w00t!!! But, ummmm, why an Aerosmith video from more than 10 years ago?

PalmerEldritch said...

Sawyer tries to snatch a purse and gets his shoulderless ass beat by Batgirl.

Trevor McFur said...

Ah ha. Guess I should have, you know, watched more than 30 seconds or so!

PalmerEldritch said...

it's painful to watch 90s music videos but, with enough determination, it can be done.

was looking for Josh Holloway's commercial with The Nanny and a Chimp for Old Navy when I found this:

Matthew Fox Audition Tape and a bunch of others. was this stuff on the DVDs and i just never bothered to check them out?

PastPablo said...

Im sorry, I just couldn't make it thru the whole video. Ouch

Trevor McFur said...

That's prettttttttty painful to watch, although Batgirl looks alright. For those who can't stomach sitting through it, the payoff comes right around the 2:00 mark.

Dag, three away from back-to-back 200+ threads.

a few intersting things there, after the recap. the newspaper clippings mention someone whose name starts with a j, and ends with a atham. if that m was an n, it would be locke, although he's not from ny. but michael is...

...i think. its also possible that the newspaper means nothing. if its true though, that'd suck.

also, for laughs, look at the unanswered questions section.

Malcolm in RVA said...

by if its true, i mean if its true that its not true. kinda a weird wording.

Jordan, obviously your momma raised you right.

On the subject of ComicCon, I'd trade my left kidney for a chance to go this year.

Jordan said...

Huh? Whatcha talking bout Steph?

PastPablo said...

Okay, on second viewing, Charlie's death was beautiful (if such a thing can be such a thing) and noble and heroic and very well done.

Stephanie said...

Hey! There's a new Video OLP out now.
Bryan Burk reveals some of the secret sounds used to give Lost it's unique flavor when he takes us behind the scenes for a sound mixing session.

Stephanie said...

Jordan, you have the appropriate respect for women. That's all I'm saying.

Trevor McFur said...

That's a whole lotta unanswered questions Malcolm. Although, the question about the prescription can be answered pretty easily, I think ... Jack forged it. Jack would probably know his dad's license and Drug Enforcement Agency numbers, and would even know his signature to forge it. He probably hoped the script would get right throught the pharmacy without being questioned; as soon as she challenged him on it, he stepped back and took off.

PalmerEldritch said...

jordan, i think Steph's referring to your comment about her and Holli and Kim and Aimee in the last thread.

Jordan said...

Gotcha. But of course. ;)

Joe said...

Hey guys... I'm really enjoying all the chatter on the blogspot... Can we really do 200+ posts a day for 8 months?

Anyway, quick question:

In the Flash Forward, when Kate tells Jack that she has to get back to somebody, could it be her son? We know she might be pregnant in current (Lost) time, so if they get rescued soon, she could deliver the baby OK... Then maybe she and Jack were together for a while but his boohoo attitude was too much for her, so they split up.

I'm really not a shipper, but as theories go, I like ths one.

Trevor McFur said...

Nice theory Jordan ... (surprisingly) haven't heard that yet, but seems pretty credible.

And you the man, Jordan.

PastPablo said...

Locke says to Jack: "You're not supposed to do this, Jack" (leave)

Jack says to Kate: "We weren't supposed to leave"

Hmm

that entire dialog between Kate and Jack at the end will be disected for a long time, I'm sure.

"I can't keep lying" - what are they (the survivors) covering up?

Trevor McFur said...

Whoops, meant to compliment Joe for the theory, not Jordan (although I'm sure that Jordan has some nice theories of his own).

PastPablo said...

Joe, if it IS her son she has to get back to, then that means Sun probably has her baby without problems also (if she makes it off the island alive, that is)

Joe said...

Well... I've had a theory for a while that the pregnancy problems were actually Jacob punishing Ben for the same reasons that Locke yelled at Ben in O-town (houses, refrigerators, running water, electricity, etc...) - it would be an apt punishment, considering how Ben's mother died...

So if Ben continues his downward spiral, and is eventually replaced (or killed), maybe Jacob will lift the punishment and the jizz can freely flow like wine again....

PalmerEldritch said...

joe, according to Aimee, they have a picture of just that on Wikipedia.

great video OLP so far. sure it crashed about a minute in because my iBook is overheating but it had the mud wrestling scene so all is forgiven. thanks for the heads up, steph!

-wow, not expecting to see an Aerosmith video on the blogspot. It's like MYOKMwSAS's own Rattlesnake.

-i'm on Holli's side with the irrational hatred of Juliet. Every time she gives one of those goofy half-smile reaction shots i wish smokey would give her a little taste of what Ecko got.

-Ralph - new issue of Madman came out this week, picked up my copy today.

-the finale was missing something... can't quite place it.. CINDY! Where's Cindy? did she get rescued from the island? Does she need a place to stay?

Scott said...

The part where cindy and the kids went vacationing to Ben's beach shack at the hydra station island was unfortunately left out of the episode.

206 Jordan, in the last thread, when I said that I didn't like the last 5 mins, I was refering to the Jack/Kate/Future reveal. I suspected a flash forward when I saw Jack on the floor with all the maps, and Kate's reveal confirmed it. For a split second I thought it was going to be the Italian lady whose father died last season. Anyway, (For me) Jack is the hero, and to see him completely fly off the handle is troubling for me. It will be in the back of my mind now--no matter what happens or how the get off the island, amazing and heroic as it my be, it has destroyed Jack. I don't want to know that he regrets getting off the island.

t-dot kim said...

Also, SAYID IS THE F-ING MAN! Did I say that already??

International-J said...

Kim, how would you have felt if Jack actually committed suicide?

International-J said...

Hum, History Channel is doing a show on the Spartan 300 story.

t-dot kim said...

What would be the point of it all if he jumped? In all honesty if he jumped, I don't think I would watch anymore. I fell I'm being a bit over dramatic here, but how bad do things have to be for you to kill yourself? There has to be something good...right?? RIGHT??

International-J said...

I think that is why we have 48 episodes left

Darryl Cunningham said...

I'm really hoping that the Lost creators will keep the flashfoward structure when the show comes back. One of the big problems this season has been that fact that many of the backstories have been played out. How many more Kate on the run tales can you stand? Enough with the Jack fighting with his dad episodes. Both the Locke and Sawyer mysteries were resolved when Anthony Cooper died. There's no more to be said about this stuff.

Tons of possible new storylines spring to mind. Will we see Sayid reunited with Nadia in LA? Her recent appearance seems to foreshadow this. Is Kate still on the run? If not, why?

The problem then arises for the writers, about how they can keep the suspense going, when we know that the survivors will be rescued and therefore come to no harm before that point? The solution would be to not cover the fates of all the characters until well into season four. Plus, we know that not every person would even leave the island (Danelle, Rose, Bernard, Locke).

I don't think it's a structure that would work for more than one season, so a return to the Island may happen for season five. Maybe.

International-J said...

To figure out why have things gotten so bad, that Jack wanted to commit suicide.

International-J said...

I can't tell you how the creators will structure the rest of the series. I want to try to guess how this is going to go, but the other half of me just wants to see what is to come without question. Just to absorb the story and nothing more

t-dot kim said...

I just hope that what we just saw isn't the END for Jack. That's how I felt after this episode. In that moment, it was like WHAT?? This is what happened to these people after they SURVIVED?? It's like, why bother?? Oh well, that was my initial reation... I have 8 months to get over it.

Jordan said...

If they do continue the flash forwards, it will be interesting to say the least. If there's a character that we don't see, we will automatically wonder if they didn't make it off the island. If our favorite show is pulling a 180 on us, it will be an adjustment for us. Even if it's for the better.

Jordan said...

In his interview with Kristin from E, Lindelof said that this has been planned from day one. I really wonder if that's the case. If so, I am more hopeful for what's to come. If this is something they pulled out of there asses after hearing all the masses complain that the show is boring now, I will worry.

Darryl Cunningham said...

Kim.

You're presuming wrongly, I think, that this is the eventual endpoint of the series. I doubt that very much. We're going to see Jack's return to the island and redemption. Take heart.

t-dot kim said...

...it may be a good move, 1/2 through the series, completely turn everything upside down

Jordan said...

Kim, I fealt the same way. If the show uses that as the end point and simply continues from where we are at on the island to eventually end up there, I will be a bit disappointed. It's very anticlimatic & no matter what happens along the way, we will always have that hanging over everything. But if more story takes off from that point, it will be quite interesting. I'm hoping that's the case.

mb said...

Pablo - right on - I was just sitting down to post about what you said. It just hit me the connection between Locke asying "You're not meant to do this" and Jack saying to Kate "We weren't supposed to leave". Sounds like Locke had a vision or something, and Jack didn't listen (some can argue understandably).
I posted this last night (2 threads back), but this dialogue is what we are all going to be trying to theorizw about for at least the next 8 months.

(Snake in Mailbox scene of course)

Kate: This is not going to change
Jack: NO! I am SICK of LYING!! We made a mistake.
Kate: I have to go...he's going to be wondering where I am....
Jack: (Pulls her close) We...were not supposed to leave.
Kate: Yes, we were. goodbye Jack (goes to car)
Jack: We have to go back Kate! We have to go BACK!!!

t-dot kim said...

Oh, I know that I'm too quick to predict that would be the end. I was just upset in the moment because the ending was a downer for me. I think Jack is great!--and if the finale were a flashback I can deal with it because I know he's in a good place now. However, it was a flashforward, and it's like WTF happened??? I don't like leaving a story where they're not on the path to "they all lived happily ever after". NOW I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2008!

mb said...

my god - there were like 20 posts while I wrote my last post - lol

Darryl Cunningham said...

I keep having to tell myself that it's only a TV show. Not life and death. I can't go into a coma until Feb 08. I'll just have get on with my life until then. I'm such an addict. Wah!

It's strange. It's much like the end of a love affair. I feel somewhat flat and empty. Yeah, I'm with you Kim.

mb said...

Some people have said this already (including me...I think - lol...so tired)

I would be incredibly suprised if they do not progress the flash-forward(s). That was one huge cliffhanger - not the way a series ends which has supposedly been plotted out to the last episode in 2010. I think we're getting more 2007 storyline for sure.

mb said...

I feel the blogspot moving to the next thraputic step in the 12-step program of how to deal with a Lost off-season - depression. I think we can all be our own support group, we'll get through it, I know we will (lol) :)

t-dot kim said...

I hope so MB. I'd like to see how they get on with their lives instead of us having to read some lame ass text in the last episode of each of them were up to.

Andrew. i loved the new issue of Madman. i tossed it in ben's lap, as you will hear on our show.

Jordan said...

Whenever I hear Ralph talk about Madman, I automatically think of Mathman. Anybody near my age might remember this stupid show that was on after school that was all about math. Forget the name, but anyway there was this pacman rip off called mathman. The guy ran around a pacman style game yelling, "mathman, mathman" and did math equations. That's what I always think of when Ralph raves about madman. Go figure. ha.

PastPablo said...

So, for a little downtime I hit play on Love Actually and who do I see? Rodrigo "Paulo" Santoro. Later on in the film they sing "Catch A Falling Star" - this Lost epidemic is spreading...

Joe said...

Hey Jordan... I believe that show was called "Square One"... And yes, I'm a little scared that I remembered it...

Anyway, Did anyone catch one of the all-time greatest moments in the history of the "Generally Annoying Podcast"? I'm paraphrasing, but it went like this:

Annoying Guy: The relationship between Desmond and Penny is my favorite part of this entire show.

Drunk Girl: Figures you would say that...

A. G.: What do you mean?

D. G.: Of course it's your favorote relationship, they are thousands of miles apart so they can't have sex.

KABLAMO!!!!!!!!!!

Darryl Cunningham said...

Ha Ha!

I have a theory that niether A. G. or D. G. actually like Lost, but are afraid to tell each other.

Square One! Haha! You are correct sir. I remember I used to watch it because I liked the Dragnet, uh I mean Mathnet segment.

PalmerEldritch said...

MathNet was badass. Remember the one with Fibonacci's Numbers and the parrot?

Uh... me neither. :\

Nor do I remember the Quantum Leap on the Cruise Ship with Kate from MathNet as the leading lady for the episode.

Just posted this, and refreshed to realise that two whole threads have popped up since I opened the page in the early hours last night. So if you don't mind I'll repost here:

Personally, I think that the flash-forwards are definitely quite far into the future. It's not a case of them getting rescued next week and suddenly Jack grows an awesome beard. IT's like the first flash-backs, and how everyone assumed all there was in Locke's past was that he fucked up his legs, and that we'd find out soon enough. The gaps in that story took three years to fill in! So I think the 'him', the person in the casket and the big reason Jacks knows they shouldn't have left are yet to be revealed in on-island 'real time'. Or I could be very wrong and s04e01 starts with just Kate and a stubbly Jack being rescued, and Jack feels incredibly guilty for leaving everyone on the island.

I really like the idea that in time even Jack, the 'man of science' is convinced of the islands mystical powers. I like to think it's Ben in the casket and that before getting off the island there's a significant change in alleigance that I kind of hope would happen in this finale.

Oh, and in general. No listening post portugese people, no boat, no real Penny appearance. Did anyone else assume that we'd finally get to see some of these off-island people arriving, or at least on their way? I think that they thought the flash-forward was such an awesome reveal, they could just leave actualy stuff happening on the island for another couple of years. I'm kind of losing my patience.

Stephanie said...

Kim, my real friend (not that you're not my friend, just you are my virtual friend) felt the same as you. She didn't like seeing Jack all screwed up after being rescued. After all that happened on the island, she wanted to see Jack live happily ever after. Seeing him any other way makes what happened on the island, not worth it.

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, let's hope that GrizzlyShepard isn't the end of the story. maybe he dreams up a cunning plan to get back to the Island in Season 6.

memphish said...

5 minutes of Arrowsmith for a few seconds of Holloway. Sheesh. Thanks for the time marking Trevor.

A few thoughts for the blogspot for the day. I'm unfortunately going to be on the road in a couple of hours and haven't packed one thing.

Kim and Steph, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be feeling like you are about the rattlesnake. How can our hero turn out to be such a mess? How is it the Kate is the logical, smart, not wanting to go back, actually with someone who worries about her girl? Where is everyone else?

I'm so impressed that TPTB gave us and the LOSTies the thing we've wanted since they crashed, namely to get off the Island, and yet it leaves all of us anxious and worried and in Jack and mystery coffin boy's case suicidal, instead of joyful. Great emotional manipulation PTB. Bravo!

I hate Juliet. I wanted to make sure that was clear. :D

How awesome would it be if Hurley found and trained a monkey? Then used the monkey to kill someone in next year's finale?

Trevor McFur said...

I think people are freaking out a little bit over that final scene. I don't think it's a stretch to say that there's now two big stories to tell: what happened to bring them to that point, and what happens after that point. Maybe they start in the future and tell the island story with flashbacks, or maybe the flashbacks become flashfowards, but that scene didn't feel like an ending to me, it felt like the beginning to another part of the story.

Square One ... Christ, haven't thought of that in 20 years, at least ... thanks bloggers for a quick trip in the Wayback Machine.

Maybe Sayid could name it after a famous Iraqi/Babylonian? Like Nebuchadnezzar or Hammurabi?

Nebuchadnezzar the Neck Snapping Monkey?

memphish said...

Palmer, I'd say Nikko who according to Wikipedia is the commander of the flying monkeys in Wizard of Oz. Other options:Hanuman a Hindu monkey god; Chim-Chim from Speed Racer or of course Clyde for Clint Eastwood's monkey movies.

Gotta run. I hope everyone has a great Memorial Day Weekend.

Steph, I know you'll ask, so I'm going to Baton Rouge, LA for an unplanned family obligation. Given the plethora of hotel reservations available, I'm the only one going there for Memorial Day.

I'm going to throw out a random Kablamo for the ones I'll miss in the meantime. Also Boobs and I hate Juliet.

Now, back to the chin book. I'm enjoying learning about what goes on in an adolescent boy's mind.
