what's up, people?

Family Guy special Star Wars episode last night, anyone? I'd say "Exceptionally Good!"

[ally] said...

I saw some of that Family Guy, what I saw was good. I couldn't sit and watch it (as in I didn't have time), but hopefully I'll catch it on a re-run.

Heroes premiere tonight! Anybody planning on watching Journeyman afterwards?

SOPRANOS QUESTION

how many season's did the show go? 6 or 7?

memphish said...

I enjoyed Family Guy. The scrolling paragraphs were the highlight. And it was related to LOST.

Tonight I'm taping Chuck and watching Heroes and giving Journeyman a pass. Tomorrow I've got to remember that Reaper is on. Wed. we're leaving for our Chicago trip (see the message board for more details) so I'll miss The Office premier Thursday. It will be the first thing I watch when I get home Sunday.

ok, so "Chuck" seems an awful lot like "Jake 2.0" since it's a tech guy who becomes a secret agent. and the dude looks like a cheap rip-off of Jim from "The Office." i wonder if the show will kick butt or not. and when does "Caveman" premiere? ;)

/went with the quotes today

Sopranos went 6 season, but they split season 6 into two parts.

PastPablo said...

Ok, thanks Mike.

Kevin Smith was on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me this weekend. They ask him questions about mad scientist experiments.

p, Caveman premieres next Tuesday night.
Can't wait for Heroes since I will be recording with the 3 Heroes tomorrow. Will turn my life upside down to make sure I can make it.
Will watch How I Met Your Mother before Heroes tonight. Will try to see Reaper and Cane tomorrow night. Definitely will see Bionic Woman and try for Dirty Sexy Money Wednesday. OMG Earl and The Office Thursday. Next week- Aliens in America, Caveman, and Pushing Daisies. Too much tv, not enough time. When am I supposed to do life? I am stressed out.

[ally] said...

The time has come for us to put our lives on hold to watch some TV again. My friends don't see me too much when new TV is on. I'm waiting on pretty much those shows that Steph mentioned. Can't wait!

I believe that, as a Lost fan, I have a duty to boycott Cane, in the hopes that the show is cancelled and Dr. Eyeliner can return to the island, where he belongs.

Harsh, but necessary.

PalmerEldritch said...

true dat.

Bail Antilles as an evil Sugar exporter? no, thanks. i'd rather have Dr Eyeliner on LOST.

elias said...

Cane does look good though, unlike the rest of the fall schedule.

DVR it, magic box it - we all know they don't count towards the ratings.

How many shows is William Fichtner in this year?

[ally] said...

Cane looks interesting, I'll be checking it out. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I have nothing else to watch in that time slot.

Jordan said...

DVR's really are awesome. However, mine ruins my life this time of year. It used to be that for me to get into a show, it took a lot. To change your schedule for a show that you don't know is any good is a bit much. But now that I can from the get go record just about every new show and give them a chance, now it's like homework keeping up. I just hope that enough of these shows are obviously crap so I don't have to waste too much time with them, only to see them canceled. The worst thing is a show that you aren't quite sure if you like it or not, only to realize after it was canceled halfway through a season and you watched every episode, that you really didn't like it to begin with. I got my DVR set up for pretty much all the shows you guys have mentioned. Cept Cavemen. I will not put myself through that.

[ally] said...

I've only seen him in one, Prison Break. Why? Is he supposed to be in any others?

[ally] said...

Me too, no Cavemen!

PastPablo said...

I for one enjoyed the caveman commercials. I won't be watching the show tho. In all fairness I'll only be watching the office anyway. no big stretch for me there.

memphish said...

I hate everything to do with Geico, but it's personal. They are a former client of mine and they were an awful client (computer job, not law job, so no confidentiality problem).

I just realized the other day that the Geico Gecko seems to be David Brent from the British Office. I'm probably the last person in the world to get this reference, but what can I say, I'm slow.

I can't decide about Cane. At first I'm thinking that if I don't watch it we'll get Dr. Eyeliner back, but since I'm not a Nielsen household will it really matter if I watch or not? I don't know. For the next few weeks at least Damages is still airing on FX at that time slot, so I'm torn.

That cane show looked terrible to me. and i'm only going by seeing the Billboard for it (i've never seen a promo for it).

*elitist*

memphish said...

An elitist that wants to watch Cavemen. Interesting PastPablo.

PastPablo said...

No NO i don't want to watch Caveman, i said i enjoyed the commercials.

lol Jordan,
I was just thinking the exact same thing re: DVR's. I absolutely LOVE my DVR, but 'DVR management' totally does become another weekly task. I've got to make some room this week for the onslaught of stuff coming my way that I want to check out. It ALMOST sounds like a chore doesn't it? Yet you'd have to pry my DVR from (Charleton Heston voice) my cold dead hands.

I am definitely interested in Bionic Woman - hope they do it well.

memphish said...

Sorry for the misunderstanding Pablo.

I agree with Jordan and MB. Podcast management can be equally burdensome. Right now I'm in good shape on both my podcasts and my DVR. Being out of town most of the this week and next weekend is going to put me behind on both counts though. I only wish someone would pay me for this.

Another photo angle of the KC Wolf takedown. Too bad there's no video from this perspective (yet):

Beatdown.

Funny stuff Trevor. We had a drunk dude run onto the field at the Hawks game yesterday as well. The guy almost made it all the way down the field. It was a bit of a let down though because it looked as if he was going to run full spead head on into an on-coming security guy, but at the last moment the drunk guy stumbled into a summersault.

The crazy thing about DVR's is that they help you consolidate your tv viewing by allowing you to watch when you have the time as well as shorten it by fast forwarding through commercials. However, with the ability to watch stuff whenever, it also cause you to watch more than you would have.

Trevor McFur said...

I have a lot of TiNo's on my TiVo ... stuff that I've recorded that I'll never watch. It's gonna get a lot worse with Heroes starting, and three new shows that I'm planning to watch (although who knows if any of them will actually make it).

I think that getting drunk and getting taken out by security is bad enough ... but when the mascot gets involved, that's just embarassing.

memphish said...

For those of us longing for my Dr. Eyeliner, let's hope the public agrees with this reviewer.

Holli

[ally] said...

I can't say that I didn't see that coming, anytime they have a show with big name actors, it's bound to not last. Either it sucks or they can't afford to continue making it.

Stephanie said...

I always record a bunch of stuff then am afraid I won't have room for something I want to see more than what I have recorded. Then I erase stuff that I may be in the mood for at a later time. When I need something to watch, I have nothing that looks good. I have 5 or 6 Hitchcock films on now and am afraid I won't have room for the new premieres. I'll fight the urge to delete.

PalmerEldritch said...

ok, just saw the family guy star wars thing. pretty darn entertaining.

now, prisonbreak and heroes. w00t!

mb, how was the Bionic Woman on the rest of Jekyll? she was pretty good in the first (and only) episode that i saw.

i guess i should watch the rest sometime, eh?

PalmerEldritch said...

oh. and expect a BLOGSPLOSION after Heroes. lets hope that Kim or Aimee starts a new thread after 10 eastern.

hint hint, ladies. :p

[ally] said...

WOW! Heroes was awesome! It seems like they tried to pack a lot in one hour, but then again, if it would've been 2 hours my head would've imploded!

Palmer, I didn't know you were also a Prison Break fan.

PalmerEldritch said...

well, seen Heroes. now, i need an outlet for my thoughts. c'mon, timezones, catch up!

PalmerEldritch said...

prisonbreak fan indeed. even when it got weird and un-prisoney. i could do with that naked guy wearing some clothes though... :\

PalmerEldritch said...

ok, ally, i threw up a thread at the SAS forums.

I thought it was ok ... just like last year, it got a lot more interesting towards the end of the episode. I loved the scene where HRG put the smackdown on his boss (I kept calling him 'Randy'). It looks like they've dumped some of the dead weight characters, too, like Matt's wife and Nathan's wife (I'm glad to see Mrs. HRG and Mr. Muggles made it, though).

I hope that Hiro gets back to the future ASAP...

PalmerEldritch said...

i'm just waiting for Hiro to say YATTA! so i have an excuse to post this gem from internet past.

Anonymous said...

Palmer. What the bloody hell was that!?

And am I alone in thinking that present day Hiro is about the most annoying goddamn character on the whole show?

Future Hiro is way better than present Hiro.

mb said...

Palmer - I thought Michelle Ryan was one of the best things about Jeckyll. I liked most of the series (the first two episodes or so especially), but some of the drama went pretty melodrama and I didn't buy into it. But the good parts were really good I thought - including Michelle Ryan and her fabulous lips. Sorry for drooling folks - but she is pretty hot.

Jordan said...

"It looks like they've dumped some of the dead weight characters, too, like Matt's wife and Nathan's wife"

Yeah, and from what it seems, DL isn't on the show for the time being. They broken up all the couples, freeing everybody up to get it on!!! Nice!!! lol.

PalmerEldritch said...

anonymous, that is (apparently) japanese tv. saw that years ago without the subtitles. i'm not sure that the subtitles make it any less weird.

maybe there's a reason they usually stick to crazy ass gameshows, eh?

YATTA!!

memphish said...

Heroes -- to me a was a little boring and glib. Talk about a reset. In a mere 4 months you can heal from 4 gunshot wounds to the chest (cough bullsh** cough) and get a divorce in California (cough bullsh** cough) and adopt a girl you have no ties to (cough bullsh** cough). And you can be holding your atomic brother and not die and yet inherit the hooker you slept with in Vegas's creepy and boring split personality mirror bit.

Here's the real question -- Nathan's beard or Future Jack's beard? I have to go with Nathan's for authenticity.

HRG is still my favorite character and it felt like I was watching Mr. Cluck's own Randy as the boss. Claire's new boyfriend is a special huh?

Mohinder and Parkman are Chuck and Larry.

Any guesses as to the hooded guy who shoved Mr. Sulu over the side and what happened to him? And what is Maya's power? And what was the weird camera angles when Mohinder and the Primatech recruiter were talking?

I'll be watching next week, but they better pick up the pace or this will be one that starts languishing on my TiVo (see yesterday's discussion.)

Holli

P.S. I forgot shirtless Peter. Never a bad thing, but amnesia?

PalmerEldritch said...

Sulu's role fell a little flat.

Holli, I think that what happened when Nathan & Peter went up up and away might be one of the mysteries of the first month or two of the season. I hope, at least, it would be pretty weak if it was just kind of like, "Oh yeah, he just survived".

I thought that Nathan Two-Face in the mirror was foreshadowing. God I hope it doesn't mean that he has Nikki power.

My prediction for the hoodie man is Kensei (Kenzie? Kenzo?). Someone said Peter, which is probably a good thought if he's been 'programmed' somehow to work for the baddies.

memphish said...

Trevor I hope they'll explain the Petrellis, especially Nathan as well. The mirror scene gives me hope that they will. It's time to end the mirror obsession though.

I have so many questions still like what do Mrs. Bennett/Lyle think their last name is now. She says Bennett at dinner. Do they know they're in hiding?

Ruling on the blog, should we discuss this here or just on the board?

Holli

memphish said...

Of course, I posted that and now I'm going to be AWOL for the next 3+ hours, so I guess I'll find out then.

Trevor McFur said...

I hope that they haven't made Mrs. Bennett dumb & clueless again. I was glad to see that Mr. Muggles made it.

PalmerEldritch said...

a) i hope Mr. Muggles has a power and b) new thread!
