bsed on the Thread Title, i have a feeling that Craig or Dylan posted it in response to the amount of comments on the blog. i can say this, i did not post it.
I love it how I always seem to catch the end of the conversations, or I comment during a quiet time on the blogspot. Then when I leave, everyone comes back.
Sorry JonJon, I was trapped on the phone. You on the westcoast? I notice d that the lefties are always S.o.l. when it comes to activity on here. Early bird gets the worm. It's cool though, sometimes it gives you time to catch up on all the posts.
I can't get away from Lost, I was watching Ghost Rider (yuck) this weekend, and who do I see? Goodwin. Right this minute, I'm watching "Dark Corners" - a film W/ Thora Birch, and get this...a few weeks ago I was discussing her here on the blogspot, and today I check out this movie, well in the movie, there's 2 of her, in parallel world, one light side, one dark side, (neither version is "bad/evil/dark" etc, the world she lives in is just more macabre, etc) , this started to seem familiar, then they drop a "Through The Looking Glass" reference in a news report, with a dog aptly named Alice. Characters from both sides of her "world/dimension" keep weaving in and out of her world(s). The film itself is shit (so bad it's good) but ah well, Lost is taking over the world (it's already taken over my world, apparently)
Oh ok jonjon, yeah I'm trying to get this movie finished so I can get some sleep.
Update on the movie:
In the "Dark" parallel, she is distinguished by a Lost caliber bad black wig (it's terrible). When 1 wakes, the other sleeps, for instance, if Lightchick passes out, Darkchick wakes up, when Lightchick wakes up, she thinks she's dreamt everything that Darkchick saw/lived.
Hope i'm not spoiling this movie for anyone lol.
p.s. Thora has to be the worst actress ever. She's lucky i like her...
LOL it's actually terrible Casey, it just ended and wow, must say, worst movie i've seen this year. They also had a set of numbers though, 6 18, that played out in the story. It's laughable so check it out if you like laughing at pseudo intelectual horror movies. i'm out for tonight people.
i'm going to take a tiny,mini-kablamo for 16, because quite frankly i'm pissed off that i haven't had one for ages - every time i come on, it's either at a tiny number, or at 109. So bollocks, i'm having it.
holli, nobody cares about the NHL. 'round these parts, it's on the same channel (the Versus Network?) as Chuck Norris' World Combat League. how the mighty have fallen.
i like the link though.
jellyman, you take that 16 kablamo. i'm pretty sure it's technically kosher.
Holli, I wish I knew something about hockey. That article would be funny if I did. You visit that site alot, don't you? I have a discussion question, everyone. What sites do you visit everyday? What forums are you a member of?
Facebook. I hear you have to have a college student id to join. Malcolm David Kelly posted on his facebook that he had been to Hawaii is shoot the Lost finale. Why would he have a student id? This is bizzare.
I just thought id say i was listening to the Dharmalars Through the looking glass podcast last night having watching the finale 7 times, and everytime the started on some theory about what happend i went off in my head playing everything out and by time id realised were i was i'd already missed half of the podcast and had to go back lol how the hell are we going to last till febuary
Jordan, I saw that Wendy's commercial. I wouldn't have known it was Wendy's if you hadn't said it. I was too busy thinking that's Zach Braff, isn't it? Doesn't Will Arnett do a commercial? I have no idea what the product is because I'm too busy wondering if it actually is Will Arnett. I just watched the AD where Gob gave Charlize Theron the ruffies and then took one hisself after talking to Steve Holt. OMG, funny.
I check each of those all through the day. They get my pop culture going.
Someone 2 threads ago asked about podcasts, Trevor I think. My staple other than LOST stuff is almost anything from NPR. "This American Life" 1 hour a week, is great as is "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me . . ." I also get "Fresh Air," but am selective about which guests I want to hear. Terry Gross is one of the best interviewers ever.
Holli
P.S. My son made it through the first night of sleep away camp without me getting a call. Yeah!
** possible season 4 spoilers ** the new Jay and Jack podcast references an interview with Michael Emerson where he suggests that only Jack and Kate got off the island and everyone else was forced to remain behind. That would certainly explain why Jack is so distraught and eager to get back to the island. It makes Kate a total bitch though. If it's really the present at the end of the finale then that means that the rest of the Losties were fending for themselves for 3 year. Considering how much happened to them in the months shown on the show so far, they could have gone through some major shit.
I don't know Andrew, I think that's just an assumption Michael Emerson made for himself. Before I saw the finale and only read the rumors of the flash-forward, I imagined Jack and Kate were the only one's off the island. When I actually saw the episode, I came to believe more were rescued. Who survived the rescue, which ones are still on the island are left up in the air. The writers have left their options open. Just like who's in the coffin.
Stephanie, yeah, i'm not sure how much stock i put into it. i just wanted to be safe with the spoiler warning. I just assumed most of the losties got off the island and hadn't really considered that only Jack and Kate got away. I like both ideas. As always, i'm happy to be surprised by the writers.
i like the idea that jack wants to go back to the island to save the rest of the LOSTies. but i like the idea that jack wants to go back to the Island because IslandLife was somehow preferable to RealWorldLife even more. maybe he's come to find out that Locke was right all along?
I think Michael Emerson is merely speculating about who got off the Island. I could see it being just Kate and Jack. Ben says that if Naomi's people come "every living person on the Island will die." Maybe Ben is finally telling the truth, but Jack finds a way for him and the woman he loves to escape. But both are so wracked as to the circumstances they can't be together. Maybe they start together, but Kate leaves him like Sarah because of his "need to fix things" problem. It still doesn't explain why she's not in jail and people know who he is. I heard one podcast talking about how it would be easier if you were Oceanic to rescue just 2 people who escaped the wreckage in a raft rather than 40 including people who were never on Flight 815.
That website is pretty funny to look at, it's like going back in time! The Negative Comments are hilarious, love the blacked out letters. As if we have never read profanity on a website before. Apparently they've never been here.
Brian K Vaughan is foreign to me, but if you guys like him so much why dont you pick up a comic book that he likes? sorry, i am plugging Madman again. its a really neat book
lol it would be scary if you want sat on the beach minding your own business as such, and that came charging at you out of the jungle, id like to see locke jump on that and slit is throat
i was listening to the podcast last night ralph and you mad it sound good. So now im trying to pick up a copy of the internet, that ships to the uk. Not really into comic books and all but thought ill give it a go
how screwed up are some of those negative comments? yeesh!
personally, guns scare the hell out of me and i wouldn't take an eleven year old out to do battle with a giant boar armed with a hand gun. but some of those naysayers are crazy.
Nothing specific ... just some basics about the structure of next season and things like that. It also contradicts what Michael Emerson said in his interview. I wasn't even sure if I should label this a spoiler or not... don't know if it's possible to remain completely in the dark about things like this for 8 months.
Most "spoiler" stuff out there right now is likely to be a "foiler." Most of the stuff I've read with Cuseloff says "we ain't saying nothing," (My paraphrase) but we'll miss Charlie.
I think ComicCon will be the first time we get some accurate info. on Season 4 and beyond.
I can still red card, right? I red card Cingular or the new At&t and any other company that refuses to allow you to talk to a human being when you need support. Pisses me off.
Thanks, Trevor. I WAS in line in a chatroom to get my question answered. Why do they not wan tus to call? They try to keep their phone numbers from us.
i like that these places that clearly don't want you talking to their people take the time to create these weird backdoors into their systems to get people.
Jon, I don't know where you got the number. I couldn't find it. That's like iTunes. No instructions, no support. You have to search the internet for a way to talk to someone. Service is a joke. "We're so cool, we don't need to please the customer."
Speaking of podcasts - if you're into Popular Science magazine (or pop-science kind of stuff), there's a cool and funny podcast by Jonathan Coulton (who is a kick-ass and hilarious musician/songwriter). He just features an article from the magazine each show and does an interview with the appropriate person, but since I don't get the mag, its all new to me, and I'm always fascinated by scientific discovery (even if it's developing a fast-drying super-paint, which was on the most recent show). His songs are totally worth checking out as well - kind of off-the-wall funny stuff.
Otherwise, I usually don't miss Harry Shearer's le show for some low-key funnies, or Left, Right, and Center for political discussion.
i need to be doing some graphic design stuff but it's super hot and i'm slacking. so...
iPod Shuffle: * Cypress Hill - Hole In The Head the 1st Cypress Hill album is an underappreciated classic. DJ Muggs' production is sick from start to finish, and considering that this came out in 1991 its sound is just as groundbreaking as that of much of the Native Tongue Family (A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers...) or the Digging In The Crates crew (Diamond D, Large Professor, Lord Finesse...). None of their other material has the raw funk of the 1st album, but sample clearance laws and gangsta-rap takeover (which Cypress Hill was definitely a part of) took it's toll on the whole hiphop landscape.
*Mystic Knights Of The Oingo Boingo - 2001 (Live At The Aquarius Theater 1978) I know Ralph shares some love for Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo. This is where the internet is amazing. I never thought i'd get to hear a show from when Oingo Boingo was the performance theatre troupe led by Richard Elfman before they became the new wave pop group that had all of the 80's hits.
*JFA - Preppy The quintessential skate punk group.
*Dos - 'Til The Blood Ran I played bass in highschool and Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE...) was one of my biggest heroes. Dos is him and his ex-wife Kira (Black Flag) playing bass together. They're both amazing bassists and get really surprising, beautiful sounds out of their thunder*brooms.
*Bush Babees - The Love Song One of the early outings for Mos Def, this album is a nice summation of all of the elements that made the golden era of hiphop so great; deep, jazzy production, playful lyrics and dynamic deliveries. This is a popular song with the ladies.
*Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Akira: Symphonic Suite - Exodus From The Underground One of my favorite soundtracks. I bought this CD from a weird import laserdisc shop in San Francisco. This was before Akira got it's American dub which helped spark the Japanese animation craze, and i was dragging my dad around to a bunch of little shops who mostly sold import foods and ceramics in hopes of finding any crappy manga or bootleg VHS tapes. Geinoh Yamashirogumi was a really odd gamelan group made up of everyday folks; secretaries, construction workers, doctors, students... who played a unique fusion of tradtional instruments and synthesizers. I've been looking for other recordings by the group for the last 19(?!) years but most of their recordings are from the 70's in Japan and weren't particularly popular.
*Moodymann - M.E.A.N.D.N.J.B. I've been trying to fight off my friends who keep pushing disco, techno and house music on me, but some of the Detroit deep house stuff has made it through my defenses. I really love Moodymann because he gets those hypnotic, repetitive house grooves and then textures them with live keys, gritty soul loops, and growly vocals so it sounds completely antithetical to the raver sound.
*Paulette & Tanya Winley - I Believe In The Wheel Of Fortune A lot of pre-1988 hiphop leaves me cold, but Paulette & Tanya Winley always sound like they're having fun and a lot of their rapid-fire puns are really clever.
XSteel CurtainX - The Curtain Ha ha. Pittsburgh grind-punk band that only plays songs dedicated to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's pretty awesome actually. This isn't going to show up in anyone else's shuffle.
Iris Dement - Hide Thou Me Iris might not have the most beautiful voice in the world, but she more than makes up for it with brilliant songwriting and heart. I steer clear of most country, but good music is good music.
Hey everyone, apologies - I just realized Coulton's website tries to auto-launch iTunes when you click on the pop-sci podcast link. This is a better link for getting the podcast (if you don't use iTunes or don't want to).
Andrew, is your real name John Peel or Paul Gambuchini? Because i have no fucking clue who any of the people you were on about there...apart from cypress hill. My ipod shuffle invariably, un-randomly picks out Your Mother Should Know by The Beatles, Chop Suey by System of a Down; Creep by Radiohead; New York Minute by The Eagles, and April Come She Will by Simon & Garfunkel - without fail. But everyone knows those songs, right? (My iPod is Video one, and the 'random' shuffle feature? Random my arse.)
hmmm... no new LOST tonight, eh? well, that blows. how are you guys coping tonight? DVDs of previous seasons? violent video games? actually spending time with friends and family? any suggestions?
I thought I had a date with Hubby for the movies, but he called and cancelled on me. Someone needs their gall bladder out. The nerve of some people. I may rewatch the finale or read me some LOST books to catch up with Aimee.
Tim - just music obsessive my whole life. Most of my money is tied up in records.
MB (is Mac really General Grievous? just how deep does this conspiracy go?) thanks for the podcast link.
looked up Dominic Monaghan in IMDB. His slate looks pretty clean other than a movie about him as graverobber which was in pre-production in 2006. I hope he continues to find success.
Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! I just realized it's the first non-lost day in about 16 weeks. I am so sad!! I can't get away from it either. I listen to a ton of podcasts and they all mention lost somehow. What's freaky is sometimes when I'm listening to TLI or The Lar or Jay and Jack in my car, a bus will pull up next to me with a Lost promotion on the side of it. Although it's old 'cause it still said Lost Wednesdays at 9/8c on it, but it was still weird.
Andrew - excellent idea - haven't done a shuffle in a while -
1. Doctor Who - The Stone Rose (Part 19) - yes, I am enough of a Who-nerd to be listening to the audiobooks.
2. Oh Darling! - the Beatles (Abbey Road) Paul at his raspy-finest. I enjoy the "Long and Winding Road" side of McCartney - but this is the McCartney that I love.
3. Minnie's Yoo-Hoo - the Disney Chorus I'll just let the jokes simmer...
(P.S. in case it's not clear - this in on the iPod for my daughter)
4. Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel (Hit/1st album) Overplayed as it may be at times - it still always makes me smile
5. She Loves You - The Beatles (Anthology 1) I know not everyone was into them, but the Anthology discs made these older tracks interesting to me again.
6. Robbery, Assault, and Battery - Genesis (A Trick of the Tail) Kick Ass album! Right after Peter Gabriel left the band - they proved they were going to be just fine. If you've only heard 80s Genesis (which I am a fan of - yes even Invisible Touch), take a listen to this to be plunged head first into a completely different Genesis than you're used to. It rocks.
7. Danny's Song - Loggins & Messina (Sittin' In) This song has family memories for me - used to pretend to sing it to my Mom in our living room.
8. Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who (Who's Next) I guess this is the Classic Rock mix. Gotta be one of the greatest rock albums of all time. It just explodes with energy - they're at the top of their form here IMO
9. Morning Glory - Oasis (What's the Story...) I have a knack for getting into bands about 10 years after they're "hot"
10. Pink Flamingos - Strength in Numbers (The Telluride Sessions) This album is pure gold. Classic new grass revival stuff - 5 guys, 10 songs, let the virtuosity wash over you.
Here's my shufffle for today: 1. Fix You - Coldplay (awesome, because it's one of my favourite song of all time) 2. Kissing You - Des'ree 3. Everybody's Changind - Keane 4. By Your Side - Sade 5. In Your Eyes (Acoustic) - Ben Harper 6. Unchained Melody - The Richeous Brothers 7. Losing My Religion - REM 8. Run It - Chris Brown 9. Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson 10. Come Away With Me - Norah Jones 11. Last Night Ever - Jarvis Church 12. You Only Live Once - The Strokes
1) Don't Talk, 10,000 Maniacs (MTV Unplugged): never a big fan of theirs, but I always thought that this was a great concert album
2) Tonight She Comes, The Cars: Damn Ric Ocasik, married a hot model and retired
3) Whip It, Devo: must be 80s day on the iPod
4) Fade Into You, Mazzy Star: what happened to these guys? are they still around?
5) I've Been High, R.E.M. (iTunes Originals): R.E.M. is my favorite band, I think that I have everything they've ever done on my iPod
6) 'Opae E, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole: I downloaded a bunch of his music after my wife and I got back from our honeymoon in Hawaii; it really takes us back, because his music is everywhere you go in Hawaii
7) Burn Down the Mission, Phil Collins: I have no excuse for having this one
8) Sweet Rosalyn, Sheryl Crow
9) If You Wear That Velvet Dress, U2: from their electronic phase
10) This Must be the Place (Native Melody), Talking Heads: another ATF band
MB - isn't your profile pic mr. Grievous? That's the extent of my reference. If i remember right, he sounded kind of like Mac after a long night of smoking (which isn't a good look for computers)
nice shuffles. more points for associated embarassing stories.
Say Yes! To Michigan - Sufjan Stevens Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) - Pink Floyd Atmospheric Conditions - Beck Ovombo Summit - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones Rhinoceros - Smashing Pumpkins We Dance Alone - Beck It's Good to Be in Love - Frou Frou Going Steady - Death From Above 1979 Painted Eyelids - Beck Feel Good Inc. - Gorillaz Eriatarka - The Mars Volta Rococo - Jean-Pierre Rampal and Claude Bolling,
1. Hot Fun in the Summertime - Sly & The Family Stone 2.Store Bought Bones - The Raconteurs 3. Rhythm-A-Ning - Thelonious Monk 4.Mother and Child Reunion - Paul Simon 5. I Can't Quit You Baby - Led Zep 6. Rainy Night in Soho - The Pogues 7. Mind Games - John Lennon 8. Meet Me At Mary's Place - Sam Cooke 9. 1999 - Common & Sadat X 10. Temptation - New Order
Y'all musically intimidate me, especially Andrew. 1)Do it Again- The Kinks 2)Aint No Other Man- Christina Auguilera 3)Grace- Jeff Buckley 4)Living With Ghosts- Patty Griffin 5)Home- Daughtry 6)Son of a Sailor- Jimmy Buffet 7)Let's Go Crazy- Prince 8)Rock Your Body- Justin Timberlake 9)Get Up Stand UP- Bob Marley 10)Can't Get Next To You- The Temptations
JonJon, seeing that Pink Floyd reminds me that yesterday in the kid's book section at my local independent bookseller, they were playing Pink Floyd without lyrics. I'm still sure there was subliminal advertising involved.
My Shuffle:
1. I Could Give You (A Mirror) - Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These) - they liked to use ().
2. The Wrong Child - R.E.M. - Green - this album was when R.E.M. went mainstream and I saw some 16-year-olds on The Today Show talking about how R.E.M. was so new. That's a favorite joke between Hubby and me since as I shared, R.E.M. played our campus pub in Hubby's day.
3. Junkyard Medley - Sesame Street Live - Elmo's Coloring Book - you aren't alone in sharing your iPod MB.
4. Three Marlenas - The Wallflowers - Bringin Down the House - frankly my favorite of the Dylans. Take your shots.
5. Eclipse - Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon - interesting giving the above story. And yes I have watched Wizard of Oz synched with the music.
6. Oh Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison - The All-Time Greatest Hits of Roy Orbison - He recorded here in Memphis at Sun Studios.
7. Head Over Feet - Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill - the album my roommates and I most listened to the week we took the California Bar Exam.
8. Seven Lonely Days - Patsy Cline - Sweet Dreams - like Kate, I love me some Patsy.
9. Pride - Echo & The Bunnymen - Crocodiles - great early alternative. LOST should use them what with Bunnymen.
10. Is There Any Love in Your Heart - Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way - great song, great album
each to his/ her own Holli. so I'll let that Dylan comment slide ;)
I was made to listen to all pre-Green REM by my American friend and I have to say it was delightful. Listening to music from Athens, Georgia in Athens, Greece somehow made sense to me.
Steph - I still laugh at Sawyer singing Redemption Song on the raft and getting all self-conscious when Michael asks if he's singing Bob.
Did anyone read Jeff Jensen's online article about the finale? It's partly about how Lost seems to have a lot in common with the plot arcs of the Planet of The Apes movies.
Of course, we all know this already because of Jimmy's stellar musical analysis.
Yeah Trevor. That video is "brrrrrrr" and not in the way Michael Scott meant it when he left the message for Jan.
Appaullo, I read the Jeff Jensen earlier. I guess I'm going to have to watch all the Planet of the Apes movies this summer, fall, winter while LOST is off. Netflix has been wanting me back.
I hate the majority of American Society now. We want kids to look like teenagers, that(while underage) smoke, drink, and do drugs. I just loves parents like that!!! Oh boy next week I want to see Extreme Makeover: Elementary Edition! I think we have found why our literacy rating sucks as compared to other countries. HORRAY AMERICA! I LOVE AMERICA!
The Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana Quality Control - Jurrasic 5 Lady Stardust - Seu Jorge Nothing Better - The Postal Service How Blue Can You Get? - BB King A Love Supreme, Pt 1 - John Coltrane Girls Talk - Elvis Costello Healthy Body - Operation Ivy Little Moon - Norah Jones The Chase, Pt 2 - A Tribe Called Qwest
Holli - that video was awful, especially the way the little girl's survival instinct kicked in, 'mom, i don't want to do this,' only to be airbrushed out.
MB - i totally made that mistake on purpose, just trying to keep you on your toes.
JonJon, I saw that earlier, but the thing I saw also said that the official announcement is tomorrow. Dec. 11 is the date Amazon is listing. As I recall, last year they overshot the date as well. If they do take until Dec. to get those mothers out, every single episode better have commentaries.
BTW, I have every episode on my DVR and I can burn DVDs, so if anyone is in desperate straits, shoot me an email and we'll see what we can arrange. No commericials, but there may be Doppler Weater alerts along the bottom, not to mention crazy Memphis politician alerts.
I can't see the video, Websense is the bomb. I assume it's a stagemom pushing her young daughter into something she's not into or ready for. Jonjon, try finding age-appropriate clothes in a department store these days for a 8 year-old girl. You can't find anything that doesn't look like a prostitute.
Here's a little drinking game from Communist Dance Party if you want to rewatch the finale:
If Walt shows up...TAKE A DRINK! If Michael shows up...TAKE A DRINK! If Arzt shows up...CHUG! Every time Desmond says 'brother'...TAKE A DRINK! Every time Desmond's beard says 'brother'...CHUG! Every time Jack looks discouraged and smarky...TAKE A DRINK! Every time Kate says 'I'm going with!'...TAKE A DRINK! If Charlie lives...TAKE A DRINK! When Charlie dies...CHUG! Every time an Other gets killed...TAKE A DRINK! Every time something blows up...TAKE A DRINK! Every time Locke blows something up...CHUG! If Jack starts crying again...TAKE A DRINK! Every time a gun is fired...TAKE A DRINK! Every time Jim Halpert looks directly into the camera...CHUG
Same here with the rain, except yesterday, we were supposed to get it, but didn't. But it's looking pretty dark out there, so I'm guessing it's coming.
jonjon, you know I'm just playing with you. Monday, they said it would rain today. No rain. Today, they are saying rain Friday. I'm not counting on it. If our garden does make it, it'll be August before anything does come in.
well, i'll re-kablamo but i'm rooting (routing?) for futureally in the... future.
yeah, steph. that TB guy is a dumbass. there's got to an applicable law to keep that jerk from traveling.
and there's an appropriate clip from the Family Guy about shopping for young women's clothing but i youtubed and youtubed but couldn't find it. bonus points to the guy (or gal) who can find the scene where Lois takes Meg to the department store to buy clothes.
OK Palmer, how do you keep cutting in front of me? It's like neither one of us will post for a while and then we post at the same time. That's semi-creepy.
when others failed to get the job done, you stepped up and brought justice and liberty to the interwebs. because of you, the information superhighway is safer than it was the day before.
Steph, you ever read Tom Wolfe's "I Am Charlotte Simmons"? A bunch of young women are refered to as "Cum Dumpsters" by the frat boys, on atleast a couple of ocassions. Needless to say, good read.
Why does my page say 136 posts? It's been at that number for twenty posts now. I'm determined to get us to 200. Guess what my little one wants to be when she grows up. She wants to work on SNL. That's my girl. Last week it was video game developer. The week before that it was spa owner. Can't wait to see what it'll be next week.
Since I'm almost finished with the Chins book, I was thinking about buying Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way. Maybe we can send it all over the country also.
I'm really at my wits end peoples. I'm thinking about jumping out of my 20th floor office here in LA. If you guys see anything on the news tonight, say hi.
i just read in the last thread you guys talking about changing this to a message board. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT! jay and jack is my favorite pod cast, but i HATE their message board. it's nothing but a bunch of little kids giggling and goofing around. they get in childish fights all the time. they have this stupid thing where you give people points and take them away. its terrible! and the worst thing of all, the board has become a little girls with crushes on jay fan site. its more of a jay site than it is lost. i doubt any of the podcasters here want that. well, maybe ben. he seems like he's got the diva personality and ego that would like that kind of thing. but please dont ruin this cool place! i dont post here normally, but i love reading the randomness. please don't become like the jay and jack board!
Well, it's official that the Season 3 DVDs won't be out until Dec. 11. From Reuters:
"Lost: The Complete Third Season -- The Unexplored Experience" follows December 11 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The 23-episode, seven-disc set comes with a one-on-one with star Matthew Fox, a featurette on "The Others," a documentary chronicling 24 hours in production and a selection of never-before-seen flashbacks. Also included are behind-the-scenes looks at 10 episodes, audio commentaries, deleted scenes and bloopers.
argh!!! that's a long wait. in the meantime, i'll have to teach my cats to recreate scenes from season 3 or something.
oh. how hard does the smoke munster suck? remember when it was totally badass and killed Eko? yeah, Eko told Locke and company that it said "you're next" or some such. well, what the hell has the smoke munster done since? not a hell of a lot. it watched while Nikki and Paolo used knockout spiders on each other (maybe) and it sexually harassed kate and juliet in the jungle. other than that, it's been pretty tame and loserish.
the smoke munster needs to get its groove back. let's see it kill some logcarryingguys or something.
Red Card the new politician in the "cool new people" window on myspace everyday. You may say it's savy campaigning, I say it's insincere and disingenuous.
steph, love the new pic. anything with The Chin kicks @$$. his other book is definitely a little weird. it's a fictional (and very self-deprecating) autobiography of him working on a fictional movie with fictional versions of hollywood celebs. very strange.
You don't recommend it, p? I don't know why I say this. I didn't know anything about him before, but I expected BC to be more of a Ladies' Man. I guess it's the Hollywood image they're trying to sell us.
it's a fun read. but it's definitely a piece of fiction. that said it's an amusing piece of fiction about an amusing guy and written by an amusing guy.
I was ready to read about illicit affairs and one night stands in the chins book. Instead, he marries every female he talks about. Married people don't want to read about married people. Or, this married person doesn't.
holli, Smokey needs some Tough Love. sometimes, you've got to call out your friends on their shortcomings so they can commit to making a needed change. Smokey needs to make the change into a ravenous, bloodthirsty, instrument of death. and quick.

Moving my Lost and the NHL link over. Does anyone here care about the NHL? I don't, but referencing Sayid's neck breaking feet works for me anyday.

me too, jonjon
Pablo, lets get to 200 by ourselves!
impossible i say...because i just posted!

Nah Pablo, I'm actually located right now in Dallas, TX. It's 12:27 am right now. I don't sleep much
Oh ok jonjon, yeah I'm trying to get this movie finished so I can get some sleep.
She's lucky i like her...
ive never heard of this movie, but it sounds interesting pablo
LOL it's actually terrible Casey, it just ended and wow, must say, worst movie i've seen this year. They also had a set of numbers though, 6 18, that played out in the story. It's laughable so check it out if you like laughing at pseudo intelectual horror movies. i'm out for tonight people.
concept sounds interesting, but i guess the execution didnt turn out so well
i might check it out for its terribleness.
i'm going to take a tiny,mini-kablamo for 16, because quite frankly i'm pissed off that i haven't had one for ages - every time i come on, it's either at a tiny number, or at 109.
Thanks Palmer, i appreciate your back up!
Sites i visit everyday?
This one,
bbc.co.uk/sport,
youtube,
ebay.co.uk.
...oh, and Facebook.com
Facebook. I hear you have to have a college student id to join. Malcolm David Kelly posted on his facebook that he had been to Hawaii is shoot the Lost finale. Why would he have a student id?
This is bizzare.
I think I meant bizarre.
OMG, funny.
steph, i'll hit up Fark for the latest in stupid happenings in the world.
Jellyman, you take all the Kablammos you want. 42 should be up soon. Who will get it?

Best Week Ever
I check each of those all through the day. They get my pop culture going.
Someone 2 threads ago asked about podcasts, Trevor I think. My staple other than LOST stuff is almost anything from NPR. "This American Life" 1 hour a week, is great as is "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me . . ." I also get "Fresh Air," but am selective about which guests I want to hear. Terry Gross is one of the best interviewers ever.
Holli
P.S. My son made it through the first night of sleep away camp without me getting a call. Yeah!
I found this Brian K Vaughan video where he talks about Lost.
If this is true they better have awesome extras.
Holli
Even more Brian K. Vaughn.

** possible season 4 spoilers **
the new Jay and Jack podcast references an interview with Michael Emerson where he suggests that only Jack and Kate got off the island and everyone else was forced to remain behind. That would certainly explain why Jack is so distraught and eager to get back to the island. It makes Kate a total bitch though.
If it's really the present at the end of the finale then that means that the rest of the Losties were fending for themselves for 3 year. Considering how much happened to them in the months shown on the show so far, they could have gone through some major shit.
andrew.
As always, i'm happy to be surprised by the writers.
andrew.
i like the idea that jack wants to go back to the island to save the rest of the LOSTies. but i like the idea that jack wants to go back to the Island because IslandLife was somehow preferable to RealWorldLife even more. maybe he's come to find out that Locke was right all along?

In a world where people still make web pages like they did in the 1990s: www.monsterpig.com
I enjoyed the Negative comments section
My favorite part of that webpage is the fact it's sponsored by cookersandgrills.com.
Holli
That website is pretty funny to look at, it's like going back in time! The Negative Comments are hilarious, love the blacked out letters. As if we have never read profanity on a website before. Apparently they've never been here.
Brian K Vaughan is foreign to me, but if you guys like him so much why dont you pick up a comic book that he likes? sorry, i am plugging Madman again. its a really neat book
lol it would be scary if you want sat on the beach minding your own business as such, and that came charging at you out of the jungle, id like to see locke jump on that and slit is throat
KABLAMO!
i was listening to the podcast last night ralph and you mad it sound good. So now im trying to pick up a copy of the internet, that ships to the uk. Not really into comic books and all but thought ill give it a go
nice kablamonating, ralph.
how screwed up are some of those negative comments? yeesh!
personally, guns scare the hell out of me and i wouldn't take an eleven year old out to do battle with a giant boar armed with a hand gun. but some of those naysayers are crazy.
crazy and hilarious.
There's some general spoilerish information here.
Nothing specific ... just some basics about the structure of next season and things like that. It also contradicts what Michael Emerson said in his interview. I wasn't even sure if I should label this a spoiler or not... don't know if it's possible to remain completely in the dark about things like this for 8 months.
that'd be very cool. i'd be glad to have that be the case, trevor.
Holli
I can still red card, right?
I red card Cingular or the new At&t and any other company that refuses to allow you to talk to a human being when you need support. Pisses me off.
Steph, check out this site. It's a list of how to quickly get to a human being for about 500 different companies.
Get Human
p.s. Thanks to all who suggested some podcasts ... I've got some nice options now for the looooong break ahead...
Thanks, Trevor. I WAS in line in a chatroom to get my question answered. Why do they not wan tus to call? They try to keep their phone numbers from us.
Thanks for the tip, Trevor. That should come in handy when we get pissed and we want to talk to (or yell at) a human being.
Hope your happy ralph just ordered madman issue #1
i like that these places that clearly don't want you talking to their people take the time to create these weird backdoors into their systems to get people.
I've talked to a human being when I had trouble with my cingular phone
Jon, I don't know where you got the number. I couldn't find it.
That's like iTunes. No instructions, no support. You have to search the internet for a way to talk to someone. Service is a joke. "We're so cool, we don't need to please the customer."
Well I went to a store and they gave me a number, then I called and helped me out.
Thanks Trevor and Andrew for keeping an eye out for forward-looking info!
Bloglove!
Otherwise, I usually don't miss Harry Shearer's le show for some low-key funnies, or Left, Right, and Center for political discussion.
i need to be doing some graphic design stuff but it's super hot and i'm slacking. so...
iPod Shuffle:
* Cypress Hill - Hole In The Head
the 1st Cypress Hill album is an underappreciated classic.
*Mystic Knights Of The Oingo Boingo - 2001 (Live At The Aquarius Theater 1978)
I know Ralph shares some love for Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo. This is where the internet is amazing. I never thought i'd get to hear a show from when Oingo Boingo was the performance theatre troupe led by Richard Elfman before they became the new wave pop group that had all of the 80's hits.
*JFA - Preppy
The quintessential skate punk group.
*Dos - 'Til The Blood Ran
I played bass in highschool and Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE...) was one of my biggest heroes. Dos is him and his ex-wife Kira (Black Flag) playing bass together. They're both amazing bassists and get really surprising, beautiful sounds out of their thunder*brooms.
*Bush Babees - The Love Song
One of the early outings for Mos Def, this album is a nice summation of all of the elements that made the golden era of hiphop so great; deep, jazzy production, playful lyrics and dynamic deliveries. This is a popular song with the ladies.
*Geinoh Yamashirogumi - Akira: Symphonic Suite - Exodus From The Underground
One of my favorite soundtracks.
*Paulette & Tanya Winley - I Believe In The Wheel Of Fortune
A lot of pre-1988 hiphop leaves me cold, but Paulette & Tanya Winley always sound like they're having fun and a lot of their rapid-fire puns are really clever.
XSteel CurtainX - The Curtain
Ha ha. Pittsburgh grind-punk band that only plays songs dedicated to the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's pretty awesome actually. This isn't going to show up in anyone else's shuffle.
Iris Dement - Hide Thou Me
Iris might not have the most beautiful voice in the world, but she more than makes up for it with brilliant songwriting and heart. I steer clear of most country, but good music is good music.
andrew.
Hey everyone,
apologies - I just realized Coulton's website tries to auto-launch iTunes when you click on the pop-sci podcast link.
Holli
Tim - just music obsessive my whole life. Most of my money is tied up in records.
MB (is Mac really General Grievous? just how deep does this conspiracy go?) thanks for the podcast link.
looked up Dominic Monaghan in IMDB. His slate looks pretty clean other than a movie about him as graverobber which was in pre-production in 2006. I hope he continues to find success.
andrew.
if you can catch up with aimee in one wednesday night, you will earn my eternal respect.
My goal is not so lofty. It's merely to follow lamely in her wake.
Holli
Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! I just realized it's the first non-lost day in about 16 weeks. I am so sad!! I can't get away from it either. I listen to a ton of podcasts and they all mention lost somehow. What's freaky is sometimes when I'm listening to TLI or The Lar or Jay and Jack in my car, a bus will pull up next to me with a Lost promotion on the side of it. Although it's old 'cause it still said Lost Wednesdays at 9/8c on it, but it was still weird.
cue Holli.
KABLAMO!
Holli
Thanks Palmer. From the FARK site you posted earlier:
84% pass Canadian literacy test... which is almost three quarters I guess that wasn't math literacy. Kim will be so proud.
Holli
team work!
is it wrong that i made sure to book only seats that were "Numbers" for my trip this summer?
8, 15, 16, and then 15 again cuz 23 was taken (and sucky).
Should you want the numbers or to avoid the numbers?
Holli
Yeah Canada!
i figure that all our Losties were in the "Numbers" and they lived through the crash. right?
Read it more carefully Kim.
Holli
I apologize to Canada. The bad math was the blogger's American contribution.
Holli
Andrew - excellent idea - haven't done a shuffle in a while -
1. Doctor Who - The Stone Rose (Part 19) - yes, I am enough of a Who-nerd to be listening to the audiobooks.
2. Oh Darling! - the Beatles (Abbey Road)
Paul at his raspy-finest. I enjoy the "Long and Winding Road" side of McCartney - but this is the McCartney that I love.
3. Minnie's Yoo-Hoo - the Disney Chorus
I'll just let the jokes simmer...
(P.S. in case it's not clear - this in on the iPod for my daughter)
4. Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel (Hit/1st album)
Overplayed as it may be at times - it still always makes me smile
5. She Loves You - The Beatles (Anthology 1)
I know not everyone was into them, but the Anthology discs made these older tracks interesting to me again.
6. Robbery, Assault, and Battery - Genesis (A Trick of the Tail)
Kick Ass album! Right after Peter Gabriel left the band - they proved they were going to be just fine. If you've only heard 80s Genesis (which I am a fan of - yes even Invisible Touch), take a listen to this to be plunged head first into a completely different Genesis than you're used to. It rocks.
7. Danny's Song - Loggins & Messina (Sittin' In)
This song has family memories for me - used to pretend to sing it to my Mom in our living room.
8. Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who (Who's Next)
I guess this is the Classic Rock mix. Gotta be one of the greatest rock albums of all time. It just explodes with energy - they're at the top of their form here IMO
9. Morning Glory - Oasis (What's the Story...)
I have a knack for getting into bands about 10 years after they're "hot"
10. Pink Flamingos - Strength in Numbers (The Telluride Sessions)
This album is pure gold. Classic new grass revival stuff - 5 guys, 10 songs, let the virtuosity wash over you.
Again... Yeah Canada!
Here's my shufffle for today:
1. Fix You - Coldplay (awesome, because it's one of my favourite song of all time)
2. Kissing You - Des'ree
3. Everybody's Changind - Keane
4. By Your Side - Sade
5. In Your Eyes (Acoustic) - Ben Harper
6. Unchained Melody - The Richeous Brothers
7. Losing My Religion - REM
8. Run It - Chris Brown
9. Walk Away - Kelly Clarkson
10. Come Away With Me - Norah Jones
11. Last Night Ever - Jarvis Church
12. You Only Live Once - The Strokes
Andrew - It's been awhile since I watched Revenge of the Sith - does Grievous sound like a Mac (or am I not understanding your ref)?
My shuffle...
If i remember right, he sounded kind of like Mac after a long night of smoking (which isn't a good look for computers)
nice shuffles. more points for associated embarassing stories.
andrew.
andrew, apparently you're not a big enough nerd. MB's icon is a Cyberman from the new seasons of Doctor Who.
/the nerd is strong with me

7)Let's Go Crazy- Prince
8)Rock Your Body- Justin Timberlake
9)Get Up Stand UP- Bob Marley
10)Can't Get Next To You- The Temptations
Holli
This is definitely the scariest and funniest video I've watched all week.
Holli
each to his/ her own Holli. so I'll let that Dylan comment slide ;)
Holli, that clip is so depressing. I tried to find the humor in it, but when you see the poor kid saying, "Mom, I don't want to do this..." Sad.
And, she wound up looking like a freak at the end! Nobody thinks that a little girl who looks like George Hamilton is cute!
Holli
I hate the majority of American Society now. We want kids to look like teenagers, that(while underage) smoke, drink, and do drugs. I just loves parents like that!!! Oh boy next week I want to see Extreme Makeover: Elementary Edition! I think we have found why our literacy rating sucks as compared to other countries. HORRAY AMERICA! I LOVE AMERICA!
Palmer - thanks for the Dr. Who assist! lol
Andrew - good pull on the similarity between a Cyberman and Grievous - I hadn't noticed that b4
The Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana
Quality Control - Jurrasic 5
Lady Stardust - Seu Jorge
Nothing Better - The Postal Service
How Blue Can You Get? - BB King
A Love Supreme, Pt 1 - John Coltrane
Girls Talk - Elvis Costello
Healthy Body - Operation Ivy
Little Moon - Norah Jones
The Chase, Pt 2 - A Tribe Called Qwest
That bestweekever.com clip is hard to watch. What a mom.
Damn it, I just found out that Season Three of Lost won't come out till December 11th!
Holli - that video was awful, especially the way the little girl's survival instinct kicked in, 'mom, i don't want to do this,' only to be airbrushed out.
MB - i totally made that mistake on purpose, just trying to keep you on your toes.
andrew.
The Man Who Sold The World.....great effin tune.
Holli
*watches in anticipation*

*pastpablo throws it to futureally*
KABLAMO!!!

well, now i feel like a jerk. didn't read that you were setting up futureally!

there you go, brotha! ;)
it's cool palmer, that was funny, we were trying to beat Holli to it. No offense Holli, we love ya lol too funny
*tousles Ally's hair and calls her "Sport"* there's always tomorrow....
come on palmer! keep what's rightfully yours! i can KABLAMO any day.
yeah you earned it, palmer.
Funny stuff. I was willing to let this one go since I got 69. That's what they both said.
Holli
good one, holli
I can't see the video, Websense is the bomb. I assume it's a stagemom pushing her young daughter into something she's not into or ready for. Jonjon, try finding age-appropriate clothes in a department store these days for a 8 year-old girl. You can't find anything that doesn't look like a prostitute.
Jurrasic 5 - I haven't heard them since '99
[turns to the magic box....]
I think my best moment was getting 108 on finale night
Jon, you need a life. Yeah, this coming from me.
Red card the forest fires of Georgia that are smoking up our air.
I'm hurt Stephsmith, I'm hurt
any rain forecast Steph?
I'm not English at all, talking about the weather (!)
Every time Jim Halpert looks directly into the camera...CHUG

i'm hurt for you, jon jon. that's pretty brutal.
I've been getting constant rain in Dallas this week
I second that Red Card. What a deuchebag!
OK Palmer, how do you keep cutting in front of me? It's like neither one of us will post for a while and then we post at the same time. That's semi-creepy.

What do I win?
You beat me Steph. You win my admiration.
Holli
That is reward enough, Holli.
Sperm Dumpster? How vile.
OK it's officially apocalyptically dark and raining hard, over here!
funny clip
heheheheheh. yes, steph, the beginning of that clip was what i was thinking of.
so, you are...
today's...
WALKER, TEXAS RANGER OF THE WORLD WIDE WEB!
when others failed to get the job done, you stepped up and brought justice and liberty to the interwebs. because of you, the information superhighway is safer than it was the day before.
Steph, you ever read Tom Wolfe's "I Am Charlotte Simmons"? A bunch of young women are refered to as "Cum Dumpsters" by the frat boys, on atleast a couple of ocassions. Needless to say, good read.
Steph, you should be proud of yourself for bringing "justice and liberty to the interwebs'.
I recommend that Tom wolfe book too. Goodnight all!
Uhh, no. The only reason I know Tom Wolfe is because he was on The Simpsons once.
needless to say "Cum Dumpster" is a disgusting term, but it's pretty much analogous to a lot of the crap they put on girls' clothing now.
lots of trashy looking clothing with lots of trashy logos and slogans on them.
whatever happened to mismatched socks and multi-colored denim jackets?
Or what about tight pants legs and big hair.
Zack is the original Jim Halpert.
It says 150 posts for me.
Ok, it's saying 150 for me now.
we're at 150 steph.
Since I'm almost finished with the Chins book, I was thinking about buying Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way. Maybe we can send it all over the country also.
glad to see we're all paying attention. LOL.
I'm really at my wits end peoples. I'm thinking about jumping out of my 20th floor office here in LA. If you guys see anything on the news tonight, say hi.
what's the point anymore?, please don't do it. Everyone's special and all that garbage. And besides that, it may hurt.
ok, so my bowling buddy from elementary school has racked up 128,100 dollars on jeopardy. that's pretty snazzy.
and WhatsThePointAnymore, if you're serious, click here or call 1.800.SUICIDE
besides new episodes of LOST in February.
So what exactly has put you at "wit's end?" I hope it's something that can be resolved without jumping from a 20th floor.
I walked in on my wife sleeping with another man today during my lunch break. And work is increasingly stressful.
And why should YOU be the one to suffer? I say justifiable homocide.
Damn, that's messed up!
Dude, you're essentially single. Rock on!!!
i just read in the last thread you guys talking about changing this to a message board.
Check this out
That's sad.
The only reason I go to Jay and Jack is to connect with friends. I don't discuss Lost there. I do that here.
anyone not stink at CivIV and want to point me in a direction of non-suckitude?
p.s. LOOOOOOOST!!!
This, p? I have no idea.
yeah. there are about 8 or 10 difficulty levels and i think i'm about to finally win on a map on the third easiest difficulty... :\
I gave up those hard-ass games a long time ago. Might have to come out of retirement when Starcraft II comes out though.
Is "What's the point anymore?" still here?
I just read those posts, and I'm a little worried.
No mid-week piece from Jimmy?
-J
yeah, hopefully, if that dude was serious, he contacted someone at the number i provided earlier in the thread.
I'm sure it was just someone having a little fun with us. I doubt this is the place anyone would come to share that kind of misery.
Maybe it was the host of GSPN, and all of the negative feedback has finally pushed him over the edge.
Guess I know what's on my Xmas List.
Holli
argh!!! that's a long wait. in the meantime, i'll have to teach my cats to recreate scenes from season 3 or something.
oh. how hard does the smoke munster suck? remember when it was totally badass and killed Eko? yeah, Eko told Locke and company that it said "you're next" or some such. well, what the hell has the smoke munster done since? not a hell of a lot. it watched while Nikki and Paolo used knockout spiders on each other (maybe) and it sexually harassed kate and juliet in the jungle. other than that, it's been pretty tame and loserish.
the smoke munster needs to get its groove back. let's see it kill some logcarryingguys or something.
Maybe I just need to pick up a Harlequin Romance.
I need to read the Chins book
I'm just getting around of watching the OLP Video podcast. Nice how they got gratuitous muddy Kate and Juliet in it.
And Palmer, you better watch your back, calling Smokey out like that.
Steph, I like your photo.
Holli
holli, Smokey needs some Tough Love. sometimes, you've got to call out your friends on their shortcomings so they can commit to making a needed change. Smokey needs to make the change into a ravenous, bloodthirsty, instrument of death. and quick.
What keeps me motivated, Holli, is that you read it in two weeks and Brooklyn read in in three. I'm sure Aimee read it in .5 weeks.
Speaking of the fast-reading, absent Aimee, she recommends The Chin's other book. Where is Aimee? Is she in Toronto? Is that the big mystery?
Holli
definitely miss Aimee. hopefully, she'll be back and better than ever soon. if that's even possible.
She's gone for auditions in Hawaii to get into the fourth Season of Lost, she's going to play the part of Claire's hair.
Steph,
in your profile picture, you've got a real Nigella Lawson thing going on!
Aimee's hair is far superior to any hair on LOST. They should come to Little Rock for tips.
Holli
i dunno, holli. i like jack's hair.
/same do it yourself haircut
But it can't hold a candle to Aimee's.
Holli
too true. :(
my hair does not compare
it is no fair
i'll need a wig
like old Goth Claire
Love the pic Steph!
yes, really ;)
This is what I was trying to say.
What a compliment, jellyman. I think we both have the mediterranean look going on.
Jordan, I'm glad you like it.
yeah, baby!
Here's an interesting article on the science of the finale. It proves without a doubt that Sayid is one bad mother . . . Shut yo mouth.
