With all that C4 it could very well happen.

Desmond's hair looks funny :P

Hair and milk pitchers. This is what makes this place special.

Did anyone else have a grin of satisfaction when Ben shot Widmore?

Good grief yes Kelly Jo. And thank you for the death of dirty Tina Fey Lost gods.

How badass is that scene?! Oh man, Ben is full on sick and tired of this shit!! So is Locke!!

It's gonna be a showdown of epic proportions!

Ralph- said...

The thing i don't understand is why Desmond goes after Ben if he wasn't on the manifest, unless he has become more aware of the island than we know.

My favorite scene is on the docks with The A-Team!!

Kelly Jo said...

Wow I actually really like Jack in this episode.

JoeSC said...

I have to say, as awesome as everyone else has been in this episode, Emerson KILLED it!

I was pretty shocked Ben killed him, but I jumped for joy when he asked who else there was to kill.

I really missed the old Ben Linus!

t-dot kim said...

You guys are seriously telling me you DON'T see the religious undertones in the past 2 episodes?!!

Kelly Jo said...

I see them I just don't really mind them.

JoeSC said...

Ralph - you didn't disappoint. Fantastic episode!

I figured we'd see Ana Lucia again, but I did NOT expect to see Danielle back.

Off-island Desmond is a pimp and a half!

Ralph- said...

I see that Desmond is awesome and i CANNOT wait until we see "the concert", which i guess is in FIVE DAYS!! AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

JoeSC said...

I'm with you Kim. I totally pick up on them, but I don't really focus on them too much. It's nice to know, but those references don't excite me near as much as literary, film, etc.

t-dot kim said...

They're minor--I just thought I was the only one that noticed them.

I thought that it was a good solid episode. GOOOOOOD STUFF

JoeSC said...

Did I mention that Ben Linus is a cold-blooded motherfucker?

Thank you LOST writers for giving the man his balls back!

PalmerEldritch said...

wait... they have The Bible in Canada?!

funzo episode. Desmond is the man in both universes.

cant wait for Ben to die horribly. but he'll probably be double crossing ol' Smokey.

hope we get Penny and Juliet in the finale... ALL NIGHT LONG.

Desmond prolly beat the crap outta Ben after seeing him in his "visions" of the other side or Hurley having seen him in one. or something.

is Jack gunna skip his son's recital to get his hands on Locke's dural sack? what an alterna-douche. cuz i wanna see who the ex Mrs Jack is.

i liked the episode a bunch. liked everyone shooting and beating the shit out of each other.

Morgan said...

AMAZING EPISODE!!! Ana Lucia, Danielle, dead Zoe & Widmore... I loved Hurley saying hi to Ana and she didn't know him. I liked the explanation for Kate's name being crossed-off. Cannot wait for the concert! Juliet's gotta be David's mom, bump into Sawyer and go have coffee. But for the 815ers on the island...I've gotta bad feeling about this. Oh, and Desmond IS a fail-safe!

PalmerEldritch said...

basketball + lost

also, is Alterna-Ben gunna tap that or what? Rousseau-a-go-go!

DenAss said...

I hope that some of the 815ers that are left do survive.

Of course there is still the issue of how the two dimensions / timelines will be reconciled. Maybe Sun and Jin will end up surviving. But I certainly don't think this is going to end "Happily ever after" for all involved.

I thought this episode was really well done. And doesn't it just "feel" different watching now? Knowing that things are finally reaching a conclusion?

For me, it's a whole new experience when I'm watching. Almost like I have to pinch myself to know I'm not dreaming. Not literally, but that was the closest figure of speech I could come up with.

JoeSC said...

I really liked Jacob's explanation about Kate, the replacement, etc. I really gave a little more importance to some of last week's episode.

So, can Jacob appear as himself at any age? Is that one of the benefits to being a ghost, or is Jacob just special?

That seems like it would be a pretty badass superpower if he wasn't dead.

DenAss said...

Palmer, I almost forgot about off island Linus. He'll totally end up with Mama Rousseau, and if they're lucky maybe another rabbit will die.

Jeez, I'm dating myself with that comment.

t-dot kim said...

So...does this mean Hurley is like Desmond? Aware of the 2 worlds?

JoeSC said...

I think that's what we're supposed to assume Kim. That must have been one hell of a seaside makeout session!

t-dot kim said...

BTW, Foxy still has "it". IMHO.

PalmerEldritch said...

so, have we made up with LOST now?

DenAss said...

Kim - I agree.

Also, I saw him on Letterman last night. Dave asked him what he could tell us about Lost. Fox just replied, "Nothing". Followed by an uncomfortable bit of dead air. Then Fox proceeded to do a card trick and not talk about anything that anyone wanted to hear.

Why not just wait until next week when he can speek freely?

Stephanie said...

I'm so excited. Lost almost made me cry! The scene where Jacob was talking to Hurley, Jack, Kate, and Sawyer around the fire was very special. All I could think is this is the culmination of 6 years. This is finally it. And it was great. Jack is finally the man of faith he needed to be for The Island. It's coming together. Finally!

Alirio said...

This episode was AWESOME! Made me feel worse about last week's sack of shit episode.

We don't need Across the Sea to understand ANYTHING that happened tonight.

At least Niki & Paolo were hot!

Sunday will be awesome.

Oh and Palmer, we DO have Bibles in Canada... unfortunately...

Great episode, although I will be disappointed if that's how they chose to kill off Richard. Besides I thought that Jacob made it to where he couldn't die?

Kyle from Kentucky said...

why no love for dead Richard blogspot?

PalmerEldritch said...

eh, i figure Richard will be OK.

now, are Miles and Desmond hanging out in the woods somewhere? will they meet up with Ricardus?

JoeSC said...

I totally forgot about Alpert!

I guess it's because it happened so quick and I really didn't think they would take him out like that.

There's gotta be more for Senor Ricardus.

Ralph- said...

Did anyone else notice that Jacob was talking to the four people from the end of season two that were on "Jacob's List" on the pier at gunpoint? Maybe Ben did get the list from Jacob. Maybe Ben has been on the right side this whole time.

Giacchino rocks!! Playing the main theme from the pilot at the beginning of this episode was really powerful. By the way, i am only 10 minutes in. So great being able to chat when it is fresh.

LOST IS BACK! but not for long.

Brad said...

I sooo want Richard to show up all covered in black soot and ash like daffy duck after an explosion.

Brad said...

also it could have been the bottle of wine I consumed but I got a lil' bleary eyed for poor doc linus at Rousseau's place.

andrew. said...

bad news guys, i heard LOST got cancelled!

Jordan said...

That's more like it. Back to Lost being good again. Yay.

But I didn't quite have the over the top reaction some of y'all seem to have. I'm guessing it's the residual after-affect of following up after last week. Remind me if I ever have to cook any of you dinner, to have someone serve you a shit sandwhich for lunch prior to. ;)

Naw, it was still good. See what happens when the focus goes back to the characters? I just wish I got more of whatever the hell Desmond has planned. Because the scene with Ana Lucia letting them go and Hurley showing up was patented end of the season, things ramping up LOST.

I will say I was kinda 'eh' when Jacob was giving his spiel about his past with his brother. Just reminded me how stupid last week was. And how I really wish that whole story line were erased from the overall narrative. I'd MUCH rather Jacob just appear and be vague about everything. Because the back story that they showed us last week, besides being stupid and silly, just really doesn't vibe with the story they're tyring to tell us now. Jacob is this good guy with an evil brother and need the Losties to help stop him. Where as the flashback made it seem a lot more sympathetic towards Smokey. Anyways, I'm digressing. Enough about that nonsense. This episode was much better.

One question. So is Jack now immortal/special? If they are somehow able to kill Smokey what happens to him? Is he stuck on the island forever? Can he never go back home? Hopefully before everyone else leaves, they leave him a volleyball.

Can't wait for Sunday!

Jordan said...

And I too figured Alpert would be ok. The dude is supposedly immortal, right? He's gonna show up in the finale. I can almost bet on it.

Also, like someone here said. Juliet just has to be Jack's wife. If she hasn't shown up so far, what other possibilities are there?

And one pet peeve that I've had for a while now. Everyone referring to the smoke monster as 'Locke'. Kate said at the beginning of the episode, 'Locke killed them. He needs to die.' And later on Widmore referred to him as Locke as well. Everyone knows that's not John Locke & that Locke is dead. I can see them doing it a couple times out of habit after they discovered that was the smoke monster & not Locke. But still? It just feels weird knowing that they know whats up. At least call him evil Locke or something.

Jordan said...

Didn't even think of that, LeeO. Now Across the Sea makes total sense!

andrew. said...

- That. that's what i'm talking'bout Arnold.

- honest question: did they explain what Zooey & Widmore were doing rummaging through Ben's cookware?

- Terry O'Quinn was o'some in this episode

- glad we got the replacement stuff out of the way. do you think any of the other Losties wanted the job before mr. 'god-complex' jumped in there? i was kinda hoping it would come down to a good old game of '1-2-3- Not It!'

- fun seeing Rousseau again, though i'm glad they cut away when they did.

- Widmore's story sucked.

- Why do we think Desmond called Jack, telling him that Oceanic Airlines found his dad's body?

- We got confirmation in the photograph on Doctor Jack's desk that Photoshop exists in the alt-universe.

- who are we hoping to see at the big concert? Is the concert David's recital or Farraday Overdrive Shaft?

Kyle from Kentucky said...

I have a question.

What's Claire doing on Hydra? Waiting for a helicopter to rescue her and Aaron?!?!?!?!?!?! na. it would be wonderful though.

Kyle from Kentucky said...

^ Jordan.

I know right. Its so annoying that they keep calling it Locke. WE HAVE TO KILL LOCKE. Well he's 6 ft under there Kate. Kate = fail.

Kyle from Kentucky said...

You know what I just realized.

The last time we ever get a Mr. Eko reference on the show will be - "Checkmate Mr. Eko"

Kyletears

Kyle from Kentucky said...

My biggest question after this episode is - What is the significance of the flash sideways.

Concert. Ok. Finale better be 95% island and 5% flash sideways.

Jordan said...

It's just that calling him Locke seems so callous. It's like they are talking about John Locke being a huge dick. And how much they hate him. Yet they know it's not Locke. If it were all of us on the island and Palmer died and was being impersonated by the smoke monster. I highly doubt we'd keep going on about how much Palmer sucks and how Palmer needs to die. And really, why is Widmore calling him Locke? Widmore has more history with Smokey than he does Locke.

Kyle from Kentucky said...

Kate Austen
Jack Shephard
Hugo Reyes
James Ford

The list and the fact that they were sitting around the campfire is awesome.

You know what else is awesome? - the Mr. Eko shoutout through the Zoe death.

I'm so excited about this. Benjamin Linus being a bad guy just feels right. The I'll have you crap is a big part of the disdain I had for this season. Those damned writers know just how to pull me in.

memphish said...

So what the heck was this stuff that Widmore brought? Does it matter? Is Fake Locke going to use it to sink the Island? If he sinks the Island does that create 2004 X world?

I think yesterday I was more sad for the ending of TLI than actually for the end of Lost.

Anonymous said...

Is it just me or is Claire's hair all jacked up in the sideways world too?

Who else was hoping Des would run over Locke again? Maybe Ben was after Desmond beat the crap out of him.

My first Lost Haiku:

James Sawyer is sad,
He's missing Sun and Jin.
Sayid and Frank who?

Jordan said...

I'm sad for it all to end too, Steph.

I'm curious what is going to happen to this place. How many of you guys think you'd still come on a daily basis or close to? I know there are certain people who only come here to discuss Lost who wouldn't. But I'd like to think that this silly little place has grown bigger than Lost over the years. I myself enjoy coming here just as much when there isn't new Lost as when there is. Although it's always fun to nerd out about time travel theories.

Kyle from Kentucky said...

I'm a little bit annoyed that the DVDs have 20 mins of extra THE End footage. I mean I'm going to buy the DVDs no matter what. Just make the damn finale 3 hours if you have to.

JoeSC said...

Jordan - I don't think Jack is immortal now. In fact, I was thinking about Hurley when he said "I'm glad it wasn't me." That line seemed way to deliberate to just stick in there. I think when all is said and done, Hurley will occupy the role that Jack was just given last night.

I've been hearing a lot of people today speculating that Richard actually did die last night. I really, really hope that's not the case. If so, that's some seriously weak sauce!

Whatever happened to Ben and Widmore not being able to kill each other? Were those "rules" negated when Jacob died (because they were his rules)? It's not that big of a deal, but something that's really been bugging me today for some reason.

Thanks for the awesome links Steph! I agree with you. I think I'm actually gonna miss TLI more than LOST itself. The old episodes are queued up and ready to roll when I finally make some time to rewatch the series later on.

Holli - I haven't watched V since it came back from hiatus. I really don't have much motivation to either.

Anybody gonna check out "The Good Guys" premier on FOX tonight? I have a feeling it's either gonna be really good or really, really bad!

/waiting patiently for new Dharmalars

PalmerEldritch said...

i think the "rules" went out the window for Ben when Keamy killed Alex.

Jordan said...

Ok, now I'm getting sad. This video reminded me what we are exactly losing.

All the people who died.

Try not smiling while watching. Bet you can't.

Stephanie said...

The Good Guys looked stupid to me til I found out the mustached guy is Bradley Whitford. On top of that, it's created by the Burn Notice guy. Sure to be fun.

JoeSC said...

F'n awesome video Jordan! That might become one of my all time favorites.

Stephanie said...

I could have swore I posted something here a couple of hours ago about the mustached dude in The Good Guys being Bradley Whitford and looking forward to watching it once realizing that. Anyways, the pilot was hilarious which makes me worry after Human Target had such a strong pilot but failed to wow me afterward.

completely off topic but this site collects a lot of work by a lot of may absolute favorite comic book creators.

this isn't Marvel/DC stuff. It's independent self-published comics.

I think what got me about the Richard Attack was how bloody stupid it looked with him pinging away offscreen followed by Ben's non-reaction.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPH!!!

t-minus 7 hrs. and I am on the plane to Vegas!

Haven't given my thoughts about "What They Died For" but suffice to say - I liked it. Although - since it was the penultimate episode, the end result it had on me was a little unsatisfied, mainly because I am now REALLY impatient for Sunday.
- I want to know that they did not off Richard like that - that sucked. Was not a satisfying OMG moment or anything for me.
- I want resolution to Ben - I appreciate that some like Kyle are all about Ben going to the dark side, and I wouldn't be totally against it, but I was one who was really moved by the "No one will have me" speech, and the end to that ep was easily one of the most emotional of the season for me. So, I do have hope that Ben ends up doing something heroic.
- Obviously Desmond is the link between realities so I'm anxious to see his endgame
- want to see Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Hurley take some ACTION. I enjoyed the scene around the fire - very poignant, but am really anxious for MiB to start really taking some blows (not necessarily hand to hand combat - I just want to see what they're going to do to him).

I know its a little silly for me to list these things out - it's not like I'm requesting for Cuselof to 'hurry things up' - it's all finishing Sunday. I'm really just sharing how keyed-up I am for "The End"

Also, since I seem to be one of only a small few here who is willing to defend "Across the Sea" I will say that my enjoyment of "What They Died For" was enhanced by the knowledge I got from ATS. I'll say no more b/c we've discussed it to death and obviously we're all going to agree to disagree.

LOST changed my life :)
