"Tale of Two Cities" - Episode Discussion

Well, it has been some time since we have had an episode to talk about. It is good to be back!

LAST MINUTE (aka: 4hours left) PREDICTION:

is it possible that we found out that the reason that the "Good Guys" have taken Jack, Sawyer and Kate for reasons we did not know about?

Could it be that we might find out that all three of them might have been with holding information about themselves, that might be important to "the others"?

Maybe these "Others" know something that we dont know about them.

aimee is lost said...

I don't know. Ethan never had the chance to "make his list" because his cover was blown, so that would lead you to believe they DIDN'T know any of them, if they needed to make a list.

However, conflicting with this, is the fact that "Bea" was able to write a list with their names on it, somehow knowing their names. How? I don't know. Maybe from Walt.

Ralph- said...

the whispers are watching.

aimee is lost said...

The conflicting info could support the SaS discussion on 2 possible Others groups.

Ralph- said...

maybe the good guys are interested in the 3 due to the fact that the "savage others" are interested.

You punks on the East coast enjoy, i will be around in 3 hours

Jack is crackers bananas with a crunchy nut topping. Probably almonds.

So White Henry's name is really Ben. Who cares?

and there were 10 minutes of commercials in the last 30 minutes. I don't know if 33% commercials is excessive, but it is damned annoying.

Mike Campbell said...

Yeah there seemed to be way to many commercials

"Tom is gay, lol!!"

I almost shot water out of my nose. I don't know what the initialism is for that.

aimee is lost said...

I didn't really think he looked like him, but I was expecting him to be familiar. He wasn't. My husband owes me $1.25 because I bet him Jack was going to put Juliet in a choke hold. He should know better. Dumbass.

We're going to have to permanently change Ben's name to "Boner" since Henry Gale's name is Ben. Otherwise it'll be too confusing. Sorry Boner, nothing personal.

Mike Campbell said...

How did they get those files. Cause that was impressive.

Anonymous said...

hey guys kate got tortured and they asked all of the information about jack and sawyer thats why ben said good work juliette because its a big mind fuck

by the way love fuckin old school myokmwsas

and im out

Mike Campbell said...

I am pritty sure there is only one group of others. I really think of this two groups chat needs to stop.

aimee is lost said...

Mike, I'm really glad you were able to watch.

I could get those files. Well, maybe not anymore, but I usetacould.

Mike Campbell said...

I am not seeing how people think there are two groups of others. Ethan and Goodwin were both given orders to make lists. We know that they dressed up to look like they were stranded on the island with nothing. They can also make those strange wispers. The guy that was in the cage next to sawyer looked like someone from the tail section (I went back and checked).

That makes it seem like there is only one group. Where does this second group come in?

I don't think "Karl" is an "Other Other"...I think he's against the "testing" that the Dharma peeps are doing to the Lost-aways. I think this kid grew up on the Island, like Alex (the Frenchie's daughter), and wants to help them from being treated as "lab rats"...Remember when Alex helped Claire escape?

It was eerie watching how Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are basically caged animals...and being observed like a science experiment...I can't wait to see what happens next!

btw, I totally called it when "Ben" asks Kate why she asked about Sawyer before she asks about Kate

Also, I can't wait to hear the J&J podcast...Jack's going to be mental because there is an underwater hatch!!

Anonymous said...

Oops...I meant when Ben asks Kate why she asked about Sawyer before she asked about JACK

my bad.

Ralph- said...

believe me or not, but i called it, as soon as juliette took the muffins out of the oven that it was the "good guys'" camp.

it was so similar to the intro to last season, that i was looking for the angle.

Jimmy said...

Ralph,
totally agree with the simalarities with the opening of season 2. Thought it myself.

And it was a bear cage !

Colours seemed richer this time around, but I guess the new settings and Kate in a dress made for a fresh look. Maybe more a case that we saw people on the Island in clean clothes!

Overall I liked it a lot...I think there are only one group of others.

I'm possibly suspecting that the Others are an extension of a cult or group of scientists and volunteers who have work that is so secretive, and so exhaustive that no one can know, an therefore replacements must be bred inter Island and/or aquired by good fortune.

They seemed genuinely suprised by the crash, and also oppurtune. Like "Here are some converts. We know what we need to do. Goodwin, make a list and figure out the good ones who would convert to our way of life/org/project. We'll fuck with them, give them the love and understanding they always needed and resolve these broken peoples lives...and they will work with us and become us. We are all therapists and psyche counsellors anyway, so we'll push all the right buttons.

That said I spent a lot of time last season claiming that the fever was making them all mad!

Isn't it great to have new material :)
Jimmy

Jimmy said...

That's why they want the babies and kids...easy converts. Baby's don't even need converting.

Mike Campbell said...

Good Point Jimmy, I still want to believe that the others are the people that Dharma were experimenting on and that they rised up against the captors. Thats why Julet was like "That was a long time ago" It seemed she was still kinda pissed about the whole thing.

I loved how the intro was like last seasons. Ralph good job on calling she was an Other i had no idea until the mini earthquake. and then my head explode

aimee is lost said...

I was disappointed by them using Elizabeth Mitchell in the opening sequence because we knew she was going to be an Other; they had already told us that. So when I saw her, I knew right away who I was looking at.

That's the only major difference for me, because none of us had a freaking clue who Desmond was during the season 2 opener.

DDK had better live up to his word because there was no action in the premiere and he said in his interview that Pod #1 was action-packed! I think next week is going to be a lot more active though, and I'm really looking forward to it. I miss Sayid and I want to see Desmond naked.

Kimberley, I'm totally on your side with the Karl theory; he's way too young to be a "seasoned Other". He didn't look any older than Alex.

Mike Campbell said...

I was kinda bummed that we didn't see anyone else in the first episode. I thought they could have throw in a little Locke and Eko. That would have been nice.

aimee is lost said...

Yeah Mike, like maybe in the final scene. There's only so much they could have fit into one hour though. It would have been better if they had made it a 2-hour premiere, the way they do 2-hour finales.

I still really enjoyed it, no matter what. I'm so elated right now to have some actual new Lost material, I don't even care what it's about. They could have had an hour of Jack telling everyone to run in circles in the jungle while it rained, and I still would've enjoyed it.

Ralph- said...

by the way, where are the children?

aimee is lost said...

They're at some snooty Others boarding school.

aimee is lost said...

Sweeeeet. I conned the IT department into installing the new flash players onto my computer, so now I can watch 3x01 @ ABC.com on my lunch break. Life is good. I like dumb people.

Official video podcast is up there also, fyi.

Ralph- said...

Aimee, it was Steven King's "Carrie"

aimee is lost said...

Awesome, Ralph. That'll be a fun one to read!

Ralph- said...

it will be pretty easy to keep up at this point huh?

aimee is lost said...

Oh most definitely. Reading the first 37 books in five months was the hard part. Now I can just read them as they appear. It's almost TOO easy.

I've thought about letting them all accumulate again, to give me something to do during the off-season, but this way it a little easier on me.

Ralph- said...

maybe you should at least hold out until our first hiatus

Anonymous said...

huh

aimee is lost said...

Yeah, that's a good idea.

I wonder if Stephen King knew they were going to do that. He probably went nuts, being a fan and what-not.

Mike Campbell said...

Is it bad that i am excited for the Official podcast?

DAMN IT. They said on the video there are two factions of others.

aimee is lost said...

Yeah Mike, I laughed at your expense when I saw that part, muahhahaha.

Is it just me, or did they pick some of the dumbest freaking people to ask questions at ComiCon? Are you telling me there wasn't a single Rolph-worthy question or theory caught on tape there?

Ralph- said...

they picked the lame questions so that they would not have to adress the hard hitting questions.

Mike here is the real question... Would it be bad for me to resubscribe to the official podcast, since i hate CC a lot less than i did before?

Mike Campbell said...

Ralph - I think you have to. Unless Ben watches it. Cause some of the stuff they talk about should be talked about on your podcast. Its my theory anyway that you should cover all the bases of something. And lets fact it There are a lot of jokes that can be made about them from that podcast.

aimee is lost said...

I told you guys, mullet. Jack's got it coming. The one that Kate chooses is the one that's going to bite it. Episode 4 is a Sawyer flashback, so that's probably not good news. Oh guano.

Benjamin said...

Welcome back, Lost! I missed you so. I will reserve my comments for tonight, and after.

However, I will ask if anyone watched The Nine. Because it was pretty damned awesome.

-Boner

aimee is lost said...

I used up all my brownie points with Brian to watch Lost last night(apparently 99.9% of television control belongs to him, and I get one day per year where he's not allowed to interfere), so I didn't get to watch The Nine. But I plan on watching it online when I get home.

Benjamin said...

Please do, Aimee. And everyone else, so we can all talk about it.

-Boner

ZeroNine said...

Thank God for the DVR/Tivo technologies. I have "The Nine" waiting to be watched as well as Jericho & Heros . I watched the Lost Season 3 premiere 15 minutes late and fast forwarded through the commercials, ZEN!

If my house catches fire I will grab my DVR first, then my Seasons 1 & 2 LOST box sets then my kids if I have any arm room left.

Benjamin said...

If I were your kid, I'd understand. "For the greater good."

aimee is lost said...

I will get to have Tivo as soon as Brian gets to have a big screen, which is as soon as I get to have a dog.

We have a hostage-negotiation style of marriage.

ZeroNine said...

No Aimee, yours is a normal marriage. Its a constant barter.

How does one live w/o a Tivo and/or DVR? The only downside is I am watching way more TV than I need to because you can record it all! Thank God most of TV is Crapola.

I will check out "The Nine" tonite, If I can barter my wife out of watching "One Tree Hell", which she gave up so I could watch the brain food we all call LOST!

aimee is lost said...

I think in order for it to qualify as a barter, someone would have to get their way without the other half getting really really pissed off.

Mike Campbell said...

Ben - I will check that out. I have been tivoing Kidnaped but that show sucks. I was wondering if the Nine was any good.

I think Jericho and Heroes are getting good. The last episode of both were the best so far. Of course there has only been two heroes.

ZeroNine said...

Mike I agree, Jericho and Heroes were very slow at first but they are picking up some serious momentum and their premises seem original.

If Jericho starts to fail they can simply rename the show to
"CSI: Jericho" and BAM! Instant ratings!

"Heros" is good, but very violent. I like it, but the wife freaked out over the copius bloody corpses.

Mike Campbell said...

What do you guys think of Jack Tackling his dad? I thought it was fricken sweet. People don't get tackled on TV enough and i am glad Lost is bring it back.

aimee is lost said...

I'd like to see Kate tackle Juliet. That would be funny.

ZeroNine said...

Jack tackling his dad was sweet, especially in the AA Meeting after his dad had been sober for 50 days!

But I gotta side with Christian Sheppard & his wicked grey Mullet. I hoped he was pouring the coals to Jack's smokin hot wife. Someone has to be man enough to since Jack is always hunched over crying his eyes out!

I agree about people not getting tackled on TV enough. If Jack was a real man he would of "sweeped his leg"! Now that you can never see enough of!

Scott and Steve said...

I say we change the name of the podcast to "Fish Biscuits."

Ralph- said...

I would listen to a podcast called Fish Biscuits!

the first thing that i thought when last night's episode started up was that you were gonna have to change the show title to "Downtown with Scott and Steve". that sounded a little...

aimee is lost said...

You should just traditionally change it every season, under the feed of the Lost Initiative.

aimee is lost said...

Or better yet, every episode.

Mike Campbell said...

"Going Downtown with the Fish Biscuits" is a very catchy title. It will grab those listeners back!

Ralph- said...

"Going Downtown with the Fish Biscuits" sounds pretty kinky mike.

aimee is lost said...

I think Mike just turned it into a dirty porncast.

Jimmy said...

Could this thread get any more naughty?

aimee is lost said...

We are the only explicit Lost podcast, remember? There's always room for more naughty.

Does anyone have the download links for MYOKoM Summer 1 and 2

aimee is lost said...

You should be able to find all of them here:

Ralph- said...

-the older episodes are on the right, where it says archive.

we are about to get going here, so wish us luck on our first post episode show.

aimee is lost said...

Good luck breaking our season 3 podcast cherries, Rolph & Boner!

I'll have to keep my iTunes open when I go to bed tonite. Hopefully it'll update before I go to work in the morning.

ZeroNine said...

Yeah I agree, change your Podcast name every week. My vote is "Zeke's Beard". Its a double ontondra. Referencing the duality of his beard. The literal fake beard he wore or the beard as his disguise for being gay.

Or Downtown Fish Biscuit works either way works for me.

Benjamin said...

urmothersmullet is my new favorite poster.

Mike, you're right about Lost bringing back the tackle. Shit, do you remember when Sawyer and Sayid had to break up Michael and Jin's fight? That was some hardcore tacklage!

Everyone consider your cherries popped (yeah right) because the new episode is up, courtesy of Ralph and Boner.

I hope Jay & Jack are ok. I just lifted this from CNN.com

Thousands flee toxic cloud
Half the 32,000 residents of a Raleigh, North Carolina, suburb have been asked to evacuate after explosions and fire at a hazardous waste plant shot noxious gases and flames 150 feet into the air. People "are putting themselves in very grave danger by being near or around this smoke," said Apex town manager Bruce Radford.

Did Jay forget to push the button?
