Yeah, it's not happening for me either. I'm just not able to make it come up. Usually I can get it up on the first try, but something's wrong this time. This has never happened to me before, I promise. Wait, what were we talking about?

RE: Are there any trustworthy women on Lost?

I'd trust Rose, and while Claire is MIA and left Aaron, I don't think she's duplicitous (is she?)

Chris JC said...

Do you guys think that largely this season is concerned with tying up a bunch of the more "pointless" questions (for example: we didn't REALLY need to see Radzinsky, beyond knowing he's another poor sucker who ended up pressing the button, but even so I'm glad we did) just to appease the section of the fanbase that can't deal with threads being left open and ambiguous before they really get stuck into finishing the story next year?

t-dot kim said...

Agreed, I think Rose is the only woman we haven't seen double cross anyone. (Maybe Claire, Penny, Libby too, if we go back--we never got too deep into their characters YET)

Kate, Juliet, Ana Lucia, Shannon, Sun...Jack's ex-wife Sarah, Eloise is kinda cryptic, Rousseau CRAZY, The Sheriff LOL, ummm...I'm sure I could go on if I had a list.

The ladies of LOST: made to be untrusted.

mb said...

I don't think we can really say for sure yet Chris. They are touching on a lot of previously introduced elements quickly, which, after 3+ seasons of slower reveals and setup, can look like they are going down a checklist instead of storytelling. But there might be purpose in the information they are giving as well.
Like, RE: Radzinski - if all he does is act as an antagonist to the 815ers, certainly I'd say that Cuselof just used Radzinski for this character (when it could have been anyone) to make the show seem more unified across seasons. But Radzy might end up being some kind of narrative lynchpin or something. We'll see.

I also think that the pace has downshifted since 316 and we're back on a non-frenetic course.
Basically I think this season's main purpose is to send most of our characters back in time to Dharma so that their "destinies" become more entrenched/entwined with the island - so they firmly leave behind their status as "visitors" on the island.

Bitches.

I've always said that the Lost writers sucked at writing female characters. Main example being Kate. I honestly don't think she was meant to be as hated as she is. For whatever reason, most of the females on Lost come off bitchy and untrustworthy. Either it's because nerds can't write good female characters, or the writers have some issues to work out through their writing. Or as Aimee said on the podcast, maybe it's that they know women too well. :P

Oh, and nice to see you on the blog again, Terry O'Locke. ;)

When you are physically in the broadcasting studio/booth, it would behoove you to F**KIN' LOOK THE F**K UP AT THE F**KIN BIG-ASS LIGHTED SIGN THAT F**KIN SAYS "ON-AIR" AND CONFIRM THAT IT'S NOT F**KIN LIT BEFORE YOU F**KIN LAUNCH INTO A F**KIN TIRADE LADEN WITH THE WORK F**K

Jordan said...

I hope that guy gets whats coming to him. I absolutely hate when people speak to their co-workers or subordinates like that in the work place. On air or off. People who feel the need to demean and lose it like that in the business world need a serious ass kicking.

James said...

Great work, as always Ladies. Very enjoyable.

I agree (and have said similar in the past) that I believe that Ben knows something in the present based on events of the past). Hence the "Ben always knows what;'s going to happen" lines we get over and over again. Something that little kid sees, hears determines his decision making ion the future, I think.

JoeSC said...

Hey Lauren, if you want to italicize anything, just put a < i > in front of all of the text and put < /i > at the end of the text. Just take out the spaces before and after the letter "i" inside the bracket.

You can also bold text by using a "b" instead of "i". Hope that helps!

Jordan, I agree with you 100%! In fact, everyone on the Blogspot should make the commitment to drunk-dial TLI at least once before the end of the season.

So Rebecca Mader doesn't just post here.

From her myspace (no word if it's real)

Pissed
I just wanted to say that I NEVER changed my age on the set of LOST as Damon and Carlton accused me of on the most recent LOST podcast.
Charlotte Lewis was ALWAYS meant to be 28 and born in 1979.
It was written in the script EP # 402 of which I have a copy and I can prove this!
They made a mistake.
They are making it MY fault.
NOT COOL.

Rebecca Mader.

Jordan said...

Who is the bigger lying douche? Darlton or Rebecca Mader? Tough call.

scrdmnkydst said...

Well... Ausiello, just covere this and has a statement from Cusellof too.

Statement and explanation and stuff.

PalmerEldritch said...

thanks for the helpful hint, gregg nations.

but mader could have been a little more tactful in her internet postings. and darlton could have been correct and not thrown her under the bus. oops!

oh well. easy enough to take care of. baby charlotte's boat goes off the proper bearing and arrives 9 years in the future. her mom forges a birth certificate to make her age jive with the date. ta-da!

Kyle from Kentucky said...

this just goes on to prove my crazy theory that charlotte and rebecca mader are hideous bitches that nobody likes....except Jen from the Transmission..

I don't give a fuck about the timeline fuckup. As long as they admitted it was a mistake that's all I needed to know. End of story.

Rebecca take your tea and jizz stained teeth and your horseshit acting and stay the fuck out of the lost community bitch. Don't even open your damn mouth about it again and don't put her back on the show Darlton.

Jordan said...

Hopefully this war of words means that Charlotte isn't going to be in too many more future episodes! If it were going to be the case, I doubt she'd knock her employers too bad.

Jordan said...

Lesson to those of you who believe Cuselof when they tell you that what is happening on Lost has been the plan all along. Those two are full of shit. Their show is no different than BSG or Heroes or any other show that has to make crap up as they go along. (Ok, maybe Heroes isn't the best example of how a show should build it's storyline.) Darlton, your show isn't this amazing pre-ordained tapestry of interwoven amazing that you want everyone to believe. But that's ok. The show is still great. I just wish they'd be more honest about the process. Because if they were, we wouldn't have people freaking out about mysteries that don't have answers and were never intended to be given ones, ie Hurleybird.

PalmerEldritch said...

charlotte, the sheriff, and bai ling's nipples are getting a LOST spin-off as a trio of "Jacob's Angels" with Christian Shephard playing the role of Bosley.

Jordan said...

LOL. For any PS3 users (might be the same for xbox, dunno), if you download the new demo for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, you will notice a familiar face in the intro video. Playing the role of General of the Soviets is none other than the guy who played Mikhail on Lost (sorry dude, don't know your name). But without an eye patch! Talk about versatile.

well for starters I have no idea who Coleen is and if it's your sister or something I am sorry for calling her an ugly bitch. I maybe saw her for 10 seconds so I don't even know who it is. Again I am sorry for that. It was uncalled for.

I didn't know what was going on when I got on there I was just on there a few minutes and it was all about me so I laughed and left.

I do not know what scott is supposed to mean. Never called a podcast as anything but Kyle from Kentucky. So whatever that means I do not know. So if someone could elaborate me on that I would appreciate it.

But Jay...jay jay jay...I know your the kind of nerd that can talk smack from your keyboard but have never thrown nor taken a punch in your life. But keep in mind that I'm going to Comic Con this year. So if you keep whining and whining then I will definitely have to introduce myself.

Maybe this is the right time to mention the fact that I had a Lost meets BSG dream last night. For some reason I was with some of the Lost people on the Galactica. What would such a show be called? Lost in Space? Hey...

And important note. This is the first time I have EVER had a dream about anything to do with Lost. It's not like I'm Aimee or anything.

Kyle from Kentucky said...

no there's no threats. I just said I would introduce myself. I don't have to prove anything. Hell I was just thinking about shaking hands and saying "Do I sound familiar." If I was going to start a fight with someone just because I said something ignorant about their girlfriend then he called me out on it then I would be a complete idiot.
As a matter of fact my first reaction to reading Jays post there was oh shit I shouldn't have said that about that girl. Then I sent a very sincere apology to their inbox and if you want to read it just ask me.

Still don't know whats up with the Scott stuff

Jay Glatfelter said...

Kyle,

Colleen is my girlfriend, and regardless, no girl deserves to be called a bitch with no reason.

The whole thing was to raise money and awareness for Autism, not an excuse to make some stupid comments. So next time use your head.

I have personally met and consider myself friends with a few of the Scott and Stevers for a long time. I am not going to get into a pissing match because its a waste of time, and disrespectful to the great people that post on this blog.

So...Brian Fuller back with Heroes. Comments?

scrdmnkydst said...

What? That wasn't really Rebecca Mader? My mind = blown away.

Oh. That episode ogf Heroezzz was the first Bryan Fuller episode? Bad times. It was certainly a step up from other episodes though. Why was Swoosie Kurtz in this episode? that seemed utterly superfluous.

This argument is getting as boring as Heroes.... SNORE.

PalmerEldritch said...

KABLAMO!!!!

i thought Heroes was a fairly good episode of Heroes. parts were pretty good!

PalmerEldritch said...

of course, that could just be because there have been a lot of bad episodes lately. :)

t-dot kim said...

Palmer, agreed.

Anything is better than the Heroes we've been getting lately.

scrdmnkydst said...

Parts that were good... Normally a good episode usually only has one bad part. This was a Namasté sort of episode. Not bad, but not overly amazing.

Mr. Bill said...

Well said Canadian Bacon!

You Guys need to check out Breaking Bad it is a great show.

Kyle from Kentucky said...

Never watched one second of it. I am very loyal to one show. Do I need to go buy the Dvds?

t-dot kim said...

Bill, I just dl'ed Breaking Bad thanks to the guy who lives in the 206. I'm about to catch up completely on Flight of the Concords. (Thanks to Steph, I'm all good with Supernatural--LOL)

KY from KY, hummmmm, Heroes DVDs...I liked the first season the best. Well, all except the finale episode. I just hope that it doesn't tank.

I'm wondering if Fringe is worth watching. I've only watched 2 complete episodes. Can't get into it, but I heard it got better.

Mr. Bill said...

I would say get the DVD's just because I think it is that good.

Here is a link to their site. There are some recaps but it dosen't really do the show justice.

Jordan said...

Right on Mr. Bill! Bad ass show. People don't know what they're missing. And it only takes 10 eps to catch up.

Jordan said...

I tried to get people to check it out last year, but no takers. Hopefully with your help Bill, we can show the world the awesomeness of that show. Although some of them seriously need to get to watching The Wire...

John V. Holder III said...

Breaking Bad isn't even the best original show on AMC...it's MAD MEN. Don Draper is my hero.

andrew. said...

- i love Breaking Bad. Last season was only 7 episodes, and i'm not sure if that was on purpose or because of the writers' strike. I wasn't sure if the show had much room to move in this new season but these first 3 episodes have been some of the best television i've seen.
- This week I lost Battlestar Galactica, Flight Of The Conchords, and Big Love from my TV line-up. Maybe i'll go outside, get some sunlight, and stave off rickets

Jordan said...

Still have yet to get into Mad Men. I know, I know. It's great. I have it and have been meaning to start it. But for whatever reason, it always gets bumped in line.

Interesting fact about Breaking Bad. It was originally developed by FX. They loved it and thought it was awesome. But in the end had to pass as they thought it was just too dark and disturbing (hs teacher dying of cancer cooking and selling crystal meth) for anyone to watch. Guess they were wrong. Brian Cranston is great in the show and definitely deserved his Emmy.

Jordan said...

Andrew, I read an interview with the creator of Breaking Bad. And the show was halted because of the writers strike. He actually admitted that he feels it was a good thing. Because the time off caused him to alter the next few eps. And in his opinion it ended up much better than it would have. I'm sure that's what he'd say in any case. But given the fact that the show got a bunch of critical acclaim and Cranston the Emmy after it aired. He probably realized that he had a bit of a leash to work with now. Where as originally he thought it was probably just a one season and done kind of thing. Thus why he felt the need to not climax so soon (twss) as he admitted in the article.

John V. Holder III said...

Yeah, Mad Men isn't the kind of show that keeps you on the edge of your seat with cliffhangers and questions every week, but at the end of every episode you're just kind of like, "Hell yeah, that was a solid hour of TV." And to be honest it's pretty nice to not be invested in a drama to the point where you're visiting a blog that's dedicated to a podcast that's dedicated to said drama on a daily basis.

Jordan said...

Just watched Heroes. Thought it was alright. Nothing revolutionary. But a definite step in the right direction. Nothing absurd and laughable. That's a start. If I don't roll my eyes during an episode of Heroes, that's a good thing. Especially of late. Maybe I was purposefully reading into certain things because I knew it was a Bryan Fuller written ep. But there seemed to be a much more focused vibe going on. Also, Hiro & Ando were amusing for the first time in ages. Reminded me of them in season 1 almost. And Herlihy, I'm guessing you didn't watch Pushing Daisies? Because that's why Swoosie Kurtz was in this. Fuller obviously liked her so much, he decided to hook her up.

Jordan said...

Note I would've rolled my eyes had the Parkman/Dafney flying scene been real and I was meant to take it seriously.

Chris JC said...

"The dude is about as real as when Chris pretends to be Rebecca Mader."

I did only do that once - I'd have done it more but it turned out more obvious than I hoped after compressing it to send. Also it relied on me continuing the idea that I think Charlotte was horrible and Mader unattractive - neither of which are things I think are actually true.

As for the REAL Mader's comments - did anyone fall for the Darlton story? Be honest now. I first heard it in the UStream chat and knew immediately that, for it to be true, it would require her to:

* change Emerson's script
* have the director not notice
* have it missed in editing and dubbing (where changing 1979 to 1970 would be a piece of cake, particularly if they can get Emerson to loop his line and cut away from the "nine" lip movement)

So basically, not gonna happen. Also - if they DID intend this age differential then they should have done some adjustment when they realised that the character was gonna be seven years older than Ethan. If only they had a show where any tiny discrepancy can be fixed with a vague timey-wimey explanation. OH, WAIT!

If they were really young writers I can easily understand them not sweating having a dude born in 1965 playing a dude born in 1977 but since they are both older than me (heck, Carlton was born in '59) then I seriously don't know what they're playing at unless they play the "leaving the island on the wrong bearing" card as I suggested earlier.

Woah - off on a tedious LOST rant. Check me out! Anyone would think I don't like LOST.

Quick query: is it "Lost", or "LOST"? I tend to go full out with the LOST but I've been ridiculed for it before now and figured I'd test The Water.

memphish said...

I tend to go with LOST, but would go with Lost if it wasn't so easy to type in all caps.

Back to Jordan's dream Kate+Apollo would equal a nightmare. Sawyer+Starbuck would probably equal a fist fight, but it would be entertaining.

I tried to watch Breaking Bad last year. I made it to episode 3 or 4 when some really bad things started happening in terms of what the main character and the guy he was sidekicking felt they needed to do (is that vague enough?) and just couldn't find myself enjoying watching these awful situations and choices. (Awful not in terms of the show, it is not awful; awful in terms of life choices.)

I love Mad Men. I've watched it from the beginning, but it does get self-important at times.

Hubby is a big Breaking Bad fan. As I said once on my podcast with Andrew, anything having to do with meth is just too sad for me. I like dark but meth hits too close to reality.
At first I was ok with the BSG finale but the more I think about it, the more issues I have with it.
"Ok, when we stick our hands in the goo we will know everything there is to know about each other. All will know if you've done anything against another Final Five. If you have anything to hide, it will be revealed as soon as we stick our hands in the goo." Just beat us over the heads, RDM.
I have Buffy on the brain these days. I'm half way through season three. It's no Supernatural but I'm attached to these characters. And Buffy and Angel have got to be the greatest romantic couple in the history of television. Joss is a sadist.
Ryan, we're watching Dawn of the Dead as we dress for school this morning.
Heroes was acceptable last night. I didn't role my eyes or laugh out loud once. I was surprised with who Rebel turned out to be, I liked the Tracy deal, in theory I liked the Parkman/Speedster scenes, and Hiro is charming again. Thank you Bryan Fuller for saving the show.
Dollhouse was excellent last week if anyone is interested. It's like Fox finally let Joss lose to do his thing.

Holli did you finsh the Dark Tower SAGA? If so what did you think?
Book 4 is still my favorite..A romantic at heart, I guess.
I also listend to it on tape+CD(long story) you might want to try it for the 2nd time thru to save a few years on your eyesight:) I liked the guy who read the first 3 or 4 can't remember, then he died and someone had to take on the last few. He was also good, though took a little getting used to.

Stephanie said...

Also I'm watching Castle. It's nothing ground-breaking but it's a good replacement for Burn Notice.

memphish said...

RRB, yes, I finished it while I was at the beach. I liked the whole thing and was satisfied with the ending. Does make you want to give it a second go-through, but I think I'll pass on that.

Have you read the graphic novels? If you liked Book 4, you'd probably like those I hear.

It's hard to say which book was my favorite. I really liked 2. I'd say Books 1 and 6 were my least favorite. And as King continued to include a certain real-world character in Book 7 that continued to annoy me and brought that one down a peg too. Once they got back on the road though I really liked it.

- He's Our You. The Official Podcast got a little spoilery with what the title means, so i'll forgo theorizing this week. Do you think our main losties will stay in the 70s for the whole season? the rest of the show? any guesses?

- Our losties still have 6-10 years before the purge (based on Ben's age), although i guess Dharma was defending itself against "the hostiles" (can they please just come up with a name for themselves?) as witnessed in the scene where Ben's classroom goes into defensive mode. I'm just wondering why all of the podcasts i've listened to have made it seem like our Losties could be gassed tomorrow.

- i don't know why, but i'm tired of Sayid. I could kind of care less if he gets offed or not. I guess he was important to the Losties when they were surviving on the island, but now that they've elected to go back, there doesn't seem to be the same jeopardy and i'm not sure what Sayid really has to offer as a character since he's pretty mythology-light, and as much as he wants to, there's no way he's going to suceed in killing Ben Potter.

- i got my "Let The Right One In" DVD in the mail today. I'm really excited to watch it again since it was my favorite movie of last year. The packaging sucks though. They ruined the beautiful poster design and put a terrible review quote right on the front. I should be getting the book today too.

Ah, yes - it's almost time for that film to be out here in cinemas in a couple of months.

In similar news, UK television will shortly be starting The Wire from season 1 - so we're really keeping up well.
