I'll be in Vegas for 1 night this June. Can't commit to next May at this point though.

Back to the Travel Channel. We love to travel. The thing we always try to do when we go on trips to Europe, the US too, is to try to base ourselves in one place for long enough to get to know it. So, for the most part we don't try to do multiple countries, and we almost always spend at least 3 nights in one place. (The Vegas reference above being the exception; that is just jumping off for a weeklong stay near Zion National Park.)

If you spray gold metallic spray paint on styrofoam it causes the styrofoam to start dissolving. If you spray it on your thumb, it just doesn't come off. Who knew?

Chances of a spoiler seg this week - %20. I'm f-ing sick. AGAIN!

I'm officially notifying the CDC in the hopes that my house will be locked down to prevent any further infection.

however - very psyched to see that this Vegas hootenany has moved one step closer to reality! w00t!

Wow. If I can get my passport sorted in the coming year then it's really a choice between Jay & Jack's 25 Hour Podcast 2010 if there is one, which there probably will be, or this.

I surely can't do both cos one would involve going to the US and staying there for a couple of months which I can't afford, or flying to Raleigh, flying back then flying to Vegas a couple of months later which I, well, can't afford.

However, despite the fact that I have interest in Vegas as a PLACE, the idea of this is winning big style because of the people.

Although if I did Raleigh I'd have a greater chance of meeting Steph which I'd very much like to do.

In summary then: ARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!

Cool. Let me know what happens.

Being from LA, going to Vegas is not a huge undertaking. (I suppose Ralph can back me on this)

Please continue to post details on the blogspot.

Back to the British TV shows talk. Red Dward is much better than I expected.

There really hasn't been much to discuss re: Lost. I blame this on the last few subpar episodes.

Most questions at the moment probably surround CW, Desmond, Locke, and Faraday. None of which have been featured on the show in some time.

I mean there was a lot of "Is Ben Dead?" talk initially, but now we're not even debating who's cooler: Vampires, Werewolves, or Zombies.

PalmerEldritch said...

who's cooler? Zombie Ben? Vampire Ben? or I Was a Teenaged Dharma Wereworlf Ben?

memphish said...

I want to go on record that if Jack and Juliet save Ben it is the lamest thing to ever happen on LOST including Jack's salty comment to Bai Ling. If they don't twist it up somehow, this little run of episodes may usurp the cage episodes as worst of the series.

Unfortunately, I just don't see myself getting out to Vegas. If the economy holds up, I should be able to make it to Raleigh to meet Chris. NC isn't far at all from here. I wonder if Jay hates me for calling him a snob.

Stephanie said...

I agree, Holli. Been there. Done that.
Where you doing arts and crafts today?

PalmerEldritch said...

uh... no. it is lamer to watch jack taste "salt" on the lips of a thai ladyboy prostitute.

just saying.

PalmerEldritch said...

also, new avatar in honor of the latest PauseCast and its subject matter.

"I" have to build an Ark of the Covenant. I was working on making the angels and wanted to use styrofoam balls for their heads to go with their clay pot bodies and styrofoam hearts cut in half wings. Instead I used to modeling clay for the heads and cardboard for the wings. I'll be painting again tomorrow, weather permitting, because the fumes in the house, even if you paint outside and then bring them in, are awful and give me a headache.

Nope, sweaty Thai prostitute is less lame than spinal surgeon workman saving Hitler.

Indeed, Palmer, it's funny that ThaKid give red Dwarf a go now as it's the subject of the latest PauseCast with Alirio (Ep 7 - "A Seriously Fun Time")

Before you listen, though, be sure to make note of Space Corps Directive 5796. 'No officer above the rank of mess sergeant is permitted to go into combat with pierced nipples.'

all this talk of the Anti-Bacon needs either more cheesecake from Andrew. or...

an article about bacon!

"I'm officially notifying the CDC in the hopes that my house will be locked down to prevent any further infection."

Too late. It seems to have made it's way up I-5. As I am sick as a dog myself. Think I have the flu or something. I have a fever, chills, cough, all the fun stuff. UGH.

And Chris, I realize your reasons for wanting to go to the J&J thing. But it sickens me to think of your first and likely only visit to the US being Raleigh f'n North Carolina. That is depressing. If you end up going, you have to also hit up NY or somewhere decent on the east coast as well. Because nobody in their right mind should spend that much and fly that long to visit North Carolina.

Jordan said...

Speaking of Vegas. I just went to this seminar and told them no for a hour and got a free flight and accomidation to Vegas. And it's good through June 30th, 2010. So depending on other particulars, maybe it might just work out. Seeing as how if I didn't have a free ticket, I would likely never have considered going. :P

memphish said...

On the plus side for North Carolina, you can go from the beach to the mountains without leaving the state. Yes, they are puny mountains by Western US standards, but they are still lovely, and the highest east of the Mississippi.

Hope you West Coasters get well, and that you keep your illnesses contained west of the Rockies.

I too have been horrendously ill. I'm not kidding when I say I remember watching LOST Wednesday night...then I just tossed and turned and sweated in bed and it was suddenly Sunday morning. I got up probably less than 5 hours in between...a total blur.

No podcast as a result, and trying to get one out soon.

Am in for Vegas though...

Am I the only guy here who'd do Bai Ling? C'mon!

Alirio said...

I'm in for the VEGAS thing...

I am also offering accommodation in Montreal for Chris if he wants to camp out for a couple months in between events.

That is if you don't mind spending time in a former British colony... :-P

SMEG!

Jordan said...

The sickness got Jimmy too! The NW is doooooomed!!!!!

Chris JC said...

Alirio, you raise an interesting proposition. I guess it depends how I'm earning my keep by that point, and how much my wife would want me to spend a couple of months out of the country.

Jimmy, Bai Ling is way bangable. There are some people on this blog who have said they would literally rather fuck a goat. I don't get it. Is opting to fuck a goat supposed to gain them respect or something? Just admit that you want to bang Bai Ling people!!

Chris JC said...

I find the false bravado about famous women that some men claim they wouldn't have sex with (disregarding those who have sworn off sex or are very committed to an existing partner) usually fairly suspect but, were there a choice in the matter, if she were interested in me and ("Stick it in Maggie Q") were it right, and appropriate to do so:

Bai Ling in The Crow: YES
Terrifying, threatening, shoplifting, make-up caked Bai Ling: LESS SO

We may go freaky about the nipples but they are a common design for women of Ling's origin.

Yes.

Chris JC said...

Oh, silly me, there were other kinds of men that I left out of my run down in the previous post. I'm normally very good about that sort of thing.

John V. Holder III said...

Ahh, that's right. It was Herlihy and the goat did in fact have syphilis.

The Bagel, The Rattlesnake, The Frozen Donkey Wheel and that other one I can't remember.

Apparently, the codename for the massive jaw dropping scene in the season finalé is being decided by the fans out of 13 possibilities.

* Baby Diaper Covered in Barbeque Sauce
* The Droids You're Looking For
* The Exploding Pretzel Jar
* The Fifth Toe
* The Fork in the Outlet
* The Hooded Leprechaun
* Jack Gets Pregnant
* The Joop
* Smokey's Dorm Room
* The Spanish Inquisition
* The Twinkie
* The Zeigarnik
* The Zombie Bake Sale

Which one would you choose? I'm thinking the hooded leprechaun sounds like the best one.

Chris JC said...

I think we should ignore it and make our own suggestions:

The Massive Wank
Plum-Master
John Fashanu
Friday, I'm In A Pit of Skeletons
The The
The Allman Brothers Band
Time Fuck
Batman's Sack
Genesis of the Daleks
Planned Since the Very Beginning
MEGAFACK
Inside a Whale
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
We Lied: This IS the Last Episode
It's All Gonna End Like Vanilla Sky
The Pie Scoffer
Keith
THX-1138

Ugh. This is terrible. I was able to stay asleep for all of 3 hours. When I fell asleep, I was freezing, so was wearing lots of clothes and blankets. Then I wake up with a fever and am burning up. This is miserable. Jimmy, MB, I feel you pain brothas. So if that foot thing was The Hoppening, what's this? The Sickening: NW Edition? Beware East coasters and midwesterners. It's only a matter of time...

In response to Bai Ling "controversy" (barring stds and monogamy) all you need to do is put a paper bag over her face and draw a picture of Kate on said bag. Then hit it from behind.

I don't know why no one said how good Red Dwarf is a long time ago. Even the theme song is awesome.

I also don't know why Herlihy was clowning the production quality. It's a sitcom. The production quality is probably better than MI-5. Again I only watched episode 1 of MI-5, maybe it gets better.

scrdmnkydst said...

AWOOGA?

The Android guy reminds me of Max Headroom.

Anonymous said...

/ what happened to Jimmy?

scrdmnkydst said...

I wasn't "clowning" on the production values, I was just saying that keep in mind that the show was made in the early eighties and therefore shows that sort of production values.

For me, it adds to it's appeal, but for other it could distract.

But then I'm the sort of person who would revel in playing Ocarina of Time more than Twilight Princess.

/zelda nerd.

memphish said...

These April Fools stories are annoying, and it's only 6:25 am.

Chris JC said...

Also, ThaKid, it would appear that you might be watching some later series. what happened in the one you saw recently?

Anonymous said...

The last episode I saw they changed bodies.

Herlily, Ocarine of Time is nostalgic for you? What about A Link to the Past or Legend of Zelda?

I have Twilight Princess on Wii but haven't opened it yet. I actually downloaded and started playing Ocarine of Time and was playing that.

The game's new to me because I never really accepted the N64 or GameCube so I never played any of the games on those consoles.

Super Nintendo is the best. All you need is Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World, Street Fighter II Turbo, A Link to the Past and the Donkey Kong Country games.

Chris JC said...

Ah, cool - Bodyswap from series 3.

I thought for a while you'd ended up watching series 7 or something.

Anonymous said...

Herlihy have you watched the original Sid & Marty Krofft's Land of the Lost?

I don't think it gets much more campy/crappy production than that.

Anonymous said...

Why do you guys call seasons series?

Chris JC said...

Because they don't last an actual season.

We should really call them Month-and-a-halves.

Mr. Bill said...

I was and am a big Land of the Lost old school fan.

I remember watching it wearing my footed pjs.

The series vs season thing is a European thing. Just like bad teeth. present company excepted. Herlihy and Chris seem to have great teeth.

I like Lost...

Living in the Land of the Lost, LIVING IN THE LAND OF THE LOST!

Ha ha. I actually saw the 90s version with the Jeep and stuff when I was a kid. I think it aired on Nickelodeon or Fox. I don't remember too much from it.

I watched a couple episodes of the original at one of my "mate's" "flats" a couple years ago on dvd.

"Cheers."

scrdmnkydst said...

Ocarina of Time is nostalgic, it's ten years since i played it. LTTP is good but i prefer the 3D zeldas.

Like 3-4 years ago i was rummaging around a Gamestation shop and i found a mint condition copy of the LOZ collectors edition, all of the main zeldas (minus LTTP & WW) on one gamecube disc. For the amazing sum of £1.

How can you have not played Twilight Princess? It's only the fourth best 3D Zelda!

Mr. Bill said...

Come on... Someone create a post that celebrates TODAY for what it is!

I'm still working on OOT.

no, really, she's creepy. sorry.

Mr Bill - thanks for the kind words but seriously, my teeth are fucked - I'm a walking British dental cliché.

Ironically, I blame free health care. Is it the same in Canada?
