I love the camera! It's 2 megapixels; which is awesome, but there is no zoom. However, of the 3 previous camera phones I've owned before this, when has the zoom ever been of service to me? Never. Zooms degrade the photo quality so much, I'd never use it anyway.

The only ACTUAL downside to it is there's no flash for it. So you get amazing photos, but not in your basement. Not that I take a lot of photographs in my basement.

memphish said...

For anyone trying to keep up with the Cloverfield stuff, there's more info. out that the Ethan Haas website we spent last week playing on has nothing to do with the movie, but is instead linked to a video game. Here's a summary of that info.

I'm confused.

And Malcom. I totally give Bottle Rocket a robot lubricant. Robot lubricant for all Wes Anderson movies for that matter. Robot Lubricant has to be the best rating system ever. Regardless the movie, I think it should be used. lol.

Ben - caught up on "John From Cincinnati" I'm still on the fence, but have sort of resigned myself to watching the rest of the season. I figure it's the last anyway. That last episode was especially poopy though. Rebecca De Mornay trying to act enraged was a real low point.

Ralph - is it still possible to get Dharmalames stuff from Cafe Press? My goldenrod shirt should be arriving tomorrow, but i prefer white t-shirts and i never got around to ordering up the thong.

Buffy marathon tonight. i'm going to try and plow through 1/2 of season 6 and get a lot of design work done.

I agree Andrew, Bottle Rocket is my least favorite of WA's films. But the fact that I love the others so is a big reason why. For what it is, it's a damn good flick.

BTW, I went and saw Die Hard 4 the other day. I give that a messy splooge of Robot lube. I was surprised at home violent it was for being PG-13. Apparently if you don't show much blood, you can shoot and kill as many people as you wish. And just as long as we don't see one nano-second of a nipple!!!!

Stephanie said...

And you can only say the f word once and keep a PG13? 13 year olds can hear it once but 17 year olds can hear it more than once? As a parent of a child who loves PG13 movies, that enrages me. Who the hell are the mpaa?

i don't want to get punched in the face, but i'm gunna stick up for America here. the US is a lot better with nudity than some other countries. cut the US a break; we're not outlawing these movies, we're not stoning anyone, and we're not threatening to execute pornographers. there are much stricter countries than the US.

and even if we're stricter than europe, the movie system (and the MPAA itself) is a voluntary creation of the theater owners and the movie industry. and if a couple wants to bring their kids to an R movie, they can. heck, there were little kids in the audience when i saw "Summer of Sam."

the US is down on underage kids watching nude scenes but is ok with violence (as long as there's no blood). on the other end of the spectrum, Europe is OK with the boobs but has "puritanical" views on exposing kids to violence. in the UK and Germany, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had to change their name to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because the word "Ninja" was too violent. the WORD was too violent. and when Attack of the Clones came out, Jango Fett caught shit in the UK cuz he headbutted someone who wasn't wearing protective headgear.

america... FUCK YEAH!

Jordan said...

I hear ya Palmer. There's a nice balance in between both sides. I just don't see at all the big deal about nudity. Now sex, for sure. Raunchy sex scenes are one thing. But I just don't understand how a 2 second flash of boob is so much worse than John McClane killing about 30 people in a not so friendly manner. I'm not saying that either is bad or that it should be censored by any means. Just that I don't understand this country's gigantic hang up with nudity and near deaf ear to violence.

Just watch, in a few years we'll have PG-13's with full on bloody deaths. I mean, just compare an R from 15 years ago to a PG-13 today. But when it comes to nudity, in a few years the ratings board will still be just as paranoid.

On a side note. Has anybody seen the documentary about how the MPAA and movie ratings work? I think it's called "Rated R".

Ever notice how in the 80's every movie showed boob? Nowdays they're only in sex scenes. Have filmmakers given up in the battle with the mpaa? I don't think the public is disinterested in seeing boobies. I can't tell you how fun it is to type the word boobie.

I seem to recall that, back in the day, you could once in a while find a boobie in a PG rated movie. Now I don't think that you could find one even in a PG-13 rated movie. Because all the problems with society? It's because someone once saw a boobie as a kid.

Thanks for the info Stephanie! I typed in my wife's name and got Chi-chi's. I'll have to try that the next time the moment presents itself. Maybe it'll go over better than the time I tried to name them 'Beavis and Butthead'.

We kick out the boringest white people from our country and they go and form one where years later they can make sure nobody sees a nipple in a film. (Sorry!)

We have a totally different rating system so its hard to see what the comparisons are, but I assume the greater level of boobs in 80s movies would be cos they were for a higher age bracket.

In this country the tipping point seemed to be Jurassic Park.

Back then, it should really have been rated a 12 (NOBODY under 12 admitted, even with a guardian - bear in mind, the 12 only came in because otherwise, Batman in 1989 would have to be rated 15) as the next one down was PG (pretty much as you imagine, any kid of any age can go with a parent but you still expected a fairly gentle movie experience.

Money talked and Jurassic Park went PG (otherwise you could kiss goodbye to a shitload of its revenue).

Nowadays fewer and fewer people go to the cinema so to maximise box office they need to make films as broad base appeal as possible. the kids could usually handle much more, but parents may be concerned about the content- which is why you now get those little boxes telling you exactly what to expect.

This has given us the PG-13 horror movie (Boogeyman, Cursed) and other Things That Should Not Be.

Steph - a question. If taking a son to see a film instead of a daughter, would you be more concerned about boob? Would you think twice at taking her to a film with the tiniest flash of willy action in it?

I'm not "calling you out" on anything - I'm just wondering if that would make a difference.

In terms of our cinema tastes we used to sit pretty neatly between the US and mainland Europe. However, as in so many other things, the gravity of the States is dragging us further towards it year by year.

I'm pretty hopeful none of the above will cause offence - if it does, let me know and I'll try to explain.

ghostwatch, I don't kow how I'd feel if I were a parent of a boy rather than a girl. It would be a totally different mindset. As you know girls have to be protected and coddled. Boys have to be made into men. They have to be toughened up. I'm being sarcastic if you can't tell. It's just that in Europe nudity is done tastefully and artsy-fartsy. Here, we've cheapened it. Or somebody has made it trashy.

Stephanie said...

Poor Daniel Radcliffe. He's over here to promote Harry Potter and all anyone wants to hear about is his experience doing nude on stage.

Yeah when i was in Switzerland the Nudity was very tastefull. Has anyone seen the show My Games Fever. They have all these stupid puzzles to slove and you can win money. Well at 11pm each night they had a show like, but the twist was the lady hosting the show would randomly take off her clothes. since it was in german i couldn't fully understand why her clothes kept coming off but it was funny to watch.

PalmerEldritch said...

Mike, when you mention German TV, all I can think of is Sprockets .

I think the issue with the rating system boils down to this- parents are too lazy to pay attention to what their kids are doing. They want the government to do it for them. If we're not careful, the government will have full control and it will be our fault. They have the internet in their sights now. Ok, gone to register Morgan for school now. Ugh.

PalmerEldritch said...

i think the MPAA is a non-governmental body. but they might be mandated by law now. they're made up of representatives of the major movie studios. and then the national association of theater owners (the other NATO) agrees to stand by the MPAA's (sometimes arbitrary) ratings.

oh. gotta listen to the Dharmalars. then the Lars.

aimee is lost said...

I'm going to put my two cents into this MPAA debate:

Boobies and violence are both wonderful additions to films - if you're an adult. I don't have children, but if I did, I'd hope that I would have enough sense to shelter them as much as possible from excessive sex and violence. They get enough of that in school.

And that is what it really comes down to. Parental responsiblity. The fucking parents need to have some fucking common sense and not let their children see movies that they know are going to have bad shit in it.

Um, if the movie is called "DIE HARD"...do you think it's going to be appropriate for children? Probably not.

Get a fucking clue mom and dad.

I went to see the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Beginning when it was in theaters and there was a family with mom, dad, and three freaking kids, that were - I shit you not - ages 10, 7, and I swear, a girl no older than 4 years old. This movie contained some of the most disturbing images I've ever seen in a horror film. Chainsaws ripping into bodies like there was no tomorrow. Girls getting raped by old dudes. And there was a fucking 4 year old girl watching it, with her parents.

Oh yeah, my boobies are named Love Muffins

Stephanie said...

Well, yeah. I should have been more clear, p. They'd rather let someone else mandate the rules. Because of this, the government will get their hands on our internet.

aimee is lost said...

That is the grossest looking nipple-thing I've ever seen. Bai Ling is way gross.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

Again - hope I caused no offence.

In the UK 300 was rated 15 here meaning that (legally, at least) nobody under the age of 15 could get in. And even that was pretty lenient.

Texas Chainsaw: The Beginning was 18 - our closest thing to NC17 (that, I believe, pretty much every film wants to avoid for reasons that we, with an 18 certificate being quite normal, can't quite understand).

On a more positive note, I'm watching Top Secret! again - was really happy to translate the Pig Latin being spoken by a priest on the way to the electric chair ("you're going to get fried n the chair"). Tried it in Google and there were only 2 results.

Has anyone seen "This Film Is Not Yet Rated"? it is a documentary all about the MPAA. it is in my queue. i may bump it up and see if you guys will be into it or not. My friend Jeff and Flenoy say that it is really really interesting and very entertaining. I hear that the filmmakers get a PI to follow the "secret" members of the mpaa to find out who they are, then they make the documentary and end up having to screen the movie for them to get their rating.

sounds really interesting.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

Jordan said...

Here's the documentary about the MPAA that I was referring to yesterday. Not sure who it was, but I remember coming across it on somebody on here's netflix queue. I think it might have been Andrew.

This Film is Not Yet Rated

Steph, You are right about nudity being done more tastefully in other countries. But the big difference to me is how the different countries view nudity at it's most basic form. Many in this country directly relate nudity with sex and debauchery. Where as in other places, a naked person is just a naked person. Here it's "oh my goodness! That woman is naked!" Other places it's, "Eh. What's the big deal?" So all of our young innocent kids that we're affraid of being corrupted are raised with the connotation that nudity is wrong and taboo. That it is something that shouldn't be seen.

And just like anything, when something is viewed as taboo or off limits, it thusly becomes something that inquiring or rebeleous minds seek out. Just like drugs or alcohol. You tell young kids that drinking or smoking weed is "bad", they are going to be drawn to the "I'm not supposed to be doing this. Oooh, I'm being bad" excitement that comes with it.

If a child from infancy has it instilled in his mind that a naked woman is dirty and directly related to sex, his mindset will be shaped to see things in this way. But if nobody ever told him that a naked body was a big deal, he wouldn't care too much. All I'm saying is that a naked body on it's own isn't that big of a deal. The only reason it is in this country is because we make it that way. And like I said in a previous post, I'm not talking about hard core sex or even casual sex scenes. I don't think that young children should be watching some chick being done doggy style while Christian Bale is watching himself flex in the mirror. And nor do I think a young child should watch the rest of that movie. lol.

All of what I just said is really beside the point. Steph and Aimee both nailed it. Parents need to be more responsible in what they allow their children to see. Don't just rely on the rating. And for crying out loud, please really think about it before you go take your 7 year old to go see Saw III.

Ok, rant over.

PalmerEldritch said...

again, the US gets a lot of shit about a lot of issues. but at least we're not the other guys. not illegal for a woman to show her ankle or any stuff like that.

a woman can legally go topless in NYC. most places in the US, public nudity is a fine or a minor crime. a woman who does that in certain parts of the world gets stoned to death. credit where credit is due.

Jordan said...

Of course Palmer. This isn't a bash the US session. I hate when people do that. For all the flaws that Euros point out, they have their own set.

And just because one might be critical of something in their own country doesn't mean that they hate it or don't appreciate it. That's one thing that I like about this country. Most people aren't scared to point the finger at themselves. I've been to a lot of countries across the water where most of the people are so quick to rip on the states, yet they are impervious to admitting their home land has any flaws.

My only point this whole time is that if I had a young child (boy or girl) and I had to pick between them seeing a naked woman (not having sex mind you) or seeing a guy murder a bunch of people, it would be a no brainer for me favoring the harmless woman in her natural form. But it's soooooo much the other way around here, and that just baffles me.

Let's get onto a less serious topic. Those Bai Ling nipples, nasty huh? lol.

PalmerEldritch said...

Bai Ling's boobies, according to the Boobie Name Generator, are "Mork and Mindy."

highly appropriate since they look like some kind of alien creatures.

Jordan said...

I think she must've ran out of money while getting her boobs done. She made it all the way to the nipples and had to go with the cheapest alternative. Either that or she does weird things with them, really weird things.

elias said...

This Film is Not Yet Rated - I saw it and was somewhat disappointed. Brief history of MPAA, then they hire PIs to track down board members but it didn't really make for compelling viewing.

They also interview directors who have clashed with MPAA - it may be worth seeing it for this alone. Could have done with more Kevin Smith and others.

Great episodes of the Lars & the Dharmalars. If you're not gong to comicon, the preparation-cast might make you a little more green like Stephanie.

Unfortunately "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" didn't really live it up to it's potential.
here's my netflix note: "potentially interesting subject, but the investigation is sloppy and substance free. doesn't make a strong case about the impact of unfavorable ratings or illuminate the motivations of the MPAA"
Part of the problem is that i already knew about the inconsistencies in the MPAA's ratings where violence largely gets a pass but any reference to sexuality, especially homosexuality, makes the difference between PG & R or NC-17. The film spends a lot of time with that, as it should, but didn't really get into why they should be so puritanical or what they get out of it.
I don't mind things being rated in theory, if just to provide parents with a frame of reference, but the reality is that film ratings are demonstrably tied to the financial earnings of movies. PG-13 movies will make more money than R-rated movies, and an NC-17 rating can ruin a film. Studios then edit the films, sometimes in script stage, to achieve target ratings, which means you get shitty PG horror or action movies when the premises are obviouly R-rated subject matter.

Hit my comic shop this morning. New issues of Madman and B.P.R.D.!
I almost bought the issues for Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 8 comic, since i'm only 1.5 seasons away on DVD, but decided i'll just wait for the trade paperback.

Ben/Ralph, you can make a list in Netflix of all of your "Stick It In Your Queue" picks. I just made my first list of "underseen films" which is essentially just my "Stick It In Your Queue" picks.

Speaking of American Gladiators. I've been watching it a little bit of late on ESPN Classic. The one event that I can't stand to watch has got to be Atlasphere. That game is so boring.

PalmerEldritch said...

every American Gladiator event is handtailored for maximum awesomeness. just some more than others...

gotta love the eliminator, joust, the wall, and the one where they shoot stuff at that target while avoiding tennis balls.

and any time that they interview a gladiator, you know you're in for some fun.

Jordan said...

I love it when the a contender and gladiator get a little too into it. I was watching the other day and some chick pretty much took a swing at one of the female gladiators. The gladiator was pissed, but cooler heads intervened. I was disappointed.

Ralph & Ben, I have to take this moment to thank you for sticking it in my queue. I don't think I've brought it up before.

You guys actually recommend some pretty good flicks, and should be recognized for your awesome taste in movies. Because of you, I was able to stick Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in my queque, and it felt really good.

Ralph- said...

actually? was there any doubt. I will start recommending movies that are not to everyone's taste. i am trying to mold my recommendations (and i think ben is as well) to kind of have you all guage where we stand on movies. I am going to start of with films that may be a little off, but crowd pleasers non the less. I am going to get to the point where i get really obscure, but i figured a progression is in order

Jordan said...

"I have to take this moment to thank you for sticking it in my queue."

That's what she said.

aimee is lost said...

"...and it felt really good."

Jordan said...

Uh oh. Ralph is going to get obscure on us? Prepare for Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla II & Robot Jox.

Ralph- said...

ok hold on one second. Robot Jox will never be in the queue segment. i had that movie in my queue and watched it, and it was a big old steamy pile!!!

I was going to include my favorite Godzilla Movie maybe around Sept. or January.....HOLY SHIT! i have a lot of movies to recommend to you all. I think that ben and i may go into TV shows that you can stick in your queue.

i hope that i can find enough obscure movies that i actually like to stick in the segment.

Jordan said...

Hey, has anybody watched the Up series documentaries? I've heard some good things and am considering checking them out. If you haven't heard of them, it's a series of documentaries that follows young the lives of young children and catches up with them every 7 years. The first one was in the 60's, so the kids are now full on adults. I think it would be very interesting to see people's lives progress that much over a short period of time.

mb said...

Couldn't agree more about Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - saw it in the theaters and thought it was best dialogue I had heard in a long time. It's like a bottomless trough of good quotes (for posting as I am about to do)

/Perry: Go. Sleep badly. Any questions, hesitate to call.
Harry: Bad.
Perry: Excuse me?
Harry: Sleep bad. Otherwise it makes it seem like the machanism that allows you to sleep...
Perry: What, fuckhead? Badly's an adverb. Who taught you grammar? Get out. Vanish.

mb said...

checking out the tv tropes site - this could lead to a lot of un-productivity

Ralph- said...

i know, jordan, i just needed to make perfectly clear on how shitty Robox Jox was. By the way, i think ben and i need to start recommending movies that are so bad, that they have to be seen to believe. i bet you that i will end up putting "The Apple" on one of the future episodes. Look for that in December!!

Jordan said...

Yeah. That's what I was saying a while ago. You guys should do a whole segment on "Movies so bad, they are good" or "Movies so bad, you have to see them with your own eyes". That would be highly entertaining.

PalmerEldritch said...

ralph, if you're looking for unbelievably bad movies, i'm STILL recommending Hoop Soldiers.

also, great Comic-Con tips. they'll be very useful. also, mad props to a man who owns Re-Animator on DVD.

must've watched that movie about a dozen times in middle school. gore AND boobies. two great tastes that go great together.

aimee is lost said...

I'm trying to think of a movie that sucked balls really hard, but it's funny because I just always seem to find a lame redeeming quality in all of them.

Give me all of your shitty unwanted movies. I'll give them a good home. Poor things.

Just browsing the Tv Tropes site, and in the list of "Acceptable Targets" on TV, it says:

THE OVERWEIGHT: Once a television character reaches a certain level of tubbiness, the show they are in will lose all sympathy for them. It is generally assumed that overweight people are either pathetic, obnoxious losers or Corrupt Corporate Executives. They also tend to be portrayed as ludicrously obsessive eaters. Glandular conditions and low metabolism, which are fairly common in real life, are treated as a lame excuse in the "I'm just big boned" mold

This is one of the many reasons I love Lost - that they have managed to break MULTIPLE stereotypes (overweight bashing, general intolerance for non-english speaking protagonists...) and done it so well, with such good writing. I know we've all talked about this but reading that just underscored to me that I think the show is not only good, but important to have on the air.

I think my first email to the Dharmalars was about how much RobotJox sucked. I seem to remember Ralph protested in his reply but that was probably before he saw it again. It was probably one of my worst rentals as a kid and it will never be forgiven for being shit.

all this boobs talk reminds me:

"Now I know I'm pretty, but I ain't as pretty as a couple of titties."

mb said...

now - back to the suck-ass movie talk. reading a description of the Apple makes me think of those other 2 cinematic apogees, Xanadu and Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band

apologies to lovers of those films

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

All I remember from Robot Jox was the cheap Terminatory-y villain guy. Didn't he get stabbed in the cheek with an Afro-comb?

Guys - I'm gonna knock it off with the cinema rating comparisons. I'm not US-bashing, and if you thought I was, I'm terribly sorry. It'd be a silly thing for me to do on a predominantly US blog that I enjoy the company of. Most of the bashing seemed to come from in-land.

However, as penance, I'll watch any given film where an American detective comes to London to help with a case and without fail everyone else in the city is utterly pointless or antagonistic. Recommend? Actually - make your suggestion Split Second and I'll do it happily.

I bigged up Withnail & I the other day for having two Doctor Whos (one slightly less official than the other these days) and Vernon Dursley in it - but Top Secret! fans note that it also features a short but memorable appearance by Eddie Tagoe, AKA La Chocolat-Mousse as "Presiming Ed".

Mother Brain, i know how The Apple description sounds, but believe me, there is nothing that can compare to it. I know that Producer Ryan owns both Xanadu and The Apple (for the bad factor). but he will stand by The Apple any day of the week!

I will have to do the Apple on the show, because after watching the Apple, it will be etched your mind for at least one week!!

Seargent Peppers is a movie i want to see, but producer ryan wont let me. You should send an email to SeargentPepperMovieIsAwesome@dharmalars.net!
with the subject line "am i not turtley enough?"

Ralph- said...

Chocolat-Mousse is in Raiders of the Lost Ark

My apologies to you all.

Ralph- said...

elias, i will probably do Ed Wood next week. i almost did it this week, but we did a comic con theme.

Ralph- said...

aimee, send those balcony shots before your phone gets struck by lightning.

PalmerEldritch said...

best of both worlds, ralph gets balcony shots and doesn't have to feel awkward the next time you two talk.

"i will probably do Ed Wood next week."

that's what she said.

PalmerEldritch said...

ally (of the future), that was a damn good That's What She Said. three cheers for you!

Speaking of terribly awful movies, I just watched part of Dead or Alive, the movie based on the video game. (it wasn't my choice) Yikes. If it weren't for the hot chicks, it would've been entirely unwatchable. There's this one weird scene where Jaime Pressly's dad walks into her room while she is sharing her bed with a girl. And for the rest of the movie, he keeps making lesbian jokes to his own daughter while laughing and sounding horny. Really weird.

mb said...

Well Ralph - now you've intrigued me - I'll have to watch the Apple at some point.

mb said...

and - wow I didn't think that Bai Ling's nipples could be more disturbing, but likening them to "sausage" did it.

elias said...

when I was in Canada years ago my brother insisted on seeing Mortal Kombat instead of Desperado. I still hold a grudge.

I love Ed Wood and Depp has possibly never been better.

Ralph- said...

i love Depp's portrayal of Ed Wood, but i am really fond of his portrayal of Raul Duke in Fear and Loathing.

elias said...

"Tell me about the fucking golf shoes!"

There are so many performances to consider but I think his Ed Wood has great humour and more serious moments, crossdressing, etc.

Saw Ralph's letter in Madman! very nice. the only comic i ever wrote to was Walking Dead. i mostly wrote to give my brother a shout out, but it didn't get printed.

So I was going back and listening to a couple of the very first TLI shows Kim and Aimee did that I didn't catch. And guess what? I found out MB's real name! The mystery is solved. Aimee mentions it the first time he emailed them. Now that I know the secret, it begs the question. Seeing as his name starts with neither m or b, what does mb stand for then?

mb said...

Wow - impressive sleuthing Jordan. However, as my real name does in fact start with an M, I want to hear what Aimee said, I don't remember her referring to me as something else. Which episode?

Anonymous said...

I swear to God, Ralph. I will swim across the Pacific for the sole purpose of kicking your ass.

The Apple is completely entertaining. It's not your typical bad movie. The "suck factor" keeps your interest for the entire running time. We recorded an episode devoted to The Apple, but after realizing we couldn't properly convey the "suck," we shelved it. The only time we've done that intentionally, I think.

The Sgt. Pepper film is a crime against humanity. George Burns should not sing Fixing a Hole. I do, however, own two double LP copies of the soundtrack. I have no idea why.

Jordan said...

Really mb? Dang. I thought I had figured it out. She called you Adam. This is in what I think was the 2nd podcast they did, which is the oldest that shows up on itunes.

mb said...

True say Jordan (as Kim says). I am an "M" in real life.

And wow - you're right, I just heard it! I think they were just mixing up the email Kim had just read from Adam with mine.

That's funny - I had never caught that before.

mb said...

And speaking of that podcast - wow - Kim makes out with random guys in bars?!?! Another detail I apparently missed on first listen!

PalmerEldritch said...

hear that, mb? that was the sound of hundreds of internet nerds booking trips to the T Dot to wait in bars for a chance to randomly make out with Kim.

Jordan said...

Yeah, I laughed at that part too. Kim is a true player for life. Believe that.

Is it bad that until the movie came out, I had never heard of Transformers except in passing? I don't get it though-in two senses.

First, I don't get how I missed the whole Transformers thing. Maybe I was just that into Barbies?

Second, I'm not entirely sure I get the whole appeal. Cars that can turn into one thing? Just that with Barbie, she can change her outift in a hundred different ways, whereas Transformers only have one...

Are these thoughts just a little too overboard for this blogspot? Becuase I know you all love Transformers...but was just wondering if anyone else felt the same.

add to that that i was like 3 or something when i started watching. what little boy doesn't like exploding robots turning into trucks and driving around crashing into each other?

transformers is a pretty cool concept but on top of that is the nostalgia thing.

and Optimus Prime was like Abraham Lincoln and John Wayne rolled into one GIANT TRANSFORMING ROBOT!!!! how cool is that guy?

but, yes, it helps if you were into it when you were young.

transform and roll out!

p.s. voice of optimus prime == voice of eeyore.

Finally finished up with The Chin, and shipped it out today to Ralph in Anaheim, and hopefully on to Comic-Con.

I think that any discussion of the worst films of all time has to start and end with Batman & Robin. Two words: batsuit nipples. Well, at least they weren't Bai Ling's nipples.

Autobot name: Tracks Alert.
Decepticon: Frenzy Cracker (I like that one!).

Following recent talk of the PS3 price cut - allow me to bring you up to date with the situation over here:

Thanks, Sony

So in short, for just £125 more than the new 80 gig version (Reuters say that's $254 - the total price of the UK machine being $863) we can get one with a 20 gig smaller hard drive, another controller and two games that you probably won't get to choose what they are.

Add this to the fact that, because of the use of some cheaper innards, the European PlayStation 3 is only mildly compatible with PlayStation and PS2 games instead of the fully compatible Japanese and US version and you've got a pretty pertinent reason why no fucker is buying the giant bastard.

I'd still quite like to win one, though. But not buy one.
