Great job Kim!
That had to be tough doing that all by your self. You pulled it off. I missed Aimee as I'm sure you did too.

The phone call from Kyle was funny. Thuh *bleep* and thuh *bleep**bleep* doin thuh *bleep* to thuh *bleep*

I don't know what he was talking about but it was *bleeping* funny.

Again, good work Kim!

A Theory By Ralph,

So i think that Christian was on the island prior to his death. He is like Widmore and Eloise (elly). I have a feeling that instead of him leaving the island in the way that those other folks did, Christian left in disgrace. I feel that is why he became an alcoholic mess. This would also explain why his offspring has the power to perform medical miracles, in the same way the island does. I feel that Christian has been forced to come back to the island and is now a slave to Jacob (the island was not done with him yet). But now, Christian is breaking free from Jacob's grasp and is setting John Locke on a course to get his son back to free him of whatever Christian did to upset the island in the first place.

Andrew. I don't know who Louis CK is but I agree. We are so affluent, we take so much for granted. Come to the South. You'll appreciate how comfortable you are. It goes back to the banking industry. I remember growing up my dad would talk about this thing called collateral. What is this entity?

PalmerEldritch said...

ralph-, think he's got the same crappy tattoo as Juliet?

Ralph- said...

YES! i forgot about that Cadbury Egg tattoo! dude, that is precisely what i am thinking. I wish i was more eloquent with my words.

"Thought the S+S + map needed some more FACETIME"

Indeed. I'm gonna call out the regulars on here who have yet to rep the map. That means you Palmer, Holli, Ralph, Jimmy, Alirio, Aimee... Come on and join the love train.

Andrew, I like Louis CK. Even if he helped Chris Rock make Pootie Tang. He's dead on with his comments on Conan. I've always joked about how big the technological advances have been since our generation and slightly older was young. "When I was a kid, you had to get up and go to the TV to change the channel!"

Jordan said...

Andrew, Did you ever see CK's short-lived sitcom "Lucky Louie". I think it was on HBO. I haven't seen it. But I've heard it was pretty funny.

Chris JC said...

If I may:

TLI CALLER: Don't call him Faradork - dorks are hot.

Translation: I don't think Daniel Faraday is hot, but I DO think that dorks are hot - therefore I consider this name to be inaccurate as I do not find Daniel Faraday hot. QED.

Jordan said...

Clip from "Lucky Louie" about butt sex.

mb said...

That Louis CK bit is awesome. Dead on - all things that I keep thinking everytime I pass really impatient people in the airport (which probably isn't fair to some of them - there actually are SOME good reasons to be stressed in an airport).

Jordan said...

Think I've already posted this, but whatever.
Daniel Faraday has always been weird.

And clips from the movie that Aimee remembers him from.

ralph-, i only remembered that cadbury egg cuz of Andrew.'s "Widmore gets kicked off the Island by young Isabelle" theory.

ace of cakes marathon, cake-fans. unfortunately, i had to go back to work once my lunch was over. :(

andrew. said...

- i'd love to take credit for that theory, but i don't think it was mine. The less thinking about Isabelle the better.

- That Subaru commercial is really funny. Can anyone even figure out what model that generic "punk rock" car is?

- Re: Lucky Louie - i did watch all of that show. It was okay. It was one of those post-modern sitcoms that do everything a regular sitcom does but it's supposed to be funnier because they know how lame regular sitcoms are. The funniest bits were when he's a complete asshole to his kid, partly because she's the cutest little girl ever manufactured.

Back from Red Stick, LA. Returned to winter, less than 50 degrees. It was spring there. Daffodils and azaleas blooming.

Listened to Dharmalars. TLI up next when my iPod re-downloads all the things it and iTunes conspired to erase from said iPod. Gotta love "Restore."

I know I'm late to this conversation, but Ben and Ralph I love the podcast right now. You hit the highlights. You've got the humor and the cursing. And you've got giggling Ryan in case you miss anything. It's a perfect length. I'm so over LOST podcasts that go on and on forever. I watched the show, you don't have to tell me what I saw. Same for TLI. I only need to hear jokes and discussion of the interesting stuff like hair and costumes. Keep up the good work Blogspotters!

Thanks guys! The podcast can be a chore sometimes. I have a love/hate relationship with TLI :P Man, there have been times when I wish I didn't do a podcast, and just enjoy the show. However, we don't take ourselves too seriously--and we hope all those who listen to us don't either.

When the series has run it's course, I'm going to be happy to go back and listen to the old SaS eps, the Dharmalars and even some TLI episodes. It'll be worth it then.

PalmerEldritch said...

holli, are you complaining that it's less than 50 degrees?

we're overjoyed up north that it's above freezing. :)

PalmerEldritch said...

JoeSC said...

Hey guys,

Just wanted to drop a quick note and say Dharmalars and TLI were both great this week. Kim, I think the solo thing worked out just fine (although I would have liked to hear Aimee's take on the whole "Ben laying into Jack and Sun" scene and the sudden loss of Montand's arm). You were a total trouper!

Ralph, I know this podcast thing is starting to wear on you, but I think the shortened show this week worked out great. Don't burn yourself out. We love the Lars, but I think a sitcom-length show suits you well.

I think this is especially true since most of the long Season 3 and 4 podcasts had a lot of theorizing which drew them out. As we start to get more answers than questions, the theorizing will go away and the podcasts will start to get shorter as a result. Hang in there!

Jordan said...

Yeah, Kim is pretty good at the solo thing. You'd almost think she did it for a living.

JoeSC said...

Oh yeah, totally didn't put the dots together before...

So, Desmond and Ben have finally met and I assume they're going to be together for a couple of episodes... Does Desmond find out Ben's plan for Penny? If there's one wish I have for the next few episodes, it's to see this scene!

scrdmnkydst said...

Yeah, Kim is pretty good at the solo thing.

Good theory Ralph! That would explain alot of things about Christian.

If Christian was on the island or not someone has done something harmful to Jacob. If I'm not mistaken the only words Jacob has ever said on the show was "Help Me" and he was talking to Locke at the time.I think the whole "I speak on his behalf" is horse hockey.Somehow Christian is keeping Jacob out of the picture. Maybe with some of the ashes or whatever that stuff was on the ground surrounding Jacobs cabin.

It is my feeling that Christian is taking advantage of Locke, because he is gullible, to get whatever it is that he wants.

I think the heart of the 2 factions thing may be Christian(whatever he is) and Jacob, not necessarily Ben and Widmore. Although Ben and Widmore do have their own thing going on, Jacob and Christian have much bigger things at stake, whatever they are.

I just listened to The Official Lost Audio Podcast and if anyone knows Carlton Cuse please punch him in the face for me. Dude doesn't care about Rousseau's back story, the one they've been feeding us since before we knew there were Others, yet he does care about the triangle? I guess this explains why I didn't watch any other Carlton Cuse shows and will avoid future ones.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

in his defense, sometimes a crazy lady in the jungle is just a crazy lady in the jungle.

i dont think based on the first few appearances in season 1 and 2 that we "needed" a Rousseau episode but that's when everyone started clambering for one cuz, admittedly, it would be cool.

their mistake if they didnt really want to do one was saying "yes" when asked if we'd ever get a Rousseau flashback for the past couple of years. they could have just said that Danielle's backstory will be kept vague and open to interpretation.

but after hyping it for three years in their public appearances, it would have sucked not to have an episode explaining more.

Rrb said...

I still think we need to see the Alex back story. How, and why was she taken, and by whom? Or they could take the Palmer road and leave it vague.

PalmerEldritch said...

it'd be cool to see Ben taking Alex. i like to think Ben convinced/tricked Rousseau into giving Alex to him. maybe in some weird ploy to make Annie love him.

i dont like to think that Ben is Charlotte's dad though.

memphish said...

I've always thought that Ben talked Danielle into giving him Alex making her think it was her idea. You know the way Ben does. I still want to know when the Purge was relative to Alex's birth as well. There's conflicting info. on that.

I'm not a big fan of Charlotte is Ben's daughter either. Ben's too much a control freak not to have known Annie and any offspring's whereabouts. I still think she's the Goodspeed's, though the accent doesn't fit.

As for Carlton, what makes a better, visually satisfying story, a crazy Smoke affected French team trekking to the Black Rock or Jack flying a kite? Seriously!

And as for Libby and their apparent uninterest in her. Then why do you even bother to write her character and put her in the mental hospital and in that terrible wig with Desmond? So Libby was merely coincidental, not fateful? Insert Bronx cheer here.

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, i'd like to know about Libby. but i'm not really looking forward to a Libby centric episode or anything.

memphish said...

I don't need a whole Libby ep. either, but I would like to know why she was in the mental hospital in yet another hair color and why she lied to Hurley about it. I also want to know if she's in anyway related to Widmore or Hawking or any of the others conspiring to get Desmond to the Island.

And I want some more Abaddon, so I'm going back to watching The Wire.

PalmerEldritch said...

i'm hoping that Libby was working for Abaddon.

mb said...

Holli -
I echo your frustration re: Danielle and Libby, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt FOR NOW. I'm of the opinion that Danielle's truncated story is the result of Mira Furlan wanting to leave the show, so they tied it all up quickly, like they did with Eko's story.
That said, I agree - what the f*** does Cuse need to go on the OLP and say to the harder-core fans (who are generally the ones who listen) that he doesn't care when he just spent 4+ years making it very clear that telling Danielle's backstory WAS a priority down the road. Between that and making it clear now that Libby was apparently a throwaway story (I'm guessing something they planned on telling when they thought they were going to be on a lot longer), Cuselof have kinda pissed me off at the moment.
I'm hoping that they get comments (and read them) re: Cuse's remark.

mb said...

Also - the spoiler seg is delayed - I may not be able to do one this week, but I'm going to try tonight. Sorry!

PalmerEldritch said...

as long as you get it up before season 6, i'll be happy.

andrew. said...

- I like the theory of Abaddon recruiting Libby, Palmer! Mostly because we don't know Abaddon's deal yet so it's easy to give him any motivations we want

- so i'm thinking this week's episode title, "316" is an Ajira Airlines flight. Part of my thinking is that it is one of the flights available on the Ajira Airlines website. I'm not a rocket scientist, i just pretend to be one on internet messageboards.

- I also think that Mrs. Hawking's job is to run the Valenzeti equation to determine the number sequence which can be used to, among other things, to determine location of the island. The numbers we were familiar with were changed when the wheel was turned and 3 is now one of the numbers (based on some podcast i was listening to saying that there were a bunch of references to the number 3 this season but i can't think of any others off hand). I think it's an elegant enough explanation of the numbers, that basically still just comes down to their being magical, that the writers can feel like they put them to bed.

- I had a good theory and I demand adulation! (thanks Palmer!)

- I'm 7 or 8 episodes into season 1 of Big Love. It's nice having a drama that doesn't involve big soap opera plot twists for a change.

- Nice Oscarscast Stephanie & Jordan. Other than my higher estimation of Milk, I agree with your picks.

- It's unseasonably warm in Pittsburgh today and i saw two squirrels chasing each other around a tree. Fuck that groundhog, Spring is in the air!

andrew. said...

- Oh Nos! Podcast fatigue has hit MB too! It's an epidemic the likes of which haven't been seen since the footening!

mb said...

Podcast fatigue - yes it does set in. However, this week is mostly due to the rolling illnesses which seem to plague my house right now :(
Plus it's the Ace's birthday this week and the wife is the one feeling ill, so I am getting b-day preparations together.

But maybe I'll get a FOURTH wind tonight (or eighth...or sixteenth). Already used up winds 2 and 3 ;)

andrew. said...

Kablamo with sexy results!

Jordan said...

Holli & MB, I'm with you on the Carlton Cuse annoyance. But I also understand what Palmer is saying. Sometimes a crazy lady in the jungle is just that. Actually that goes for a lot of the lesser things on Lost, like the Hurley bird, etc. At times I get really annoyed at the obsessive Lost fans who write in to the OLP because they tend to obsess too much over IMO trivial things. And in doing so, just frustrate the writers, and probably sometimes cause them to be obligated to down the road answer a stupid "question" that doesn't really do anything for the story of the show. As for Rouseau, I think MB is right. Mira Furlan asking to be killed off had to have thrown things off a bit. But now that they have this young Danielle (that doesn't really look like her), why is it still an issue? The past episode felt like the writers saying to the audience, "There! Are you happy now?!" And to that I say, no. What we saw/learned about Danielle and her crew didn't exactly explain anything. All it did was show us stuff we had been told had happened. I don't need to be shown Danielle and her crew go crazy. Being told is enough for me. What I wanted to see was what happened with Alex. How Ben ends up with her. To me, that's the only remaining gap in Rouseau's story. The rest can all just be written off as "she was crazy in the jungle". As for Libby, that to me is like what MB said. Something they started in the past, that they now realize they don't have the time to go into. You might reply to that, "why do they think that they dont have the time?" Easy. They didn't have anything planned. MB might hate me for saying this yet again. But Libby mysteriously being in the hospital was no different than a polar bear on the island, or the 4 toed statue, or any of the myriad of vague oddities the show has used as nothing more than things to make the audience go "hmmmmm". I'm fully convinced now that a good portion of the island's mysteries didn't have answers when they were made up. Again, not a knock against the show. It's just their writing style. They don't do it all at once. They come up with the set up early, then write the explanation later when they are better able to fit it into the overall story. Pretty smart actually, because it allows them flexibility and room to work. But again, I just get a tad bit miffed at sometimes when fans give non-important things like Hurley birds too much importance because they are of the belief that the show is once gigantic, extremely well planned out labyrinth. IMO, all that type of thinking does is lead to a bunch of wasted time focusing on things that the show writers will eventually tell us, "don't matter all that much".

Ralph- said...

I think that 316 is the Aaja flight that crash landed on the island that Jack Sun Ben and Desmond are on.

Jordan said...

Back to the whole, "somtimes a crazy lady is just a crazy lady" point real quick. We can see how annoying it gets when the show gets too heavy handed with the exposition.

"I am Danielle. Danielle Rouseau. I am French. And I am pregnant!"

IMO, we're much better off having certain things left to the imagination. ESPECIALLY stupid things like Hurley birds, four toed statues, etc. The only stuff I feel like I deserve to have explained to me is character driven stuff. Like if you tease Libby in a mental institution in Hurley's past, follow up on it. Stupid "things" we briefly notice in the jungle that haven't factored into the show up to this point story-wise, could care less. Focus on the characters you've introduced. And let the mythology of the island be told through them. No need for "and now let's time travel to (insert time and place) to explain and show you when (insert vague reference from a past episode) happened. Don't care about that stuff. I don't need to see things I'm already aware of spelled out for me with not much more information given.

Patton Oswalt sorta explains my point in this joke here. Not entirely, but he makes a point that goes along with what I'm saying. Plus, it just a really funny bit.

Jordan said...

I think you guys are totally wrong about 316 being the flight # for the plane. Because it's clearly a Stone Cold Steve Austin reference. The island is going to turn into the island from The Condemned. And the Losties are going to have to go all Battle Royal on each other.

Jordan said...

Great FOTC ep this past week! I think Palmer is the only other FOTC fan out there. But it was awesome. The ep was directed by Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director, Michel Gondry. He was a former music video director, so he's in his element directing the two musical pieces. Both good songs too. Too Many Dicks on the Dance Floor
and Choir of Ex Girlfriends. The 2nd vid being very creative and Gondry-esque. Good stuff.

Stephanie said...

Andrew., It's funny how HBO edits Big Love commercials to be very dramatic when the show isn't very. I love it though. What season is it on? Three? Well, this season is excellent.
With having enjoyed Dollhouse, I've started on Buffy. OMG what a horrible pilot. Lame doesn't even begin to describe it. I'm now skipping to the one entitled Angel and then to the season final. I saw a snippet and it appears that the Whedon humor is starting to develop. I hear season two as well as subsequent seasons are excellent.
What's on tonight? Tuesdays are light for me.

yes, i'm looking at you Our-Heroes-Crest-a-Hill-One-At-a-Time-in-Agonizing-Slow-Motion scene.

memphish said...

To dissent, I think the sickness, what it was, how Danielle's team acquired it, whether or not it was real is integral to us knowing if any of our LOSTies are getting "sick" too, or whether the French chick was merely crazy. In the OLP they said something did happen to Robert et amis. And that's what frustrates me. We still basically don't know any more than we did before, we just saw what Danielle told us. What I wanted to see was a day in the life of the Frenchies manifesting whatever it was that Danielle perceived as the sickness. One evil grin before pulling the trigger from Robert did not a sickness make IMHO. And it goes to the Alex story as well. If it's Rousseau that's sick that makes Ben's kidnapping a "good guy" thing to do. If she's not, then Ben remains pure evil despite his temper tantrum in the van.

Holli

Really Steph? Not only did I really like both of the songs. I also found the NZ-Aussie jokes hilarious.

"Did she have an (Australian) accent?"

"What did it sound like?"

"It sounded like an evil version of our accent."

mb said...

After Cuse's comments I totally think that there are going to be a bunch of things that will not be explained and that detail-loving fans are going to be disappointed by (like Libby). I still hold to my opinion that time-travel is not one of those things, but Cuselof seemed to make it clear by their comments that there are details that have been introduced into the show which apparently are not that important now.

I think what is happening is that, now that there are only 28?? (not sure) more episodes, we are seeing which details have been excess baggage (introduced b4 they had an end date) and which things are/were part of the big outline.
Pardon my getting all metaphorical-like for a sec, but I think I just have to get used to the idea that we have passed over the summit and are heading down the far side of the mountain toward the end of the journey.

I'm still trusting them (through some disappointment) that the story to be told from here on will be a good one.

PalmerEldritch said...

"We still basically don't know any more than we did before, we just saw what Danielle told us. What I wanted to see was a day in the life of the Frenchies manifesting whatever it was that Danielle perceived as the sickness."

sure, we do. we're all pretty much in agreement that the Smoke Munster took the Frenchies over. right? that's a cool thing to learn.

hopefully, we'll get more info on Alex. but i'm satisfied with the info we learned about the sickness.

i know we all want lots of answers but there's over a season left and we all groaned at the ham-handedness and force feeding of the "hey, i'm danielle fuckin' rousseau" and the Eloise stuff.

i'd hate to have had Danielle do that again. "Mon dieu! ever since you came back from under that wall near a temple where you had been held by a smoke munster, you are acting strange. i will call this The Sickness. in sixteen years, i will make vague references to this and, certainly, your acting strange after the smoke munster attack is exactly what i'll be referring to."

know what i mean, verne?

memphish said...

I liked that Aussie accent joke.

So MB, will they be able to give us an edited down version of the series when it's all said and done with the garbage they didn't need after all edited out? Let's see, omit Kate's plane (and the 2 entire episodes that dealt with that especially since we turned kick ass Kate into a dithering damsel in distress by mid-S2), omit Libby, omit most of the what the French chick says so we don't contradict ourselves, omit Nikki and Paolo, take out Vincent so people stop asking us about him. Did Dickens do any of this shit when his serialized novels got complicated. No he did not. And the weasel-yness of Darlton in dealing with these things just ticks me off. Who do they think are buying the DVDs and watching reruns on SciFi and G4?

Bingo bango bongo, Holli! That's my main thing with this. I honestly don't care about how the show has gone down. As I've said before, it pretty much standard procedure in TV to work on the fly. But Damon and Carlton act as if they are above it all. They won't admit to anything, and when they get called out on it, they mock their viewers. How dare people say such blasphemy!

memphish said...

I didn't think the scene with Danielle and Robert proved anything, and I've watched it twice. If a crazy pregnant woman is pointing a gun at you and has already killed your buddies, you try to kill her first. That's not possessed behavior, that's sane. Nor have we seen Smokey act this way before. When he was Yemi, you couldn't have shot Yemi and had him lying there gathering flies in the jungle. Yemi was already dead.

A 9-month pregnant woman is the one whose changed. There's an alien sucking out your life. Especially when you're on an Island for 2 months and undernourished. For the producers to now have to say in their podcast, something happened to the Frenchies to clarify should prove they failed to clarify on screen.

I still want to know how did they change? Did they change in a way that their whole being was about protecting the Island rather than leaving it? In that case does Locke have the sickness? Does Ben? It also seems like if Smokey has created these minions why didn't he protect him?

I'm going to stop going off on this now. Remember back in Season 1 when things were supposed to be relatively plausible? Maybe I'll just get my S1 discs out and rewatch them endlessly and indulge in fanfic to satisfy myself (TWSS). Looks like that'll be the only way on some of this stuff.

- What's up Jellyman! I can't think of any huge news. You should call the TLI listener line though; they miss the accent.

Hello...have been off the blog for a few days, and just read all of the previous posts...plus these ones. Nearly 200...Christ no wonder I'm wiped out.

Speaking of wiped out...Ralph, I totally understand. The fatigue can set in alright. I get it all the time. My show is particularly edit heavy...it cuts into your life a great deal. Hang in there...eat well, get fresh air, it all helps. We only have two more seasons ;P

I fucking LOVED Galactica this last week. Brutal at times.

Nice to see our British members stick up so well for minorities and such...I'm very much on the same page there.

I have little to report other than I'm not enjoying this LOST season as much as previous ones, and I'm already trying to plan my comic con trip (which will be far better organized this time around).

good to see you, Seattle James.

calling you "James" makes me feel like Locke or an Other. i'll get used to it though.

Jimmy said...

Cheers Palmer...

Well I've always been James really...and only about 20% of anyone I know call me Jimmy...and as I get older and grayer I think the James is more becoming :)

Call me what you like, truly.

You buy a shirt...

thanks!

Stephanie said...

I have a TLI shirt in my shopping cart but ran out of money before I got around to ordering it. I will rectify that this payday.
I wish TLI had shirts at Sam and Nate. That way I could have bought all three shirts at one time.
Wonder when my Dharmalars and Jay and Jack shirts are going to be here.

I was looking back at the transcript for Solitary to see what Danielle said about the sickness and I ran across this when Danielle is first interrogating Sayid about Nadia when he had her picture.

SAYID: She wasn't on the plane. She's dead -- because of me.

Frak! Is this proof of a time loop from back in early Season 1? Or is this a Libby?

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, holli, i think you've caught them pulling a nadia retcon.

but darlton could argue that it wasn't a literal death but that she was "dead" to her family in Iraq because his actions caused her to have to flee the middle east (or southwestern asia if you prefer).

but, yeah, basically. they said one thing and did something else when it seemed like a better idea. :)

Chris JC said...

Is it not simply that Sayid believed her to be dead? They've never been backward about working Nadia into episodes.

PalmerEldritch said...

why would he think she was dead? am i gunna have to do actual research into this? or will chris do it all for me? :p

"[FLASHBACK]

Chris JC said...

I shouldn't even be awake - let alone researching.

Ah, sod it:

"Unanswered questions

* Why did Sayid tell Rousseau that Nadia was dead?"

Fair enough.

It's been a long time.

PalmerEldritch said...

so, episode nine he says she's dead cuz of him to danielle and twelve episodes later he remembers that.

maybe he was just lying to danielle?

by the way, back to solitary, danielle says "it took them. one at a time." must be Smokey's body snatching sickness. :p

PalmerEldritch said...

FOTC was pretty fantastic. off to find clips on youtube.

JoeSC said...

Ralph, I'm guessing that 316 is either bearing they must return on or the exact time that they must cross the "barrier" of the island to get to the correct time...

But that's just my opinion... as usual, I'm probably wrong...

JoeSC said...

Palmer, on the whole Sayid / Nadia thing, I think you're right. Sayid didn't know for sure that she was dead, but in that situation he felt that empathizing with Rousseau, even if it was a lie, was his best chance of survival. If he could convince her that he understood the pain that she had gone through, she would be more likely to let him go....

Again, worth a shot, but I'm probably wrong!

Fox Declares War against Lost

ABC's Lost is currently knee-deep into time-shifting with its bewildered castaways skipping through time with deadly results. Now Fox is doing some time-shifting of its own, but it's Lost's producers that will likely end up passing out and having the nosebleeds.

Fox is sliding its ratings juggernaut American Idol back one hour to 9 p.m. on Wednesday nights beginning March 11, says The Hollywood Reporter. The move puts Idol, which will be in its late stages of competition, squarely up against Lost in the time slot.

Though Lost and American Idol probably have very different audiences, no show wants to be opposite American Idol, and there's already proof that the reality giant will deal some damage to Lost. Last week, Fox stretched out a two-hour episode of American Idol that put a dent in Lost's viewership. With this move, expect Lost to continue to drop further, but pick up again with DVR viewing.

Ralph- said...

ratings schmatings. there is a contract and we will get our shows. i dont care if they show it at 3:45am, i live in the world of DVRs and no matter how much they fuck up, i will get the story of LOST played out in it's entirety!

Lost is awesome!

JoeSC said...

Ralph... truer words have never been spoken... Kudos!

Jordan said...

Agreed. Just seems rather petty of Fox. AI dominates regardless when it's on.

The one area for concern if ratings dip. And I admit, this is probably streching it. If ratings dip, ABC could pressure the writers to get even more heavy handed and obvious with the show. I mean, besides the more obvious storytelling, we have dumb-hanced pop up video, and even dumber "Lost Untangled". Not sure I could stomach any more. Blarg.

JoeSC said...

If I ever feel the urge to watch LOST Untagled...

...I deserve to get eaten by a grizzly bear...

Ralph- said...

dont watch the pop-up videos. you folks are smart. remember, blogs and podcasts are all you need to get your brain working more.

lost is totally sweet as just a tv show, and not all that other junk!

Chris JC said...

Andrew: so i'm thinking this week's episode title, "316" is an Ajira Airlines flight.

I've always thought it just means they'll be showing "One of Us" again.

andrew. said...

- Ralph & Alirio, please report for duty in the Birthday Hatch!!!

- ha ha, Chris. In reality, Lost re-runs are just the entire viewing audience skipping through time.

memphish said...

Happy Birthday Ralph!

Bonne fête Alirio!

Back to Sayid and Nadia for a moment. Later in Season 1 we learn that just before Sayid boarded 815 the CIA had shown him where the living Nadia was. That's why telling Rousseau she was dead and it was his fault doesn't make sense, unless it's after the O6 returned and he married her and she was killed. (Or unless they changed their minds and decided to forget about it.)

Holli

Stephanie said...

I think the writers wanted to have their cake and eat it too with Nadia. It always bothered me that Sayid fell so deeply in love with Shannon and was in love with Nadia at the same time. Shannon having a love interest would help make us have sympathy for her before her death and Lindeluse could use Nadia for later Sayid flashbacks. So, basically they contradicted themselves.

PalmerEldritch said...

or sayid is a slut.

also, it's not like Shannon was unattractive. sayid just needed some lovin'.

i think that could be written off (*groan*) as a personal incongruity rather than a writing incongruity.

also, LOST should have been addressing issues like that. at what point do you forgo your previous relationships if you're pretty much convinced that you're stuck on an Island forever? do you live out your days married to someone you'll never see again?

but, yeah, never really got that into that.

happy birthday, ralph-!

PalmerEldritch said...

hey!

Dharmalars and TLI on Lostpedia. you've made it to the big time!

Stephanie said...

There sure are a lot of Lost podcasts.

memphish said...

And there are so many Loooonnnnggg Lost podcasts. At this point I'm listening to Jay and Jack though sometimes skipping Listener Feedback, Dharmalars, TLI, Lostcasts and that's pretty much it. If I'm out of podcasts, not a problem right now since I went out of town, then I might listen to Lost Unlocked or Get Lost Podcast.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

good lord, yes.

i'm only subscribed to four though.

TLI
Dharmalars
Jay and Jack
The (Enhanced) Transmission

and even then i skip J&J's and The Transmission's phone segments. :)

memphish said...

So do you think it was Hurley saying the numbers on the transmission the Frenchies were getting?

Holli

memphish said...

I forgot, I do listen to The Transmission. Luckily, most of these space out well. I'm listening to Jay and Jack's Monday show right now, and that's it for this week. And I'm skipping Listener Feedback, so I hope there were no good theories.

Holli

Chris JC said...

I do those four podcasts as well, but if I'm running short of time, I find Jay & Jack somewhat easier to jettison than the others, which s purely a matter of taste rather than a critical note.

On top of that, though, I genuinely enjoy Mr Bill's Behind the Cutting Edge: LOST edition (although as a dumb limey I sometimes have trouble differentiating between hosts, which makes me feel bad) and LOST Unlocked which took me a while to get into.

TLI and Dharmalars are always listened to, utterly without fail.

I'm listening to the Official podcast. I'm feeling Holli's ire toward Carlton. "Good God. Bopo is with Libby and Kate's plane." He's coming across like an ass.

palmer, I guess we call them subs. I'm not a sandwich person. Big Ed is. He has his after-dinner sandwich each night.

WOW...I didn't know there were THAT many LOST podcasts. I subscribe to about 6--but listen to 2-3 right now. (Dharmalars/J&J/BTCE-Mr Bill's). I used to listen to The Transmission, but when they stopped doing their podcast, I stopped listening.

NEW THREAD

Jordan said...

What?! You guys all skip J&J's listener calls? Shame! lol. Just kidding. I haven't been able to listen to those for years. Nothing against J&J. But their average listener can be a bit, ya know...

All the talk about podcaster fatigue the other day. I myself, from time to time get podcast listener fatigue. There are times where I can't find enough podcasts to listen to, and then times where I get overwhelmed with too many. I fully admit that there are times where I don't listen to any of the Lost podcasts. Even the awesome ones here. (Gulp) But I almost always listen at some point. Depends on how hectic things are and/or how good the episode was. I will also admit to not being as big of a fan of J&J as I am the ones here. But they usually have their podcast up by the time I've finished watching it out here on the west coast. So it is cool to listen to as I fall asleep (hopefully before the caller segment).

Anonymous said...

Ha! I thought I was the only one who couldn't take the listener feeback section on J&J. But I HAVE to listen to it on TLI and Dharmalars-Kyle from KY and Dre callin outta LA!
