Alpert-centric?

10 minutes in and Jack has been beaten over the head with the butt of a gun, and kicked in the face. LOL...and he's still Foxy :P

This episode doesn't feel very Alpert-centric.

Trevor McFur said...

No, I guess not.

Didn't Ben SEE "Jacob"? I was under the impression that he did...

Ben said he did Kim, but since his lips were moving odds are he was lying.

LOL! As soon as Juliet and LaFleur profess their love to each other...Kate is put onto the sub. Right between them. Awesome. BTW, that CGI sub looked like it belonged in Wolverine.

Trevor McFur said...

Looks like Kim is 5 minutes in the future...

I'm so psyched for this finale it's not even funny!

Trevor McFur said...

I don't know, that CGI sub reminded me more of Babylon 5.

t-dot kim said...

What will killing Jacob accomplish??

Trevor McFur said...

My wife stopped watching Lost at the end of season 2. Until tonight. About 45 minutes in, she says, "Now how is that guy swimming in the tunnels with Jack and walking through the jungle with Locke?"

Trevor McFur said...

Is he going to kill Jacob because that's what Jacob wants? ("help me")

memphish said...

Killing Jacob ends the mindlessness of being an Other. These people follow him willy nilly, sequestering themselves in the Looking Glass, killing their own sons even though they know they are going to. Locke thing Jacob is the evil overlord of the Island who is playing the game of how far can I push these people, and he's been pushed far enough.

If they kill Hurley we're going to have some dead writers!

1) Eloise is suddenly Aussie.
2) They played the trekking music.
3) Please, no more redundant scenes.

Stephanie said...

4) Meh.

Trevor McFur said...

I think that every season finale ends with a bunch of Losties trekking across the island. Of course, there's no more log-carrying guys anymore, so they had to round up a bunch of Others to do it instead.

memphish said...

It's 2 hours until the final thud -- you must trek!

I loved that episode. I was tense and anxious. I loved the relationship stuff except for Kate getting on the sub. Damn that Sayid once again. He really needs to stick to his feet and dishwashers and give up the gun. Locke was S1 Locke complete with boar. And Hurley got tripped up by who the President was.

Holli

t-dot kim said...

Really Steph? I liked it. It did feel a little all over the place, but I'm pumped for the finale.

memphish said...

Apparently I'm the victim of a foiler. I heard a certain absent couple was going to be in this episode and yet they were not. I'd also heard this was Richard centric, but I wouldn't define it that way. And I must say that if this is it for Richard's story, Lindeloff and Cuse are dead meat.

Holli

Stephanie said...

It was interesting to see assured Locke and confused Alpert. But that was about it.

Trevor McFur said...

I had heard of a Richard-centric episode, but hadn't heard that this was going to be it. I did get hopeful early on.

I liked it a lot, and thought it was very good esp compared with some of the previous pre-finale episodes. Kate's useless ass getting popped into the sub was almost cringe-inducing, though. You know that she's going to convince Sawyer to come back; hopefully that painful scene will be over quick next week.

andrew. said...

i really liked this episode. I was especially struck by the direction. CGI sub aside, this was a great looking episode, and showed off the cinematic quality that puts LOST one rung above other shows.

Lots happened, i kept checking the clock and was surprised by how much time was left. Definitely feeling the push towards the finale.

i liked Kate this episode! She was the voice of reason! Evangeline Lilly had some good reaction shots too.

Trevor McFur said...

I guess Daniel is really dead.

memphish said...

New theory about Bram and Ilana. Jacob brought them there to stop Locke! But they don't have all the deets, and failed to stop him while they had the chance. If we could get through the finale without them, it would be fine with me.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

Jacob must die!

I guess the Island must want him dead. Maybe Jacob "harnessed" the power of the Island to live forever(ish) in his Cabin? Dunno. But if Locke has really been given all this knowledge by the Island, then it looks like the Island wants Jacob out. Or Locke is just a weirdo.

Fun episode.

Nice to know that Richard has spent the past 30 years being confused. Or something.

Parts of this episode looked gorgeous. I think they call it... Hawaii. Really captured the mountains and the stream. The submarine, however, looked craptastic.

PalmerEldritch said...

also, Pepsi Throwback is pretty good. Like it a bit better than regular Pepsi, methinks.

DenAss said...

I liked the look of this ep a lot, but help me out here, did it have kind of a dull, almost sepia tone to the non-panoramic shots? It almost felt like they were trying to use that effect to emphasize that this was from the 1970s by the "look" of the shots.

Or maybe the color is just a little off on my set...

DenAss said...

Oh! And Aimee, I like your theory about how Jack will likely cause the incident.

I'll be surprised if it does not turn out like you suggested.

JoeSC said...

Did anyone else find the Hurley / Chang dialogue absolutely hilarious?

I thought Jorge played that perfectly... The guy gets one little scene in the entire episode and absolutely killed it!

mb said...

Pretty good episode. Except I had the opposite reaction from Andrew - I DIDN'T look at the clock and then the THUD came and I was like "WHAAA...allREADY??!?!"

Totally didn't see Sayid coming. Awesome.

The Dr Chang/Hurley history test was too frakking funny - definitely one of my two favorite scenes.

RE: Locke - he's definitely rocking the boat a bit. A thought I had was that Richard and Jacob (assuming he exists in some form) are perhaps part of a power/social structure on the island which Locke is challenging. But he wants to KILL Jacob? WTF?! He says that the island talks to him so I assume its the island who told him to do it (I think - I'm going off memory of what he said) but does that mean that Jacob is a bad guy?

And I keep waiting for Ben to stab John in the back (actually or figuratively).

Shouldn't Jughead be completely encased in cement? Wasn't that what Faraday told Ellie to do to keep the radiation from leaking?

Fleudiddy said...

Ok here are my crackpot theories, Jacob is Daniel's Journal that how Ben knew everything before but doesn't now crap now. Jughead's radiation is why Miles see's dead people and why Charlotte was such a biatch. Juilette must kill Kate!!! I used to be a Kate fan until this episode especially when Jack was saying we can fix everything and everyone that died would have died and all Kate could think about what about us Jack even though I've kicked you to the curb twice. What a selfish c**t t**t b***h!!!!! And Sayid was pimp yet again but I would of been happy if Kate got one in the back.

And I'm still waiting for Daniel to pull a Doc Brown on us.

how is Jack going to detonate the bomb? is there a button to press on a cryogenic hydrogen bomb?

and is anyone else really afraid of the "Hand of God" from The Stand doing something with that bomb? or the hand of Smokey?

Jacob is a little shit. John Locke's gunna fuck him up.

PalmerEldritch said...

want to see what Jughead would look like if it blew up?

Jughead is an EC16 Hydrogen bomb from 1954. The closest I can find to a detonated EC16 is Ivy Mike which is a similar cryogenic kind of hydrogen bomb from 1952 which left a crater 3.25 miles wide. Watch it blow up at that link!

memphish said...

Jack will blow up Jughead by crying until the bomb explodes on its own to put itself out of its misery.

I actually liked that Kate was making valid arguments last night, but not that she's going to come between Sawyer and Juliet again because Sawyer will feel like he has to take care of her too. Juliet seems like the kind of chick who'd be willing to consider a three-way. Maybe they can move to Utah and be the forerunner of Big Love.

I don't know whether or not it's because i have a hangover from hell, but this episode seemed to drag... it felt like it was going on for ages. i looked at the timer and there was still half of the episode left... very confusing.

I liked this episode alot better than last weeks... although, in fairness, that wouldn't take much. But i was still a bit "meh" about it. Just setting up what's to happen next week i suppose. Bombs going off, jacob being hit by one of Locke's moobs and a threesome between kate, sawyer and juliet.

Hello. My name is Steve, and I never post here. Hell, I hardly even come to this site. However, I was a huge fan of MYOKOMW/SAS and The Dharmalars.
I understand that the Dharmalars podcast ended around the beginning of the season and I understand why. In no way am I suggesting that the podcast should get in the way of personal lives.
However, I have one request: Is there any way for the Dharmalars to get together at some point this weekend for a finale prediction show? They were always a part of my Lost season finale ritual, and I'm going to feel empty next Wednesday without hearing Ben and Ralph make outrageous predictions about the episode. If you can't do it, I completely understand, but I don't think I'm asking for much. All I want is one 20-30 minute episode. It would mean so much to me.
Thanks in advance.

Steve:
Ralph- said...
last week i wrote:
"So, when Locke and Sun come back from 2007 to meet up with the rest of the "oceanic folk" it will be much later than '77 and everyone will be already inserted into the "others" camp, with a Younger Ben Linus as their leader. THIS is why Ben Linus has been so insistent on guiding the oceanic survivors along their path this whole time!"

I believe this more now than ever!!

At the end of season 3, Ben Linus says that if Jack leaves the island it will KILL US ALL, which i am sure ben believes this because it appears that Jack's purpose is to Shut Down JUGHEAD. Ben knows that the Jack needs to help "The Others" and, much like Elouise and Faraday, is aware of the events of the past. Ben has been spending his whole life doing whatever it takes to make sure that the Oceanic 6 stay on their path. The smoke monster can see the future and the past and this is why it allowed Ben to move on.

The thing that sold me on this is because we know that Eloise knows EVERYTHING that happens up until the point of Desmond being in the Hospital. Since she knows everything, she told the remaining oceanic 6 that they needed to go back. All of the first half of season 5 people and the last half of season 4 everyone (ben, locke, eloise, jack) have been saying that they NEED to go back. But why? when they finally returned nothing really happened. They did not save the day...yet. we have not seen the purpose for all of them being there.

I feel that, with the current situation of all of the oceanic 6 and Miles being outcast from The Dharma Initiative, that they will spend the remainder of the show as "Others"....

SEASONS:
1) Learning about the members of Oceanic 6
2) Learning the history of The Hatch
3) Learning about Ben, Juliet and "The Others"
4) Learning about the Freighter Folks and Widmore
5) Learning about the past of the Dharma Initiative
6) Learning about the history of Richard Alpert and the entire history of The Island!!!

This is what i believe is going to happen.

this was from the last thread. you should come by here more often. :)

And Ben and Ryan think?
I'd love to know?

Anonymous said...

Since Stevo won't be back, F U Stevo! Ha ha. Sidenote, is Ralph still doing that other show? I haven't been following.

Anyway, I don't think Locke really plans on killing Jacob. Last time we saw Jacob he seemed like he was being held captive. Some people who believe Locke is going to kill Jacob, believe he is doing so to free him. I think Locke just fed a line to Ben to shock him. He knows Ben can't do anything to him. We'll see.

I didn't like the movie (don't know if it's actually a book), but has
anyone seen The Spiderwick Chronicles? The circle of dust around Jacob's cabin kind of reminds me of that movie (the house is protected). Just saying. It wouldn't surprise me if the circle of dust protects the cabin from something or keeps Jacob in the cabin.

This episode was all about shocking us.

Stephanie, I too like lists.
1. Richard telling Sun he watched them all die.
2. Kate getting shot?
3. No Sayid shot someone else. Sayid!
4. Eloise is in charge?
5. Richard and Ben get owned by Locke?
6. Locke is going to kill Jacob?

I'm sure there were more.

Quick notes:

It's starting to look like Jack's the bad guy to Ben's good guy.

WTF is up with the gun shot noise followed by someone looking like they jizzed in their pants?

Hurley once again steals the show.
Hurls had worried about who's president of the U.S. before. You'd think that he would've prepared himself for such questioning out of his own paranoia. I had to watch that scene 10 times because I couldn't stop cracking up. Each time I'd here the next thing he said and crack up missing the next few things. I think the Korean War never happened was the best. While I don't know who the president was in '77 (Jimmy Carter?), I would be smart enough to know that if this dude from the past knows about a war it probably happened. I would've been like, Listen movie star, I'm not a history teacher. Then Chang would I know his films to which I would respond, "Alright dude, we're from the future."

On a non-Lost related note, but since everyone's been talking about it.

I hope Coke follows in Pepsi's footsteps (never thought I'd say that) and releases(?) a sugar cane Coca Cola Classic. I am sick of going to specialty stores (which are usually a couple miles away) to get Mexican Coke (made with sugar not corn syrup).

Have I been living under a rock? I hadn't heard anything about Pepsi Throwback until this message board. I did notice the old school Pepsi logo though.

PalmerEldritch said...

Pepsi Throwback is "new" for this summer.

Kosher Coca-Cola is made with cane sugar, supposedly. So, I'll be keeping my ears open for any Kosher stores (??) in my area.

I thought Coke was "Kosher". Hasn't there always been a Kosher thing on Coke?

I do remember one of my friends who's Jewish was drinking a Coke can with a yellow tab and he said it was special for passover. I was like, dude the store just pained the tab to trick you. Why not just not drink Coke on passover? Anyway. . .

As Palmer suggests, "Kosher" and "Kosher for Passover" = not the same thing.

I have little doubt that the hydrogen bomb is going to explode next week [following the 'introduce a gun in the opening act and it will have to be fired by the 3rd' rule] Although i'm not sure what's going to come from it, I do think think that everyone left on the island should be dead, but obviously won't be. So the universe has to put up with the Others still existing, but that doesn't mean it has to accept them having future Others.

Sound the alarm... I'm in a bit of a Lost dilemma this morning... I went out for happy hour Wed nite (can't blame me 2 for 1) and my dvr let me done - no Lost! So I purchased the episode on i-tunes and I had the wires to transfer from i-pod to the tv but my new hd is far too complex (i'm obviously not a man of science) so i can't do it, thus no big picture, no surround sound, no nothing! But alas I try it this morning on the older tv in my office and sure enough it works. However, that is only to be used for work stuff and/or the occassional orientation video.

Which brings me to my quandary: if I close my door and watch there very well could be an "incident", but maybe, just maybe the incident is supposed to happen. What do you all think? Alternately, I could watch it on the tiny screen on my i-pod but all i see is jack's head- Kim you were right it is a mellon head.

Signed,

P.S. Props to Kelly K. for her flash dance - it would be hard to rate the women on the Office as there are slim pickings but she gets some points for that.

If Desmond makes it back to the island and spends any time with Younger Ellie then it's possible.

Otherwise it's just one of things that you can ask on the Official LOST Podcast and get an answer that fobs you off until they basically say "we screwed up - our bad!"

Yet, I still like LOST.

Will said...

Hey MB, I used to have the 3 plug one w/ my old (standard i-pod) but now I have the 5 plug w/ the mini-video and it is a hassle on several fronts...the old i-pod had a very easy settings for sending signals out and there was no guessing w/ the 3, now my flat screen has a of inputs for the 5 and they are unusual colors. Just a pain. Worst case scenerio I can watch it on my laptop (though not as much fun) or come into work on the weekend to watch it on my tv here. But maybe it's easier where do the last 2 plugs go (sounds like you know they are separated by 3 and 2)

Will said...

And I apologize in advance in this is easily explained in the directions but directions to me are like trying to tell Locke what he can't do...just not gonna happen.

memphish said...

I don't think all of Ellie's foreknowledge comes from the notebook. I think during the Incident she'll be exposed to high doses of electromagnetism and will have flashes before her eyes just like Desmond did when he turned the key. That's how she'll know about the red shoes guy. The only flashes seem to be about death. Weirdly disturbing for those having them I suppose.

As for Desmond's role, that probably does come from the notebook or from time with Jack and Sayid.

RRB - I do not (embarrassingly) yet own an HDMI cable, so I cannot personally vouch for this - but everyone I've asked tells me that there's basically no discernible quality difference between HDMI cables. Most of the places you find HDMI cable (electronics stores) are REALLY overcharging for them.
I know there are several places online that have decent prices - the place I've been looking at is Cablewholesale.com

Jordan and Palmer - where was it you bought your HDMI cables (I know you mentioned another website that was selling them cheap)?

It's Monoprice.com. I've ordered at least a 1/2 dozen from them at about $5/cable. They seem to work fine.

Will -

If your flatscreen is like mine, it has 6 sets of plug inputs on the back of the TV (maybe yours has more or less).

At least ONE of those sets of plug-ins should be the same colors as the colors on your cable. I'm assuming there's a red, a blue, a green, and then also a white and 2nd red plug - all attached to the same cable.

The red, green, and blue cables carry the video feed, and the white and other red cable carry the audio. As long as you match the colors up (red to red, blue to blue...etc.) it should work. If the picture/sound isn't right, first try swapping the two red plugs - maybe you accidentally switched them when plugging them in.

Other than that - just make sure you have your TV set to the correct input (whichever one you just plugged your cable into - on my TV the Red/Green/Blue input is "INPUT 1").

I don't have an iPod Mini (that's what you said you were using right?) so I don't know how/if they are different from the standard iPod, but my settings for playing videos (on the iPod OR piping them out to a TV) are in a menu under:

Videos -> Settings -> TV Out

Hope this helps! If you want more help - you can email me - lostinitiativespoilers@gmail.com. I'm no expert (and I haven't even performed the hookup that I describe above), but I'm happy to offer what I can.

Will, I'd like to clown you for not being able to hook up your iphone to your tv, but then I think about the fact that you chose to actually connect your iphone to your tv. I would've just run a wire from my desktop or laptop. I've had 2 iphones and an iPod video and I've never connected them to my tv so kudos for actually making use of this ipod function.

Anyway, I believe HDMI has better picture, but it might just be the hardware. My 360 is connected with component and my PS3 is connected with HDMI.

I didn't check the site MB posted, but you can buy HDMI wires pretty cheap. I am baffled when I go to Best Buy or Fry's and see HDMI wires for $90 o even more. I guess it's like how they used to have monster cables and such.

I would suggest you order more than 1 if you ever do since the wire is usually cheaper than the price for shipping and when you combine items the shipping is cheaper than if you were to order them separately(usually).

I have bought 4 or 5 HDMI wires from Amazon.com. Make sure to check the shipping price before confirming purchase.

Another advantage to HDMI is that it's only 1 wire as opposed to 5. Much less cluster.

andrew. said...

Boom! goes the hydrogen bomb!

mb said...

Mir - indeed HDMI cables make the hookup super easy. Unfortunately I am unaware of any HDMI cable that would connect to an iPod or iPod mini. If someone knows of one that would definitely be the easiest solution.

Will - here is a picture of BASICALLY what the back of my TV looks like.

Don't know if it is similar to yours (I have a Sharp Aquos LCD), but you can see what I'm talking about - you can see the sets of plug-ins labelled "Input 2" "Input 3"...etc.

You would use the Red/Green/Blue set of plug-ins with the Red & White plug-ins right next to them.

My tv actually has a side hookup of three prongs for "PC"s which was confusing b/c I wasn't sure if I should plug my lap top or i-pod (not really mini- whatever the new middle one is) but my tv lets you click on every option but scrolls past pc? so I just gave up on that one. I'll try the 3 video/2 audio suggestion and mess w/ it till it works only downside is my surround side runs from my stereo (did it that way so I could split it also to my my add'l speakers outside and in the bathroom etc.- actually pretty cool b/c I can ran them all at once or cut them and run them in groups or any one individually- that was a tremendous pain in the butt - running wires all over so they are concealed and splits for the speaker options -which is why it is so frustrating that I am having an issue w/ this. No, worries I plan to get this done.

I saw Star Trek and hated it. Or I saw most of Star Trek and had better things to do than to stay for the rest. I usually like JJ Abrams over-the-top style of directing. He is usually visually interesting. This isn't. I liked the cast but Kirk was sooooo cliche. He's a trigger-happy rebel who doesn't follow the rules. The perfect candidate for the military. Not.
That Zachary Quinto is going places. That kid is talented.
Other than that the humor was way slap-sticky. I hate to ruin it for everyone. I have a feeling I'm the only person in the world who feels this way. I predict it'll make a killing at the box office.

Well, I don't think any amount of bad press is going to stop me from seeing Star Trek. Sucky or not - my ass is in that seat (....sometime this month - lol).

Man, I think I've listened to the Ben Linus calls 10 or so times now, and I'm still laughing. Good stuff.

From my Stephen Colbert desk calender-

STEPHEN COLBERT ON KNOWLEDGE:

Pain is the body's way of telling the brain it's in trouble. Similarly, confusion is the brain's way of telling the body, "All right buddy, drop that book!"

Steph you need some Lithium or something. You seem off kilter in your entertainment enjoyment lately.

/JK, please don't take offense

It's all this quality Buffy I've been ingesting lately, Holli. The bar has been raised very high. I wish I could be blown away by Lost again. I really do.

I still can't figure out why Hawking would want to send Faraday to the island. I realize that he was there in '77 to be killed, but why not keep him from every going to the island? I guess she needed whatever happens on the island to stay the same from 1977-the present? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Oh, and if Dharma is still around and (I think) sent Ilana and that other guy back to the island, does that mean Hawking is part of Dharma? She was all up in the Lamppost. Thoughts?

memphish said...

I have no answers to those questions Holder, but overnight I started wondering if Dharma used the Lamppost to make the food drop deliveries into 2004.

I've been thinking on the "very smart person who came up with the LAMPPOST" I've Crossed off Dan, thats it. Maybe Dr.Chang?

After the sceane whe Alpert is shown the picture of the threesome by Sun, and then they cut to LOST..Does Alpert then fill in the rest of the story to Sun off screen?

Pfft. It was mother's day for us almost 6 weeks ago.

Well then

ace of cakes was awesome.

Mike Campbell said...

Ace of cakes was Great. And the Dharmalars shirt really tied the episode together :)

PalmerEldritch said...

the beginning, while random, was amazing. funny stuff.

also, giacchino's star trek music is fantastic. the more i listen, the more i like it.

Stephanie said...

Again, the Star Trek music didn't do it for me. I know y'all are tired of hearing it from me. I'm tired of hearing it from me.

I had a wonderful Day Before Mother's Day today. I took Morgan shopping and got to spend hundreds of dollars on her. Then they took me out to Outback for a steak. Then Morgan and I finished season 4 of Buffy. What more could I ask for? Then I get to work 12 hours tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day, Holli.
Who else? That's it?

mb said...

Just home from seeing Trek - VERY good and a very fun ride. LOVED Giachino's tunes. These guys are on there way to relaunching this franchise for a third frakking time! Sounds ridiculous when you say it, but they certainly changed just enough elements of that universe to make it feel new. We'll see where they take it.

mb said...

Sorry Steph - not trying to disagree or say you're wrong. I just came home pumped about it.

Chris JC said...

I enjoyed it too. None of it felt like a big deal or a hugely epic story (although a few events were certainly surprising, and made possible by the approach they've taken) like some of the other movies have tried to do, but it IS very enjoyable and entertaining.

Also - it's extremely funny in ways I didn't expect. Trekkie jokes and non Trekkie jokes.

memphish said...

Happy Mother's Day Stephanie!

Ace of Cakes Lost special was fantastic. Be sure and watch. I wish they'd stuck with shirtless Sawyer though.

I won't get to see Star Trek for a couple of weeks. I hope my expectation meter won't get too hyped to make me enjoy less than I might otherwise.

Holli

Stephanie said...

mb, I'm glad you and everyone else is enjoying it. I'm pumped for those little movies that won't come my way for weeks and that no one will see and will be out of theaters before I get a chance to catch em like this.

PalmerEldritch said...

Happy Mother's Day from Samberg and Timberlake.

not safe for... anyone really.

- Ace of Cakes v. Lost was great. I was disappointed that they cut out Jorge's tour that was in the promo but it was still awesome-o. I remember seeing the Dharmalars shirt in the promo pics but i totally missed it when watching. Too focused on CAKE and Anna, i guess.

- I watched Steven Soderbergh's 'The Girlfriend Experience' yesterday. It's good, not great. I like the way that he blurs fiction/non-fiction but i don't think the film asked enough questions.

- I also watched Caprica. I could see it becoming a good series. It was deeper than i expected it to be, so it has room to build, but on its own it's not very good. The acting is atrocious and the direction is pretty bad. It's very different in style from Battlestar Galactica, so i don't expect many BSG fans to stick around.

- i expect Star Trek to be this summer's big winner. They really did their job with the trailers & promotion. Even though I trust Stephanie's opinion and am tempering my expectations, I'm still intrigued enought that I need to see it.

- HOLY MOLY LOST FINALE THIS WEEK!!! (there seems to be less buzz than previous years)

Jordan said...

lol. Was just about to post that, Palmer. Pretty funny stuff.

Steph, I'm affraid your Buffy obsession seems to have killed your ability to enjoy anything else ever. :P

Stephanie said...

I did watch the first several minutes of the first epi of Freaks and Geeks and loved it. So before it's time. If it was made today, it would be huge. The 80's and social outcasts or geeks are all the rage these days.

I should be finishing Buffy either today or tomorrow. Expect me to be depressed for a while.

Stephanie said...

OMG, Jordan. I think my fantasy is about to come true. My two favorites in the same episode. I hope they fight.
Andrew, do my two favorites fight? Dont' tell me.

Then Morgan and I finished season 4 of Buffy....
I should be finishing Buffy either today or tomorrow...
? did you skip some episodes?

Stephanie said...

No. I'm rewatching with her but I'm on the series finale right now. OMG, I love Angel.

Stephanie said...

It's over. That was a very satisfactory ending.

andrew. said...

now you just have to finish Angel.
looking forward to the post-Buffy Confessions podcast

It's just dawned on me Locke invented Jacob. Jacob is first mentioned by Locke to Richard in 1954. Richard then decides to create this Man Behind the Curtain based on Locke's claim that this person, Jacob, drives what happens on the Island for the Others. Ben somehow discovers the sham, uses it to usurp Charles' power and continues the con to keep power. The thing that we saw speak to Locke in the cabin is an Island manifestation like taller ghost Walt. The Island then decides to use Christian as Jacob's representative 'cause that's an easier way to manifest itself.

Holli

Stephanie said...

That's exactly what I was thinking but couldn't express it, Holli.

Andrew, it's coming soon. Or after Chris returns from Scotland.

Stephanie said...

Morgan and I might need to watch Twin Peaks after watching Restless last night.

Rrb said...

So I'll be ok if they blow Jug Head up Underground, like Orchid station underground. Any where near the top of the island I'm not on board it would be a frikin wasteland.

PalmerEldritch said...

maybe smokey will eat the H-bomb. that'd be annoying.

Stephanie said...

So the question for the finale, I think, is will Jack blow up Jughead? I say, yes he will.

memphish said...

The second question is if Jack blows up Jughead is that a) the Incident or b) preventing the Incident?

Holli

Stephanie said...

I think Lindeluse is wavering on us and setting off the bomb will prevent the incident and prevent 815 from crashing on the island.

scrdmnkydst said...

My theories for the finalé.

Jack and company will end up stopping the Incident, everyone dying in the process, like Alpert said. This would stop the Swan from mainly being the hatch in which the button needs to be pushed. This would also cause a time reset for everyone who was on flight 815 and everyone they've come into contact, so probably everyone in the world really.

Right but if that happens then Flight 815 would land in LA like it was supposed to... But i don't think that would happen. Season 5's tagline is "Destiny Calls", I'm thinking that during the season finalé, we'll see the time reset and then flight 815 crashing on the island again because they were always destined to. Like, Flight 316, it was one of the flew flights that flew over the island and crashed, even though there was no Swan Hatch to bring the plane down either.

I don't know if they'd have all the memories of the 3 years in between, maybe, maybe not. MEh. I've probably not thought this through. There's still so much about the island that we don't know... and if 815 lands in LA like it was supposed to... how are we going to find out. Those 5 episodes where most of the action was set off of the island weren't awfully good...

lol ramble ramble ramble. I wouldn't be surprised if i was totally and completely wrong though.

PalmerEldritch said...

i really hope that they dont reset the timeline. seems like that might make the first five seasons unnecessary. blargh!

PalmerEldritch said...

also, WTF?! another clip show before the finale????

Jamie said...

I'm pretty sure that bomb is gonna go off, they wouldn't tease us with it and then have nothing come of it, this isn't Heroes after all! I also think that by setting the bomb off, it will cause the leak at the Swan which causes the incident, and in turn sends the Losties back to the present day.

Still not sure how all that ties into Lockes mission, or what the hell Ilana and Frank are up to?

PalmerEldritch said...

i'd really like the bomb to end up being the Incident. new thread, btw!
