Oh, and yay for TLI. Almost forgot about it!

YAY! Fun stuff.

I'm suprised that Kim and Aimee didn't condense all of the finale into one episode, oh well. that means an extra episode. awesome.

Hi guys,

I'm VERY sorry for the delay. We actally recorded this part before the finale aired. We've also recorded an episode for the 2-hour finale.

I just need to sit down edit and post it....

Thanks for all your work Kim!

Holy shit, I think I pissed myself listening to Kyle from KY's call.

I was just wondering today when I'd get me some TLI. I don't mind the delay much because I'm still catching up on finale stuff.

Kung Fu Panda review. Truly a kid's movie with talking animals and a hit you over the head moral. I really liked the opening sequence and the action sequences in the last 45 minutes of the movie, but the set up dragged a bit. The 8-year-olds thought it was awesome. I don't think my husband will regret having missed it.

Hey Kim -
Look no further for a 6th TLI shirt owner - I've got one - I just didn't send a pic of me wearing it b/c my son is a helluva lot better looking in his bib.

I'll have to take a pic with me and the Deuce wearing our TLI swag, while holding the TLI mug, with the bumper sticker....let's see, where to put it....stuck on my yapping mouth to symbolize the lack of spoilers in the offseason. :D

Finally watched those clips Jordan - sweet - LMFAO!

but I gotta say, on the spelling bee clip, was there no adult coming up to help that kid?!? WTF - do the spelling bee rules exclude ANY contact with the contestant without disqualification or something, even if they COLLAPSE on stage?
It looked like one of the other kids (a girl) stepped forward so maybe there were others off camera and he got up b4 they got to him, but it looked like no one was going to help him.

And I almost woke up the Ace and the Deuce laughing at those home shopping clips - those were like SNL sketches ('cept FUNNIER :D ). lmao.

mb said...

Me too Holli :) And frankly - I grew up thinking of it as a planet and will continue to do so.

The name plutoid was proposed by the members of the IAU Committee on Small Body Nomenclature (CSBN), accepted by the Board of Division III and by the IAU Working Group for Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN), and approved by the IAU Executive Committee at its recent meeting in Oslo, according to a statement released today.

would love to see the work parties that those cats throw :)

And btw, according to that link, they're back! lol.

Chris JC said...

They haven't changed the name of Pluto - just used its name to come up with a new designation for dwarf planets. So it is "a plutoid", but is CALLED Pluto.

According to that article, Eris has also been classed as a plutoid.

Good show TLI - bridging the hiatus with podcasts.

I promise to make good on Ghostwatch's call about his anger.

Thanks for the clarification Chris. Like MB, I'm still mad Pluto got demoted. Uranus they can change anytime they'd like, but don't mess with Mickey's dog.

that was a pretty interesting interview. and mr. andrews didnt come off as poorly as he has in a few other interviews.

interesting that he had such a problem with season 3. the beginning of season 3 was a little weak in comparison but wasnt the rest of it pretty strong?

Stephanie said...

These guys sound like me- a new Lost podcast from the Heart of Dixie. They make really good points, like they point out the parallel between freezing the battery on the freighter and the frozen donley wheel. It's like freezing the wheel controls the energy or something. And they point out the 15-year-old crackers don't age just as Alpert doesn't age. They also explain what happens with the tape rewinding.

It was good hearing Alirio on the podcast.
OMG, I hope Kyle from KY becomes TLI's Dre from LA.

scrdmnkydst said...

Palmer - Yeah, i always thought that Season 3 was pretty goddamned strong, well, the last 8 episodes were pretty much amazing.

I always thought that season 2 was pretty weak though, i don't get why Andrews thinks tht about S3 though... Maybe it's because he wasn't in S3 as much as other people. He's just bitter.

He's supposed to be English, why can't he keep his stiff upper lip! Stupid ex-pats.

Stephanie said...

Why is Naveen so effin bitter?

oh. and Jorge Garcia was pretty darn good there. i'll admit that at the beginning, i was thinking "it's hurley from LOST songing!!!" but after about a minute i stopped noticing that it was Jorge Garcia and started just enjoying it for its musical merit.

heh. he sang the word "LOST." heheheh.

also, it's fantastic that Tom Hanks' brother's name is Jimmy Hanks. totally sounds like someone made up a name for Tom Hanks brother on the spot.

I hope there;s going to be some torture in season 5, there wasn't any torture at all in season 4. I was quite unimpressed by the severe lack of it.

scrdmnkydst said...

I hope he does. Sayid hasn't done any torture since... Ben? Is that right? He threatened to torture Juliette in One Of Us... but alas, nothing came of it. I hope he does do some torture... I think this is saying a lot about me. :(

And, it's not my fault that you like Alan Partridge so much that you've allowed him to creep into your brain like some symbiotic parasite. It's your own problem. Thankfully, I don't like him that much. The only line i know of his is "knowing me, knowing you, ahaa!"

PalmerEldritch said...

why have i seen "Keeping Up Appearances" but never anything with the Alan Partridge character?

PalmerEldritch said...

not that they're related but certainly Steve Coogan's more entertaining than Keeping Up Appearances. so, why have i been subjected to Keeping Up Appearances and not Alan Partridge?

doesnt seem fair.

What's with the Naveen Andrews' attitude? He should be thanking his lucky stars that he even HAS the "Lost" job, and he doesn't even watch the show!! I think you Sayid lovers need to rethink your positions. :)

Oh, and Kim and Aimee, can we have that review of the series finale of "Friends" while you are at it? :) Kidding. I know it's a lot of work to produce those podcasts.

scrdmnkydst said...

Many actors don't watch what they're starring in, they can't bide to see themselves on screen... Just preference I guess.

Robert said...

Andrews is no great actor, and how can he possibly "know" his character if he has no clue what the show is about? Sorry, Naveen has "lost" me on this one. Hell, he actually IS as dumb as a real Republican Guard soldier. :)

Robert

mb said...

F**CK that was a f**cking f**ck of a f**cking interview w/Naveen F**cking Andrews. He is indeed a f**cking outspoken f**ck.

;)

Seriously, some actors are just less willing to do the "ra-ra" thing for whatever show they're on. Lost certainly has no lack of actors to send out into the media spotlight.
I have to imagine that his lack of Seas. 3 presence added to his distaste of it as an actor, but frankly it's a little tough to be on that show from a career perspective (especially with the strike) since being so far away geographically makes it a bit tougher to keep a career going outside of the show. Not saying it's impossible - Matt Fox being an example - but I also imagine that Fox gets bigger offers dropped in his lap being the "leading man" than Naveen.
All in all, I guess I'm just saying that I understand where he's coming from despite his slight bitchyness.

PalmerEldritch said...

heheheheh. i thought Naveen Andrews came off sounding less p.o.ed than some of his other interviews in the past.

he's definitely an outspoken guy.

scrdmnkydst said...

I think Naveen is a good actor. I certainly wouldn't peg him as the best or the worst... I just think that he's a bit outspoken really. When he was on Jonathon Ross to promote Season 4, he really didn't come across as someone who actually liked working on the show... but i guess that's just him. I daresay he's one of the people who thinks of it as just another job, rather than this exciting project.

t-dot kim said...

Just read the Naveen interview--good stuff. Hard to find sympathy for his hiatus getting f**ked up due to the strike. He makes more filming one episode of LOST than I do in a year.

Dominic M. was constantly talking about how grateful he was to be seen by American audiences and Hollywood as something other than a hobbit. He always seemed gracious to me. Andrews was NOTHING to the afore mentioned groups before "Lost" and he doesn't seem very grateful to me at all. He belongs (sorry guys, with Desmond) in the bad over-actors club.

By the way, Steve Coogan is so frickin' hilarious he NEEDS to find a larger audience over here.

Busy day on the blogspot.

Naveen definitely gives off a vibe that it's just a job for him. Doesn't bother me, as long as Sayid remains a badass. And who cares if he's not a fan? It doesn't seem to affect his performance. FWIW, I think that he's one of the stronger actors on the show, after Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn.

I like it that Jimmy Hanks is Tom Hanks' brother. I was watching Curb Your entusiasm last night and laugher for about 20 minutes when they were talking about Richard Lewis' cousin Louis Lewis.

Why SHOULD he like working on an international hit, award winning show like 'Lost' that has made his face noticeable worldwide? Please. He's coming off like a prick, and why say f**k every other word in an interview. Impressive.

Robert

PalmerEldritch said...

his earlier interviews have been less gracious.

i wonder if it's just a tonal thing where if you heard his voice then you wouldn't be so put off by what he has to say. i've never read anything about him being difficult to work with before or anything.

of course, if anyone wanted to bad mouth him, he'd just snap their neck with his feet...

Robert said...

Sayid, yes. Naveen, hardly. :)

Robert

scrdmnkydst said...

Naveen seems to be one of those people that uses sarcasm quite alot, unfortunately, that doesn't come across in text. So maybe he's just been misunderstood.

Either that or he's one of those expletives that you rarely hear... on television at least.

Anonymous said...

Just another stuffy, elitist Brit. Nothing new or shocking there.

And don't get me started on Ralph "All talk, no game" Oppoll. I haven't seen that much of a big man talking, no follow through episode since that guy who claimed he could jump across that river.

Trevor McFur said...

Regarding the stuff about the show's quality dipping in relation to it not having an end-date, he's actually kind of saying some of the same stuff that Darlton has said, except he's being more blunt about it. And if he doesn't exactly love his job, or consider it to be anything more than 'just a job', that makes him no different than about 100 million other people in the world...

elias said...

Naveen's a bit of a plonker but so are most actors and former-members of the Republican Guard.

What's wrong with being an elitist brit?

Robert said...

Does anyone else get a kick out of watching "Hell's Kitchen" because it is soooooooo bad, like I do? Reality series? Right. Question.

I have never listened to LOST Lowdown simply for the fact that I find the prospect of eight hour podcasts about one episode of TV quite terrifying. am I right to think this or is it worth a go, even as background chatter?

PalmerEldritch said...

having never listened to the LOST lowdown, i'm in agreement that an eight (or sixteen) hour podcast may be a sign of an issue.

Anonymous said...

Whereas posting on blogs is not, right?

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

heheheheheheh.

that's why i said "may" be a sign of an issue. and didn't specify what kind of issue.

8 hours or more for one podcast seems a bit excessive but, like i said, i've never given them a listen. maybe all eight hours are patently awesome.

andrew. said...

- i like the Lost Lowdown for a couple of reasons:
* their opinions on Lost closely mirror mine. They love it, but they're not beyond pointing out flaws in the writing.
* They appreciate it as a story, but they also recognize that it is a television show and all of the real-world limitations that puts on things.
* They talk about the characters as written characters, not as real people. We can all appreciate the above average acting by the LOST cast, but that doesn't mean we have to pretend that their motivations exist beyond the page.
* Their podcasts are long, but they raise very different points than most. I've probably given every LOST podcast that's come out a chance, and usually i'm bored because they are all just saying the same, obvious stuff.
* Basically, they have the sort of conversations about LOST that i'd like to have with my friends, but all of my friends are sticks-in-the-mud who don't watch television.
* I won the Season 2 DVD set from them as part of a trivia contest.

- Last BSG for a long while tonight. They best be giving up some of the mysteries.

- Watched the new Futurama movie last night. It felt like a really long version of a usual episode. Nothing flashy & no big developments, but it did feel pretty consistent with the show when it was on.

-Kablamo?

scrdmnkydst said...

The new Futurama film is available? Awesome.

Also. 8 hour Lost podcasts? That seems like overkill. I sometimes get bored with the ones that are over 90 minutes long...

Robert said...

How do they find the time to podcast, then do all the post production stuff for an 8+ hour show? Don't these people have jobs or school or something? I kid Kim and Aimee a lot for not producing shows quickly enough, but I know that they have LIVES and jobs and better things to do.

Trevor McFur said...

Didn't they do a 12-hour podcast after last season't finale too? I listened to them a bit at the start, but quit after a couple of weeks, in part because I thought that their audio quality at the time was pretty bad ... I'd assume that's fixed by now. I'm with the 90 minute limit, although I have to admit that even 60 is pushing it for me.

Big BSG tonight!!!!! I've read that they're filming the series finale now ... what are the chances that's gonna be unspoiled?

Reviews for The Happening are not good... I'm not sure about the Hulk, the action looks good, but I've heard that they've consciously gone out of their way to dumb it down compared to the Ang Lee version.

Trevor McFur said...

I loved those commercials Holli. And I was devastated when I learned that there really wasn't a Frank Bartles or Ed James.

Trevor McFur said...

Going for the triple post ... that B&J commercial reminded me of something ... do you think that Bruce Willis puts this on his resume?

memphish said...

In return for at least attempting to not spoil me on BSG, I bring you this news from the Chicago Tribune:

According to well-informed sources, it’s almost certain that at least one “Battlestar Galactica” TV movie will be made this year.

Here’s even better news: Up to two hours may be added to “Battlestar’s” final run of episodes.

You heard that right: The last leg of the show’s final season could expand to 12 hours, instead of the originally planned 10 hours.

Holli

trevor, i'll see your Seagram's commercial and raise you one crap ton of japanese Bruce Willis commercials.

Jordan said...

Damn stupid trip. Keeping me from playing Metal Gear 4. Grrrrr. Nobody spoil me for the next 2+ months!

Good timing for me for the last BSG for a while. I was thinking that I was going to have to catch up when I got back. I just watched last week's ep yesterday. The preview for this ep sure looked like some developments are going to happen.

I want to see The Hulk before I go, but I don't know if I'll have the time. My stupid jack ass Jeep is broken down and it makes getting things taken care of a royal pain in the arse. Let alone goofing off and seeing movies. That all said, watch me go see it tomorrow.

PalmerEldritch said...

when do you leave, jordan?

and when will you hulk out while backpacking across europe righting wrongs and saving arcades and roller rinks like bill bixby?

Trevor McFur said...

I think I just found a new avatar.

I don't know if I'm crazy about them adding more episodes to next season ... I kind of think that most of this season has really dragged, and if they're already filming the series finale, then any additional hours that they add right now will just be extraneous to what they've already filmed. A between-season movie or two would be nice though...

Jordan said...

I leave on Wednesday. I have a bunch to do between now and then. The terrible thing though is I know I'll leave it to the last minute possible.

Trevor McFur said...

If you're like me, your packing, etc, will be much more efficient if you wait until the last minute.

Jordan, I'll probably be just getting started with MGS4 when you get back ... I'm still lollygagging and haven't finished the GTA story, and then I want to go and get 100%. And when I finish that, I want to go back and complete Drake's Fortune before starting on something new.

t-dot kim said...

I'm not from Port Dover, I just know they celebrate it over there :P

I'm all about seeing The Hulk. I'm seeing on Monday after work (trying to avoid the crowds). I think I was one of 3 ppl that actually liked The Hulk they made a few years back.

Chris JC said...

I'm another of those three, Kim. I thought Ang Lee's Hulk was superb. Was vaguely interested in the new one, but I'll wait for a home version (wherein they will reinstate some 70 minutes of footage that has been trimmed for the theatrical release).

For me, it's all about The Happening. It's had bad reviews, but it's also an M. Night Shyamalan film made since The Sixth Sense so bad reviews are par for the course.

Not going today though. I missed my opportunity to go at the "cheap" time (equivalent $14.51 US), and am currently too tired to go at the normal time ($18.40 US).

t-dot kim said...

...and I thought $11 (Cdn) for a movie was too much here!

Trevor McFur said...

Hey, I'm the third! What an amazing coincidence that all 3 of us are on the blogspot!

I really didn't think it was a bad film at all. Marvel's all but disowned it ... but jeez, you think if you hire Ang Lee to do a Hulk movie, that it might turn out to be a little thoughtful? And I really liked the split-screen, comic book-style camerawork that Lee used. I have a feeling that this new Hulk, which I admit looks pretty cool, is gonna be really dumb reactionary to the Lee film.

Chris JC said...

Kim - that's just over five pounds. If you find a cinema in London* showing new films you want to see for that kind of price, you don't bother going in as you're clearly going to wake up soon.

(excluding London, Ontario)

Ah... That's one of the good things about living up north... £6 for films, after 5pm. £4 for students at any time.

Not that i pay to go to the Cinema of course... I used to work in the one i go to and all my old colleagues let me in for free... ah. good times.

I miss working in a cinema. :(

I don't remember the cinema in Donny being that cheap when I was up there, but then it was in the evening.

ang lee's hulk was pretty good besides the Hulk-Dogs up until the end where it just really poorly ripped off The Crow. you hype up a bad guy who can turn into metal, rocks, whatever he wants and put him up against a regenerating powerhouse character and you have the bad guy turn into a big cloud and avoid a fight? uh... what? it's a hulk movie for goodness sake.

really liked the visuals though. cool editing. great landscapes.

that said, i'm really looking forward to The Incredible Hulk. bixby's Hulk tv show was fantasti-great. especially the episode where he Hulks out after being put on hold.

good stuff.

I piced up MSG 4 last night. I have only played it for about an hour so I don't I can spoil much for anyone.

The one thing about videogames that is annoying to me is when a company requires you to set up another profile with them in order to play online. I know Konami and EA both do that, and it kind of make me not want to play online. You'd think that's what your PSN ID/ XBox gamertag is for. Just my little rant.

I just posted on the SPLOG a list of things TPTB have said was "coming" on Lost at some point but haven't yet (I put in on the SPLOG b/c I'm not sure if non-forward-lookers have heard all these things previously).

My SPLOG post is a summary - if you want a link to the full list (@Dark UFO) GO HERE (it's a separate page - so there are no other spoilers on the page, although I suppose the COMMENTS might say something - so steer clear of them at the bottom.

back from The Incredible Hulk and it thoroughly kicked ass.

no Ang Lee psycho babble or Hulky daddy issues. lots of old skool TV Bill Bixby on the run action and lots of smashing. also lots of romance for the ladies.

that movie rocked my proverbial socks off.

also, lots of well done Hulk/Marvel cameos.

Captain America cameo cut from Hulk movie

I wonder who played him in that scene? Would that mean that they have somebody in mind to play him in the Captain America movie that is scheduled to come out in a couple years?

I believe that Thor is supposed to cameo in the Captain America film as they're released like 6 weeks apart...

This is in 2010, so things could change.

That Captain America cameo sounds like more of an urban legend than truth. But from what I've heard, the Super Soldier serum plays a big role in the Hulk film.

I'm with you on the Thor movie Jordan. It just sounds like too ridiculous a concept for a film (even for a comic book film). I've also heard rumors of an Ant-Man movie, which also seems a bit too ridiculous to work.

Alirio, I thought the exact same thing about the BSG finale. I'm trying to keep my BSG thoughts confined to the Scott and Steve forum, though, for the benefit of those who are still working their way through the series.

Can I also mention that I'm not totally enjoying the way Lost is going! I love sci-fi...I just feel like it has jumped into that genre a little too much for my liking. Obviously still my favorite show by a country mile though...

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, yer kid is officially awesome.

thor is supposed to be a fantasy movie (i guess in Asgard). and captain america at least partially a WW2 flick.

ant man is supposed to be an edgar wright film, right? its been "in the works" for years now. i sort of doubt it will ever come to fruition.

scrdmnkydst said...

I don't think that Season 5 will be too sci fi, i think that it's just going to be all about Jack and Ben rounding up the people to go back to the island and the pitfalls that surround that...

I kinda of like the sci fi element, ever since the introduction of smokey in the pilot, there's been something off... it's just got to this point in time where things are becoming clearer in that way, so it seems more sci fi now than it did.

But seriously, no one thought anything sci fi was going on when they saw smokey for the first time and it tried to drag Locke down a big hole..?!

scrdmnkydst said...

Captain America got killed in the comics though, right? so if it is Matthew "i play my bongos nude" McConaughey, then he might get killed on screen...? Right? hopefully? *finger crossed*

Trevor McFur said...

Captain America was killed off in the comice just like a year ago (and I'm sure that he'll come back at some point). But there's like 70 years of Captain America history to draw from, so they probably won't get killed off in the movies until the 6th or 7th sequel...

But, if they're doing Captain America followed by The Avengers, maybe he'll get frozen in ice between the two movies. Either way, I really can't see Matthew McConaughy playing Steve Rogers ... he's not exactly the first person I'd think of when I think 'All-American'.

Jordan said...

The McConaughy rumors were refuted by the head at Marvel. That's a good thing.

If the film is set during WWII, I bet it ends with him frozen in ice like Trevor said. That's what happened in the comics, right?

I can see Thor being a fantasy film in the vein of all these Narnia movies and what not. But how will he be transitioned into the Avengers stuff without it being weird?

Jimmy, I am now with you in rooting for Holland. I watched their game last week at the pub with a packed house of Dutch people. It was a lot of fun. Plus I like seeing Italy and France struggle. Hehehe.

PalmerEldritch said...

Captain America got sniped and died. but its OK cuz Bucky has taken over. supposedly, the comic is pretty cool right now.

i hope that they do Ultimate Captain America and Ultimate Thor but if the Thor movie is taking place in Asgard then i'm guessing that's not the case.

Ultimate Captain America is much more of a bad ass. check out The Ultimates sometime if comic books are your thing.

i think it's likely that the Captain America movie will have Captain America get frozen after saving England from German nukes or some such in WW2 and then wake up after being saved by SHIELD and Nick Fury at the end. i hope that they dont have him woken up half way through and then have to fight the Red Skull in modern times or something.

also, cast an unknown or at least a little known.

Trevor McFur said...

Yeah, that's what I mean about Thor ... if it's a fantasy, then I don't know how it would blend with the other definitely sci-fi superhero films.

If they follow strict comics continuity, then Cap should get frozen at the end of his movie, and The Avengers should form without Cap and then unfreeze him at some point during the film. I've never read the Ultimates stuff, so I have no idea what the continuity is there, although I know that the films are using elements of both.

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, jordan, Captain America is a scrawny kid who wants to join the Army in WWII. he's a big loser or something so they decided to put him through the Super Soldier program. go see Hulk for a little background on that. also, go see Hulk cuz it's friggin' cool.

anyhow, Steve Rogers goes from scrawny kid to hunky superhero thanks to a Super Soldier Serum and some Vita-Rays or some such. in regular Marvel, he gets "peak human" or "Olympic level" strength and speed. in the Ultimates (an alternate Marvel Universe where Samuel L. Jackson is Nick Fury and things are re-interpreted to be more cinematic), he gets super strength.

anyhow, they give him a shield made out of this bad ass metal that doesn't break. he throws it around and bounces it around the room like he's Xena or something. he kicks Nazi ass for a few years and then ends up being explodificated in the North Atlantic. conveniently, he gets freezified instead of dying and gets de-thawed in modern times. he resumes crime fighting and whatnot.

The Ultimates does a pretty good job showing how out of his element he is now and how screwed up it'd be to wake up half a century later.

hopefully, that gets explored in the Avengers movie. also, hopefully his uniform is more like the Ultimates version. same goes for Thor's.

and hopefully Cap can break out this little jingoistic gem if he's asked to surrender.

that comic was written by a Scotsman. can't blame an American for it. :D

mb said...

"Oh no! We don't need. 'Let's save the world. Alright, alright, alright.'"

L...M...F...A...O!!! - that's one for the books :D Stupendous quote!

Also, I know I've made my opinion clear on this before, but Herlihys comment about Season 5 probably not being too sci-fi made me realize that this is NOT a sci-fi show. The majority of time (and what drives the show bt FAR) is the characters and their motivations. I do honestly sympathize with people (like my cousin who is in the jump-the-shark camp) for whom the island move just took them out of the story too much (correct me though - that's just my interpretation of the reaction), but looking ahead to Season 5, how can it NOT be MAINLY about Jack trying to get the O6 back together despite the myriad of reasons why they wouldn't want to. I see some serious character drama coming. Good stuff :)

Now.....time to watch "Midnight"

see some of you on the boards either tonight or tomorrow :)

For anyone gagging for the chance to see Matthew McConaughey die (and kill) on screen, might I recommend 1995's Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation*, in which he is taken out by a low flying plane.

RE: MB. That's my thoughts exactly. I daresay that we might get some action from the Island. But I do honestly think that the main focus will be Jack's struggle trying to convince everyone back to the Island. Hopefully this will cause some clashes with Sun as she's gone to the dark side. (is it ok that i used some Star Wars terminology even though i've never seen one of the films and just know it as a cultural reference?)

I also think that Alan "i'm on my way to being in every single cult show ever" Dale will feature more, due to the whole Widmore/Ben conflict. I get the feeling, mainly from Kim's reaction on TLI, that some people won't like this at all... but i think it will be very intriguing.

Bugger. I just got myself all excited for season 5. I need a cold shower.

happy father's day, fathers.

so, should Jack get Christian a Father's Day card? or do you not get a card for your dad if he's an Island induced hallucination? hmm...

andrew. said...

- Happily Fathers Day fathers!

- Watched The Incredible Hulk last night. I liked it. I've never had much interest in the Hulk as a character. I think he's used much better in The Ultimates comics, where he's basically a villain. So i felt like this was the kind of movie he deserved. The bill-bixby-ish stuff is cool and then you get a couple of slugfests. It's been a while since i saw the Ang Lee film, but I'm remembering the CGI for the hulk being better. It was fine in this movie, but felt a little more plastic.

- BSG was definitely better. I still think they have some serious pacing issues, but stuff definitely happened.

andrew, right on about Ultimate Hulk. i really like The Ultimates (I and II, anyhow). i really enjoyed The Incredible Hulk. for some reason, i enjoyed the Bruce/Betty "look sad at each other" stuff a lot. maybe i'm an old softy?

i thought that nuHulk was a bit more old skool Conan looking. the ol' Frank Frazetta pictures of Conan. nuHulk looked like a big, ugly, muscly beast as opposed to the staypuft marshmallow Hulk from five years ago.

scrdmnkydst said...

Has anyone seen the Fringe pilot? I watched it a couple of hours ago. I was blown away. It was very good. The beginning was very chilling, as was the ending. I can't wait for the series to start properly.

The only things that bugged me was the fact that it could go very clichéd. Although, the casting of Joshua Jackson was very spot on. The only other thing that bothered me was the use of "normalcy".

Now, being an English student, i'm kind of biased towards this kind of thing. But... "normalcy" doesn't even make sense. It's harder to say than it's synonym, "normality". And you don't sound like such a bloody tard when you say "normality".

Another thing to mention is that there was a "see ya dudes, i'm off to the hatch". It was quite jarring, as was a mention of "108", but i guess that an be rectified as this was just a prescreen pilot for Monte Carlo.

This is something that i'm definitely going to take interest in and not just because of who it's creator is. Roll on Dollhouse.

Trevor McFur said...

Elias, I just watched Lust, Caution, so I'll be interested in how you like it. Outside of the sex, I found it to be very dull. And the sex scenes encompass about 10 minutes total of a 2 1/2 hour movie.

Jordan said...

Saw Hulk today. Liked it a lot. Not quite Iron Man, but it was definitely entertaining. This is what I want for a Hulk movie, not that Ang Lee nonsense. I liked the fact that he stayed the same size, unlike how he grew bigger the angrier he got in the last one. I can somewhat understand what Andrew was saying about the cgi looking a bit shiny. But it wasn't bad to me. And I liked the look of this Hulk a lot better than the last one. Looking at the pics Palmer posted, the last one had way too fat a face. I liked how how it conveyed the after affects it was having on Bruce Banner. How he would have flash backs of the violence and being shot at. Cuz regardless of whether you are the hulk or not, that's gotta be some tramatic shit. Pretty cool tie in to Captain America with the old super soldier serum. And I noticed Nick Fury's name on a document in the opening montage. Good stuff overall. That last fight scene was pretty bad ass.

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, i think the CGI was better this time. sure, he was rubbery looking but he's a gigantic green gamma monster.

i liked the shade of green, the face, and the craggy muscliness of nuHulk better.

lots of Stark Industry and SHIELD references too. good stuff.

Took Hubby and Kiddo to see Indy 4 yesterday. I went in with extremely low expectations given all I'd heard about it, and ended up enjoying it. Kiddo really liked it. The scene in the quicksand was my favorite.

I was watching SNL The Best of Mike Myers last night. It was pretty flat as most SNL things these days, but in the last Wayne's World skit they showed, Wayne did a TWSS. I hadn't realized or remembered that TWSS went back to the time of Wayne's World or possibly earlier.

Stephanie said...

I seem to remember hearing TWSS the first time on Wayne's World now that you mention it.

Morgan saw Kung Fu Panda and loved it. I think people forget children and adults don't have the same taste in movies. One movie(ie Transformers) isn't going to be the same to every age group. Hollywood is continually trying to sell their movies to everyone. This drives me nuts. Edgy for the teens but mild enough for the youngsters. Ugh!! Makes me want to pull my hair out!!! Anyway, that has nothing to do with Kung Fu Panda. It was great fun for everyone. That is all.

andrew. said...

- looking at the pictures Palmer posted, I do think i prefer puffy Hulk. That's just the way massively muscly dudes look, just check out those strong man competitions or Ahnuld in Conan.
