once again. Dharmalars.Net is in a very very primitive state, but i thought i would tease you with it.

HELL YEAH! Rock on R&B! And a TLI to come - there IS sunshine in the summertime!

Going back to the last thread - thank you Brooklyn (and how excellent is it that you get to screen flicks - nice!)

Trevor & Ally - I am totally running "The Deuce" by the wife - I like it as a nickname if nothing else - lol
(if you can't be a bit narcicssistic with your son...life ain't worth it)

P.S. Trevor - I hope you dream of sweet smelling roses to counteract the effects of your chilli dinner

oh no. dharmalars have their own website now? i didn't think ben's gigantic ego could get any bigger. now this. i just watched your videos. your matching beards are cute. you know how old married couples start to look alike after awhile? you guys are exactly like that. big, round, and beardy.
lharmadars ho!

International-J said...

oh sam for o-town, don't be hatin'

mb said...

I just absolutely don't get this ego thing people keep layin' on old Ben. First some anon poster (I think - multiple threads ago) says he's a diva, now this - WTF. I don't see it. Or perhaps Sam is just f-ing w/Ben.

Scott said...

woohoo...looking forward to the new "the Lars"

I haven't been able to check the threads much the last couple days...did Kim or Aimee let on when we can expect the new TLI also?

Anonymous said...

MB, I think the ego stuff is a joke about how Ben never visits the blogspot. And also about when he said, "I am no longer accepting myspace friend invitations." Ben is good people though. Even if he's hit the big time.

Benjamin said...

I swear, you guys rip on me thirteen or fourteen more times and I am out of here!

Welcome to Summer, ladies and germs. And really, I'm just calling it "Summer" out of a lifetime of habit. It's actually more like "Summer and Most of Winter." We'll get through the hiatus, but we have to take it like alcoholics and Schneider. One day at a time.

mb said...

Schneider...yeah baby! killer pull.

mb said...

Thanks 'Morgan' :)

In all the permutations of MB we've seen, has there been a Marcus Brody? If you say no, I'll say it's because he blends in.

No Ben. I think you are the first.

PS, My movies both suck and blow.

In an effort to try to keep you at the blogspot, Ben, you and ralph- are the most modest podcasters I've seen. I don't know where these people are getting these ideas.

casey_donahue said...

that was in Fl in Disney World, which is my favorite place to visit.

I started listening to doodoo-caca in NY but finished in D.C.

and then I started the ramblecast in D.C. and will finish it on the way to Fl

I havent slept in 24 hours.

MB, You can't have The Deuce, that's my next dog's name. I've been waiting 12 years to use it.

Well I guess you can use it but I'll tell people some guy in Oregon named his kid the same thing as my dog.

Looking forward to the 'Lars. Is it on the Dharmalars feed or a new one? Off to check out Dharmalars.net.

P.S. It's raining at the beach, but should stop soon.

Podcsts are starting to get backed up ... haven't listened to J&Js Ramblecast yet, and now the Lars is up, plus a new TLI coming soon. Curse this job where I can't wear headphones!

PalmerEldritch said...

ah. The 'Lars was much needed on this uber boring never ending day at work. Thanks for keeping me sane for 45 minutes, guys.

also, didn't catch aimee's last comment at 12:30 last night. definitely caught her "Skater" comment this morning though. yeesh!

Benjamin said...

It was excellent of Aimee to kick off our off-season tradition of guest drop intros. I'm really looking forward to all those.

Did anyone else figure out the new logo like I did after staring at it for ten minutes?

PalmerEldritch said...

ben, i totally didn't catch it at midnight last night. this morning, i noticed that the Dharmalars prompt monster turned into a Skull and Crossbones evil prompt.

PalmerEldritch said...

well, i assume that was the inspiration for the logo. it may just been a wacky coincidence. either way it's pretty badass looking. reminds me a little of Murray the Demonic Talking Skull.

nice to see some random Cicero on the new Dharmalars site - is this another DaVinci Load?

Couldn't get the file converted this morning so I'll listen tonight.

mb said...

You know - I always think of smart-ass things to say about the various MB's that pop up (cause they truly are funhy) - but if I respond to them, it just looks like I did it. Must hold back. Don't want another MB-gate - lol ;)

Anonymous said...

I don't know what you're talking about mb.

Anonymous said...

Hey, I got a question about J&J's ramblecast. They got a new guy named Cliff on with them. That isn't that douche wad who does that generally speaking podcast, is it? If so, I may have to stop listening.

For the record. As far as the Lars go. I'm a Ben fanboy all the way. You guys can have your Ralph Macchio. Everybody who's anybody with half a brain can tell that Ben is the true genius behind the duo. Ralph is just the eye candy. Ben is the meat and potatoes.

One final though. What happened to the TLI girls?! Did they get in a fight and quit? That would be horrible seeing as they never did a finale episode. And as for that show, I am a fan of the one who talks about books and says batshit crazy all the time. The other one is interesting sometimes. Decent game show host. But the nutty one makes that show listenable.

COME BACK MYOKOM W/ SAS! Come back to us! The fill in shows are nice and all, but nothing like the original. Kind of like comparing Coca Cola to Coke Zero. Just not the same.

Ralph- said...

it is a different cliff.

PalmerEldritch said...

the dude named Cliff from the Ramblecast isn't the GSPN guy (thank the baby jeebus). he's Jay's buddy who directs the vidcasts for them.

according to the lovely ladies of the lost initiative, we'll be getting our TLI sometime this week. aimee is the one who says batshit crazy and kim is the one with the radio voice. oooh la la!

and i'd love to hear Craig and Ryan and Dylan make some appearances in the podosphere over the summer.

PalmerEldritch said...

Well, I have nothing to share today other than the pool has beaten me. I give up. Nine times out of ten I have to google something in Elias' comment. Aimee's intro made me miss her even more also. I still haven't made it to the post office, Ally. And Cliff is very talented. I crack up hearing Jack imitate him.

They should have used 'Through the Looking Glass' as the Emmy-nomination episode ... 'Man from Talahassee' was pretty good too though!

Trevor -
Glasses guy is the character "Michael Bolton" from "Office Space", and you are correct that it is Denholm Elliot - in his immortal role as Marcus Brody in the Raiders/Indiana Jones films

Trevor McFur said...

Never seen Office Space (it's somewhere in the queue). Couldn't remember the name of DE's character from Raiders. Didn't he die a few years ago? Guess he won't be in the new one coming out next year.

mb said...

Trevor - he did die - and wow - I also thought it was a couple years ago - but apparently it was 1992 according to IMDB! Dayum!

How dare anybody on here bring up the name Cliff Ravensdouche on this sacred of places! If I were the Cliff of Jay & Jack, I'd change my name.

The funniest thing about mb's pictures is that he actually googled the term "Michael Bolton" to find that picture. HA! Wish he wife walked in on him at that point.

Hearing Aimee's voice makes me miss that batshit crazy little bitch. :(

Gummo is the forgotten Marx Brother. Maybe because he wasn't funny.

Aimee has been lying low for the same reason I have. We are all enjoying a little break! I don't believe any of us have started "hating" the blog or such like.

It's been the LONGEST day!!!!!!!!

elias said...

Jimmy the Gent - good to hear from you.

All the podcasters deserve a break after 16 weeks straight.

"Jacuzzi, sir?"

Jordan said...

I hear that Jimmy. Does this weather suck or what? Last week really spoiled us. I'm really not liking this one bit.

BTW, I was bored and messing around with the baby name thing. And turns out that Hurley was a somewhat used name back in the early 1900's. Funny stuff.

[ally] said...

Thanks, Trevor, for getting a girl's hopes up. Now I will have to find something else do tomorrow night, like have a pillowfight with my girlfriends.

Jimmy said...

Elias...

Sadly Jacuzzi's knock me out...not so great with the hot water baths. But yes, I get the point.

Jordan...what's with the Seattle weather, dude? You are right...it's been so erratic.

Yes, I have to say, 16 straight weeks took it out of the team somewhat. I have been (excuse the pun) Lost this last two weeks. No show, no Lars show...I'm reverting back to being a drifter with no ambition, kicking cans around Capitol Hill and talking smack about my neighbors...

[ally] said...

Anonymous said...

Come on now, guys ...

Great podcast, but I'm beginning to think that you've got to the point with Dre's calls that you are just putting them on for as long as you can just to spite the Anonymous posters that are voicing an entirely legitimate concern. It's beginning to feel suspiciously like you guys don't even care what he talks about any more, but you'll just put in a 10-minute call of his 'cause you know it's going to fuck off all those anonymousses. And I think it's getting to the point where you're letting that affect your podcasts because as fond as you may be of him ... I think most of us would admit that mega-huge call of his at the start of listener feedback got a little grating after the 6th and 7th minute.

Meghan in London.

Stephanie said...

I'm tired of defending Dre's calls.
Ally, book is in the mail. I got in just under the wire.
Aimee, in case you come back and read this, Brad Pitt is going to play He-Man.
Elais, I always liked Poe.
Trevor, somethings you shouldn't admit, like not seeing Office Space. Fight Club, I'm just getting around to.

[ally] said...

Thanks, Steph. I also have not seen Fight Club, and before I hear anything about it. I will put it in my Netflix and get it ASAP. As for Office Space, I've seen it and loved it!

International-J said...

Dre will never be buried in the sand by mistake, he will always be with us. If you want to listen to listener feedback, listen to J&J or TLI. The Lars accepts everyone like Jesus. Yes everyone The Lars are like Jesus!

Jordan said...

Pitt signed on for He-Man? Ugh. I read a couple months back that the studio wanted him for it, but didn't think he'd go for it.

I've said this a million times before. Dre needs his own show. (Dre laugh inserted here)

Jordan said...

How have you people not seen Fight Club? All I can say is you better not get spoiled at all or the movie really loses it's edge. If you haven't been spoiled already, hurry up and see it now before somebody blurts out something!

Meghan, The Lars Line/You All Everybody Segment is for anyone who has something to say.ANYONE. I would actually be sad if Dre did not call us. We take pride in accepting ALL calls to the Dharmaline. There has only been 2 occasions in which i felt that it was not acceptable to play certain calls. Only 2. Everything that you hear on the show is everything that i get.

Jay and Jack get around 100-200 calls a week that they weed through and put on the show. Luckily we do not get those kinds of numbers, cause i would have to start cutting out callers.

As long as i can get away with it, i will play every call that comes through our email. We want everyone to be heard. We want everyone to speak their mind.

What would happen if you voiced your opinion on the Dharmaline and i decided not to play it. That wouldnt be fair to you, just as it isnt fair to anyone else who calls the show.

I am sure that it isnt that big of a problem to fast forward through calls if you think they go on too long.

Cant you just have fun with the free entertainment that we spend so much of our free time providing for everyone? cause bitching about it make me upset, and if i am upset that means i am not having fun anymore, and if i am not having fun doing the podcast, than it goes away.

I guess the movie studios are running out of old tv shows to remake.

"According to Variety, Hasbro and the William Morris Agency have just partnered up in an effort to turn a bunch of properties into TV shows, movies and video games. Properties like G.I. Joe, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Clue, Candy Land and the Ouija Board."

A Candy Land movie? Sweet! Hopefuly it's done in a dark "Batman Begins" style. Lord Licorice would make for a bad ass villian.

Trevor McFur said...

I personally am not a big fan of extended listener feedback (I listen because I want to hear the hosts). Fortunately, iPods come equipped with this amazing little button that lets you zip right through the parts that you don't like. So if I don't want to listen to feedback, then ... I don't listen to it!

Anonymous said...

And that my friends is why Ralph is the man of the people. He's truly one of us. I heard a rumor that Ben wanted to get rid of the "fan" segment, saying that it detracted from their awesomeness. But Ralph stood up to him and told him that he'd leave the show if the people didn't have an outlet for their voice. Here here Ralph! More Dre for LA for all!

Trevor McFur said...

I've always had this belief that everyone has one movie that everyone else on the planet has seen except for them. For example, I once met this girl who had never seen Star Wars (the original one) ... and it had become a point of pride for her; she didn't care how great Star Wars is, she was NEVER going to see that. For me, it's Top Gun ... I've never seen it, and when people find out, they're just like, "You've NEVER seen Top Gun? What the fuck?" But I don't care, and I kind of like the fact that never having seen Top Gun makes me a little different. Anyway, today I found out that I don't just have one movie, I have two: Top Gun and Office Space (I don't count Fight Club because I know a lot of people who've never seen it (and yes, I know the twist)). But eventually I will see Office Space. At the current rate that I'm going through my Netflix queue, it should be sometime around 2015.

A Trivial Pursuit movie? What, the rights to Parchisi weren't available?

The rumor I heard was that Ben said, and I quote, "I'm sick of having all of them keeping pulling me down to their level. I'm a star dammit! Chris Katan isn't forced to work with amaturs!" The legend then tells that Ralph stood Ben up to the eye and yelled, "You bail on them, you bail on me!" Supposedly Ben then began to weep and murmered, "You know I can't bail on you." Ralph looked Ben in the eye, extended his arms, and replied "Hug it out bitch". They then went on to make modern day podcast history.

I don't know if it's pin-point accurate. But I got pretty good sources. He was dead on with that whole Lindsey Lohan loves cocaine thing. And this was back in 1997!

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

"Jacob Loves You"... bit daft.

Sorry folks, I'm just this second back from a forum full of whining Americans (not you lovely people, obviously) complaining that the UK release for the boxset is shockingly a few weeks earlier than the US ones (and some of them thinking they're really clever suggesting the released box art must be a fake because it says "season" and not "series").

I'm pretty sure I kicked it into touch. Mostly the fact that the UK price will equate to about ninety dollars probably helped.

Maybe we need an interesting topic to get us going again. Any ideas, anyone?

I'm not very creative today

I got an interesting hypothetical. Some friends and myself were discussing this the other day. If you could record your dreams and watch them back on your tv, would you? They say that we are constantly dreaming all night long and that what we remember is just the last few seconds or so before we wake up. So if you were to watch your dreams in full, that means diving very deep into your subconscious. I myself have some pretty crazy dreams as it is. I'm not really sure if I'd want to know just exactly how crazy I am. lol. Although it would be pretty interesting. Thoughts? How affraid of your subconscious are you?

I rarely remember my dreams, and when I do, it's usually only after I've had a few too many. I'd definitely want to watch them if it was possible ... the only thing is, I sure wouldn't do it if there were other people in the room!

I think I would, Jordan. Because my dreams are so weird (the ones I actually remember), I think it would be interesting to see what else is going on there. It would also be intersting to see your reactions as you're having these dreams.

Because my iPod was dead, I was forced to do something I haven't done in many, many months- listen to the radio. The local morning dj's just got back from Fox where they were on Fox and Company and Hannity. They took Monster Pig sausage with them to give as gifts. Surely video will become available soon. I'll keep you posted.
I have a confession. I've never seen Seven Samurai, A Clockwork Orange, or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I want so bad to see these. For the third time on the blogspot, I need ntflix.
I don't feel intimidated by my subconscious at all.

I highly recommend Netflix, Steph. I've been a proud member since 2003. It's become such a big part of my life, that I don't know if I could do without it. I have not seen any of those movies you listed, either. For as many movies as I've seen, I haven't really seen enough.

I love netflix. I've been a member since 2000. I've actually never seen Clockwork Orange, but I have seen Cuckoo's Nest. I rented The Seven Samauri, but turned it off after a half hour because I thought that it was boring. Yeah, I know, I should probably be ashamed of myself.

So that big pig turned out to be farm-raised? Some sport. Not quite on the same level as Locke taking out that hog with his knife.

Johnny Ghostwatch said...

I knew I should have posted a few hours ago when I first knew.

My iTunes has decided not to work after recent update.

I believe the phrase is "bollocks".

Now I look really stupid.

PalmerEldritch said...

Got one coming off the Pipe of Amazement. Just says "Ep 22".

Let us see what happens. I was terrified for a second that it was some kind of bonus podcast from the OTHER The Lost Initiative.

CURSE YOU, IAIN LEE!!

Shockingly, I'm downloading TLI. I afarid it's too good to be true.
Citizen Kane would be the first to be queued.

Yay! TLI!I would love to watch my dreams. The few I remember have me doing some really messed up things. The fact that I don't remember them too well allows me to dimiss them. What's with all the people with inside info? We got people watching Ben and Ralph through their the window, and British Johnnys spying on the TLI girls. Weird stuff. One question as I am a rather new listener. I know Ben and Ralph have a lot of inside jokes. But I don't get the one about Ralph pretending that he's married to Stevie Nicks. Is this a running gag?

PalmerEldritch said...

where's the new thread? will they let us hit 200?

and i thought of something to discuss on the blogspot, forgot it, remembered it at lunch, and then forget it on the car ride back to work. oops.

[ally] said...

I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl, just waiting on TLI to download.

*impatiently waiting...*

PalmerEldritch said...

wally, ralph's real life wife is named Stevi (Stevie?). but she's not Stevi Nicks. or Lindsay Buckingham. not even Mick Fleetwood.

Benjamin said...

No, she's just regular Stevi. But I believe the story goes that she was indeed named after Miss Nicks.

Oh! I got you. Sometimes you guys and your dry humor are a bit hard for me to figure out when you are joking or not. one question, when do you guys get all the time for this stuff? Isn't it hard to get the shows done with normal jobs and all? I'm impressed.
