looking forward to the segment today jimmy.

A random musical note I observed on TV tonight. If any of you watch Smallville, it sounded tonight like they deliberately reference or copied the score from Requeum for a Dream.

w00t!

Most awesome! About to listen immediately!

the TLI umbrella grows...

Also - I just posted a bunch of info about the next 4 episodes over at Ye ol' SPLOG

scrdmnkydst said...

I think we need to make Jimmy his own special TLI logo, just like MB's got.

Great show as always though James.

Jordan said...

Yeah, agreed. Would be nice to have different logos for each show so as to avoid confusion.

Look forward to listening Jimmy.

Chris JC said...

Yes - excited about this. Will the cutesy piano theme for Kate's wave at Sawyer be covered? LET US SEE.

Rrb said...

I bet Ethan and Ben were Bff. Exchanging freakie looks with each other. Plotting wrong doings together. Stalking Juliet?

Chris JC said...

So if the little girl from 1974 WAS Charlotte that makes her, what, seven years older than Ethan? I'm guessing we ain't done with Time Fucking.

Guess we'll find out when Faraday does his thang at The Orchid.

memphish said...

Chris, we have 2007 people in 1977 including a separated married couple. We are definitely not done with Time Fuckery.

How many more to go until the 100th?
When is Jorge's Ace of Cakes?

Anonymous said...

yeah, I would like to watch that. That show inspires me, but I usually end up making a huge mess and cussing a lot. Maybe I'll try my ol' Easter egg cake again and post a pic.

andrew. said...

re: episode 100, they must be counting by hours, because just going by episode titles this whole season will only bring them to episode 97. Going by hours, i think the season finale might be the 100th episode, but then i'm confused that Jorge & crew already got their cake. ???
i think the Ace of Cakes episode is supposed to air in May though.

andrew. said...

airs May 9th, according to the interwebs

andrew. said...

more sleuthing. apparently "316" was Lost's 100th, which i'm still not sure how they reached that conclusion, except including all of the clip shows and seperating the finales into multiple episodes.

memphish said...

S1 had 24 episodes, 25 hours
S2 had 23 epsiodes, 24 hours
S3 had 22 episodes, 23 hours
S4 had 13 episodes, 14 hours

That's 82 episodes, 86 hours through S4

Which would make episode 100 next season, but hour 100 the 14th hour of this season. Which would be 5 episodes from now which is schedules to air 4/29.

This ends the math portion of the blog comments.

jorge mentioned that they did not do it on their actual 100th episode. it is happening during this season some time.

PalmerEldritch said...

i imagine that they had to figure out a good time for the Charm City Cake guys to FLY OUT TO HAWAII.

also, Jorge is cool. and did Ryan Ozawa say that one of the Charm City Cake guys e-mailed them?

Ralph- said...

i am not sure, i know that a lot of them are fans. The funny thing is, if you listen to the show where jorge appeared on the dharmalars for the first time, he talks about wanting ace of cakes to go to hawaii, it is pretty funny, cause jorge pretty much mentions everything that happened. It was truly a finale prediction.

Great job Jimmy, One of my favorite Eno pieces is from the NASA documentary For All Mankind. I believe it is the same piece that plays at the end of Traffic.

Rrb said...

Question just watched the opening act of this season. And my guess is the baby is a Boy does anybody have reason to guess other wise?

James said...

Thanks for the B'Day wishes, Ralph, and the Eno commentary.

I would bite the hate in the face, if I were you! I've gotten a bit over the years too...I wish my Mum would stop writing to tell you the truth.

I literally got the show out the door and then thought "Shit, I need a logo!"...so that's coming I guess :)

mb said...

RE: TLI LOGOS - I am working on a couple of them for me and Jimmy. All I'm doing for now is changing colors and tweaking the text underneath to suit. Jimmy and Kim - I'm emailing you re: this.

scrdmnkydst said...

MB - Just a suggestion, you on't have to take it into mind or anything. But, can i suggest, that for Jimmy's logo, you tweak the colours so that it has a yellow-ish hue? Sort of like a mini tribute to all of Jimmy's work on the Dharmalars?

If not that's fine, I just think that it would be sort of nice.

But yeah, happy birthday Jimmy. Great show as always. It made me chuckle that you spent almost a third of the show doing all the TLI plugs.

PalmerEldritch said...

ralph, write back to that guy saying only "baconator? awesome. i'm off to wendy's. thanks!"

mb said...

Good idea Herlihy - let me see how it looks.

OMG - I'm a spaced bastard -

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMY!
Pint time? yes?

Ralph- said...

ha ha. i have only had a baconator once, ever!

i responded to Q. with this remark... "Alright".

I think that a Yellowish Hue would be cool.

scrdmnkydst said...

Oh, i literally just saw this.

Herlihy sorry to say but every time I type Dumb I have typed Gay first wrong I know and you are helping me to change.

hahaha, you really don't have to change for me.. I don't care what you say about teh gays.

PalmerEldritch said...

finally got a chance to listen to the musical segment. it's always good to hear jimmy's contribution. i dont think there's been a stinker yet. quality stuff.

one thing i really like about it is that its usually very relaxing. a bit zen. which is nice.

and... happy birthday, jimmy!

Stephanie said...

Happy birthday, Jimmy. I'm craving cake now.

mb said...

Lost question -
(asking b/c I can't remember) In the opening scene of Because You Left, is it clear what the baby's gender is?

scrdmnkydst said...

No, it's not made clear. Pierre Chang's Wife / Girlfriend / Booty Call says "The baby's awake. It's your turn". That's it.

memphish said...

In the Comic Con video with Chang he says take "him" outside. Did Daniel go through the pinhole?

Holli

memphish said...

Do you think Mrs. Hawking is an on-Island Hostile in 1977? Surely not given Faraday's age, but they've been playing sort of fast and loose with that kind of thing so far.

Holli

scrdmnkydst said...

Pierre could have been referring to any baby really. Possibly Amy's?

Sawyer said that Faraday "was here" or something to that effect, making it sound like he's died. I don't think he has... Could he be living with the Others/Hostiles?

Also. I'm trying to think of a scene last season where Adult Ben and Faraday came into contact. I don't think they have...

memphish said...

That's true. Apparently Amy and Pierre have overlapping responsibilities at least on processing day. Still if you're asking MB because you want the baby to be Sun I'm going to play the racist card. Chinese and Korean are not the same.

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

"Chinese and Korean are not the same."

neither are Chinese and Cambodian.

OH SNAP :p

PalmerEldritch said...

although, i reckon Cambodian born Francois Chau plays an ethnically Chinese Pierre Chang who was born in the US.

but, clearly, not Korean.

Jordan said...

What about a mix of Chinese and Korean?

Kornese?

mb said...

Holli,
No I'm of no opinion on who the baby is yet. I was listening to a J&J listener (why do I not skip that segment?) and someone was saying they thought Chang's baby could be Sun, to which I rolled my eyes, but then realized I wasn't sure why I thought the baby was male. Thanks for reminding about the Comic Con vid - I'm pretty sure that's what I was thinking of.

scrdmnkydst said...

Oh bugger.

I just saw some casting news on Ausiello's blog... This is a bit disconcerting. :(

Ralph- said...

That dude was Quick Kick on G.I. Joe

PalmerEldritch said...

TOM JONES AS HIMSELF!

scrdmnkydst said...

Oh, i should clarify. It wasn't casting scoop for Lost. But it could well affect Lost.

Chris JC said...

I miss Ben, too - but I wouldn't dream of giving you shit about it, Ralphie.

Jimmy - I'm not the biggest Eno fan, but I hugely love the title track to Another Green World - known to UK residents/ex pats (particularly of "a certain age") as the theme tune to Arena - and in that capacity hearing just a couple of bars of it is enough to make grown adults think its past their bedtime.

andrew. said...

- Party Of Five The Movie: Five Harder

- listening to the Official Lost podcast. Apparently they fucked up Charlotte's age and are just going to live with the discrepency, so that little girl running around Dharmatown was Charlotte. To be fair to TPTB, it was the blogspots favorite redhead, Rebecca Mader's vanity about her age that fucked up the timeline.

- Pittsburgh almost took down my entire NCAA bracket in the first round, no.1 seed vs 16.

- BSG tonight!! I'm happy with the entire series if someone at Sci-Fi kicks out the plug right now, so, as they don't make it all Roslin's fevered imagination, then i'm happy.

memphish said...

Thanks for the Mader update Andrew. I've gotten so spoiler-phobic I don't listen to the OLP until the week after they pre-hash.

This is too funny - Holli and Ryan have managed to accidentally run into a spoiler that I (who actively looks) seem to have missed :D lol

scrdmnkydst said...

It's not really a spoiler though. It could turn out to be but maybe not.

I only saw it because i'm following Ausiello on twitter and i have his rss feed on Google Reader.

You suck Wake Forest. Thanks for helping me out. I guess I shouldn't complain because I'm in first in the MYOKOM W/ SAS bracket, but I don't see me staying there much longer.

-LT Smash

memphish said...

Well it's clear the ACC was overrated. They are sucking my bracket into oblivion.

I didn't like The Office this week. Stringer Bell should have brought some Baltimore B School thinking to Scranton, not that tired "I'm here to keep you from David" thing. I don't think I laughed anywhere in the episode. Maybe in the beginning with Jim in the tux.

30 Rock was a little flat too though anything Jack, Kenneth and Tracy do is all right by me. "I think of you as Judas."

Memphish, I couldn't agree more... I've been very disappointed with this season as a whole. I really hope they can get their act back together next season!

BTW... does anyone know if TLI plans on recording tonight?

Chris JC said...

Bear McCreary's Terminator music is excellent. Brad Fiedel wrote the score for the first two films and really set the whole feel - a feel which McCreary understands infinitely more than Marco Beltrami did in Terminator 3.

McCreary's score is mostly rhythm and noises, which is as it should be (especially that WOARRRGHHH noise that denotes a Terminator), although it does have a string piece equivalent to the bit just before Arnold gets lowered into the steel in T2.

Who's doing the score to Terminator: Salvation?

DANNY ELFMAN!?

On the strength of his Planet of the Apes stuff, I'm guessing it'll be good stuff.

Would prefer Fiedel, though.

Jordan said...

I haven't liked the last couple episodes of The Office at all. I hate it when they make Michael overly jerkish and sad. When they go too far, it stops being funny and just becomes awkward and hard to watch. The whole season on the whole has been very "meh" to me.

I always love 30 Rock. I liked when Kenneth said he goes over to Tracy's house to hold his hand during Lost. And when Liz Lemon was doing her Jack impression and accidentally slipped into a Christian Bale Batman impression. Anybody want to venture to guess what BFF stood for?

Jordan said...

Have always loved Bear McCreary's music on BSG. Talk about intense and powerful. Is it sacrilegious on this blog to ask which music people think is better, McCreary's BSG stuff or Giacchino on Lost? I'm sure most here would obviously default to Giacchino. But I think it's a lot closer than some would admit.

- I've been really impressed with Battlestar's soundtrack throughout the series, but as i mentioned on the MYOKM board, the celtic flute stuff has been really bad, overly maudlin.

- i enjoyed the office this week. I especially liked the part where Jim realized that, although he was a bright, competent, semi-industrious worker trapped in an insane environment, he benefits far more from his lax management than he cares to admit. It wasn't overly funny i guess, but it was definitely a step up from the past 2 or so episode which bordered on modern-Simpsons for me. Stringer Bell! "Where (David) Wallace At String!?"

On the third UK series of Big Brother we had a contestant called Jade Goody. She was famous for not being particularly intelligent, yet resonated with the public and became a modern "celebrity" - that is a person who is famous for being famous.

She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August last year and died today.

The reason I mention this is that her last few weeks has brought out the absolute worst in the UK's tabloid press, culminating in the infamous OK! Magazine "Tribute Edition", which was published with the legend "1981-2009" on the cover despite the fact that she was ACTUALLY STILL ALIVE AT THE TIME.

Basically, if anyone (particularly snooty Brits) ever give you shit about American media, just link them to THIS.

I'm so ashamed of our press right now, it's unreal. The absolute best thing to come out of this is an increase in the "visibility" of cervical cancer and increased calls for the age of mandatory smear tests to be reduced from 25 to 20.

scrdmnkydst said...

I totally agree with Chris. The increased media around her was ridiculous. Her agent was giving daily statements about her everyday and seemed to revel in all the attention he was giving.

The worst thing is, she died on Mother's Day and was desperate to see her kids today, we know this from another statement.

Bad times indeed.

Forgot to mention. Went to see TWO movies last night (miracles are possible people). However while I liked "Duplicity" WAY more than I expected, "Knowing" was...
well, it was more like "BLOWing"

ugh! Why did I bother. I miss my 10 bucks and try not to think of all the other things it could have bought that would have given me some joy.

Rotten Tomatoes has a good collection of review quotes about it

The title of the San Francisco Chronicle's review says it best really: "Knowing - funny for a thriller"

Stephanie said...

But what about Ben, ralph-?

Ralph- said...

its all explained on the scott and steve message board

Anonymous said...

Note: I have actually been up for the 25 Hour Podcast (mainly playing Guitar Hero to stay awake)
I say this to explain possible logical fallacies and things I may have overlooked.

CW probably born on the island.
Ben not born on the island.

CW had a daughter.
Ben stole a daughter.

CW was an Other who probably becomes part of Dharma.
Ben is a member of Dharma who becomes an Other.

mb said...

OMG - Roger Ebert is giving this movie a decent review!?!? WTF?!?

I am flabergasted that this film is getting ANY good reviews.

OK - i guess I should be totally objective and fair. The movie starts out compelling enough (although heavyhanded) doing a decent job of utilizing some standard 'thriller' ideas, and continues to have it's adrenaline moments which are edited and handled pretty well. But it was such a disappointment in the end that any redeeming features were just completely overshadowed. But maybe there's something I'm not seeing.

Sorry for the continued rant everyone. I'm done.

mb said...

Cool parallels Kid, though I don't think Widmore is going to become part of the DI. But (as with BLOWing) I may have missed something.

We'll see.

There is nothing really hinting or foreshadowing that he will other than Ben says CW wants to exploit the island.

The fact that I'm relying on something Ben said as back up troubles me.
