I just took this aol tv quiz and learned that Josh Holloway was on Walker, Texas Ranger.

I knew Chuck Norris was involved in this somehow.

yay hurley flashback. I wonder what we will learn of him today. I read somewhere we are meeting his dad i think.

aimee is lost said...

Cheech Marin is supposed to be Hurley's dad. And there was an actor credited as a "young Hurley", which HAS to be the cutest thing ever.

Is it just me or does that photo make you think of Pirates of the Caribbean? The ride, not the movies.

aimee is lost said...

I think that skeleton is actually Jack Shephard from the futurepast.

That body has a tiny head.

Click the back button on your browser. You'll see.

Aimee wins the thread.

PalmerEldritch said...

Think we'll learn why Hugo's nickname is Hurley in this episode? Perhaps he is dubbed 'Hurley' by Cheech?

I got to work this morning to find a nice fat Barnes & Noble gift certificate on my desk, and a receipt for a reserved copy of the final Harry Potter book from my boss. And they trashed my office too.

PalmerEldritch said...

They should have gotten you a life size Desmond cut out for your office. Heck, they should throw you a party and have LOST themed party games like "Pin the Head on Jack" and whatnot.

memphish said...

Guess that's what you get when you blow off your birthday. Coconut head. LMAO.

PalmerEldritch said...

Speaking of Desmond and parties, I guess he's never getting any surprise parties from now on thanks to his super powers. Poor guy.

aimee is lost said...

Pinning the head on Jack would be an impossible and futile waste of time.

casey_donahue said...

tonights the night where we see the reunion we have all been waiting for, what ever that would be

and I think that pic is a little odd, why are jin and locke sitting? it seems like they saw the bus and a skeleton and then apparently thought that would be a cool place to hang out, they are like the goonies

ONE-EYED ALVAR!

and by locke i mean sawyer

aimee is lost said...

Why and when did everyone abandon living in the caves? What happened to natural shelter and the annoyance of carrying all that water? Did they build an aqueduct that I didn't notice?

PalmerEldritch said...

There was some throwaway line about that in Season 2. Forget what it was. Would've been great if the polar bears took over. Ruling with an iron fist.

Here's my prediction for tonight:
Tricia Tanaka dies from falling from the collapsing deck that Hurley breaks. Hurley causes it to collapse... by eating too many handfuls of Ranch Dressing.

aimee is lost said...

I wondered if the story was going to be about the balcony collapse. The promo photos looked like post-lottery winnings though, because I saw the yellow Hummer in the background. Maybe it'll cover more than one period of his life though because there's supposed to be a younger Hurley too.

Aimee...

Carlton and Damon a long while back mentioned the dropping of the caves.

Basically they said that artistically it was not good to have all the footage of the show based on an open beach...it can also be subconsciously wearing on the viewer. Certain dramatic moments need to have a closer space around them so the caves were used for a change in visual style.

Once the hatch became the focal point for such scenes, they basically did a "New Sheriff" with the caves. (I got that in :P )

I also predict that if we don't see Rose or Bernard in the next 3 or 4 eps...they would have done away with them as well.

Jimmy said...

Also...whilst talking to Aimee last night about hair, I digressed and chatted about Lost.

Here's my new prediction.

Nikki and Paulo's episode (Expos) or whatever, will establish them as "vital" people for this reason.

We will see their flashbacks, and they will all be "on Island"...maybe as far back as season 1. Unbeknown to us...someone either confides in them and gives away a HUGE reveal...or they stumble on a character doing something that creates a HUGE reveal.

Possible examples (maybe far fetched)

Nikki and Paulo go for a stroll and see Sun getting shagged by Micheal (Who's the Dad?) There must be a reason the "Glass Ballerina" was written to point out that Sun is a total bullshitter.

Paulo gets to see what happened when "Locke" looked into the "Island"...and we get to see what really happened.

Nikki gets to discover why Charlie suddenly was so keen for Claire to start shooting up with that vaccine....one of the weirdest, most unexplained Lost moments I know...

Anyway...I'm off to my favorite diner...later :)

I was thinking about what may happen this week on LOST. I also thought but Hurley in therapy and talking about how he believed he caused a dock (or deck, or something like that) to break becasue of his weight. 4 people died, right?

Then I thought back to the Sun/Jin episode where Hurley appeared on the TV screen and thought maybe the News story was about the boy who killed Tricia Tanaka now is a millionaire in the US--then got mad at myself because Tricia Tanaka is a Japanese name, and the Sun/Jin flashbacks are in Korea. Basically, I was upset because I think I'm a racist. Not all Asian people are the same :( I'm sorry Asians--ME of all people should know better.

Anyway, once I picked myself off the floor from my mental beating, I wonder who Tricia Tanaka is, I assume she's Japanese. Maybe she's a famous/important figure in the Japanese community, that's why her name is in the title.

Jimmy said...

I think you are being a little too hard on yourself there, Kimberly.

It might be one of those crazy titles where it means nothing...just a mention. Like that painting that contains a long shot of a town with about 4000 people in it, and it's called "Two Nuns".

aimee is lost said...

I totally don't remember the cave write-off. That's really stupid of me. And of them of course. Thanks for clarifying Jimmy.

I absolutely love your Pikki theory, and would not be surprised to find it to be true.

aimee is lost said...

Hey remember Starla, the record store chick? They should bring her back. Hurley needs some flashback lovin'. Especially since I read that he and his real-world girlfriend split. Or DJ Qualls, because he was even cooler.

Ya, the Cave was the Swan hatch...now it's The Hydra station.

Two sets were too expensive, as I seem to remember.
Aimee, I appreciate you posting those articles, but jees, did they dampen my mood.
Poor Jorge.
Poor Emily.
Naveen seems like a real dick. I've never liked him for some reason.
Still trying to avoid spoilers. It's getting harder and harder to resist the temptation.
This is something I've always wondered- How much has the story been altered because actors aren't available? Rose and Bernard aren't as vital to the story as Michael and Walt were, so I imagine their absence hasn't made that much of a difference. But how much was the story changed because Harold Perrineau held out for too much money?
Going in early to work tonight to relieve co-workers for a mandatory meet-and-greet with our new CEO so I don't have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to watch the show. How humiliating for employees to be forced to meet you.

Kim! Aimee!

Just wanted to say thank you for the French in the last podcast. I can't understand French or anything but it sure sounded nice. Thanks!

Enjoy tonight's Hurleylicious episode. I hope Hurley gets involved in some meaty storylines again soon. Sounds like the whole "Charlie's gunna die like a chump" storyline might be just what I was hoping for.

PalmerEldritch said...

Steph, post from work. We miss you hear at the blogspot.

PalmerEldritch said...

WTF? "Here" not "hear."

I'm turning into Jimmy with the spellcheck failures.

i'm afraid of reading all of these posts because i don't want to be overly spoiled. i'll catch up after the episode.

Thanks, Palmer. I expect to elusively evade those damn IT guys tonight and post about how much I enjoyed this episode. I desperately want to gush about how imaginative this show is again. Please don't let me down Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis.

Stephanie said...

With Aimee playing hooky from work yesterday, we didn't discuss Heroes.
Was that not THE best episode yet? Very, very touching with the father-daughter stuff. The Heroescast podcast compared it to an episode of Lost, flashbacks of the past that don't move the story along any. But personally, I have a much better understanding of what's going on- so apparent how much HRG loves his daughter and wants to protect her.

Mike Campbell said...

Aimee thats an amazing Gift. I can't wait for the last H to the P. are you caught up yet?

This one should be a good one. Today is also good because THE RED SOX HAVE THEIR FIRST PRE-SEASON GAME. Baseball is back!!!

I am sorry. I love baseball so much and i am pumped for its return.

Aimee,

Hope the bad weather they are predicting in this part of the world doesn't knock out your LOST viewing. Latest word in Memph-o is it won't hit until after midnight, but I'm sure we'll be doppler-ing all night. Nothing like watching LOST with a radar screen in the corner. Steph, hope it doesn't hit you too. The weather service basically says the whole southeast is potentially in for a doozy. How frickin' precise of them.

Andrew,

No Generally Speaking man-thong?!

PalmerEldritch said...

Steph,

HEROES was great. Mr. Bennett is the man and so is the Haitian. And what was up with Sulu?! That blew my mind. And Claude and HRG?! Fantastic.

aimee is lost said...

Mike, I read all the Harry Potters in the span of about a week and a half, so I'll be at the midnight opening of B & N to pick up my copy of #7... I know, I'm a loser. Deal with it. I used some of the g.c. today to get a copy of Slaughterhouse Five, just to please you, and to give me one more excuse to not read Infinite Jest for a while longer.

I'll go put up the post-episode thread since Ralph is holed up in L.A. this week.

casey_donahue said...

mike, I know exactly how you feel, I feel we have the best team in the league this season, and there is a possibility of the rocket coming back because of it.

Why did Sulu let Hiro go if he knew he has powers?

Anonymous said...

I agree about Heroes Palmer. Especially after the last three episodes I'm looking forward to Mondays more than Wednesdays. It has that "holy crap!" feel that lost had in the first season.

PalmerEldritch said...

I imagine either that a) he doesn't believe Hiro, B) as long as he pretends not to believe Hiro, he doesn't have to turn him in, or C) he's so high up the food chain that he's subject to different rules than Mr. Bennett.

I hope that Claude sticks around for a while. Do we know if Mr. Bennett shot him in the same place that Bennett got shot?

Despite my enthusiasm for HEROES, I am getting uber psyched for a new episode of LOST. Hurleyriffic!

Anonymous said...

Well, this was a really "fun" episode. Maybe not quite as much fun as Ralph and Ben had hoped with their Magic Mystery Machine, and Tango & Cash comparisons. But a very good time nonetheless.

Sawyer was a little out of control with all the nicknames he threw around this episode.

And what the hell does Kate want Sawyer to say he's sorry for? Just because he called her out on the pity fuck?

And what's up with the plans for the island road system that they found right near the VW bus?

Hopefully these and more questions will be answered next season on LOST...
