the Island. Of course we haven't seen creepy Zack and Emma except for in creepy SIASL either.

if we do end up with a BBS, those such as Holli and I will be posting in a Giant Communal Thread that will mirror the blogspot anyhow. am i right? :)

Sir William Osler, MD said...

I'm starting to like the BBS idea. We definately can have huge dicussions just like this one, but we also can have smaller, more specific topics.

And guys, I won't lie. It's tough have the best hitter in the major leagues on my team (the Twins, if anyone hadn't noticed). But, we're able to handle it with grace and dignity. Joe Mauer's going for the repeat, just you see.

Jordan said...

Just wait til you guys face Felix next week. ;)

Morgan said...

On one hand, I like the idea of a BBS because it's more organized; on the other hand, there would be all these different threads with different topics and I would think people would miss out on some discussions. So IMO, I think it should stay how it is. I do wish that the text here would go all the way across the screen, that way we wouldn't have to scroll down so far.

Sir William Osler, MD said...

I am a little worried about that. But, as long as we have Johan pitching the last game, we'll be solid.

Kim - I've been out of touch for a couple of days, so forgive me if I've missed this, but when you mentioned that you had "plans" I first assumed that meant PLANS.

Here's a couple quick comments related to the general discussions:

Me = NL fan. Dodgers baby. Dodger dogs RULE!

Memphish: Hell yeah, 69 = Kablamo. Sometimes it = even more than that.

Do we really want Kim and AImee to try to "force" an argument over something they're not both passionate about? I like a good fight as much as the next guy, but it's so much better if the passion is there. Faking it for my benefit just doesn't do it for me.

Here's some LOST related thoughts:
1. Ben likes vertical striped shirts.
2. Ben was playing Juliet when he told her that Rachel's cancer was back, and that he would see to it that it would be cured if she agreed to stay.
3. Juliet likes to spoon after sex. Spoon ice cream that is.
4. Jack = opposite of House. House asks TONS of questions. Jack; not so much.
4.a. Jack = veterinarian. They don't have to ask questions to diagnose their patients.
5. Since when did Jack get "made"? "She's under my protection"!? WTF?
6. Sawyer has it BAD for Kate. Jack does not.
7. Juliet's toughness is an act. She cried like a baby to try to get off the island after she saw her sister and nephew.
7.a. I hope she hets to see them before she dies.
8. Was the fake horse at the flame in this episode? I didn't see it.
9. Jack is playing Juliet. Juliet is playing everybody. (these were stated earlier, I know...)

One more thing, Kim turned me on to Kevin Smith & Scott Mosier's podcast, and it's pretty damn excellent if you like Kevin Smith. So try it out, and thanks to Kim for the reco!
