I am "The Ghost" and could have sworn I sent the picture to you. For one thing, I thought I was already in the gallery.

But hey - I am also the representative of Shaolin Jim who is very happy to have appeared.

Rainbow Road sucks - and online there are guys who will ONLY pick it, even if you've JUST raced on Rainbow Road. Screw those guys.

I must say, guys, for a podcast that, it is alleged, doesn't talk about LOST - there's a forkload of LOST talk in this. Which I'm assuming is the sign of an interesting episode and the promise of what is to come.

memphish said...

MB, back to your Smokey question on the last post. The main thing about Smokey being people to me is that Damon and Carlton were saying back during season 2/3 that we had seen Smokey but hadn't realized it. This is from Lostpedia:

On the official podcast posted on March 21, 2008, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse confirmed that Yemi, the spider which bit and paralyzed Nikki, and some versions of Walt are manifestations of the Monster.

Ralph, I like your Abaddon putting the people on the boat to thwart Keamy idea. But why wouldn't he just tell Naomi to take out Keamy?

I also like your moving the Island through time thing. That seems to be the popular idea out there right now.

And finally, the thing on Keamy's arm is a deadman switch. It's set to detect Keamy's pulse and if Keamy's pulse stops it detonates the devices.

Holli

memphish said...

Ben, nice that your dad likes to quote Hitchcock on bomb suspense.

I'm also guessing at this point that Sayid is going to take the O6 and then the Island is going to move in time and they can't get anyone else. I'm not sure if I think the O6 will go back to the freighter or will be picked up by someone else. Because if you're going to lie about the O6, why not go ahead and include Michael and make it the O7?

Back to 6, But then what the heck happens to Desmonnd will he meet up with Penny? And ride off in to the Secret, secret, secret room to hide from Ben? Keami Dumb ass! Hey lets kill the Dr. and the Captain good luck getting home "Boss". Hope smokie doesn't sorta mess you all up again, something tells me the guns/mortars/Air to air Missle arent going to help. But the extras clips of bullets might do the trick.

- i HATE the fact that Damon & Carlton deemed the spider that bit Nikki to be the smoke munster. They set up Arzt having the spider that Nikki used to get Paulo in the jar and he talked specifically about the fact that the female's pheremones are wildly powerful & if he opened the jar it would bring every male spider on the island. Fans kept going on and on about how they heard the smoke munster in the scene where all of the spiders come crawling, but i just figured that was their solution to how 10's of thousands of spider feet marching might sound.

It also sets up a dangerous precedent where the island can manifest itself as anything to punish people for whatever reason, including some sort of moral standing. I'm okay with the island getting pissed & killing people if it thinks they are doing something to threaten it, like pushing the button or not pushing the button (whichever it is the island actually wanted) or trying to leave the island when you are somehow key to its future, but Nikki & Paulo's fight was very insular and only seemed to have repercussions for them.

andrew. said...

-rrb: Locke & co. did hurt the smoke munster with the dynamite in the 1st season so maybe Keamy's heavy artillary could be effective.

Trevor McFur said...

I'm curious to see exactly how the O6 get off the island. Sayid's plan seems to be to take people back on the dinghy, which doesn't look like it can hold more than 3 people, maybe. I can see Sayid taking Sun & Aaron first ... does he then come back and get Jack, KAte, and Hurley? I also have a hard time seeing Jack leaving while there's still others alive on the island (it would be completely out of character for Jack to be anything but the 'last man off') ... maybe he'll get sick again as a complication from surgery, and that will be the excuse to get him off early? And if they use the freighter to escape, then what happens to Desmond and Michael? And, what happens to Juliet, who we know desperately wants to escape?

ralph- and Ben had many, many brilliant things to say about this episode. I don't remember any of them as it was 0530 when I listened.

Ralph- said...

Chris: if lost gives us episodes that make us think, we can talk about it for days!

Holli: Abadon is not going to interfere with the fate of those he hired. He did not tell Naomi to take out keamy, because that is not how it is supposed to happen. How come Yoda didnt just go kill Anakin Skywalker? Because it was Darth Vader who would ultimately bring balance to the force.

Holli again: Ben's dad IS Alfred Hitchcock.

Redrabbitblue and Trevor: I have a feeling that only 6 people total will be able to fit on that Tiny Boat (zodiac) and Jin will make sure that Sun is the one on it. I think that the boat is big enough to hold 5 adults and one child...but not sure about hurley (sorry dude). UNLESS they tie Carl's boat to the Zodiac!?

Steph: You are gonna have to listen again.

TO ALL SCOTT AND STEVERS: KA-

New Dhamalars! Sweet! must listen!

Holli - excellent - thanks for the research, I had forgotten Cuselof said that. However - I am in Andrew's boat - I do not like the idea that smokey can actually be various things. Maybe I'm just longing for an explanation for what it is and how it works. Its apparent ability to change form will probably make more sense then.

"And if they use the freighter to escape, then what happens to Desmond and Michael? And, what happens to Juliet, who we know desperately wants to escape?"

I'm going to go on record (nothing to do with spoilers of course) and say that the freighter is going to go KABLAMMO in the next 3 eps., and they are going to be rescued in the zodiac or some other small craft.

Ralph- said...

Mega Force hasn't even made it to DVD!

andrew. said...

- Megaforce made a good poster & VHS box, but not much of a movie.

- BSG was solid this week. It felt like they were moving the plot forward and took time to get some Roslyn character moments in.

- since we're going to have a 1 week Lost hiatus after this Thursday, do you think we'll have a crazy cliffhanger (not that every episode this season hasn't ended with a crazy cliffhanger)

- More importantly will we get a Lars episode in the 1 week hiatus or will ye be saving up the mojo for the 8 month abyss?

Stephanie said...

I assume D'anna will be unboxed soon. Hopefully, this will get the ball rolling on finding out who the last Cylon is and where that darn Earth is located.

Chris JC said...

MEGAFORCE is making me think of Warrior of the Lost World, which also featured Persis Khambatta as well as Fred Williamson and my hero, Donald Pleasence.

It was an Italian produced Mad Max rip off - apparently the director was shipped out to Italy, shown the film poster and told to make something that would go with it.

MB: "The Vortex Crystal" has arrived and looks awesome. The planet involved - Gathwyr - struck me as sounding a bit Welsh, so I checked with with a speaker and apparently it's slightly mutated from "Cathwyr", which would literally mean Cat-Men. Also - check your SPLOG email ;)

PalmerEldritch said...

MB and Chris: did you guys say Vortex Crystal? i haven't read it in YEARS but let me know how you like it. i'll refrain from mentioning any spoilers but there are some things that i remember from it that are pretty cool.

holli, did you order your new Dharmalars t-shirt yet? :)

PalmerEldritch said...

chris, music conducted by Shirley Walker on that album?! is that the same Shirley Walker who did the fantastic music for Batman: The Animated Series? nice.

Chris JC said...

You mean THIS music, Palmer? Yes, that Shirley Walker.

The late Shirley Walker, sadly.

She also did the music for at least the pilot of Space: Above and Beyond (which those fans of new BSG really should watch), Final Destination and Escape from L.A. with John Carpenter among others.

One of the rare female film composers.

Courtesy of Ralph- I'm listening to Elmer Bernstein's Ghostbusters score which must be one of the least known scores by direct comparison with the number of people who've seen the original film.

PalmerEldritch said...

she passed away? oh man. that sucks. i was a big fan of the Batman: TAS theme. and just about every other aspect of Batman: TAS.

i may have to borrow The Vortex Crystal from my dad next weekend. :D

Rrb said...

What are the chances Alpert could be Locke's dad?

Chris JC said...

In fact - in just reading about Shirley Walker and have been angered, far too late, by this.

Boo. As that article reveals she was the first female composer to score a solo studio project, and who gave her that big break?

Yes, it was once again John "Mr Excellent" Carpenter - a man who could easily have scored Memoirs of an Invisible Man himself but didn't.

PalmerEldritch said...

that sucks about her getting snubbed. to me, "The Academy" is kind of a joke.

i guess Shirley Walker didn't know the right people. or perhaps they ignored her because she didn't do "serious" work?

Richard Band drives me up the wall, mostly because of "his" re-animator score....ugh....Shirley Walker is a bazillion times better than Band.

PalmerEldritch said...

the score of Re-Animator is not one of the things i remember.

the shovel scene, however, certainly is!

Ralph- said...

BULLSHIT
Re-Animator theme! Richard Band says that he did it as a joke, and that he was re-animating Herrmann...in other words He Ripped Him Off. Look at that link!

Chris JC said...

I think, in lieu of the Goldenrod Ticket, we should just have a Blogspot vote as to who gets to record with the Dharmalars - it'd be super cool for the finale show.

If that were ever to happen, I would have no hesitation in casting my vote. The guy's even in the same time-zone.

To clear things up a little, the old man always, always said he was quoting Hitchcock when he said that. I should've mentioned that so I didn't make him look like a stealer. Good Monday blogspotica!

Chris - SWEET that the book arrived - FIN-A-FUCKING-LLY! So sorry that took so long (you have been nothing but patient - the stress you read in my typing is all me b/c I felt very bad about making you wait). I still have not had a chance to really delve into it. Cool factoid about the name tho - thanks!

I think nominating someone from the blog to record is a great idea and it would truly be incredibly awesome to hear any one of the blog on the show, I also know who I would nominate (...lives in LA...never fails his self-motivated duty to call in...hint -cough..dre..cough-)

Never saw re-animator so was not aware. That's pathetic. Any chance he got paid a very small amount of money, or perhaps nothing for that gig? B/c that is what that score is worth. WTF man?!
In fact - I think he owes the people who paid to see that film money back. So much talent out there and the producers pay for that kind of douche-baggery. (sigh) lame.

does anyone listen to, and would recommend, a BSG podcast?? Because I'm so confused after that last episode! math just isn't my thing. 13+5-3=1 harbinger of death?

mb said...

Chris - that's f-ing hilarious! I've never seen that show so I need to ask, are they staging some of that footage, or is that real stuff they are digitally messing with? good stuff.

Chris JC said...

A combination of real early morning Oxford Street footage, some actual terrorist bombs, some real politicians and a couple of fake ones all tied in together, and two different roles for Steve Coogan. Watch some of the other clips from the show and you'll see how seamless it all is, although you may not like some of the reports from the US network, CBN.

andrew. said...

That's What She - BSG podcast recommendations =
* Galactica Water Cooler
long (1-2 hours), in-depth & really entertaining
* Galactica Quorum
short (30 min avg), critical, funny
* Battlestar Galactica Podcast
official commentary track by show creator Ron D Moore (40+ min)

as far as the math i'll try to phrase this so it won't be spoilery for anybody not up to date on their BSG. 13 = colony no. / 3 = model no. / 5 = final models. i was confused for a sec too until i realized what the 3 represented. so it's not an equation of any sort.

I don't think so. I think that A Coop is John's dad. He stole his kidney. He needed a match for his blood--not saying that ppl outside of their own families can't have the same blood type, but... I'm convinced they're father/son.

Monday sucks.

that's what she said...

andrew -

thanks! they're downloading already.

I was kidding about the math part. i know it wasn't an equation, but it almost came across as one, throwing around that many numbers in one sentence. I just don't follow BSG like I do Lost, so I really had to think back to the prior seasons to remember all of the pertinent info.

thanks!

Chris JC said...

"'cause they were old and they would've died anyway" may be adapted from "'cause she was old and she would've died anyway" from Sweet and Tender Hooligan.

but i'm going off of memory here.

The dogbombing made me think (perhaps oddly now that I think of it) of some other animal humor I had previously only had fleeting knowledge of but last week re-discovered and have been laughing since - anyone ever watch CREATURE COMFORTS when it was on (didn't even realize it was a regular series - albeit cancelled)

I had seen the original Oscar winning animated short a long time ago (originally released 1989 I think). These are also, the people behind Wallace and Grommitt
