I predict that young ben was a happy camper as long as he had a book or ten, and he become so "bug-eyed" due to excessive reading by moonlight

Was the Tonka truck Ben's? Was the destruction of the Tonka truck what led to Ben's Napoleon complex which requires underlings to carry his books?

I mean come on. How many friends do you have that will help you move at all, much less that are willing to carry the boxes labeled books?

Survivor Jizz Island Episode 10

Things are heating up. After all we are near the Equator, at least according to Sayid. After the first 9 rounds, these survivors remain.

Team Razzle Dazzle

Dr Jack
Kate
Desmond
Charlie
James "Sawyer" Ford
John Locke
Hurley
Sun
Sayid

Continuing the crossover reality show theme, Round 10 is Dancing with the Stars Night and will feature a triple eliminatioin. With only 2 women left, things did not look good for most of the men.

Sawyer quickly claimed Sun as his partner. Having background information on Kate's moves cemented that choice for him.

Kate asked Jack to dance, but he said he'd rather dance with anyone other than Kate. Charlie took that as an opportunity, and given his height, quickly became the girl in the couple.

Locke paired up with spry Hurley. Desmond only trusted Sayid. That left Kate with no one, so she ran away and was eliminated.

The judges found Sawyer and Sun's performance "theatrical, well choreographed, danced wonderfully, and they had the fire and passion required". Jack and Charlie "took a little long to get into their dance, but once they did it was really good." Locke and Hurley's "synchronization is very impressive. They had very intricate work with their arms as well." Desmond and Sayid "kind of fell apart in the middle when they knelt on the floor."

Desmond and Sayid were eliminated.

I would puncture myself in the lung to get Lost an hour earlier. And to not have American Idol on anymore.

This proves that DL despite his cool comicbook geekiness is really just a normal geek.

From People:
Lost and Found: In past seasons, Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof says he had to stay mum about his American Idol obsession because the Fox juggernaut aired in the same time slot as his ABC drama. "This is the first year I'm out of the closet as an Idol fan," he tells PEOPLE. "Nobody can give me crap for cheering on Blake." Lindelof, who attended Tuesday night's show with wife Heidi, jokes that fans of Idol and Lost shouldn't fret that the shows' two-hour May 23 season finales overlap between 9 and 10 p.m. "I promise nothing good will happen the last 10 minutes of the nine o'clock hour so people can see who wins and then they can switch over to Lost and it will really get good."

i like the image of a young blissful Ben living a care-free bucolic childhood on the island. I also like the Tonka truck being his, but that runs into a lot of timeline problems since the polar bears purportedly belonged to Dharma and their rampage was a result of Dharma's demise.

The fact that Ben is 40something does place him on the island before Dharma.

My new pet theory: Cindy = Jacob - but mostly because i want her to play a bigger part and i want her to stop dressing like Mr. Greenjeans.

Zephyrus (andrew. if you're nasty)

PalmerEldritch said...

My prediction:

Ben predates the DHARMA videos, but not the initial construction of the DHARMA buildings and therefore not the DHARMA Initiative myself.

DHARMA sends workers to go the Island to make all of that stuff. It takes several years for them to put it all together and during that time, they realize that the Island is special and go rogue. Ben is born into that group.

Then DHARMA sends more people and they finish the construction and set up shop doing their DHARMA stuff. Then Ben and the Hostiles war with the Dharmations.

PalmerEldritch said...

hmm... that theory doesn't tie in Mittelos at all. crap!

Episode 11 -Survivor: Jizz Island

This episode has a special guest, the balding one... Donald Trump. The remaining members of Team Razzle Dazzle, are each given a small black bag of diamonds and told to buy, sell... make a profit from the island. This is easier for some than others... Sawyer excels and divvy ups the island's contents selling Othersville as prime real estate on ebay. However, he is surpassed by Sun, who extorts his earnings with threats using her shady korean connections. On the other side, Hurley almost loses all of his diamond bag in a poker game with Charlie, but the biggest two losers are Jack and Locke. Locke needing something to sell, realizes that although he doesn't have 2 kidneys anymore, he does have 2 corneas... he just needs a surgeon to buy... step forward Jack who can't resist holding a scalpel and gives John his bag of diamonds. He's now the proud possessor of a transplantable cornea. John in homage to Mikhail adopts the nickname McPatchie. At the boardroom Jack is fired due to having no currency left.

I finally got around to listening to the Lharmadars. What is Ben smoking with his Anthony Cooper was the same as Yemi nonesense? I was screaming at my computer for Ralph to tell him he was crazy. I could tell he wanted to, but he was too nice to do so.

Ralph, does your crackpot theory about Walt being Jacob have to do with Walt's "ability" and the fact that everybody on the island sees inexplicable things? That's pretty interesting to think about.

Kirklain said...

surely we should be hearing hips don't lie by shakira on the show? if indeed we are going all hippie...

mb said...

Jordan -
LOL - funny point re: my hippie name - but it IS fitting as I have NOT lied (cue Billy Joel "An Innocent Man")

Ralph- said...

i do not believe in ben's theory, but it is somthing to think over. i do not agree with it, but i feel that it could be a possibility.

Anything is possible with this show.

I find it strange for Ben to let people off the island if the world believes that Flight 815 is at the bottom of the ocean. Whether he set up the Plane in the ocean or not, Ben does not want the island exposed, and that is something that michael could do when he was "let go".

They got more than they bargained with when Walt came around. Walt told Locke not to open the hatch. Clue asked Michael if Walt has ever appeared in places that he shouldnt be. Walt showed up in places in front of Shannon.

How could Walt be more than Ben could handle? Ben can handle quite a bit.

I honestly believe that the Walt/Michael storyline is a key factor in this show. I think that they will come back before we know it.

People dont just ride off into the sunset on lost. think of all the characters that have gone away. Every single one of them has been epic, From Artz to Ethan.

Walt may not be Jacob, but he is still important to what is going on, on the island. Who knows, maybe WALT IS THE "MAGIC BOX". Ben can ask walt to make anything appear that he wishes.

Stephanie said...

I see what you're saying, ralph-. If Michael and Walt weren't important, they would have just been killed off. Even characters that have been killed off turn out to be pretty important to the story.
mb, I figured those who were emotionally invested in the iPod story needed resolution.

elias said...

Munchies: Coco Pops

...walt is the magic box...i like that thought...

i mean we all know the other Walt has a Magic Kingdom

Jordan said...

Ralph, do you think they will bring back Walt even if they aren't able to get Harold Perrineau back? If so, how would they explain it? And I still can't for the life of me begin to think how they are going to deal with explaining Walt being 3 ft taller and having a deeper voice than Michael.

memphish said...

Ralph, I like the Walt is the Magic Box idea. He and Locke were good friends. Maybe Walt brought A Coop to the Island so that Locke could move past that part of his life. I like it.

As for the hippies, it's pure speculation on my part as well. All I've got to go on is Karen DeGroot's groovy hair and Gerald DeGroot's groovy beard from the Orientation film and video.

Ralph- said...

I watched an episode of the Twilight Zone last night called "The Big Tall Wish", it got me thinking about the mind of a child.

Why should we believe that Harold P really left the show under bad circumstances?

He could come back. this could all be a mind game by the producers. I saw a pic on DDK myspace page that showed Holloway,Perenau and Kim all happy as can be. Maybe the whole money grubbing whore thing was all a set up, so that we would believe that michael wasnt coming back.

Maybe the others told walt that his fater died, and that Locke wishes he could get his father back too.

PalmerEldritch said...

aimee, i was reading about Knut. that dude will always be cute in my book. either cute or a two ton death machine. either way, Knut's the man.

i still think you and Kim need a baby polar bear to raise as the TLI mascot.

Trevor McFur said...

I could see them bringing Walt or Michael back as kind of a final reveal in the last episode of the year ... something to chew on for 8 frikkin' months. For Walt's growth spurt, maybe that just needs to be considered under 'suspension of disbelief!' After all, can't make the kid stop growing. Well, I guess that you could introduce him to cigarettes...

elias said...

I'll say what nobody wants to hear - different child actor to play Walt. That would require total suspension of disbelief.

Ralph- said...

if we believe that walt can travel and drip his way around the island and that pregnant mothers die in the second trimester, then we can believe that Walt has accelerated growth.

Stephanie said...

mb said...

Ralph,
Really good point about Walt and Michael now that we know about the 815 'remains'. It is certainly possible that Penny's team picked them up, but since Ben SAID they would 'find rescue' (i think that's what he said) it wouldn't make sense that he would let them back into the world -
Unless Handsome Jack's crackpot theory (of Jay and Jack) is right and it's actually CHARLES Widmore who sent Naomi, and perhaps Widmore Industries is cozy with Mittelos Bio. I think I just spent all the brain-power I had for the day

- Honesty

Jordan said...

What? Walt can time travel? Where do you get that from Ralph?

As for Knut. I saw a funny thing on The Colbert Report the other night where apparently somebody has done a scientific study to show how Knut is getting progressively "less cute" as he ages. Hahaha. Sometimes this world makes me giggle.

Jordan said...

I agree with Ralph. The whole Harold Perrineau thing could be a big set up by the producers. Apparently our distrust of any and everybody from the show has creeped into the real world. lol.

BUT...if Perrineau doesn't come back for whatever reason, how do you explain it on the show? Do you just not reference it and hope people forget?

Jordan, that's what I was just watching (the thing about Knut). I watch the Colbert Report during the daytime, usually a few days after it originally airs apparently.

Jordan said...

My bad Ralph. You just said travel. lol. Guess I've been watching too much Heroes.

Aimee, The Colbert Report is awesome. I like it better than the Daily Show now. I don't usually watch the Daily Show too much anymore. It's gotten a little bit too serious and political for my tastes. But Colbert is pure hilarity.

elias said...

As a foreigner I prefer the Daily Show - even though we get it one day late, which makes no sense to me.

Ralph - accelerated growth will be how the writers blag it if he comes back at all.

There's gonna be some groovy Dharma accessories tonight - any predictions? I'm hoping for Dharma short shorts :)

Ralph- said...

sorry , but if Lost gets into "real" time travel i will be pissed. This is why i am happy that there will be only 48 episodes after this season.

Every episode will count. Story Arcs will have to finish up all at a certain time.

This is good news for the story, but not for us who have to fill all that empty time.

elias said...

Bollocks - I forgot the 69 KABLAMO!

Jordan said...

I am the same way Ralph. I will get pissed if they go too supernatural in general. I really want there to be at least quasi-plausible explanations to everything. I don't want the explanation to be, "It's magic!" That would be a let down.

Elias, you guys get The Daily Show & Colbert? Wow. I always wondered if people outside of our country knew of such things. Seeing as how many people outside the US think everybody in our country supports our government. What channel do you get them on?

mb said...

Stewart/Colbert '08

elias said...

I know Kim takes the piss out of English TV choice but we get about 25 channels free now. More4 shows Daily Show but no Colbert. I check both via a 'magic box' ;) because I'm a political junkie.

And those people with naive views on American politics are also averse to British politics and current affairs also. White Van Man only reads The Sun, one of Murdoch's pernicious tabloids.

mb said...

AH - THAT explains the Sun's general demeanor - lol
I did not know it was owned by ol' Rupert.

Jimmy said...

I'm in the same boat as MB, and Steph...I have little to add. Looking forward to it of course, but am currently going through one of my insomnia bouts. Had about 4 hours sleep in 3 days. Will crash out tomorrow if all works to the usual plan. All this has left me confused, tired, cranky etc...

But can I mention that someone asked about it being a 70's flashback episode and what the music may be? I thought about this a few days a back and have a strange feeling we are going to hear some "Carpenters". Possibly "The Captain and Tennille"...there is no logical reason for these choices.

Jimmy said...

"White Van Man"?

Is that a new'ish term back home? I've been away for a long while, Elias.

Stephanie said...

Jordan, I think the world as aware of the real deal in the US. Or as Elias said, the ones that pay attention do so. I just worry the world sees the US through movies like American Pie or tv shows that don't accurately represent us.

OK Palmer - we have to pay the license fee but I can afford it. I like the fact that it's only half-price if you're blind.

So no ideas on Dharma accessories tonight? Dharma frisbee?

Jordan said...

Steph, I've traveled a good deal throughout Europe and I have come across more people than I expected who basically viewed the entire US as a bunch of George W Bush Jr's. It's really sad. I know that there are a good deal who aren't that ignorant and actually understand things like Elias. But it really was strange. I was on a couple occasions forced to defend US foreign policy while I totally sided with the Euros. Again, I don't mean to paint everyone with the same brush as that is what I experienced myself. I think that just in general many people are ignorant to happenings outside their country. I mean, just look at most Americans.

Elias, you guys get 24 free channels now? That's pretty good compared to the 4 BBC's that it used to be. But don't you guys have to pay a yearly fee for owning a television? Basically to fund the BBC, right? And isn't White Van Man a newspaper skit where the Sun asks random people on the street a question? I remember hearing Ricky Gervais talk about it on his podcast.

elias said...

yep Jordan we pay £140 p/a for some quality programming - no big deal.

White Van Man is a wider description of a pro-Blair, pro-war, racist man on the street.

When I travelled I also ended up defending my country, sometimes justly, sometimes out of pride or homesickness.

Anonymous said...

I can't wait for lost tonight. And even more I can wait for tli with that great spoiler guy and his mac!

Jimmy said...

So when I go back home (which is both the UK and Australia)...I end up defending Americans greatly. Trying to explain that we are not "all" like that. I really have to explain to them that politically the US is really 2 countries. The coasts, and the heartland. I live on the coast :)

Actually this has become home now which was a surprise to me but a welcome one. I love Americans...shit, I even made one!

Jordan said...

I totally understand what you are saying Jimmy. When I have been overseas, esecially Europe, I always found myself having to explain just how big the US is and how the difference between people on the west coast and parts of the midwest is just as big as the US and Europe.

Jordan said...

I wonder if many people trying to be spoiler free is the reason we always seem to have so little to talk about on wednesday's before the new episodes.

PalmerEldritch said...

what i don't get is why someone traveling through Europe should have to defend anything about America. they're just there to spend their money and have fun. charge them too much and be done with it.

i never gave any Exchange Students from Europe any shit about their governments. and European governments have made some pretty unpopular decisions in their time too.

of course, it's always OK to make fun of the French. :)

p.s. anyone ever watch that show LOST? i hear it's pretty good.

Jordan said...

Palmer, I can't speak for everybody outside the US, but the people who forced me into arguments were extremely critical of the US as is much of the world. Again, I don't want to paint everybody with a broad brush, but the people who gave me crap were looking for a Bush loving pro war American to fight with. They were almost disappointed when I refused to defend the government. But like Elias said, when you are put on the defensive by overly opinionated foreigners who are making outlandish generalizations about your country, you end up defending things that you normally wouldn't. For example, I had some people who were so holier than thou with their criticism of the US that I actually defended the US by saying that that while the US is f'd up, their countries have their own fair share of problems. I don't know why, but in my view from my experiences young people in Europe are much more politically minded than young Americans. I mean, if a bunch of kids from the UK came to Seattle, I wouldn't go out of my way to bring up Tony Blair and try and get them in a debate. That would be the last thing I would want to talk about. I backpacked all over Europe and the worst guy that I actually got in an argument with was Australian. His shit didn't stink in his view and the rest of the world was morons. Now, I as critical of the US as could be. But don't act like your government is perfect. All governments are f'd up, just to differing degrees. Ok, mini-rant over.

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, i think we're on the same page. they're just itching to take out their frustration on any American that they can find so they can feel morally superior. which is, stereotypically, what the Snooty European is into. :)

i am uber excited for LOST. but i've still got so freakin' long til it's on. what's ben's story? i know i'll find out in two and a half hours but i'm an impatient guy.

are we expecting lots of onIsland progress as well as Ben backstory? or are we going to get a near meaningless onIsland story in favor of an uber cool backstory for Ben?
