You can wait, it's not that great.

downloading now. i'm up too early because one of my housemates is having a came-home-drunk pre-crash doesn't-understand-volume-control sort of morning. no Danny Elfman/Oingo Boingo this week?
andrew.

Stephanie said...

Woo! Something to listen to on the treadmill.

Ralph- said...

i am sure Boingo will be back. there is only so much music i own that is not film score, so there should never be more than a 2 week break of Boingo, Ursula 1000, Comustible Edison or They might Be Giants.

Steph, be carefull on the treadmill, those things cause an exursion of energy.

Guys, good episode. Good job on the top 100.

And Jimmy, you are a god.

Stephanie said...

If 3x10 is half as entertaining as ralph- and Ben's version, then it will be the best episode eva.
I laugh every time I hear Jimmy say, "I'm sure you know what I'm talking about." Because I don't. I'm so not musically inclined.
I'm going computer shopping with my mom today. I feel like a kid in a candy store.

V. entertaining episode.

I had two wisdom teeth out earlier today, the podcast has cheered me up no end..

Jimmy said...

Colin, thanks for the support, mate :)

Tim (who I had no idea was Teej)...your calls almost make me homesick.

Good ep lads...I see our feed on the Lost Podcasting Network went belly up?

Does anyone even realize the Oscars are on this wekend. It's going to be the quietest one in years, I feel.

Back to lunch!

Datty Mike said...

Oscars this weekend?? Blimey, thats come round quick.
I've actually got monday off work, so i'll be able to watch it the whole way through - if i can keep me eyes open.
I'm rooting for pans labyrinth for the 5 or 6 its up for (especially best screenplay). I'd also like to see united 93 win best director.

It may well be a quite one, but should be good cause there's not gonna be one single blockbuster movie taking all the gongs - makes for a more interesting unpredictable night..

Get a Mac Steph...woohoo!

Great show guys. I loved the conversation about the VW van, and them driving around the island solving mysteries. Just like Scooby Doo, hahaha.

Wonderful job to Jimmy also.

Have a wonderful time tonight guys & good luck Ralph with next week!

Derrick Bates said...

Jimmy, thanks as always for the wonderful segment. I'm picking up the score for The Lives of Others based on your recommendation. What are your other favorite scores of all time?

PalmerEldritch said...

Oh those wacky Dharmalars. Most enjoyable as usual. Even if Ralph was working without a beard. Thanks to your podcast, my girlfriend thought I was alone in the kitchen laughing at my sandwich.

As for predictions for next week's high octane car hijinks episode: "The Sheriff" and Friendly in a cop car chasing Hurley and Charlie in the VW around the island as the whole thing is narrated by the decomposing corpse of the late, great Waylon Jennings.

Well, a guy can hope.

A guy can also hope for another podcast by Kim and Aimee. Any chance now that Aimee's not vomiting profusely, you recorded the heralded pillow fight episode?

Aimee, I totally hit up a local used bookstore to search down some "Stranger In A Strange Land" but they didn't have it. I was inspired by your bookwormery to take up reading again. But... it didn't work out so well.

aimee is lost said...

Don't let that stop you. I just finished it this afternoon, and it's not that bad. Very strange, and not the best of the Lost books, but not that bad.

PalmerEldritch said...

Aimee, are you going to start reviewing books on the podcast? Would said reviews contain the infamous phrase "kinky martian orgy porn?"

Anonymous said...

Still don't get the time thing Aimee, but never mind.

Watched all 16 episodes of Heroes yesterday, and despite delusions of grandure creeping in (i swear i could fly for a bit) i am pleased to say i can understand what you're all on about now!
And here is my first input on Heroes. With all the comparisons to Lost, in this last week's episode, Nathan said that if people found out about the heroes, they'd round them up and stick them in a cage on a deserted island and do tests on them! Nice little nod i thought..

does anyone watch the 4400 i started watching that this weekend. i am on the second season. its pretty good.

anyone excited for the oscars?

Stephanie said...

I will be channel surfing the Oscars tonight. Anxious to see if they're gonna give Marty his Oscar already. Wonder if any American actress will actully win anything.

Mom picked up a HP with an AMD processor. I suggested the Intel but the salesguy saw she wanted to go cheaper and pushed the Athlon.
The salespaper featured a Mac but when I asked, "this location doesn't carry Apple." I don't know if I trust BestBuy anymore. I heard on Diggnation that the store has an intranet website with different prices than what you find online. Hmm.

I hear they are building an Apple Store here in B'ham so I've got to check that out before my birthday.

My mom watches The 4400. She loves it. I should pick up on it, since I've gotten her into so many shows; Lost, Heroes.

Heroes should be really HOT Monday night. I found a Behind the Scenes clip while searching for spoilers.

Palmer, I know as much about the Lost books as Jimmy does about the music (which translates to A LOT), but I don't think people are as interested in book things as they are with music. Plus my accent isn't nearly as sexy. Or at all. So I don't see the purpose in discussing it too deeply. I'll just probably keep doing what I'm doing, which is mention them, and tell you if the book is a wonderful classic, or kinky martian orgy porn.

PalmerEldritch said...

Teej,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Standard_Time_Zone
It has a nice little bit about television programming.

And, yes, HEROES good.

Mike, Steph,
'The 4400' is pretty good. Better than most television drivel. It's got a very similar premise to HEROES (people start popping up with crazity powers) but the execution is MUCH different. It also eventually starts guest starring the guy who played Herbert West in 'Re-Animator' so what's not to love?

Ben, Ralph,
Have you guys seen 'Re-Animator?' Netflix that shit. I haven't seen it in about 12 years but it's got zombies, decapitations by shovel, and attacks with bonesaws. How about Peter Jackson's 'Dead Alive?'

PalmerEldritch said...

Aimee! Use your nearly flawless Charlie Heironymus Pace accent, obviously. :)

aimee is lost said...

I don't know if I could keep that sort of momentum, brotha. Unless it was by accident of course.

Kim is editing our podcast right now, so it should be up today. There's some nice surprises in there. Oui?

PalmerEldritch said...

Mon dieu!

Sir William Osler, MD said...

Aimee,
I think you'd be surprised by how much people would enjoy some good, solid book reviews. Or you wouldn't be surprised. I actually have no idea if people would like or not.

I know I would like them, though, because I have started (trying) to read the Lost book.

Jon said...

i'm all for some book discussion - i'm too lazy to read up on them myself.

Anonymous said...

Oh ya, you've got some GREAT stuff to look forward to.

Ben & Ralph...awesome job, yet again. I laughted so hard when Ben said "Brown Star". But, you're always funny.

Congrats on the iTunes Top 100!

PalmerEldritch said...

Kimothy,

How's the editing coming along? I can't take the suspense. :)

aimee is lost said...

The one thing I would like to discuss would be the books that have a lot of Lost easter eggs in them. They don't come along too often, but every once in while, we get them, and they are a lot of fun to read because of all the juicy Lostness.

aimee is lost said...

The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne is still my favorite Lost book to date. Chock full o' Lost goodness, and I had assessed it to be very relevant to season 3 (which so far, it has). They found another guy on an island some distance away from the island they're living on, bring him back to their island, and he's all weird and messed up. Kind of Desmond-ish, kind of Karl-ish.

Anonymous said...

Palmer...I'm editing, but mostly laughing my ass off. I had to take a break, and I'm procrastinating because it's Oscar time, so I won't be posting the podcast until later tonight.

Oscar predictions
Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Hudson
Best Supporting Actor - Eddie Murphy
Best Actress - Helen Miren
Best Actor - I am leaning to Forrest Whitaker, but Peter O'Toole may get it...I'll say, Forrest Whitake, final answer
Best Director - I really want Martin Scorsese to TAKE IT!
Best Picture - Babel or The Departed (because that was my favourite movie of last year)...uhhhh, Babel...uggghhh, ok, Babel.

I just watched bable but i didn't really like it. I thought it was ok but i think a third of the movie could have been left in the editing room. I didn't think the story line of the gun owners daughter did anything special. The three other story lines were great. I loved departed (although the very end was a bit much) and little miss sunshine.

I got to work really early this morning and didn't know what to do. I suppose I could've started "working" but that would've just been stupid. So I started reading blog posts from waybackwhen. They were funny. Okay, clock struck 7. Time to work now. Garrghh.

PalmerEldritch said...

I've been at work for almost an hour and a half and I'm already clamoring for a much needed weekend. Blah!

I'm looking forward to your podcast, Aimee. Should help me get through the work week.

I'm totally looking forward to the VW on LOST Wednesday night. Or the VW-dirigible using Henry Gale's hot air balloon that Casey and I have been talking about over on the Dharmalars blog.

aimee is lost said...

I think everybody could use a little Hurley in their life right about now. Everything has been so serious and critical on Lost, so it'll be nice to have fun for a change.

PalmerEldritch said...

think we'll get some Libbyage in a Hurley episode this year?

aimee is lost said...

*Spoiler Alert*

Um...yes. In some form or another. This week.

PalmerEldritch said...

I should've just thrown it out there as a prediction then. Maybe win a tally from Jay and Jack. Or at least a thousand gold flakey stars.

Anonymous said...

speaking of flakey stars... is anyone else playing the Jay & Jack Season 3 Contest? Do they have a list posted of the questions that they've already deemed answered? Some of the questions are pretty open to interpretation & require a ruling from J&J. I know they mention them on the podcasts but didn't take notes.

The Hurley episode comes at a good time. I could use some levity.

yup yup,
andrew.

PalmerEldritch said...

Andrew, try e-mailing Jay or Jack about that. Also, I think that they check their message boards pretty often.

aimee is lost said...

Kim and I should have a contest....hmm...

PalmerEldritch said...

Aimee,

ARM WRESTLING. You versus Kim.

aimee is lost said...

I would sooo win that. Just kidding. I'm a total weakling. I'd start pulling her hair and it would end up a full-on catfight within a few minutes.

PalmerEldritch said...

That definitely get you on the iTunes Top 100 anyhow... :\

Maybe a contest where the winner gets 100 Nikki and Paolo pins?

PalmerEldritch said...

Or maybe the loser gets the pins? :)

aimee is lost said...

Oh, Nikki and Paulo, will you ever stop being the butt of jokes? No? Okay.

Anonymous said...

I'm I the only one who watched The Oscars last night?? 4/6 ain't bad. :(

TLI will be up soon.

VW bus - can't wait!

aimee is lost said...

I watched them for as long as I could, but didn't make it through the whole show. I was happy with the selections overall.

Helen Mirren is a hot chick; I pray I look like that at her age. The Will Ferrell/Jack Black musical number was hilarious, and I think Ellen did a good job as host. She made it funny, and a lot less stuffy. She just made the show feel really casual I think, and that made it more fun to watch. I laughed when she referred to Penelope Cruz as a Mexican and laughed even harder when she came back and corrected herself. I thought the Al Gore thing was just stupid though.

The last category I saw was musical score (I stayed up for that for Jimmy's sake.) I'm sooo happy for Martin Scorcese. He really deserves it because the Departed kicked ass, and he'd been passed up way too many times.

Stephanie said...

I watched most of the Oscars, Kimberley. Ellen did a great job hosting. Favorite part was Will Ferrell, Jack Black, and John C Reilly. Even though I haven't seen any of her movies, I really like Helen Miren from the Barbara Walters interview. She looked exquisite, 61 and no obvious signs of plastic surgery. Can't say the same about Peter O'Toole or Clint Eastwood. Come on guys, you're living legends- no need to try and fool us.
I wish I could have stayed awake to see Marty. Anyone know where I can see his acceptance speech?
Did I hear the sceenwriter of Little Miss Sunshine use the word funest?

aimee is lost said...

When I saw that guy up there, I thought to myself "That's gonna be Ralph someday!" hahaha.

PalmerEldritch said...

I didn't watch the Oscars...

Watched me some Extras, and then BSG. Where I learned that Baltar is STILL the man. And Roslin and Adama are annoying.

Jimmy said...

I had a disastrous night caught in a major traffic and general slowness.. It basically meant I got home half way through "Best Score" and had to cook a meal for myself through the rest of it. It seemed to start early?

Aimee...I was hoping to call :(

But I think everyone looked nice, I love Ellen. Nice to see Forrest Whitaker do his thing...Cate Blanchett as always looked amazing...Helen too, of course.

It was good...didn't like some of the musical numbers though, but like I said, was watching it in a very casual way...

aimee is lost said...

Did you get that text I sent about the sound effects choir? Was that even real? I was afraid to believe it was because I'd never seen anything like it, and I was like, "WOW!" but then, I had to stop myself, and say "wait a sec, is that like a joke?" That was the coolest thing ever.

Stephanie said...

BSG is back on track with the social and polital themes that make it so compelling. The stories are wrapped up too quickly for me. I have to remind myself it's a tv show and they only have 52 minutes. The Chief was just too cool after Adama did what he did. Don't want to spoil Jimmy if he hasn't watched yet.

PalmerEldritch said...

Someone needs to punch Roslin in the box.

I'm a little perturbed that lately she'll be a total beeyotch through half an episode and then a sweetheart in the next half.

Anyone catch Rainn Wilson on SNL? I sure didn't. So, the gal pal just e-mailed me a link to the opening monologue.

Steph,

thanks...I actually plan on the catch up tonight, I believe. It truly did seem to get stuck in the mud there for a bit. But don't wait to talk about it for my sake, though..I'm the one lagging.

Aimee...I habve3n't even figured what you meant yet about the choir...I will look it up. I was in a traffic jam when I got your text :)

I am a huge Roslin fan, actually...but will watch intently and see what's up. Babe though, you all have to admit.
