Well, I guess that makes me FIRST!
After having an iPod for over a year (and in fact, now being on my second, massively bigger one) I've finally discovered the joys of "Manually Manage Music" - filling up the 'pod but not my hard drive. EXCELLENT.
I'm really second, but fell like I'm in third....:-(
Manually managed iPods are good. But when you've got loads of podcasts and you need to put one new episode on... it's a bit of a pain.Although i hear that iTunes 8.0 fixes that problem... I'm not sure though.
I've always manually managed my iPod. I hated when podcasts were deleted before I could finish them. I have no problems at all. Life on Mars- American version still with British music. I was worried we would only get disco.
I've read that the US Life on Mars is pretty well done and compares well with the UK original. Still though, I feel I should watch the original first. For whatever reason, I feel dirty watching a remake before the original.
I was worried about having to go through podcasts to work out which ones I hadn't put on but if you select all and drag, it only copies the new ones.Deleting stuff I had ripped from CDs netted me an extra 15gb of hard drive space and they are still on the pod. This cheers me, it's almost like having a proper sensible drag and drop MP3 player.
Burger Day, people. Burger Day.although, i'll probably get a sandwich or something cuz today's burger day is at a local pizzeria.what are you all doing for lunch? UKers, what DID you have for lunch?has anyone ever seen Matthew Fox's old show "Haunted?"saw twenty minutes the other day. lots of Jack-isms in Matthew Fox's Frank Taylor, PI.
Pooty Poot gets a tiger baby!Aaaaaaaaaaw. Cute. Especially once he trains it to kill all those who dare oppose him.
As I had not had breakfast and was already head first in a computer doing my job and trying to find out who was in the first Orange Film Board commercial, my wife made me a PB+J* sandwich. Very nice.that's "J" for "Jam", obviously.
oh. i'm assuming that Putin's trained tiger will kill his enemies with Putin-taught Judo skills, of course./cats love instructional DVDs
now, i'm tempted to try a Peanut Butter and Jell-o sandwich. :)or at least a Jell-o Pudding Pop endorsed by a sweater lovin' Bill Cosby.
Can you nail a peanut butter and jello sandwich to the wall?
- Happily Birthdate Aimee's friend Jordan!- i gorged on indian food last night. i'm going to skip luch today.
about as well as you can nail a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to the wall, chris.which is to say that you'd need to lay the wall down horizontally first./surprised you guys didnt find a way to put U into the word :p
oh! steph, alirio, and kim: nice job on the podcast. very entertaining.
Can I argue that all those "u"s were taken OUT of words, not put in by us?In fact, I know exactly who did it:It was Noah Webster. He changed all the spellings and turned them into a dictionary so that he could create a standard American English spelling. For years I thought that the spellings had occurred naturally over a couple of hundred years, like they have a habit of doing, but not so: it's all by that guy so he could sell his book. That's solid capitalism right there!
that sneaky bastard!maybe i should publish a dictionary?
who & torchwood news on the board.go me.
ooh. they're remaking V.I suspect it will suffer a lot of comparisons to the Battlestar Galactica redo.http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117993725.html?categoryid=14&cs=1i don't really trust the major networks with sci-fi shows (funny to say on a LOST blog), but it could be great.
It's Jordan's Bday?!? Happy day man!I started watching NBC's Life on Mars and was liking it, but then suddenly had the need to stop down and watch the original - if I don't at least watch SOME of the orignal first, it will feel like a missed opportunity to see the original with fresh eyes. I have about 8 eps from BBC America on the DVR so I watched one - good stuff. I think I'll watch at least a few more b4 launching into the remake, though I will say I liked what I saw. After watching both - seems like the casting was good, even if the characters are DIRECT transplants (no real deviation), I thought they all pretty much worked. Now must check out Herlihy's Who/Torchwood news
P, I did my civic duty and had lunch at Tim Hortons today. I can't get enough of their chili. It's seriously, the best in the world. Has anyone heard from Anon? How did the proposal go, or are we (most likely just me) waiting with bated breath?...and Happy Bday to everyone's favoUrite friend, Jordan
I just read Chris's post about Webster taking all the U's out of words. wow. that's actually fascinating to me - I too always assumed it was an organic development.
- my bank is in the process of failing and may get bought out by The Bank Of Nova Scotia. Thanks Canada! Do i get nationalized health care for opening an account?- Nobunny is going to mention last night's The Office? Dumbledore Calrissian! Other than the BSG talk, i didn't laugh out loud much, but enjoyed quite a packed episode.- I give Kath & Kim exactly 2 more episodes. Also, Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday could end up sinking a lot of careers.
Great job on the triva contest Ralph and "Kamey" it sounded really fun. Ralph with the date from terminatorthat was impressive, most impressive."Magic the Gathering" LOL!
Anon here. Kim, haven't asked yet, but I will soon. My Lady's b-day is Sunday so I'll do it then. She then leaves for 3 weeks to visit her heavily pregnant sister in Spain to help with the whole giving birth thing... i'll keep everyone updated.
Happy Birthday, Jordan. Have you gotten a job yet, you bum?I wish I had a burger today. I had a ham sandwich on a field trip. Now tired. I hate sandwiches.
Bonne fête Jordan!Drake, although I think marriage is for the birds, I wish you good luck! And in spite of the obvious Leafs and Flyers fans here, GO HABS GO!
Thanks all for the kind words and well wishes. Wish me luck in surviving the night.
I was only 2 days off on that date. I need to explain to you guys and girls how big of an arnold fan that i am. it is unbelievable how much i am a fan.
I guess there's no need to ask Ralph- who he voted for then , is there :-)
"I was only 2 days off on that date. I need to explain to you guys and girls how big of an arnold fan that i am. it is unbelievable how much i am a fan."i don't believe it.alirio, ralph's vote had NOTHING to do with Arnold's rise to power. he became a king by his own hand. but that is another story...
ladies...Forget Putin, here's a Chimp Cuddling with a White Tiger Kitten!!!!!aaaaaaaw!!!!
What Arnie-related date are you talking about? I've been too busy to listen to Metrobuzz.I just assumed it was Judgment Day.I went to a friend's house on August 29 1997 and while I was walking over that way listening to the radio someone called in and mentioned that it was Judgment Day. That cheered me up as I'd completely managed to miss it.You could, of course, be talking about something else.
Now edited with correct links, for I am a dumbass:The title of that particular podcast puts me in mind of this. Be sure to watch the intro.Mr. Bill - has the US ever imported "Man to Man with Dean Learner"?
Nope...I just found it via you tube.I love it.Thanks for the reference. If a tree falls in the woods and someone records it...LOL Funny stuff.I read something about a show called Ideal it looked like a funny concept by name alone. Any good?
I just found this the other nightcrazy wierdI wish I never watched it. I'll never look at milfs the same again.
This is the closest americans have come to the level of the "brit" humor that I crave.I think they are Americans, although they could be Canadians."The funnier" part of America.
Although this is great as well
Hey everyone. Can I ask a iPod question? is it possible to backtrack :)Does anyone find that When you plug your iPod in sometimes it will say podcasts are missing? even if you just downloaded them a second ago. I guess it hasn't done that since the update but my iTunes would always lose my new podcasts. Just wondered if anyone else had some missing podcasts they wanted back.GO SOX!!!
Mr. Bill - Ideal is well received by friends of mine, though I havent given it much of a chance. It's more a comedy drama than a sitcom. If you want weird, dark Brit comedy, I think my fellow SAS Blog countrymen will agree that a good move would be to put the following three words into YouTube:chris morris jamMike - I've not encountered that problem. I've had the podcasts menu be totally blank before though.
Nice job, team MYOKOM SAS.
Agreed - although the question you swapped out was one I figured would be really easy. I'm pretty sure I knew it, but I've forgotten what it was now.
I thought Magic The Gathering was an event at the parks or something.
When I heard the question "trading card game" didn't enter my mind.I still can't remember the one you swapped - I just remember knowing it.
just wanted to officially announce that I got a new phone.-Ally posting from my iPhone, bitches!
YEAH ALLY!New iPhone for the new job :)
Congrats, Ally. I'm glad you brought up this topic. I'm trying to decide between an iPhone and the iPod Touch. After paying for Direct TV, home phone, home internet, and such I can not justify paying 40 more bucks a month for the media package for an iPhone. I think I will be getting the Touch for Christmas but upgrading my crappy cell for a nicer one on January 24th when I'm eligible.
-Superheroes Simpsons style
happy thanksgiving, you magnificent canadian bastards!/table full of maple syrup and canadian bacon?
Happy Columbus Day! Does anyone get this day off? Anyone? So I guess we're waiting to see if Anon got the green light on the nuptials. Spent most of last week on the road. Good trip other than 1 day spent indoors with sick child and Auburn loss. I'm pretty sure the chimp with the typewriter attempting to write the great American novel is calling their offense. So I can vote as early as this Wednesday. Is there some media v-chip you can insert to screen out all political references once you have voted? I'm still waiting for NPR to develop a product that ends you having to listen to pledge once your check has cleared. Can someone please invent these products?Holli
I hope they don't fire Tuberville.
holli and steph, seen any ads for The Changeling?your favorite burned spy features prominently in the trailers.
I saw that Palmer. It's gone on my "may see" if not "must see" list. I'll at least stick it in my queue.Holli
i saw that ad and said "hey, it's michael weston! the ladies of the blogspot are gunna love this movie."yeesh.i might go see it if Bruce Campbell were in it somehow. maybe playing the missing son?oh! Bruce's new movie should be coming out next month. or... later this month!go see it and Bruce! Clicky clicky!
Speaking of Bruce, I picked up Make Love The Bruce Campbell way in the bargain bin this week.Holli
that was a fun read, holli. enjoy!andrew, that simpsons art link is awesome. there are four or five pages of posts. good stuff.
speaking of Bruce Campbell, I have the make love book at home and have yet to read it. Also, I started watching Burn Notice. What a cool show! I'm on episode 4 of season 1.
I need to open one of these places in Memphis. I'd be my own best client. Holli
ally, it'll be a good read while you recover from your grueling pole dancing classes.
Finally listening to Confessions of Internet Canadians. Glad to hear about the immigration policy of Canada because if we ever end up with a President Palin, I'm heading North.Holli
i've officially signed up for the pole classes. my first class will be on november 12. what's sad is that, that's probably when i'll start reading the book.i have confessions: canada at home and still haven't listened to it. maybe today is a good day since they're holiday-ing over there.
dont worry, holli. we've decided to scrap the election and just have a contest to see how many times each candidate can say Pie in under two minutes. winner takes all.
Yup...it's a holiday. However, I'm still working. Ironic, considering no one is on the roads today--yes, because it's a holiday. Today I get to fly over empty hwys, and try to figure out how to get the blog page on my work blackberry. Yay!
That's pretty funny Kim - lol (aside from the unfortunate fact that you do actually have to work). So how many times have you had to go on air today and say "all is clear"?
what's for thanksgiving dinner, kim?not that i expect you to cook for all of us.but it would be nice. :p
Palmer -- sounds like as good a method as any, and much faster than a debate. This week's dilemma debate vs. Project Runway finale. Maybe Heidi can just "auf" one of the candidates and we'll be done with it.Are there traditional Canadian Thanksgiving foods? What are they?Holli
"Ralph- said... ka-blami""wait... i'm confused."
"dude, we said ka-blamo......HARD"
hey blogspottica! I'm in Ottawa at the gf's brother's place. We had Thanksgiving dinner with family on Saturday so everyone could visit in-laws in various parts of Quebec and Ontario. I was a few hours late because I had a hockey game to play. Got my once every 15 months goal! As for traditional foods, we eat what you eat, we just spell them with u's and no marshmallows allowed. Some of us eat hams instead of turkey. Not me.
I am not a fan of Turkey as an entrée, but love the sandwiches the next day. I LOVE all of the Thanksgiving sides however. Rolls, Stuffing, Mash Potoatoes, Green Beans, Cranberries ... ALL OF IT!In a completely different Ralph News...I just found out that i may be quoted on the back of a Graphic Novel!
bitch, please.what you talking about, apel?cuz it sounds pretty friggin' cool. may have to set aside some money for a Ralph-endorsed graphic novel./and the big Madman collection too
i was chatting with the creator of the roberts on im and i said something about his book that struck him funny. he said, i am gonna put that on the back of the trade. i know that i hit it off with them when i interviewed them, but to just say, i am gonna put that on the back of the book during an im is crazy talk! i mean, that is prime real estate, right? so cool. i dont want to talk it up too much, cause he may decide to change his mind and i will look like a braggin idiot. anyway. whew.
Canadian Thanksgiving not much different than the US--other than the date. It's just me this year for thanksgiving, so my thanksgiving dinner: take out Shrimp Phad Thai. Awesome.Congrats Ralph! Which novel?
I'm not diggin Heroes.
I ain't diggin the Dodgers.
i'm not diggin' a slow blogspot.what's up, people? anyone watching season 1 of LOST on SciFi? i usually catch at least part of the 7 o clock episode, but not the 8, 9, or 10 o clock episode.man, season 1 was a damned good season.
I always forget about LOST on Sci Fi. Does it have those annoying pop-ups? I'm still trying to catch up on the stuff on my DVR from last week. For some reason I'm more interested in cheesy Bravo shows than anything else. I just watched Housewives of Atlanta, and OMG! The wife of some NBA guy wants to hire 8 people to run her household. I never watched Orange County, but damn, these women make the NYC bunch look very, very tame.I've also got Dexter on DVD from Netflix and am trying to find time for it. Each episode is almost an hour. Frankly it makes me miss the broadcast 42 minutes. And then I still have to finish catching up on BSG. I need someone to pay me to watch TV and do all the other things I need to do. Maybe those Atlanta women will hire me.Holli
no annoying pop-ups.but it does have Sayid asking Boone permission to bone Shannon. that was weird.i'm six episodes into Mad Men. gotta wait for netflix to send the next six or so. interesting show so far.
- i haven't watched any of the Lost rebroadcasts. I think i'm kind of allergic to the Sci-Fi channel, plus, even though i love factoids, the pop-up episodes on ABC last year did nothing for me. I have been meaning to rewatch Season 1 on DVD though. I've heard a couple fo podcasts mention episodes, like Charlie getting strung up, and my thought was, 'that WAS season 1, wasn't it?"- i marathoned all of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" and i really liked it. From afar, it just looks like a show about shock humor and one-upping bad taste moments, but its better than that. There's a nice continuity to the show and great performances by the main cast (some of the supporting cast goes a little broad)- went ahead and deleted "Sons Of Anarchy" from the DVR. I watched the first 3 episodes, and then found myself with zero interest in continuing. I love Ron Perlman and Katie Segal, but they're just not enough.- I would delete "The Shield" because i think this season is complete shit, but its the last season and i want to see the show's conclusion.- I'm still really enjoying "True Blood." The internet seems to hate it, but it's one of the shows that i look forward to the most.
God Bless America, Ralph.
i had a long discussion with one of my friends about whether or not Christina Hendricks was wearing prosthetics to enhance her figure. I just remembered her being very petite in Firefly, and with the beautiful job that Mad Men's make-up department did with Peggy in season one, i figured it was possible. I figure there probably is some corset work, but her appearance at the Emmy's settled the bet.Mad Men pulled off a bit of a coup in the beautiful actresses department.
I thought Peggy was all Peggy. I thought she gained weight for the show. But I'm not sure.
i marathoned all of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" and i really liked it. From afar, it just looks like a show about shock humor and one-upping bad taste moments, but its better than that. There's a nice continuity to the show and great performances by the main cast (some of the supporting cast goes a little broad)I couldn't agree more. I originally thought the same thing and dismissed it for the longest time. A few friends of mine whose taste in comedy I do not trust, loved it so that really kept me away. Then somebody I really trust told me they really liked it, so I gave it a shot. I ended up watched all 3+ seasons in a couple weeks. Good stuff.Just watched an old episode of Homicide with a curly haired Howie Mandel playing a gay interior designer. lol.
Another viewer here in agreement re: Always Sunny. It does indeed go beyond the shock humor (which IS undeniably central to it's style) and has actors who seem to actually take the humor seriously enough (sounds odd to say - lol) to avoid having it become a slapstick "pie-in-the-face" extravaganza of sorts. It kind of reminds me of elements of Kids in the Hall - perhaps it's the fearlessness mixed with an obviously fertile imagination for comedy.
So has anyone over here who started watching Heroes Season 3 given up on it? I'm seeing a lot of blog-o-sphere types who've called it quits in the last 2 weeks, and I'm wondering about the "real" people on the Interwebs.Holli
Holli, I could deal with the mindlessness of season three but last night the show took a turn toward the dark side. It could be the final straw for me. We'll see.
Women's bowling on ESPN2. YES!
PS3 firmware update tomorrow, PS3ers. looks like we'll get Flash 9 in our browser. which means we can watch... more flash stuff than before? Hulu? dunno. find out tomorrow, i guess.with the new firmware, we can set our controllers and PS3 to shut off after downloading something or to shut off after a few hours. that should be nice.finally saw the third MetroBuzz Comic Con vidcast (only a month late!) and found out i'd made my big MetroBuzz debut as "guy in the background talking to Clif and Jack about football." bad ass. marvel at my goldenrod dharmalars t-shirt!i think i have to wait four days or so before Netflix will send me the second Blu-Ray of Mad Men season 1. is it on Hulu or anything? or just the magic box?
Try not to let it go to your head Palmer. Internet podcasts have created many the ego-maniac.
DL'ing the firmware update now.
Son of a bitch. The update totally jacked my PS3 up. I can't get it to start up. Argh! Looks like it happened to a few others as well. Palmer, I'd check online before dl'ing. Might want to wait til they figure out what is causing some people probs.
i thought the firmware update was out last night so i checked for a firmware update and found out that i, apparently, didn't have 2.43 yet. or something.when was the last time you updated your firmware? were you at 2.43 before?i'm gunna have to look for some info on the interwebs.for non-PS3ers, 'sup?
What's up? Supernatural 2:13, Houses of the Holy. My obsession is growing.
what are you going to do when you run out of episodes on DVD?!
I'm dreading that already.p, watch tomorrow night on the CW at 9.It's going to be hilarious.
jordan,"Alright here is exactly what I did a for shutdown by holding the power button on the PS 3 after the thriple beep sounded and it blinked off then did a restart and went to do the video force adjust it gave a single beep and came back. Did a restart and and then it gave a message that the hard drive was corrupted and it was restoring. Did this twice and now its up and running again Scrapper and all others give this a shot."says some rando on fixing his bricked PS3. sounds like it's worth a try.here's the thread:http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3updates&thread.id=25462&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
- shit, after i saw the trailer for Frost/Nixon, i had no interest in seeing it, but now because of this, i guess i'll have to.- Watched "Body Of Lies" last night. It was better than i expected. Not a very memorable movie, but an engaging one. As someone with a mild affliction of southern accent, I really wish Leonardo & Russell didn't try.- As a fitting double feature, i also watched "Standard Operating Procedure", the new Errol Morris documentary about Abu Ghraib. It was one of the more even-handed Errol Morris docs. Danny Elfman did the music.- Jordan, i dl'd that Homicide movie but didn't get a chance to watch it yet. Thanks for that.
Thanks P. I found that last night. Didn't work for me. I'm currently trying some other things, before I call Sony. Argh, this is frustrating. I'm pretty sure right now my best case scenario is a re-format. Means I'll lose everything. And I was at the end of MGS4! Fuck those bitches in Oklahoma.
I've been away for two days. Did I miss much?
jordan, can you hook your PS3 hard drive to a 'puter and copy the saved games over?methinks i'll backup my PS3 hard drive before i update. just in case.chris, you missed roughly half a dozen Who rumors on the BBS. and two days of fun on the blogspot, apparently. good to have you back.
and you missed a kablamo. fool of a took!
I am back in time to pimp Stephanie and my appearance on the Trivia War Podcast.I haven't listened yet, so I don't know if we won.
Curse my 108-blindness :(
I can't link any more, clearly.Trivia War iTunes link: hereSite: here
P, I don't know how I'd hook up the hard drive to my computer. I don't have a laptop. And the PS3 uses that format of hd. Plus, I'm thinking the hd might be corrupt at this point. I thought I found a fix for a moment. I found a way to try and update the firmware via a memory stick with dl'd data from the net. But when I use it to install from a formatting menu, it gets to about 60% installed and just re-boots. I called Sony and spoke to a tech who was absolutely no help. She didn't seem to know what was going on and asked me if my PS3 had ever come into contact with water. SIGH.
Smart thinking about backing up your data. I'm kicking myself, because I was thinking about doing the same thing just a few days ago.
FIXED IT!And did so just after getting off the phone with Sony who told me to send it in for repairs.P, seeing as how I'm sure we've already bored the others to death. I'll post in the PS3 thread on the forum what I did.
Being able to watch Hulu on the ps3is awesome!
it's a SATA drive (2.5inch like a laptop) but SATA connections are the same between 3.5 and 2.5 inch drives.if you have an extra SATA cable and a SATA power majigger on your power supply, you could hook it up (really ugly like) to your desktop. it'd be hanging out the side, but it could be done.there are also SATA to USB devices you could buy. they're around 15 or 20 bucks.not sure what the data on a PS3 hard drive looks like at the moment but i've got my backup on an external hard drive so i could look into it later tonight.:\
sweet. gunna check out that thread now.congrats.you should be able to Zoom in on Hulu since fullscreen won't work.
Now I want a PS3 for Xmas. Any word on how low the price might go in these economic hard times?Holli
Word is that BSG is back Jan. 16th.Holli
WHAT?!nice. that's much better than April.
That's what Mo Ryan said Ausiello said. Hopefully it's right.Holli
Congrats Trevor. I'm most certainly jealous.
Got your tickets yet Trevor?Holli
go phillies!unless the red sox make the playoffs. then i will be killed on the street if i root for any other team.
p.s. best baseball video game ever
Sorry guys (maybe just Kim?) for the delay. I asked her (no ring) she said yes!, she showed me what type of ring she liked, and then promptly left for Spain. She arrived just in time to help welcome her sister's new baby Sofia. Now I've got 2 weeks to find a ring that she'll like that won't leave me broke. In other news, I have the day off today, so I'm heading out to the pool.
Congrats Drake! I'm happy everything worked out for you and your now finacee :)PS> Where is everyone? 'spots been slow all week
- Congratulations Drake! Lots of Taco Nights in your future! (the set-up...)- I just found out that "The Road" was filmed around Pittsburgh. I knew Vigo was in town earlier this year, but didn't realize it was for a movie i'd actually want to see. I guess, our bleak landscape is a good stand-in for the post-apocalypse.- Mad Men Illustrated
Holli--2 tix for game 3, standing room only!!!!
I'm here. Got nothing to contribute. Just wish I had watched the debate last night so I would be getting all the Joe the Plumber jokes going around. Excited for The Baby Shower tonight as well as Monster Movie. Going shopping for jeans tonight. Not for me. Mom never gets anything new.
Trevor, Holy crap man! That's awesome!!! What did you do for those? Wait, I might not want to know.I remember back in 2001, some friends and myself stayed up all night from about 6pm til 10am the next morning to get M's-Yankees ALCS tix. Oh, those were the days.
McFur, happy that you got tix!!! (Let's hope The Phillies don't have a repeat of their last showing in the World Series in 1993--I'm a bitch I know.) At last your team has made the play-offs since then.I've acutally been rooting for The Phillies this post-season, because they're the lesser of the other 3 evils. I couldn't ever support The Red Soxs (sorry P) or The Rays.
kim, i'm not a baseball fan. besides Earl Weaver baseball for the Amiga 500... but the Red Sox are my de facto team by area. really, i dont watch baseball and dont much care for it.i guess i'm more interested in them than i'm interested in the bruins or the celtics.Jordan, i had a Mariners hat that my Seattle-based Aunt sent me for the longest time. years and years. it survived all sorts of things. but it couldnt survive being vomited all over by my parent's elderly cat.RIP, vomit cat. RIP, vomit hat.
"but it couldnt survive being vomited all over by my parent's elderly cat."That is the perfect metaphor for Seattle sports in general right now. lol. Which hat was it? The current one, or one of the old ones? When I graduated high school, my parents threw me a party. Besides friends, my mom also invited a bunch of her friends. I don't know who it was who got me it, but some moron gave me a Yankee hat as a present. You know what I did with that. Took it in the back yard and burnt it. lol.Nice jab about your Blue Jays, Canada. Real subtle.
No crazy stunts to get the tix ... but, using credit cards to buy things you can't afford, that's a good thing right?Kim, that's really cruel. How'd the Jays do this year, by the way? Or for the last 14 years...Not sure who I'm rooting for as opponent. Boston has the experience, and if they come back again, they'll be full of confidence and will obviously have straightened out whatever problems they have now. Tampa looks pretty scary good right now, but I just can't believe in them. But also, Tampa and Philly have a bad history together ... the Bucs beat the Eagles in 2003 in the NFC Championship and went on to win the Superbowl (2002/03 team was the real missed opportunity for the Eagles to win the SB). Then, in 2004, the Philadelphia Flyers lost in the Eastern Conference finals to ... the Tampa Bay Lightning, who then went on to win the Stanley Cup. So Tampa scares me too.
i think it started off as purple with a greenish brim.i typed that the vomit was a portent of things to come for seattle sports but deleted it in case Seattlite blogspotters were sore about the subject.i'm still amazed that the Seahawks entered the Superbowl to "Bittersweet Symphony." yeesh...
Trev, so I shouldn't say that I'm hoping for a Philly/Rays World Series? B/c that's what I am hoping for. If the Red Sox make it, I'll rip my arm off.
"If the Red Sox make it, I'll rip my arm off."awesome. put it on youtube!/dont really rip your arm off//or a leg
It's ok to root for the Rays to make it, just make sure that you root for the Phils to win it. I think that I Rip your arm off? Bruce Campbell would be proud.
I'm rooting for the Phillies. I despise all sports team's in Boston, as they've been so spoiled over the past few years. And I don't like watching expansion teams winning either. Both make me insecure as a miserable Seattle sports fan. So go Phillies. Plus, they got 50 year old ex-M, Jamie Moyer.
I'm a twitter noob "mrbillbtce"any hints or things a noob might neet to know?
Steph says to add a lot of people, or you'll get bored. I didn't do that, and I got bored of it. So I'm guessing she's right.
Looks like Heroes and Chuck are both doing horrible ratings wise. Yet Two and a Half Men continues to dominate Monday nights. If there's a reason to lack faith in our country's ability to get out of this economic crisis and political world problems, Two & a Half Men and According to Jim is all the evidence you need. Can't wait for President Palin in a couple years. lol.
Thanks I just found you jordan. Also anyone have any great costume ideas I thought this halloween I would be a professional ninja luchadore.luchadore mask with button down shirt and tie and ninja pants and shoes.
I never got into any sitcoms since barney miller.
in case you missed them everywhere else on the internet, pics from the new Star Trek movie. directed by JJ Abrams and written by the guys who brought you Porkules and Bumblebee pissing on John Turturro.
Had to get 2 wisdom teeth pulled today. I wonder why it is that every other field of medicine has made quantum advances over the years ... but tooth extraction is still basically a guy with a pair of pliers yanking as hard as he can.Damn my mouth hurts.
Trev I had 2 pulled at one time and it hurt but I recovered rather quickly. Two days out of work with pain pills and my xbox 180 big fun.
Yes, I am right. I follow 533 people and 315 follow me. I always have someone to converse with. Jordan, another point to add is that stupid chihuahua dog movie is number one again at the box office. Is that what America wants to see?
I imagine that America wants to see anything at the moment that they don't have to vote about later.Do you know how we got our current Prime Minister, Gordon Brown? Before Tony Blair was voted in, he and Gordon went for a meeting in a restaurant and Tony essentially said "let's campaign like sods - if we get voted in, I'll be Prime Minister for a bit, then you can have a go" and over ten years in power later, he did exactly that.We are currently being run by a person who we did not vote into power. How does that sound to ya?
I'm looking for a free alternative for Quicken do any of you folks know of a good one?
Free Quicken? Fricken?
"I'm looking for a free alternative for Quicken do any of you folks know of a good one?"...paper?i keed, i keed. :)nope, don't have any useful information whatsoever.except to say that gordon brown looks a bit like terry jones from monty python. the key being that only one of them is trying to be funny.ok, mr. bill, i googled for you. http://zenhabits.net/2007/05/6-great-free-alternatives-to-quicken-ms-money/ no idea whether the products recommended are crap or not. but that link might point you in a direction to do some research from. good luck!/blogspotters fly together!
Paper...I Love it. LOLI dint use quicken but a friend asked me if I had it and I thought there was something like somewhere like open office or something.
We are currently being run by a person who we did not vote into power. How does that sound to ya?i don't want to get political but...
The other Terry Jones lookalike is John "The Daily Show, The Bugle, Political Animal, Mock the Week" Oliver.I like how he went from being the swarthy one on Mock the Week to being the pale one on The Daily Show.
Good morning, blogspot. Feel free to post anything interesting to start the conversation. Cause I got nothing. Oh wait. How about that Office? I thought it was very, very funny. Except for Dwight by his self.
good episode. jim and pam were pretty boring. dwight was a little over the top (more so than usual). but a pretty damned funny episode.anyone watch Earl?! holy crap that was hilarious.
- i don't know why i don't watch Earl any more. I guess i decided the humor was too predictable, even though the show often had some classic lines. - still love the Office, but it's developing into more of a melodrama than a sitcom. When Jan said she was going to go lie down for a minute, I really expected her to die and end up leaving Michael to raise the baby.My favorite moment was angela tryign to take the Anne Geddes styled baby-as-flower photo.- I'm fairly positive that the SNL show resorted to using a laugh track.- Got in some new music at the store, so i'm excited about that today.
I don't know if you guys saw this on SNL Mark Wahlberg talks to animals. He was on Jimmy Kimmel with a response.
I think that's all a publicity stunt.
It may be but it looked pretty real to me and Marky Mark doesn't really have that good of a sense of humor.Who knows?
It would be funny if he showed up on SNL and decked Andy Samberg.Delivering Max Payne!!
Fox News: "Comedians are big meanies!"How could the last guy in this video say that with a straight face? And to think that Fox News is shown in 40+ countries around the world. NO WONDER the world hates us!
OMG! Who cares about Bill Ayers? Nobody does. But Fox is not going to shut up about him until it turns a few undecided voters.
Trust me, to judge from my father-in-law's emails, it's working in some places. Though that's not with undecided voters. I love how David Letterman called McCain on consorting with G. Gordon Liddy, Watergate plumber, last night.I'm off to vote in the next 2 hours. I seriously hope I can manage to tune everything out after that.Holli
don't bother worrying about the elections. we're all going to be killed by robots anyhow.
wow - didn't realize the Wahlberg had that little of a sense of humor. oh well. too bad. Also,I generally avoid posting anything political here (and will continue to do so after this post) but I will say this re: Ayers and the current election issues - I'm pretty certain that the fact that the Republicans are continuing and stepping up the Obama-is-a-terrorist angle so much, and their sudden interest in voter fraud (don't get me started on their ACORN accusations), are not unrelated to the fact that they are falling farther and farther behind in most polls. As much of a political junkie as I become around election time, I really am ready to for it to end. This one has gone on so long (if you consider how long the primary candidates campaigned from mid-2007 on) I have changed addresses, expanded my family by one, and watched and podcasted about an entire season of Lost since the media started talking about the 2008 election.I say this of course as someone who made up his mind re: the candidates a while ago.
Palmer, you have no idea how right you are.Watch this clip. FF to 3 min in.
If we're going to start talking political injustices. What about THIS INJUSTICE!
World Animal Day.Holli
You're right about this thing going on forever mb. I really hope that McCain's strategy doesn't work, not because of political reasons, but because, if he does come back, it means that every election from here on out will just be a complete slimefest (and probably hatefest) from start to finish.
Marky Mark meets a green sea turtle... Ahem..Hey there big green sea turtle from Bora Bora, I'm Mark Wahlberg you know me. I like your shell it looks really great. So, you're endangered right? Me to, I'm an actor that plays every character with the same voice and inflection. I'll be doing it again in my next movie, and every movie after that. Ok turtle it was good to meet you.Say hi to your mother for me ok. End Scene.
lol mr. Bill....HEEEEEEYYYYYY WAIT-A-MINUTE!!!I didn't notice your initials B4!!!!Shit. now my podcast bosses are going to think we're the same person;D/what?!? i keed!
Hey Blogspot, what's new?I'm well... ordered a new Macbook... so far it's made its way from Shanghai to Anchorage and should get here in a couple days...I've been alone with the boy as the gf works hard away from home, so busy, busy, busy!!!Canada voted and the NOTHING REALLY CHANGED!!!!! thank the gods we only campaign for 5 weeks... Back to curling while drinking Tim Hortons coffee and donuts... not really...Later!!!P.S. I hope MYOKOM with SAS winds the Metrobuzz trivia competition and then shares their prize money with all of us here :-D
Another reason to wish I were in Italy. The Memphis equivalent would be flowing ketchup based BBQ sauce.Holli
I hope that you wouldn't think that a bad thing, Holli.
Watch out Northeast residentsHolli
- well, if you need any anecdotal evidence, the weather in Pittsburgh today is perfection.- Mad Men fans - Don Draper is on the newest episode of Doug Benson's I Love Movies podcast. I love that podcast anyway. It's a regular stand-up routine with comedians just talking about movies. i was pleasantly surprised when one of the guests this week was John Hamm.
Can't wait to listen. John Hamm doesn't seem to be very funny. But maybe I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong.
Doug Benson is doing his podcast again? I thought he stopped doing it a year ago or so. I don't like Benson as a stand up, but I really liked that podcast. He has a lot of funny friends. Just comedians sitting around talking about movies. Usually high. lol.
- yeah, he starts and stops the podcast, so there are big lulls. It seems like a really easy podcast to do (he just gets up before the Upright Citizens Brigade show and invites out some friends who are already there for the show) and it seems relatively popular, so i hope he just keeps doing them.- i'm at work today, blah. I'm treating myself to some pizza, which i will regret later.- Anybody have any birthday gift ideas for my dad? He likes the red sox, wine, italian food and the stock market.
Had it really been a year since I recommended this to Andrew?
I'm really looking forward to out election season. You know how long ours lasts?Four weeks. In, out and thanks. Done.
Four weeks would be great. It would save a lot of money, that's for sure. It's starting to seem like an election season starts as soon as the last one ends.
The only thing is that you don't vote for the leader of your country, as previously stated. You vote for your local council person - and whoever gets voted into that position secures the "seat" for the party that they represent. The party that ends up with the most of these councils ends up running the country. It's up to the party themselves who becomes Prime Minister (sometimes it's not even the party leader, but it usually is).And that's it. So however hard your local councilperson may campaign, really people only get voted in for their party not for what they said they'd do.I know that a few times in the past it's not been until the ballot paper is in my hand that I see who it is I'm actually voting for.'Tis a weird system, but it does at least mean that you don't get these guys begging for your votes one second, then being the single most powerful individual on Earth the next.
BTW..."In, out and thanks. Done."TWHS.That sort of system really wouldn't fly here. It's kind of funny to watch McCain's campaign yell, "Socialist!" at Obama after the both of them signed this big bailout bill, and after McCain proposed that the government buy up people's bad mortgages.
Out of interest, has it been news that over here we have also had a taxpayer bank bailout to the tune of £50bn?
I find it amazing that both dems and reps call the other Fascist.
Its been news, but it's not exactly been big news, if you know what I mean.
I thought about trying to work out if fifty billion pounds spread out among the population of the UK compared favourably with 700 billion dollars spread over the population of the US but in the end neither answer will cheer me up.So I didn't.I'll shut up now.
But what with the current exchange rate that's about even isn't it Chris. ;-) Or maybe they're making the diff up with DVD surcharges.Holli
We even out if the adult, tax-paying population of the US is about seven times that of the UK.If, of course, it's much more than seven times then it'll be business as usual in the "me moaning about transatlantic monetary anomalies", so I really am not going to work it out.
We do, however, get five Rock Riddles to the pound.
