i've been listening to the SaS for ages and have finally given in to this blog.

dharmalars thanks for the fight club ending!
great closer jimmy 10/10.

just watched the office Creed + Potato= gold! just that one thing alone kept me up all night. (TWSS)

sorry that wasn't that good for a first time..

welcome JJ! Just finished listening to the 'cast and it was sweet.

Some good contributions from the engineer. Some great references to Tron, Fight Club, etc. Great Jimmy segment - can't wait for the extra show.

Coulda been a stronger defence of Catch22 but I'm sure you'll mention it next week. The problem many people have with it - its batshit crazy sense of humour. Better than botox jokes IMO. :)

Holli, the desirable scenario would be for them to get up without a problem during the week but sleep late on the weekend. After all these years, my husband is still dissalutional to think it could happen.
ralph-, your audio was too low. I guess you know that.
Juliet seemed to respond to the medical record even though it looks like a prop error. Why do they show us the record if it's not authentic? But as ralph- said, they've done it several times. Regardless, I don't believe the sister's cancer came back. Ben was just trying to manipulate her to keep her on the island.

We got a laugh iut of Kelly this week. That was pretty cool.

i havent listened to the entire show, but i know that kelly did laugh one time in honor of Producer Ryan.

Mike, what are we up to in the streak? i haven't been counting. i just keep my head down and power through it.

Once again, my timing was impeccable. I posted the following last night right before the new thread started. Please indulge me the re-posting of this here:

Kim - I've been out of touch for a couple of days, so forgive me if I've missed this, but when you mentioned that you had "plans" I first assumed that meant PLANS.

Here's a couple quick comments related to the general discussions:

Me = NL fan. Dodgers baby. Dodger dogs RULE!

Memphish: Hell yeah, 69 = Kablamo. Sometimes it = even more than that.

Do we really want Kim and AImee to try to "force" an argument over something they're not both passionate about? I like a good fight as much as the next guy, but it's so much better if the passion is there. Faking it for my benefit just doesn't do it for me.

Here's some LOST related thoughts:
1. Ben likes vertical striped shirts.
2. Ben was playing Juliet when he told her that Rachel's cancer was back, and that he would see to it that it would be cured if she agreed to stay.
3. Juliet likes to spoon after sex. Spoon ice cream that is.
4. Jack = opposite of House. House asks TONS of questions. Jack; not so much.
4.a. Jack = veterinarian. They don't have to ask questions to diagnose their patients.
5. Since when did Jack get "made"? "She's under my protection"!? WTF?
6. Sawyer has it BAD for Kate. Jack does not.
7. Juliet's toughness is an act. She cried like a baby to try to get off the island after she saw her sister and nephew.
7.a. I hope she hets to see them before she dies.
8. Was the fake horse at the flame in this episode? I didn't see it.
9. Jack is playing Juliet. Juliet is playing everybody. (these were stated earlier, I know...)

One more thing, Kim turned me on to Kevin Smith & Scott Mosier's podcast, and it's pretty damn excellent if you like Kevin Smith. So try it out, and thanks to Kim for the reco!

i ust wanted to mention, that i did everything in my power to get my audio boosted, but there was a problem with the recording. its almost ironic that my voice was quieter than ever, when it was kelly behind the controls when they malfunctioned on us. i say ironic because kelly was the caller a few weeks back that said i sounded like i had balls in my mouth.

i will make sure that all audio problems do not happen again next week. sorry about that folks, it was my fault.

Stephanie said...

ralph-, it doesn't have to sound perfect to be entertaining. At least it's a better quality than the OLP.

Stephanie said...

Catch 22 written by Brian K Vaughanand Jeff Pinkner. I hope this new guy brings some crazy stuff.

Wow. Saturdays are pretty slow on the ol' blogspot. Great episode, guys.

B. Linus said...

Downloaded the show this morning, and got to listen to it while i drove around delivering and picking up packages all day. pretty decent show guys, even though i sounded funny in the you all everybody segment. first time i heard myself on a podcast. trippy.

the more times i hear it, the more i like jimmy's segment. never relly paid that much attention to the score on lost, but jimmy has helped me see that there are almost as many clues in the score as there are in the script. well done man. lookin forward to the midweek segment.

i also wanna throw a shout to kim. the smodcast is a must for any kevin smith fan, and excellent for any podcast fan in general. with any luck, we may get insight on future veiw askew projects as well. on the last one they spent almost thirty minutes in a discussion about dog puss. very funny. i recomend smodcast as well. good call kim.

2 things from my sick LOST brain.

1. I took my son to see Meet the Robinsons in 3-D and in graffiti on the orphanage roof it says Sarah + Jack, so of course I thought of the Shephards. I wouldn't really recommend the movie; it's pretty dull though the 3-D is cool and you get to keep the glasses.

2. Last Season we found One of Them, Ben in Episode 14, in Episode 17 we found out he was indeed one of them and in Episode 20 he returned to them. Using that as a model for this year Juliet appears to be One of Us in Episode 16, I predict in Episode 19 she'll make a decision/take some action that will confirm she's One of Us, and in Episode 22 (Season Finale) she'll either die or Dr. Stupid Coconut Head will finally get some Island Boom Boom time.

Holli

memphish said...

And here's a question. Kate just heard Juliet's spiel about pregnant women. Do we still think Sawyer's going to get lucky--again?

Holli

Jordan said...

Holli, I tend to think that you are right about Juliet. I think for a few weeks we are going to be forced to play the whole, "Is she or isn't she?" game. I wouldn't surprise me in the least if she is found out by the 815ers, only to redeem herself. Shortly after we as viewers start to like her, BOOM! She dies. I hope that isn't the case, because I already like her. But that's my gut feeling right now.

Jordan said...

I only watched the trailer once. Was that indeed Sawyer that Kate was getting it on with?

Man do I hate working on Saturday. Grrrrrrrrrrr! (bangs head on desk)

memphish said...

Jordan, Here is a screengrab from the promo. Looks like Sawyer to me.

Sorry about work.

Holli

Stephanie said...

Just caught a new ABC promo. Something Sun says, presumably about Jack, really grabbed my attention.
Me too, Jordon. For 16 hours. *whimper*

Jordan said...

Regarding Ben & Juliet's "history" that Tom referred to Jack about. While I know that Juliet sleeping with Goodwin doesn't mean that her & Ben could never have been an item, it does lead me to think that it wasn't the case. Especially with the interchanges between the two of them where Jules said she wanted off the island. Things seemed very business like for the most part. I'm thinking that when Tom told Jack that they had history, he was referring to the stuff about Ben not allowing her to leave the island and so forth. Anybody disagree?

Stephanie said...

I agree, Jordon. I think the writers were just trying to give themselves options with the Tom line.

PalmerEldritch said...

jordan, right on about the "history" just being the confrontation about juliet's sister and the aftermath.

dharmalars, sweet podcast. good stuff all around but i have to admit i really am finding myself missing Producer Ryan's giggling. like other's have pointed out, it let us know when to let out our own guffaws. know what i mean? get kelly and/or jeff some happy pills so they'll bust out some giggles too.

so, went to my buddy's for his kid's birthday party and who should be there? the guy i haven't seen in about 6 years who i went to high school with and who i mentioned on the blogspot a day or two ago had a non-speaking part in a movie with Terry O'Quinn. weird stuff.

i'm looking forward to Aimee and Kim's TLI. good stuff.

Ben, I didn't get Zardoz for my birthday but I'll try to get my hands on a copy to check out this ending that you've kept us from being spoiled on. thanks, man.

- minor spoilers -

Next week isn't a Charlie episode as you guys reported - it'll be a Desmond episode. The upcoming batting order is as follows:

3.17 - Catch 22 - Desmond centric
3.18 - D.O.C - Jin/Sun centric
3.19 - The Brig - Locke centric (island flashback, "Three Minutes"-style
3.20 - The Man Behind The Curtain - Ben centric
3.21 - Greatest Hits - Charlie centric
3.22/23 - Through The Looking Glass (Pts 1 & 2) - Jack centric

The finale is going to contain the "Snake in the Mailbox" as Darlton have described it ... which will be a cliffhanger/revelation about Jack that should shock us so much it would be akin to sticking your hand in a mailbox and having a snake bite it off.

- end minor spoilers -

PalmerEldritch said...

Jimmy said...

I'm going to state my "Snake in the Mailbox" prediction will be that Jack is a psycho murderer. He will be all weird with Bai Ling and kill her.

It would be an amazing shift in the writing direction anyway.

Ralph- said...

PalmerEldritch said...

Mmmm... Nigella...

Now, if Nigella were an optometrist, I'd go get me some glasses.

So, Desmond episode, eh? You lucky ladies.

Sir William Osler, MD said...

A lot of people are disappointed that the finale is Jack, but, based on what I've heard (and I've heard a lot) it's going to be fucking nuts. In the best sense of those words.

mb said...

I second Colin's statement. Should be awesome.

memphish said...

I'm not spoiled about the finale, and I'd like to leave it that way boys, but if Jack has this huge secret why haven't the Others used it against him like Juliet did with Sayid and Sawyer at the tree?

If it turns out Adam and Eve are Jack and Kate and Ben is baby Aaron or some such nonsense, I don't think I'm going to be real satisfied with that. I'd rather Pam Ewing woke up at the end than that.

Holli

Stephanie said...

I want the writers to have a huge, overarching plan that potentially could be figured out. Not that I actually believe I could figure this show out, I just want to think it's possible. Just when I think I've got it, I want them to come out of nowhere with the craziest stuff I've ever saw on tv. That would be the perfect tv show.

PalmerEldritch said...

assuming that the Other's information about our Lostaways is based on research and sleuthing rather than on divination via the power of Jacob or the Island or the Munster, then Jack could have a pre-Island secret that the Other's don't know about. but it would have to be pretty well hidden.

anyhow, i have to say that the Snake in the Mailbox comment makes it very hard for me not to go look up some spoilers. i'll try to resist the temptation.

mb, will you be covering these spoilers in your segment in upcoming weeks?

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, on some level, it'd really stink if we all figured out the show a season or two before it was to be revealed. but it'd suck harder if the writers changed the nature of the show once we'd guessed it.

before my girlfriend made me watch Season 1 on DVD, i was convinced that the show was a cheap ripoff of UBIK due to everyone's theories about it being purgatory.

anyone else have any really stupid reasons that they didn't watch the show? any stupid theories?

memphish said...

Palmer, I have this sneaking suspicion that it is indeed purgatory and that TPTB have to keep denying it because people figured it out so early. People who are spiritually LOST being physically LOST working out their spiritual lostness still sounds like Purgatory especially since no one who survived is not spiritually LOST.

Where are the happily married well-off couples with kids that would have populated that plane? Yeah, I know they're too boring for TV, but really. There were 324 people on the plane, 70 survived, where are the rest?

Holli

P.S. The monster is nano-bots too. :)

Robert said...

What do you guys make of the statement that Juliet made to Ben that she said he had a "tumor" not cancer, yet he seems to KNOW that his tumor was malignant. Remember that Jack told Juliet to biopsy the tumor to see if it was malignant right after he removed it. May be nothing, but seems important in some weird Lost way to me.

it's nightmares and trees.

one forseeable twist in the Jack story is for Christian Shepherd to be linked to the Others or Dharma in a very significant way.
He's dead. Hemming and hawing over that fact is one of my pet peeves. We saw him in the morgue, and, i think, post-autopsy. His body was also probably embalmed before the flight. It's hard to fake all of your organs being in a sandwich baggie.
But I think that there are plenty of hints that Christian was very linked to either the Others or Dharma, and that Jack may be in some way an heir-apparent to the island (Claire too i guess).

or i guess creepy, stalker Jack from the the beginning of this season could be a serial killer.

potato/potato

Discussing some of this stuff makes me itchy for the answers in the back of the book.

andrew.

Stephanie said...

Parade magazine says Naveen Andrews made 3.3 million last year. It also said a guy in my profession made $83,000. In other words, take it with a grain of salt.

memphish said...

Andrew, I love it, nightmares and trees. That was a great SNL skit.

I certainly hope the big Jack thing is more than Christian being affiliated with Dharma or even Christian being alive. If all these dads are Dharma or Mittelos or whatever it's going to seem like a Heroes rip-off even though LOST can claim they thought of it first. And if Christian is organizing his son and daughter being terrorized by the Others he will enter the all-time baddy hall-of-fame.

I don't know, maybe you could explain the Others inconsistencies by a drunk Christian. He's sober he thinks one thing, one day into a bender another, 4 days into a bender another still. That would be pretty hilarious.

I'm reading Wizard of Oz now and am working on my Wizard of Oz theory of LOST. Did you know Dorothy's slippers were silver not ruby in the book? Man!

Fyi, I'm basically Seattle's skin cancer poster boy. I've had all 3 kinds (best to worst) and have to be very careful. I got 2 "suspicious" looking chunks taken off my chest on Friday. All very routine, though it's a bit sore today. The area is small, but they have to go deep.

Historically some of my cancer has been very easy to deal with and barely an issue, and some has been more complex and rather stressful. The worst part today is that my Austin Powers chest has a bald patch the size of your palm on it.

Please feel free to post all your medical ailments here, at ScottandSteve.Blogspot.com

Jimmy, I guess it's good you live in rainy Seattle instead of Miami. In all honesty, be vigilant with those things.

Here's an interesting Wizard of Oz the book tidbit. Before seeing the Wizard Dorothy and crew, even Toto have glasses locked onto their heads. No word if they are glowing blue. Then each sees the Wizard seperately and it appears to each of them as something different, a giant head, a lady, a monster and a ball of fire. They were told before they got to the Emerald City that the Wizard could take any form it chose -- so is Jacob or crazier Ben the horse, the boar, Jack's dad, Yemi, Sayid's cat?

Just something to think about while waiting for TLI.
