It makes me sad when Dignan punches Anthony with the screwdriver, too.

Ralph- said...

it is pretty rough, but i agree with ben, that it isnt as rough as Richie in Tennenbaums.

while watching Life Aquatic for the first time, i sat there and thought about how in each Wes Anderson film, he amps up the sad moment. and was really dreading what he was going to bring us. than it happened, and it tore me apart.

i put up a more accurate list at the dharmalars blog.

:) What a CLASSIC quote at the end, Ben.

Benjamin said...

Not only classic, but quite classy as well, right? Sophisticated, you know?

aimee is lost said...

I wish you could upload an mp3 version so I could listen to it at work! Now I have to wait until I get home...

Ralph- said...

sorry aimee, i promise that i will figure out the issue with the mp4 by the time we get the next episode up.

aimee is lost said...

Psshh, don't change it on account of my impatient ass. I'm just happy I get to listen to it at all.

Did anyone catch the teaser trailer for TRANSFORMERS (coming in 2007) during Pirates of the Caribbean??

Any child of the 80s (such as myself) has to be looking forward to revisiting the past, and seeing the Autobots & Decepticons in action.

It's directed by none other than Michael Bay, Jerry Bruckheimer's blockbuster handpuppet, so rest assured we will see plenty of slow motion running with explosions in the background!!!

Ralph- said...

YES!
you are probably the first person i know, that understands the potential greatness of this film!

i can't wait!!!

Coogan sells hit shows to US TV

Coogan's latest series, Saxondale, could be part of the deal.
Comedian Steve Coogan's production company, Baby Cow, has been signed up to make comedy programmes for the US television network NBC.
Under the deal, shows such as Saxondale and The Mighty Boosh could be remade for US audiences.

Ralph- said...

i have no idea what you just said. but your enthusiasm has peaked my interests. i will look all of this up, and catch up with the times.

Mike Campbell said...

I didn't like "Lost in Translation" either. I thought it was ok, but nothing special.

And whats the deal with Scarlett Johansson. I do not think she is beautiful at all. There must be something wrong with my brain cause everyone else does.

Anonymous said...

what about take 5?!

Benjamin said...

Oh man, Take 5! I can't believe I forgot those. Good call. As for Mike, I won't go so far as to say that your brain is busted because you don't see what I see in Scarlett Johansson. Different strokes for different folks, man.

Ralph- said...

take 5 is good, but i still concider it a fad or a limited edition candy. if it is around in 5 years, i will put it on my top 10.

Ralph- said...

*FOR THE RECORD*
Catherine Bell- 9 years older!
Kate Blanchett- 8 years older.
Eva Mendez- 3 years older.
Liv- 5 month younger.
Angela Lindvall- 2 years younger.
Ziyi Zhang- 2 years younger.
Rosario-2 years younger.
Eva Green- 3 years younger.
Bryce- 4 years younger.
Jessica Biel- 5 years younger.

deal with it Mr. Moore.

Ralph- said...

and the "Belluc" is 12 years older than ben. I WIN!

aimee is lost said...

I like the explosive, cheesy, and ultradramatic direction of Michael Bay. That's part of the fun with blockbuster movies, they're like brain candy.

Sometimes movies are just about entertainment, not winning nobel prizes.

Mike Campbell said...

I might be going out on a limb here but i am going to Red Card Rosario Dawson. I hate her. She sucks at acting and she is ruining all my favorite things. Rent is my favorite Musical and she destroyed the role of Mimi. I love all Kevin Smith films and he put her in Clerks 2. She is going to be in Grind House and ruin that too.
I don't know what it is but every time i see her i want to kick her in the teeth, and thats bad cause you have to treat the ladies nice.

Mike Campbell said...

Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer need to team up for Bad Boys 3D. Everyone here knows its true. Bad Boys 2 was a great blow them up no holds bard movie. I loved every second. Any movie where people go into cuba and start an International Incident, and the next scene they are relaxing in a pool is OK by me :)

I want to see bullets and limbs flying out of the screen at me. I want to see Will Smith get up in my face all bad because there are drugs in Miami.

aimee is lost said...

I still haven't seen Rent, even though I've wanted to since I was in high school, when the broadway show first came out. I don't really know how I feel about Rosario Dawson. I liked Sin City for various reasons, but I don't think it was because of her.

I'm completely stupid when it comes to soccer related things, so I honestly didn't know what the actual "red card" definition & use meant until today when I read about it in Harry Potter (from the Lost Library.)

My current understanding of it is completely dependent on JK Rowling being correct in describing it, because I'm too lazy to Google it to know for certain.

(By the way, I have 7 out of the 34 Lost books left to finish.)

Mike Campbell said...

Aimee thats amazing. I haven't touched Watership in a few weeks. I'm an english major and for once i don't want to read, i want to veg out with the computer and video games. :)

aimee is lost said...

I went on vacation and didn't read a single word! Finishing Julius Caesar was horrible because I don't care for Shakespeare, and since I happened to buy a copy that wasn't just the play, but about 100 pages of literary analysis, I forced myself to read the whole thing so I wouldn't consider myself a cheater.

I wish I was an English major, that would've been so much fun! I miss Watership Down, but Harry Potter's actually not that bad. I might even read the other Harry Potter books after I'm done with the Lost library. I'm only SIX more books away from Our Mutual Friend, which I'm very excited to get to. I only hope it's not the last book I ever read.

A little heads up on Saxondale: 1st episode is very good, second: not so much, third one, genius!

aimee is lost said...

I need the help of any willing and able internet nerds who like a challenge.

I need to find a copy of the first Captain America issue, either a reprint or an online version. The technical title should be: Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941) by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.

If anyone finds it, please email a link to aimeenoto@aol.com

Thanks!

Mike Campbell said...

Aimee - I love the Harry Potter books, they only get better after the first one. The 4th 5th and 6th are so far beyond what the first started its crazy. You should read the rest of them!

Jimmy said...

I haven't heard this cast yet as I had a murderous day at work (Aimee...mail is in my "draft" folder and sat there all day).

But Ralph, my man! I think your list is pretty much the same as mine. Great taste, though I have to say, I think I am older than all of them, save "the Belluc", who is 2 years older.

And on related notes, Cate Blanchett, who is on my list at around #3, is born on the exact day of my younger brother...same year.

I'm off for a pint and a cig...I'm fucked!

aimee is lost said...

My iPod was totally f'ed up, so I just had to wipe it clean and reload everything; I still haven't listened to Dharmalars #2. I need a bigger one (Michael Scott: "That's what she said") but I the one I have has my name engraved on it, so there's no hope of selling it on eBay.

I started reading Peter Wright's "Hindsight", which I'm happy to say looks like it has some definite resemblances to Lost content. If you read the back cover you'll see exactly what I mean.

Jimmy you'd better run back to work and send it off!!

Ralph- said...

Thank you Jimmy.
Blanchett is awesome!

Harry Potter/Lost-related philosophical question:

http://lostarchive.blogspot.com/

Mike Campbell said...

Street Wars sounds fun

aimee is lost said...

Let's start a cross country street war. Or maybe we could just randomly pick citizens and attack them with water guns. I don't know, either way sounds fun.

aimee is lost said...

I'm listening to some more classic MYOKOM w/SAS episodes today, and just finished the "Peabody Award winning episode".

I was laughing my ass off in my office at the final moments where Craig & Dylan were trying to say "Spoiler..or foiler?" but Craig couldn't seem to do it. And of course equally hilarious was the first audio appearance of Satan on this episode.

Ryan A., you need to fight more with Craig. I think the old married couple thing worked really well for C & D.

aimee is lost said...

These classic episodes are so entertaining. It's really fun to hear what all of our nonsense (and somewhat credible) theories were back when we didn't know any better.

I think it would be really fun, if Craig & Ryan A. wanted to do a Lost-related podcast again, to use this offseason time and review all of the bullshit theories and stuff, and make a podcast clip-show, just so we could make fun of ourselves and eachother.

Anonymous said...

Man, i am getting it on at Street Wars! My game pack is on its way!
Shall i see if i can videotape any of it? or at least record the sound of me knocking on someone's door and then running away after i've launched a water balloon at them?!

aimee is lost said...

Yes, Tim! Send pics & videos of whatever you do!

Mike Campbell said...

darn right get video and pictures!!!

Some friends and i held a huge water balloon fight a few years ago. It took us about 12 hours to fill up 500 balloons. But when we got to the place the war was going to be held at, it started to rain. God won that war.

aimee is lost said...

Mike, what are you doing playing video games when you could be reading Watership Down?

This book “Hindsight” by Peter Wright has some DEFINITE Lost vibes.

A scientific project is created to build a "time machine" that can see into the past, and it's funded by the "International Foundation for the Advancement of Science" (a.k.a. Dharma Initiative/Hanso Foundation), but it’s really being funded by the Foundation's parent company; a multi-national corporation called Dachowski International Electronics Corporation (Hanso Foundation/Widmore Corporation), headed by Greg Dachowski (aka Charles Widmore/Alvar Hanso). Dachowski is trying to prove that religion is false by looking into the past).

What none of them realize is that the project and its members are being hunted by a religious organization...called Opus Dei.

It's like a cross between the movies Paycheck and The Da Vinci Code, it's actually pretty cool.

Mike Campbell said...

i am sorry aimee i am playing a lot of video games. but that book sounds sweet. good job on keeping on task!

aimee is lost said...

Thanks Mike, it's getting kind of humorous now. The Opus Dei folks are getting foiled by the machine itself (which actually works now).

They planted a bomb on the truck that carries the machine, and knocked out one of the scientists. When she came to, they fired up the machine to look back in time, and see what they were doing, and found the bomb before it detonated.

Those poor Opus Dei guys can't catch a break. They need to hire a crazy Albino to straight out whack some scientists!

Mike Campbell said...

ah where would we be without crazy Albino's. I don't want to know :)

Has anyone seen the show "How i met your Mother" I just watched the whole first season and i liked it a lot. It has Jason Segal from Freaks and Geeks and it has Neil Patrick Harris. The only problem is Alison Hanigan. Other then that the hsow is really funny. Check it out if you have free time.

Hollerin said...

I like that show 'How I met your mother' but I think I missed a few episodes. My summertime Wednesday night drama is Project Runway. The third season just started and with lines like 'Where the hell is my chiffon!' - how could you go wrong?!

Benjamin said...

Dude, Project Runway is the bomb. I was so happy to see that show return. Full of Heidi, Tim Gunn, Michael Kors and even Nina Garcia. Bring it!

Did anyone watch the first two parts of Stephen King's Nightmares & Dreamscapes the other night?

The first segment w/ William Hurt was really cool, especially how it was done totally without dialogue (except for the occasional scream or grunt from Hurt), but the second story kinda stunk. That little commando creeps me out.

Ralph- said...

Mike Campbell said...

Welsh i don't think that was the picture. I think the picture they were talking about is him as the Robot. I think that will be cool if they don't show the robot form until the movie. Trailers today give too much away. I will admit that i am a whore for trailers, but sometimes when i see the movie i feel cheated because the trailer gave too much away.

Ralph- said...

yeah, but bay said that if he used that type of truck, prime would be 20 feet tall. with this new truck, prime will be 50 feet tall in robot form.

did you know that bumble bee is going to be a camero? i guess volkswagon does not want it's cars being affiliated with war. i have heard that bumble bee has not been a volkswagon bug since the '90s

i say bring it on. as long as there are robots disguised as cars, this will be a great movie. who cares if prime is a different looking truck? the truck is the boring part of prime. Its the Giant robot WAR that is going to be awesome!

Megatron is a Tank! sure he was a Gun when i was a kid, but you know what, they changed that in the '80s due to the fact that they stopped making realistic looking to guns.

OPTIMUS PRIME IN THE FLESH IS GOING TO BE AWESOME NO MATTER WHAT!

Ralph- said...

dont worry andy, i am sure if opimus prime is a robot that can turn into a truck, that he can also turn into a different truck.

i hope that optimus prime uses a car carrier, to haul the other auto bots around, and than have the auto bots fly off the back of the trailer like in bad boys 2

Aimee, I totally saw the first episode of Nightmares and Dreamscapes and I agree with you. It was pretty cool, and the dialogue-less thing was an interesting choice. I haven't had a chance to watch the second episode yet.

I used to love reading when I was a child, but as I got older I contiued to lose interest. In my teenage years I went through a phase where I read nothing but true crime, which turned into a phase where I only read non-fiction. I stopped reading all together once the internet was invented. I learned to despise reading once I entered college, and now that I've graduated I no longer resent it.

Once I got the idea to read the Lost library, I was just looking for a challenge since I didn't have school work to do anymore. As everyone now knows, I've turned into a complete bookworm, but I really like it because there's nothing more interesting in this world than everyone else's imaginations.

aimee is lost said...

Ralph, what kind of things did you have in mind to say to CC? Are you working together with anyone else that you're attending with?

Mike Campbell said...

Hope everyone had a good weekend and is excited for the week ahead. Comic-con is this weekend, can i can't wait to hear the reports from ralph and ben. And i am excited for that elusive second part of the podcast.
Take care

aimee is lost said...

Good luck Ralph & Ben!!

Since its not until the weekend, Ralph & Ben should post some info on what they plan to do. I know its going to be awesome no matter what, but it would be nice to discuss some Lost shit this week. Or any week. Or whatever.

I finished & started another book this weekend, despite my brain's best efforts to keep me down with headaches. I'm working on Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island, which is a long book, and sure to take me at least a week to finish.

For those unaware, it's about 5 men on a deserted island in the South Pacific, who land there on a hot air balloon, armed with nothing but the clothes on their back and an "anglo-norman" hound named Top. There is also an orangutan named "Jupe", for those into the Lost Experience.

Ralph- said...

here is a list of my comic con hopes!

1. meet Jorge Garcia.
2. meet Daniel Dae Kim.
3. get up the nerve to ask a question at 4. the LOST panel.
5. get a photo taken with Damon and Carltunt.
6. call the sas line, and give an update with jay, jack, jorge, and ben.
7. meet michael biehn after the grindhouse panel.

Ralph- said...

i was never good at speaking in public, i would read horribly out loud in grade school. sitting in my bedroom with ben and ryan, recording dharmalars is one thing. but getting up in front of 15 to 20,000 people in a room to ask Jorge Daniel and those douchebags and asking a question, makes me very aprehensive. Now, i know that Jack from the lost podcast is going to try to get up the nerve to ask a question. i think if we go up together, it would be easier. i really am not sure what to ask. i would like to make it podcast related, that way they would be able to answer it, and not skirt the issue.

aimee is lost said...

I agree with your choice of question theme; you know there's going to be some jackass who asks questions that everyone knows they can't answer like "How will it all end?"

There there will be the other really stupid people who are stuck in the world of debunked theories, and will ask questions like "Are they really in purgatory?"

And just remember Ralph, if you feel nervous, just remind yourself that we have CC's phone number and we can harass him for messing with you. By the way Craig, what's the deal with the phone number? Is someone going to call? I'll volunteer to do it!

aimee is lost said...

Oh, and about the crowd; just picture them all in their underwear!

Ralph- said...

aimee, the people that attend the comic con, are not really the type of people you want to imagine naked. as a representitive of the myokom family, i feel that i have a responsibility to ask a question, and must get over the phobia.

i am looking for dvd covers to get signed while in san diego, and i was looking up daniel dae kim on imdb, and i saw tht he was in an episode of party of five with matthew fox, playing a character named ethan! da da daaaaaaaaaaa!

Mike Campbell said...

Ralph - No Worries, The people that will be at that pannel are nothing to impress, think of it that way. They are just like us. Reading the boards, listening to podcasts. But you have a flippin Podcast, and who cares where you record it ;)

Do you know if you will be going to Kevin Smith's Q&A cause there has been a question i have wanted to ask him for a few years :(

Ralph- said...

yeah, i am going to that on thursday, what is your question, i could warm up for LOST by asking kevin.

Mike Campbell said...

Ralph - I just wanted to ask him if he knew, which i am sure he does, that in the attack of the clones audio comentary George Lucas makes a Clerks Reference. He says, "these fly type creaters are the ones who worked on the Death Star so now Jay and Silent Bob don't have to worry about all the innocent workers." Even though it was Dante and Randal who were having that conversation, but i wondered what he thought of that Lucas shout out.

Benjamin said...

Nightmares and Dreamscapes People: I finally saw the second episode. Whew, what a stink-burger! It was irritating and pointless. It took something that could have been a great concept (A "thin spot" between realities) and muddled it with pointless camerawork and Claire Forlani. The first one was way more entertaining, and must have been much more of a challenge to shoot, act, and even write. So far, the show's still batting .500, which isn't bad at all.

COMICCON! I am very much looking forward to:

Watching a Fullerton Flyers/San Diego Surf Dawgs way minor league baseball game
Seeing the Lost panel
Gawking at celebrities
Taking stealth photos of costumed freaks because I'm afraid to ask them for a picture
Just generally nerding it up.

Ralph- said...

if you take pictures of me with natato characters, i will ask them for you.

aimee is lost said...

i only know how to use the program that puts it up on itunes, and how to link that page to this site. i have the episode on my iPod, but not on my computer. i would need to extract the file from my iPod and get the file on my computer, than i need to talk to craig and see if he would want me to put it up. i dont know how much bandwih he has, so i dont want to put things up willy nilly, especially if he has another 2 hour long podcast scheduled. i say that we leave it up to craig.

Have you ever been rejected by an ER doctor, because they couldn't "see" your injury? Yeah, I was last night. I don't think I've ever felt so medically insignificant, just because I'm a migraine sufferer. I tore off my hospital bracelet and threw it at them.

Fortunately, I didn't kill myself last night, and managed to fall asleep somehow. I went to a real doctor today, who was nice enough to get me an appointment with a neurologist, and offered to file a complaint with the hospital.

I wish that homicide wasn't illegal, that would be awesome.

Mike Campbell said...

WOW you riped off that braclet you must have been in Hulk Mode!

Anonymous said...

Aimee,
Homicide should be made legal for another reason: I'm currently looking for a new job, i registered with 3 agencies in the town near me, the first two were great, and both have set me up with interviews, one as an IT Support administrator, and one as a certification administrator (both paying well), and by all accounts, with my credentials, i should get offered the jobs. However, the third agency had some fat ass bitch who told me that i a)needed to get a car before anyone would take me seriously; b)had no chance of earning the same or more money as what i'm on now; and, c) she actually said, "Do you know what? I can't really be bothered today - i'm too hot!"
I ask you, what the fuck is that all about?! I have some advice for her: you wouldn't get so hot if you were to take the DAMN FORK OUT OF YOUR MOUTH FOR 5 MINUTES YOU FAT COW!!!
