I'm standing by my theory that Desmond's the one in the coffin. He died after sayid killeded penny and died of a broken heart... either that or he went all terrorist.
Also, I thought the next futurama film was supposed to pick up where the last one left off... the trailer doesn't connote that that will happen... Also, WHERE'S NIBBLER :(
My theory is that it's Ben in the coffin (although, also that we'll find out next year that he's not really dead, and that it's a sham funeral). My cousin has a theory that it's Locke ... somehow he winds up off the island (against his will), and is crippled again. He can't get back to the island, and thinks that he's been rejected by it ... so he offs himself. Not a bad theory, I think...
The only thing with Desmond ... if he was in there, why was Jack the only one at the funeral? I would guess that Kate at least, would want to go (uhh, she has met Desmond hasn't she???). Maybe Sun wouldn't travel, maybe Hurley can't get away from the asylum, but Kate's reaction at the end of last season made it seem like it was someone she really disliked.

i'd actually like the Claire thing to remain a mystery. i don't know if the explanation would be as interesting.
i sort of feel the same way about the coffin, ally. it's gunna have to be really shocking to not come off like "michael is the man on the boat."
i gave the desmond thing thought... i can only think "terrorist".
Palmer - It's not going to be like the Michael business because we all assumed right from Episode 2 that it was Michael... No one has a bloody clue about the Coffin stuff.
If it's Ben, Locke, or Mike in the coffin, everyone is going to say, "Oh, that's no surprise". If it's anyone else, everyone is going to say, "Oh, that doesn't make any sense". Unless it's Desmond, then we all give props to Herlihy.

Also - I will repeat, though I know everyone is justifiably wary, that you CAN listen to the spoiler seg UP TO the start of the music in each episode without getting spoiled. I don't talk spoilers or spoiler info before that. I even went back and listened to this season's episodes again, and though there was one exception where I mentioned "The Other Woman" being Juliet-centric, I have and will not give even that info from now on until after the music starts.
However, I am flattered that any of you would actually go back and listen to them all post-season. You crazy lost-loving magnificent bastards - lol.

My theory on the man in the coffin -- and the only thing that could make this season finale any better than last years -- is that it's Jack himself in the coffin.
It's far out there, but with the time issues, hey, you never know.

Someone asked on the last thread (I think it was RRB) if there are any spoilers in the season for spoilercasts for Season 5 and I forgot to answer that. No - I don't think so, I certainly don't have any casting info or specific plot info beyond Seas. 4.
The only things I can think of beyond season 4 specifically is the news article I posted a link to a thread or two ago about Cuselof's GENERAL layout of the show until the end of the series (there are NO specifics - it's a one sentence description). Anything else is stuff like "will we EVER find out about such-and-such?", but nothing about actual story specifics.

Balls - I just came here to ask if anyone had come up with Jack also bein in the coffin, given the mad time business. But I'm too late.
I don't believe it for a second, by the way, just figured that all the bases should be covered.
It's also possible that it's JD from Scrubs - based solely on the fact that Kate probably wouldn't go to his funeral.
I don't think anyone here knows me, but since we only have a few hours left to speculate I'm getting my theory out to every Lost related forum that I know. That way if I'm right, I can come back and feel like the man. Anyways, my theory is that Sawyer is in the coffin.

But I think Herlihy is still after the props himself.

If Desmond is the guy in the coffin, then i want props. Props from the Dharmalars AND TLI. It's a bit crackpot... but he's the only guy that everybody loves... and we know how the writers like to turn things around... he's the one the only characters that i'd be really suprised at seeing in the coffin.

I'm just hoping I'm able to stay awake for it. I only got 3 hours sleep from last night and I'm really starting to feel it. Maybe if I power nap for 2 hours when I get home, I will be able to fully focus. Here's hoping.
Why is everybody speculating who is in the coffin? Is there information out there that apparently we find out tonight? I do not watch previews or commercials, so I wouldn't know.
Regardless, my prediction: Scott Wolf. Who else would Matthew Fox be the only person to want to go to their funeral while at the same time be small enough to fit in that little coffin?
I honestly don't know what I think. And don't really care to try to figure it out. Seems to be heavily favoring Mikey or Benji. But I'd really like it if it were neither of them as they are too obvious. At least for it to be fun for me.
I'm with Ally. I hope Claire just stays missing for a bit.
