Good - I can read this thread which has no World Series spoilers.
Go Lars!
The World Series was spoiled by the 2nd round of the playoffs.
GW is going to have to repost his MB Congrats again.
Holli
Sorry if you can't get You Tube at work. Be sure to click here when you get home. It's almost 7 minutes long, but it's worth it.
Holli
holli, i can access youtube at work but from the title, i'll wait til tonight.
Palmer, make it priority number one.
Has anyone read about this yet?

Nothing good.
Looks like Sun will have to raise that baby alone. That is, if she survives the pregnancy.
the Hawaii police really don't like those guys.
must be Heroes fans.

New 'Lars has a classic Dre rant. Good to hear from you Ralph and Ben and Ryan. I love Charade Ben. Good choice. Ralph, I've never even heard of CQ. I'll consider sticking it in my NFQ.
Holli
Congratulations MB.
Here, have a trailer for 24 season 7.
KURTOOD SMITH!
I've always like DDK, even before Lost ... it's kinda a bummer to read that. Hope he doesn't get shot by Michael.
Or banged into a tree by the smoke monster.
Holli
Ryan hasn't posted the trailer to CQ yet, but it is available over at YouTube
HERE. I love Angela Lindvall so much...yikes. i bet you if i even had some sort of chance and i could get one of stevi's hollywood crushes to marry her, i would be allowed to marry Angela Lindvall!
I just realized I'm wearing my hair today much like Josh Holloway's hair in the previous post. But I have some escaping bangs and my hair is thicker. And blonder.
Holli
holli, are you wearing your future-techno-laserproof armor?
Holli, there's a real easy comment about your shoulders in there, but I'll refrain.
No, that would get wet and cause chafing in the never-ending rain that we have going on here in Memphis this week.
Holli
I don't have shoulders either Trevor. If I believed in reincarnation, I'd put in my order to come back as a linebacker where I'd get shoulders and shoulder pads.
Holli
Holli, it's a great movie. I can't blame you for loving it.
hmmm...
Sawyer has no shoulders. Kate has mega-shoulders that you could crack walnuts in the dimples of. Is Ben Linus creating a race of Moderately Shouldered Superhumans through Selective Breeding?
If you give me search terms for YouTube, I can find it on my iPhone, bitches.
Sorry; anytime I use the word iPhone, I have to end the sentence with "bitches", bitches.
Thanks for all the congratulatory attention regarding my sex life on the previous thread. He's very nice, but he's knows his place. I gave up everything for a man before, and I don't intend to let that happen again. That is in response to whoever asked me if having a gentleman friend meant I was staying in Little Rock.
why did that not post my profile thing?
Hearing Michael McDonald makes me think of this.
I hope to have Bottle Rocket in my possession by the weekend and will see Darjeeling on Monday. Then I'll be prepared to rank Anderson's films. Sounds like I need to call the Lar's line with my results. So far I got
1 Tenebaums
2 Rushmore
3 Life Aquatic
Aimee, I hear ya sister.
Aimee, Search for "India condom turbanhead" and then bookmark it.

Holli, did it instantly got from summer to winter there? I'm freezing and can't get warm. One good point- don't have to shave legs as frequently.
Yeah Steph. I'm sure the leaves are all going to go from green to brown and fall in one swoop as well. I'm sick, sick, sick of this rain. I did not sign up for living in Seattle or London without the amenities of Seattle or London.

- i really enjoyed CQ. a lot of the film snobs i know hate it but i can't figure out why. i've been waiting for Roman to make another movie.
- a 7 minute condom commercial?!? this is why, no matter how hard i try, i only find bollywood films entertaining as backdrops to indian food buffets.
-i'm desperately trying to find a birthday present for my dad. his hobbies are the Red Sox, skiing, the stock market, and paroting Fox News. any suggestions?
Andrew.
-thanks Stephanie. i can't do that to myself though. =)
i came really close to buying the Stephen Colbert book for him. I don't think he'll be amused. I might still.
-time wasters: rare Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes) art. clicky
holy god, that video is awesome.
thanks, ladies, for making sure that i watched that video.
-1/2 hour Office kicked ass.
-Jerry Seinfeld is blowing any good will he had on this crappy Bee movie and those godawful shorts.
-the Sci-Fi Network has decided that fucking over the fans of its only hit show is the best business model. Battlestar Gal...ugh
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the condom video!!!
I saw Bernard (actor who plays Bernard) in an ER ad. I guess he's moving up in the world from DDS to MD.
I loved 30 Rock tonight. That Jack Donaghy is television gold.
Holli
I have the condom song stuck in my head. Thanks guys. It only took me about a week to get "I don't want to live on the moon" out of my head. lol.
Good stuff from The Office tonight. "Break me off a piece of that..."
30 Rock's promo of Alec Baldwin going nuts would have turned me off to the show. But seeing it in context, he was brilliant!
I'm really missing BSG right now. April? Damn. And I'm not really interested in flashbacks of ground we have already covered. And Adm Cain- I hated. I wish now I had bought the DVDs instead of watching on iTunes, of which I've long ago deleted.
no BSG until April?
if those fuckers play it on April 1st and then say "no, not really. you have to wait til june" then i will go INSANE.

The internet says Darjeeling isn't playing in B'ham. I hope I don't have to make a road trip out of seeing it. I think I need to open a movie theater that shows good movies. That might be the only way to get good films here.
Steph, That sucks. But not totally surprising. Seeing as how it's only playing in 3 theaters in the entire Seattle area. And I'd consider this area to be right up that type of film's alley. I guess it's your punishment for having good taste in a land of...uh...where it's not as appreciated.
Am I the only one who thinks that Alec Baldwin's impressions were dubbed? Pretty sure I caught some inconsistancies with his lips a few times. And the impressions were very good, especially the Red Foxx one. But if it wasn't him, they did a good job getting somebody who sounded like him though.
Jordan, I'm planning the trip now. Trying to decide if I want to go north or west. I'm not willing to wait for DVD.
We're missing .
-worst part of the Battlestar news is that they're still toying with the idea of splitting the "final" season into 2 and playing the 2nd half in 2009. Of course, if they keep pushing back the start date of season 4, it might just run into 2009 on its own.
- Owning your own movie theater! if you didn't have to worry about ticket sales, how much fun would it be to pick and choose which movies to show the people? obvious answer = lots. for starters i'd play a thematically related short before every movie and good trivia questions/word-jumbles. i might bring back newsreels too (people are dumbin')
?. Darjeeling Limited
4. Bottle Rocket
3. Rushmore
2. Life Aquatic
1. Royal Tenenbaums
(Rushmore & Life Aquatic are nearly a tie, but i feel the need to champion Life Aquatic + i had a bad experience the 1st time i saw Rushmore)
-"...foot...ball..cream."
"fan-cy feast!"
"...poi-son gas."
Elias, Ghostwatch, and the UK gang, don't make the robot angry.
p.s. "chrys-ler car"
"Ryan's being a little b$@#h again."
Andrew, Finally somebody else who shares my opinion of The Life Aquatic! This is a very misunderstood film by most to me. I find it to be highly underrated. It's almost as if it's the cool thing to say "I didn't care too much for TLA" in movie critic circles. Kinda like The Godfather III. (on a side note: I think tG3 is a good film. Just doesn't compare to I & II. But then again, what does?)Back to WA. And dare I say, I find that most tend to overrated Bottle Rocket. Don't get me wrong. I still find it to be a great film. I love pretty much everything WA has done to this point. But I sometimes feel like Bottle Rocket gets a bit too much "indie cred" from people. It was a small film that nobody knew about, so it's gets more hipster points. My rankings (of which you could probably interchange depending on the weather):
1 - The Royal Tenenbaums
2 - Rushmore
3 - The Life Aquatic
4 - The Darjeeling Limited
5 - Bottle Rocket
Note, I consider all of these films favorites of mine. So the difference between #1 and #5 isn't a great deal. Darjeeling is very good and I enjoyed it in the cinema, but I can't really compare it too well as I've only seen it onec. From my experience with each of these movies, I liked them better with subsequent viewings. Kind of like Rushmore for Andrew, the first time I saw The Royal Tenenbaums, I wasn't overly thrilled. But now it's a classic. Partly somewhat has to do with my tastes and sense of humor changing over the years and well as being able to better understand/appreciate different facets of the films with the additional viewings.
Oh, almost forgot.
"ap-ple-sauce"
Darjeeling was playing in ONE theater in all of Orange County. It isnt a wide release movie, so chances are that you will have to make it a road trip.
Steph, I'm sure you've already found this info out. But it looks like it's playing in Tuscaloosa. Google maps says it's about an hour drive. That's not too bad at all.

Darjeeling just opened today in Memphis. It's on 2 screens. Michael Clayton on the other hand has only been on one screen at the largest chain in town, but it is at 2 other, inferior places as well.

Palmer - the robot's pretty terrifying, but nought against the vision of Ken Livingstone hanging out with Christian Slater. Two worlds that shouldn't collide there.

have a good weekend, Nard-Dogs!
you're the man now, nard dog!
Elias & Uk guys. Are any of you going to the NFL game? Seems that most Brits don't think too kindly of it. This from a BBC.co.uk forum:
"rubbish article on a rubbish sport from a rubbish country. wembley should be used for british sports not this fake overblown money making sport where the players play for about 2 minutes a game and get paid millions of dollars for it. its a disgrace to wembley and everything it stands for."
I didn't even realise it was on, despite some comments here about it. The sport doesn't interest me, but then few do so don't take it as any kind of slur against your great sport of pretty-much-rugby-with-lots-of-padding.
Also: NASCAR SUCKS!
Take care, you guys - I'm off to watch some darts, drink some warm beer and make my teeth more crooked while spending twice the amount on DVDs.
Look at me, being all satirical!
See y'all soon.
I'm interested in how the NFL is perceived in Europe. The game sold out 90,000 tickets in 2 hours and there apparently was high demand after that even. I think Elias, who has proclaimed to be a fan, said that tix prices currently are too pricey for him. Yet everything I read online from UK chaps seem to reflect the BBC quoted comment and as if they are bothered by it. They clearly have zero clue of the sport, yet it's "American", so they hate it. I was reading some people ripping on it, saying that it had nothing on cricket. Seriously? lol.
I hope no Brits take this as a personal insult, as it is in no way intended to be. But I find many in the UK severely myopic and insulated. My mom is from London and I've been there on many occasions. I have lots of friends there as well. So I know it's not everyone. But the country as whole might be the only one to think more of itself than does the ego-manical US. Regardless of this fact, I still quite like the country. I just find it sad when people think where they live is the epicenter (or epicentre) of the universe. We live in such a enormous and diverse world. To think all that matters is within our country's borders is absurd.
Ok, I've been enough of a buzzkill. I'll go find a link of some funny youtube video to post to make up for this negative rant.
And ghost, I agree. Nascar does indeed suck.
Don't Be Ridiculous!

Jordan, I remember when I learned this. I was surprised because I assumed it was an American. I just assumed.
it's like this Jordan - we invented football but we haven't won the World Cup since 1966. Also - Shakespeare.
Is imperialism one cause of the smug British attitude, Elias? Not that there's anything wrong with it or anything.
i know its morbid but is ths interview pre- or post-suicide attempt?
I wondered that too, Andrew. I'm thinking pre for some reason. He looks well.
Because I suspect I'm ocd
Wes and Adrien
The Wes and Owen vid looks like they're dressed for Autumn while Wes and Adrien look like they're dressed for Summer. What do you think? I really need to be leaving for work instead of worrying about this.
I think the lost empire is one reason for the snootiness among older Brits and that has rubbed off on some of the more impressionable younger ones.
As partiotism is, though, the act of believing in the superiority of a country merely because you were born there, the more over-the-top ones are the ones who will take any kind of sleight personally.
And in this country, just as I'm sure many of you feel about yours, the ones who make the most noise tend to be the ones with the more objectionable views.
Gah, I'm not an expert in sociology or politics, though. I think most countries attitudes to each other are still based on attitudes from their roles in World War II, regardless of whether you're talking to people far too young to have been involved or not, hence some may not be able to disassociate Germans and the Japanese from their wartime personae, that the French are perennial surrenderers and that the US didn't lift a finger to help until someone made it their business.
Please note, these aren't my personal feelings - but the question was asked and it's the best I can come up with.
Although it doesn't help that the British don't appear to exist in Hollywood WWII movies - U-571 is a particular offender in this respect.
Anyway - does any of this seem plausible?
For me - I just don't find American Football interesting - but I don't find cricket interesting either. I would actually much prefer to watch Nascar.
gw, i think you're mostly right. but americans' opinions on japan are most definitely not based on WWII. now, the stereotypes center around their love of cartoon porn and robots. oh. and strange game shows and commercials.
i think that supposed British snootiness is based off of their totally badass mustaches in centuries past.
I'd love it if the UK rejected the NFL. Why should we shove our crap down the throat of the rest of the world? When I found out Walmart is in Germany, great saddness swept over me.
I have found the answer, Andrew.
Obviously, that writer is ignorant because Anderson already said that he hasn't made a picture without Owen and he doesn't plan to ever make one without him.
I'm watching the Giants and the Dolphins. Anybody else?
i am, steph.
well, mostly. i'm running back (no pun intended) and forth playing computer games during the commercials.
/currently addicted to NWN2 Mask of the Betrayer
I'm watching the Eagles/Vikings. It's not been an uninteresting game so far; definitely a step-up from the typical Eagles' snooze-fests so far this season.
From Daniel Dae Kim's myspace blog:
AN APOLOGY
I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed by my actions of Thursday morning. It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawaii, a community that I love and call my home.
It is my intention to cooperate fully with the police and I am grateful to them for their sensitivity throughout this matter.
To my friends, family, colleagues and fans, thank you for your kind words of support. To those I have disappointed I can only ask that you accept my heartfelt apologies. I am truly, truly sorry.
Nice to see him just stepping up and accepting responsibility ... I kinda remember some lame long-winded explanation from Michelle Rodriguez, about how she didn't want to stay the night at EL's place, when she got busted.
Hey, I like you guys - you're lovely guys.
When my wife (yay!) read out the DDK apology from the news, I applauded her computer.
I have very little sympathy for drink drivers, but I have a lot of time for people making good their errors.
Josh Holloway moaned that the local police just had it in for the cast (as DDK was two times over the limit, this argument wouldn't hold much water) and Michelle Rodriguez famously bitched about some alcohol sensor she had fitted to her leg ("what do THEY care if I drink!?") - so something as simple as this helps the public feel benevolent about Daniel again, and may stop Jin becoming Michael fodder.
If England still wants NFL after that lack-luster game, then more power to em. All I'm trying to say is, I know the NFL wants to make more money by expanding across the pond but why do we want to Americanize everyone?
If the owners see a chance to make oodles of money outside of the US, they'll try to get it there. I've heard that games outside of the US is going to start being the norm, especially once they go to a 17-game season (would do away with the problem of one team sacrificing a home game). There was a report on ESPN today that the Commish wants to have the SB in London within the next 7-8 years.
And I hate NASCAR too. Of course, I'm a Northeasterer from a big city, so the real shock would be if I DID like NASCAR.
Did anyone notice out old buddy Paul Potts singing God Save the Queen? I never knew that God Bless America was such a blatant ripoff of God Save the Queen.
out=our
What is up with the hair?
Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!
I'm assuming, being one of my perennial moans, that the tickets for NFL games in the UK will be at least double what they are in the US (probably without much of the public knowing any better of it) which could be another reason - Any truth to this, Elias? I know not of what I speak.
And yes, "America" (Our Country 'tis of Thee) is adapted from God Save The Queen/King.
Here ya go
It's an awful, lifeless tune though - so you're welcome to it.
By the way - Charade (which I pronounce differently to you) is an excellent film (the slightly sappy ending is the only bit that dates somewhat) and one of my favourites.
It's one of the twistest plots I've ever encountered, but since it's just the one aspect of the plot that keeps twisting means it's very easy to follow.
Stunning piece of work, and was censored due to the troubled climate in the face of recent (1963) events.
I'm not big on cold sandwiches either.
I'm nearly finished with Bottle Rocket. It's not quirky and there's too much dialogue. I want to slap Dignon because he talks sooo much. But I think that's the point. He's especially annoying when he refers to himself in the third person. Anthony is good role for Luke. I don't think I've seen him better. I like it a lot but not as well as Tenenbaums or Rushmore.
Oops, I said God Bless America. Damn that short attention span...
We are at the 100 day mark, folks.
w00t!
good news, steph.
what's up, folks?
Over @ AAAPOP.COM (michael allred's website) they posted a Madman Doll that Stevi Crocheted in the Fan Section of their Gallery Page!
Check it out, it is awesome!
ralph, got a link? i can't find it.
is it the same doll that was on your myspace page a few days back? cuz that's pretty freakin' badass if that's handmade.
found it
it was covered up by the "E-mail the webmaster" link at the bottom of the page.
Hey Ralph, have you ever drawn the Madman of Snap City and sent Mike the picture? Have you drawn him at all?
couldn't get tickets in the end but we tried. Instead, we settled for watching the game at the Goose & Pork - and it was most certainly one for the purists.
The pitch cut up badly, but major embarrassment was avoided - it was a reasonably close game, the crowd was into it. I didn't hear them booing the national anthems which was a welcome surprise - if Soccer USA came to play Team England at Wembley I would guarantee booing ;)
The crowd was 99% more cool than it would have been had Lloyd Dobler not turned up.

Palmer, did you already send in your free bluray ps3 thing? I had put it off as I wasn't too thrilled with any of the films. Well, they just extended it and now IMO have a much better selection!
http://www.bluraysavings.com/
yeah, i almost flipped my lid when i saw how much better that selection is. but...
that's for blu-ray players bought between october 1st this year and the end of january next year. so, my player is stuck with the crappy selection.
just sent mine off to get Stealth, Species, Chicken Little, Italian Job, and... one that looks interesting! which is The Corpse Bride. i'll prolly try to sell the other four. althoughi hear that The Italian Job is pretty good.
gotta agree it would be sweet to have access to that new selection.
you saw Crank in Blu-Ray, right? that movie looks fantastic in 1080i. especially the water in the pool scene. blew my mind.
holli, if that actually worked and was only fifteen bucks, i might get that. although, i could just start watching basketball and i'm sure that they'd chase the ball for hours.
Well from now until June there's pretty much a basketball game on somewhere right? I passed on Grizzlies tickets for Wed.

In solidarity with our busy brother MB, I've been casting my mind over how hard it is to come up with names for babies, especially if you want them to stand out.
Luckily I found the....
Celebrity Baby Name Generator
Meaning that if I ever take the plunge, the world will have to accept the existence of my daughter, Sunrise Blink Ghostwatch.
Actually... that's pretty good.
Ahab Teak Eldritch.
Not a bad name for a semi-divine galaxy hoppin' cyborg's son!
Meadowlark Bambi Eldritch. How cute...
I got Merlot Cobalt for a boy name and Piper Plethora for a girl.
I think Merlot is more of a girl name. I'm pretty sure Merlot Cobalt (male) would have long hair like Kate Hudson and Cindy Crawford's boys.
Holli
My boy's name is Pirate Burgundy Mcfur ... that ain't bad.
My girls name is Bluebell Navy Mcfur, which is ok too ... I'm not sure if Bluebell and Navy go well together, though.
Claire Bennett?!
Tuesday. Boring, Tuesday.
I hope that Claire's not that stupid. What's wrong with them, it's a local news show and they rewind that clip like 5 times in succession to show her being taken out. Did you notice that only one football player stopped to help her out. I wonder if he was rewarded after the game.
The big guys don't care as long as they've got the adoration of the crowd.
Reminds me of Garth Ennis's "The Boys".
hey folks, I keep having problems with our audio. I dont know what happened with the recording last night, but the show should be fixed and posted later today.

My problem with podcasts mentioning Kristen Bell in various US accents (leading one part of my brain keep thinking they're saying Christian Bale and then another part having to correct the first part each time) is reaching its zenith with the Ramblecast.
