LOST gets shafted at the Emmy Nominations

LOST received zero nominations in the major catagories. The only actor recognized, Henry Ian Cusick, was nominated in the catagory of Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series for his role as Desmond.

Well thank God Henry Ian Cusick is mentioned. Yes, shafted is the word, I feel. I have to say, I loved his performance.

So if he gets "Guest Actor"...does that mean that he isn't going to be a regular...or wasn't a regular "at that time"? Especially with the whole business of Penny going searching for him.

Or maybe it will go the way of "The New Sheriff". Hmmm

Nice to have Lost content on the board :)

Primetime Emmy Awards? Is there a non-primetime Emmy Awards for shows like Tool Time?

Scott and Steve said...

There's a Day-Time Emmy Award show for Soap Operas, game shows, and talk shows.

i wouldn't mind seeing a couple of Barker's Beauties getting shafted at the day-time emmys.

Wow, you americans love all that award ceremony shit, don't you!? We just have the BAFTAs. But i suppose we have the Comedy Awards as well. But most of the general public don't give a toss. Ricky Gervais seems to win most of the damn things anyway.

Jimmy said...

Yes Laura, I think you are right with that one. I would like to see Des as a regular, personally.

Jellyman...I miss the BAFTA's. The show has class and a subdued feel. Even if Steven Fry is a complete wanker!

Piers Morgan, the guy on AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, who is he? What's his deal?

Anonymous said...

Ok, Jimmy, Stevn Fry is a misunderstood genius, are you telling me Melchet from Blackadder Goes Forth, etc doesn't make you laugh?!

Craig (or Ryan), Piers Morgan is an absolute twat. He used to be Editor for the News of the World newspaper (although i wouldn't wipe my arse with it) over here in the UK. He was disgracefully sacked from there for publishing photographs of a countess leaving some detox clinic.

He then worked as editor for the Daily Mirror paper (another piece of shit tabloid). But was sacked for publishing fake photographs of British soldiers absusing Iraqis.

He's basically a low life who regularly gets punches thrown at him or spat at. A proper c**t.

That pretty much sucks, but its good to see a fellow Scot getting nominated, go on Henry!!!

Ralph, I am convinced that if you play your cards right at the big convention this summer, you may be able to make sweet, sweet love to CC.

Never heard of it, but what a great pun!

Ten movies I like:

A Clockwork Orange, Repo Man, Taxi Driver, Dr. No, Speed, Delicatessan, Bonnie and Clyde, Casablanca, This is Spinal Tap, Quadrophenia.

Put them in whatever order you like.

Hi MYOKOM w/SaSsers, I made it back from Las Vegas and still have money in my pocket!

I went to the Comedy Stop at the Tropicana and saw some funny comedians, and the bonus was that it was hosted by J.J. "DY-NO-MITE!" Walker. He was funny, in a washed-up, aging comedian kind of way. I wish I could remember this one guy's name; he was so funny and totally reminded me of Dane Cook.

I was so happy to get back home to find out from Jimmy that there was a new SaS episode. I'm going to listen to it as soon as I finish my coffee.

Dylan, I love Delicatessen also, it's one of the most obscure movies in my collection; along with City of Lost Children.

Just got back from Boston and seeing Dave Matthews Band at Fenway Park. These two shows were my 10th and 11th time seeing them live, and they were two of the best shows i have seen. The best part was that they did a cover of "Sweet Caroline" which is a very popular song at Fenway cause they play it at every game.

I saw an interview on "Attack of the Show" about Perplex City. Its another ARG, like the Lost Experience. I hear its pritty fun and they have had a few real world events take place.

Welcome back Aimee

Jelly i am going to see Ray with guster at the end of august i am so excited.

Thanks Mike, it's actually nice to be home.

That sucks that Lost got shafted on the Emmys, but I thought the Desmond nod was well deserved. I'm surprised to hear that Adewale Akfjs;kf Amnreiubadadk didn't receive any recognition because in my mind he saved what seemed like a weak or at least choppy season 2 experience. Desmond kind of did the same thing, but he only appeared in the beginning and end of the season.

I was happy to see that The 23rd Psalm got a nomination for best writing because that was one of my favorite season 2 episodes, and the most impressive of the flashback stories.

I'm sorry to hear about the severe drop in listeners, but I think a lot of that has to do with both the offseason, and the name change. Everyone who had previously subscribed to "Get Lost with Scott and Steve" aren't getting the automatic downloads anymore, now that its under a new title. Unless they visit the blog, I don't know how else they would know about it.

I saw Pirates of the Caribbean on Friday, and was quite disappointed. They could have at least warned us about how they were going to set it all up, but instead I just sat through 2.5 hours with no payoff.

Mike Campbell said...

Really aimee, I loved every moment of Pirates. I liked it just as much as the first one. I thought they did a great job recreating the same mood of the first film. I also thought the special effect were amazing.

Mike,

It was still entertaining, and fun to watch, but no where near as good as the first one.

If I would have gone in KNOWING that was how they were going to do, I probably would’ve enjoyed it more. I knew there would be a third one next year, but I didn’t know that they were connected to each other. I was expecting a normal movie like the first one, where stuff happens, and everything’s wrapped up in the end. This was like they took one big movie (film #2 & #3), and cut it right down the middle.

Mike Campbell said...

Yeah i see your point. Half-way i started to think that they might pull some trickery like that. I wish it was only 6 months apart like the Matrix movies, instead of having to wait a year.

aimee is lost said...

Even with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, we had to wait a year for each installment, but at least each story had SOME closure, all of which built up to a grand finale.

Mike,

You lucky, lucky bastard, as Michael Palin once said!

LOST, shafted?! I thought they'd at least be nominated...they won the whole sha-bang last year? What about Michael Emerson playing "Henry Gale"? He was f*%king awesome throughout the season. I just loved to hate his character. Adewale as Eko, I adore his character too!

Aimee...
I liked Pirates II. It was a little too long, but it didn't feel like it was long as Superman. Both are pretty much the same length, but Superman felt like it was 5 hours!

Jelly...
I agree Piers Morgan is a twat. I lived in London for a year and saw him at a restaurant and he thought he was a living legend. I had no idea who he was, and completely forgot about him until I saw this stupid "America's Got Talent" on TV. I miss London. *sigh*

I agree they got F-ed over. I love Grey's Anatomy. But Lost's acting is waaaaay better, and more intense. It's a lot easier to play a doctor, than it is to play someone running the in the woods running from a monster. Michael Emerson should have gotten a nomination. How many of us just think Fenry was so creepy, and played the character so wonderfully.
