Anyone watch Reaper tonight? I enjoyed it ... good goofy fun with more than a few laugh out loud moments.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS!

/4 = Kablamo, right?

PalmerEldritch said...

kim brings her A game! yer damn right it does.

kablamo loud and proud.

how awesome was Dre's call? talking about watching the muppets with his daughter. that was great.

what'd he call it? "The Muppets Take Fucking Manhattan?"

Looking forward to the podcast as I scramble to get everything ready to leave for Chicago this pm.

I watched Reaper. I enjoyed it. It did have its LOL moments and the special effects were cool. I loved how the lady in the DMV signalled Sam. Hopefully the supporting cast will pick it up in coming episodes. Mom, Dad, Andi were all a little weak to me. I love the crap Sam and his buddy gave his brother about Stanford.

Jay should watch this episode especially given its hockey rink and Ghostbusters homage.

Any show that uses the line, "Eat it, Heat Miser!" is gonna be all right by me.

This is what makes me mad about Heroes:

If you watched the Heroes premiere Monday night you might be pondering the fate of George Takei's character, Kaito. ''Nothing is what it seems on the surface of Heroes,'' he tells Entertainment Weekly. Takei, 70, says we will see Hiro's dad again.

Man, if you die, die already. Death has to mean something.

On a related Heroes note, I totally didn't know Andi on Reaper was the shape shifter on Heroes.

So what shows are people watching tonight?

I'm recording Dirty Sexy Money and I'll admit it, Gossip Girl. I saw the Pilot and it was way over the top, but kind of fun. I may switch to Bionic Woman next week though. I've already seen Bionic Woman on the interwebs, so the DVR gets GG.

LOL Palmer, Kenshite had a fucking atrocious accent too but I did enjoy the episode.

Saïd Taghmaoui gets no respect from The Lars? How would you feel if he bombed YOUR baby?

PalmerEldritch said...

bionic woman tonight! that show looks like it could be good or bad. the bad guys and the japanese guy were cool. i'll be wearing my free Bionic Woman shirt. i just hope its not too much about Bionica Jones' personal life and is more about Bionica kicking ass and taking names.

what the heck is the Bionic Woman's name? and why am i too lazy to google it?

Trevor McFur said...

I hope it's Jamie Summers. Or, even better, Lindsay Wagner.

PalmerEldritch said...

Miss Summers! that's the name.

yeah, she keeps the name from the old show. and David Eick said they'd be putting in the familiar "bionic sound" somewhere in the episode. so, we can look forward to that.

memphish said...

The Lindsey Wagner version of Jamie Summers was one of my childhood heroes. We'd spend hours jumping off playground equipment making bionic sounds.

As for the new BW, we need next week's episode to really tell where it's going. Pilots talk too much.

PalmerEldritch said...

are they going to start streaming episode of The Office on NBC.com now that they're not selling it on iTunes?

aren't they not selling NBC shows on iTunes anymore? right? maybe?

PalmerEldritch said...

ouch.

hope she had a bionic hoohah or that would frickin hurt.

memphish said...

I agree -- yowch!

My understanding is that NBC will make their shows available, including The Office finally, for at least 1 week after airing. Last year they kept their shows up longer than that, but only certain shows. I guess it depends on how things go, but no iTunes for NBC.

Um. Three Kings is great. Rollerball is great. The one with LL Cool J, not so much. Hey, I see Naveen Andrews is the the crappy one.
I wanted to be the Bionic Woman too, Holli. But more than that, I wanted to be this.

- the scuttlebutt from the Jay & Jack Ramblecast featuring MFing Jorge Garcia was that NBC wasn't going to sell episodes with iTunes anymore. They'll be streaming the episodes on their website, so i'm guessing that it has something to do with ad revenue and exclusivity.

-i'm watching the 1st season of Dexter. I'm through the 1st 4 episodes and it's definitely growing on me.

-DVR'd Reaper, but there's something about the show that's scaring me off, so i haven't watched it yet.

-i really don't need another TV show right now. i'm watching:
Steelers games
Weeds
Dexter
Curb Your Enthusiasm
The Office
Robot Chicken
Minor Accomplishments Of Jackie Woodman (its season just finished though)
The Daily Show / Colbert Report
Mythbusters
M.A.S.H. re-runs
+ (when they return)
Lost
Battlestar Galactica
The Wire

As far as I know, it's like this (and I may be a little off here and there)....

NBC are going to be streaming from there website but you have to watch the commercials...unable to skip through them.

You can also buy the NBC shows starting in October through Amazon. Amazon also launched their music service today'ish, in which they will sell all their musc without DRM. In otherwords, I can buy a song off Amazon and play ity on my iPod...or if you had a Zune you could do it too.

The video for Amazon though is not yet "portable", and cannot play on Mac's. So there are plusses for consumers and minuses. Personally, I think ultimately NBC will suffer from not having iTunes as an outlet.

Trevor McFur said...

If there's no bionic sound, then she ain't The Bionic Woman.

I wonder if Oscar is gonna be in it. And what about Steve Austin?

memphish said...

A review of the Amazon MP3 Store. Sounds like it's lower DRM prices may give it a way to swipe some iTunes business. We'll see if iTunes follows suit and drops their prices.

Holli

memphish said...

Sorry DRM should read DRM-Free.

I don't know how late into the conversation this is, but tonight's TV for me includes:

Top Model
Gossip Girl
Dirty Sexy Money

I really wanna check out Bionic Woman, so I may have to replace Gossip Girl.

Top Model and Gossip Girl, I feel like I'm 13 all over again...

PalmerEldritch said...

ok... Gossip Girl? from under my rock, i've heard nothing of this until the other day on the blogspot.

Gossip Girl is Lindsey Lohan's life if she went to an Upper East Side prep school. 90210 meets kids who need rehab way more than the 90210 kids did.

PalmerEldritch said...

so, is it a comedy? a soap opera? a dramedy?

I'm all about Top Model and Gossip Girl. Guilty pleasures.

Is anyone checking out Private Practice?

ok, just me?

[ally] said...

I don't think I'll be checking out Private Practice, cause I wanna check out Dirty Sexy Money, which is on at the same time. I might tune into it for a little while just to see what's going on, though. I'm excited about Top Model tonight, since they finally do a real photo shoot.

Palmer- Gossip Girl is a soapy show, kinda like The OC, except in NYC.

PalmerEldritch said...

Private Practice sounds like what Officer Shortstack was up to in Aimee's office... :\

PalmerEldritch said...

oh! and thanks, ally. i'll now be careful to avoid Gossip Girl. :p

[ally] said...

Palmer-
I didn't think you would be interested in something like Gossip Girl, but at least now you know what it is. At least we still have other shows in common like Prison Break and Heroes. Oh and that other little show we used to watch... It seems like forever ago...

Wait a second ... hello, Victoria's Secret commercial...

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, wasn't as impressed with the finished product.

but still Sarah Corvis, Daddy Anthros (?), and Jae the Japanese American badass were still pretty damn cool.

the sound seemed off. maybe re-dubbed since the comic con pilot? or maybe their sound mixer just "touched it up" a little more and over did it?

the sister is a thousand times less annoying than the one in the comic con pilot. so, that's good. unfortunately, now she's some sort of 133t hax0r or some shit. she's not allowed near a phone cable. or an ethernet cable like the one Bionica Jones was holding for that matter.

the comic con pilot was pretty cool but that may have colored by the fact that it was on several jumbo screens and danny bonaduce was in the audience.

i'll be tuning in next week as the show has a lot of potential. potential to be pretty cool, or pretty sucky. we'll see what they focus on. hopefully, it's her saving the world and fighting crime.

Trevor McFur said...

2nd half hour was a little better than the first. There's potential, but hopefully they off the boyfriend and the sister. Scary that they've tried to make the sister LESS annoying. It was a BSG reunion, though ... Starbuck, The Chief, Baltar's lawyer...

PalmerEldritch said...

ROMO LAMPKIN! that guy inhabits that role. he did a line or two as Romo and it was like a switch was flipped and suddenly he WAS Romo Lampkin. very cool.

further the BSG reunion, the street thug was in the BSG mini as a Viper pilot who gets kablamonated by the Cylons in the original attack on the Galactica.

Tigh needs to show up as a guy with a bionic eye.

Trevor McFur said...

Yeah, that dude was the man. I hope he comes back this year.

Bionic-Eye Tigh ... I like it...

HOTEL CHEVALIER

[ally] said...

I didn't watch much of Bionic Woman, but the little bits I saw... there was a lot of ass kickin' going on.

I'll have to catch up the episode online later.

mb said...

Downloading Hotel Chevalier now - I'm intrigued, I know nothing of it besides it's Wes Anderson who tends to be great.

Just finished Bionic Woman - very much agree with Palmer - plenty of potential. Also agree with Trevor (and Palmer) that it was...a bit flat (outside the ass-kicking scenes which were pretty good).
I wasn't too impressed with the writing or, to my genuine dismay, Ms. Ryan - maybe it was the writing, b/c I liked some of her moments, and I definitely liked her in Jeckyll.

As long as we get Bionic Dog at some point, I'm all good ;)

Jordan said...

I haven't been too impressed with any of the new shows that I've watched so far. Bionic Woman was kinda, eh. It could get better, but the premiere didn't knock your socks off by any means. And yeah mb, the writing seemed a bit lame. I am a bit hessitant from some things I've read about the show. Sounds as if they've redone and rewritten a lot of things before it ever started. And some writers quit over creative differences or something like that. I really didn't think much of Reaper. Just not my cup of tea tv show wise. Chuck was kinda funny. I'll give it a couple more ep's. The only show so far that I think could be pretty good is Cane. The potential drama between Jimmy Smits and Richard Alpert is very intriguing. Gotta love the whole Michael/Fredo kinda Russell Crowe/Joaquin Phoenix thing.

Stephanie said...

You guys have already said everything I had planned to say about Bionic Woman. Big disappointment. I love Katie Sackhoff! She should have been Jamie Summers. If the sister you resent so much leaves you for a few days to go skiing, why would you be so freakin emotional when she returns? Wasn't she supposed to be played by Ann from AD? But deaf?

andrew. said...

Warning: Do NOT download the Dharma Water Cooler commentary for the pilot from the Lost Podcasting Network.

i hate to be negative towards a fan who was fired up enough to podcast, especially in our long, dark time of need, but this was comically awful. He doesn't make a single observation, and just breathes heavily into the microphone for an hour

Trevor McFur said...

Steph, I thought the exact same think about Starbuck ... she would have been a great choice to be Jamie. I've never seen the actress who does play her before, but she seemed kind of blah to me ... we'll see, I don't want to write the show off after one episode. But it's hard for me to see the show picking up a significant audience outside of sci-fi fans based onlast night.

I heard that it was actually supposed to be Maebe Funke who was supposed to play the sister. That would have been too distracting for me.

Anonymous said...

The sister was originally supposed to be deaf, but replacing her with the cute little computer hacker was one of a few last minute changes to the show. Thats never a good sign for the stability of a fledgling show.

PalmerEldritch said...

the deaf sister was the most annoying thing in the world.

and i guess that the deaf were upset because the actress wasn't deaf and sucked at sign language.

as bad as Sister-Hacker is, Sister-Signer was worse.

Trevor McFur said...

Sister Signer does sound bad. Too much potential for "Tonight, on a very special Bionic Woman..."

Anonymous said...

so i thought that bionical woman show sucked butt hairs. the writing was bader than crap. like the little girl in the car who said "i just thought it was cool i girl could do that" and when the battlestar chick said "without being melodramatic, let me introduce myself". uck. im predicting that show doesnt make it the full season. i give it about 7 episodes. the main girl isnt the best actress and more importantly isnt that hot. not the cutest face. the girl from reaper who was on heroes would have been a better choice.

elias said...

Michelle Ryan is a dodgy soap actress and I was suprised she landed the gig in the first place.

San Diego Swastika Building

PalmerEldritch said...

the little girl in the car was AWFUL writing. right on.

the Heroes girl on reaper? is that Candace the Illusion Girl? nah, not bionic enough for me.

i have no idea what that means.

anyhow, i'll stick with Bionic Woman for at least a couple more episodes. i'm really hoping that it lives up to its potential. more along the lines of the stuff with Jae and Sarah Corvus, less along the line of annoying little girl in the car.

mb said...

anon - semi-agree w/you re: the quality of the show. totally disagree with you about Ms. Ryan - I think she's pretty hot. Great eyes and lips particularly.

mb said...

re: the little girl in the car - "nice Superman rip-off" was my immediate (sarcastic) thought.

Jordan said...

I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one who groaned at the little girl in the car's line. Is it bad that I wanted her mom to slap her? Yeah, the writing on that show wasn't too hot. I think that will be what prevents it from ever realizing it's potential. That and none of the actors on the show seem too interesting.

And btw, happy Office premiere day everybody!

PalmerEldritch said...

if Bionica Jones is about her whuppin' ass, then the show will be cool. if its about her whining and being emotional and crap, then it'll stink.

and did anyone else think of Dharma Whipped Topping during the Bionica/Starbuck throwdown?

[ally] said...

KABLAMO!

[ally] said...

who needs dharma whipped topping when you have rain, lots and lots of rain!

Trevor McFur said...

I thought, "Nice Superman ripoff" too, at the car scene. I also thought, "Nice Spiderman ripoff" when she jumeped between the buildings.

I think that the Bionic Woman is a hottie, so no problems there for me. But she doesn't seem all that interesting ... whether it's the writing, the acting, I don't know. A lot of good shows start off weak, I'll keep watching to see if it rights itself.

Trevor McFur said...

jumeped?

PalmerEldritch said...

is a jumeped like a moped crossed with a pogo stick?

For all the Bionica fans out there, curtosy of Kristen @ EOnline:

"Bionic Woman on NBC (this Wednesday): The pilot is strong but I've heard it falls apart in the second episode, so the jury's still out."

Anonymous said...

She also had this to say:

"Life on NBC (this Wednesday, Sept. 26): I just watched the second episode and would like to say for the record, I am now officially obsessed with this show. This drama about a wrongly accused cop (Damien Lewis) who is freed after 12 years in prison is awesome--the new House! And the second episode is even better than the first."

Anybody watch that show last night? Any good?
