Back to the vampire talk. Like Chris said about a doomed romance, maybe it's about lusting after something that you know you can never have.

Jordan said...

Thanks Aimee. I was just about to go to bed. If I have nightmares (or the opposite), I'm blaming you.

Jordan said...

Fully agree Steph.

aimee is lost said...

LOL. The previous thread was getting full, so I thought ya'll could use a new one.

I don't have much input on vampire talk. I have Twilight on DVD, but haven't watched it yet. I'll probably save it until I read the book first.

scrdmnkydst said...

Don't do it Aimee...! It's really, really bad. Only watch it if you're going to have a rant about it on next week's TLI.

Or maybe just have a rant anyway. Either's fine by me.

I had managed to de-Mader my brain, come back to the computer and there it is again.

A good vampire novel, acutally Dracula novel, is The Historian if anyone is interested. It made me want to travel to Eastern Europe. I read Sunshine in the last year. It had a Twilight sort of feel in terms of "loving" a vampire. Didn't like that much. Never did Twilight, but back in the day I read a ton of Anne Rice's vampire and other novels. I enjoyed them at the time, but I don't know how well they've held up.

how many strips of bacon are in a baconator?

Chris JC said...

How much Rebecca is in a Madernator?

Stephanie said...

Palmer I need your help. Can't get my math to work.

PalmerEldritch said...

i ask because for $0.99, you can get a value meal bacon burger thing from wendy's with two strips of bacon. a baconator is almost $6! so, bacon per dollar, is it a better deal to get multiple $0.99 bacon burger things rather than a baconator?

and, yes, i didnt get any bacon. i was good and got chicken. which is still prolly very bad for me. but not AS bad. right?

PalmerEldritch said...

uh oh. math?! blech! hit me up in your hw thread? :)

PalmerEldritch said...

six strips of bacon.

and something to cleanse the palette of that weird 'mom on a cruise' pic of ms. mader:

something sexy SFW

Jordan said...

Palmer, I normally go with the $0.99 jr bacon cheeseburger. I think there are 6 strips of pretend bacon on a baconator. But the baconator also has an extra hamburger patty. So the you're paying an extra $5 for an extra patty and 4 strips of fake bacon. And the baconator doesn't include lettuce as the jr bacon cheeseburger does. For the price of a baconator, one can get 6 jr bacon's, and get 12 pieces of fake bacon, and 12 patties! Not to mention tiny bits of lettuce to ballance all the bad food. Value people, value!

Triple Baconator!

Our inevitable future.

PS - go to youtube and type in 'bacon song' and see how many different people have made up songs about how much they love bacon. What a world we live in.

/waiting for one of the resident vegitarians to tell us we're all going to die when we're 40.

Why is not the Lositles podcast on scott and steve blog?

Ralph- said...

I can post the Lostiles podcast on the blog, but i feel like Kim and Aimee sorta made this their home, and am enjoying their shot to stardom!

Scott said...

Ralph, what baseball field you at in your photo icon?
Did you go to Spring Training?

BTW, I think the Lostiles should be posted here too.

Unknown said...

I think Ralph is right. This place has become TLIs home. Ralph has a new home, which is awesome and gives his show its propor do. also it would be over crowded i think. I do not post often but read everyday. just given my 2 cents.

What do people think about Ben dying and becoming a Christian type spirit along with John Locke? we would have Locke, Ben, Christian, and Claire as the island spirts. Then maybe it would be explained that they are who controls the destiny.

scrdmnkydst said...

I don't think that having Ralph post his and Dylan's Lostiles podcasts on here would make it too crowded at all. It wasn't crowded at all when the Dharmalars was posted here. I don't see why it would be any different. It would also be like a homecoming for Dylan too, seeing as he was part of a podcast that started the blogspot in the first place. If anything, Ralph and Dylan have all the right in the world to post their podcast on here. And I really doubt that Kim or Aimee would object either.

PalmerEldritch said...

man, i hope Ben's not dead. baby ben. not big ben.

if he's not dead, and getting shot doesnt mean you're dead, then it's much easier to deal with.

so, please, dont be dead.

Ralph- said...

"Ralph, what baseball field you at in your photo icon?"

Hey Scott, that was from El Diablo Stadium (angels' training facility in Arizona) many years ago. As you can see behind me, Mickey Hatcher (a hero of mine) durning batting practice, wearing the late nineties "swooshy A" version of the California Angels Jersey.

Ralph- said...

Here's what i did. I went into the Lostiles' settings and set it up so that when you enter the comment section it goes to a "full page" mode, similar to this one. This way we can all see our avatars and dont have to bother reading who is posting. We can just look at the pretty colors.

ALSO, i disabled the "word verification" function. now you dont have to input those swirly words that they ask you to input.

It will be more "spotter" friendly

Zombies are even worse than Vampires!

I say this because the Frankenstein Monster (Frankenstein is the scientist who made the monster) is basically a zombie.

What's cool about zombies? I don't even see how they're frightening.

Films give them too much credit. If they have no brains, then it would be really easy to kill them.

If, however, they do have brains, then you can just give 'em 6 Jr. Bacon Burgers and befriend them.

scrdmnkydst said...

Dude, you're so not getting the zombie thing.

They're basically humans that have been restored to factory settings. They only have one basic function, to feed. I coul ramble on about some sort of psychoanalysis and the Id, but I won't. What makes them so scary is that nothing, barring some sort of trauma to the brain or spinal column, they're near unstoppable and they want to make you just like them.

Zombies are the source of one of my favourite ever films, Dead Set. It's written by Charlie Brooker and was originally shown on UK tv as a mini series, but it works much better as a 2 hour movie. Basically the plot is, the UK is under a zombie attack and one of the safest strongholds against them is the UK Big Brother house. It's very good. It's not really that scary, but it made me jump more than a few times and it's genuinely funny in a dark way. Social commentary about reality tv is rampant.

ramble ramble 7am ramble.

Frank Einstein is a zombie and he is smart!

I would for sure be friends with Frankenstein's Monster.

Unlike other Zombie stereotypes, F's M does not seem to want to eat anyone. He just wants to be accepted and later on left alone.

I have seen so many variations that I don't even remember what the original story was.

I'm not sure if I like the 94 Mary Shelly version or the 1931 Universal pic more.

If I had to pick I'd go with the '31 version for nostalgic reasons, but both versions are great.

Having said all this, I still thing zombies are weaker than the already powerful weak Vampires.

I would go . . .
1. Werewolf
2. Vampire
3. Zombie

I'm too tired to come up with other types of monsters right now.

Anonymous said...

Ahhh. . . I guess the Crow is a zombie too and Eric Draven is pretty bad ass.

I think I was originally hating on zombies 'cause Resident Evil has made me think of zombies as pussies. You're just killing them left and right.

Aww man, that destroys my list.

New list.
1. Zombie
2. Werewolf
3. Vampire

I'm waiting for the argument on how vampires are better than werewolves.

It depends if it's the purposefully transforming type or moon transforming type.

Chris JC said...

The other thing with zombies, at least in one of their more popular guises, is sheer weight of numbers.

In a real situation, even if you start off well armed, eventually you will find yourself out of ammo either in an open environment, too high or too low in a building. You ARE fucked in a zombie apocalypse - it's just a matter of time.

So remember to acquaint yourself with Ralph's Rules for Surviving Zombies.

The only two I remember are: get hold of an edged weapon and get a pedal bicycle.

Chris JC said...

Vampires don't just turn into bats, by the way, they can do wolves and stuff - and also become a fine mist.

Anonymous said...

A vampire turning into anything but a bat is bs.

I can accept them not turning into bats and just being able to magically fly and some how having super strength, but the other stuff is fake.

Chris JC said...

I love that we're talking about what is and isn't fake when we're discussing VAMPIRES.

Anonymous said...

Ha ha ha.

My point was, when you thing of vampires you think Dracula or a creature with fangs that feeds on human blood, etc.

You don't think, oh that creature can turn into a wolf.

Also, be careful where you tread on the internet in the next couple of days. there's a bit of a massive spoiler doing the rounds. don't want you all to be spoiled like i did.

Chris JC said...

I decided to embrace the spoil. If it's as prevalent as you say then I figure that it'll be hard to avoid (especially when people like to do run by spoils on here and especially on UStream).

I will wait and see if it was a wise move.

The Lost Lunatic said...

I was spoiled on the ustream and i want to file a official complaint! not cool tli fans! You have made lost not as cool for me.

About vampires and zombies. Vampires all the way. If you dont understand the brilliance of Twilight I dont know what to say to you. Maybe Herlihy needs to read the books to understand. They are amazing. Maybe some of you are just too old to get it all. Vampires are way better than zombies. Its not even close. Zombies just sit there and are boring.

Do you guys think that Boone might come back as an island spirit? Like Christian Sheperd and Claire I think it will happen. We all know that Boone would make the show so much better. It has not been the same since he left. Fingers crossed. ; )

Chris JC said...

We're too old to understand vampires? The centuries old literary phenomenon based of further centuries of folk legend?

The Lost Lunatic said...

Herlihy I wanted to let you know that I am a fan of your hair style. Looks great. Also you have really long arms.

The Lost Lunatic said...

No JC, too old to understand the apeal of Twilight and the new breed of vampires.

Chris JC said...

Maybe, but to me it doesn't really seem that dissimilar to the Anne Rice stuff and a lot of female-written vampire love fiction it's just that this one managed to connect and was written for an audience of teenage girls - possibly with a view to making them subservient to emotionally controlling men (but that's probably another argument). The success of it makes it look like it's something new is all. It's like some people think J.K. Rowling is the only person to have written about young magicians and fantasy schools (The Worst Witch, for one, springs to mind almost immediately).

But enough of that - Twilight seems to work for you and that' cool. It doesn't hold much interest for me but trying to ruin something that you enjoy holds even less interest for me.

I preferred A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The Lost Lunatic said...

"subservient to emotionally controlling men"? I find your words offensive JC. : (

Chris JC said...

I intend no offence, I promise, that's why I tried to stop this disagreement in the last reply.

In that case you probably won't like to hear how it's a "a depressingly retrograde, deeply anti-feminist, borderline misogynistic novel".

Anyway - again: glad you enjoy them. Sorry to everyone else for my waffling.

scrdmnkydst said...

Aiden - I'm a 21 year old with asymmetrical hair with a massive fringe/bang (depending on where you are from) that regularly veers from fire engine red to jet black with numerous piercings and a love of "emo" music. I pretty much think that I am in the demographic for the Twilight books. Well, apart from being male and such. I've read a few chapters of the book and thought it was really badly written. Needless to say that I don't understand all the hype about the trend.

Also, thanks for the hair compliment. Also, being 6 foot 8, just slightly under 2 metres I believe, I do seem to have quite long apendages.

Ahem.
