They messed with her voice. I recognized the house. I'm thinking this is after the trial for Aaron to have that toy. Otherwise Kate is not following the under 3 rule for toys.

why do they keep teasing us with claire being gone?

Did Sawyer call Miles "Donger"? Love it.

"Oh Dong, where is my automoblie?"

PalmerEldritch said...

well, kate's outfits (and lack thereof) are sure to send internet misfits into a screen capturing fury.

i expect avatars by tomorrow at noon.

Trevor McFur said...

I liked Daniel's line to Charlotte about her "very bad attitude".

Good god, Future Kate looks fantastic.

memphish said...

Kate needs a haircut as badly as Sawyer does.

I liked the episode more than I thought I would before it aired. Interesting how they immediately neutralized the Jack on Island drama by showing us him off Island and fine. Of course we knew that, but they did too.

I like how they're dealing with Claire. And bring on more Christian Shephard.

BTW I don't think you should mix your "I don't want to see people who aren't there" meds with alcohol. Can you confirm Trevor?

Trevor McFur said...

Nice to see Bad-Ass Jin make an appearance. Sad to watch the two of them together.

We know now that Sawyer is alive, I think, because Jack said that he chose to stay. I still can't imagine that Claire is alive on the island having given up her bay-bay. I could see Jin choosing to stay if it meant that Sun got off.

Trevor McFur said...

Yeah Holli, that's a pretty bad idea. But even worse, there were a few beers plus a bottle of liquor, violating the "beer before liquor never sicker" law.

Jack is really not good in a relationship, is he? But jeez, Kate, you just accepted his proposal a week ago, he flips out for a few days and you're throwing him out?

Stephanie said...

I really don't have much to day about this episode other than it was creepy, I thought it was Juliet in the shower but I did think the house looked like Kate's, and I cried during the surgery scene. At this point, I can see Sawyer doing something heroic to make sure Aaron gets off the island.

Stephanie said...

And Joy applying her deodorant in the Crab Shack was the funniest thing tonight, we had some funny tv.

[ally] said...

I got that too. That Sawyer is alive, I'm also guessing Jin is alive as well.

What could this promise be? Something to do with Clementine and his baby momma?

memphish said...

All right -- note it down blogspot -- I have something nice to say about Juliet. I am so glad she had Bernard knock out Jack and sent Kate out of the tent. Finally, someone using their own better judgment despite what Jack says. Yeah Juliet. Also, she was smart enough to know the truth about that kiss.

This episode reinforced all the negative Jack things that have been building up over the course of the series. He has to have a woman he saved; bad bedside manner; crazy Jack faces; stranglehold on control; ultimately wanting Kate to choose him over Aaron.

Holli

[ally] said...

Was it weird that Dr. Erika NoLastName kept appearing after every time Jack saw Papa Shephard?

I thought that was very strange.

memphish said...

That's what I think Ally. I think Kate was meeting Cassidy to do something for Sawyer with Clementine. I want to see the scene where Sawyer asks her to do that.

Holli

[ally] said...

So clearly, Claire knows that Christian is her dad. Does Jack ever find out?

The way he said to Kate, "he's not even related to you!" Made me think he knows.

memphish said...

I agree again Ally. I think Jack knows Aaron is his nephew. I think that's why he didn't want to be around him before he knew Kate wasn't going to jail--he didn't want the responsibility of fathering when he knew he'd be crap at it. The way he threw it in her face (while drinking of course) proved his own point. Did he tinkle the ice in the glass the way Christian did in the kid Jack flashback? I didn't notice.

Holli

memphish said...

That's my big question too Silent Bob. Smokey didn't kill any of them? Only hurt badly 1 of them? Oh come on!

Holli

Trevor McFur said...

I thought it was a really good episode. They have a history of following-up 'holy shit!' episodes with pure character-driven episodes that usually seem like a letdown, but I thought that they did a nice job with this one. I think that the FF was a bridge between the earlier Hurley/Kate/Jack flash-fowards from this season, and the season finale FF from last season, and that the next time we see Jack in the future, he'll be crazy and bearded.

Anyone still wondering if Danielle is really dead? Yeeshhhhh.....

One more thing ... did ANY of those Marines die?

Trevor McFur said...

Great minds....

memphish said...

So why isn't Jack supposed to raise Aaron, other than that he's a shit dad? Was Jack's big mistake taking Aaron off the Island? Is that the real reason they need to go back--to take Aaron back to Claire?

Holli

Trevor McFur said...

I liked the scene in the tent too Holli. It was realistic and logical that Bernard would be the assistant ... I expected them to put Sun in there just because she's a major character. And as soon as the shit went down, she knocked him out, which is exactly what she should have done.

And palmer, tomorrow at noon? You vastly underestimate the power of interweb nerds.

PalmerEldritch said...

god bless you, internetica. god bless you.

memphish said...

Nice choice Trevor. I just saw that screencap and thought it would fit the bill. Glad you agreed.

So, who watched 30 Rock -- OMG it was soooooo funny! I totally want lighting and a wind machine. And I could not stop laughing when Jack's assistant was telling him goodbye.

Holli

[ally] said...

did they only show karl buried? if so, why would miles ask who karl and danielle were?

i hope crazy danielle isn't dead, but i think that's weird.

Trevor McFur said...

They showed Danielle first, then Karl. I had a hard time telling if it was actually Danielle, but I'm sure there'll be some caps up soon.

PalmerEldritch said...

how come the ladies can never just tell jack anything?

"hey, what's your mysterious job, thai girlfriend?"
"i can't say. my job is a mysterious secret. i can't tell you that i tattoo people. i'd rather everyone in the world think i was a pole smoking thai hooker with snausage nipples than know about my horrible secret job as a well-respected tattoo artist."

"hey, kate, why are you acting mysterious and ducking out on your kid?"
"it's a SECRET. i can't tell you that some guy trapped on a mysterious island that we'll never go back to has a *gasp* out of wedlock secret child. you'd never expect that from a prostitute lovin' con-man. no, i'll protect his secret rather than tell you cuz i promised him i'd keep it a secret even though he's on a tropical island. i would rather sacrifice our relationship than trust you with the secret that a horny son of a bitch has a bastard kid."

PalmerEldritch said...

and of course jack has to tweak out about any and all secrets. if dr. jack shephard were on grey's anatomy, he'd be Dr. McTweaky.

Trevor McFur said...

And she can't just say (preferable when he's not loaded), "Look, Sawyer asked me to do something for him. He does't want me to tell you, but I have to do it, I owe it to him." That wouldn't work?

And did anyone else notice Jack getting a big old handful of Kate's butt early on??? I gotta say that I like the 10pm timeslot.

[ally] said...

i think everyone noticed jack getting a handful.

Trevor McFur said...

I hope that, if nothing else, we don't have to hear about Jaters and Skaters anymore.

PalmerEldritch said...

jack shacked up with kate and it was apparently non-stop grab-assery.

just flinging her underwear all over the place. and pants are optional when it's time to read a bedtime story.

- so was Jack just trying to be in charge of fixing himself or did he not trust Juliet? i kind of kept expecting her to slip a remote controlled sickness bomb where his appendix used to be.

- Jin vs Charlotte was my favorite part of the episode.

- Bring on more Christian Shepherd!

memphish said...

Ally, you asked about Claire theories. Doc Jensen suggested that Claire did indeed die when her house blew up and didn't realize she was dead. Christian came to tell her and to take her to Jacob's cabin or wherever it is on Island the dead, but not are hanging out.

Holli

[ally] said...

That's interesting. It could make sense by the fact that apparently everyone can see the dead. Might also explain why Miles had such an interest in her.

You don't need to hide. I've only ever watched about 20 minutes of the first episode of Grey's and of course, the last 60 seconds of the last 2 episodes. Hating Grey's doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Well - I enjoyed that episode a lot more than I expected to (like Trevor? said "They have a history of following-up 'holy shit!' episodes with pure character-driven episodes that usually seem like a letdown, but I thought that they did a nice job with this one."

Two moments that have not been discussed that were among my favorites were Rose saying that Jack is sick for a REASON - (paraphrase) "People don't get sick on this island, they get better". This would seem to be the beginning of the island/universe's supposed 'effort' to get course-correct and get Jack (and all the O6??) back to the island. I add the question of whether all the O6 are 'supposed to go back, b/c it seems like Kate's doing alright - and no mention of her not being the one who is supposed to raise Aaron. This flys in the face of the idea that Claire is the one who must raise Aaron, so I don't get it. Perhaps she is part of the grand scheme or something.

mb said...

RE: Claire - I actually like that theory. It seems crazy at first, but then you start thinking about all the dead people seen on the island (like Ally said), and the fact that a dead person woke her up and was holding her baby. This coupled with Hurley's comment (which I just dismissed as rambling until now) that maybe the O6 are all dead, and perhaps there's some funky shit going on. Let me be clear though, I AM IN NO WAY SUGGESTING THEY ARE IN PURGATORY - lol. But the island seems to somewhat re-define what it means to be dead in general.

Boy that was rambling - more coffee please....

Conan O'Brien discusses GTA IV.

mb said...

That was weird - I just realized that blogger truncated my first post - here's the rest of what I MEANT to say:

The other moment [I loved] is Jin laying the verbal smackdown and busting Charlotte. Jin is badass! I wonder if Charlotte is going to make a sacrifice (like not getting off the island herself) in order to get Sun off (...Ally that one's for you...).

So, I guess it was indeed curtains for Danielle, which kind of pisses me off, b/c while I know they can still do a flashback on her (which seems odd to do for a dead character), she won't have anymore story in the present which would narratively interact with the backstory - the information we find out will kind of have to be a closed-circuit and standalone, right? Actually I guess it could connect with a Ben flashback of how he got Alex. But I am really disappointed in this choice by the writers - she had a lot to offer as a character I think. I guess this may be one of the few downsides to having only 32 more eps after S4 - not a lot of narrative real-estate.

mb said...

I think (not based on any spoilers) that that is the last we are going to see of Claire for a long time, though I think she will be back at some point. I think it's cool - we were expecting death, but instead we get a mysterious disappearance - that is so Lost.

So Sawyer isn't dead? Hopefully that means Jin and Claire are alive on the island (Aussie rules!). Amazingly one of 'my' theories came good - Jack gets Hurley-vision and Ghost Dad convinces him to go back to the island. Coupla really creepy moments and gratuitous Kate's butt shots = Lost heaven.

Did anyone think of Charlie when Miles was looking down at Claire? He was hearing his hoodie--and he looked eerily like Charlie. Maybe he was talking to Dead Charlie’s ghost and he asked Miles to take care of Claire and Aaron. It could also explain why he didn’t go after her in the night when Christian was rocking Aaron. He speaks to ghosts and knows they mean no harm.

I thought they got rid of all the “extras” in the last episode. Now we have a whole new batch on the beach.

memphish said...

We've got a finale full of people to kill still Kim. We've got to keep some redshirts around. I've heard the Miles/Charlie comparison a fair bit today. So far that hoodie look has been worn by Charlie, Kate in Through the Looking Glass, and now Miles.

mb said...

lmao Ally :D

Elias - CONTINUED Happy Birthday!

re: Sawyer - YEAH I meant to mention that as well - it does sound like he's alive, however I suppose he could still have "chosen to stay" but then died.
I could see the scenario where he helps get the O6 out of danger and off the island but then has to stay to face off with Keemy and co. to make sure they DON'T go after the O6. This would then also set up a new dynamic between Kate, Jack and Sawyer where SAWYER is the hero for protecting them so they can escape. Thus Kate feels beholden to honoring the (for now) mysterious request, and Jack doesn't like it but also knows that he's off-island b/c of what Sawyer did.

There - you're welcome Cuselof :)
