I know this is all about LOST, but did anyone catch Conan last night?

[ally] said...

no.

:D

t-dot kim said...

No, what happened Ralph?

Trevor McFur said...

No, but I love the recent trash talk and fighting that's been going on between Conan and Colbert/Stewart.

Someone needs to come up with a funny caption for that picture on the front page.

mb said...

How about

"Just remember...YOU kissed me FIRST freckles!"

PalmerEldritch said...

ok, ralph, did YOU catch conan last night?

is the "He" that Kate has to go back to in the finale last year her son with Sawyer? hmmm?

Ralph- said...

If you have yet to join the (sorta) Official Scott and Steve Oscar Pool, what are you waiting for?

I'd really like to see 'Falling Slowly' win best song, and 'Ratatoiulle' win best score. I also wish that I could put in a write in vote for 'King of Kong' as best doc.

memphish said...

If you haven't seen Conan's mention of Ralph yet, you can see it at the NBC website. Go to watch full episodes of Conan, pick last night's show, wonder why the ad is about creating a holiday card here in February, then fast forward to approx. the 17 minute mark.

Now that my kid knows who Conan is, she is setting the DVR to record it. Every night. Great. I know what we'll be watching while getting ready for school each morning from now on.

memphish said...

Cane has been cancelled! Yeah!!!!! Dr. Eyeliner is free.

Malcolm in RVA said...

Forget it, Jake. It's Eggtown.

i have no fucking clue why its called that. it sounds so goofy. well, only a few more hours until i find out.

and if cane got canceled, hopefully Richard will be back. it seems like they've been kinda avoiding the others. the only one we've seen this season was Ben.

oh.

IRON MAN trailer during LOST tonight
. w00t!

Malcolm in RVA said...

oh. i listened to the official lost podcast finally, and im sure someone said this already, but kate IS one of the oceanic 6 (not a spoiler)

Stephanie said...

Anyone near Akron, Ohio? I might need some info.

Stephanie said...

Sayid looks like this in his flash forward.

Trevor McFur said...

Kate's one of the six?
That's totally a spoiler.
Please be more careful.

Lost is on real soon
We're all going to Eggtown
I think that Kate's hot

Ralph- said...

wasn't Kate considered part of the 6 as soon as we saw the end of Through the Looking Glass?

PalmerEldritch said...

trevor, the OLP was chock full of semi-spoilery info. but i guess we sort of already kind of knew about kate cuz of the season finale. we just figured she was smarter than that. mebbe we'll find out more tonight?

PalmerEldritch said...

i guess we just figured that kate being one of the oceanic 6 was just too easy, ralph.

Jordan said...

I've always thought that Kate isn't going to be part of the "6". With her fugitive status and all. And when we saw her in the finale last year, I got the feeling that she was in hiding. With Jack meeting her in the middle of the night and in some dark alley and all.

Jordan said...

So YES, I do consider that a spoiler. (sigh)

PalmerEldritch said...

oh. will future kate meet up with that firefly guy once she's back from the island?

Malcolm in RVA said...

dude, trevor, sorry for spoiling, but she was in the finale, and i just assumed she was. the way the official lost douchebags, i mean podcast siad it, it was like it was obvious. thats what i assumed. sorry for spoiling you. im spoilerfree anyways.

Malcolm in RVA said...

i know it sucks to be accidentally spoiled. sorry about that guys. really didnt mean to.

Malcolm in RVA said...

i feel like ive kinda brought down the mood. to lighten it up a bit, has anyone ever heard of the comedian/musician richard cheese? aka dick cheese. he's really funny. its covers of rap and metal songs, but done in a classical style. it sounds really funny.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Nza2LB4BAw0

this is from dawn of the dead. he did a piano lounge music cover of "down with the sickness" by disturbed. hilarity ensues.

Malcolm in RVA said...

oh, and just to be safe, i dont have to be spoiler free in the episode discussion once its on, right? i dont want to spoil any west coasters.

Malcolm in RVA said...

6 posts in a row? what a loser this silent bob guy is.

memphish said...

Now that we're about to go live, the West Coasters will bug out Silent Bob. I'm wondering if the Sayid thinking with his heart not his gun means Naomi? Still feels like something's not right with her body.

Holli

Malcolm in RVA said...

k. cool. i guess thats why im so alone now.

anyone notice the grey hairs on sayid's beard? maybe im just a dick pointing out the flaws of an actor, or they gave him fake white hairs to show that this flashforward is later.

and did anyone notice that the end "lost" noise was different?

ooh. it starts!!!

Malcolm in RVA said...

i hate kate. im glad she finally gets what she deserves. that look on her face seemed like she didnt think anything she did was wrong in the least, and she was really "not guilty" i hate her.

Malcolm in RVA said...

wait, i though her mom died.

Malcolm in RVA said...

ooh. i just got a theory. ill have to go back and watch, but in the last scene of the finale, does kate mention anything about the "he" who will be wondering where she is, being her boyfriend/husband? if not, he could be her son, and she could just be a single mother.

Trevor McFur said...

No worries 'bout the spoiler, SB.

So are there any kernels to be gotten from Jack's BS story? The big thing that stood out to me was 8 survivors, 2 died = Oceanic 6. I wonder who the two supposed deaths were?

Rrb said...

"Oceanic Six
Grows by one or is it two
Did the rabbit die"
first I'm deleted now I'm dead?

Trevor McFur said...

kablamo!

Trevor McFur said...

Jesus, Miles is a joke.

Alirio said...

Are you kidding me??? Aaron?

WTF?

memphish said...

I knew it! Which just leads to a million more WTFs?

Holli

Malcolm in RVA said...

k. ive made too many posts in a row. ill just post all my thoughts at the end of the episode.

i really like how the roommates paired up. this whole locke side of the episode has really gotten me pumped up for what i hope the island will be like if jacks future plan to get everyone back to the island works out. this is what the rest of their lives could be.

i really hate kate.

i really really hate kate.

the thought of someone like kate raising a kid is exactly why america is doomed.

what's wrong with daniels memory? 3 cards? and what's wrong with the helicopter?

that was badass, locke, but i wonder if that could mess up and kill miles.

kate had no right to slap sawyer. he was 100% right. i really really fucking hate kate.

i dont care how good her reasonings were. kate still killed the dude, and killing people is fucked up.

that ending was awesome, but it gives me a perfectly good reason to say "i really really really fucking hate kate. i want her to die. soon."

memphish said...

RedRabbitBlue, I didn't mean you. In the olden days, they used to use female rabbit parts to determine if a woman was pregnant. If she was they said "the rabbit died." There's a MASH episode where Hot Lips thinks she might be pregnant that used it. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Holli

Stephanie said...

Holy crap! Maybe I will get my wish.
Aaron is old enough for strained bananas.

Stephanie said...

Daniel= head injury?

Trevor McFur said...

Wow.

I don't think that anyone called Aaron being 'him'.

And how about Locke?? What did he say? There's no point to having rules if there's no punishment? Wow.

Malcolm in RVA said...

is anyone watching eli stone? it looks stupid.

yeah. she fucking stole aaron. that bitch. so i guess this means claire isnt one of the oceanic 6. she got onto the helicopter, according to des though. curious. so i guess this sparks off one of those classic soap opera "SHE STOLE MY BABY!!!" scenarios. its cool at first, but after i think about it, its cheesy. oh well. ill be along for the ride, and its not like i can do anything.

WHY THE FUCK WAS IT CALLED EGGTOWN?

did i miss something?

Trevor McFur said...

Locke made the last 2 eggs for Ben.

A grenade kind of looks like an egg.

That's all I got.

Malcolm in RVA said...

nah. trevor. i called it! at 9:15. i swear i didnt read any spoilers.

well, i didnt call that it was aaron, but still. i was in the ball park.

Malcolm in RVA said...

lol trevor. youre right, but is it really title worth?

and steph, im with you on the head injury thing. is it just me, or are dan and charolette fucking?

Trevor McFur said...

Is Faraday maybe autistic? He and charlotte seem to be more than just colleagues, at the very least.

Trevor McFur said...

Lots of people called that 'he' was Kate's son, but I never heard anyone say that he was Aaron specifically.

Malcolm in RVA said...

i think i remember some podcaster joking about her stealing aaron. it might have been from the lost lowdown.

a dingo ate my baby!!!!

[ally] said...

i kinda figured it would be aaron, but didn't say anything since i didn't know until i was already watching the show and nothing/no one else exists while i'm watching LOST.

how awesome is it that after all this time, ben is still able to mess with locke's head, just like he did back in the day when they first caught him.

Malcolm in RVA said...

who was that babysittor? just a friend or something? and are we to assume that kates big house is because of the settlement sayid mentioned?

Malcolm in RVA said...

yeah ally. i noticed that ben is kinda regressing to henry gale days, where he has nothing to fight with other than his words, which are still a very strong weapon.

[ally] said...

you mean "my bay-bee"

so why wouldn't jack want to see the bay-bee, does he know that he's related to claire? and feels resentful? or was it just some cheap ploy to make us think it was sawyer's seed?

[ally] said...

the way they revealed the baby sitter, it seemed to me that she's meant to be someone we already know or that we're supposed to know.

maybe we're just over thinking it.

Malcolm in RVA said...

yes of course. bay-bee

a fugitive stole my bay-bee

and i think that it was both a trick to think its sawyers, but really, jack knew it was aaron.

man. im fucking addicted to these hershey's caramel kisses. theyre so awesome.

PalmerEldritch said...

huzzah!

a Philip K Dick book!!! i freakin' flipped out when Locke grabbed a hold of VALIS. too bad it wasn't "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch" though. i should probably read VALIS since its been sitting on my bookshelf for a couple of years. hmm...

so, what happens to Claire? is she eaten by a polar bear? does she fall off of the helicopter? out of the helicopter?

is Claire OK and does she give Kate her baby to save him from whoever wanted her baby back when she was in Australia? prolly not, eh?

glad to see Sabrina's Aunt on LOST again. wish Salem the Cat had shown up though.

PalmerEldritch said...

oh. jack doesnt want to see aaron because he couldnt save claire. and he feels all bad about it.

and its his dad's love child's kid. that's got to be awkward.

Stephanie said...

Looks like Kate is sitting pretty; nice home, nanny. Morgan is trying to decide who is paying Kate to keep her quiet. She's thinking Ben.
I don't think Charlotte and Dan are an item. She kind gave him the cold shoulder when Sayid brought her back from Eggtown. She just seemed to be helping him with his short term memory.

Malcolm in RVA said...

ooh. thats what she's from. i knew i recognized her from something i was forced to watch by siblings as a kid.

i just started reading do androids dream of electric sheep by dick. its pretty good. ill probably delve into the less mainstream stuff he did. his writing is very lost style. the way he puts all this foreshadowing out there, and any average reader is completely oblivious to it. theres so many little details.

Malcolm in RVA said...

AN ITEM! thats what ill use. probably better than just saying "fucking"

but look at the way dan has his hand over her shoulder at the end of the economist. it might have just been some awkward friendly thing, but i think they are an item aka fucking.

Trevor McFur said...

Ally, I forgot the Claire/Jack brother/sister thing. That could be why he felt awkward, if he found out about Claire and something happens to her. How about Mr. Smooth though ... "You want to get some coffee?" "Hey, yeah, remember that kid of mine?" "Oh, hmmm, hey, well, yeah, see you later..."

And we need to clarify. If you figure out a twist as you're watching an episode, and keep it to yerself, you can't come along and claim credit for it later. I figured out it was Aaron too(*), but I'm not taking credit for it.

* at 9:59.

Trevor McFur said...

Is Aaron one of the Oceanic 6?

And they're all rich, remember Sayid said that he was living off the settlement from Oceanic.

[ally] said...

lol, SB. it's probably more "politically correct" to say an item.

i think something must have happened to claire, otherwise kate, i mean ms. austen wouldn't have been so eager to get back home.

Malcolm in RVA said...

lol. i didnt say that, did I?

it just hit me. i just realized what really sucks about these flash forwards. all these episodes finish with a flash forward mini rattle snake. what sucks is that there will probably be a minimum of 5 episodes in between the cliffhanger, and the resolution. it hast to at least cycle through the other 5 oceanic 6, assuming that there are no other flashbacks. so that means a long time till we find out about hurley and charley, or sayid and ben, or kate and aaron. its a super cliffhanger. its suspenseful, but its way too long to wait.

Scot said...

I do not like Kate. Her episodes usually bore me. Tonight was better, but she is still stupid. I guess she got out of trouble for killing her daddy, and she somehow ended up with Aaron. Guess that's the "him" she had to get back to in "Through the Looking Glass." Why doesn't Jack wanna see him? What happened to Claire? The "six" turned into "eight" tonight with Jack's reveal on the stand at Kate's trail that there were eight survivors of the crash. We know that four of the "six" are Jack, Kate, Hugo, and Sayid. Who are the other two of the "six," but more importantly, which other uh... other two did they decide to acknowledge survived the crash? And why only eight? Oh by the way, what can Ben do? Who is he, and what is he capable of? Miles thinks he can get a whole lot of money out of Ben if he lies to who he's working for. $3.2 million for telling them Ben's dead. Why exactly $3.2 million? Sounds kinda specific. What's Miles' agenda? Who is he workking for? I'm still going with Penny's old man since there was nothing in this episode to refute that. Two outta three ain't bad. Is Faraday a twitchier Gob (magician if you don't get the reference), or is he honing his psychic abilities? Another words, what the fucks up with the card trick? And what happened to the the frickin helicopter? I'm sleepy now, I must get sleep.

[ally] said...

well i'm taking any credit, i'm just sayin' that i saw it coming (twss).

speaking of aaron, man did he get big! not like age-wise but like he's one chubby bay-bee.

DenAss said...

Anyone that says they saw the whole twist at the end coming is a fucking liar.

That HAS to go down as one of the biggest WTF moments on Lost so far.

I'm still trying to get through how that could have gone down...

Did Claire die, and on her death bed make Kate promise to take care of her bay-bee?

Was there some situation where there wasn't enough room on the helicopter for Claire and Kate both so Kate "got rid of" Claire and kept Aaron?

Maybe Kate found out about Jack being Aaron's uncle, and figured this would be the best way to keep Jack in her life back on the main-land?

None of these make much sense, I know. I'd love to hear some of what the rest of you think about Kate assuming the role of Aaron's mama.

~DA

Anonymous said...

Ok. So I'm convinced that Claire is going to be knocked of eventually, and that Kate takes baby Aaron with her off the island.

Thoughts?

Malcolm in RVA said...

i could take the time to answer all b linus' questions, but i dont know the answer to any of them.

it is odd that miles asked for a specifically odd amount. maybe he needs 3.2 million to pay for the operation his mom needs, or somethin corny like that.

Trevor McFur said...

I thought that Kate was out of line slugging Sawyer, I can understand why he was a little confused by her.

For the record, though, she looked pretty damn good tonight.

DenAss said...

and of course I meant "fucking liar" in the most un-offensive way possible ;-)

what I was trying to say is that I don't see how anyone could have seen that one coming.

no offense intended, ally.

Trevor McFur said...

"man did he get big! he's one chubby bay-bee!"

TWSS

and that's twice in one day Ally. :)

DenAss said...

and the set up

Malcolm in RVA said...

i dont trust kate at all. im sure she stole aaron.

Trevor McFur said...

Damn!

I was so eager to nail Ally that I missed the kablamo!

Now THAT'S a setup...

KWhit51 said...

Why the fuck was this episode called eggtown. I don't get it.

DenAss said...

damn, I totally missed that set-up.

they're coming too fast to know when to put it out there

I know, I know. I just had to say it

Malcolm in RVA said...

does anyone have theories about minkowski, and why hes not answering the phone?

[ally] said...

"no offense intended, ally."

SOME TAKEN!!!

lmao, j/k.

kate did look good tonight, on the island, it was about damned time she got another shower! LOL. and off the island, do her eyes always look shinier when she has make up on?

Malcolm in RVA said...

lol. im not really that mad. i just like yelling.

[ally] said...

that's a set up, indeed.

and you've gotten me good today.

[ally] said...

poor katherine ann austin, she's getting ripped to smitherines tonight.

Malcolm in RVA said...

so, i think the other 6 are just sun and jin. kinda boring, but it makes sense. sun needs to get off soshe desnt die, and jin can jsut stay without her. but, it would be very sweet if he sacrificed himself for her. in that case, my next choice would be...hmmm...honestly, i cant think of anyone else. i think claire is officially out of the equation because of aaron. the only other choices are locke and sawyer, and neither of them seem like they want to leave.

oh, and by the way, what did kate use as an excuse for aaron? did she say that it was her kid? how did she say she got it?

Malcolm in RVA said...

the central people just finished watching it. are you guys as confused as we are?

DenAss said...

non, all Kate said was that she's a mom now and that she's not going anywhere. obviously, even her mom doesn't know the truth.

that just spurred another thought : That's why Kate was so opposed to her mom seeing Aaron. Her mom might get suspicious because Aaron would have no family resemblance to Kate. Then she might have wanted to testify against Kate if she thought Kate's whole island story was a lie, and that her daughter stole someone's baby.

hmm...

[ally] said...

"sun needs to get off"

that's what she said.

i'm one of those "central people" and i watched it at the same time you did, dude.

DenAss said...

the first word in that last pst should have been "bob"

notice how close to the "b" on the keyboard that the "n" is. whoops.

DenAss said...

did you ever notice how when the tv announcer is quoting show times for upcoming episodes, he'll say something like "8:00 eastern, 7:00 central"?

Malcolm in RVA said...

aah. thats not really my name. im just a kevin smith fan.

Malcolm in RVA said...

but he never says pacific. weird.

Malcolm in RVA said...

are there no myokom with sas'ers out there in the heartland of America?

PalmerEldritch said...

Doctor Leah Brahms prosecuted Kate and anyone who gets the reference is a dork like I am.

so, 8 survivors of the crash according to the Oceanic 6. and 6 made it off the Island? so, mebbe Claire is supposed to have survived the crash and then died after (during?) Aaron's birth but before the rescue 100 days later? so, we're down to 7. who else might be listed as an official crash survivor who did not survive long enough to be rescued?

and interesting that Jack's testimony is basically the original idea for Kate when they were writing the pilot.

and, yeah, kate did clean up nice. but she's kind of a bitch to sawyer, eh? i wonder if any blogspotters feel strongly about their hate for Kate? :p

LOCKE WENT APESHIT AND PUT A FRIGGIN GRENADE IN PUFFERFISHFACEMAN'S PUFFERFISHFACE!!!!

bad.ass!

[ally] said...

that whole putting the granade in that one dude's mouth was almost as unbelievable as jack pulling the trigger on locke.

they're really going for some WTF moments this season.

Trevor McFur said...

Link worked fine for me.

Why did Jack want to meet Kate all secret-like at the end of last season? Seems like they're talking to each other and everything in public this year.

Trevor McFur said...

Why did Kate want to go back to the Jack Pack? I mean, she found out that she was wanted and everything back in the real world ... why on earth would she want to go back?

Trevor McFur said...

Does anyone think that the conversation between Miles and Ben might have been some sort of code? I thought at first that Miles was just a doofus, but now I'm wondering if maybe I'm the doofus and there was something more to that conversation.

PalmerEldritch said...

cuz she got banished. and she fooled around with sawyer and wanted to go lead jack on a bit.

DenAss said...

b/c kate is a Jater. that's why.

[ally] said...

did she ever say that she wanted to go back? technically she decided to "go back" after locke kicked her out, right?

the only reason she stayed the night was for sawyer. or at least that's what i gathered from it.

[ally] said...

miles asked for 3.2 million.

3+2 = 5

there goes that 5 again.

Anonymous said...

That was a good episode, but Kate episodes generally leave me pissed off at the end.

I seem to remember the psychic freaking out and telling Claire to not let her child be raised by another.

Wasn't it called eggtown because of Locke smashing the plate of eggs at the beginning and then killing chickens later?

Mattastic said...

I'm wondering if Kate can't get pregnant because of a physical/medical condition she had prior to the crash. It might explain why she seemed all weird when talking about pregnancy with Sawyer. Didn't she say I know I'm not pregnant, and then was upset when Sawyer said it would be the worst thing in the world if they were. If I was a woman who couldn't get pregnant I don't think I'd want to hear that. I'm sure we'll see a very emotional scene in a future episode where Claire dies and her last words are to Kate to save and raise Aaron. And, it be very akward to be future Jack, wanting to get down with a girl who is raising his nephew under false pretenses. I don't blame him for not wanting to play house with Kate.
Anyway, another great ending...

Jon said...

I've had this theory for a year now, but I think it's finally been proven: I assume that the off-Island time is the tv-viewer's time. And it doesn't have to be a linear. So, the reason I think it was confirmed is that I assume Kate gets off the island soon (by island time standards)...but her mom says something about thinking she was dead "for four years." That would put the flashforward at 2008.

Does this make sense? I am still unsure of how to explain Aaron's apparent growth...

Jon said...

Also, maybe Kate knows she's not pregnant because she had her period. That was my assumption

memphish said...

Well that episode left me flat. That's why I didn't come hang out last night. The legal stuff was ridiculous, and I'll just leave it at that. The number of ways it was wrong -- too numerous to start listing.

Kate's behavior on Island I guess was meant to demonstrate that she's actually "every man for himself." It was weird though. Sawyer should be glad he's rid of her. She didn't sleep with him that night/day because she wasn't pregnant and wanted to stay that way. The slap was somewhat called for even though what Sawyer said was true.

Oh, and you can go back to at least 1 if not 2 threads ago and find that I theorized that Aaron was Kate's "Him." It's where we discussed if someone might die last night. I actually posted it on another board at least a week ago as well. Yes, I'm tooting my own horn.

I also didn't like all the callbacks in the episode with Locke, Ben, throwing the plates, Hurley can't keep a secret, he banished you, Miles with his arms over his head, etc. There were just too darn many of them. Locke has gone insane. If he wasn't crazy before, he is now. And where did the grenade come from? Sayid swept the place in Left Behind. I guess from Ben's basement which no one knew about, but now everyone knows about.

The most interesting parts of the episode were where's the helicopter, why is Minkowski not answering the phone, why 3.2 million and what is up with Dan. Did he come to the Island in part to be healed of something?

But we did get some more good questions like on what planet is Aaron Kate's son? She would have no standing to adopt a dead Claire's son if that's part of their cover story. Why say 8 survived and 2 died? Just the numbers I guess. This post is already to long so I'll save others for later.

PalmerEldritch said...

"Yes, I'm tooting my own horn."

that's what he said.

holli, i did kind of wonder why the defense was calling witnesses before the prosecution had.

I saw it coming early on that Kate's kid was Aaron. When Kate and Claire were talking and Kate wouldn't touch Aaron and then Claire told her that she should try being a mum some day. That was foreshadowing if I've ever seen it.

I wasn't certain though, but it was between her kid being Jack's or it being Aaron. I'm surprised that this was such a shock for people.

I wish Lost would give us a big shock once in a while, instead of revealing slowly at the end. I would like to be stunned, instead of figuring out what is going to happen right before it happens.

I really want to know the story behind Kate having Aaron in terms of what they've told the media. Is it the case that it's going to be another 6-8 months Island time before they are rescued and they're going to claim Kate got pregnant on Island (by Jack maybe or one of the 2 on Island who died)? Are they going to say she got pregnant in Australia and had the baby on the Island? The baby's going to be too big for either of those stories to quite work unless of course there's a time problem between on and off Island to account for it.

And does Jack not know that Aaron is his biological nephew? Why wouldn't Jack raise him? Generally speaking I'd trust my child to a doctor over a murderer.

And why does the prosecutor ask about Jack loving Kate? Is that part of the cover story? Does it take 2 years to bring this case to trial and they've dated and broken up?

More and more and more questions. I'm ready for Episode 9 where we supposedly will start to turn the corner towards answers.

I figured it was called eggtown because of ovaries...you know, giving birth and all that?

A bit faar-fetched? Perhaps.

Been thinking about Jack's story of the 8-2. Let's assume that the cover story of the Oceanic 6 somehow has to jibe with the cover story of the plane crashing and everyone dying (like, maybe the plane did crash, except the 8 survived and washed up on the island, or a piece of the plane with the 8 actually broke off and landed on the island ... whatever). Why would they make up that 8 made it, then 2 died, if there wasn't some sort of physical evidence of the 2 dead bodies? Are they Lostaways who are going to die at some point ... or made to look like they've died? Claire and somebody, maybe? Or who knows, maybe it's Eko & Boone (both died of injuries that could be consistent with a plane crash). I think it's significant, it doesn't make any sense to complicate the cover story any more than necessary.

From Lostpedia..

Egg-town is a pejorative term that refers to the days of bartering, during the Great Depression. A traveling salesman would have to barter his candy or tobacco or shoelaces for different commodities. A poor exchange would be for eggs, a relatively common item that is also highly perishable. Nobody wants to trade for eggs from a traveling salesman because they have their own, so the salesman who accepted an egg in exchange was forced to accept a bad deal. Salesmen would use the term like "If I were you I would stay away from Bogart. That's an egg-town." Of course, the lack of trust among salesman was also high, and it was likely that one salesman would lie to another about the quality of a town's customers to keep them for himself. Invariably, the second salesman ventures into Bogart only to find it is truly an egg-town. He is either persuaded to not visit a town that has good customers or is tricked into visiting a town that can only offer eggs. The term "egg-town" represents a deal with undesirable outcomes in either case. [source needed]

References in this episode include:

The inability of Locke to makes any progress with the interrogation of Ben or Miles.
The deal Kate made. She is now forbidden to leave the state and thus can't legally go back to the island for any reason for at least ten years.

The episode starts with literal eggs: Locke preparing an omelet breakfast for Ben. He tells Ben these are the last two eggs.
Kate's preoccupation with the chance that she might be pregnant, and the continuing references to her child in the episode's flashforwards.
Locke's inability to establish any communication with Jacob.
Locke kills a chicken (no more eggs).

I have nothing really intelligent to say after all fo these posts lol.

Except for.....does...Locke is freaking me out. He puts the grenade in Mile's mouth and says "Enjoy your breakfast" octh. a

Now, Jack tells the court 8 people survived the crash. I think this proves that Claire is found dead. They need a reason to say why Aaron is in Kate's care right? I don't know, just a thought. One thing that worries me is that if Kate raises Aaron, he'd be "Raised by Another" but at least he wouldn't' be "raised by an other", wait wait wait, if Sayid and Kate are still on the same side, and Sayid is working for Ben, they are like Others.

Or maybe Claire just doesn't get off the island.

And hers another question....who was the 8th person?

Thanks for the eggtown info Trevor. I hadn't seen that before. Too scared to google eggtown because of spoilers.

Steph, what's that Guy Pearce movie where the dude has no short term memory because of a head injury? Is that what's up with Daniel?

i'd think that Kate would have to pretend that Aaron was her kid cuz AccusedMurderer doesn't make a very good potential adoptive parent. unless Claire wrote up some sort of document legally binding in Australia and the United States without the aid of her attorney.

Memento.

Maybe Claire found an internet connection and used one of those do it yourself will sites to give Aaron to Kate. But it seems the world at least thinks he's biologically Kate's. Her mom thinks that.

Why won't Kate let her mom see Aaron? It was Kate who wanted to reconcile with her in the past, but not now. Kate's double standards drive me nuts. It can't just be the blonde thing because the kid's got to go to school, etc. People will realize he doesn't really look like Kate.

And whatever happened to the person sending Kate money and letters? I want to know who that is.

with all the other coverups on/about the island, it wouldn't surprise me that there's something behind kate saying that aaron is her biological son. but it must be terrible if jack is this upset about seeing aaron.

[ally] said...

this may be way out there, but could they have tested aaron's dna with everyone who got rescued to see if he was related to anyone and it turned out to be related to jack?

cause i'm thinking there's no way of jack and claire finding out they're related, because neither one of them knew.

Trevor McFur said...

Unless Jack and Claire both happen to bump into Christian together and say, "Dad?"

What letters do you mean Holli?

small rant.
(I have never been a Claire..
I.E hater or Likerbut i do think she gets ragged on so much in podcasts that I go in to the episode with negativity towards Claire that I may not have if every one would not DWELL upon her every move! )

Now I think she's still on island and gave kate aaron cause they were roomies and all!!!
Sorry want to go to sleep ill read all your great posts tomm.

Xanadu and Scooby-Doo. Definitely the best parts.

Ally, someone wrote Kate a letter with money enclosed in "Born To Run." That's the episode where her mom freaks out and her boyfriend is killed (for which she should be convicted irregardless of her mother's testimony, rant, rant, rant). The handwriting looks like a woman's. I speculate that it's Cassidy's.

Why is Jack so freaky about Aaron? That makes no sense to me unless Jack himself killed Claire like kicking her out of the helicopter to save weight. Dumb ass has to know that if Kate's got a kid you have to date the girl and kid. He should really listen to The Married Man podcast which should have something beyond an explicit tag this week.

I think this flash took place before Hurley's. I'm not sure how it fits in with Sayid's.

I have an idea about why Aaron but not Claire is off the Island. What if Ben promises Claire that Jacob can heal HER mum back in Australia if she gives Kate Aaron! I don't know why Ben would want Kate and Aaron off Island and Claire on except perhaps for the fact that they think Claire might be able to have more on Island babies. With Sawyer or Desmond maybe? Claire might make such a sacrifice because of her guilt over her mum.

i still think that Jack can't save Claire (from something) and he feels awfully guilty about it. he's the kind of guy who'd avoid aaron in that situation.

Slower than I usually am in being able to comment.

I liked it - Ben in Henry Gale mode is always worth a look. Ah the Jack not wanting to see the baby seemed to me like an attempt to get the audience to believe that Jack was the father from some future tryst as yet unseen - it certainly got me.
