Play list for those interested:

Eloise – Barry Ryan
Does your Mother Know - ABBA
Outkast – Bombs Over Baghdad
Leader Of The Pack – Twisted Sister
Will.I.Am – I Got It From My Momma
Love Bomb – N.E.R.D
Ellie’s Love Theme – Isaac Hayes

Also who's watching the Super Bowl? It's boring this year...

New TLI! So awesome!

The game is on, but I'm not watching it. I saw and enjoyed the 3-D commercials and I've been watching the rest of them on Yahoo! No pesky uninspiring football in between.

At least you get the Super Bowl commercials...I can't even see those! DAMN YOU CANADA!!! *shakes fist*

memphish said...

3 log-carrying guys! Do you think one is the old guy who was so present in Seasons 1 and 2. Maybe the bald guy? And Sullivan. Or the girl who is probably Kate's stand-in. Have they killed any female log carriers?

Holli

t-dot kim said...

yes they killed a girl when they were attcked in Othersville

t-dot kim said...

WOW this Super Bowl game went from boring to friggin' amazing. :15 left and Arizona down by 4...

memphish said...

Yeah, the Claire/Sun stand-in. But any this season?

The book series Island that Aimee referenced is actually a 5th grade reading level, so all blogspot readers should be able to handle it. I've seen them at the book fairs for Kiddo's school.

Ahhh well, it was fun while it lasted

Holli, those will probably be the only books in the bookclub that I'll actually read :P

LOL

i've just looked on wikipediaa t the season 5 episode list, i know it's not the most reliable source... but... (i'm going to have to be cryptic just in case someone doesn't know the episode titles and doesn't want to be spoilt)

But the episode that was previously listed as episode 6 is now episode 7, and vice versa.

Weird.

Chris JC said...

I believe that's covered a bit in MB's segment.

Come on, Ryan - look at the time: we should both be in our beds and we know it.

As soon as this Icicle Works tune finishes, I'm off.

t-dot kim said...

I seems like The Office has been saving up all their good material for their "after the Superbowl" episode. This is one of the best episodes I've seen in a long time.

Chris JC said...

If Twitter is to be believed, it appears to be the funniest thing ever filmed.

What's that? I know, I know. I'm going to bed now.

t-dot kim said...

LOL!!!! "That's what he said...get it? 'Cuase he's gay"

t-dot kim said...

And by cuase, I mean "cause"

ok, i'll stop.

So...new Chuck, and Heroes tomorrow, eh?

Eh, The Office had it's moments. But I really didn't like a lot of the "tear apart Michael Scott and make him feel horrible" stuff. The show struggles sometimes IMO when it crosses the border of innocent teasing and pranks. Like with this episode, I just don't find people being mean-spirited to be that funny. Being flat out hateful isn't so hilarious in my book. The Jack Black/Chloris Leachman stuff was pretty damn funny though.

Heroes returns tomorrow! Everybody rejoice!

England is closed today due to a bit of snow. I am stuck in Fitzrovia, listening to TLI, waiting for the pub to open.

Thank you for the banter Kimberley & Aimee.

I can't believe I posted this whole thing on the last thread - oops

Jordan,
I wasn't clear in explaining my reason for using that quote. I wasn't actually trying to further disprove you, I think we partially agree. My point was that I think you are right that they didn't know exactly what the f**k they were going to do when they had an indefinite amount of episodes ahead of them, and I think Damon used the term "non-linear" storytelling precisely because they didn't know in the beginning that they were going to have the island skipping around like it is - only that the island's story went way beyond a plane crash and it's survivors. I think the original outline was indeed very vague and they only had certain major elements and plot points to work with and fill in the blanks around - and they've said this before when asked whether they have a plan. I remember one of them mentioning that Locke seeing the light turn on in the Swan hatch was one of those plot points (I do not have a link/reference, sorry). So I totally agree that most of the storylines and arcs have been inventions along the way, and indeed they've "done a pretty good job of walking the tight rope".

I also think that they may not have had the idea early on that the 815ers (+ other added characters) specifically were going to be skipping through time on this island. But, to be contrary for a moment, I have to say that by introducing a 16 year old looping message (+ accompanying crazy French woman who has a mysterious past), two skeletons which Jack estimates are 40-50 years old in the caves, a 19th century slave ship, a 30+ year old disappeared research organization, evidence (the knife) that the U.S. army visited the island (Ana Lucia thought 20 years ago), and the remains of a four-toed statue reminiscent of the Colossus, we are given some foreshadowing that non-linear storytelling is a possibility in future episodes - how it's going to be done was a mystery, but the groundwork for possibly including time travel in the show was definitely laid. Understand - I'm NOT saying these things point definitively to time travel being the only way to explore them, but I don't think you can say that nothing in Season 1 and 2 COULD be seen as pointing to time travel. Also, I'm not sure that the time-travel storytelling they are doing is an "extremely convenient way to answer a ton of questions and make the show a whole lot more obvious to casual fans." It seems like it would confuse the hell out of a casual or first time viewer.

But I CAN imagine that many people thought those elements were maybe just going to be part of the backstory of the island, told through narrative or other ways that didn't directly involve our protagonists' involvement or experience - that was another possibility.

The bottom line is we're probably never going to know what went on in the writers room, so you may be right about Cuselof - they may or may not be lying to us.

....and I'm spent. good night blogspotica.

I know this will be a shocker, but I'm actually tempted to watch tonight's Heroes. And the reason -- not that football ad, but Juliet's hit by a bus husband who I very much enjoyed on season 1 of Damages. My DVR is already about to blow a circuit between Chuck, HIMYM and 24, so I think I'll ask y'all for a recommendation tomorrow and try to pick it up on the interwebs should it prove enjoyable.

I can give that to you MB. Good points. Seems we agree more than we initially thought.

Yeah, so I think I officially despise Itunes. 2nd time in a month that my library file has "corupted". Get to re-populate my database of 8,000+ songs and however many countless podcasts once again. Screw you Apple and your smug, obnoxious advertising.

If you're looking for some Boobs check out the Offical Lost Video Podcast. Chris in Boston who some of you met at ComicCon and who hangs out on Twitter is in it too.

- WOOOOOO STILLERS!!!! I admit that the game wasn't very pretty on the whole, but that 4th quarter was intense. I giggle uncontrollably every time I see the replay on the Harrison interception/touchdown. It's basically a holiday in Pittsburgh today.

- Downloading TLI now!

- Jordan, you might like the "Lost Lowdown" podcast, they basically spend the exhaustingly long length of the show tearing the writing apart, but as fans. I tend to agree with you that the original outline was probably really bare bones, with just a couple of milestones penciled in, but at the same time i think they script the seasons much more tightly than some other shows.

PalmerEldritch said...

congrats, andrew. much closer game than i was expecting. the cardinals played MUCH better than they did in the regular season but my (pretty darn safe) prediction of a Steelers victory came true.

great episode of TLI, ladies. fantastic job!

Jordan said...

Yeah, congrats Andrew. Much as I told Mr. McFur when his baseball team won the world series, I am extremely jealous.

Like Aimee, I was expecting Jughead to be connected to Sawyer some how.

Blogspot poll: Heroes? Thumbs up or thumbs down? Support your position.

I loved the B story on Chuck, but felt that they completely underutilized the 3D. No good flying off the screen stuff and the colors weren't off. Was that the same for everyone or do I need to get my eyes checked?

Ooh. Thanks for reminding me Kirk! Now I just have to go find my "hbo". Where is Andy Bernard?

Jordan said...

Heroes and 24 on the same night?! Holy ridiculousness overload Batman!

scrdmnkydst said...

I've just finished watching Heroes.

I am seriously ready to give up on this show. The latest episode is utter complete gash.

Jordan said...

Come now Ryan. Aren't you still pissed out of your mind? lol.

Haven't watched it yet. Will at some point. Cool that Zeljko Ivanek is going to be on the show. He's been in a lot of Shows I've liked. Oz, Homicide, Lost (although very briefly). I hear he was very good on Damages.

As for Heroes, I'm not expecting much. When is it that the Bryan Fuller writen episodes start? Something like the final 4 or so of the season, right? That's what I'm waiting for. I won't give up on the show until I give him a chance to try and save it. After season 1 of Heroes and Pushing Daisies, he's earned enough credit from me.

Jordan said...

Apologies Herlihy. What a mess. Tim Kring needs to be kidnapped and locked away somewhere where he can't make television shows.

Holli, I'd take a pass.
