Carl Weathers: No... I love it.

Carl Weathers: Whoa, whoa, whoa. There’s still plenty of meat on that bone. Now, you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you’ve got a stew going.

Tobias: Oh, my God. You are Carl Weathers, the actor. I went to San Francisco to attend your stage-fighting workshop, but you never showed up.

Carl Weathers: I got bumped from that flight. Apparently, they give you $300 if you get bumped. It’s this crazy loophole in the system that the wrong guy discovered. Guess where I won’t be going?

Post from last thread no one will see: Anyone know Ava Maria from Hitman and how I can find it on iTunes?

PalmerEldritch said...

ave maria. with an E. wikipedia says its by Schubert.

if the spelling doesn't help then try to think of an artist who might sing it... like Paul Potts! :p

[ally] said...

I think you can't find it cause you're spelling it wrong. Try searching for AVE MARIA.

Steph, I looked it up on iTunes and there's one that sounds like the one from the comercial.

Ave Maria by Christina England.

Ally, you stole my favorite Carl Weathers quote. So I'll go with...

Carl Weathers: Now wait a minute. This is just purely a social call. You know, just two adults getting a stew on, man.

Buster: I don’t know what that means, but it sounds disgusting.

Trevor McFur said...

Why am I so tiny? And no, that's not what he said!

It's a nightmare buying classical music on iTunes if you care about what you're hearing. It took me ages to find a decent copy of Beethoven's Symphony No 7 in A major, Op 92: II. Allegretto (you'd know it if you heard it).

Curiously, that's the same version of Ave Maria I downloaded a while ago. I don't know if, by some amazing coincidence, it's the version from the film (any good, by the way?) but it's as clean and professional a recording of that piece as you're ever likely to find.

As much as videogame films tend by their nature to be pointless, they won big Chris Points for the inclusion of Ave Maria, having been a fan of its use in the fourth game in the series.

Sorry to post and run earlier Ally

Things are good. The Deuce is great, and is the noisiest, gulpy-est, snortiest bottle drinker I've ever heard - lol. It cracks me up every time, I feel like I'm cradling a nursing wildebeast or something.

The new house is quite nice...especially with my spankin' new LCD TV in it! Yes, there was a sale...I went...money was spent. HD stuff does indeed look awesome on it - Lost MUST return now! I cannot wait to watch it in HD. The tradeoff however, I think, is that standard def. stuff looks crappier on it than on a regular TV. The sound is better all around though.

Also, posted on the BBS - finally got to watch Pushing Daisies (episode with the equestrian/horse murders). Really great - original, well written and I'm interested in all the main characters. Good stuff.

Chris JC said...

Nautica Thorne!? I didn't know she'd crossed over to the mainstream.

Erm, *cough*, I mean - Nautica Who?

I can't get behind the Danielle Harris one - partly because she remains unclothed while having her interior explored with a butcher knife, but mainly because (like Ricci) I still think of her as a child actress so when they get 'em out I feel like a disgusting old perv.

My wife never understood his complaint of mine until Michael Cera got down to his underpants in Superbad, at which point she understood it entirely (and I hadn't even registered it).

I saw Hotel Chevalier, and the nude scene itself doesn't show you much ... I guess it's got that, "Wow, it's Natalie Portman's ass!" thing going for it.

And the two strippers in Knocked Up? Maybe scariest nude scene ever ... especially the one with the mishapen double-H's.

Stephanie said...

I don't remember the nude strippers in Knocked Up nor the nude Sienna Miller. I hate to hear Ashley Judd has been forced to resort to nudity.

I don't remember the nude strippers in Knocked Up

Here they are - Quite obviously NSFW

nor the nude Sienna Miller

Here she is: ALSO quite obviously NSFW

Good morning!

PalmerEldritch said...

isn't Sienna Miller just about always naked?

speaking of naked blondes, Hayden Panetierre was on some sort of Christmasey thing the other night on network TV and even though she was most likely wearing clothing, the pre-recorded Christmas message (in November) was filmed from her shoulders up with her hair covering the straps of her dress to give the illusion of Christmas nudity. classy!

Trevor McFur said...

There's no nudity that's more classy than Christmas nudity. Just ask Martha Stewart.

I've always liked Ashley Judd and thought she was a good actress. And she's never been shy about taking it off in her films, which is always a good thing. But I'm starting to wonder, is she a good actress who picks really bad films, or is she just a bad actress?

memphish said...

I like this video not so much for the writers' strike aspect as the stay-at-home wife one.

[ally] said...

Speaking of Christmas, no nudity involved, if you go to your local Wal-Mart and/or Lowes, you'll find the tags I designed for the Christmas trees. The fresh ones, not the artificial ones. I'll have to see if I can find a sample to show you guys what I do.

i've always been a fan of Ashley Judd, because i like her as an actress and i've always had a crush on her. She does get naked briefly in "Bug" but its not a sexy context.

I never understand things like Mr. Skin where they're happy to get a peek at BOOB no matter how awkward the situation (i'm sure "Schindler's List" has a long write-up). It's the same reason that "9 1/2 Weeks" is considered a sexy date movie even though the characters are completely despicable.

"Bug" is a really good movie though. It's a great return to form for Director William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection). It kind of got mis-marketed as a horror movie when its really a psychological thriller.

- I'm watching "Entourage" this week. I'm waiting on getting my hands on season 3 now. It's a fun show, probably one of the only meta-Hollywood stories that i actually like, plus season 2 featured my crush, Mandy Moore.

- what is it about "Pushing Daisies" that even though i absolutely love the show, i'm never in a hurry to watch it. I still haven't watched the Pee Wee Herman episode yet. I guess it's the self-contained nature of the episodes.

- Christmas spirit? wwwjbmovie.com

[ally] said...

Holli- I think if you ask nicely they'll help you take it to your car. I've never bought a tree there, but I have bought appliances and they always help carry that out.

Palmer- I still use Quark, but for the Lowes tag I used InDesign. CS is the most awesomest thing there is, no comparison to Quark.

palmer, I've watched most of season two via msn. I don't know why it's crapping out for you. Do what I do. Try over and over until it works. Highlights of season two- Wee Britain(Morgan's favorite), the Veals(as in Ann's parents), chicken dances.

The Wee Britain thing wasn't one of my favorites, no offense to those in Big Britain which is a favorite of mine. Dave Thomas' accent drove me nuts and I hated the "Mr. X" refrain. I know it was meant to be cheesy, but to me it played out long before they ended it.

looked her up on imdb. Apparently, contrary to MYOKMw/SAS rumors, Mae Whitman played Ann in all of her appearances. Marta was however replaced.

It's as ann as the nose on plain's face.

Fun fact: Mae Whitman also played the deaf version of Bionic Woman's sister, Becca Sommers, in the pilot.

Trevor McFur said...

There were two Anns. She was played by Allesandra Toreson in her first episode, and by Mae Whitman subsequently. I think that there might have been a big gap between Ann's first episode and her later episodes (like, maybe mid-late season 1 to early season 2).

memphish said...

Steph,

I went and bought the tree by myself yesterday. Got it off the roof of my car and into a bucket of water by myself and then insisted I have help getting it into the stand and house last night. The new stand was great. It turned out to be a lot less painful than usual. Then I got all the boxes from the attic myself. Put the lights on myself. Unpacked all the ornaments myself. Then the kid helped with the ornaments. By the time hubby got home this afternoon, it was all done and all the boxes back in the attic, and I had even showered. I'm over this being a family thing.

memphish said...

Palmer, I don't know anything about them re-airing Burn Notice. I guess it all depends on the strike. It could be something they'd run marathon form over the winter if this was a typical season. "Tired of unending snow and slush; watch women in bikinis, Bruce Campbell in loud shirts and we promise Michael will take his shirt off at least once per episode. Burn Notice Marathon on USA."

I also don't know when there will be a DVD. The first 4 episodes are up on USA's website and only the pilot on Hulu. Sounds like they don't want you to catch up.

Interesting comment section in that article.

More not so good news about the strike.

Trevor McFur said...

Can't say that I quite understand what the purpose is of the pencil thing. The Jericho campaign worked because it showed there's a lot of support out there, not necessarily being reflected in the ratings, for a show that was probably just on the wrong side of bubble in terms of being canceled. Do the studios really care if the fans are on the writers' side when, from their perspective, they're looking at millions of dollars worth of loss? Do they think the fans won't come back once the strike ends?

PalmerEldritch said...

actually, trevor, most studio heads are vampiric undead and, though they have graphite in their middles, a delivery of a thousands wooden stakes sends the message that the writers are deadly serious.

Hearing you mention snow made me pray that our weather doesn't turn cold and freeze, because people here are fairly inept and use extremely bad judgement when dealing with snow, ice, and driving their car. Granted the terrain can be challenging, and the city doesn't salt the roads and is usually ill-prepared in general when it comes to snow and ice, but I don't remember scenes like this growing up in the Mid-West.

PalmerEldritch said...

mb, re: HD. blu-ray looks friggin sweet. i imagine that HD-DVD looks the same. you'll need cables that can carry a 1080i or 1080p signal. my PS3 came with component cables that i think would only go up to 720p. they may try to sell you an HDMI cable that can go 1080p for 90 bucks (americano) but you can get a comprable cable without a brand name for five or ten bucks. i got mine from www.monoprice.com but i think jordan found one at a local mom and pop computer store for about the same price (if not better).

research the heck out of it ahead of time so there are no bumps in the road. and just in case i've given you poor advice! :)

Carl Weathers and Bill Duke from PREDATOR. Bill Duke was on a Sawyer Episode of LOST! Also, footage from PREDATOR was used in AD. plus it totally looks like Carl Weathers is teaching Bill Duke some moves!

THURSDAY!!! refresh your iTunes late at night!

Thanks much Ralph - I WAS curious about the blog pic as well,
but I was wondering aboutt the pic Ally posted of three guys (one of them obviously blue himself).

Who are those guys in the pic you posted Ally?

I randomly found those guys online, I have no idea who they really are. They're supposed to be Tobias, Michael and Gob. Although the one that's supposed to be Michael looks like Buster and the one that's supposed to be Gob looks like Michael. Tobias [the one that blue himself ((twss)) ] is the only one that looks accurate to me.

Trevor McFur said...

I can see the bike helment guy being Michael, but I think he kind of looks like Buster too (the guy actually physically looks like Buster a bit). The other dude should trade the jacket in for a Hawaaiian shirt, he'd look like George Michael.

What I really think is, one dude dressed up like Tobias, the other two dudes just came from work as losers without costumes and that's what they came up with. I give the Tobias guy a little credit, but I think that if he was truly brave, all he's be wearing is a pair of cutoffs.

Speaking of George Michael (Michael Cera), Juno comes out this Friday in LA/NY. Anybody going to see it?

Still haven't heard when it's releasing here, but I'm dying to see it.

Interesting nugget re: Micheal in S.4 over at the SPLOG

let the speculation begin... (for those who read)

The reviews for Juno are stellar. I can't wait to see it.

ever since the end of season 3 we mentioned that there would be only 2 episodes of the DHARMAlars until Lost returned. One was the Comic Con episode and the other was our DVD Preview a week before the DVD release. I was supposed to get the Blu-ray dvds yesterday so that we could do our annual preview show, but with each day that i dont have them, the pre-view becomes less and less impressive. Our preview show should have been up by now, but it may not be up until tomorrow, but that is doubtful...keep your fingers crossed that i get the discs today, otherwise we wont have a show for you until Saturday. i hate recording on the weekends.

ralph-, you are wrong. Anything Dharmalars does is impressive.

I'd like to second the impressiveness that is Dharmalars.

- i really like the trippy aesthetic
- Matthew Fox = stunt stubble
- Spridle looks like a 50 year old man's head on a 3 year old's body
- Chim-Chim = Real chimp!

- Pre-ordered the Lost Season 3 boxset from the 1982 Sears Wishbook & Amazon. We'll see which gets here first.

Ally - I want to see the stuff you posted but the links aren't working for me.
Man, I used to look thru the Sears catalog every Christmas and salivate over all the toys (it was disgusting).

Trevor - that's funny and creepy at the same time.

Who the hell thought that the element they needed to sell clothing was a clown? lol.

the fact that the PREview will not be as PRE as we had hoped, makes it less impressive. A week early sounds better than 1 day early, which is what it will end up being, most likely

MB- for some reason when i do links they don't always work. so here is the link for all of the sets of pictures from this guy.

I'm terrified of that child on the clown's lap. MB, I'm with you on loving the Sears Xmas catalog. By 1982 though, I'd moved past Sears to Saks and Lord & Taylor.

Ralph, even if its not a preview you and Ben should still do a podcast about the DVDs. The fact that you won't get it that much earlier than the rest of us slobs makes you a man of the people.

ralph, tell me about your blu-ray machine. 1080i or 1080p? screen size? what titles have you watched so far?

Crank on Blu-Ray blew my freakin' mind.

Remember that over here in The Land of Wonky Teeth we've had the LOST Season 3 box since late October - and all we had to do was pay the equivalent of $120+

You can't say fairer than that.

CLICKETH HERE FOR SPEED RACER TRAILER

memphish said...

The Speed Racer look is certainly interesting. I used to watch that show as a kid all the time. Thank you Ted Turner! Then when we were legal driving age we would drive through a twisty-turny neighborhood with our lights off and say we were playing Speed Racer.

I just noticed that CBS and NBC have announced their winter schedules. Hopefully ABC will follow suit, maybe today, maybe Monday and we'll finally know when LOST will return.

Can't say that the trailer makes me all that excited to see Speed Racer. Looking forward to The Dark Knight trailer hitting the web ... I've heard that there's gonna be a seven-minute trailer in front of I Am Legend.
