So I got my Lars, but I had to download directly. It hasn't shown up in iTunes. My afternoon is looking up.

I saw that trailer a while back and have heard John talk about the movie on Metrobuzz. I figure the only way I'll get to see it here in America's Distribution Center is via Netflix distribution. Documentaries don't fly here generally speaking.

Psyched for new Lars - thank you for this!

However, the link here is downloading a 4K size file which is not working. Is it just me?

memphish said...

I downloaded from the link just fine. I got a 60 MB file. It still hasn't shown up on iTunes for me. I couldn't wait so I downloaded it.

I have REALLY been wanting to see King of Kong. My boss saw it and said it was mesmerizing. Don't know when I'll get to see it but I'm looking forward to it.

Ralph,

Chicken Minis is what that breakfast things are called and they are yummy. Those little rolls are a Southern staple -- Sister Schuberts. The traditional Chik-Fil-A sandwich is the best chicken sandwich; buttered toasted bread; fried chicken and a pickle. Yummmmm.

Ralph- said...

Chik-Fil-A is really really new to Orange County, so i have to get used to getting up early to get over there. BUT they are closed on Sundays?

Steph- I liked Lady in the Water and Seven Samurai, in fact, i own both of those films! I actually watched Lady in the Water last Saturday night. i just havent put them in my segment yet. Ben had actually suggested that i put a Kurosawa film in my segment this week. Maybe i will do Hidden Fortress next week

I'm a little slow on the draw sometimes, so here's my costume suggestion from the last thread:

What about using one of those women's ponchos, with some sort of wire support coming off the shoulders to keep the proper shape? Of course, that's probably a little expensive for a kid's costume...

I really want to see King of Kong. It's coming to a theater in Philly this weekend; I'm not sure that I want to see it 'drive 90 minutes each way' bad enough. There's a single-screen independant theater in town, so I'm hoping it makes it there at some point.

memphish said...

Chik-Fil-A is closed on Sundays. Not very California, but hey, you don't like it, buy the company. It gets on Southern nerves sometimes too.

Thanks for all the costume suggestions. I think I just managed to talk kiddo into dressing up as a Sam-Spade-type gecko. Tomorrow I'm hitting the thrift shops for the hat and trench coat. Then we just have to rig up a tail out the back attached by velcro so that it can fall off. I'd go so far as to add green face makeup, but we're flying to Chicago that afternoon, so no green face paint.

Total Green Card for the Memphis Commercial Appeal's ability to copy stories from the AP and their reporting on Sunday that Apple was going to make a product announcement this week. This meant I did NOT buy and iPhone this week, but now I can either buy an iPhone for $200 less or I can get all the good features of the iPhone without the phone for $200 less and go to a prepaid piece of shit phone that I don't use that much anyway. Yeah CA and my laziness!

DAMN YOU STEVE JOBS!!! I had finally managed to make myself believe that I was far from needing something like an iPhone.
So the persistent bastard goes and upgrades the iPod (i LOVE my iPod) - alas, the iPod Touch will be out of my league for now.

memphish said...

Hubby has been lusting after my iPod, so maybe I need an iTouch which has 16 MB which is probably enough for my walking around music. I feel a trip to the Apple store coming on.

Holli

mb said...

Go for it Holli - let me live vicariously though you :)

Did I mention it connects to the iTunes store via Wi-fi? Instant gratification - download shit from anywhere you have a signal.

Apparently Starbucks is going to have an in-store feature (although I imagine some may be annoyed by it) where the iPod will display (in the iTunes store) whatever music is being played in that Starbucks while you're standing there.

I think this is the next step toward that scene in Minority Report where people walk through a mall and as they approach a store, a voice welcomes them by name and points out what they might like to buy.

This can be cool or a bit scary - lol

memphish said...

While I'm glad about the price break, I am surprised they dropped it. Normally they'd have just introduced the new, less expensive thing and added more hard drive to the original and kept the original price. I just heard yesterday an analyst say iPhone sales were higher than expected, but I know there's been plenty available in town. I wonder what the real story is.

Aimee, Craig -- are you pissed at Apple? Any revenge plans?

David Caruso is the best actor in television history

Jordan said...

And yeah, King of Kong looks pretty interesting. I almost went and saw it last weekend. Will have to do so sometime soon.

Here's a trailer for the movie I think I'm most looking forward to currently. It's from Michel Gondry, the dude who did Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Science of Sleep.

Be Kind, Rewind

Jordan said...

Let's try that again.

Jordan,

I'm looking forward to "Be Kind..." - still need to see Eternal Sunshine tho.

Are you gettin' your place all spiffed up for your impending visitor?

mb said...

I've never watched CSI (any of them actually), but that Caruso montage is hilarious :)

memphish said...

For some reason hubby likes CSI:Miami. I think it's the blonde with the Southern accent. Last season I started watching the first 5 minutes to see what "line" Caruso would open with. It's pretty hilarious. We also try to guess it before he says it.

Holli

[ally] said...

that's about the only reason i watch it too. the first line, not the hot blonde.

Jordan said...

Yeah mb. Been trying. Look like it's gonna be a bit of a last minute affair.

PalmerEldritch said...

wow.

jordan, that Caruso clip is awesome. CSI is always on and i usually try to stick around for Gil Grissom's cheesy one-liner. but it looks like Caruso's got Bill Brissom beat. Phil Phrissom'll have to train hard to compete with sunglasses AND a cheesy one-liner.

holli, i told you i love alliteration.

and has anyone seen the Monk episode with Sarah Silverman making fun of the CSIs with the creepy Gary guy from 24? good stuff.

oh. and jordan... warhawk? i suck at it but its pretty fun.

PalmerEldritch said...

thats what she said.

Stephanie said...

Sounds like California has the weather we had last month. It's 90 here now. That, I can live with.
The only voice that annoys me more than mine is the blond girl on CSI.

Really Palmer? Is it worth it? I haven't seen much of it, so I don't know too much about it.

PalmerEldritch said...

i bought the $60 version at the store and got a bluetooth thingy with it. which works with my cell phone so if i ever want to do that, i can.

that said, the game is definitely worth $20. which is what it costs to download it at the Playstation Store from your PS3.

there is NO single player. there are several maps (usually red base, blue base, and a couple of mini-bases in between) and a couple of different game play modes. capture the flag, deathmatch, team death match, and "zones."

anyhow, you're a soldier who can use a bunch of weapons. and you can use jeeps, tanks, turrets, and planes. then you and your team go and kick the crap out of them and their team. it's basically the multiplayer from Quake or Jedi Outcast with planes and tanks instead of lightsabers and stuff.

i feel a little silly having spent $60 on it but i did get a bluetooth device with the game. wish there was a demo so you could check it out. it's getting rave reviews but it's definitely just a quick, fun multiplayer game. no story, no memorable NPCs... but if you get onto a good server, it's a hell of a lot of fun.

Finished listening. I don't know which way to go on Rocky Horror. I never went to the midnight shows and was not in the crowd that loved it, and although I do find it pretty entertaining, I'll probably never see it again.

I do agree that it's 'cult' status originally seemed contrived, however, it's longevity with fans is kind of remarkable.

So, the bottom line is I could have just saved everyone 2 paragraphs of reading by simply saying - I'm middle of the road on this one.

Stephanie said...

Yeah, me too, mb. I don't hate Rocky Horror and I don't love it. If it were on and nothing else is on, I'd watch it. Meatloaf is entertaining. Entertaining and delicious.
The Fifth Element- thumbs up.
A Simple Plan- I need to stick in my queue.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

I know little of this King of Kong. Will investigate.

When asked for an opinion on Rocky Horror I usually start telling people how much I like Phantom of the Paradise from the year before. That's one to check out.

I was wondering how long it would take Apple to come up with a Wi-fi poddo to get people to buy on the move. Sooner than I thought.

Shame our Wi-fi coverage sucks in our fair capital.

elias said...

Rocky Horror was a stage show written by Richard O'Brien made into a film written by Richard O'Brien - I'd suggest that it has humble origins.

What is relevant is that it's campy bullshit and I'll never forget going to a midnight show to watch bloody meatloaf and a bunch of trannies tart around singing forgettable songs. I agree that Phantom.. is much better although I prefer De Palma's thrillers.

memphish said...

From the tutorial it looks like the iTouch has Safari, a direct YouTube link, and organizes and operates music, videos and photos like the iPhone. There's a calendar and clock too. I don't remember seeing if there's navigation and a direct weather link like on the iPhone. The main upside for me is the double storage capacity. After I burned through my old iPod mini 2 years ago, I "need" (purely perception, probably not reality) double digit storage.

I get bored with Rocky Horror after the first 45 minutes or so. I've been to the midnight show once or twice in college. I voted for Ralph.

It was funny hearing about that guy in King of Kongs who played Donkey Kong in college. My freshmen year, our mailroom had a Donkey Kong machine that was free. By sophmore year, it (along with the pub above it) was gone.

I'm gonna have to go with the Saints, just because they're geographically closer to me. No scientific reason behind it, I'm just randomly picking. I like to watch football, but I'm clueless when it comes to the teams, well, other than knowing ours (Houston, Texans) suck.

Mike Campbell said...

you have to see Rocky Horror live to really enjoy it. I liked the movie because of Tim Curry. Friends and I go to see it preformed live in Portsmouth NH each summer. Its the stage show not a showing of the movie, just so you know.

Trevor McFur said...

A Simple Plan is a great movie. It was a really good book, too, and the book is actually even darker than the movie. I'd highly recommend both.

I've never seen Rocky Horror; I'm excited that I can vote this week based on the arguments alone, unbiased by my personal beliefs.

I pick the Saints tonight; I think that they're going to start off strong. Should be a fun game to watch either way.

memphish said...

So the vet doesn't have to tell the police about the cat on cocaine, but he tells the paper? As the legal expert of the blogspot, I would say that you do not have vet/pet owner confidentiality. Your pet could have pet/vet confidentiality, but not you as owner.

Here's something I witnessed at lunch today. I was in the breakroom eating my lunch when this snooty girl walks in there and goes to the microwave to heat up her lunch, when she goes to check on it, she opens the door and the whole container has melted completely - the only thing still standing was her food! She was baffled and didn't know what to do, as I sat there and pretended I didn't see anything, but laughing on the inside.

mb said...

wow - did she like nuke it for 10 mins. or something?

[ally] said...

she only put it in there for about a minute, but it's a powerful microwave and i think it was a cheap piece of tupperware.

PalmerEldritch said...

ally, i think it may have something to do with the electronics classes you've been taking and the fifteen minutes you spent "fixing" the microwave before she put the food in.

so, everyone on the planet loves Clive Owen, huh? hmm. he's one of those famous mumblers. just mumbles through his movies as far as i can tell. and his King Arthur movie blew chunks. but he's always killing people in elaborate ways so i suppose that that is pretty cool. maybe he's the man. but i can't tell what he's saying so i'll never know.

still, huge explosions, shooting people left and right, AND the Bellucci? i guess that can't be too bad. oh. Matrix movies had that, eh? nevermind...

based on the news of the price drop for the iphone, who here will get the ipod touch fairly soon, and who will wait until later? seeing as the iphone was released in late july, and the price dropped about a month later, im gonna wait until christmas or later to buy an ipod touch.

Malcolm, I'm heading to the Apple store tomorrow to have some personal interaction with the iTouch-like features of the iPhone and will probably pre-order an iTouch. I'll also be able to cancel my cell phone and get a pay as I go one saving tons and tons to pay for the biggest iTouch ever. Time Magazine's 100 Best TV Shows of All-Time

Trevor McFur said...

Holli, is that a dis of WKRP?

Tell me you aren't dissing WKRP.

Stephanie said...

Holli, my dream job would be to work for tv guide or to be a movie critic. But I figure those jobs would include writing. I would suck at that. I might as well continue sucking snot.
Sponge Bob is on the list. So is Freaks and Geeks. Didn't that get cancelled in the first season?
About Hayden Christensen- when I heard he was playing Dylan, I couldn't imagine it working. And guess what. It doesn't work. He's horrible. He even tries to do the voice. Ugh!

memphish said...

Trevor, I've probably seen every episode of WKRP at least twice. But still, one of the Top 100 shows of all time? I do love Les's farm reports and the great turkey drop is a Thanksgiving classic. If you had taken out Andy and the mousey girl, it would have been better.

Holli

Trevor McFur said...

I can't think of anything that I would stick in there in place of WKRP. Andy was the center of the show ... he grounded all the goofiness around him (like an early version of Michael from Arrested Development). And Bailey Quarters? Get rid of Maryann to Loni Anderson's Ginger? Bite your tongue.

Trevor McFur said...

Hmm, actually I don't like that there's no Star Trek: The Next Generation. But I'd probably replace Felicity or Leave it to Beaver before WKRP...

memphish said...

There's a lot on that list that I've never seen and that includes new stuff as well as old. I'd have preferred Gilligan's Island to WKRP. And Brady Bunch. Corny as all hell, but generation shaping way more than My So Called Life or Freaks and Geeks. And while we're at it shouldn't Charlie's Angels the queen of all jiggle shows be on there?

Holli

Trevor McFur said...

I've never seen F&G or MSCL ... I've heard that they're supposed to be great shows, but I have a problem with shows that didn't even last a full season being named as Top 100 of All-Time.

andrew. said...

i'm still hoping my name for the radio tower on Lost, Venus Flytrap Station, sticks.
Yeah, WKRP was a fun distraction and all, but way too broad to be on a top 100 list.

After really enjoying Knocked Up & Superbad, i'm in the process of watching all of Freaks & Geeks. So far it's okay. It's basically The Wonder Years as told by someone who grew up in the 80's.

Holli - if you cancel your cel phone, won't you need an iPhone instead of an iTouch?

i'm glad the "classic" iPods are coming down in price too, because i'm going to burn out the one i've got.

memphish said...

Andrew, Unlike most women I know, I don't use my cell phone for calls or texting very much. My home phone with a land line and voice mail is my primary voice communication method and I should be able to email from the iTouch which I do more than text anyway. Just a basic cell phone that I can pay for minutes as I go vs. a plan with minutes is the best economic choice for me. I have tons of rollover minutes right now that I could never use and the iPhone would force me to continue that. So instead of cell phone and iPod which I have now, I'll go to cell phone and iTouch.

Why not lose the land line you might ask? I have a good reason for that too. In natural disasters land lines last while cell service goes down. In 2003 we were without electricity for almost 10 days and without cable (and cable modem) for 3 weeks, but the good old land line never went out.

Trevor McFur said...

Shoot 'em Up looks like a lot of fun. I'm not sure about The Brothers Solomon; can't decide if it looks like dumb fun or just plain dumb. 3:10 to Yuma is supposed to be excellent, and I like westerns, so that might be number 1 on my list.

[ally] said...

I'm kinda on the fence about The Brothers Solomon, because on the one hand, it is Will Arnet and I like him, but on the other hand it is Will Arnet and he can be dumb sometimes. 3:10 to Yuma looks pretty good too. I may be standing in front of the theater just staring at the door trying to figure out what to go see.

Ralph- said...

according to Will Arnet, the movie got an R rating for Recommended!

that R Rating may actually sell me on the movie.

memphish said...

It seems like there have been a lot more R movies lately.

Holli

[ally] said...

Well fortunatelly for us, we're all allowed to see R rated movies now, so it's not a big deal to us anymore. But then again, you have those parents bringing their youngens to see these movies. Which I don't approve of, I think R rated should be for an R rated audience and that's it. But anyway, hopefully it's good, and if I don't catch it at the movies, I can always stick it in my queue. Shoot 'em Up might be a better one to see in a big screen anyway.

andrew. said...

i hope the recent return of the R-rated film is because the studios realized that people of all ages see R-rated movies. A lot of the big franchises of the 80's started as R-rated films.
They made a cartoon series out of Rambo. Obviously they were banking on the brand selling kids on watching the show, because they could have easily made up a new super war hero without paying the licensing. So, either kids snuck a viewing of First Blood or Rambo, or the name just carried a cool cache because it was supposed to be badass.

I know that there are strong corrolations between film ratings and their boxoffice, but i'm not sure that they're taking into account DVD rental/sales and the boxoffice of sequels. Handicapping a movie with a target rating might make short-term financial sense, but it doesn't make sense in creating a solid, lasting film.
I'm not arguing that every movie is better with gore, curse words and boobies, but you should make the movie that works with as much arsenal at your disposal as possible.

Plus, TV has come into its own as medium, with big stories and production values, so movies should run with the fact that they're not inhibited by the FCC as much as possible before TV standards are relaxed any more than they are now.

i'm sure i'm arguing the conventional wisdom, but when i see movies like Alien Vs Predator, i want to throttle studio execs. (That said, the trailer for the new Alien Vs Predator looks R-Rated and just as stupid)

Ally, Does it count if you work at home? Cause if it does, then yes, though not today. Fortunately?

Holli

memphish said...

I want to party with some sloths this weekend.

[ally] said...

I haven't done anything too obvious yet. Other than walking to someone's desk and not really walking straight. And hey, drunk at work/home office counts. I guess things could be worse, we could be like Meredith from The Office.

memphish said...

I've been watching Mad Men on AMC this summer and they are always drinking/getting drunk AT WORK. It's set in a 1960 ad agency. Every executive has booze in their office. The boss pours vodka in his milk all day, and in the last episode since all the bosses were off with their mistresses, the rest of the staff hit the bar at 3 pm.

[ally] said...

Why can't we all work there?!?!

Stephanie said...

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

The Smiths are having pork chops tonight with spinach and pinto beans along with corn bread.

[ally] said...

What time should we all come over?

/Why do I always find myself inviting me and everyone else over to your house for dinner, Steph?

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, i totally read "The Smiths are having pork chops tonight" and thought of Morrissey and the gang. yeah...

/how soon is dinner?
//sweet and tender pinto beans

[ally] said...

Palmer-
I'm sure that left you wondering, how does Steph know what they're having for dinner?

Stephanie said...

Everyone is welcome at my house. But who the hell wants to visit Alabama?

[ally] said...

who doesn't?

t-dot kim said...

What---who's getting drunk at work??!

HI BLOGGERS! Long time, no chat. What's been going on for the past...month??

;)

[ally] said...

Well Kim, I think we all learned that we've probably all been drunk at work at some point and that it's ok as long as no one notices.

And also, that we all want to go over to Steph's house for dinner.

t-dot kim said...

I'm in. When are we going, and do I have to bring anything? :)

Trevor McFur said...

I know who I'm voting for president.

Stephanie said...

Kim, it's nice to see your pretty mug around here again. We've missed you and TLI. When will we get some? Speaking of podcasts, ralph- and Jay guest on Metrobuzz this week. It's funny that prudish Jay has a girlfriend with such a sailor's mouth.

KIM!! what's up - how was your trip (it happened right?)

memphish said...

Trevor, where do I sign up to join the Eye Spy Military-Intelligence (All Three)? All Three what?

I hope Jay goes to hell too since that's where he was sending Colleen repeatedly in the podcast. Ralph was the moderator once again. How does it feel to be the elder statesman of that podcasting crowd Ralph?

About Lee L. Mercer Jr.

On August 22, 1992, The State of Texas installed an intelligence hotwire in me at the United States Army Military Intelligence Academy Camp Bullis San Antonio, Texas.

The continuation of my biography background experience, graduate education and political experience is being held because of a Lack of authorities debriefing funds and interest for their liability to me.

mb said...

My lord - this is good stuff.

A few things that I noted while reading Mr. Mercer's prose:

- It's little like reading Faulkner crossed with Miss teen S. Carolina (if she were to write out her 'thoughts')

- he very much likes the word "enforcement"

- After reading his Campaign Theme, Platform, Direction, and several more pages of his ideas, I still have no f-ing idea what he is talking about.

- He may not be all that different from our current executive when you consider this 2004 quote from him:
"Tribal sovereignty means that... it's sovereign. I mean, you're a — you've been given sovereignty, and you're viewed as a sovereign entity. And therefore the relationship between the federal government and tribes is one between sovereign entities."

I'm definitely checking back with Mr. Mercer to see how long he stays with it. lol.

Yes, I'm back from Europe. Had some fun, a few too many drinks, but over all a fantastic trip.

Aimee & I recorded before I went away and thought I'd have time to post a podcast, but it was simply too hectic. Thank goodness The Lars are so awesome and rule the podcasting world---glitches and all.

Trevor McFur said...

He also likes the term 'some concerns'. Not sure if he actually has any concerns, or if he's just aware that there's 'some concerns'.

Colleen said...

Steph - I relistened to it and I'm totally going to tone it down on the swearing; I don't want you to have to be weary to listen to it around Morgan.

Holli - In all fairness, I did insult his masculinity about 12,038 times.

Kim - I wanna hear all about the trip! Facebook me?

memphish said...

But Colleen, we expect it of you. And of John. Jay was stretching his range. :)

Holli

Stephanie said...

Colleen, don't change who you are for me. I tried to let Morgan listen while your roommate was reading her list and then you go and scream out the f word. I want to finish listening to my Metrobuzz after picking her up from school but I just have to wait. Sometime I have to put off the Dharmalars for that reason too. So, don't feel like you have to change anything you do. We love foul-mouthed Colleen. Just like we love foul-mouthed Aimee and foul-mouthed Ben and ralph-.

PalmerEldritch said...

hey! don't forget foul-mouthed Kim.

she's the pioneer who broke through the Jizz barrier in the discussion of "Stranger in a Strange Thai Prostitute." Kim ushered in a whole new era of bodily fluid discussion in podcasts.

PalmerEldritch said...

oh. and steph, don't let Morgan read my posts either. :p

Stephanie said...

Hey, speaking of the f bomb, what show started the bleeping out of the curse word? Was it South Park, Arrested Development or Family Guy? I bet it was South Park. It was kinda funny at first but now it's gotten kinda stale.
What does everyone think of Weeds this season? I'm not liking it for some reason. I think that reason is Uturn.

Stephanie said...

Anyone following this controversy? I think she did it on purpose to get out of her contract with Disney.

Colleen said...

Yeah, but I really should keep it down to like 1-3 an episode rather than 20+. For now. Only cause I feel somewhat unladylike. Sort of.

But at least John doesn't ever swear. At all. Like him saying "ass" is a big deal that happens once every full moon. hehe ;)

Reason #1273 why I love my wife:

We went out to dinner tonight, and we're sitting there and she says:
"Have you found out if Donkey Kong is coming to town?" [meaning King of Kong, which I'm dying to see, and she's got no real interest in seeing]
Me: "Well, it's playing at the Ritz in Philly, but it doesn't look like it's coming to Reading." [Reading is home, Philly is the closest big city, and downtown where the Ritz theater is is maybe a 90 minute drive away]
The Wife: "Oh. So you want to drive down and see it next Saturday?"

Just thought I'd share.

Awe, Trev. That is so sweet. I wish my hubby would take me to see 3:10 to Yuma.

Today's Opening Sunday menu:

Red beans and rice with Andouille and Cajun sausage, cooked in a slow cooker since yesterday afternoon
Home-made skillet cornbread with wildflower honey butter
The last of the Sam Adams Summer Ale, served in frosted ber mugs

The Eagles might have lost in hideous fashion, but I'm still in a very good mood this evening!

Trevor McFur said...

Or, it may have been the post-game trip to Home Depot to buy this.

memphish said...

Dinner at the McFur's!

The Chargers looked pretty awful, but managed to pull it out. I was pretty sure people were wishing for Marty-ball for the first 3 quarters. Did they not learn anything in the pre-season? But Chicago was worse.

Does anyone know what is up with the green dots on the back of the quarterbacks' helmets? I'm too lazy to google it.

Holli

Trevor McFur said...

The green dot indicates who has the radio in his helment, so the officials know. Only one player allowed, usually the QB.

Trevor McFur said...

Chicago is pretty arrogant for a team that got it's ass whupped in the Superbowl last year, so I was glad to see them lose. Chicago's offense looked worst than it did last season, but their defense is still outstanding. The Chargers will have an excellent season, but I don't think that Norv Turner is a very good coach, so I don't see them going far in the playoffs again this year.

And come on over ... plenty of food left over!

Trevor McFur said...

worst = worse

I didn't watch the Britney thing, but I did hear it sucked. Did anyone here watch it?

PalmerEldritch said...

holli, i sported the Jack haircut for a long time. now i'm sporting the... uh... need-a-haircut look? but no sawyer-do.

ally, my manager watched it and confirmed its suckage. i'm sure it'll be on youtube. unfortunately...

speaking of sawyer-dos, is it grammatically correct to call kate a sawyer-did or a sawyer-done?

[ally] said...

yeah that's what i keep hearing too that it sucked, and that's all i'm gonna say about it.

Britney Vid

Kirsten Dunst

Indiana Jones

Trevor McFur said...

Jeez, the Brittany link is already down. For the morbidly curious (like me), I saw a clip this morning on TMZ.com.

Whoa, that picture of Harrison Ford as Old Indy ... is this something that we really want to see?

/wait, did I just admit to reading TMZ?

[ally] said...

yes you did, Trevor. but it's ok if you're using it to look at hot chicks or britney.

/ ha! did i just say britney isn't hot?

(i think i did)

Trevor McFur said...

I don't think that there's any objective standards that would still classify Brittney as a 'hot chick'. To say that watching her is like watching a train wreck is an insult to train wreckes everywhere.

[ally] said...

agreed.

andrew. said...

Good to see Aimee In Seattle is still alive and kickin' it.
That's awesome that you got to go to the game, that's kind of a pipe dream here in Pittsburgh.

Steelers kicked some ass on the 1st game of the season though =)

Fuck MTV for being the exploitational dog & pony show that it is. They booked Britney Spears strictly for the controversy and trainwreck factor. Music has the power to be spiritually engaging.

mb said...

Jordan -
excellent pics - I've never seen the serious Hawks fans like that b4 - lol

I think this is the Britney vid - she certainly looks like she's not all there all the time.

Re: the new Indiana Jones - as much as I like John Hurt, that's disappointing if Connery isn't going to do it. Of course he is 78 years old - so maybe he's saying 'screw it'. Would love to see Karen Allen come back though.

Some casting and shooting info over at Der SPLOG for those interested.

mb said...

You know... you're probably right about MTV Andrew - they had to know there was a high probability she would do something like that. Ugh - sorry I posted the link everyone!

andrew. said...

MB - you've got nothing to apologize for. Every b-board and news site i've been to today has been abuzz about the Britney stuff. It's the zeitgeist. Just wanted to make sure that MTV got the blame for dishing out the same lowest common denominator bullshit it has been for decades.

memphish said...

I didn't watch the VMAs or Britney other than Best Week Ever's VMAs in 3 minutes. My favorite part was Justin Timberlake told MTV to play videos and not reality crap.

As for Indy 4, Connery is definitely not going to be in it, but I don't like the idea of a recast dad. Didn't they learn from Bewitched?

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

all the rumors that i've read about the new Indy point to Indy's dad not being recast. up until that one.

memphish said...

That was the first I'd seen of it too Palmer. What if it turns out Indy's dad wasn't really Indy's dad. Cue dramatic music. That's a lame soap opera tactic, so hopefully Speilberg has come up with something better if he feels Indy needs a father figure.
