Great music selections Kim!

aimee in little rock said...

I think the "Best Line" could be a good category for next year's Losties awards show.

aimee in little rock said...

Great job once again Kim. I loved my shameless plug for the Dharmlars. I could definitely notice the level of energy in my voice lowering as the show progressed; toward the end I wasn't really saying much at all!

I just finished reading Laughter in the Dark; very good novel. It's one of those stories where they tell you the ending in the beginning. There was an interesting reference to a "white bear in Honolulu" which I found funny, but not a very Lost-ish read. Some of the storyline could prove to be coincidental once we learn more about the incapacitated Ben and former relationship with Juliet stuff.

Mike Campbell said...

aimee - are you going to be reading Slaughter-House five. i know it wasn't official but you should check it out. I have a long road trip tomorrow and this will be a big help!!

Datty Mike said...

Great podcast.
The accidental charlie impression bit had me cracking up...

One of my favourite lines this season:
"You're not taking drugs are you, John? I only ask because of the strict zero tolerance policy you've enacted.
I wouldn't want you to have to start punching yourself in the face"

PalmerEldritch said...

Thanks, ladies. You were both charming and boy-crazy as usual.

So, as a guy, I have to say that Claire's bangs are kind of weird but the girl still looks good. Ga-row!

And did I hear Kim speaking a little French right before the spoiler section? Yowzahs! Not bad at all.

aimee in little rock said...

I can't believe we didn't manage a single "that's what she said" the entire time.

I was cracking up at the Charlie-accent, but you can barely notice it! Kim was waaay overreacting! I had to replay it just to listen close enough to hear it.

Jimmy said...

I heard it, laughed my ass off. I thought it was Mrs Doubtfire ;)

aimee in little rock said...

Honestly, people. You guys are exaggerating bigtime.

Calvg said...

great episode with good music but i could only just hear it but i might just need to clean out my ears.

PalmerEldritch said...

Holy crap, Kim! Didja see Heroes?!

Oh yeah, looking forward to LOST.

I liked Aimee's little impression. Next week, let's hear her impression of Bernard. Each podcast, it's another of Aimee in Little Rock's World Famous LOST Impressions. I'm loving the idea. ;)

t-dot kim said...

Aimee, we're not overreacting.... your accent was hilarious!!!! Next week I think you should have a crack at Sayid's accent.

Palmer, I did watch Heroes!!! OMG! My crush on Peter Patrelli has tripled. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet--but it was the shizzy. The last 2 mins were crazy, and made me pretty mad because--well, I don't want to spoil it.

'Calvg', you don't need to clean your ears out, I set the background music to barely-audible so it doesn't overpower our voices.

aimee in little rock said...

I had to go back and listen to it again, just to see if there actually WAS music in there. Very subtle, but yeah, it's there.

I'm telling you people, I do the worst accents imaginable, and that Charlie thing was totally unintentional. I was just reading from my notes and my brain must've got too into the moment. Sayid sounds like he would be easy though.

OMG, Heroes was freaking awesome. I would never have recognized the supercool cameo if I didn't watch Kevin Smith movies.

stephsmith said...

This is what I wrote down.
After years of trying to make my hair do what it doesn't want to do, I've given in. I don't fight nature anymore.
I've been wondering where jellyman has been. I've meant to visit his myspace.
The hairdressers did a good job hiding Claire's bangs for a while. I remember seeing pics of Emily before the season began and wondered about her new hairstyle.
Alex- I think the girl is at an ugly duckling stage. She was a beautiful little girl and I predict she will be a beautiful lady.
Not another Jack flashback. Ugh.
And that is what I wrote down.

stephsmith said...

Heroes was awesome. It kinda drug in the middle but a great ending. With 5 minutes left, I realized nobody's died yet. And Kimberley, I never would have thought I'd love Dark Peter so much. Did anyone else shed tears?
I wish I didn't see the guest star's names in the credits. Very cool.

aimee in little rock said...

So I was watching 3x08 again to try and get less confused, and I think I figured it out.

When Desmond wakes up in his flat and sees Penelope, he has all of the emotions of the Desmond we know, and the reaction we would expect, but he doesn't quite realize why. All he knows is that he's in his flat and he's really really happy to see Penelope.

In between that point and seeing Charlie, he has the little memory flashes, but can't quite figure them out yet. The microwave beeping, Penelope saying "it's not the end of the world", the delivery for 815...and when he sees Charlie on the street - it all finally hits him. So he goes to see Donovan about it.

PalmerEldritch said...

Does Alex remind anyone else of Claudia Black?

Peter was kind of a jerk. I'm a little worried about him figuring out his powers. Makes him a bit powerful. I'm confident that they'll put some kind of cap on it though. Otherwise, he'll pretty much be the Martian Manhunter once he meets DL. Intangibility, invisibilty, flight, and mind-reading. But he probably won't be a green alien from Mars wearing a blue speedo and cape.

On a completely shallow note, Simone's a looker.

Oh! And why did HornRimGlasses know about the DeVeaux building?! The plot thickens (slightly).

Back to LOST, I'm really looking forward to getting away from the Others and back to our Lostaways. Get Jack out of there! And bring Juliet with him.

Mike Campbell said...

i downloaded the new podcast, but itunes says its 6 seconds long :( iTunes doesn't want me to listen to the glory that is kim and aimee :(

PalmerEldritch said...

Aimee, I think you're right. The dude's all scatter brained and probably doesn't quite remember the whole Island thing. I'm the same way whenever I jump through time.

aimee in little rock said...

Mike, only fools are imprisoned by space and time. It's a podcast puzzle you have to solve. There actually is a 46 minute podcast inside those 6 seconds; you just have to figure a way to get it out.

aimee in little rock said...

Okay, I made that up. You might want to try downloading again.

Ralph- said...

The deal with the two photos...

The real history of events of Desmond's past could have gone differently than in his Flashes Before Your Eyes version of his past. I have a feeling that the photo shoot was not really the last time that they saw each other.

I think that when Desmond saw the picture in his Flashes Before Your Eyes version, he knew that the photoshoot was his happiest moment and that he knew that he would always be able to have that memory in his mind, when he faced his destiny in the hatch.

this is not a real telling of what actually happened to desmond. i feel that desmond decided to cut his ties with Penny at that moment cause the photo was the final thing that conected him to his time spent in the hatch.

in the real version of desmond's past, he probably would not have had the ring, he would still have gone out with penny, he would have joined the scottish army to impress widmore, but now that he is aware that he cant change fate, he decided not to stretch out all of this pain and suffering for penny. she now does not have to wait for a letter from desmond for 7? years.

He knew then, what he knows now, and decided to cut it off sooner than later.

in the real telling of the past. Desmond and penny continued to go out with each other and Penny made a copy of the picture.

i know i am rambling, but it is really hard to describe my thoughts....

PalmerEldritch said...

Yeah, Old Lady Crazy Eyes definitely told Desmond that he wasn't supposed to buy the ring in the real time-line. So, what we observed in Desi's "vision" was NOT the actual time-line. Good call, Ralph.

As for the photo, in the real time-line, Penny probably just asked for another Polaroid so they could both have a copy.

Datty Mike said...

Where the hell is the offical lost podcast??
I wanna hear those goons "rehash" this crazy episode so it'll make more sense to me.

Ralph- said...

Sorry to bring up a 'Lars subject on the LI thread, but i just recieved an email stating that dominic monaghan had Jaw Surgery. I guess having an underbite can cause some really bad damage to teeth as well as cause some major headaches.

i sure hopes this works out for him. it will be a couple more episodes to get used to, but now that i know the reason why he looks different, i wont be obsessed with trying to find out what looks different about him.

Tall Guy said...

I like the Madman icons Ralph.

- i'm still having trouble deciding on what happened to Desmond. I'm now against the idea that he travelled in time in any real sense. Doing so would affect the present too much.

I'm starting to subscribe to the idea that the island gave Desmond a dose of Christmas past and future. Reliving his past means that his destiny was already written. He could alter the way he did things on a small scale but the larger strokes of his life have to play out. The exercise doesn't affect anyone else (except for saving Tiny Tim er... i mean Charlie), it's just an opportunity for Desmond to reexamine himself and his life.

I don't know how Desmond got out of the hatch or why he ended up naked, but then i don't know how Locke, Ecko, Hurley or Charlie made it out either, why Locke was mute, or why Charlie was such a self-absorbed weirdo when he made it back to the beach.

- I really want to hear the official podcast too. They sometimes settle some of the obtuse writing, like Jae Lee's suicide.

- the Alex thing. i think she's a properly pretty person for television, like Jack and Sawyer. It's just that i noticed that her pupils are kind of distanced too far apart and now i see it every time. i'm not trying to create body issues for anyone. Poor coconut-head and shoulder-neck. Nobody had better point out any flaws in Cindy (like that's possible)

- Ralph, i'm pretty sure that Madman has been optioned for either a film or a cartoon series. Considering shit like Ghostrider tops the box office, i'm sure every comic property will get made eventually. I've been a huge Hellboy fan for a long time, and that film was a love/hate thing from begining to end.

- make your own kind of music.

Ralph- said...

Dimension Films is producing Madman right now.

I really really like the way you put that: A dose of Christams Past.

that is exactly what i was thinking it was but could not describe it as such. brilliant!

aimee in little rock said...

I'm really looking forward to seeing turkey-neck Cindy tomorrow night.

PalmerEldritch said...

Aimee, now you're just making stuff up to mess with us. Cindy is not turkey necked.

Although, she does sort of look like Carlos Bernard from certain angles...

PalmerEldritch said...

Oh! Aimee. The suspense is killing all of us. How's the hair thing going? We'll need before and after pics.

aimee in little rock said...

Yeah, I just made that Cindy thing up. But I'm sure it'll stick.

Thanks for reminding me about the hair thing; I totally forgot to call the stylist back & find out what his research turned up!

Ralph- said...

Cindy does have Ham Calves and i am not just making that up.
See What I Mean?

aimee in little rock said...

I was expecting that link to take me to a photo of Cindy with two hams photoshopped onto her legs.

PalmerEldritch said...

"Ham legs" reminded me of The Deadly Bulb from the Tick cartoon.

Five points to the first person who can post a link to a picture of The Deadly Bulb and his dastardly pigleg.

aimee in little rock said...

Palmer, I get to have my hair done tomorrow at 5! It should take about 3 hours, giving the new Aimee just enough time to drive home before Lost starts.

PalmerEldritch said...

Before and After pics, damn it.

Now you've got us (me) emotionally invested in how your hair turns out.

aimee in little rock said...

You? What about me? I'm still a bit nervous myself. Will definitely post pics though. I hope I don't freak out and end up pulling a Britney.

PalmerEldritch said...

Yeah, just for the record, if your hair turns pink or something... not my fault. :)

You could go for the Mr. T look like Ben did for Halloween.

stephsmith said...

Thanks ralph- for sharing the info on Dom's chin. That was bothering me too. I was trying to rationalize it by his haircut.
Andrew, the smoke monster made Locke mute for loosing his faith in the island just as the angel Gabriel made Zechariah mute for doubting God's promise of a child in his old age (Luke 1:5-25). In that case, Boone is like an angel. Awe.
While watching, I wasn't bothered by the two pictures. All the talk afterward has me intrigued. I think I'll submit a question on to Lindeluse.

aimee in little rock said...

Remember way back in the day, when they read Ralph's question, then made fun of his name casinoskunk? That was nice.

PalmerEldritch said...

Remember when Ralph totally went ape-shit and broke both their backs? Nobody fucks with the CasinoSkunk.

PalmerEldritch said...

The preceding story may or may not be true... :\

aimee in little rock said...

I remember literally gasping when they said the name casinoskunk. I think Ralph said he posted his question like, 5 million times before they'd finally read it.

PalmerEldritch said...

Persistence pays. Good luck with the hair tomorrow, Aimee. I hope something LOST related comes up during the process. Like you need Hair Relaxer 815 and dyes 23 and 42 or something. Dharma Shampoo?

Landry said...

Like the music selections. Check out this Desmond centric song by LOST fan band The Others. It's called "Penelope" and it's quite pretty.

aimee in little rock said...

I loved how Kim did the "theme" style of songs; that was really cool. I'll have to check out that myspace thing when I get home! I remember last year there was some recorded band that had a song called "Don't tell Locke what he can't do", but there wasn't anything Lostish in the song at all.

Hollerin' Holly said...

LOL...I cracked up when you two were laughing about Aimee's impression of Charlie. Too funny!

Good work ladies!

Jimmy said...

>>Yeah, Old Lady Crazy Eyes >>definitely told Desmond that he >>wasn't supposed to buy the ring in >>the real time-line. So, what we >>observed in Desi's "vision" was NOT >>the actual time-line. Good call, >>Ralph.

I agree with this, and if you think about it...he originally wasn't hit in the head with a cricket bat either.

I'm becoming emotionally invested in Aimee's hair :) I am actually having mine cut tonight also, but the tension and anticipation just isn't the same!

Jimmy said...

You know, in truth I think she's a really attractive girl. I have trouble picking her age though, and suspect she is a lot older than the character she plays...that said, all I have to do is Google her and I can find out. Will later, I guess.

She looks a bit on the French side to me...or somewhere similar. I will add though, that she can't act her way out of a paper bag!

She's no Nikki...that's for sure

PalmerEldritch said...

Good news, Jimmy.

IMDB says Alex-actress Someone Somethingorother was born in 1988. So, not Jailbait. Phew!

I warn everyone about Claire when talking about Heroes.

"Hey, how do you like Heroes?"
"Oh, it's good. I really like that cheer--"

Datty Mike said...

Offical lost podcast is out.
Downloading now...

Mike Campbell said...

So is Jack dying this week?

Ralph- said...

mike, i dont even want to know why you are asking that

Goofball said...

Another good podcast Thanks Kimberley and Aimee.

Maybe next week you could have an Aimee-centric podcast and flashback to the beauty parlor. And the listeners will find out together whether your hair disintigrated.

Cindy DOES have ham calves. I also noticed in that picture she has large hands. She could palm a basketball.

PalmerEldritch said...

Cindy can palm MY basketball.

Whatever the hell that would be.

Mike Campbell said...

Well Aimee had a theory that Jack was going to die. Its a Jack centric episode. He is getting movie roles know. I just wanted to know if anyone was wondering it.

Yeah Stan Lee on Heroes

stephsmith said...

"Desmond’s flashback was not a dream
In the latest official Lost podcast, Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse discussed last week’s mysterious episode “Flashes Before Your Eyes“.
Carlton: I suppose people would wanna know… what does this mean?
Damon: Did it really happen?
Carlton: Yeah, did it really happen?
Damon: Yeah, I think it really happened.
Carlton: I think it did too.
Damon: One of the things we try very rarely on the show is to play something as having been imagined or dreamed. You know I would say in the global sense of things, Desmond back in 1996 actually had that experience. i would venture to guess that in future flashbacks of Desmond’s they would be treated as traditional flashbacks where he doesnt really have any awareness of his destiny but in this particular instance we went outside the box a little.
Carlton: Right, I mean it’s entirely possible that he can have a traditional flashback as well.
Damon: Absolutely, what’s interesting is that there are certain things that happened the way they used to happen that he changed as a result of being in the past, that might sort of resonate over time, like getting hit in the face instead of the bartender, or the fact that the photograph of he and penny got taken the day they broke up. Maybe in another incarnation there were two photographs, that would explain how she got one."

PalmerEldritch said...

So... Desi went back in time and changed things. But before he hadn't changed time yet which is why things are the same as they were before in the present.

Uh... so, Desmond really did manipulate time because things are the same?

Can someone translate from Cuselofese so that Damon's statements actually make sense?

PalmerEldritch said...

Or will Penny spend the next flashback wishing she had a photograph of her and Des because now she doesn't because of the time travel thing?!

DenAss said...

A few things:

1. Kim- Thanks for the youtube url. That's really f'in cool. I feel like season 2 was just totally recapped in just under 6 minutes.

2. Aimee - Hope you're feeling better. Since you haven't mentioned any incremental vomiting (band name!) I'm going to assume that you're on the road to recovery. And I'd also like to say that if the two of you hadn't mentioned that Aimee had to pause to blow chunks during the podcast, I never would have known. NICE editing job, K.

C. Hair talk - Claire's bangs. Girls, I'm sorry to say this, 'cause I usually feel you with your opinions of the Losties, but I have to say that Claire is f'in hot. Bangs or no bangs.
- Aimee's new style. Count me as another who's morbidly curious about just how this is going to turn out. Looking forward to the before and after pics. But Aimee, if there is "an incident" at the salon station and you end up "pulling a Britney", go all the way and get some new tatts while you're at it. Maybe have Ralph design your own special Aimee in Little Rock logo, and get that tattooed on the back of your neck. How fuckin' cool would THAT be?

IV. Did anyone see Jim Carrey on Letterman last night pimping his new movie, 23? Dude could have been a total LOST theorist with all of his character's evaluations of the number 23. I'd love to see what he would do with the rest of the numbers. On another note, I really want to see that movie now.

Cinco. Heroes. Very cool episode this week. I like seeing Peter begin to have some control over his powers. Now, I haven't been watching this from the beginning, so can someone tell me if he's ever met Hiro? Curious if they're going to use that device to play around with the ending of this week's show.

ok, I've rambled on enough.

I can't wait for the next podcasts from the TLI - left some voicemail, and i can't wait to hear fucking ill i sound. I'm at work at the moment, but i swear i'm going home soon. My other half's already in bed, and i feel like i should be there with her, annoying her with my constant playing ox the 360.

On another note, giving up the smokes, as i'm ill. If someone wants a fight, i am well up for it.

aimee in little rock said...

To dumb down Cuselof's speech:

- It was not a dream or subconscious thing. It was actually happening.

- We never did a flashback like this before, and we might not do it again. This was a test run. The next Desmond flashback might just be normal.

- Desmond changed some shit around. He wasn't supposed to get hit with a bat. Penelope was supposed to have a copy of the photo. She doesn't now.

Got it?

aimee in little rock said...

Denass, thank you and yes, I am feeling better. I was normal again by Monday. Kim covered it all up in the editing very well.

I hope all goes well today with the hair. I'm starting to get nervous. Not so much because I'm scared they'll disintegrate it because I have nothing but trust for gay hairstylists, but nervous that it'll look bad or something. If I don't like it, I'm stuck with it. It's like hitting your hair with a cricket bat; you can't go back now.

PalmerEldritch said...

So, Penny won't have a picture of her and Desi anymore. Eh?

So, everything pre-"Flashes Before Your Eyes" is Timeline A and everything after is Timeline B? A tad inelegant for my tastes.

From now on, I'll try to take a cue from MST3K...

"If you're wondering how he eats and breathes
And other science facts,
Just repeat to yourself 'It's just a show,
I should really just relax'"

p.s. good luck today with your hair, aimee. if all goes well, you'll go from having a 'good' hairdo to having a 'great' hairdo. and then, MacCutcheon's for all!
