No, You're Not Hallucinating

We really are down to our last TWO weeks of waiting for the Feb 7th premiere of that one show we all like. After that, all these bullshit discussions can actually be about something new.

For now, post your thoughts on your favorite part of Season 3, episodes 1-6. What did it for you? The return of Boone? Naked Desmond? More bad wigs?

Only one more non-Lostnesday left after today. The excitement is starting to build up.

The Top 5 Things I Love About Season 3 (so far):

1. Boone - he looked amazingly hot, I wished I would've noticed him before he died.

2. Exhibitionist Sex Scene - I heard there was some steamier footage shot that they had to cut out (because ABC is so family friendly I guess.) My theory: After Ben shut off the power to Sawyer's cage, Sawyer should've figured out that they're being watched. So, this has to mean Sawyer is a pervert, but that kinkiness doesn't make him any less attractive.

3. Jack turns a new leaf - I was surprised to see him try to get Kate out of there, after seeing the post-coital moments with Sawyer. In season 2, he was a total asshole that gave her the silent treatment because she followed him in the Hunting Party. I don't want him to die anymore, because I really like season 3 Jack.

4. Hallucinations = Smoke Monster - It was a strange reveal, but I still liked it (especially when it was confirmed by Cuselof) So...does this mean that Christian Shephard, Walt, and that Black Horse were too? Wait a sec, Kate touched the horse, so does that count?

5. A Second Island & Otherville - How these things were never discovered by Rousseau after 16 years is BEYOND my comprehension, and gives me reason to doubt that she is who she says she is. It still blew my mind.

Mike Campbell said...

I also loved the Old Smokey. I have been wanted to know more about that since the start of the show. I am worried their answer for the Smoke monster is kinda lame, or will be a let down and thats why they only give one or two pieces of info a season.

Who is going to be the next to die? I saw charlie in episode 11. Then there will be a big celebration. Even the smoke monster will go to the party.

aimee is lost said...

Chances are good it will be Paulo (Aimee crosses her fingers that Nikki is caught in the crossfire.)

But most likely, Pickett will bite the dust first.

Ralph is on The Price is Right now! I told some of the officers here & we're all watching it right now.

casey_donahue said...

oh shit I just saw ralph!

Mike Campbell said...

I just saw him too. How crazy is that

casey_donahue said...

this is so strange, I just saw ralph and ben and starlight, or sunshine something like that

Ralph- said...

My favortie part is when i totally psyched out Coop!

Actually i think that Every Man For Himself had some fucking badass moments. The heart monitor, the bunny shaking, the revealing of island 2... so much stuff

aimee is lost said...

EMFH was the most intense of the six, because it had so many things like that.

But I also forgot to mention the scene in I Do where Pickett is about to shoot Sawyer. I knew they weren't going to do it, but I was scared shitless for about 1.5 seconds.

aimee is lost said...

That Sunlight chick is weird. But that old Christmas lady is weirder.

Ralph- said...

that day was a blur aimee, i cant wait to watch it. If Sunlight would have looked at me during bidding, she would have made it up on stage...oh well, i guess she has to just sit there and wave to the camera when Rich reads off their conselation prizes. boo hoo Sunlight, to bad you didnt know the awesome power of Ralph and Ryan's bidding skillz!

aimee is lost said...

That was so awesome. Ralph got a lot of screen time, but I only saw Ben once.

Anonymous said...

Ok...I got everyone at work to watch The Price is Right!

I was laughing uncontrollably when I saw Ralph. I'm like, "I know him!" LOL! Good Times.

What I loved about Season 3 so far:
-the first 5 minutes
-Jae landing on Jin's car in the Glass Ballerina
-Desmond's new "powers"
-Tom "Friendly/Zeke" is gay!
-Paulo
-The new guy with the eye patch
-The entire episode of Every Man for Himself
-Jack seeing Kate for the first time after being caputred--that scene was cool, with the reflections on the glass and stuff
-Fish Biscuits

What I've hated so far:
-Mr. Eko's death
-Not enough Sayid, that dude is kick-ass
-Eko dying
-Nikki
-No more Adwale
-No mention of Penny Widmore
(btw, in some Canadian previews, we see Penny and flashes of the Widmore logo)
-Oh ya, Mr. Eko fuckin' DIES!

The Jack & Kate scene was very tear-jerking for me. But I think I already confessed that about 75% of Lost makes me tear up.

Can anyone tell that Kim is still bitter about Eko's smoky departure?

Jimmy said...

Alright...Season 3 (So far)

Likes:
Ben reciting "Of Mice and Men"
Bunny rattling (I hate rabbits)
Kate walking to the beach for coffee
Nikki in a tank top
World series sequence

Dislikes:
The Sawyer/Kate thing (bored)
Desmond's powers
Mr Eko's wrap up
Paulo's acting

Most potentially stupid future plot lines:
Desmond's powers. I feel this is fucking stupid, though can't put my finger on it.
Sun's baby and it's paternity (like we really give a shit?)
Jack and Bai Ling (OK, anything Bai Ling gets into is a joke, lets face it?)

Cheers,
Jimmy.

Mike Campbell said...

Jimmy i aggree I am not into the dez special powers. I hope they have a good way of explaining it. Maybe his flashback episode will explain it by showing us what he experiences. Maybe he has a dream and awakes and some of the stuff is the same.

casey_donahue said...

i am also an advocate of hating desmonds powers, its too comic booky if all of a sudden he gets these powers because of a freak science experiment, i hope it doesnt play out like that

Jimmy said...

Well here's why I think Desmond's powers are a load of bollocks!

The first inkling when he mentioned Lockes speech was poorly acted...right out of a 6th grade school play.

It was followed by a pretty well filmed, spooky cliffhanger ending with him skipping stones, and Hurley looking suspicious. I thought "Hmmm...could be cool".

Then (as mentioned) next week the music was really shitty when it cued the "New Desmond". Plus, the acting was again really shitty with him trying to figure out how to get Claire and Aaron away from the tree. I was rapidly losing interest at this point.

Finally (and this is coming I guess), I hate the prospect of a convenient plot device. Are we to believe that anytime there is a dire situation, Desmond can just magically predict it and get us out of a scrape? Terrible if that is to be the case.

I often think similar of the "Holodeck" on ST:TNG A convenient device for many a diversion of plot line, plus it seemed every 3 weeks we would end up with Picard dressed as Sherlock Holmes!

Stephanie said...

Oh Lord, Jimmy are you a Trekkie?:)
I confess. I stayed up late during college to watch and couldn't figure out why I had such a hard time staying awake during my first class. I don't know why I've always been in denial of my sci fi geekiness. I thought I just had a thing for bald men.

3:1 Jack learned to "let go" of Sarah. Now he's free to fall in love with Kate.
3:2 Sun's a liar.
3:3 Locke lost his faith in the island and the island had to make him regain his faith. I'm not impressed with TOQ's acting this season either.
3:4 Sawyer learns to show his emotions. And cool stuff happens too.
3:5 Eko was not a priest. So, I wasn't upset that he died. However, if you'd asked my opinion last season I would have rather Sawyer died, that's how much I loved Eko at one time.
3:6 Kate learns to stop running. Not the best time. Nathan Fillion and sex scene involving Sawyer- Awesome!

What more can they do with Kate, Sawyer and Jack in their backstories? Or anyone else for that matter.

Stephanie said...

The polar bears- I felt like the writers said "You wanted polar bears and here they are." It just sucked.

Stephanie said...

Best scenes- The Other's camp, Kate and Jack touching hands through the glass

Worst- polar bears, burying Eko

I hope I don't commit homicide at work teaching these computer classes tomorrow.

Stephanie said...

If TOQ's acting left alot to be desired this season, Foxy on the other hand was much better than last season.
I think the reason Boone stands out to you more now, Aimee, is because he's like 4 years older now and not a kid.

Jimmy said...

Steph,

I was never a Trekkie, or Trekker (I know there is a difference, apparently) but did like the show. Both the original and NextGen. It died with Voyager...there was never any saving it after that. Also, the whole concept, idea and direction became stale. Basically, it ran it's course...30 years isn't bad.

Hated Voyager, arguably the worst cast show in tele history. I gave Enterprise a fair chance and got bored pretty quick.

I agree with TOQ's acting. He seems a bit forced this season. Too much of that soft, gentle voice and kind eyes...like he's trying to over do it. Nikki can act!

I want a guest spot...I'll request to be Desmond's brother in a flashback.

aimee is lost said...

Lost has always walked a fine line between supernatural and scientific, and so far, they've managed to explain things okay. But once they get to Desmond and the smoke monster (which they've already claimed isn't nanobots), I just don't know how they'll pull it off "realistically".

BTW, we have a new MySpace page for Kim & Aimee at:

More Wii news- I heard about a guy that is using the Wii as a weightloss system. He lost 9 lbs in 6 weeks. There's supposed to be a vid on youtube but I couldn't find it. The intro is him doing Rocky and climbing the steps in Philly.

Season 3
Likes:
- Hydra Station - cool location. i like that Benco don't have a big fancy compound with jail cells, that they just moved into the old Dharma station and threw the losties into the bear cages and shark tank.

- Season 3 Jack - he's tired of this shit, of being fucked with and not getting answers. He's a badass but he's still noble, which is why he gave up his own freedom to save Kate & Sawyer because he saw that they have something to live for, even shipwrecked on the island. what a mensch.

- Alex - as long as the writers don't do something lame like make her acts of defiance being part of a larger Benco mindfuck, then we've got a cool rebel character

- Desmond's Powers - I agree that it will be super lame if they retroactively make Desmond a psychic all along. His character is very intriguing with out that. But i really like the idea that the hatch implosion was more eventful than a light show, and that Desmond is now struggling with his sanity Vs super powers.

- Smoke Monster - When Lost began, the monster seemed like Truckasaurus, busting through trees and eating pilots and shannons. I was pretty disappointed that they made it a little whisp of smoke. It would be one thing if it was a huge ominous dense cloud of doom, but they made it look like a cigarette trail when it darts around trees. The fact that it can take any form it wishes brings back a little of the intrigue. I hope the writers use this creatively. Why not make a 60 foot Yemi pound the snot out of Echo?

Dislikes:
- Characters learning/figuring out things the audience has known for a long time - 'hey, there's like a bunch of TVs in here and stuff', 'lift up your eyes' and even to a degree 'we're on another island, which would explain why we kidnapped you on a pier and took a ferry'

- Echos death - spent an episode saving him from polar bears just to have him get bounced off trees by a tendril of smoke. it revealed the shapeshifting talents of the monster but was still anticlimatic.

i'm really excited for Lost to be back on. It's going to be awesome to have so many back to back episodes.

It will be nice when podcasts have more to discuss and theorize on, and aren't spoiling the rest of the season for a lack of things to talk about.

- watched The Price Is Right last night. There's a great shot of Ralph standing up when they announce the dinette set. i laughed a lot. Also how awesome were the prizes in that first showcase? All-terrain vehicle??!!

andrew.

aimee is lost said...

I was cracking up when I saw Ralph stand up for the dining set, that shit was awesome. There were a lot of people getting close to that 1.00 spin, and a lot of winners. I was surprised nobody won the showcase. That would've been me though; I'm terrible at TPIR. I bought the DVD game, and I'm ALWAYS overbidding. I come in last place every time.

Mike Campbell said...

One time i was watching the price is right and i bid within 200 bucks. I would have won them both. I was proud that day. Not many days like that...

mike,
Veronica Mars is surprisingly good. When i watched disc 1, I was pretty lukewarm and just had it on as background noise while i drew, but they really did a good job of expanding the big mystery while simultaneously producing good standalone stories. Sometimes i'm reminded that the characters are pretty highschool people, and i feel silly watching it, but i can't front, i enjoy it.

I had Blockbuster online, which is pretty much the same thing, but they gave me free in-store rentals every week, which was nice, so I could grab the hot new releases without waiting for them to arrive in the mail.

aimee is lost said...

I just looked at TVguide.com and fast forwarded to 2/7, which is up there now, to look at Lost's episode description.

Remember how last season they were playing NCAA basketball instead of Lost over here? Well, 3x07 is on there, but the clip show that comes on before Lost isn't... because of basketball.

I know it's not much of a loss, but what are the odds the game will run long, and 3x07 (or any future episode for that matter) will be cut, and I'll end up missing the first 5-10 minutes.

Mike Campbell said...

I can't imagine Lost being bumped for basketball, i kinda hate the sport, its coolege basketball too that is bumping it right? I don't know why but i can't get into college sports. So aimee if that happens even i will write a letter. just come up with an address for me.

Mike Campbell said...

The week Lost comes back on won't be too hard to stand because The Science of Sleep comes out the 6th. So we can all watch that a few times and cherish it. Then the next day its Lost day. Woohoo

Let me get this clear. You guys want your life in the hands of our federal government? I don't propose to have any answers and there has to be change but have you been down to your city hall lately to buy a cartag or anything? The last time I went, I was chastized for walking down the wrong aisle and there was nobody else in line (which is a VERY unusual situation). Our government has screwed everything else up and we don't need their hand in something as precious as our health. OK, fire away.

I emailed our CW affiliate and The Simpsons were moved back to a watchable hour so maybe you can make a difference too, Aimee. And back when the Sept 11th news was going on and people here were fussing because they were missing Days Of Our Lives, the station began reairing it at a different time. But NCAA Basketball, I guess, is a big money maker and I suppose that makes all the difference. Maybe you need to contact ABC network directly.

Anonymous said...

As crazy as Evangeline thinks the Lost fans are, NCAA fans are just as crazy and 10x as aggressive. I do a radio show and every year our radio station's audio bleeds onto the television station that airs the NCAA finals. It's the local cable company's fault because they didn't properly shield their wiring but, every year, all of the angry basketball fans (and i don't blame them for being annoyed) call my show with death threats.

Steph,
i understand the retiscence to trusting healthcare service to government beuracracy, but health insurance companies are just as big and unwieldy beuracracies, plus they have a conflict of interest because their revenue stream is based on denying coverage. i don't have health insurance because i'm self-employed and no company will cover me. As i get older it stresses me out to no end.

On a happier note, i'm listening to the soundtracks for El Topo & Holy Mountain today. Hooray!

TJ

Ralph- said...

i would like to see a good quality version of that video as an easter egg on the Season 3 dvd

Mike Campbell said...

That was great.

Anonymous said...

That last episode of lost leaked is really funny. Awesome.

Can we talk about Heroes again for a minute. A couple things after watching last nights episode:

I thought it was the worst one so far. When it was over, I was kind of disapointed at the episode.

Anyone else think that Mr. Invisible is actually a horrible mentor for Peter. I think Claude is actually going to end up being a bad guy. He was blatently stealing from other people at the restaurant. He has a questionable character in my opinion and will try to corrupt Peter. Thus the laughing in Peter’s dream. He is evil and wants New York nuked. Just my theory

Also...based on the preview for next weeks episode, a bunch of people online have been bringing up that they think that was Nathan who will end up being Claire’s father. This is based on what the guy looked like without seeing his head in the preview clip. Unless of course they just weren’t screwing with us and the video showed of the guy sitting down actually had nothing to do with the voiceover about Claires father. We've seen plenty of screwing with the Lost audience in the Lost previews, so I wouldn't doubt it if Heroes starts to do the same.

- SadAce

aimee is lost said...

The first thing I thought was that it was Nathan also, but as is tradition with Lost, they're probably making us think that on purpose, only to pull the rug from under us. We can pretty much assume that Claire's father is someone that we know, but Nathan seems too obvious.

My guess is that it'll end up being someone like Linderman, or even worse, in some cruel sense of irony, her real father will actually be Mr. Bennett (her fake father).

On another Heroes note, I had an amazing Peter Petrelli dream last night (but not the kind you would imagine, or I would hope). The details are fuzzy now, but I remember that I was somehow romantically linked to him, only I couldn't be near him, because whenever he touched people, it would kill them or something, kind of like Rogue. I remember he touched my hand, and it started to freeze and turn blackish, like when you get frostbite. But when he pulled away, it would fade. If he would've held on, it would've killed me. It was a cool dream, not a scary dream. It's too bad I couldn't make out with him; better to imagine that Michael Emerson (I'll never get over that one).

Speaking of Heroes... Battlestar Galactica was pretty bad this week. I don't know if i'm just reacting to the fact that i'm all caught up and watching it in weekly increments, but this episode was a total waste of time. To put it in Lost terms, one of the characters lost their wedding ring.

Aimee,

if you want to speak BSGese, Netflix it. the mini series was kind of blah until the second half but the first and second season are most entertaining. season three is good for the most part but there's a crappy love quadrangle that no one can stand.

i'm confused. Are you trying to disuade her or convince her that it's the best thing ever?
i still have the action figure.

andrew.

Stephanie said...

The blooper reel was great.
Andrew, I feel the same. I think it's like ralph- said about Lost; you get caught up on dvd and having to watch week to week is a let down.
James Callis is the best actor on tv. All that with him and Roslin was great. And Gaeta may replace Helo as my favorite guy, but I hear we get alot of good Helo coming up. I'm so bored with the Lee/Kara/Anders/Dee story. Starbuck is one of the most intriguing characters on tv but I don't know why Lee would be love with her unless he wants to fix her. Anders definitely is better for her. Well, not better for her, because they would end up like Tigh and Ellen. But he understands her and excepts her for who she is.
I thought Linderman would end up to be Claire's father at first, but I like the idea of Peter being her uncle. One thing about Heroes, they are not limited like Lost. They can go anywhere. That's the way we roll.

Although, I can't sit through an episode of old skool BSG. Did you see their Triad/Pyramid uniforms? ACK! Not enough eye bleach in the world to get that image out.

Anyhow, I'm fairly convinced that Henry Gale and the Others are the descendants of old skool BSG's thirteenth tribe. Just ask Kent McCord.

childern of men was amazing. I think the look of 300 is amazing but i am not that interested in seeing it. I read the graphic novel and liked it. But then i saw they were going to put it on Imax. Now i can't wait to see it :)

Back to Lost, BSG geeks!

**SPOILER** (don't go down if you don't want to be disappointed - i've heard that before!)

Episode 11 is called 'Enter 77' - and Shannon is in the credits! I know some of you know that already, but i miss her.

The Synopsis says Hurley finds an old car - please, almighty god, be that fucking gold pontiac bonneville.
