finally magic box-ing some of the new TV shows and the Chinese fella who comes to the office has come up with some goodies - The Last Legion, 3:10 to Yuma and Run, Fat Boy, Run.

Elias, the Last Legion is a cute story but is visually flat. Saw part one of 3:10 to Yuma but some idiot tagged part two with the actual name of the movie. It got took down. Run, Fat Boy Run- who would leave Thandie Newton at the alter?

ok. Earl was fucking awesome.

did anyone else recognize Catalina's "love interest?"

Stephanie said...

According to this, Lost returns Wednesday, Febuary 7th. My desktop countdown clock says that is 111 days from now.
And The Office was the most unfunniest ever. They made up for it with Jim's confession of being in love with Italian food.

PalmerEldritch said...

hmmm... we enjoyed the office. good stuff. can't get into it too much for the sake of our favorite west coasters but i can remember cracking up more than a few times.

Stephanie said...

I forgot something. Dwight Schrute would not conduct private business on Dunder Mifflin time. Jim would not visit Dwight's home/bedand breakfast unless he thought it was his only chance of getting any. That doesn't even sound like Jim. Jim would never visit Dwight's home. The Office has lost it. Season two was the best. Thank goodness Scrubs comes back next week and we can go back to half hour shows.

PalmerEldritch said...

admittedly, we did spend the whole time going "WHY would they visit?" but we enjoyed it.

them visiting was no weirder than them convincing dwight that the dunder mifflin website had attained sentience and was communicating with him.

although, i do prefer when the office is more on the plausible side.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

I think it might only be Elias and myself watching The Peter Serafinowicz Show, but hopefully some kind soul will put last night's extended Darth Vader love triangle sketches on YouTube (which the BBC will then get removed), as they were awesome.

"I've just realised, if we got married, you'd be Ada Vader!"

And for some reason each time he said "WHAT!?" I almost fell out of my chair.

Anonymous said...

I actually though the office was pretty plausible. Dwight is down on his luck since Angela left him. He's crying and weeping. The farm is his livelihood, maybe he needed to rent rooms because he was low on money. And of course he would take the calls from work. What else would he do, have Moes take them?!

And Pam and Jim went to the b&b because they felt bad for Dwight. Plus, it had good reviews on TripAdvisor. Check it out!

PalmerEldritch said...

holy crap, jada. those first few comments are great. first one is from "SprinklesMom." heheheheh.

catalina's flip flop factory owner love interest is none other than PEDRO EL ESCAMOSO. man, oh man. that's an awesome mullet he used to have.

is it bad that my manager's manager walked in while i was watching that video?

New Ask this member a question. GarethKeenan, Arlington Oct 16, 2007

My experience with this property took place in:
October, 2007
Would you trust your well-being to a person who blatantly violates codes and regulations that ensure the safety of the machinery that feeds his lifeblood?...I think not. A mis-attached VIN plate could easily lead to a child being mauled in the gearing.

I don't recall seeing this farmer with a wife around either. I have contacted the Pennsylvania agricultural board and requested that they check on the well-being of this establishment's livestock.

I do appreciate that the owner is a senpai in Goju-Ryu karate and was able to soak in the vast amount of knowledge about booey knife handling that I shared with him.

Proceed with caution."

whoever wrote up those Schrute Farms reviews is the man. Gareth F'n Keenan. brilliant.

memphish said...

Do they have iPhones in Europe? I didn't even think Canada had them yet. As an owner, smudges can be a problem, but not one I'd solve with a finger condom.

Just watching Earl and 30 Rock now. I liked that The Office was a little more toned down and that Michael's storyline was more plausible than the first 3. I didn't think there were as many LOL moments, but I enjoyed it. Mostly I enjoyed getting to see the whole thing in HD on my own TV for the 1st time this season, though I did miss the end b/c of tornados. Was it worth tracking down?

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

i think the end was just Jan finally being appreciative of Michael and promising to help him combat his debt. and then he said "don't sell the implants."

and they had a little outro with her complaining about her implants and him saying "they're cute."

memphish said...

Well I might run it down since I've got to find the end of Earl too. I should have asked animated Joy to have a little talk with the boss about interrupting the Thursday night comedy line-up with those pesky storms.

I liked this episode of The Office better than the last 3. Dwight's cousin is hilarious! He doesn't even have to do anything, he just looks funny! When Pam heard a noise and saw him outside, I couldn't stop laughing. And what's up with Kelly and Darryl? I didn't watch last week, so maybe I missed it when they officially "met". Ryan is awesome, he's a deuche, but he's awesome. LOL.

Stephanie said...

Ally, it was just a quick little scene with Kelly and Darryll.

A quick update on the sales contest: Dwight is winning handsomely. Wait, make that Dwight is a very close second. It’s a seesaw battle, which makes for a lot of tension. When Darryl hand-delivers 500 sheets of paper to Kelly, it pushes Dwight over the edge and he berates her for not buying from him. This allows Darryl to intervene and score points with Kelly — and possibly set up yet another office romance later on. Could Kelly and Darryl be the next Jim and Pam? Um, probably not. But you have to think they’d be a fun couple anyway.

Trevor McFur said...

Seriously, Holli? Send me some recipe links. I don't have to cook tonight because I get to do some thing better- work. I will have to find a way to make sure I get to see FNL. I will be recording it so if people acually stop breathing between the hours of 8 and 9 pm central time I won't miss any of it. I have to set out now for my 45 minute commute. But will stop off at our *new* Target, pick up a I Heart Jim Halpert mug for a buck and a cup of Starbuck's joe. I'm no longer driving the cammo truck. Hubby got tired of driving the gas-guzzler so I get it now. Thank goodness. I have a confession to make. I just got back from a seminar for parents on the topic of youth culture and drugs. It was brought to my attention that I may be a huffer. I know. You're all shocked. I had no idea because I like the aroma of gasoline that I had a problem.

PalmerEldritch said...

you two can cook that stuff? i'm totally inviting you to the next Blogspot Pot Luck Dinner.

memphish said...

The trout, salsa and salad are all really easy. I'm not the world's best baker, so the pie is stretching, but Pushing Daisies has me in a pie mood. The other good thing about this menu is most can be prepared ahead and the rest cooks quickly so if hubby gets delayed by some pesky person needing an organ removed, kiddo and I can eat when we want to and hubby can sear his trout on his own time.

Steph, I'll stick some recipes on the boards this weekend.

Now I have to go to 3 stores to get all the things I need to make dinner. I could make it just 2, but I'm actually saving my money, if possibly killing the plane to go to the extra store.

If you are a fan of South Park and haven't seen this week's episode. I highly suggest you do. It was great. Part I of a 3 part epic.

Here's a brief snippet of dialog:

---------------------------------

Cartman to judge: I believe a serious blow to democracy has been dealt. A travesty has occurred, and I want justice. Kyle Broflosky did willingly and knowlingly sign a contract and yet as to date he has made no effort nor does he show any intention of ever sucking my balls. I have given him ample time to fulfill his obligation, and he has thus refused. I stand before you with dry balls, your honor. I have provided witnesses, collected testimonial and still my balls remain dry. I want what I am entitled to.

Judge to Kyle: Mr. Broflosky, did you agree to orally imbibe Mr. Cartman's scrotum and testicles?

Kyle: (quizzically) I...?

Judge to Kyle: Is this not your signature on the contract?

Kyle: uh...uh...but...come on, come on, really, aren't there more important things going on right now?

Judge to Kyle: From what I been presented and the evidence put forth the court has no choice but to order you to place Mr. Cartman's pubical sack in your mouth and draw upon it succulently for no less than 30 seconds.

Cartman: Yessss

Judge to Kyle: You have 24 hours to suck aforementioned balls, if after that time you have still refused, the court will be forced to arrest you for contempt.

Cartman: Thank you, your honor. This isn't a victory for me, this is a victory for the justice system, and my balls.

I liked The Office last night. It wasn't gut-bustingly out of control, but it was good. And I didn't find it to drag as much as the other hour long ep's. Jim and Pam didn't annoy me with their cutesyness this week. I think it was because they were focusing on Dwight and not being all about themselves. I'm not sure if it was just me, but Pam seemed hotter than she had in the first couple episodes this season. Maybe she put on a few extra lbs at the beginning of the season due to breaking her back? Man, is Ryan a douche or what? Is it a rule that he has to always wear all black? Guess it makes him evil. I did however like him noticing Kelly and Darrell. Haha. How touching was the Jim and Dwight moment in the hallway? And when Dwight went to embrace Jim, but Jim had left? I almost cried. lol. And a 45 min commute for Dwight? That's nothing. I did that for 2 years for a job I hated. And if I hit had traffic, it doubled. At least Dwight likes his job. How funny was Andy doing the splits at Pam's desk? And the who/whom debate. Classic.

Jordan said...

Some of my favorite lines from last night's ep:

Michael: "Up comes the toolbar. That's what she said."

Kelly: "Ryan used me as an object."

Andy: "I have moonwalked past accounting like 10 times."

Michael: "I don't talk to my girlfriend about money. It's rude and unsexual."

- Pushing Daisies - i've finally watched the 1st 2 episodes. i really enjoyed it. i was immediately struck with comparisons to Amelie. i agree with everyone that the show feels too leftfield to catch on with a mainstream audience but i hope it sticks around. The woman who plays Chuck reminds me of Zooey Deschanel a lot. I'm glad the brother from Wonderfalls is getting the spotlight, he was one of the better parts of that series, even though he kind of reminds me of the guy from "Ed" (which i've never seen but he plays JD's brother on "Scrubs"). that was sort of an ADD paragraph.

-Finished season 5 of The Shield. That was a really good season. Forest Whitaker was awesome. Now i have to wait until December for the season 6 DVDs to get released.

-Season 4 of The Wire comes back in January and the season focus on the media sounds awesome.

-i came across a "Lost" boardgame at my favorite drugstore/megalomart. it was on sale for $4. i think i was scared off by the fact that it was 75%off and that there were games for "Grey's Anatomy" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" in the series. Anybody seen/played it?

Andrew, I saw that LOST game on deep discount at Walgreens the other day. I remember when it came out it was described as a game where each time you play you set the board up differently. You have cards that give you player weaknesses and strengths and they progress based on that and the obstacles they encounter. I'm not a huge fan of that sort of game as my newly-into Pokemon son can tell you. He spouts stuff at me about powers, weaknesses, damages, blah, blah, blah. I have no idea what he's talking about and no desire to find out.

memphish said...

Steph, I know this is obvious, but you did reboot? Yesterday I couldn't get iTunes to load and a simple reboot fixed the problem. Is it correct that it won't play on your computer, not just your iPod? Last resort is uninstalling and redownloading iTunes. It should not result in the losing any of your music, but it will be a lengthy pain in the ass. If it's an iPod problem, restoring factory settings and re-synching is also a pain in the ass process, but usually works as well.

Holli

Stephanie said...

Yes, I rebooted. I also cleaned my computer of any programs not in use such as Baby Cake's games. I scanned for viruses. That doesn't look like the correct plural of the word virus. I tried repairing iTunes. I checked for updates like my computer suggested. Uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling should not result in losing any music. That doesn't sound too good. I'll do more research before I try that. But thanks anyway, Holli. Can I start blaming Vista yet?

PalmerEldritch said...

steph, i think holli's right about itunes. uninstall it and reinstall it. or there's probably a system restore feature in Vista. you could restore to a day or so before the current issue started up.

and... posh spice of yesteryear is much better looking than the posh spice of now. doing a quick google search, even her old pictures don't look all that great.

but at least 10 years ago she wasn't a bag of antlers. with fake boobs. and leathery skin. and really bad dyed hair. poor girl is a mess now. eat something, damnit!

did see Scary Spice on dancing with the stars the other night and she looked pretty good. sounds a lot like claudia black. strange.

oh! just watched Drew Carey on TPIR. not bad.

Stephanie said...

Syncing the iPod doesn't seem to be the problem. It freezes when downloading the podcasts. Everything else seems to work fine.

PalmerEldritch said...

i've never used the system restore in vista but if you search for System Restore from the start menu... you can prolly find it. :)

you could also try searching for help at http://www.apple.com/support/

Trevor McFur said...

I would 3rd the motion of uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, then try Apple Support. Is it all podcasts, or just CtM?

Stephanie said...

Google is the most amazing thing. I searched "troubleshooting iTunes freeze download podcast". Google gave me the exact answer I needed. I couldn't tell you what I did but my music is still there but ...
I have to resubscribe to 60+ podcasts. Which is good and bad. I believe I've had to do this a time or two before. I ended up with new podcasts and without shows I had previously subscribed. So, thanks guys for the support. I wonder if this was the Apple gods trying to tell me I listen to too many podcasts.

memphish said...

Glad that worked Steph. The restoring thing in Vista was a good idea too. I've done that some in XP and it's generally worked with good results and little in the way of me having to re-invent the wheel. Sorry about having to figure out what podcasts to resubscribe to. Wonder if anyone here has any info. on new podcasts? Anyone? Aimee in Little Rock? Bueller? Bueller?

As you may have realised by now, the major difference between the US and UK versions of the LOST season 3 box is that the RRPs have the same numbers, but different signs:

$59.99
£59.99

Meaning that (at current prices), the UK set retails for the equivalent of $123.

Nobody sensible in either territory will pay that actual RRP, but the lower prices (suc as Amazon) reveal an even greater disparity between the two.

Elias - I only got the first two seasons in PAL recently (for the bargain price of £35 - over $70 each), are you saying that there is stuff missing?

I thought I'd whinged so often about price that it would be so deeply deeply obvious (I may, have course, missed some mild sarcasm).

Price watchers will also note that the standard UK set is also $20-30 more than the RRP of the US Blu-Ray set.

I'm so very, very tedious. If I'm funding the NHS, I guess I can't complain too much...

memphish said...
