Looking forward to this.

Ah...to be on the west coast...an hour behind everyone but Hawaii. 5+ hours to go...

Isaac said...

it's 7:55 here in Canada and it's on in about an hour. Really looking forward to this episode I feel it's gonna reveal quite a bit and finally make the pissy fans happy.

Woohoo Sayid!! My number 3 Hot Guy!

Anonymous said...

We get a new Dharma station/hatch/whatever - definitely looking forward to that!

Isaac said...

scratch that i just found one on at 8:00p.m. gotta go

Anonymous said...

I am also looking forward to seeing Sayid and Kate possibly kick some ass together - the picture on the front web page looks good.

Ralph- said...

i was just about to post this...

So are we gonna start Sayid's flashback where we left off on the side of the desert road?

should be an interesting episode.

Anonymous said...

Isaac,
wow - that's a particualarly cruel psych-out - tune in for Lost, but get A.I.. Ouch man, sorry

P.S. apologies to any A.I. fans

YeeHaa Lost

isaac is now MennoMan

aimee is lost said...

Mike, Slaughterhouse Five is really good! Do you remember what happened when Billy first became unstuck in time?

I really hope that in tonight's episode, we don't "meet" the eyepatch dude farmer only to have him killed before finding out who he is or what he's doing. I don't want a repeat of the Ethan killing. If the writers want to continue staying on our good side (and right now, I consider them to be on our good side because season 3 is doing REALLY well) they'll at least have Eyepatch Dude tell us some kind of story prior to him disappearing into the jungle or being killed.

aimee is lost said...

Nothing seems to piss us off more than to have someone really valuable be eliminated, running away, etc before serving their purpose, i.e. Ethan, Desmond, Karl, etc.

Anonymous said...

I really think that he's gonna reveal some things to us then die.

memphish said...

Yeah! Kate with a gun! Hope she actually hits something this time. So far her shooting hasn't been so hot.

Back to the last thread -- in addition to Kim's Carlton Dance we should have someone doing a skank dance.

Stephanie said...

Rousau's been on this island for 16 years and she's never come across any of these people? Kinda hard to believe.
Top Model, anyone?

Stephanie said...

Does this make any sense? I like the character of Sayid but not Naveen Andrews.

aimee is lost said...

Yeah, I haven't seen anything else of Andrews that I enjoyed, much less considered him "hot" in. I really am looking forward to Grind House next month though!

Anonymous said...

I loved it. Lots of action. lots of answers and Sayid was kickin some major ass.

Anonymous said...

yeah i'm really starting to believe that Danielle is lying. it's kinda fishy that she didn't want to go into the Flame for some reason, and just the way that she and Patchy were looking at each other

PalmerEldritch said...

Wow. Way to go Paolo.

You have now achieved iconic status. You are now LOST's official "guy who has to take a shit." Every time we see Rodrigo, he has to take a shit. First in the Pearl Station and now on the beach when Sawyer wants his 'Guns & Ammo' magazine. Congrats, Mister "Guy Who Has to Take a Shit." Bravo!

Mike Campbell said...

and who said that semester of german wouldn't pay off...

Great Episode i thought. Could see the enter 77 a mile away but still good stuff.

Aimee i don't remember what the first unstuck was. please remind me. Also if you like this you should read some more books by him. he is my favorite author

Mike Campbell said...

"Zorro" "B who the hell are you" Sawyer was in top form. I think those are the two best i have heard in awhile. We should have thought up Zorro/

Stephanie said...

I give it an 8 out of 10. Would have scored it higher if it wasn't for the predictability that Mike just mentioned. Mrs Klugh was a surprise. Can't wait to see the screencaps of the papers. I need to rewatch in the morning to get all the subtle things.

Stephanie said...

Poor Rodrigo Santoro and Kiele Sanchez. This has to be a huge blow to their egos.

Mike Campbell said...

Steph my friend took russian for a year and a half. I told him to watch it online tomorrow. I am sure someone else will have figured it out by then but whatever. Was patching writting a tell all book.

Why did Tom quote Alvar to "The Hunting Party" if they killed all the dharma people? Did the ravege, or whatever they called it, then read up on who they killed and decided they were good people. This show makes my head hurt. I love it!!!

Anonymous said...

Sayid is the shit! He's so fuckin' bad ass. Round house kick to the face after being shot in the arm. Bad. Ass. I just love the way he thinks (or maybe I love the way he's been trained to think)

I was on the floor when Paulo said "Hillbilly", and when Sawyer said "Who the hell are you?" Did anyone else notice this episode was written by Cuselof?

Steph - Top Model, I like Jael and the one that's a photographer. The Latina girl looks like a man in real life but her photos are "fierce". lol. Most of the girls this cycle are Space Cadets.

Mike Campbell said...

Next Time They Find a Hatch...

Locke - oohh a hatch
Sayid - No Locke. No Hatch. No Computers. You guard the Outside.
Locke - Awe Sayid there is no way i can destory a third hatch.

Stephanie said...

Kimberley,I like Jael but, like Twiggy, strain to understand her. Not spokes-model material. The latina doesn't have a unique look but she does take fierce pictures. You know how Tyra does likes fierce. The blonde from Hawaii is beautiful but she has got to go. Obnoxious. Dione is good. She's from Bama. This group seems more advanced than previous at this stage. Tyra hasn't even cut all their hair off yet. But back to Lost talk.
What about the sores on Patchy's face?

memphish said...

Could those sores be like Michael's at the end of last season? He had that thing on his face that grew and grew.

PalmerEldritch said...

Not sure what's up with his sores... but Kim and Steph can rest easy that because of those very sores, Patchy will NOT win Next Top Model. :(

Kim, don't you get Canada's Next Top Model with the ever foxy Tricia Helfer? Do you watch Canada's and America's? Isn't that just too many new top models?

memphish said...

That was a great episode and you are talking about Next Top Model -- shame on you!

Anonymous said...

ha ha. i thought we were supposed to get season 1 Locke back this year. this guy is Mr. Magoo.

andrew.

memphish said...

Yeah, Locke wishes he were Mr. Clean now.

Malcolm in RVA said...

locke was dumb in this one. i have a feeling that the new hunting party and their jolly prisoner's storyline will be great these next few weeks.

Anonymous said...

Lost is amazing! Thanks to Jimmy, I totally could hear parts of Sayid's Theme...or what I believe to be Sayid's theme. (The single piano notes...like, bongggg, bongggg) LOL, it's hard to discribe over the blogspot. But I think I've heard it before in the episode when Sayid was torturing Ben/Henry.

I want to break Locke's fingers.

~K

PS> I sadly watch both Top Models...FYI Heilfer was fired!!! Now Jay is the new Canadian host (Not Miss Jay, but Jay Manuel--he's from Toronto.) I have a funny Top Model story that I'll save for the podcast--sorry Holli, we'll stick to LOST now)

PalmerEldritch said...

Kim!!! Tricia got the boot?! You've broken my poor little internet heart. :(

casey_donahue said...

i think marvin candle might have said something before it blew up that we didnt see and locke is holding back

Ralph- said...

So, next week is a claire episode *just assuming* and i am guessing that we find out that...

********SPOILER*********
Jack is her half brother
*******END SPOILER******

cause based on the promo, that is pretty much what they flat out told me! Also that thing sticking out of the ground in the promo, is that where the black smoke comes from???

Liked the episode, need to watch it again. Danielle is totally in Ca-Hoots with the "hostiles"

see you in the morning

Anonymous said...

Just finished watching the episode - good one. I have to echo Kim - Sayid IS a badass. Holds a calm lucid conversation while having minor surgery - damn!

And I just F*cking KNEW Locke was going to f*ck it up with that f*cking computer! That look Sayid gave him at the end made me laugh because it looked like (with Sayid accent) "John...I am about to kill you and let this Dharma man live"

Question to the frame-by-framers out there - did anyone with HD catch if that was a picture hanging to the left of the doorway (into the 'living room area'). I'm just watching non-HD TV but it kinda looked like a map of some sort. You can see it for a couple seconds as they bring Sayid in (after being shot), and you can see it hanging on the wall over Mikhail's shoulder while he was prepping to sew up Sayid (He's talking about being dismissed from the Russian army and seeing the ad for the Dharma initiative). It kinda looked like a map showing some ocean and several landmasses or something? I'm really not sure - just curious.

Anonymous said...

Also,
Do we now think that Ben & Co. are Dharma, part of "the Hostiles" or neither?

Stephanie said...

Here's the dialogue between Klugh and Mikhail.
http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/2007/03/dialogue-in-russian.html
And the letter translated.
http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/2007/03/russian-letter.html

Stephanie said...

I've always, and still do,think The Others are The Hostiles.
Somebody needs to write a letter to ABC complaining about the promos. It's getting a little ridiculous.

Stephanie said...

MB, Mikhail WAS in the Russian army and hasn't been on the island all his life, right? Of that, we're certain. Who was he recruited by?

Mike Campbell said...

i like the ridiculous promos. We don't want good promos we want silly ones. But Ralph is right about that spoiler, he has to be. Lost has many surprises but everyone has figured that one out. unless they throw a curveball which would be badass.

Oh i found an out for the writters with Nikki and Paolo. In the next desmond flashback we will learn that he has acidently changed some things to the island, IE he was wearing clothes but now he isn't and he added Nikki paolo. They think they were there the whole time but they weren't. They are a figment of desmond's imagination.

Stephanie said...

Mike, I like it. Think of the money Lost is wasting on those two.
When I said ridiculous, I meant ridiculously obvious. I believe I said this before, but the promo people need to take lessons from NBC. Heroes promos work really well in the way they reveal and mislead.

aimee is lost said...

Oh my gosh, I need to learn how to stay up late enough to comment on the blogspot after Lost is on...waiting until the next morning just isn't cutting it...look at this blog explosion!!

Wow, where to begin?? Holy crap, Sayid kicked ass as expected. I don't think anyone could take a shot in the arm quite like him (well, maybe Sawyer, because he DID dig out the bullet with his own hand..he don't need no stinkin' Russian...)

Fucking Locke! What the hell is wrong with that man? He's like a fucking child in a freaking candy store or something! He needs to be on one of those tethered leashes that you see toddlers in shopping malls attached to. I felt like slapping his hand anytime he got close to touching something, and sure enough, he fucked it all up. At least his curiosity didn't kill Sayid's cat. (Okay, that was a lame joke.)

Thank you Sawyer for the "who the hell are you?" and "Zorro" lines about Paulo. You are the man.

Mike, when Billy first became unstuck in time, "there was just violet light - and a hum."

Mike Campbell said...

i'm pretty sure in the final episode of this show Dharma or the Hostals are going to send Locke a bill for all the shit he has messed up. And who is going to bill him for Boone's life??

aimee is lost said...

I think eventually people are going to get sick of his antics that they're just going to break his legs so he can't walk. Or touch things.

aimee is lost said...

Maybe THAT's how Pikki becomes iconic characters!

Mike Campbell said...

I loved when Locke looked like a deer in head lights and sayid vocally bitch slapped him. Locke was stupid because Patchy told Locke he couldn't do something. So therefor Locke had to prove everyone wrong. Its his problem and we have to live with it. Locke did get them there so i guess its ok for him to blow something up. Lost needed to fill its explosion quota anyway.

Mike Campbell said...

i am excited that i'm in a classroom with a computer. so today i won't miss all the SaSing on the blog.

PalmerEldritch said...

Aimee, if they broke Locke's legs to keep him out of trouble then he'd be all healed up in three or four days. Damn magical healing properties of the Island!

aimee is lost said...

Do we know that the island still has its mojo? What if the purge of electromagnetic junk from the implosion and the violet sky crap dissolved the healing powers?

Wait, I don't want to know. We would have to have another Rose flashback in order to find something like that out. They would have to title it S.H.I.T. Bite your tongue Aimee.

PalmerEldritch said...

The Island still has it's mojo. Think Sayid's going to still have his gaping bullet wound by season's end? No.

Anonymous said...

ok great episode, but who thinks locke lost the use of his legs because he was messing with something?

Mike Campbell said...

cal that is a very good idea. but if he lost the use of something that big i would have hoped he would stop messing with things. I hope one day he will figure out he shouldn't touch anything.

memphish said...

In a quick re-watching, Kate should have drugged that tea (hey, she's got experience) and made Locke drink it.

I'm pretty sure at this point that Locke lost the use of his legs by doing something stupid with a computer like clicking a button that says "If you click me, you will never walk again." It's like challenging the kid to stick his tongue on the flagp pole in A Chritmas Story.

memphish said...

I'm chatting about this elsewhere but I want some SAS opinions. When Sayid "confesses" to the Iraqi woman in Paris is he telling the truth that he did torture her or was he telling her what she wanted to hear?

PalmerEldritch said...

To paraphrase 'The Dick Van Dyke Show,' the reason that Locke's judgment is so clouded is that "his hair didn't fall out, it fell in."

Stephanie said...

Holli, Sayid had me convinced he didn't torture her...
She was very sure she had the right guy.
I don't know. Maybe it's one of those things left up to the viewer to decide for themselves. Or maybe Lindeluse will address it on the next podcast.
You know, it's pretty ridiculous that the Official Dorks have to come out after almost each episode and clarify things to the audience.
After mulling it over in my head, I think he felt sorry for her and he told her what she wanted to know. Because after all, he is a torturer with a heart.

Stephanie said...

I said know but I meant hear.

memphish said...

The funny thing is Steph that on the other blog I'm chatting on almost all the women think he lied to her and almost all the men think he was telling the truth. I guess applying our recent podcast logic, since this episode was written by 2 men, he was telling the truth.

aimee is lost said...

As I was watching that, I thought he was going to convince her she was mistaken, I didn't think he would actually confess.

I feel compelled to believe he actually did torture her, but I'm not sure I understand why I feel this way yet. Part of it is because it was so odd to see him crack that it just HAS to be real. The other part is just because I want to be different. And yet another part is because they were all different in their past lives, so its believable that yes, he was the type of person who would have tortured a woman.

Mike Campbell said...

aimee i think he did it too. i dont think he said that to get out of it. I can't explain why either.

PalmerEldritch said...

Maybe he just thought that he could put enough doubt into her mind that she would relent as she wouldn't want to punish someone when she wasn't 100% sure. But his gamble didn't work and he admitted it.

So, count me in as Sayid tortured her. But it's not Sayid's fault, he was forced to do horrible things to survive.

And Sayid kind of looks like a koala.

PalmerEldritch said...

Hey, Kim. Did you say in the podcast that Hurley said "Dude" eight times last week? 8 times?!

"The numbers are bad!"

Ralph- said...

I knew that Sayid was going to confess. I think that Sayid did NOT torture that woman, but i think that by him being put in that situation, he now saw what he was putting all his victims through, you know seeing it from their perspecitve.

i think when he says that her face haunts him every day, he means that her face now represents all the faces from his past, kind of like the Ghostrider's Penance Stare.

He may not have tortured her, but he knows that she would have been no different than the people that did torture her. He knew that what he did in his past was wrong and what was done to her was wrong.

I am kind of tired of these "Power Animals". The Black Horse, The Boar and now the Cat. Remember that story that Locke told, way back in "White Rabbit", about how his mom thought a dog was her dead daughter or whatever? Well i tend to take Locke's side of the story and say, it is just a coincidence.

Great music as usual. I noticed a cue that sounded familiar, during the scene where Kate and Sayid were poking around the "Flame" upstairs area. I also noticed that theme that Jimmy thought was Desmond's at first and Hurley's last week. Now that it has popped up in a Sayid episode, i dont know what to think of it. there has to be somthing going on each time it is used that ties that theme together. i will check it out today when i take my notes.

Lcoke is like Chewbacca on Endor!

Great Episode.

PalmerEldritch said...

Ralph, Locke is Chewbacca after a good shave?

Stephanie said...

Shit! I just called in to TLI.

Purge. That's such a strange word to use. Could this be the incedent?

Anonymous said...

- i think Sayid was telling the truth. He had lied throughout the questioning, only caving on things when he knew he was beaten. He lied about his name. He lied about being an interogator. Also the fact that the woman picked his face out of a crowd is pretty convincing. Anybody see "Marathon Man"?

- One of my favorite things about the episode was Kate's "Oh No You Didn't" face whenever they cut to her during Mikhail's story because Sayid had already clued her in.

- Was Mikhail fucking with Sayid by calling the cat "Nadia"? The Others have shown that they might know a lot of personal details about all of the survivors. Is the cat the smoke monster manifesting itself again? If not, Kate's horse now has a logical source.

andrew.

Anonymous said...

Going back through the posts since last night...

Steph - good question about Mikhail. Who did recruit him? Or maybe his whole story IS one big fucking lie and he lied when he told Sayid he moved in after "the Purge". The Others are really good at lying. Good people, good people.

Mike - LOVE the Nikki and Paulo idea - that Desmond has the power to alter reality and they've been 'inserted'. What else would he be able to change (if he can control it)?

RE: Sayid's torture confession. I believe he did torture her and maybe even blocked it mentally until facing her one-on-one, without the threat of force, he broke down. Sayid hasn't displayed a knack for sobbing on command like that before has he (maybe I'm forgetting something)? I just have a feeling that this is one of those times where things ARE as they seem. It would actually be cool if we found out that he CAN lie that well and the water-works were all an act - yet another aspect to his character to explore.

Anonymous said...

One thought -
Why would THIS station have all the livestock (for food - like the meat in the freezer). Why not just get food-drops like the Swan?

aimee is lost said...

Maybe they did get food drops also, but raised the livestock to provide meat for everyone on the island. I don't remember seeing any cows or ground beef on that pallet.

Speaking of the livestock, LOCKE blew up the livestock!

Who wants their steak well done?

memphish said...

So Sayid is the new Jack. Mr. Rational to Locke's Mr. Faith, crying on command when a woman with a cat accuses you of torture, and being over-protective of Kate if the previews are to be believed.

Ralph, Did you skip the "Previously on LOST" so you wouldn't guess that Mrs. Klugh was there?

Holli

aimee is lost said...

Holli was post 77.

I wondered myself what the purpose of the Pala Ferry scene was during the 'previously on Lost' segment. For some reason I was focused more on Hurley, and didn't think of Ms. Klugh until she appeared in the Flame.

Jimmy said...

Ralph...

Yes..the musical themes are being thrown about. Maybe not as centric as thought. I have a bit to say about this...tonight I will begin.

I also totally agree and was going to write as such, that Sayid's "Your face haunts me every day since Iraq" is a metaphor for "all Iragi's" etc.

I hate Sawyer on the Beach. I can guarantee that we get 4 more episodes of Sawyer comic relief. Who can outwit him this week? Will he sit on dogshit to everyone else's amusement? Will there be an Island egg and Spoon race which Sawyer will cheat in, only to be foiled? It just reminds me of a 4 episode stretch near the end of season 2.

Paulo cannot even insult someone with decent inflection! Wooden!

I speak "holiday Russian" and think I caught a lot of "Don't do it's", No, I can't do that!", "You have to do it? type of shouting, but have no cable so cannot replay. Will see tonight after I download. Someone will have translated it anyway...I may even be wrong so long it has been.

I'll jst add, that as a guy, it would be very hard fro me to suddenly turn to Nikki after 3 months on the Island and say "And who are you?". but you all know how I feel about this subject :)

Good ep...lots to talk about.

Oh God...was it because I wasn't totally sober, or was the horse totally fake?

PalmerEldritch said...

I hate Sawyer-on-the-Beach's girly hair. Ack!

memphish said...

Palmer, I'm with you on the hair thing. Too bad barber Kate is off looking for Jack. Maybe the excitement at the beach next week will not be a spoon and egg race as Jimmy suggests, but that Claire will cut Sawyer's hair leading to a jealous Charlie. Imagine that, a jealous Charlie. Almost as odd as a stupid Locke.

aimee is lost said...

Steph posted a link to the Russian translation, but since Jimmy is too lazy to visit the link, I'll post it for him:

Klugh: Mikhail! You know what to do.
Mikhail: We still have another way.
Klugh: We cannot risk. You know what to do.
Mikhail: We still have another way.
Klugh: We cannot risk. You know the conditions.
Mikhail: We have another way.
Klugh: They know us. We will not let them [unintelligible]. You know what to do. It is an order.
Mikhail: But we still have another way! (pause) I'm sorry! (shoots)

BANGSKI!

PalmerEldritch said...

So, apparently the Others/Hostiles attack the DHARMA Initiative and then took over their "Downtown" area with the houses and whatnot. Where did they live before that?

Anonymous said...

Soda Popski!

andrew.

Ralph- said...

Jimmy, which horse are you talking about?

aimee is lost said...

Did anyone else get that commercial for [some product I can't remember] that played the song "Downtown" during Lost last night? That was awesome.

Anonymous said...

damn it. i meant
Soda Popinksi!

Aimee, i got that 'Downtown' commercial too. I noted the lost reference, but it also seemed like every commercial was a dumb cover version of an old pop song. Like the cover of Modern English's "Melt With You"

andrew.

Stephanie said...

Visa was the commercial.

Jimmy said...

The horse tied up outside the farm...the stuffed one!

They only showed from a distance, and with fast camera pans.

Stephanie said...

See, for the money they're paying the Brazilian Tom Cruise, they could have gotten a real horse.

Anonymous said...

So, if the Ben and Others aren't Dharma, then Mittelos-Bioscience (who recruited Juliette and employed Ethan) would seem to not be associated with the Dharma Initiative. I wonder if they're even associated with the Hanso Foundation. More questions as usual.

Jimmy said...

MB,
I was thinking very similar myself. And with Juliet being there only 3 years ago and "The Purge" I am believing to have been longer ago than that, then Mittelos-Bio are working on behalf of Hanso? Wtf?

I kind of like the idea though that there were two very different scientific establishments, both with very different ideas/agendas...and there was a war!

Kind of like corporations taking on each other...? Wasn't there a book called "He, She and It" which tackled something similar?
Aimee...get reading ;)

PalmerEldritch said...

Yeah, mb, crapload of questions about the Others. Why do they live in DHARMA's houses (according to Sayid's map), why does Mittelos recruit for them, how are they connected to Hanso, where did they come from, and what the hell are they doing there?! Do they just like hanging out on some Island with a very limited gene pool to choose from? Or are they up to something on the Island? Are the "experiments" or "projects" that Karl was talking about the same as the DHARMA ones? Or different experiments on WackyAss Island?

Jimmy said...

Actually Steph, in the original draft of Tricia Tanaka is Dead, when Hurley ran up the beach it was the Horse who said "Is it the Others?", but they couldn't easily explain why the horse had been there all along and no one had mentioned or noticed it...so they did the next best thing.

PalmerEldritch said...

OK, I realize that the Others live in DHARMA built houses because they killed the Dharmenians and said "Hey, sweet, free houses." But where did they live before then? Huts? Is there a crappier set of buildings that the Hostiles/Others lived at before The Purge?

memphish said...

Caves Palmer -- they lived in caves. Or maybe in spider holes like Alex ducked into back in Not in Portland.

PalmerEldritch said...

But did they get HD in the caves or did the Comcast guys lock themselves out their vans?

memphish said...

I don't know about HD in caves, but HD in Memphis was sweeeet last night.

Anonymous said...

The Others lived in Tepees. like when the set up the fake hatch for Michael's benefit.

What could Ms. Klugh have possibly known that called for such drastic action? Do the others not understand that the Losties are a bunch of soft, city folk?

andrew.

memphish said...

Yurts weren't they Andrew. And they ate "DRIED FISH." I never knew why that made them so inferior in Michael's eyes. That beef in those gorgeous side by side stainless fridges last night looked yummy. That's no dried fish or bananas. It even beats Dharma Oat Bars.

PalmerEldritch said...

Mrs. Klugh knew where the Statues' fifth toe is.

Ralph- said...

not that i doubted you Jimmy, but that is totally a FAKE horse!!

Ralph- said...

later on the horse is real. i think that the shot at the begining is an FX shot, cause the satelite dish looks digital, maybe they did not have the real horse when they shot the FX plate for the shot you are talking about. cause the first time you see it it is totally 100% fake. but it moves later on.

Jimmy said...

YES!!!

THe very first pass I saw of the horse I yelled out "Is that a stuffed horse?".

Even the pan across it's body to show the stirrups etc it wasn't even breathing.

For a brief second I thought when Sayid mentioned the saddle and stirrups I actually thought was going to say "It's fake".

Ralph- said...

watching it again now, taking my notes for tomorrows show, and i caught somthing this time that i did not notice last time.

"Patch" tries to kill himself right after he kills Mrs. Clue.

Very interesting indeed.

memphish said...

Ralph, it's too bad Patchy and Klugh didn't have cyanide capsules. They had days to prepare for Locke, et. al.'s arrival. You'd think they'd be more on top of things if their "secret" is so important.

Datty Mike said...

hehe. I could imagine sayid whispering sumthin like:
"the horse outside is stuffed. no way could a man stuff an animal of that size single-handedly".

I'm continuosly amazed at how little Rousseau knows about the island. She's been on the place for 16 years, and never come across any of the dharma stations before, which the losties have managed to find in about 2 months. very odd.

Colleen said...

I think that Danielle's a rogue Other, hence why she had to disappear when they wanted to go knock on Patchy's door; she doesn't want him to blow up her spot. Either that, or he's Alex's biological father & someone's been avoiding child support.

casey_donahue said...

so heres what I think:

Mikhail and Klugh are hostiles, ben and company are dharma, and when they captured walt they came to the flame to get klugh to help with walt with some mind research or something, dharma beat the hostiles in the war and allowed those two to live in the flame, thats why when sayid came walking up to the place Mikhail was yelling "you said I could stay here if I didnt cross the line!"

so maybe he is the last of the hostiles and only dharma is left

just my thought on the matter, any holes?

PalmerEldritch said...

Casey, it sure sounded like the Purge was a while ago. The Purge (in which poor Roger WorkMan may have been killed) is probably responsible for the disrepair of the DHARMA stations and the growth of the jungle over the road system that Roger was driving his VW on. So, we can pretty safely assume that the Purge happened Pre-Crash of 815.

Klugh was helping the Others catch Ford, Austin, and Shephard so we can assume that she's an Other. She willingly died to preserve secrets about the Others. If she and Mikhail were the last of the Hostiles, why sacrifice themselves to help the Others?

Although, if the Others had their kids then maybe they'd do that. Hmm...

Anyhow, I think that Mikky and Klugh were/are Others (Hostiles).

PalmerEldritch said...

As for Danielle, it may be boring if she really is just a crazy chick living on the Island for 16 years carefully avoiding trouble but I sort of by it. I think the Others told her to stay on her side of the line and I think she (for the most part) stayed on her side.

Something to keep in mind about Danielle is that she said that the Smoke Munster was some sort of "security system." Why does she say this? For shits and giggles? It's possible. She is batshit insane. But it's possible that the Smoke Munster has been keeping her out of areas where she could have learned about the Others or DHARMA. It's also possible that she's secretly an Other and knows for a fact that the Munster happens to be a security system.

Unfortunately, I'm an Occam's Razor kind of conspiracy theorist so I reckon that Danielle's really just Danielle. And she's been coerced into leaving the Others alone for the most part. When the Others are on her side, she's free to attack them. Ben seems to have crossed the imaginary line to Danielle's section of the Island and stepped into a trap knowing that he'd be brought to the Lostaways.

My theory: Sometimes a crazy ass French chick living in the jungle is just a crazy ass French chick living in the jungle.

i think its safe to say the purge was a while ago but what I am saying is that the dharma people (ben and company) came to get klugh from the flame for help with walt, because for all we know she had some ability.

I dont understand how she was able to speak english with no sign of a russian accent and from what I could tell she spoke russian pretty well, how are these "hostiles" bilingual? i feel like I am contradicting myself, so many damn questions

Mike Campbell said...

aimee - did you get to the part where billy sees his death?

PalmerEldritch said...

The Others (aka Hostiles according to little ol' me) are all extremely intelligent. Those jerks have book clubs and Ben can quote Faulkner (correct?) off the top of his head. Juliet can impregnate a male rat and solve infertility in humans. Ethan is a great surgeon. Tom can wear a fake beard like nobody's business. And Klugh can train Walt in his magic brain powers and/or analyze the magic brain powers. So, Klugh having learned a second language doesn't sound unreasonable. Heck, knowing those creepy Others, she probably knows five or six languages.

What's weird to me is that the Others (because I think the Hostiles are the Others) have been around for "a long time" but are recruiting new members through Mittelos and through abduction.

Weird stuff!

Sorry guys, I was bedridden last night, so no blog time. Actually, I was so excited from getting these Wonder Woman pajamas that it gave me a migraine. I slept like a 5 year old though.

Ralph, I took my notes yesterday afternoon, and I also noticed that after Mikhail shot Klugh, he immediately tried to point the gun at himself before they wrestled the gun away from him. Then he says "finish it! kill me!" to Sayid.

Mike, I finished Slaughterhouse Five yesterday; it was really good. The violet light & hum happened when he died. Interesting...

I've never fully trusted Danielle. Anytime they show her something, it's freaking new to her. To spend 16 years on that island and not see just about anything or anyone there? Um, yeah. Something's not right with her.

The only problem I have with this, would be that the one survivor who is closest with her is Sayid. And if anyone would be able to see through Danielle's bullshit, it would be him. So that makes me want to believe she's just a simple crazy chick.

My instinct says she's a liar, but my logic says to trust Sayid's judgment, so what the fuck do I know?

Mike Campbell said...

i don't know what to think of Danielle. Maybe sayid will have made a mistake about her. No one is perfect on the island, everyone is silly now and then.

Aimee - Keep reading Vonnegut. He is amazingtastic

people in my class missed Lost this week so we are watching it in class. woohoo.

I wish you were my teacher!

memphish said...

Sign me up for a school that has you watch LOST in class! That's better than conning the teacher into outdoor class.

Mike Campbell said...

well the class is about television production. and they finished their projects yesterday and we were sitting around. So why not catch up on some Lost.

A couple of weeks ago, I directed a guy from Jay and Jack's boards to a site where he could watch the latest episode. He's in the Peace Corp and teaches English by showing Lost. How cool is that?

I'm recording with the 3 Heroes today! I have to prepare. Righ now, I can't remember anything about the show.

palmer, i guess we will find out later who is right here, I think it is odd that a group of scientists would call another group of scientists "hostile" unless they are all like christian bale in american psycho...

PalmerEldritch said...

Steph, the girl from "Stick It" was on Heroes. Don't forget that.

And I saw an interview with her on G4 and she said that her power was not shapeshifting but illusion. That's mildly interesting. Right?

casey_donahue said...

i know another hero with the power of illusion, his name is chris angel, they call him "mindfreak"

casey_donahue said...

that was weird, wrong account

PalmerEldritch said...

The episode of Mind Freak with The Amazing Jonathan was cool. The Amazing Jonathan is the man.

Is his name Amazing Jonathan? Something like that.

/likes the girl in the nurse outfit

Thinking about The Hostiles & Dharma -
It is pretty hard to tell, of course, how Hanso, Mittelos Bio, Ben & Co., and the Hostiles are all related at this point (and whether they are all/any of them one and the same or not at some level).
Going on what Palmer said about Ben & Co. recruiting people (Juliet at least) using Mittelos Bio - it does point to some kind of working relationship between Mittelos and the inhabitants of the island (I am assuming here that there are or have been native inhabitants). I wonder if Ben is the only one left who has lived on the island his whole life (assuming he's not LYING about that). Ryan @the Transmission has a pretty good synopsis of what we maybe think we know about Dharma and The Hostiles and their history - http://www.hawaiiup.com/lost/2007/03/07/enter-77/#more-75.

PalmerEldritch said...

Read Ryan from Hawaii's notes on the episode. Do we know that Ethan worked for DHARMA? I know that we know he worked for the Others but did he ever day that he worked for DHARMA? Maybe I misread what Ryan wrote but I think Ryan miswrote what he wanted us to read. :)

Palmer -
You're right he probably did not work for Dharma, (just Mittelos Bio in SOME capacity) since Dharma does seem to be defunct - none of the stations are in active use, and Juliet refers to them in the past tense when referring to the underwater station, telling him that "they used to call it the Hydra" (going off memory there - not a direct quote).

I'm liking the idea though, that our Fusies have stumbled into the middle of a conflict (or alliance - don't know yet), of which we don't even know who is all involved.

Forgot to say earlier - hope you're feeling better Aimee! Isn't Wonder Woman supposed to have healing powers or something - maybe the pajamas have the mojo too

Thanks for the recap, guys. The recording went well.

Aimee, are you old enough to have owned underroos?

casey_donahue said...

did anyone here partake in the lost experiance? The guy who worked right under hanso was named mittelwork and he turned on the hanso foundation, perhaps mittelos is the new science group he started and they are what hanso's dharma people call "hostile"

and i am guessing that the hostiles do not know if there are dharma people still alive, how would they know kelvin died? i am guessing kelvin and desmonds confrontation was well after the purge, I think we need to rewatch live together die alone to see what desmond has to say about the hostiles because I cant remember

I too was wondering if maybe Mittelos Bio was Mittelwork's company (and perhaps had slightly different motives than Hanso). We do know however that Mittelos Bio is at least 3 years old (as of 2004 in the show), and so probably existed alongside the Hanso Foundation. If they did have Edmund Burke killed by that bus, they definitely are some scary mo-fo's.

Finally - a show worth posting about! As a long time listener, and a first time poster I've enjoyed every moment of MYOKAMA SAS and the digital attitude.

TLI - It is so wonderful that you have taken the helm (along with Dharmalars) to carry on the traditions of Scott & Steve! I miss the stories about Bluestone, and the red card lists - but life is busy.

This episode is why I fell in love with Lost from the first airing - the tension, the red herrings, the interaction between Hurley and Sawyer...it is almost as though the season is finally getting it's legs back after a year-long hiatus...

Can't wait for the next podcast. And yes, Jack has a coconut head.

hey guys, i know this completly not LOST related but i thoguht someone here might know somthing. Im trying to get on the show American inventor, and i found the website, the application form, all that stuff. the first thing they ask for is the participant number, and nowhere on the site does it say how to get one, i was wondering if anyone here knew anything about this, or would know where to look.

thanks

MB, migraines are like kryptonite for Wonder Woman.

I have a theory about the whole Mittelos thing I'll discuss tomorrow when Kim & I record. I still have to gather my thoughts and my wireless router is busted, so my patience is worn thin right now.
