Nice tribute to our hurricane victims.Holli
the part they dont show you is the bear mauling and eating the anchorman.
anchorman?i love lamp.
Bear Attack PSA
Nice PSA Palmer...I wish that guy in the bear costume would have had the sense to be carrying a pic-nic basket...
I was hoping he'd get hit with a big wave or something.
There must be some facial expression class in Britain that both Damien Lewis and Jamie Bamber took. I'm watching Life and I'm seeing Lee Adama half the time. Which is not to say that I think Bamber is in any way the superior actor to Lewis. Lewis is spectacular in Band of Brothers.Holli
Drove around quite a bit tonight. Amazing to see dark neighborhoods everywhere. Very few have power even in my area of the city. I believe that it will be weeks for some. My mother-in-law lives on a lake 45 miles north of here and they have been told 3-4 weeks. You guys who don't live in this heat and humidity can't imagine the misery of no A/C here. What I truly enjoy seeing is the morons who didn't evacuate complaining that FEMA isn't doing enough. When did personal responsibility disappear in our society? The frickin' boats laying on the roads are the most telling images of all to me. I can't imagine how long it will take for life to return to normal here. My kids have no school until at least Thursday, maybe longer. They are ignorantly delighted. Robert
i like that there is obviously no danger on that beach, which sucks for the reporter, cause i am sure he was going to talk about how dangerous it was there.
For those who know of Tim the Jellyman and wonder where he's been...
very sorry about the events surrounding the postponement to 2009.however, i'm looking forward to charting your progress next year.dont be a stranger, tim. it's good to have you around the blogspot.tim and other englishmen, my friend is a huge fan of the In-Betweeners. i saw the first episode and, meh, it was OK... not my cup of tea so far. ever seen it?
Palmer, thanks man...
And yes - i've seen the Inbetweeners, it's like grange hill mixed with the awkwardness of the Office, with more swearing - i like it, it's actually like i was at school...
In-Betweeners?I didn't watch it as i have taste./watches Hole In The Wall :(
I understood that The Inbetweeners was kinda like teenage Peep Show.Which probably means it started off funny and divebombed quite tragically.
Someone just called a local radio station who lives in my general area and said that the Centerpoint Energy trucks were out here early because a Centerpoint executive lives in a VERY big house near me. My guilt grows. Robert
Robert don't be guilty, instead invite over people to enjoy your air. Someone had to get their power back first.Holli
even better, invite everyone to the CEO's house. :Dhow's the drinking water situation over there? be careful not to get sick.
Blogspot favorite Bruce Campbell in the NYTimes.Holli
Saw a trailer for The In-Betweeners but it didn't grab me - what channel is it on?
Anyone want to be on my podcast this week? Any takers?
So, no one's heard from Ally yet? I'm sure she's ok. I've been watching the coverage of the storm all weekend. Some places definately worse than others--but I'm glad is wasn't AS bad as they first projected. TIM!! I was wondering where you were. Glad to hear from you, and good luck in 2009!
You guys may soon see video just taken by a local TV station's helicopter showing over 50 freightors moored in the Gulf waiting for the Houston Ship Channel to reopen. It looks like frickin' D-day out there. This just amplifies to me the far reaching effects of these natural disasters. Robert Geraldo Rivera reporting from my iPhone in Houston
Elias - I think The Inbetweeners is one of those ones that's on both Channel 4 and E4 and you're never sure which one it shows on first. We're down one more member of Pink Floyd, RIP Rick Wright. Sad day for British music.
It started as an E4 show. Then when it got good ratings, it got a rerun on C4. Just like Skins.Ooh. I can't wait for Skins season 3.
I've been avoiding 4 and E4 for a while - Big Brother and whatever else they schedule. Isn't Skins like Hollyoaks?Chris - a fan of Pink Floyd? Sad day indeed. They got booed off stage in Ealing back in the Syd Barrett days for being too f**king weird.
Skins is sooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than Hollyoaks! Skins focuses on 16-18 year olds and it deals with topics like that... but it's much more entertaining than how i made it sound.
Kim, Alirio has volunteered you to come on and discuss SYTYCD Canada. When is good for you?
Am I the last person on this blog to know that "Lost" began running in syndication on both The SciFi Channel and G4 this week? Daily on G4 and weekly on SciFi, I think. Those were the good old days of "Lost."Robert
just saw that news the other day Robert - so if you're the last, I'm the 2nd to last - lol
Yes, they were "pretending to console each other". That's exactly what they were doing.
New episode is up.
Hooray! Also: I've just discovered that, in going to see Extreme in November (yeah, yeah - whatever), I will also be witnessing Justin Hawkins, formerly of The Darkness, with his new bunch, Hot Leg.I'm either excited or terrified. Excerrified?
i'm here!!! i'm at work today. there's still no power at home, which sucks. there was no horrible damage other than a missing gate and some tree limbs on the front yard. but my house is still standing and we're all ok. i'm trying to upload pictures from my surrounding neighborhood, i'll email them later. shoot me an email if you want me to email you the pictures. firstname.lastname@example.org~ i missed prison break yet again! i'm starting to think i'm not meant to see it this season (on tv, that is). from the looks of it, unless my power gets restored miraculously in the next few hours, chances are i'll miss fringe as well.
hulu, ally, hulu!!fantastic to hear from you. even better to hear that you're safe and sound. phew!any roof damage like at Robert's place?hurricanes can be some scary stuff.
Ally! This is the best news I've heard all day!
my roof is fine. a couple of my neighbors weren't so lucky.here's some pictures from my neighborhood.
Ally!! Glad to hear from you! I'm going to take a look at your pics nowSteph!! I'm going away this weekend (I leave Thurs night to Mon night) If you want to record this week, I'm free Wed--or if you want to wait until next week I'm good any day
(Ally, I can't see your pics)

wassup blogspotters,- Ike sent some gusty winds up to Pittsburgh, and as a result i haven't had power since Sunday.Right after the 1st quarter of the Steelers / Browns game, there was a small explosion right outside of my window with sparks flying everywhere. The report is that there are over 5,000 power lines down across the city, and i probably won't have power at home until saturday or monday.- Power at work. i guess that's a good thing. nice to have A/C and the internet anyway.- i'm downloading all of my stories now. most of my shows come on Sunday & Monday. I wonder if i can get the rest of that football game.- Stephanie, i'd love to take part on the podcast some day.- glad the hurrispotters and bears made it through Ike okay.
it's pretty crazy around here. a lot of people left town so it's quiet. no power/little power means you have to treat each stop light as a 4 way stop, which adds a lot more time to your trip. a lot of stop lights are either hanging, pushed to the other side or gone altogether. i can't imagine what it looks like where there was "real damage". here on my side of town is where they're holding a lot of the staging areas for the red cross, FEMA and the military that are heading out to where it's bad. it's crazy to be hanging out in your backyard and seeing all these military helicopters flying by.
Ally -- so glad that you are doing well even if you are hot and sweaty and being forced to work. Thanks for sharing those pictures.Andrew -- hope your power is back on soon as well. Does the power outage explain the power outage on offense in that Steelers game? And speaking of football what does the Eagles backer Trevor McFur have to say about Mr. Jackson's premature ejaculation of the football last night?Holli
most people showed up to work today, just because there's power here, which they don't have at home. how's that for incentive?
you know what i hate? when people post horrible old photos of you on facebook.:| :| :| :|
Hits Facebook.Types in Herlihy's True Name.Makes no progress whatsoever.Boo.
LOL, Chris.I don't think I ever had any luck finding Herlihy on Facebook either. Find us, herlihy!
Huff.Alright. Here I amI've used my best friend "remove tag" on the horrible photo though. bahahahaha.
Well, THAT's no fun.
Sorry. but it was in my "Nu Romantic" phase a couple of years ago. Where i thought that if music didn't have an effeminate make up strewn man singing over synth laden odes, that it wasn't really music at all. That was a good night though. I upset one of my work mates because i could put eye liner on better than her. hahaha.
Did you look anything like this guy?
More like Ricky Gervais in his music days :(
Excellent! Let's see if I can find a picture of that...Yes, I can!
Thanks for that. I'm well prettier than him though.
...This is where everyone's supposed to say that i am well prettier than him. :(
Well, yes - you are.Although on your main FB pic you look a bit like Val Kilmer with deep red hair.
we could, if we had that original picture to look at.
Deep red? you mean brown? Although i did put the brown dye on the bright red hair. so... maybe that's why.Ally - no! Don't think you can trick me into showing it! you devious scamp!
hahaha! it was worth a shot.
I'd have been disappointed if you didn't!
i'm sure most of you have seen this poster. Dane Cook is analyzing it on his blog. It's hilarious.
So will we be discussing Fringe 1.2 later tonight?Holli
i'm not sure i will, holli. but that's because i don't think i'll be able to watch, although i do want to. are you thinking about giving up already?
No Ally, I'm going to give Fringe a few weeks. We'll see how it goes. Holli
well i'm going home now, to the darkness. it was fun to pretend to be in a normal place for a while. tomorrow, i'm gonna go try out the new job to see if i like it. depending on what happens there, i'll tell these people here that i'm outta here. anywho, i hope i get power back soon, missing all this new tv is killing me!
Kim, steph!I'm actually going to be working in Toronto next week. If you'd like, we could podcast from there.Let me know.On a completely unrelated note:I have a hockey game to night at 10:45. Fracking 10:45!!! Some times I wish I didn't love hockey so much.Who am I kidding? I can't wait to jump on the ice and try to stop before inadvertently cross-checking someone.
I won't be discussing Fringe. I know others here liked it, but it was not for me. Didn't feel it at all. Speaking of not feeling it. Burn After Reading. Ugh. Saw it last night. I swear the Coens could crap on a stick and critics would praise it. Probably the most pointless movie I've seen this year. And I saw Vantage Point.
Wow Jordan that's strong given your opinion on Vantage Ponit. :-D I wonder if that means I'd like Burn After Reading? Careful how you answer that.Holli
Alirio and Kim, I feel like crap this week. It was all I could do to get this show out. Next Thursday I'm heading to the beach. And next Wednesday Chris and I are recording with Trivia War podcast. So, early in the week might work. Let's shoot for that.Andrew, I would consider it an honor to have you on my show.
Steph - lol - that partially answers the question I was going to email you with: about when to record with you? Sounds like you've got a full plate this week - no worries. But I suppose Chris and I should finish the splice first (perhaps w/Emily?). I'll email both of you and work it out.
Holli, I was speaking with our friend Kimberley. And she hated the movie more than I did. I should clarify my earlier comments. It's not a horrible film. It has interesting and at times humorous characters. But besides that, zip. There isn't one single thing about the script to me that is interesting or anything of substance. I know it's a goofy movie that doesn't take itself serious. That is fine. But it has no point. When it ended, I found myself thinking, "What was the point of any of that?" Trust me. If it wasn't done by the Coens and didn't have Clooney, Pitt, etc in it, it would have been lambasted by critics.
And I still think Vantage Point is a truly horrible movie. It's funny. EVERYBODY I know here in Seattle who saw it HATED it. But then I go online, mainly here, and people liked it. I dunno. Maybe it's a regional thing. And forgot to say to Ally that I'm glad she's safe. Sucks about the no power. Hopefully it will come back soon.I'm off to the cinema to see some more films tonight. I will be sure to report on what I end up seeing.
Steph, looks like Tuesday is the best day. Does that work for you Alirio? You're going to be in Toronto then, right?I did HATE Burn After Reading. HATED it. I like the characters...George Clooney was funny as was Francis McDormet...but that's it. I wanted to walk out of the theatre. The Coen Bros have reached a point in their career where they can get away with murder--especially after winning an Oscar for their previous movie. It was TERRIBLE.
Kim,Tuesday will be great!I'll be working downtown until 4:00.We'll figure things out then via Facebook, I imagine?Off to play hockey... GO ICEMEN GO!
I'VE GOT THE POWER!it came just in time for me to watch Fringe. Steph~ I'm just now getting over a cold, so as soon as I'm over that, I'll take up your invite to be on your podcast.
Yeah for Ally. I'll go over to the boards to talk Fringe tomorrow am. General review -- the last 5 minutes will make me watch again; the first 35 meh.Holli
Glad to see you back and safe Ally. Hope that you get your power back up soon ... that can't be a good time. That DeSean Jackson play was astoundingly stupid. At least the Cowboys were already blowing out the Bills at the time. He would never be forgiven if it had cost the Eagles a TD ... as it was, they got the ball back and B. West scored 15 seconds later. My hope is that it embarrassed him and teaches him some humility ... he's really cocky and has done stupid stuff like that before. He's also the best WR the Eagles have drafted since Mike Quick ... and that was in 1982! So we're not gonna be too hard on him.Donovan, on the other hand ... you've been in the league 10 years and you decide to do a double pump on a HANDOFF when you've got the lead late in the game? And you STILL don't know to throw the ball away when you're in the hurry up offense and about to be sacked?!?! Dude, what the hell....
Ally, I would love to have you on. Maybe you can convince me to give Fringe another chance.
Oops, make that, I'm glad to hear that your power's back Ally!
Road trips with Eva Mendes sound AWESOME.http://www.imdb.com/news/ni0567913/
So Colorado's elevation is good for the elevation?Guys - IS MY HAIR TOO LONG?Shaggy!
Depends if you want long hair, Chris. If you don't want long hair then, yes, it is too long.If you want long hair then, no, it is not too long.Saw some good clips of Look Around You the other night. A clip about the brain and one about computers. There was some sort of Shaving Machine in the computer one.Anyhow, fantastic stuff. Especially the stuff about the brain."Think of the brain as a sort of heart. Only with a mind or brain."
"This ghost is cleaning his master's caravan..."
If you like the cats from I Can Has Cheezburgers, you might want to check out Rofl Razzi.Holli
slow day, eh?quick! what's the smoke munster?
Finally watched Fringe last night (the Pilot - still have last night's ep to watch). I liked it - it's no Lost, but I am definitely interested in where they take it.Must head over to to boards and see what people have said.
I've recorded ep 2, but not sure if i'm going to commit to it just yet
Oh - and I watched "Hole in the Wall"My god - it was at least good for a laugh (both AT it and WITH it, but mostly AT it), but I don't think I will be watching regularly. My fave quote though (may not be accurate):"the Wall is taking no prisoners tonight"almost woke up the kids laughing when I heard that one! /"We don't need no education..."//yes apparently
My last off-handed remark just reminded me - RIP Rick Wright (of Pink Floyd). off to the Great Gig in The Sky/"And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do..."
I refuse to watch that show. REFUSE.
Rick WrightThat's right - I occasionally write amateur obituaries. It's a perfectly healthy pastime.
Great site, Chris. Now I want to watch Bruno Kirby in City Slickers.
Thanks, Elias.i had nearly a two year gap where I didn't update at all, and was finally inspired by Geoffrey Perkins.
Kim - you so should watch it. It's amazing! total trash tv. but it's well funny. Got to love a show where there's a TWSS every few minutes.
Is it just me or does Anna Torv, the bint who plays the FBI lady in Fringe, look remarkably similar to Blake Lively, the bint who plays the posh lass in Gossip Girl. It's very striking.
- just watched the Weeds season finale. It was pretty good. When the writers take a breath from changing the plot of the show every episode, they deliver some really poignant moments.I just realized (thanks to IMDB) that Silas's Lisa = Jack Shepherd's Sarah! Totally escaped me. [some inappropriate comment about Sarah hanging out on school playgrounds]
hi gang~i just arrived at my job, went to the soon-to-be new job to go try it out and liked it way better than this one here. i have yet to tell people here that i'm leaving, i don't know how to tell them. and all the sneaking around is making me feel like i'm cheating on my job! like i got here after "an appointment" and i feel like they're looking at me like, you whore!
i have a feeling i won't make it home in time for top model makeovers :(i hope it's not the very first thing they do. maybe i'll catch some of it.
I'm ashamed to admit that I watched Hole in the Wall last week. It was entertaining for about 15 minutes, then it was like, "Oh, OK, another hole. Oh, hey, another hole".
- got power back at the homestead, ahead of schedule! i'm celebrating by catching up on the shows i missed. (and working, blech)maybe i'm just happy to have the boob tube back, but i'm liking everything tonight. Entourage = fun. True Blood = solid and fun (warning, stay away from the AV Club review. 1. they are not enjoying True Blood. 2. assholes in the forum spoiled me on future plot reveal (the show is based on a book series after all)) I bet i'd even be amenable to an episode of Fringe tonight.- i'm really surprised that so many people disliked "Burn After Reading" I had a really good time with it.- Ally - does the new job involve design work?
Weeds is great at surprising me. Would have never imagined THAT was coming.
Is Charlize Theron a giant or Michelle Rodriguez a midget?Holli
I have long pictured Theron as massive, but it could always be a bit of both.Wasn't she on the Daily Show yesterday? How did she compare against Jon Stewart? I won't find out until tonight.
Aren't all MRF's gigantic?
If celebrities were from the MidwestHolli
The Weeds finale was pretty good. A lot better than some of the episodes this season. The first couple seasons of the show were great. Seems like they don't know exactly what to do to recapture the magic. Mary-Louise Parker was really good in this ep. Even better than normal. She really deserves some recognition. And how about Doug's big moment? Haha.So I went and saw Pineapple Express and Righteous Kill last night. I thought PE was hilarious. A few people had told me that they just found it kinda humorous, but I laughed my ass off the entire time. Righteous Kill, which has been absolutely lambasted by critics, wasn't all that bad. Wasn't all that good either. But it was watchable. Was fun watching Deniro and Pacino together. The film was executed a bit sloppy. But when you have low expectations, as I did, you can deal with it. Not close to as bad as the critics say. Which leads me to a bit of a rant. Film critics. I don't know how many of you frequent Rotten Tomatoes or MetaCritic or any other site that gives you quantitative movie reviews and general consensuses. But it has become increasingly apparent to me that at least a good 50-75% of film critics out there do nothing more than wait for enough reviews to come out and then jump on the bandwagon. "Oh, everybody seems to think that Juno is the bestest thing ever. I better go along with them, so I look like I know what I'm talking about." Seems that all movies nowadays are either universally loathed or given a giant circle jerk of praise. Really annoying as nobody seems to have their own thoughts anymore. And there is suddenly no such thing as an "ok, but not great" movie. Everything is either amazing or horrible. Maybe it's a biproduct of this internet age we live in where every fat nerd in his mother's basement qualifies as a critic. The "worst episode ever" fanboy attitude has permeated into mainstream culture and now there is no such thing as a middle ground. It used to be that Joss Whedon fans or Coen Bros admirers would overrate their glorious heros' work, but the rest would judge it with an objective eye. And likewise with angry, frustrated, mad at the world haters. But now, with this copycat critic world that has grown from the "everyone's a critic" internet age, everything has homogenized into one yay or nay lump of lemming-like drivel. I dunno. I guess that the main thing that bothers me is that there are a lot of movies out there that are "ok, but not particularly great or terrible". A lot of things that after I watch them, I think, "That wasn't bad." But it's become a world where if you don't think a movie is Oscar worthy or breath taking and innovative, it by default sucks balls and is a pile of dreck. And as a person who highly believes that most things in life, be it movies, tv shows, books, music, food, what have you, fall into the category of a so called "average middle ground", it just annoys me to no end this sensationalist, "best/worst movie ever" society.I realize the main topic somewhat shifted midway through from copycat critics to sensationalism. But I believe in both parts. Sorry for the rant. It's been a while. I needed the release. And as always, don't take it too seriously. What I type always comes off way more opinionated and intense than I really believe it to be. It's funny that way.Been watching "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". Pretty funny. No "Arrested Development" or "Curb Your Enthusiasm". But a funny little show if you're looking for a stupid time waster.
Jordan, I'm sure your bandwagon idea is absolutely correct, and it's been around a long time because it's the only reason Bridges of Madison County could ever stick around on the NYTimes Bestseller list as long as it did not to mention Oprah's bookclub books.Holli
Holli, I liked that link better the first time I saw it when it was called, "If Celebs were from Oklahoma". lol. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate Oklahoma? Last Sunday at the Hawks game I ran into some old ladies from the big Joke who had attended the UW-OU game the day before. I spouted off some comments about stealing our basketball team and getting the hell out of our state. The old bitch's reply, "Deal with it." Had she not said that, the rest of the game wouldn't have been as bad for her. Without getting into too much detail, let's just say I didn't take it easy on her each and every time she decided to get up and go to the bathroom. Lesson be learned old bitchy ladies from Jokelahoma.
Holli, You're most likely right. I do however feel that the internet has made things much worse. And at least much more noticeable and annoying.Don't even get me started on Orpah and her mindless army. lol.
Yeah Jordan, I agree about the internet. I think it's just broadened the items suitable for bandwagoning. Before I just had to ask myself "can I write off all the critics as elitist suck-ups who don't get what's really entertaining?" Now you have to decide if you want to buck your "community" as defined by various websites. Hell, even Netflix is trying to tell you what you'll like. You don't know me Netflix! You don't.Glad to see your still Oklahating.Holli
I agree entirely, Jordan.
One other thing that is driving me absolutely up the wall. This I'll try to keep shorter than the last. Partisan political know it all's. In no way trying to start anything. But you can't listen to the radio or watch tv without people getting mad at people who don't think like them and using the stupidest argument in the history or arguments. "You don't know what you're talking about. You're just repeating what you've read and/or been told." Really? Then just what the hell are you saying then? Let me get this straight. The person you disagree with is a biproduct of propaganda and lies, but all the facts and accusations you believe to be in, now those are a bastion of truth. Yeah, that's logical. AGAIN, this "all or nothing" society we live in. I'm right, you're wrong. I'm good, you're bad. You're either with us or you're against us. I know everything, you know nothing. SIGH.
"You don't know me Netflix! You don't."HAHAHAHA! So true. So true.
Final Burn Notice tonight. :-(Holli
Awesome night of tv tonight. It's times like this I'm glad I have no social life.Smallville- Green Arrow is backSupernatural- Dean is trapped in hell and has to escapeBurn Notice- Tricia Helfer finally
Wow. Talk about ironic timing. So after I posted my rant about the internet and critics, I took a trip trip to the restroom. I was reading the latest issue of Rolling Stone, the comedy issue with all the comedians on the cover. There was a section where they were asking various famous funny people their opinions on things. Here's what Albert Brooks had to say about the internet:"I think the internet is slowly going to take down all creativity. Great art of any kind needs a gestation period. It needs a period where people keep their opinions to their fucking selves. You take any artist from the history of the world, from Michelangelo to Bozo the Clown - and if you can have widespread opinion on their first time out, you can kill the great spark that makes them who they are. That is what the internet is allowing. It's allowing millions of opinions on Day One. It's almost like, if you show me your newborn baby, and I do complete genetic testing, and I tell you in the first week of your baby's life that he's going to make $18,000 a year and work in Africa and be an explorer, and he's gonna get bitten by a tiger, and there's a good chance he's gonna have leukemia. I'm gonna take the joy out of his early child birthdays. Large amounts of opinion too early in an artist's life is like a cancer."
Now I don't agree with everything he said, But he does make some very valid points. Especially about instant analysis hurting the creative process. It makes me think of tv shows. How different would some of our favorites, or less than favorites, be if their show-runners were allowed to do what they originally intended to do? Instead of succumbing to whiney fans and know-nothing network execs. For example, would Seinfeld, a show that took some time to find it's creative genius, have survived it's first season in today's internet age and world of demanded instant satisfaction? Not likely.
Steph, I think you need to have our friend Jordan on your podcast.
But how much is fans and how much is no-nothing execs? I think it's more the case that shows aren't allowed to develop because network execs (like Wall Street types) are looking for immediate return instead of long-run profitability. The internet is full of vocal communities like the Jericho people trying to save shows more than people trying to kill them. Holli
Ally, I will have your friend Jordan on my podcast. All I will have to do is mention the words "Oklahoma" and "comedy" to set him off. My job will be done.
you don't even have to say anything, just randomly throw topics at him and he's good to go. can't wait to hear and not read some of the stuff he has to say.do it jordan!
I would like to add my voice to the clamouring masses requesting the Voice of Jordan.Steph, I feel you're going to regret that CLEAN tag in iTunes. Prepare to get bleeping.
Steph, you can have a weekly segment... called "Pop Culture Commentary From Your Friend Jordan"
Confessions of an Internet Addict present Pop Culture Punditry.PCP from the CIA.
kim, i'm thinking "Get Off My Lawn!" for the segment name.ps3-ers! life with playstation is... live!
Thx Palmer. Just dl'ed it.
is it thoroughly awesome? i'm stuck at work.
It's stupifying.Uh, pretty much just the earth screensaver thing with cities that you can pick for weather and news.
To prepare for the return of The Office.Holli
LOL! Now Jordan is truly back - I have been WAITING for a real rant! I was beginning to think Europe had mellowed your rant-full side.I have to love that you included this quote in your critique of the critics:"...this internet age we live in where every fat nerd in his mother's basement qualifies as a critic."Now - let's be fair Jordan - some are thinAlso, was checking back thru posts to make sure I hadn't missed a rant and found your link to THIS PIC of Tina Fey and John McCainWere you PRECIENT or something of the fact that she was about to play Palin in the now ubiquitous SNL sketch? - impressive! :)

In honour of "talking like you're from Cornwall day", I've got a new iPod that's 30x bigger than my last one, in storage terms, and is actually 40gb bigger than my actual computer hard drive. This means: it's PODCAST TIME AGAIN

I've just read that, even with the Volume Limiter set at maximum, the output of the European iPod Classic 5th Gen is approx 60-65% quieter than the same item purchased anywhere else in the world.I genuinely don't mean to go out of my way to complain (honest), but for crying out loud...
I'm amused by the fact that "Jan" clearly hasn't paid for the stock picture she's using. That or she didn't quite understand what to do.
Jan's selling candles online now?"Oh, good! I'll be your first customer!!!"
I wonder what Bottled Water smells like.
Chris - I am on iPod #3 (still have my original one, #2 was stolen), and I have noticed a marked decrease in maximum volume level. I certainly am in support of people not blowing their eardrums out, but podacasts and even different CDs I import, there is a considerable variance in overall volume level, and there are times on the street or in crowded areas where I have trouble hearing the audio (this is most often with podcasts). Maybe I've just gone to too many rock concerts and already blown my eardrums out listening to music on headphones since I was a pre-teen, but it is certainly frustrating. I am curious now that I type all this, whether other people (particularly people younger than myself) are having the volume issue.
Wait...I've only had one cup of coffee this morning - so I need to double check - I'm assuming Serenity by Jan is officially connected to The Office? Or is this a fan mock-up - either way - LMAO!
It's official. I'm following The Office on Twitter. They told me about it. Full name theofficenbcHolli
Maybe you're just going deaf?anyway. You can change your default language to English (Pirate). Proper lulzy.
Yo ho ho! I'm off to play with me sextant.
i get back from lunch and come back to the surprise of free ice cream! it reminded me of free pretzel day on the office.
Jealous. I was just thinking about detouring to Sonic after carpool.Holli
i'm just happy to be eating something cold. since i haven't been able to in about a week. i'd been wanting to go to sonic to go try the fried ice cream blast thing they had, but i think they're not doing that anymore.
So.... who's in the coffin?Oh hang on - don't mind me: it's really late here...
Lost is so far away, I don't even care who's in the coffin right now. Oh yeah, we found out who's in the coffin. Didn't we?Kimberley, what time Tuesday?
margaritas are good.domo kun is Target's new Halloween mascot. and it is awesome. check out your local Target and think of Wesh. and japanese satellite television providers. good ol' Domo.got a "That's What She Said" mousepad for a dollar. fantastic!
Turns out there's a reason the world hasn't ended yet. They haven't collided yet. And due to damage we get a 2-month reprieve. Damon and Carlton should really tell us the ending to LOST just in case.Holli
Yay! Halloween isn't on a school night this year! Can stay out late!
- your bacon bit of the day
That's kind of gross Andrew. So who else is watching the Emmy's tonight? Well, that and football.Holli
Will I be missing Mad Men if I watch the Emmy's? Surely ABC will do a better job than Fox did last year.
Mad Men is a repeat Steph.Holli
i watched about ten minutes of mad men the other day.those people hump all.the.time.awesome.
I've got a date in like 4 hours. I'm fucking bricking it.:(
You're a charming enough fella. Just lay off the smug ;)
take yer date to the local bridge!or maybe something interesting instead...wassup, blogspotica?heroes tonight, eh? everybody watch so we can all complain together. misery loves company. and, heck, there's always the possibility that this season will be good! maybe.
oh. and don't go to the main page of aint it cool news if you want to avoid LOST spoilers. blargh!actually, that site kind of sucks @$$ anyhow. so maybe just avoid it anyhow.
Seems like there are a number of LOST spoilers out there post-Emmys. Be careful out there.Good luck Herlihy.Skipping Heroes. Y'all let me know 3 weeks from now if I should catch up. I'm so ready for How I Met Your Mother. I hope it's legen -- wait for it -- dary.Even tho LOST didn't win last night, a former LOST actor did. It was Juliet's own hit by a bus ex who defeated Michael Emerson. And I have to say I watched all of Damages last year and he was good, tho IMHO not Emerson good.Holli
Awards shows are BS but I feel compelled to watch anyway.
My gif didn't work. How's this one look?
I saw your GIF okay, Steph. Anyway - can't make out what this one is, beyond what looks like a guy's arm
gif or animated gif?gif reminds me of jif peanut butter which prompts me to ask whether Skippy, Jif, and Peter Pan peanut butter brands are available in the various blogspotters' locales.regale me with tales of available peanut butter brands around the world./eating goober peas
Skippy hit a few places as an import here a couple of years ago. Jif I didn't encounter until a lady called Stephanie (not that one) sent me some over from the US as she felt the need to share.Since then, Skippy has become vaguely available (but, if you've ever visited here, you won't be surprised to know that we don't have anything like the same number of varieties - so no honey nut chunky for me). I've seen Jif in a few places lately as an import, and Peter Pan I've never seen.I didn't realise how truly rubbish our peanut butter was until I discovered American peanut butter.
i watched the emmys, nothing else was worth watching. it was ok. i def liked it better than last year's. ricky gervais was hilarious, trying to his emmy back from steve carrell who accepted it on his behalf last year.i also loved josh groban performing the theme songs, that was pretty funny. there were some blah moments, but overall it was ok.steph, i see the your avatar picture, but it's not animated. i don't know how we can get animated pictures on here anymore, i know back in the day it was possible.palmer, we have a good variety of peanut butter here. i'm sure there are some brands we have here that no one's ever heard of and vice versa.herlihy, this might be kinda late, but good luck on the date :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JON FROM NKY!
yeah. happy birthday, jon from NKY. eat cake. and bacon.bacon cake.mmm...and how's herlihy's date going?! hope it's going well. may the force be with you.always.
i think today is the day i tell my job that i'll no longer be working here. i got an offer from that other place... finally! i'm really thinking about what i'm gonna say. i feel like i'm having to break up with my job because there's someone else in the picture.
just tell them that a really great opportunity came up at another company and you've thought long and hard (twss) about it and you've decided to take the offer.or demand MONEY to stay. cold, hard (twss?) cash.
Or try it's not you, it's me.Holli
I was practicing my speech in my head on the way back from lunch. Which included the first thing you said. It would have to be a lot more cash for me to stay at this place. We'll see what happens, I'm waiting til the end of the day to do it that way I don't have to sit here embarrassed after I go off.
"It's not you, it's me. I don't like you."/misses farscape
lol. that's a good one. hopefully my mind won't go blank when i go to say something and that'll be the only thing i remember.
omg! i just got up to go talk to my boss and my mind went blank! so i sat back down to think of what i'm going to say. i don't know why i'm so freaking nervous right now.
i'm so stupid, i'm over here writing stuff down. i hope i don't have to bring the note with me to go talk to him. maybe i'll just make the note into a plane and fly it to him.
Brave heart, Ally.
I'm seriously considering just sending him an email even though he sits like 10 feet away from me. He's not at his desk now, so I'm thinking I'll email and make a run for it and he can find it whenever he gets back. Now I'm just a coward. LOL. alright, it's now or never.
good luck, ally!giving them two weeks notice?
what's the point of this blog if there isn't any Dharmalars or Lost Initiative?
I agree - I'm not sure why you bothered posting that either.
What's the point of anything?
Why don't farm animals just kill themselves? That'll show everyone.
Who cares about the little guy?
Sad Knut-related newsHolli
I guess the woman in the Verne Troyer sex tape does.
How dare we be a fan community of the kind that spring up naturally on the internet and have done since before the inception of the World Wide Web, back in the days of electronic bulletin boards.
What's the point of...
