I just saw an awesome movie at the theaters last night. You all should go check out Knocked Up...asap. F---ing hillarious and I loved it. I think I've pretty much loved almost all of the stuff Judd Apatow (writer/director) has done the last few years. I especially liked 40 Year old Virgin and his short lived tv show Undeclared.
BTW...looking forward to the new Kmi and Aimee episode...hopefully soon.
Can't wait to see Knocked Up. Will have to wait for DVD, I'm sure.

-going to finally watch "28 Weeks Later" today. i have high hopes since i absolutely loved "28 Days Later".
-Stephanie - Royal Tennenbaums is easily one of my favorite movies ever. It was on cable the other day and, even though i own the DVD, i couldn't stop watching it. If you've missed any of the other Wes Andersen movies, be sure to check them out: Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, A Life Aquatic - are all awesome.
-I'm pretty sure the Arrested Development episode was just referencing all of the Charlie Brown holiday specials. They had the shot of the beagle sleeping on top of his red doghouse too. Those specials are so strange and moody.

I didn't care for The Life Aquatic when it came out but I think if I were to revisit it now that I get it I'm sure I'd love it as well.
i didn't like Rushmore the first time i saw it but revisiting it after loving Royal Tenenbaums made a huge difference.
i love Life Aquatic. It's like Boy's Life Magazine brought to, er, life. I wonder if younger people will have that frame of reference at all. I'm already on the tail end of that era and mostly know that world through my older brother and from growing up where the Cousteau clan lived.
Royal Tenenbaums is better imho. it's pretty much perfect.

I want to see what the movie is he's supposedly shooting in that American Express commercial with Wes and Jason Schwartzman where they blow up the car and as if they can attach a bayonette to a revolver...it looked funny, but I know it was all probably fake.

Jordan, that Nancy Grace link is hilarious. I sgree with a lot of the comments that the animal footage was probably spliced in by some clever Internetican. Still funny though ... Nancy Grace is one nasty piece of work.
And for anyone who wants some hard-to-wrap-your-head-around Lost theorizing, check out this article by J. Wood. I'm not sure that I buy it, but the possibility that the guy on the boat being named 'Minkowski' is a big clue lends it a little bit of credence.

i think that Cuseloff and the Writing Room just google topics like "Time and Space" and then pick names from the results to mess with our little internet brains.

Sorry if this is old news to you all (particularly to Palmer, since you were debating this issue recently), but Disney just announced that Lost won't be released on Blu-Ray.

hmmm... i was just reading about the 1080p upscaling firmware update for the PS3 and starting to waver in the PS3 direction (as opposed to the X-Box 360). now, i learn that there'll be no Blu-Ray LOST. :(
but there could be el cheapo DVD LOST upscaled to 1080p on my 1080p TV on a PS3. hmmmm...

This is why I refuse to play the hi end dvd format war game. It's all politics. One company isn't going to out it's show on dvd because of it's ties to other companies. Screw that shit.

yeah, the format wars are unending and extremely annoying. but my buddy has a PS3 so he's bringing it over tonight and we'll play around with upscaling DVDs to 1080p. i don't expect it'll look as good as a blu-ray or hd-dvd would but it'd be cool if it looked better than a non-upscaled dvd (480p?). i think hd-dvd players can do the same thing.
besides the format wars, there is also the X-Box 360 v. PS3 wars. meh!
bourbon chicken update: pretty good and the girlfriend likes it so i'm off the hook for buying three pounds of the stuff. yay for frozen foods.

this was the article that got my brainz working over time. i guess high-end blu-ray players could already upscale DVDs but now the PS3 can too. which makes it an inexpensive (and good) blu-ray player that's also a gaming system.
but are blu-rays going the way of the dodo? and are all the good games going to be X-Box 360 exclusives?
or are blu-rays going to dominate and will game developers figure out how to utilize the ps3 hardware?
if we can get Desmond off of the Island, then we can just ask him.
All I know about bluray is that it's capacity is much great than hddvd. A dual layer bluray can hold up to 50 gb while a dual layer hddvd holds only 30 gb. I think the only thing hddvd really has going for it is the name dvd in it. Consumers tend to gravitate toward what they think they are familiar with.

alright, PS3 with 1.80...
we didn't get much testing done because we ended having to track down a PS3 to USB cable and then we got distracted by Doctor Who and then we got stuck playing the games we were testing...
upscaling worked for Ultimate Spider-man. looked better with the settings turned up.
DVDs, it seemed to make Brisco County Jr look better but LOST looked about the same.
i actually have a 1080i tv, not sure why i thought it was 1080p. and it's only 32" so people with big screens might have more luck!

i tried to make it through 12 pages of discussion about it but i couldn't make it through this mess this late at night.

anonymous, luckily my buddy brought his HDMI cable with the PS3. but he did forget the USB charging cable that you need to update the Firmware. so we wasted a good hour or so tracking one down. i think that if we both hadn't been half asleep, we might have been able to figure stuff out. but those links i posted have a lot of happy PS3 owners.
Boo PS3 Hooray 360. Untill the new metal gear comes out. Then hooray PS3 and i hope to have money to buy it :)

One bad thing about working weekends is My Best Friend's Wedding all the time. TBS needs a new rotation of movies. Charlie's Angels was on several weekends in a row. So, I get Cameron Diaz making an idiot out of herself on Soul Train and in a karaoke restauant for many, many weekends in a row.

Palmer, thanks for the links to all the PS3 talk. It's making me seriously consider it now. I've been on the fence for a bit now. But one of my biggest gripes is how crappy all my old dvd's look on my new lcd. And I have a huge dvd library. If things are as good as some of these guys are saying, I just might finally break down and go with the PS3. And it seems that there's a lot more room for updates and improvements yet. That's the biggest thing with the PS3 vs 360. The 360 is simply a gaming machine where as the PS3 is truly a home entertainment system. Damn. Now I gotta find $600 laying around somewhere.

Yeah Jordan - Olympiakos is my Greek team - utterly dominant in the Greek League and also utterly corrupt.

I've seen quite a few games myself. Riots followed every one. When we got back home after the AEK match we turned on the TV and saw the AEK chairman get stabbed in the arse by angry fans. It was obvious the referee had been paid to make sure Olympiakos won.
Still, I'd recommend it as a good day out ;)
