So I guess where supposed to beleive that Jacob kept Kates mom alive? That caught me off guard more then the Aaron thing? And I was never all that sure with Bens promise to Juliet that Jacob would heal/save her. Now there is a second occurance of this so I guess His Healing poweres stretch very far? Or ?

Although I'm a usually a big fan of the Rashomon effect, Vantage Point looks a little gimmicky. I plan to see it eventually because Dennis Quaid is hunky.
I'd like to see Definitely, Maybe but I think Morgan and I will see Be Kind, Rewind today. My kid has good taste. In a few weeks will see The Other Boleyn Girl. Bad title, good cast.
Tina Fey hosts SNL tonight!

i have a funny story that is completely unrelated to lost!

so for christmas, i was gifted a fryer. you know, those things at mcdonalds where they fry potatoes up and serve them to you? yeah. again, the person who gifted it to me was probably saying something mean to me. so i bought these chimmichangas, or however the fuck you spell them, so i put it in the fryer, turn it on, and go away for 7 minutes for it to finish. i get lost in the dharmalars, and come back about ten minutes later. i hurry to take it out, and everything seems fine. just a little bit overcooked. then, when i put it on a plate, and i am not kidding in the least, beans from inside it started violently spewing from the inside of it to the plate. it was fucking scary.

Trevor McFur said...

Andrew, you definiely need to copy and paste that posting from the last thread.

In reply...

I don't think that Kate had a tubal, because she was concerned last season when she found out about the problems with pregnant women on the island. And if she was barren, wouldn't the island fix that too? I still bet that the cover story has Kate being Aaron's biologic mother; otherwise, she'd have no claim to him, especially as a big-time fugitive.

memphish said...

Great podcast guys. I love listening to Dre with ONJ in the background. The "Leave Ryan Alone" guy needs his own show. Sounds like next week he needs to do a "Leave Dre Alone" bit.

The Other Boleyn Girl was a great book. The casting of the movie is against type; I'd have picked Scarlett for the conniving Anne and Natalie for the innocent sister. I'm interested to see how that works.

I think Kate may have fertility issues that the Island hasn't healed; it didn't choose to heal her? Maybe the x-rays Alpert showed Juliet were Kate's. (No I don't believe that.) But I don't think she's had a tubal ligation; too young, though I don't disagree with Andrew's notion that Kate doesn't want to make any more bad people. It's just extreme when birth control is readily available and good. Maybe she got those rods implanted and forgot? But something's going on because how on Super Jizz Island do you not get pregnant when Sawyer can knock up Iowa girls in the real world?

- looking forward to some math-free Dharmalars.

- Do you think they were trying to fake us out that the episode was starting with a flashforward for Locke off the island? I got that sense, but i also caught the pretty unsubtle shot of a Dharma-brand food-stuff in the fridge, so i wasn't fooled.

- Was Kate living/being tried in LA? Because she has to go meet Jack at the LA airport but she can't break the terms of her plea bargain. I'm not a lawyer, but wouldn't she have to be tried in Iowa where she committed her crime?

- thanks to pop-up version of Confirmed Dead, we know that the woman in Daniel's flashback was his caregiver. Did they tell us this so we wouldn't think he was married and that he was free to be romantic with Charlotte? or did he have a caregiver because of some malady that might explain his apparent memory problems.

- I don't think Barracks normally have basements (like the Alamo). Maybe Dharma built them as bomb/hostile/smokey shelters.

Some theories:
* Claire is killed between now and the oceanic 6 (don't think she is one of the "8 survivors")
* Kate is barren (sorry, awful term) and that's why she knows she's not pregnant. Maybe she hates her blood (ala Wayne) so much she had a tubal ligation (her tubes tied) to prevent more bad Austens.
* Claire will have a dying breath wish for Kate to look after Aaron.
* Jack & Claire will find out that they're siblings, either by running into Phantom Christian Shepherd or from the freighters who have, from Miles' admission, done some checking up on the Oceanic 815ers.
* Jack will feel responsible for Claire's death because he has a million-to-one chance of saving her and he fails. This and the fact that they were related is too much guilt for him to bear & visit Aaron.

- Because of Jack's testimony of the Oceanic 6 cover story, i'm guessing that our off-island Losties will be rescued at sea with 6 of them + 2 dead bodies. If they play it right we'll be looking at 8 people knowing that 2 have to die and the tension will be off the charts.

- my opinion on the order of the flashforwards:
01. Kate - it didn't seem like she'd spent any time in prison prior to the arraignment, but they usually don't let accused murders, especially ones that escaped custody, roam free.
02. Hurley - he felt the need to remind the cops that he was one of the Oceanic 6, like his celebrity may have passed a bit. Jack's alcohol consumption and his plans to grow a beard were just getting started
03. Sayid - Mr. Golf didn't recognize him so his celebrity must have cooled off. Also, It feels like Sayid was on a worldwide hunt for the marks on Ben's list.
04. Jack - ZZ-Top beard. Lots of weekend flights trying to crash back on the island. full-blown drug/alcohol addiction.

- The bloody rock god, Dominic Monaghan is going to be in the upcoming Wolverine (X-Men) movie.
Aint It Cool News Story [Clicky]

- Reminder: the LOST video game comes out Tuesday

- i no longer think Kate had her tubes tied because i remembered she took a pregnancy test on taco night.

But something's going on because how on Super Jizz Island do you not get pregnant when Sawyer can knock up Iowa girls in the real world?

Yeah.
Change of plans. No movies for us today. Instead rollerskating in the town of Sawyer's birth.

Trevor McFur said...

I don't think that there's gonna be an explanation as to why Kate's not pregnant. My assumption from the other night was that she knew she's not because she had her period.

Chris JC said...

If Kate gets rescued with a kid that she and seven other survivors claim is hers and was born after the crash and before the rescue (I originally typed "on the island") - then more than likely there would be no reason to disbelieve her. Since she was on the run in Australia the lack of any records of visits to doctors would be easily explained as well. Something that wouldn't be possible with any other female character. I think we can assume that Kate is, therefore, either the only woman to make it off the island, or the only one who could convincingly pose as the mother of Aaron.

Fully agree with Kate finding out the old-fashioned way that she wasn't pregnant. And in fact - while we're at it, that will be how she dodged the bullet as well. UltraSperm or not, if you're at the wrong point in your cycle you are likely to remain un-duffed.

I promise not to post from my non-iPhone (bitches) again - that line return shit is weird.

I still haven't heard Dharmalars yet, so don't know who the karaoke is. The suspense is killing me, but I promise not to zip ahead.

I'm guessing this episode is designed to inspire fan debate to the effect that Aaron could be one of the Oceanic 6 and there's only one left to reveal, but again - cover story: 8 survivors, 2 die equals (to my mind) six adults. We still don't know whether the story was that they were just floating for months, or whether they did end up living on some kind of landmass (although any specific island talk is obviously a no-no), but the implication, to me at least, is that the world at large believes Aaron to be Kate's child and that he was born after the crash, and therefor not considered one of the original six survivors.

So - six adults are the main attraction of the Oceanic 6 and Aaron is kind of special feature. Maybe an audio commentary.

Also - despite being a leader of people, Locke has been a bit yawn the past few weeks so good to see him doing something worth watching again, even if it's in the Scary Bastard direction of things.

My guess is the embargo on reviews will end tomorrow at the earliest. Just keep an eye on metacritic or some of the other sites to catch reviews. Just don't expect anything from EGM, Ubisoft is not giving them review copies anymore.

As for me, I think I might just rent it unless it gets good scores. They are selling it at full price which is more than I care to spend on a game that I might play through once or twice.

Palmer, I have a 360 and a DS and there aren't too many games that I'd be renting to really justify paying for gamefly. Once I get a PS3 I might give gamefly a try. Otherwise I usually go to my local blockbuster for games (maybe once every 3 months).

Breakdown of online videogame rentals

To go back to andrews post and why Kate was tried in LA not Iowa. I'm guessing the case was federal so she was tried in federal court because the marshall was chasing her. My question is why was the marshall after her? Was it because she ran and crossed state lines? Does that make the original crime a Federal one?

Ralph- said...

i can get a press pass for comic con. if i do, i will be doing a lot of NON Lost interviewing!

PalmerEldritch said...

mike, i'm pretty sure Vantage Point will be in my Netflix queue. nice to hear that it's actually entertaning.

as for the video game, yeah, it's going to take a lot of willpower not to impulse buy it the first time i see it in a store. hopefully, it's worth the money i'll most likely be spending on it.

memphish said...

Brennan, a federal courtroom wouldn't have a state seal of California prominently displayed over the judge's bench; it would have a federal seal. Basically they screwed the pooch with every legal detail of the episode that existed right down to the strawberry red jail jumpsuit with the shorter flared sleeve. In a way it was like they were telling us "We aren't Law and Order. We're getting Kate off the hook. Move on."

according to Jonathan, all you need to do is prove to the Comic Con folks that you have a show that is a viable and reliable source of information. Jonathan's show does not get our type of numbers, but he got a press pass last year.

he told me that it was incredibly easy to get a press pass and he interviewed a TON of people.

so, it may be worth a shot, epecially if i could get access to some actual lost people.

- Hooray for the M*A*S*H* reference. I love M*A*S*H* and episode with Radar's bunny was good'un. Also good was the maze race with Radar's rat.

- i'm guessing the LOST video game is probably a mediocre game for most people, but just being able to wander all of the Lost sets should make it super cool for LOSTaholics. I'm tempted to scoop it up for the PC, and then camp out in the Pearl station lavatory so i can jump out and scare Paulo.

- Brennan - good call on Kate's case (whatever that may be, ugh) going Federal, but i still don't think that changes the jurisdiction.

Couple questions i've had on my mind.
#1Think I posted this already but I'll post any hoo. Did Jacob have a hand in keeping Kates mom alive? If so why for the court stuff?
#2 Aaron's 85 days oldish, on island. Two or Three off. Do we think that there was more time spent on island or off. I think On.
#3 If Claire is dead does it happen with a bunch of time left on the island or write before they leave, ipick the latter. If there is any island time left after Claires demise then that leaves Kate holding the bag, or in this case the baby. So there would either be Kate running around the island with a gun, and a kid or she'd be parked in othersville useless.
#4 Miles it seems is the only one sent to find Ben the other three are off in there own little worlds. Miles tells Ben that he will tell them Ben's dead..Why would you send a ghost whisperer to the island if not to comune with the dead Ben if he could'nt find the live one? If you follow that last part a little confusing not sure how to word it? Basicly Mile either there to confirm Ben's dead by talking with his spirt Naomi style or see him alive Making him the only person who could give you concrete evidence???

Stephanie said...

Eggtown: Why do I not want to watch this episode a second time? I enjoyed it, but for some reason I can't bring myself to rewatch.

Trevor McFur said...

There were a ton of commercials last night. It really made the thing drag on too. There weren't any real sustained comedy bits, the only special Oscar was done in 5-10 minutes, and they obnoxiously cut off the speeches after a minute or so ... and still the thing lasted 3 1/2 hours; I wonder how long it would have been without.

memphish said...

Good post RRB. #1 I don't think Jacob kept Kate's mom alive. I think doctor's are crap at predicting how long you'll live with stuff. #2 I think it's going to be a while before they leave the Island; maybe as much as another year or so for Aaron to grow up. At a minimum I think they'll be held somewhere else until time and their stories start to add up. #3 I think Kate won't get Aaron until the last minute. #4 You're right Miles seems to be the only one interested in getting Ben, and it could well be that his employers did expect Ben to be dead.

I stuck some more polls up on my blog. Come by and vote; leave comments; tell your friends.

sayid's chest looks almost bigger than kate's. why does everyone look so angry?

how funny is kate with her little handcuffs? is there like a buy one get one free so you can get juliet handcuffed to her?

from the "holy crapazoid! that can't be real" files:

new girls' toys named: Struts.

they're the sassy Bratzes of the horse world. yes, you too can buy horse dolls dressed like provocative ladies of the night... with Struts!

lmao. What'll they think of next?

I can just think of the pitch:

"It's My Little Pony for the new generation. Little girls today are all about sass and ass. If you want it, you got to bring it."

I just wanted to let you know that I highlighted your show along with 3 others on Episode 12 of my show, PodcastJunky. Normally on my show I highlight just one episode of just one show but Lost is just to big for that. So I selected 4 shows that together form a good selection of prospectives and styles in LOST podcasting.

The premise of my show is that I share the best stuff I've found on my iPod and hopefully help my audience find new podcasts they will enjoy. I listen to a lot of podcasts so my reviews are on all different types of podcasts. This weeks show just happens to focus on LOST.

Thanks for doing such a terrific show.

"if you're feeling idle, fit these girls with a bit and bridle... struts!"

"mount your struts and get riding!"

in other news, let's hope ben and ralph didn't celebrate their birthdays at the movies tonight. :\
