Put on your high-tech tuxedos and hold onto your squiggly-squiggly legs as we open up the SaS vault during our long winter hiatus for a look back at Craig & Dylan's first podcast of 2006. Oh yeah, touch that orb, baby.

Nice to reminisce. Remember when we thought 5 weeks was a long hiatus?

Brilliant.

Steph, had something funny to say in reply to your comment, but i forgot. Mainly because there was a fucking tornado in london! What the hell is that about?

aimee is lost said...

No problem folks, glad to help pass the time. It's always fun to go back and listen to old episodes. Kimberley is going to hook us up later with the original episode (something I've never even heard!)

Yeah Tim, I heard London had a tornado, what the heck is up with that?? I'm glad you don't live in the city! I need to look up Belgium on a map; I know it's not an island, so I'd at least think it would have a greater chance of tornados than the UK. Strange..

Oxfordish - about an hour's drive away. It was pretty mad windy last night, trees and shit getting blown about. There was a pretty mad lightning storm aswell, which is weird because it's cold, didn't think you could get lightning when it's cold?!

YEAH...love it. Hearing that episode was awesome. Thank you Aimee...thank you Craig & Dylan...

Man I miss hearing these all the time. Craig, Ryan, Dylan...Ben and Ralph...Kim. Hey guys, can we have a Christmas/Hanukkah Holiday special episode soon. I know Ralph and Ben already recorded one at the beginning of September, but hey we could always have more.

Man...I am the master of the elipsis(...). I use it everywhere.

Yay for classiSaS!

Thanks Aimee : )

squiggly squiggly legs- that has to be the funniest thing I've ever heard.

A tornado in Europe? That's weather we should be having here, instead of -8 degree wind chills. This weather is crazy.

BSG tonight, anyone?
Last weeks was awesome, even though I have no idea what's going on. I'm new. Looking for the DVDs. It's so popular I can't find them anywhere.

Anonymous said...

Hey, you're right Wesh!

Weather here in Canada is weird too-the typically west coast is getting all the freak weather, while just at the end of November, we were up at 17C. Strange times...

Not too mention the very minor earthquake that hit Hong Kong-hello-we're not even on a fault, so why on earth would we actually get tremors? Typhoons are enough, thanks.

aimee is lost said...

Steph, this is how lame I am. I wasn't sure what show you were talking about (which gives away the fact that I obviously don't watch it), so I went to Google, and typed in "BSG".

Battlestar Galactica is what it told me. I could've pretended to know, but my lameness of using the old Google-crutch was way funnier.

Google rules.

Finally, something worth listening to on this feed! I still have that flame retardant tuxedo. The rental shop will never find me here.

Wow, I sound like I didn't even wake up until halfway through the show. I forgot all about the genius theory. Did anyone ever read that? Scott is a fine specimen of a man.

I find it interesting that I identified the singer in that Snickers commercial as Craig Sanger. I don't know why I would have. It reminds me of a thing I did in the old days of the podcast before we had identified ourselves by anything other than Scott and Steve. I used ot insert our real names randomnly in the discussion.

I should also note that Brisco County Jr. is available on DVD now, and it's really good. Carlton even has a cameo in two of the episodes as a scenery painter. The cast also features Pickett and Dr. Marvin Candle and I think some "others" who have appeared on Lost. The orb was not, as I had thought, a continuity switch. It did save Brisco from death as you hear in that scene, and eventually it's revealed that one of the main characters used the orb to travel from the 26th century, but it's all in continuity. Actually, the orb is a similar figure as the monster. In a commentary track Carlton even says that the orb is "faith." I highly recommend the show.

Bang, bang, ice you dead.

Scott and Steve said...

Oh and Wesh, you may find this interesting. Armed Forces Network doesn't air commercials, but they have to fill the breaks. They play a lot of public service announcements and messages from "celebrities" wishing our troops well. Another thing they do is run little thirty second informational spots. One category of these is facts about other countries. For the one on Belgium they mention the french fries thing, but the voiceover says, "This country CLAIMS to have invented french fries." And he really draws out the word claims like he's rolling his eyes at the utter bullshit of it. Is there even a controversy to that? I always just assumed it was a misnomer on account of some Belgians speak French. At any rate I thought it was funny. I hope you do too.

Stephanie said...

Aimee, here's my google confession. I had to look up how to spell "reminisce". I wasn't even close.

BSG was ok tonight. I have tons of questions. Somebody, please, clue me in.

Just in case you were wondering.

I'm also a little drunk.

I always thought that the Belgians invented chips (the proper name), and that the French were just laughing behind America's reason to say 'Freedom Fries' saying 'you losers, we didn't even invent them!'

So...that's my impression of what happened.

Anyway...

Mike Campbell said...

well there freedom fries now. Cause i love freedom and freedom fries taste like freedom so freedom has a good taste.

Sorry i am beyond hung over.

Gotta love Saturday mornings Mikey - out tonight? i'm sure as hell gonna rock it up good!

Tim - right now the last thing i want to do is drink again, but i am sure i will be. *Feel happy for me whore alert* its my last weekend as a college student. I graduate on Thursday, so this weekend needs to be legendary. We also need to 360 it up sometime!

(sorry aimee i stole your "Internet whore alert" from awhile ago. But i didn't use it as good as you used to)

Anonymous said...

enjoyed the blast from the past. i don't think i ever heard any MYOKMw/SAS episodes prior to March of last year. So keep them coming!

bit of Lost dorkness. i was watching one of my favorite movies today, "Jacob's Ladder" and i thought the fortune teller at the party might have been Ms. Klue. I IMDB'd it and they were not the same person. Ms. Klue was the lady that interviews Tom Cruise in "Magnolia" though.

I wondered if our original blog hosts even read their own blog anymore. We already know they have other people posting shit for them (what suckers Ralph and I have become), but to make a long story short, it's good to see Dylan around again!

Mike, I didn't invent the "internet whore alert", so I don't want to take credit for it. I think it might have been Ralph, but I really don't remember! I just used that anytime I'd finished another Lost book and wanted to tell people that I updated my blog.

Oh and Mike, I was at Best Buy today and saw some guys playing that Guitar Hero thingie. I figured out how to play it by watching them (but was too chicken to try it myself) so I kept telling them to play another one. It was just cool. Anyway, I kind of want one now.

When I was in Uzbekistan, the chow tent always had french fries, only the tray had a label that actually said "Freedom Fries". This was the U.S. military's subtle yet official way of stickin' to the French I suppose. I wonder if they're still doing that. Dylan, you'll have to let me know if your chow hall in Japan does this.

Anonymous said...

Yeah Mike, we have got to get it on, 360 stylee. Drunk again though.
My missus is wearing a japanese kimono thingie and Ugg boots, i have a pizza in the oven and it's 5 to 2 in the am, so i'm off.
And to top it off my ears are ringing from singing 'think we're alone now' by Tiffany at her Christmas party!

Anonymous said...

Not tiffany's xmas party - the missus'

Scott and Steve said...

The chow hall here serves curly fries, and that's how they are labeled. The galleys at Great Lakes and Corry Station always labeled them french fries.

Here's a funny story. I was hanging out with some friends in Tulsa once. One of them wanted to have lunch at a diner called Brownies. This place was featured on Fox News or something once because they jumped on the pathetic Freedom Fries bandwagon quickly and proudly. My other friend who didn't want to go to this place but agreed to anyway informed me of this on the drive over there. I decided that I was going to be obnoxiuos and order "French" fries. I had planned on saying "French" fries about a hundred times loudly. "I'll have some FRENCH fries, please." "Thank you for the FRENCH fries." "These FRENCH fries are delicious." Etc.

Well apparently in addition to being sycophants, the proprietors of Brownies are also psychic. We sat there for fifteen minutes, and no one ever served us. I tried flagging down one of the many waitresses in the restaurant, and they just ignored us. It was like an Amish shunning. The place wasn't even busy. I left there having never tasted the delicious freedom they were serving. But I did learn the true meaning of Christmas or something.

The most childish, and racist i know is based on the Romans. I'm going to tell it, but remember i'm English (or British or whatever) and our sense of humour is caustic and ill advised at times: Why did the Romans build straight roads? So the Pakistanis couldn't build corner shops.
This only works if your country has many, many corner shops run by Pakistanis, obviously. Maybe the same applies to Americans and Mexicans, respectively.
I'll shut up now.

Anonymous said...

The most childish, racist joke is what i meant.

Scott and Steve said...

Wouldn't it make more sense if the Romans built curvy roads? Curvy roads wouldn't have corners; straight roads do.

Stephanie said...

Can you really say that in England, jellyman? We can't say that here, it's not politically correct. So, let me get this straight, in England you don't have to worry about offending, just blame it on your British humour?

Stephanie said...

Aimee, you need to see Wesh. He looks nothing like his avatar.

Stephanie said...

Aimee, you really should see a pic of Wesh. He looks nothing like his avatar.

Stephanie said...

Aimee, you really should see a pic of Wesh. He looks nothing like his avatar.

Stephanie said...

Yeah, Wesh, you're so cute I had to say it three times.

Why can't I delete this shit?

Anonymous said...

I get your point on curvy roads. But it's easier to build straight roads, surely. Don't neccessarily have to be intersected. I'm talking shit now, so hmmm.

Steph, the one good/bad thing is that in the UK, people can be politically incorrect and get no more than a bit of a slapped wrist. We are complete bastards when it comes to tragedies as well. Remember the space shuttle that blew up about 20 years ago? Discovery or something. My brother was 7, and told this joke to the family who thought it was brilliant: What does NASA stand for? Need Another Seven Astronauts. That is the level of comedy the everyday person comes out with.
It's quite difficult for British people to distinguish between xenophobia and racism as well, my Grandad (RIP) said, "i'm not a racist, but i can't stand the Europeans."

aimee is lost said...

I live in the South (just like Steph does) so Tim, there are places where racism is truly alive here in the U.S. (The first words out of my real estate agents mouth when we got into one neighborhood: "Yeah, there aren't too many blacks living here.") So it exists, but it's just not considered acceptable to normal people. We still make racist jokes though, A LOT (just watch Dave Chapelle). Some people just don't have a sense of humor about it. It's okay for people like Dave Chapelle though, because he makes fun of everyone.

Wesh, they weren't nightmares. It (which was probably a representation of you I assume) was just sort of floating/following us around in the dream. So it's all good. I have no problem believing that's what you look like, but where is a real photo of you..MySpace? Hit me up Wesh!

aimee is lost said...

And when I said "we", I meant "we" as a nation, not including myself.

aimee is lost said...

That dream was at least six months ago! But now with all these floating images, I'm sure it'll pop up again soon.

Stephanie said...

google confession- xenophobia

Stephanie said...

jellyman, your grandad's quote resembles a quote my husband often sites when talking about his deceased grandfather.
I hate the fact the south has such a rep for being racist when Chicago and other northern cities had just as much trouble as B'ham did. This city has come a long way. I can't remember a time when we didn't have a black mayor. And our police chief is a black female. However, it seems the hispanics have replaced African-Americans as the butt of jokes around here. Xenophobes. I guess they don't realize that we Americans are all decendents of immigrants unless you're full-blooded Indian.
Aimee, keep an eye out for "Wesh in a cave".

Aimee is the best for putting up the episode. Craig and Dylan rock as usual in a great old episode. Still waiting anxiously for new Craig, Ryan, and maybe Dylan hillarity on a new podcast. That day can't come early enough. Ralph and Ben...your Dhamalar humor is sorely missed in this hiatus time. You did say you recorded one Sunday right?

And T-Dot Kim...thanks for your recent episodes, superbly done. Plus, are you going to give into the peer pressure and post the original MYOKOMwSAS. I hope so.

Just wanted you all to know your podcasts are missed. Keep up the good work everybody. Woohoo.

shit fell through this past weekend, but i am pleased to let you folks know that ben ryan and i will be recording "I Do" tomorrow night, and the episode will be up, with an all new segment from Jimmy, at 10:30pm PST!

thanks for all your patience folks, i hopw you realize that this is a show that can only be done with the little spare time that we can afford. i only wish that we could do the show more often, but it is something that takes time to produce. we love doing it, and hope that tomorrow's show is the best episode of the dharmalars ever.

we are back!

Sweet...sounds good Ralph.
I just dread the day that any of you say that you've given up and can't do it anymore. We'll wait as long as we have to...but you should also know we are looking forward to it. It's always good to feel appreciated...so here's letting you know you are. Love the show.

Hey...been rewatching Heroes reruns of the first 11 eps from this new show. Like it a lot, but still not quite lost. Like Daybreak and Battlestar also, but they aren't quite lost either.

Mike Campbell said...

I've been watching the West Wing for some reason. Locke's Dad was on a few episodes ago. He played a Governor that they were afriad that would run for president because he was "Too Healthy"

Don't really understand why i am watching it. :)

aimee is lost said...

I'm glad to know we'll be hearing from the 'Lars soon; it's like an early Christmas present! It's also nice that Jimmy will have a segment too. I wondered what would happen with him since there aren't any new episodes to analyze music from.

I'm going to make use of my lunch breaks to watch the episodes of Heroes that I missed (Episode 1-7) so when it returns I'll be caught up. Wow, I'm having Lost deja vu (This is exactly how I started watching Lost.)

aimee is lost said...

SadAce, I'm happy to post an old episode anytime someone feels the need for one.

During this long hiatus (from Lost and the SaS), the only option we really have is to live in the past (by watching old episodes of Lost and listening to old episodes of SaS).

Thankfully we have the Dharmalars and Kimberley, because man cannot live on reruns alone.

Stephanie said...

I watched Superman Returns and was pleasantly surprised. I keep reading that we're supposedly getting tired of all this CG stuff, but I really liked it. Hated Kate Bosworth though.

aimee is lost said...

Kate Bosworth has never done it for me. Rachel McAdams would've made a better Lois Lane. Maybe Kate Bosworth will die of anorexia and they'll have to replace her for the next one.

Anonymous said...

Never watched West Wing. Kate Bosworth was really cute in Blue Crush...then she dropped so much weight, and is now kind of scary. I can't say I really liked her in Superman Returns.
I really like Rachel McAdams, and agree she would have been better. She was good in Red Eye.

Heres a odd question...
Where do you all listen to all your Lost podcasts? I listen to them while at my computer at work and with my wireless headphones while washing dishes at home (no I don't have a dishwasher). Kind of funny, I now can't wash dishes without a podcast to listen to.

- SadAce

aimee is lost said...

I mostly listen to podcasts while I'm driving my car, because I commute into the city, and a one-way commute is about the length of one podcast episode.

I cannot conduct any form of housecleaning without my iPod blasting some podcasts, and I also listen to them at work (I unplug my computer speaker and plug it into my iPod) If I want to ignore people who walk into my office, I use the headphones though.

Stephanie said...

I listen driving to work, on the treadmill, cleaning house, in Walmart, or anywhere I don't want to be bothered by people.

Was Rachel McAdams up for Lois Lane? I like her better.
I heard a rumor that the director wanted Evie for the role. I'm sure that's not true.

You know we are supposed to assume Claire is Jack's half sister? What if Juliet is actually Christian's daughter?

Stephanie said...

Kate Bosworth was cute in Win a Date With Tad Hamilton.

Anonymous said...

I tend to listen to podcasts while I'm at the gym, cooking, commuting to and from school, while cleaning, and sometimes, in bed before I go to sleep.

Stephanie said...

Here's another question. What other podcasts do you listen to?

aimee is lost said...

I think it's a weak assumption. There is more than one female in Sydney, and since we have no idea if Christian was attempting to see his "baby" daughter, "teenage" daughter, or "grown up" daughter, there's no way we'll find out without another a) flashback featuring Christian, or b) Claire-centric episode (hello...3x12!)

So behhhh, I don't really like it as a theory at this point because it's really really weak. With that being the case, it'll probably turn out to be true.

Steph, I totally forgot, I don't walk into a Wal-Mart without my iPod hanging from my hip!

Mike Campbell said...

Whenever i am walking around campus somewhere i am listening to my iPod i mostly listen to podcasts. While driving i listen to it too.

Foxy said there was something coming around the 12th episode that blew his mind. So that could be it.

Graduation is in 2 days!!! bye bye college, more time to post on the board :)

Woohoo, congrats Mike!! Welcome to the real world! It sucks!

Mike Campbell said...

Lets calm it down a bit aimee - i still have a chance to fail. I need to get a 50 points out of a 100 in one class. :) But thanks a lot.

in this weeks Entertainment Weekly they have "What if Lost Writers wrote The Office" It was in the TV section of the Mag. I couldn't find it online but it was pritty funny. They also had "If the Office wrote Lost" Should pick up the issue or wait a few minutes and Aimee will find it online :)

I have no problem listening to them at work. My job involves a lot of time sitting in front of my computer so I listen to them in Itunes with headphones on. Most people in my room are working with headphones on listening to whatever. It passes the time well working with a podcast going at the same time, especially when I happen to have to be doing a repetitive task.

With most of all the podcasts out there slowing down for the hiatus, I'm finding it hard to do the dishes and doing any repetitive stuff at work without the new podcasts all the time.

- SadAce

Anonymous said...

I listen to my iPod all the time, literally. At work, in the car, when Hannah's moaning at me for not taking the rubbish out, doing the dishes, etc.
If i'm listening to a podcast though, invariably, i have to be doing something not requiring the use of my brain, or simply nothing at all, because i have to listen properly in case i miss something!

Oh, and by the way, listened to the Sky One's Lost Initiative - it's not tto bad - mentioned a few things i hadn't spotted, so it's not all bad. Iain Lee is still a bit of a twat, you'll be glad to know.
