That baby was way too big to be Kate's. The entire episode I was sorta wondering how old the baby was going to be. Because you know that Kate's trial wouldn't be too long after her return to civilization. It's funny cuz I had a weird feeling when I first saw the baby. Like it was way too old to be hers. It would've meant that this trials was years after she returned. But never did I think of Aaron until she said his name.
Looking back at the episode, they really did a good job of setting it up as well as throwing us off. The Claire/Kate scenes at the time seemed pretty pointless, but now hold so much meaning. And the Kate/Sawyer stuff really threw us off. Going into that scene knowing that Kate had a baby, who honestly really thought she was being honest with Sawyer when she said she was not pregnant? Good writing Lost people.
yeah, that kid better be Jinn's. otherwise he should roundhouse kick someone.
ok, so, i promised an Iron Man trailer during LOST a few threads back. well, Marvel.com to the rescue! it's next week.
weird Tom Baker video. all about Tom Baker, Doctor Who, and dancing by oneself in a playground. he has some choice words for Christianity (pretty randomly) so maybe skip this video if that'll upset you. or click this link if that'll amuse you!
Ok, I believe in Jack's testimony he said that 8 survived the plane crash and Kate tried to save the other 2 (I've only seen the episode once). My guess is the cover story is that the mother died during childbirth soon after the crash, and Kate looked after him the rest of the time on the island. Which would add to her character during the trial. Claire could be dead or maybe she let Kate take Aaron to the boat thinking she'd be right behind them. Either way, that could be why Jack feels too guity to see him. The only hole in the theory is - why is Kate raising Aaron and not Claires aunt?
Aimee should consider using this picture for her book club.
And I just want to say gentlemen, if you use the "I'll keep you safe" line you will almost certainly score. Kate is either OTR or psycho or both to reject that one.
the US and Australian governments frown on kidnapping children (unless they're doing it themselves) so i'd be interested in how Kate could have a legal claim to Aaron unless they said that she was pregnant in Australia and that Aaron was her biological child.
I agree Palmer. And I think they'll claim that the dad is either an Australian one night stand or one of the people who died on the Island. I don't think they'll claim it's Jack. I still don't understand the prosecutor's question to Jack about loving Kate and his not anymore answer.
Aaron is now Kate's Did a dingo eat his mum Or a smoke monster
Holli, I feel the same about medical stuff as you do about legal stuff on tv. I'm sure House is a good show and I'm sure I'd like it but I get enough medical stuff at work. And they usually never get it right.
I like the thought that the story is that Aaron is Jack & Kate's love child. Kate conveniently stopped Jack's testimony before they would have gotten to that part of it.
well, i'd imagine that the timeline works out to Kate being "pregnant" in Australia when she was working on that farm with the weird farmer dude. so, i defy the theory that aaron is supposed to be jack's love child.
although, those Shepherd's sure do seem to have a lot of love children...
Man - that sucked for about an hour. Anyone else ever get a message when trying to get on the blogspot saying that your no allowed to get on here becuase your computer looks like a spamming attempt. That was weird. and now it's gone.
Pretty good episode - whambanger of an ending for sure. What I'm wondering now is - what does "the Oceanic 6 mean". Does it necessarily mean that 2 people who got off the island died?
A thought I had about Daniel was that some kind of memory loss (short-term or otherwise) might explain his odd comment at the beginning of "Confirmed Dead" when he said he didn't know why he was crying. Perhaps he has a connection to the 815ers or the plane (or maybe just a plane crash in general - but that seems out of character for this show) and seeing the footage on TV triggered an emotional response even though he doesn't remember any connection to it mentally.
Could be a very interesting story arc for him I think.
I was more or less joking about Vantage Point. Although I know some of the Jaters out there might see it just for a glimpse of Foxy. I am however interested in seeing Be Kind, Rewind. I've heard mixed things so far. But I like Gondry and it looks like a funny premise.
be kind rewind looks like good ol' stupidly awesome fun. i want to see it. vantage point looks ok. ill probably stick it at the bottom of my q though.
i dont think claire is dead. i dont know why. mostly because then there wouldnt really be many main characters in lockes camp.
and i know that with that deleted scene in ekos flashback with the psychic it seemed like that raised by another shit was bullshit, id like to believe that kates bay-bee theft will result in another raising catastrophe!!
I'm going to see Vantage Point in about a week 1/2 from now with a friend who has a major Foxy crush, though not strong enough to postpone her trip to Cabo which is why we're delayed in going. It's a movie that for all it's premise and star power ought to work, but which I have a feeling probably doesn't.
Let us know about Be Kind, Rewind Jordan. I want that to be good too. I want to see Persepolis. It just opened here this week. Anyone seen it?
I just rewatched the episode and had my theory blown out of the water. Kate's mom refers to Aaron as "her grandson" and wants to see him. I get the hint that she thinks it her biological grandson rather than an adoptive one.
As for the Oceanic 6 + 2. From Jacks testimony, it seems like 8 survived the crash initially and 2 died at some point before getting rescued.
- Do you think they were trying to fake us out that the episode was starting with a flashforward for Locke off the island? I got that sense, but i also caught the pretty unsubtle shot of a Dharma-brand food-stuff in the fridge, so i wasn't fooled.
- Was Kate living/being tried in LA? Because she has to go meet Jack at the LA airport but she can't break the terms of her plea bargain. I'm not a lawyer, but wouldn't she have to be tried in Iowa where she committed her crime?
- thanks to pop-up version of Confirmed Dead, we know that the woman in Daniel's flashback was his caregiver. Did they tell us this so we wouldn't think he was married and that he was free to be romantic with Charlotte? or did he have a caregiver because of some malady that might explain his apparent memory problems.
- I don't think Barracks normally have basements (like the Alamo). Maybe Dharma built them as bomb/hostile/smokey shelters.
Some theories: * Claire is killed between now and the oceanic 6 (don't think she is one of the "8 survivors") * Kate is barren (sorry, awful term) and that's why she knows she's not pregnant. Maybe she hates her blood (ala Wayne) so much she had a tubal ligation (her tubes tied) to prevent more bad Austens. * Claire will have a dying breath wish for Kate to look after Aaron. * Jack & Claire will find out that they're siblings, either by running into Phantom Christian Shepherd or from the freighters who have, from Miles' admission, done some checking up on the Oceanic 815ers. * Jack will feel responsible for Claire's death because he has a million-to-one chance of saving her and he fails. This and the fact that they were related is too much guilt for him to bear & visit Aaron.
- Because of Jack's testimony of the Oceanic 6 cover story, i'm guessing that our off-island Losties will be rescued at sea with 6 of them + 2 dead bodies. If they play it right we'll be looking at 8 people knowing that 2 have to die and the tension will be off the charts.
- my opinion on the order of the flashforwards: 01. Kate - it didn't seem like she'd spent any time in prison prior to the arraignment, but they usually don't let accused murders, especially ones that escaped custody, roam free. 02. Hurley - he felt the need to remind the cops that he was one of the Oceanic 6, like his celebrity may have passed a bit. Jack's alcohol consumption and his plans to grow a beard were just getting started 03. Sayid - Mr. Golf didn't recognize him so his celebrity must have cooled off. Also, It feels like Sayid was on a worldwide hunt for the marks on Ben's list. 04. Jack - ZZ-Top beard. Lots of weekend flights trying to crash back on the island. full-blown drug/alcohol addiction.
the podcast is coming along swimmingly! i am taking a bit of a break right now, then i am going to convert all the calls and post them along with the Karaoke!
It should be up within an hour and a half from this posting!!!

Darlton surely wouldn't make Kate pregnant with Sawyer's child and have her name her child after an abandoned on the Island Aaron would they?

I really, really hope that Sun's comment about "her" baby does not mean that the baby is Michael's.

FUCK YEAH!!! ol' Star Trek (The Original Series) and MACGYVER episodes streaming free on CBSs website. uh... for web surfers in the US, anyhow.
p.s. my laptop battery has 68 minutes left. yes, that's right. 1:08
eek!
I'm assuming that the Man on the boat is Minkowski (sp) although it'd be neat wordplay if they made it Zoe Bell.
and I agree with what Your Friend Jordan said

Is Aaron part of the Oceanic 6?

Holli, I second her being OTR. she said she was SURE she wasn't pregnant.

Palmer - sweet Tom Baker link. f-ing odd video. But, to be honest, he seems an odd man really - I LIKE him - but a bit odd.
Did you see this?
I will post it over at the BBS as well so we don't muddy the blogwaters here.
Daniel's emotional response to the wreck footage could be caused by a brain injury.
Maybe.
Anybody going to go see Vantage Point this weekend?
STOP! Rewind that!

I just realized that Daniel's emotional reaction to the crash would strongly argue against my theory that he might be autistic.
But my Walt is dead theory is still in play.
