Don't F*#$ With Sawyer

Man Who Robbed 'Lost' Star Must Serve 30 Years In Prison
Hawaii Paroling Authority Orders Robber To Serve Entire Sentence

HONOLULU -- The man who robbed a television star of the ABC hit show "Lost" must spend at least 30 years in prison.

Ruben Royce was 20 when he was arrested for 30 felonies, including the home invasion robbery of Josh Holloway and his wife in Hawaii Kai.

Royce awakened them early in the morning as he banged a gun on their bedroom door. He also stole their Mercedes.

Royce made a plea agreement, hoping to win parole in as few at 10 years. However, the Hawaii Paroling Authority decided Royce must serve his entire 30-year term.

Prosecutors said they are happy with that decision, which means Royce will be in prison until he is 50.

I'm glad the joke thread isn't the current one. I'm terrible at remembering jokes.

Does this make Sawyer the new Chuck Norris?

So a man and his wife are watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
The man looks to his wife and asks her if they can have sex tonight?
she replies NO!
He then asks her if its her final anwser?
She says yes it is.
The Husband asks her ..
....wait for it....
Can I phone a Friend?

that is fantastic.

- is it back-to-back dumbhanced LOST this week? or are they going to try to trick more people into watching Life On Mars? mmmm... Gretchen Mol...

PalmerEldritch said...

crap. no new LOST though. momentarily forgot. and came crashing back down again. blah!

Gretchen Mol is the best part of that show. i've never seen her on it though...

Stephanie said...

The British Life on Mars was much, much better. But doesn't that go without saying?

Stephanie said...

Did Josh Holloway even do anything other than call the police?

Rrb said...

Instead of TV. Today I'd like Holli To tell us the tale of Roland the Gunslinger in Love with a girl named "Little Miss O'h So young and Pretty" Kate? Penney? I hope not. Oh ya she met a terrible end. What does this have to do with Lost? I hope we / I can remember. ?

Having watched about equal amounts of both BBC and ABC versions - I have to agree with Steph. I was enjoying the ABC one somewhat though.

SO a man is convinced by his girlfriend Wendy to have her name tattooed on his penis.

When he is erect, you can see it in full, but when he isn't all you see is the W and the Y.

Weeks later this man is in the shower at the YMCA and sees a Jamaican man with a W and a Y tattooed on HIS penis. The man asks the Jamaican, "Hey, is your girlfriend's name Wendy? Your Tattoo looks like mine."

"No man", replies the Jamaican. "It says, 'Welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day'"

Patton Oswalt is AWESOME. Check out his latest blog posting for his thoughts on why nerds need to shut up about Watchmen and how awesome tv is as a storytelling medium. Also goes on to tell you what tv shows you should be watching. And for the most part (besides Dollhouse, which I won't bother with for now), I agree entirely. This man is clearly a genius.

how will the Kate/Sawyer reunion go?
Sawyer: ...
Kate: hey james...
Sawyer: ...
Jack: We got married! Pretty crazy huh? We got mad money from Oceanic for all of our pain and suffering and lived in this huge house together and raised Aaron as our own!
Saywer: ...
Kate: ...
Jack: I mean... it was hard being back in the real world, adjusting to all of those modern amenities and all. I even went back to work at the hospital, but, you know what, it wasn't really for me any more. You know? I was just like 'these people don't understand how rough i had it those 4 months. They don't understand how hard it is to live with the lies'
Sawyer: ...
Kate: I'm sorry ja-
Jack: And then I was all depressed and taking drugs because I realized that even though I was living this ideal life with the woman I love... Kate, I mean, I was married to Kate... I just knew that where I really wanted to be all of this time was back on the island. It's my destiny.
Sawyer: that's great doc.

The British Life on Mars was much, much better. But doesn't that go without saying?

This doesn't always go without saying, but the general consensus in this case was that it did indeed go without saying.

Although I did find the original a teeny bit (personally, to my person - personally - and purely as my own opinion on the subject based on other crime and or supernatural style dramas as framed within my own experience and expectations) over-rated.

t-dot kim said...

So...who's watching LOST tonight? Is it enhanced?

Chris JC said...

UNhanced, surely

John V. Holder III said...

It's being dvr'd. Definitely enhanced though, you gotta assume. Enhance. Enhance. Enhance.

JoeSC said...

It is the enhanced version of "LaFleur"... As much as I don't enjoy enhanced episodes, any Juliet heavy episode is worth the annoyance!!!

Who wants to take a guess at what "fun" new fact we're gonna learn tonight?

I'm putting my money on the redheaded kid not being Charlotte... I just can't bring myself to believe that the writers would make a timeline gaffe like that!

JoeSC said...

I'm also somewhat interested to find out if they say anything new about the statue... As much as I really didn't care about it much before, my interest has been renewed in the past week.

JoeSC said...

And sorry for the god-awful grammar in that last post... long day!

t-dot kim said...

I think I'm going to watch the enhanced version because there's NOTHING ELSE ON tonight (besides America's Next Top Model)

I dare you to dis Tyra. LOL.

Ralph- said...

they should do an enhanced "Further Instructions" so i know what the point was.

hey gang i have a big announcement!!!!!!

Further Instructions SUCKS DONKEY CROTCH!

Ralph- said...

Amazon how has LOST season 1 and 2 Blu-Ray available for pre-order!!! YESS!

John V. Holder III said...

Question...what looks better as the name for an acappella singing group?

The Owl Toes
The Owltoes

JoeSC said...

Thanks for the heads up Ralph! Not a bad price either...

I just wish they gave more details on the bonus features. I'm as psyched for those as I am for the superior video and audio quality!

This totally made my day!

andrew. said...

- that's tough. Owltoes is more obviously a pun, but i tend to disagree with scrunching up two distinct words like that. i vote The Owl Toes.

- I was going to suggest that they enhance "Further Instructions" by tacking the beginning of "La Fleur" onto it, but having an odd bit of Dharma history with no context does actually make it a better episode with pay off.

JoeSC said...

Oh, and I DVRed Pop-Up LOST tonight and fast forwarded to the Charlotte scene. They gave no clarification on whether that was actually her or not... and the debate rages on!

Jordan said...

Agree with Andrew. Owl Toes.

John V. Holder III said...

Des the fact that owls don't technically have toes take away from it at all? Our school mascot is the owl so I'm trying to fit that in there.

Jordan said...

What do owls have? Claws? Owl Claws? Sounds like Outlaws.

Chris JC said...

Owls are hunting birds - they have talons.

For an acapella group, especially in a fifties style, I (personally and with my own personal opinion which is by no means "right") like The Owltoes - but I think it's because it looks a bit like "The Owltones" which would be even for fifties-styled, as you can see.

Although I realise you're probably going for an "alto" pun.

Stephanie said...

I love acappella.

Chris JC said...

I love Acker Bilk.

PalmerEldritch said...

nice. apparently, my friend is now a celebrity...

yeah.

John V. Holder III said...

The Owltones is actually pretty cool, even though it looks like it's been taken. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. If anything owl related comes to you, feel free to let me know.

PalmerEldritch said...

not going with a horrible Hooters joke for your band name?

prolly for the best.

andrew. said...

- i find it really odd that your friend goes through all of those dances only to get Peanut Butter Jelly Time wrong. "Your Mom Playing Video Games" is my favorite.

PalmerEldritch said...

looks like he's making a sandwich in that rendition of the dance. i may have to call him out on that though.

should see him in a month. also, he works for an advertising company so i wonder if he cast himself???

holder, owls make the best college mascots. its true. but they'd be even better if they looked like the Great Owl from The Secret of NIMH.

andrew. said...

what? no post-episode thread for last night?
man that was crazy.
That was really dark when Kate admitted to eating Aaron as part of ritualistic sacrifice to demon-Claire.
Also, holy shit! "Further Instructions" finally meant something when Alpert introduced his brother, Eddie, the undercover cop. They were testing Locke the whole time!
I felt so badly for Sun when she came across those photographs of Dharma Jin in Other Town. time-fucked lovers.
Crackpot theory: That big skin lesion on Locke is actually his undead flesh rotting off and he's hiding his one arm because his hand fell off.

mb said...

Andrew -
Dude, you're high man - that skin lesion is the first growth of Locke's bad twin (who, and I'm predicting it now, will be Jacob).

But the thing that REALLY baked my cake was that Juliet is preggers with Sawyer's baby who is Mary (Sawyer's mom). WTF?!?! Nice predestination paradox LindeLOSER!

I like lost :)

Ralph- said...

the highest that we ever got was after the first Jorge show. We got up to #18 in "All Categories". I believe at the time it was higher than Jay and Jack had ever gotten.

scrdmnkydst said...

hehehe head.

andrew. said...

- i promise i wasn't inspired by the E. Honda stage. I sucked at Street Figher and only knew Ryu's moves.

- watching the Daily Show with John Stewart vs Jim Cramer. It's brutal, a real calling-to-the-carpet moment in history. It's really frustrating that this is happening on a comedy network because it will be easy for apologists to dismiss. The fact is that, once again, this sort of talk should be on your Face The Nations and in front of Congress, but they're afraid of alienating their rich friends.

PalmerEldritch said...

why would someone go on the daily show to debate?

you know the host has a room full of writers who've prepped him with one liners, you know the audience in studio is already going to side with the host out of loyalty and out of politics, and you know the audience at home is with the host for the same reasons as well.

did Jim Cramer somehow think he'd be all like "something economical!" and stewart would be all "oh. nevermind then" and the audience would give Cramer the 80s slow clap?

maybe its cuz cramer's a wackjob that he didnt realize this?

PalmerEldritch said...

oh well. at least he was on arrested development once.

JoeSC said...

Cramer's professed his love for the Daily Show on a few occasions this week...

I can only imagine he was hoping that John Stewart would take it easy on him if he positioned himself as a huge fan.

JoeSC said...

"is it just me, or does Steph's avatar remind anyone of E. Honda's stage?"

Awesome! Never would have noticed that otherwise. Great call Ralph!

PalmerEldritch said...

stop talking shit or Steph will give you the hundred hand slap!!!

/E. Blamo!

Chris JC said...

We don't get Stewart v Cramer until tonight, but looking forward to it.

Rachel (the wife) suggests also that people will attempt to debate on TDS as they utterly underestimate John Stewart as a man spewing the afore-mentioned one liners from a script whereas in actuality he's a very clever, well informed man who can think on his feet faster than most other people and run rings around them.

Man, this is gonna be good.

PalmerEldritch said...

eh. that was disappointing.

it's just John Stewart telling Cramer that him and CNBC are douches. and then Cramer's all, "well, sort of."

http://www.thedailyshow.com/index.jhtml which will probably only work in the US.

BSG tonight. part one of the finale!

scrdmnkydst said...

Tonight's episode of BSG is basically just set up for next week's fraktacular finalé... Meh. I can't wait anyways.

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah. that finale better be good. i want Baltar to be the SpacePope by the end of this.

scrdmnkydst said...

I actually will be so annoyed if Baltar doesn't figure into this finalé very much. He was such a major part of the first three seasons and in the last season he's just been relegated to street preacher... :/

Rrb said...

Balter-bines.

But why cheer a man who killed the last (enter in a cute huggable Extinct animal here)Human and ALL of them:) I just want to see him die:) really since the mini series. He in my mind has played the most hated character. Even against Ben. Not sure if it's the writing or his acting either way cheers to Baltars Death. Please Please Please. If not at least make him sterile.

andrew. said...

- watching the extended version of the John Stewart vs Jim Cramer interview, Cramer comes off a little better. In the version that aired, it looks like Cramer came in all ready to genuflect and Stewart wouldn't accept his excuses and just kept hitting him with evidence that he was at the root of the problem. In the aired version, Cramer looks like he's going to cry, but in the extended version he ends up looking like he took it all in good humor. I guess the lesson is 'make friends with the editting room staff.'

PalmerEldritch said...

Baltar didn't murder everyone. He just gave the password to a trusted advisor that he was banging who just happened to be a spy. A robot spy played by a model!

Mr. Bill said...

It seems a little one sided to me.

Yeah... I can't listen to this. Don't mean to sound ungrateful or anything... but it's too disturbing. It's making Jimmy sound like an utter madman.

Chris JC said...

It won't even download for me but considering it sounds like a long blooper that's probably a good thing. I'm assuming Kim has taken it back off the feed and will put the intended version on later.

Let us go back to the congratulating the girls (including Jimmy) for their iTunes rating and praise Kim's editorial prowess.

PalmerEldritch said...

still, it's better than some of the LOST podcasts out there. ;)

Jordan said...

Sometimes you say more with fewer words.

mb said...

Are you people f-ing around or is there really a new TLI?

Nothing's downloading in iTunes for me

scrdmnkydst said...

I think Kim accidentally uploaded Jimmy's side of the conversation and as soon as a couple of people downloaded it and noticed there was only one side of the conversation, Kim pulled it from the feed.

I do hope that it's going to be rectified...

MB, There isn't a new ep. Somehow Jimmy's audio frpm a converstation with Kimberley and Aimee was accidentally posted. So it was an hour and a half of mostly silence with Jimmy every now and then chiming in. Hence the jokes.

Stephanie said...

Did Jimmy upload his part to iTunes as a way to get it to Kim? Or it the podcast edited already?

RE: Cramer- I smell a rat.

Jordan said...

No new ep yet, Steph. I asked Kim was that was about. And she said she hasn't even started editing yet as they just recorded yesterday.

Jimmy said...

VERY EMBARRASSING!

Sorry, chaps. It must have sounded surreal, yes.

Basically I was sending a portion of audio up to Kim to edit and "somehow" I hit "Publish" in switchpod and a few of you got it! So it was me talking to everyone else, but just me audible.

Horrid....

scrdmnkydst said...

Horrid? Why did that remind me of Mrs. Buckét?

Trevor McFur said...

Just watched the extended Stewart-Cramer 'debate'. What blows me away is ... how often do you see something like that? Admittedly Cramer is a really easy target, but how often do you see someone just so completely called to the carpet on their bullshit? What passes for journalism nowadays is a bunch of talking heads ranting at each other, it's amazing to me to see something that hard hitting. When they cut to that clip of Cramer talking about underselling Apple, you just see him collapse.

Although, I do gotta give him credit for going on in the first place. I wonder if he realized what an ambush it would be. He didn't even really defend himself. I was actually feeling sorry for him in the end.

Ack, BSG in 2 minutes!

James said...

I had to laugh at your comments, Jordan ;)

I don't buy the Cramer/Stewart conflict one bit. Remember folks, March is sweeps month. This is a ploy for ratings. I'm boycotting TDS.

"This is a ploy for ratings. I'm boycotting TDS."

I don't think this is true - but even if it is a play for ratings, TDS still deserves credit. Trevor's right - there isn't anywhere else (save maybe Bill Moyers) where you can watch a public figure get called out in that way. Stewart has called people to the carpet before, most notably I think back in 2004 with the former hosts of the now defunct CROSSFIRE.

mb said...

Trevor McFur said...

I don't buy that either. First, I thought that Stewart looked really angry, especially when he was talking about how his mom seems to have been hit hard by the recession. I've seen his movies, he's not that good of an actor. Second, if it's an act, what could possibly be Jim Cramer's motivation? He hardly even fought back, and his credibility is now completely destroyed. Crossfire was cancelled about 3 months after the infamous Stewart appearance, and pretty much that's all anyone remembers about the show.

Stephanie said...

I've seen his movies, he's not that good of an actor.

I see your point. And he did seem authentically angry.
Could charges be brought up against Cramer for his comments on the video?

Trevor McFur said...

I wondered that too. He kind of seemed to imply that he could during the show.

I think when the Losties split at the beginning of Season 4, everyone in Locke's group heard the Jacob story, but no one in Jack's group did...

Considering that Juliet went with Jack, that means the only people who aren't (or so it would appear) aren't aware of Jacob are Jack, Kate (who did join Locke's camp for a couple of days, but never heard a mention of Jacob), Sayid, Sun, Jin, Desmond, Rose and Bernard.

In fact, Hurley was the only member of the O6 that knew about Jacob and the cabin....
