Hey! Nice!

And to think I nearly put my movie price rant in the other thread. Movie tickets are only 9 US dollars? That's a BARGAIN.

I didn't see Vantage Point, cos we haven't been trusted to see it yet, but I did see The Bank Job - Jason Statham and pals rob a London Bank (exteriors filmed at the actual bank they are supposed to be at) in 1971 and then meet some nasty underworld bastards.

Totally recommended.

By the way - Oreos have just been launched in the UK.

They're pretty nice, aren't they?

And thanks to Hurley, I know that I should twist.

Chris - The Wank Job is good?

Step Brothers looks very laughs.

I enjoyed The Bank Job. Period setting is nicely done. Keeley Hawes in a blonde wig. David Suchet playing a really nasty fucker who looks a bit like Ronnie Barker. Peter Bowles swearing.

And you get the joy of working out who the Royal is (not very hard to do).

It doesn't hurt that I like Statham but also it... at least to my sheltered eyes... seems to fairly convincingly portray some of the nastier elements of London society left over from the 1960s. It weaves in very genuine figures, such as Michel X, and has Colin Salmon cast heavily against type.

And it's from the writers of The Likely Lads.

Finally - if Keeley Hawes doesn't do it for you, Saffron Burrows is in it too.

I did like it. So did the wife, although she squeamed a bit when it turned from being a fun caper into something nastier.

Damn it, iTunes. You're making me late for work.

memphish said...

There was a time in the UK you couldn't get Oreos? Are you sure you aren't living behind the Iron Curtain Chris?

My iTunes gave me TLI:Eggtown, not TLI:The Constant. Anyone else have that problem?

I had to go and get the episode from the page - it didn't come up automatically.

Oreos - I've never seen them about until recently (started advertising on TV too), but I can't find anything about a launch.

In fact the Wikia rticle for them says they were created by Nabisco pretty much to nab the UK market.

Bonkers.

Rrb said...

Good Pull Memphish I would have never noticed. That would have sucked at work! hmmm what up itunes?

Stephanie said...

I had to get it from the page also.

well, it downloaded via itunes for me. and then i synced my ipod and ran out to the car. drove off and queued up TLI and got... three unlistened to spoiler segments but no TLI proper. d'oh! guess my ipod settings cap a podcast at three. argh. i'll have to listen plugged into my laptop.

holy fuck. bryan adams AND barbra streisand?! kim, what are you doing?!

i forgive you. especially since you'd probably say "sorry" in a canadian accent.

p.s. a link with a girl looking for a link of her own!

Chris - Oreos have been about for a while now. You'll find them in aisle 3 at the Coop, just next to dried fruit.

And as i haven't seen any of these on here for a while: Your name in Japanese

PalmerEldritch said...

elias, tim, and chris...

if Oreos are rare in the UK, have you never had "Cookies and Cream" Ice Cream!?

also, for kim, according to Wikipedia, Oreo Cereal is big in Canada. true in the t dot?

also, has anyone had Dominos Oreo Pizza thing?! blech. looks pretty gross.

Chris JC said...

We definitely DON'T have the Oreo pizza.

Or the free delivery for a late pizza from Dominos.

If you phone up for an order, you get told it'll be 40-45 minutes.

ALL our pizzas should be free.

Chris JC said...

I see they don't do that in the US any more, either - so shall cease my whining.

PalmerEldritch said...

chris, it went from "under 30 minutes or your pizza is free" to their new ad campaign which is centered around "you ordered a pizza, what are you going to do for the 30 minutes while you wait for it to be delivered?"

which gave us this gem.

Chris JC said...

I suggest that customers could spend 30 minutes thinking about how a branch of Dominos Pizza which is, by road, exactly 0.6 miles from my door, approximately 2-3 minutes drive takes at least 45 minutes without fail to deliver pizza.

PalmerEldritch said...

chris, apparently, dominoes can no longer avoid the 'noid.

Chris JC said...

The consistency of the cheese is bollocks on that ad, too.

I really am in a strop, aren't I? I'll stop moaning after the following:

I've found a much cheaper cinema relatively near my home - this one only costs the equivalent of $15.18 per ticket instead of the usual $18.75.

So that's good news.

PalmerEldritch said...

dont forget that your taxes are high.

and you have a VAT.

Kim, I hope your trip is to a mountaintop over Whoville where you're heart may have an opportunity to grow like the Grinch's. (JK. Everyone's own experience is valid, but this does put you in the ranks of heartless casual viewers.)

Aimee, if you and I had watched together, we would have made it through an entire box of Kleenex. My husband got home 10 minutes after the episode and I was still wiping away the tears.

Steph - Papa John's have only a few stores in my area, all strategically placed just outside a worthwhile delivery area.

Rrb said...

I got nothin!

Rrb said...

I like nonchain pizza..local stuff

Stephanie said...

Chris, I was trying to say Papa John's is the best. I think they do the same as Chick-fila. They don't saturate the market ala McDonald's. It's so far from me too. But that's not saying much. I live in the Boondocks.
