Palmer I'm done with the Lost game can't say I'm overly impressed. Let me know if you play it, I'm curious for another lost fans funny thoughts most of my problems revolve around Locke and the stupid previously on lost.
I don't really care much for the prev. on Lost in the show in the game it's like a knife being twisted in your back.
Or any one else for that matter who wants to pick on it with me throw some thoughts out there it's probly been out long enough to start spoilin?

No Country For Old Men- the best movie of last year? Really?

Really?

Really?

Rrb said...

Steph I watched 3\4's and stopped, An went to bed, I was tierd. Nothing to do with the movie. I was kinda mad to stop it but I was fallin asleep(passin out).
So the next day I kinda forgot it, the day after that I did'nt feel like it, The next day I put it in and, started typin on the blog as it was going through the opening warnings, and found my self more entertained here then watching the movie I went to the trouble to re Queue...ha So I guess I should go finish it. I'm curious about the end but..It's not that important, The way I think I feel about this fil No Country For Old Men. It's not THAT Important...RRB and Ebert is he the one whos dead?

Rrb said...

I just read the last part..thats kinda tacky, What a weird word tacky, thats tacky..strange..hmmm

Stephanie said...

rrb, yeah. I was expecting to be blown away but wasn't. Just like Michael Clayton. Didn't care for that one either.
I have 24 questions so far for Aimee and Kimberley. Should that be enough?

Dear blog,

Saw this, and thought of you.

How many five year olds could you take in a fight?

Jordan said...

Oh, this too.

Chris JC said...

I see that Dre has set the dangerous precedent of sending in more than one entry to the karaoke.

I have one thing to say to that:

Be afraid.

PalmerEldritch said...

18.

I could take 18 five years old in a fight.

do i know this from taking the quiz or experience?

Stephanie said...

I could take on 14.

Vantage Point: I heard a Q&A with the screenwriter. Reading between the lines, I take it that the interviewer read the original script years ago and admired it greatly. But the movie, he seemed to mock. Sounds like the studio dumbed it down and made Dennis Quaid the big star focus point, pushing Forrest Whitaker's story back. Hollywood studio executives suck big, fat wieners.

- it's my birthday but i'm forced to order food in because it's also de facto St. Patrick's Day and the supid quotient is off the charts outside.

- i got the Lost video game but i can't play it because i can't update my video drivers. despite all of the lackluster reviews, i'm excited about hanging out in the Swan station.

- i liked No Country For Old Men but i didn't love it. The story & themes are kind of old hat but i liked the pace and the acting.

- i hated Michael Clayton.

- i'm working on my top films of 2007 entry for my blog, both of those movies are mentioned, but i'm turning out to be very slow at writing blog entries.

- i wanted to listen to the Jay & Jack marathon but it's a lot of commitment. i think i'll have to resort to downloading the segments later.

- so is there a new episode of Lost this coming Thursday or are we on hiatus? Should i expect a Dharmalars or Lars episode?

Chris JC said...

That call to the Dharmaline cost me somewhere between five and six dollars.

So that was clearly money well spent (!)

Sorry to all for that glitchy, unintelligible mess.

DenAss said...

26 5 year olds in a fight. But I question this quiz's accuracy. The most I've ever even tried to best is 7. And that was TOUGH! Especially in a bounce house as we were.

Stephanie said...

I tried listening to the live podcast. Technical glitches forced us to move channels. I suppose we crashed it with so many folks online at once. Jorge was fascinating as always.

Rrb said...

I could kick 17 5 yr olds, It helped to picture them as the gang of kids in Hostel.

Steph I listened to the Movies you should see on The Prestige, that had so many layers they were forgeting charecters. lol
And I was thinkin they thought Pulp Fiction was deep..

Andrew the Swan was Station was cool to chill in for the short period of time your there, wich is now that I think about it half the game. I think it would of been cooler if you could have change some events like dig up nikki and Palo or see whats behind the fake door in the mountai..Or all the other crazy ideas I would find fun..I have some big Problems with the ending...

Stephanie said...

rrb, I listened on the way to work today. I didn't care much for The Prestige except for David Bowie. He knocked my socks off!

Rrb said...

Steph I have alot of thoughts on the podcast in question but as, I type I realise it's not the time.

I think there funny and not to be takin Seroius. If your bored one day I'd say find a movie you like and cheack out there thoughts You will be surprised maybe you'll here Barkly????

Rrb said...

I thought the Prestige had some of the BEST twists i've seen in a movie.

But all the other stuff is in question .It's been abit since I viewed it. And knowing myself.
I probly had a few..So? I know I liked it, and I did'nt stop half way through to go to bed so thats a good sign..I like not knowing whats coming next(LOST) so I'd say this was a good movie for being surprised..

Trevor McFur said...

I could take 20 5-year olds in a fight. By turning off my moral compass, I could increase it to 24.

I don't know, I think that I could do a little better than that. I think that the trick would be to use one kid as a weapon and use him to take out large chunks of the other kids, either by swinging him around or by throwing him into the other kids. You could probably take out half a dozen kids just by chucking one into the group. Yeah, ok, I'll stop now.

Watched 'No Country' last night. I liked it, but was definitely a little bit let down by it. I'm not sure if it was because I had high expectations because of the awards, or if because I read the book, I knew exactly what was coming (it's a very faithful adaptation). I was even a little bored, and not just during the last 20 minutes or so. I watched Michael Clayton last weekend, though, and thought it was fantastic and incredibly gripping. I'd rank it much higher than NCfOM on my list.

Did you know that, while St. Paddy's Day is usually March 17th, it's not permitted for a Saint's day to fall in Holy Week, as it is right now.

Does that mean there isn't a St. Patrick's Day this year? Of course not - it only means that you've missed it: they already had it on Saturday.

Check it out!

Additional fun:

Fans of A Very Special MYOKOM w/ SAS may be very amused by what I saw advertised on television a few days ago.

Happy St. Patty's Day. I hope everyone is wearing green and drinking beer. As it is not quite 11 am I am 1 for 2 in those things right now. I'll let you guess which.

Since I missed the LOST thread I'll chime in a bit here. I hope we don't get anymore mixed flash episodes. I feel like it was a cheat. The cell phone was a big clue that was what was going on, but I still kept trying to force Jin's story into him being Ben's newest hitman and pulling a gun out of the panda. I was also fearful the baby was going to be Michael's. Thankfully that scare is now over.

I'm also glad the Michael reveal was not the end. Good call on that being anti-climactic at this point and not sticking it at the end.

Here's something I can't figure out -- how does Kate who was not visibly pregnant on 815 have an at least 2 month old and Sun also not visibly pregnant not give birth until at least 5 months after she leaves the Island?

I stuck some polls about the episode up on my blog. Stop by and vote. For the record, I think Jin is alive on Island and the O6 know it, but that the deal was they leave and never return and those left behind can never leave the Island. I also think Ben not Widmore staged the fake 815, though I could buy the reverse.

Trevor, I tried to join the b-ball thing. Is the bracket up yet?

If I may chime in on the movie talk here,

Michael Clayton: Great movie, I'm becoming a big Tilda Swinton fan. Tom Wilkinson was great as usual.

No Country For Old Men: I try not to give too much creedence to what the critics and award shows say about movies, so I went into this film completely unbiased. Watched it last tuesday. Good fucking movie point blank, period. I was gripped every time that Antoine opened his mouth to speak, or if he just sat there. that dude is awesome!

There Will be Blood: Out of these three I liked this film the least, but still a great film. Score was unbelievable. Daniel day is amazing. good story telling.

Jordan said...

And Steph. Don't exactly call me a proponent of the public school systems. I just believe that kids need to grow up interacting with others. They need to learn how to get along others and that they don't always get their own way. Because 99% of the time, reality ends up smacking them a cold slap upside the head when they are dumped into the real world.

Jordan said...

And I actually kinda agree with Bob Costas. What he says goes along with a lot of my rant from last week about user comments in web site articles. Costas isn't saying that all bloggers or internet commentators are idiots. Just that A LOT of them are. And the ones who are, do not deserve the attention. And I agree wholeheartedly with that.

Unknown said...

Jordan,

I COMPLETELY agree with you that a lot of people hide behind the anonymity of the internet to make idiotic comments.

The radio station I was listening to had an interview with him, and he didn't make the distinction between blogs, story comments, message boards, or chat rooms. At least to me, he seemed to say that bloggers hold no value. There are great blogs and podcasts that I read/listen more often than mainstream media, but it's a small percentage of everything that's out there.

It was this sentence that really got me:

'' Costas said. 'But it's one thing if somebody just sets up a blog from their mother's basement in Albuquerque and they are who they are, and they're a pathetic get-a-life loser, "

So I guess that make me a pathetic get-a-life loser except I don't like in my mothers basement.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know where TLI is today? I need my fix..!

PalmerEldritch said...

brennan, bob costas needs to be reminded that a lot of professional sports writers and commentators are pretty pathetic get-a-life losers too.

it's kind of a universal constant that there will be loud idiots saying obnoxious stuff among a sea of mediocrity with a few tropical islands of insightful thought, whether that be on the the radio, the television, or the internet.

unfortunately, another universal constant seems to be that the less useful stuff one has to say, the louder they say it.

/saying it loudly :p

Jordan said...

Brennan, I totally get what you are saying. And I agree with you. I guess I'm just making a distinction in my own mind between people like us and the people I feel Costas is talking about. Yeah, he is probably being a bit of an ass for generalizing it to the degree he is. My interpretation of his words is probably giving him more credit than he deserves. I agree with Palmer that it is a bit hypocritical, as a good % of the "media" is just as ignorant and full of itself. I think there's a middle ground in the whole debate, and that is where I agree with Costas' statements themselves. Maybe not his opinion, but the words in which he used. There really are a lot of idiots out there. But again, like Palmer said, there's a bunch of morons and losers in the media. Skip Bayless anybody?
