Crackpot theory:

Jacob is an alien who was captured by the hostiles hundreds of years ago.

People talk about LOST on it, right? And watch strange videos with singing silverware--if they're lucky.

PalmerEldritch said...

so, where did we leave off in the last thread? i believe it was "aimee reads a lot of books."

You know Holli - I was just thinking of the Starbucks guy and meant to ask Aimee about it. Was wondering if he started listening maybe.

aimee is lost said...

Hey, I have a #1 fan? Sweet.

And regarding your crackpot theory, in the Flash Gordon comic that Walt/Hurley were reading from season 1, an alien was captured by the government and held captive for a long time, then came back like a bunch of years later and started a bunch of shit. It's been a while since I read it, so the details are fuzzy, but it was something like that.

Anonymous said...

Holli, I was thinking the same thing about AILR's #1 fan

Anonymous said...

Maybe it is an alien. Or it was just a trick to shoot Locke and show him the Dharma Pit. The whole "Jacob" scene was kinda weird. Maybe Ben is a bit schizo and has hallucinations and shit. Either that or the real Jacob is somewhere else. Are those Others that stupid that the whole time Ben has sort of Ben with them, they never once asked to see Jacob. Maybe when they do something that Ben doesn't like, he takes them to that house, puts on his little show, takes them to the Dharma pit, kills them, and said it was Jacob because they didn't do what they were supposed to do. I feel like I am talking out of my ass right now. I was confused by the whole Jacob part. I watched it again right after and still couldn't figure it out. I still loved this episode and until proven otherwise, I think John is still alive. Maybe Ben just punctured his lung like Sawyer did when he tried to put the Marshall out of his misery. I don't know.

International-J said...

Did anyone catch how Mikal told Ben about the location of Naomi's boat, even though he wasn't there when she said that?

PalmerEldritch said...

Not so much Flash Gordon

but i like the fact that Aimee knows the Flash Gordon exists. now, if we can get some of the 80's Flash Gordon soundtrack by Queen onto TLI...

/"he'll save everyone of us!"

International-J said...

I also noticed how when Ben walked out of Jacob's cabin how, there was no smoke from the fire. That the lantern wasn't busted.

PalmerEldritch said...

yeah, the fire disappeared in the middle of that scene. that was definitely creepy.

International-J said...

I'm also dying to find out what that line that they crossed to get to Jacob's cabin was about.

PalmerEldritch said...

Circle Magic

i knew that watching The Dresden Files would pay off!

mb said...

Erica -
I'm not sure why Richard and the Others do not seem to question Ben's sole communication with Jacob (according to Richard they do doubt him on other issues - but seemingly not that).
Now, it did seem to me that Richard was VERY interested in young Ben when they came upon each other. He almost had a glint of awe or wonder in his eye - something intense whatever it was.

I'm thinking that this has to do with the Others interest in children. Did they kind of take Ben in and over time make him their leader as the one person who, for whatever reason, can communicate with Jacob? In which case - did he replace someone else?

aimee is lost said...

Going to work out now; catch y'all later!

International-J said...

that makes a lot of sense PalmerEldritch, you may have that right on the circle magic

PalmerEldritch said...

i wonder what John Locke's hippy name was when he was working at the Spliff Factory?

mb said...

..which BTW - I don't remember ONE person saying "groovy" last night. What kind of half-assed portrayal of the 70s is this man?!?!

Maybe Namasté = groovy in Dharmaland

mb said...

the Spliff Factory should be a shopping mall kiosk - right next to the one with all the lavender scented eye-pillows

International-J said...

Thanks Kim!

Pablo -
I was just thinking something similar at lunch - that Ben may have repeated his own life's history with Annie, except his baby died (I'm assuming?) and this had something to do with him adopting Alex?

PalmerEldritch said...

welcome, jbd.

here's what kind of a LOST nerd i am. for dinner, i called up the local sandwich shop and ordered some delicious sammiches for the lady friend and myself.

"ok, sir, and what name should i put in under?"

my evil brain started turning its gears and i answered "...Jacob"

which is not my name. the best part is that the sandwich girl never saw Jacob and never knew if Jacob was real or if i, clearly identified on my debit card, was the man behind the curtain.

muhahahahaha!

Now, any thoughts on Danielle as an original Hostile?

elias said...

I just don't see The O'Quinn in that Jacob freeze frame. Am I the crazy one?

International-J said...

Hello JBD,

my crackpot theory is that Danielle is actually Annie.

Every time I introduce myself to someone I know I will never meet again I say my name is Henry

International-J said...

oh and elias, I don't think Jacob looks anything like Locke

jd said...

JonJon, I've heard that theory, too -- but I wonder why they didn't cast an actress who looked like a young Danielle? Perhaps to just throw us off?

Anonymous said...

check this out too, you guys!

International-J said...

Well that theory is impossible to think that is true.
1. Alex doesn't look anything like a creation of Ben and Annie
2. Annie doesn't look anything like Danielle
3. Danielle is crazy and Annie is not.

International-J said...

I'm stupid, this looks pretty fake. Good work on the production

jd said...

Well, my crackpot theory is that Mikhail has been hookin' up with Danielle in her fancy forest digs, so there you go...

mb said...

JBD -
So far I think Danielle did crash on the island 16+ years ago. I do not think she is an Other, what I do think is that she made some kind of deal with the others when they took Alex, under threat (I imagine by Ben) of Alex being harmed. I was even thinking that the Others concocted the whole island disease story in order to get Danielle to give up Alex to keep her healthy - i.e. Ben says "If you want your baby to live, you have to give her to us, and never come looking for us". That seems like a very Ben-ish scenario to me.

Palmer - that is so f-in hilarious - I am totally doing that on the next pizza I order ;)

Anonymous said...

mb said...

WHERE did that video come from Kim - that was cool!
Was that something Mikhail was watching in the Flame in "One of Us"?

Anonymous said...

Jacob H Poltergeist! the blogspot is on fire.
it took me a while to get through, but excellent ideas all around

-MB - i really liked your insight into Jack's leadership style, taking responsibility for everything because he grew up with his father as an alcoholic taking little.

-Jonathan - very good catch with Ben's mom having a fertility issue. Is the fact that she gave birth and died during her 7th month a significant clue. Did Ben start the fertility problem?

-Ben - i loved that Chevie Chase movie (Modern Problems?) as a kid. i think i saw it in the theater and then a million times on HBO. I didn't think it was cocaine that he snorted, just some wacky voodoo powder, but it did make him nuttier and i could have been innocently ignorant.

-Ralph - i think the other's wearing the old ragged clothes might be a way to show deference to Jacob. He hates technology, and perhaps modernity. It's actually an explanation that works much better for me than the others playing roles to trick the losties, but i guess that doesn't explain the fake beards or the door hatch.

-i think the line that Ben & Locke cross is some sort of protection circle trapping Jacob in the cabin. I also like the idea that its volcanic ash, but placed deliberately by the others/hostiles.

-Kelvin references the hostiles, and his story seemed in earnest. Perhaps once the purge happened, there was a small group of Dharma that survived and became sort of a resistance movement. It's a little farfetched but perhaps they could continue to recruit new members to the island. Perhaps the Swan Station's deadman switch was installed as a mutually assured destruction deterent to keep the hostiles from finishing Dharma off for good.

-the new Dharma initiates arrived via the submarine. i was really behind the theory that Juliet didn't actually arrive by sub but was placed in it for appearances, but now the sub seems a viable transportation to and from the island (or atleast before the swan implosion knocked out the underwater beacon)

-The Annie subplot and Ben's doll suggest that there's more story to explore with Ben, and considering how popular Michael Emerson is with viewers and producers, maybe Ben will survive season 3

-When i watched the episode i totally missed Jacob showing up. i only saw an empty rocking chair the whole time, but the interwebs don't lie. Before i went to the Hanso Foundation website i agreed that the screenshots of Jacob looked like Locke with a wig, but Hanso definitely fits the bill too.

-when i heard about this episode, this was the one i was waiting for. Doomsday scientists! I have to say that i'm disappointed that we didn't get as much of Dharma and their hippy experiments as i wanted. I should have known better than to expect shots of them showing Tarot cards to polar bears, or burning incense & trying to teleport across a room. So i feel cheated it wasn't the direction that i wanted them to go with the episode but at the same time I think it was a really good episode of Lost and I'm happy letting them write the show.

-i didn't like the haunted cabin scene. That felt like a Disney movie. I have faith in Lost to do something interesting with it all but i did find it really cheesy.

-i get a point for calling "shambala"

-i hope the peeps behind lost acknowledge that Richard Alpert having longer hair doesn't make him younger and that most viewers totally read that as him not aging, especially when compared with Ben aging from pipsqueek to master of the island. Ben's make-up on the day he killed his pops was really good though and truly made him look like a young man.

-Didn't Ben tell Richard Alpert that he wasn't born on the island? So, of the hostiles, Richard Alpert should atleast know that.

-don't know whose theory it was, but i like the idea that Ben gained influence over the hostiles because he could commune with the island (the smoke munster as his mum) but that he lied about being able to communicate with Jacob. Wouldn't jacob throw a telekenetic tantrum at Ben then?

-i have to watch "Next On Lost" again but right now i think next episode is going to be the quiet before the finale.

Patchoolie (andrew. if you're namaste)

elias said...

anyone catch the Beach dialogue when Sawyer's hiding in the bushes?

Charlie & Claire are talking, then Hurley says to Desmond:

"Dude, it can't be any worse than haggis"

:)

mb said...

Ok - after listening to Jay and Jack, and looking at the screencaps of Alpert and little Ben, I really think there may be something to the idea that Alpert and maybe the Others are survivors of the Black Rock. It's his lack of aging, of course, and his clothes - someone disagree with me but it does look like the remains of 19th century attire (very old/dirty and I'm frankly not sure how clothes could last that long). I'm starting to get a picture of the island being this place that people keep getting stranded on since god knows when.

Anonymous said...

but what crashed before the Black Rock?

mb said...

Exactly what i'm wondering - maybe nothing - don't know.

mb said...

I just realized I need to add to my theory explanation - that people get stranded there and become either extremely long-lived or immortal (not sure what the island can do yet of course).

mb said...

The longevity idea could be explained in a lot of ways (timelines being one of them), so it's a pretty fertile idea for the writers I'd say

elias said...

mb - I think the island kills off a fair few who get stranded. those that stay live healthier and longer.

I'd like to believe something before the Black Rock crashed on the island because the island itself must be older than 150 years.

Andrew - I'm also confused by Richard's pact with Ben. He knows Ben wasn't born there but he maintains that illusion.

Anonymous said...

The Black Pearl is how Richard Alpert originally got to the island. He is the long lost brother of Captain Jack Sparrow.

International-J said...

Maybe the Rambaldi device is on the island and whoever is effected by it gets to become immortal. Thanks J.J. Abrams for bringing Lost and Alias together at last.

mb said...

Lol Jon - and the series finale can end with Sydney waking up from a dream where she was Vincent the whole time - unable to speak - but knowing all.

mb said...

elias - absolutely I think the island is much older and has been inhabited but 4-toed statue people and such.

What I should have said was that don't know how many people have been stranded there over time, but I anxiously await further island history which I have to think we're going to start getting next season.

International-J said...

I'm curious to find out what immortal Alpert meant when young Ben asked,
"Are you a Hostile?"
and Richard replied with,
"Are you sure you know what that means?"

mb said...

Just realized that the gas that killed Roger Linus seemed to cause similar symptoms to Claire with the timed implant (nose bleed/convulsions). Just a random thought, perhaps the others used something similar on Danielle's team to make it look like a disease. Can't remember if there has been a reason told why she would have survived such an attack - aside from perhaps actively protecting baby Alex, who Ben & co didn't want to harm.

mb said...

good pull jon!

elias said...

mb - I want an Alpert FB, a Tom FB and an island FB next year. I don't exactly want to revisit old Jack stories.

and Alpert does look like a Black Rock deck hand in his slightly younger days.

elias said...

mb said...

Ok, fine, so technically work hasn't started yet, and apart from three others I'm the only one in the office, but still. Hurrah!

Also, I hear the ending is really cool. Of this episode, I mean. My computer's connection keeps blacking out whenever I get that far, but I'm sure the episode will have loaded completely once I get home tonight.

Alpert seemed interested in Ben because he can see people who aren't there. That possibly helped him rise more quickly to power and become a leader. Ben's scared because there's someone else who can do that and may usurp his power.

Maybe Locke's not as "special" as they think. After all, other losties have seen people/things that weren't there (or as Klugh said, "where they shouldn't be"), heard whispers, etc. Rose healed too. Jack saw his dad, Kate's horse, Yemi, Walt...Maybe they're all "special" in some way that the hostiles strive to have.

I'm guessing Alpert wants Locke to take Ben's place since he is misguided, and has convinced Tom and most of the others that Ben needs to go. Why else did they do nothing when John beat up Mikhail?

i think Little Richie Cunningham-Alpert was just wearing Others-esque Hippy Clothes.

although not changing your clothes for 90 years after the Black Rock crashed would definitely get me to classify him as a Hostile.

anyhow, Alpert seems to do a fine job adapting to the Western civilization from his Island home. when the Dharmations were Hippies, he looked like a hippy to me. long hair and groovy clothes (hemp?!). when Ben's older and Dharma's got the Corporate Look going on, Alpert takes off his gas mask and has short clipped hair.

the dude's an immortal fashionista.

PalmerEldritch said...

then again, everyone on LOST is Christian Shephard's kid. :)

Anonymous said...

This ep reminded me of Twin Peaks (at its best): a demon in the forest, Ben
a mass murderer, Dr. Eyeliner is probably the Captain of the Black Rock made immortal by the Island. I think the creative team finally decided -- "fuck it, from now on we this show will be officially off the hook!"

Morgan said...

Oh yeah, what did happen with those "mobisodes?" Hope they're on the Season 3 DVDs.

Darryl Cunningham said...

There seems to be a lot of theories floating around the intercobweb, mostly concerning Jacob looking like Locke. I'm reminded of when we first saw Patchy and everyone and their uncle thought it must be Christian Shephard or the deceased Radzinsky. It turned out to be someone we'd never seen in the show before. The eleven frames of Jacob posted on DarkUFO don't look, to me, like Locke or anyone else we know. I have to laugh at the poster he thinks they see a monkey on Jacob's shoulder. If only it were true. What this show needs are monkeys. And pirates. But mostly monkeys.

Is there any significance, do you think, in Ben asking Alpert whether he remembered birthdays anymore?

Darryl Cunningham said...

That's what I thought.

mb said...

Tall Guy - GOOD F-IN PULL!! Had not caught that!

Watching it again made me think that Jacob in the cabin surrounded by the grey powder line reminded me of the knight at the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade who is immortal as long as he stays with the Holy Grail behind the seal. Is there something about that spot that gives Jacob immortality (if he is immortal)? Is he trapped or chooses to stay there? Has ANYONE seen/talked to him before Ben?

This is going to be a hard 8 months for me.

mb said...

Kim - I'm on board with that idea more and more, and considering the monuments on the island, Ive gotta think that there may be much older people on that island as well.

Darryl Cunningham said...

An Alpert flashback would be mind-blowing.

mb said...

I think I'm going to need to email them.

Darryl Cunningham said...

Isn't it strange how this character, Richard Alpert, who was quitely introduced and who we paid little notice of (except to comment about his eyeliner), has gradually become hugely important.

Now that's how to introduce a new character to a long-running show. Invisibly. Not like two other characters we could mention.

also, i really hope the Alpy's not a former slaver from the Black Rock. slavers really grind my gears. and Alpy's the man. i'd hate to have to hate him.

Anonymous said...

Ok, i'm a bit confused. i'm a hardcore lost fan but from reading some of these Alpert/black rock/slave ship related theories, I must have something wrong: I always thought the black rock was the ship Danielle and her team crashed on the island with? Did i miss something?

PalmerEldritch said...

the blackrock is a slaving ship filled with dynamite that crashed on the island.

LOSTpedia's entry on the Black Rock

Rousseau (allegedly) came to the Island as part of a six person research team on a (presumably) modernish boat.

LOSTpedia's entry on Rousseau

Danielle Rousseau claims to have found the Radio Tower that she set up the French Transmission from near the Black Rock.

i agree that Richard Alpert is a dirty hippy and not a lily-livered pirate. But how did he go from jungle living to private airports and fancy orange juice bars?

Stephanie said...

Yeah, Alpert did assemilate well to modern society.

I think the grey powder must be volcanic ash or else it wouldn't have been mentioned in the schoolroom scene.

I'm baffled about why Jacob doesn't like technology. Does it harm him or just piss hom off?

I think that Alpert was born on the island, I don't think that he was on the pirate ship. Otherwise, his speech would be peppered with terms like, "Aye, matey," and "Arrrrrrrgh."

I hope that there's no extracurricular Lost content over the break. I agree that TLE was underwhelming, and I want TPTB to focus just on the show, and not a million other things. In blame TLE for the relative weakness of the early-season episodes.

mb said...

Good points about Richard being hippy dippy, and those clothes could just be hippy garb, but I'm still sticking with the Black Rock theory, at least until we see evidence of him possibly being even older b/c my other idea that I had last night is that I'm not sure anyone CAN be born on the island or EVER has.
I imagine the fertility problems have always existed, which would be why the island's natives may all be people who crashed there or stumbled upon it and are now either extremely long-lived, or immortal - maybe there are no true natives. I do wonder if it happens to everyone (who isn't shot, skewered, gassed, or suffers a mortal wound) - or just certain people. And if Locke survives (comes back as Locke the White - lol) that may mean he's "one of them".

Ben's efforts with Juliet re: fertility would seem to be an effort to "cure the problem" - whereas Richard's comments to Locke seem to indicate that he doesn't consider it important in the big scheme of things - hence his use of the term "novelty issues" re: fertility. Indeed, if they are immortal, or something close to it, fertility might definitely seem somewhat trivial after awhile. Perhaps Richard and his faction do not necessarily WANT to start populating the island more prolifically, and that is the division that is occurring among the others. Although Richard did seem on-board with recuiting Juliette - so it's obviously not clear-cut.

PalmerEldritch said...

maybe alpert just knew that Juliet would never be able to fix the problem.

is today over with yet? it's the friday afternoon that would never end over here. yeesh. i can't wait for the weekend.

Great points mb. For the person who asked why Jacob was mentioned to be against technology, maybe "Jacob" is the embodiment of "the island" - I know i heard Locke say that the island considered the others cheaters because they had chicken (etc) in their fridge. who's with me?!

If jacob is the island, that would explain why locke is so special, in the sense that jacob has chosen him to pass his powers onto/through against ben. or someshit like that

This is hi-larious and it features a quick glimpse of Jacob's cabin I think.

PalmerEldritch said...

haven't yet had a chance to check out your link, holli. the first thing i thought of when i saw the cabin was "Evil Dead (I and II)" and "Army of Darkness." in fact, jacob's freakout scene was evocative of that series as well.

Jacob is Evil Ash.

The blogspot has been saying that Bruce is Jacob for quite a while now.

Oh my goodness, it's so hard to stay caught up on the blogspot these days. There are so many posts with awesome episodes like this, you really have to spend a lot of time here to not get Lost. Hahaha. Worst joke ever.

That's awesome that Zack's on the blogspot & listening now! Yay Starbucks!

Steph & Brooklyn, send me your email addresses (aimeenoto@aol.com) so I can get you in touch with each other, so Brooklyn can send Chins to you once he's finished with it! I haven't heard him mention anyone else calling dibs on it, so I think it's yours.

Pablo, I really like your theory about Ben's motivation for the fertility cure. It would certainly make a lot of sense. However, if you wanted to play devil's advocate, you could simply ask: 1) How is it a civilization ever existed on the island if women could never procreate? and 2) Couldn't Ben's motivation simply be to continue a civilization, without any personal need for outside population?

memphish said...

Aimee, I already hooked Steph up with Mateo's email address to facilitate the movement of the Chin.

Aimee: you stumped me hahha. As for your second question, it kinda takes me back to what 1 of the boys from dharmalars was saying (don't remember wich) about the Children of Men angle. In the movie women just stopped being able to concieve. but yeah....maybe that could answer your first question also.

Battlestar Galactica geeks - Amiral Adama is saying season 4 is the last.

It might be that i have too little patience when it comes to serial TV shows, but i for one am happy that BSG is going to wrap up. I'm still miffed about season 3.5 and hope that having a finite number of episodes to get their story out will force Moore & Co. to be a little more structured.

i'm a bad fan, but i kind of wish Lost was going to wrap up sooner too. Watching TV shows on DVD after they're already cancelled has trained me to race to the end and story resolution. [actually, most shows i've watched were cancelled before they were ready so most just stop, but that is it's own sort of closure and i get to start imagining what happened to the characters and forming my own solutions without worrying that they'll just put out something down the line that contradicts my imagination]

Guys, Where are we?
andrew.

Hey Aimee!

Palmer - good point about Alpert - he may have just known that Juliette wouldn't make a difference.

Aimee& Pablo - loving this discussion b/c it is what is sticking in my head the most right now. HAS the infertility problem always existed or is it a Children of Men scenario where they stopped having babies and so the civilization died?
Either way if Richard's opinion is an indication of how some of the Others feel - they don't seem to be real concerned with having babies.
Great idea you brought up Pablo re: Shakers - and while the Shakers died out - a group of immortal or semi-mortal people would NOT die out (at least not that quickly.

Dammit I loved this episode!

Anonymous said...

Hello people of blogspotica. I just wanted to chime in and remind you all of just how much I suck.

Oh yeah, and that spoiler guy from TLI is the bee's knees. He has the wit and charm of a young Warren Beaty.

mb said...

Hmmm...yeah, I wouldn't mind looking at Annette Benning everyday

PastPablo said...

Mb and Aimee: I think the "others" as we know them are made up of 2 types of individuals: 1 would be the indiginous "others (alpert, since he's apparently immortal, maybe even Ethan) and 2) Ben and the ppl who are "adopted" as the shakers would say - or "Recruited" would be another way to say it. (juliet, tom, goodwin, etc). Maybe they live on not by procreation but by recruitment. Ok, now the second set of others, the mortals (lol) are fucked, because they need to procreate in order to leave a legacy, hence it being a big deal to ben but not to richard. But if i'd have to guess, i'd say the procreation problem is something that just started happening not too long ago, maybe jacob hit em where it hurts.

PastPablo said...

Oh just wanted to clarify also, Palmer brought up the shakers, i just quoted the wiki. thanks Palmer

Giving "Credit Where Credit is Due" - very honorable of you Pablo.

I like the immortal/mortal groups idea - would certainly be dramatic. So many thoughts, I think I'm overloading

Wow!
Watched the episode yesterday and I think the general consensus is: wow! omfg comes in close second.
Anyways, the blogspot has blown up, which is awesome! Tougher to keep up with all the comments, but sweet none the less! Congratz TLI!

Read all the comments and there really aint much I can add. Didn't see Jacob at first glance, but I did notice something weird while the camera panned so I rewinded and eeeek! that was creepy! Along with the "Help Me!!" Completely horrifying!

Someone decoded all the whispers in this episode? Always interesting to hear what they say.

memphish said...

Wesh, I haven't seen a Whispers transcript yet. I know those folks that do that over at The Fuselage are working on it. If I find out more, I'll post it or post a link here.

That's a good point. Maybe Ben shot Locke because if Richard and the Others found out that Locke could talk to Ben, then they would want Locke as a leader or part of the group and overthrow Ben or something. I need to watch this episode at least 3 or 4 more times to figure something out. My head hasn't hurt this much since Flashes Before Your Eyes with the whole time travel shit going on.

Here is another little video I found after watch the one that T-Dot put up. Not sure if it's legit but it looked like some removed the blackness around Jacob's face. Don't know. It looks like Dennis Hopper to me.

mb said...

Lol pablo - It IS addicting

Stephanie said...

Don't we all have addictive personalities? The question I have is if a person is hooked on a show enough to listen to podcasts, does that person visit spoiler sites also? Not talking about those who choose to be spoiler-free. But when I record spoilers for Heroes, I figure if you go to the trouble of downloading a podcast and you want to hear spoilers, then you already visit spoilerfix. Right?

memphish said...

Steph, Here is my personal spoiler testimony. I used to listen to spoilers on podcasts and even occasionally visited Spoiler Fix up until the episode Dave. Going into Dave I knew that Dave was imaginary and that Libby was in the mental institution and as a result, I just didn't enjoy that episode as much as I would have had those been OMG moments as I watched.

Then after watching Season 3 Ep. 1-6 previews and promos I realized how much they were giving away and so I stopped watching the extra promos all together and try not to obsess frame by frame over the post-episode previews.

As a result of all these moves I enjoy the episodes more. I watch LOST (and Heroes) in large part for the OMG moments. Spoilers degrade those for me. Thus while I'm not a total spoiler purist, I'm pretty much spoiler free and happy with it.

Holli

P.S. I don't watch Heroes commercials either.

PalmerEldritch said...

welcome to blogspot addiction, pablo. thanks for the Shakers shout out but i didn't invent them, just remembered them because of the Quaker Oats guy. Quaker rhymes with Shaker and is another religious group. and oatmeal is intrinsically funny. therefore, i'll never forget the Shakers.

steph, i am looking forward to Heroes on DVD. and if an end to BSG means more story arc heavy episodes, i'm all for it. that's a story that deserves to end when the writers are ready for it. like LOST is.

hey, don't forget it's mother's day this weekend. and how fitting that we had an episode with ben's mom in it!

mb said...

Steph - I didn't know you did a spoilercast for Heroes! Where do I listen? (even tho I don't watch the show....yet! I've got my summer/Fall DVD viewing all planned out)

Stephanie said...

Recovering from a panic attack at the moment. The internet told me the blogspot was unavailable.
Not in Portland was the episode for me, Holli. I read the entire run-down just hours before it aired. I felt like I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't know everything that was going to happen in such great detail.
And with Heroes, there were so many preview clips of .07% floating around, I felt like I had already watched the episode. I like to be teased but not completely spoiled.
Have a nice weekend, everyone. Jordan, we can commiserate together tomorrow.

It just hit me: Naomi must be lying about the plane having been found. According to the Bad Twin foreword, the plane is missing at the time of publishing.

Is that a retarded way of looking at it or an inconsistency in the Lost universe?

Jacob&BenChat

by Vozzeck69.

The meat of it is this analysis:

BEN (To Jacob): "I told you he wouldn't".

Ben's telling Jacob that Locke can't see him. As the only one to see and hear Jacob, Ben wants it to stay that way. To keep in power he's vehemently kept anyone else from Jacob - especially someone as special as Locke.

BEN (To Locke): "You can't see him?" (slightly mockingly) "He's sitting right there, in this chair".

Ben's giddily relieved that Locke can't see Jacob. He thinks Locke doesn't have the faith. He doesn't want him to.

BEN (To Jacob): "Yes I know, but he insisted".

Jacob just told Ben that Locke wasn't ready. Apparently Jacob wanted Locke to come, but only once he would be able to see him. Ben's half apologetic and half making excuses. Secretly, he's glad Locke came early.

BEN (To Jacob): "I am not. He made me bring him here, did you think that it was my-"

Jacob just accused Ben of conspiring to fail by bringing Locke early. Jacob's smart. He knows Ben wants to maintain control... he knows Ben doesn't want Locke to see him. Jacob is realizing that Ben's agenda is not his own.

LOCKE (To Ben): "Do you think there's someone there?"

BEN (To Locke): "I KNOW there is. I'm sorry John, (snootily) that you're too limited to see".
