Don't you people have turkey bacon? must you really have bacon turkeys?

watched the new "The Prisoner." expected to not like it but it was pretty good. good use of Beach Boys songs. that's for sure.

The only knowledge I have of The Prisoner is this from my adolescence

Wow! What a crazy game, eh? The Montreal Alouettes came back from WAY behind in the 4th quarter on a last minute field goal to win the Grey Cup. They totally deserved to win, they were the best team all year--despite my dislike for them. Quite the rally for a CFL game. The Saskatchewan Roughriders were dominating that entire game, only to lose it on a stupid penalty with 4 seconds left. The entire Rider Nation is sad. Larks win 28-27! Sorry to the Green Army.

*crickets*

LOL...Alirio? Back me up?

Kim!

I'm in Calabogie, Ontario at a resort enjoying my first Christmas of the year with family and I was glued to the TV last night.

I thought the Als were going to spank the Riders and take it by 30 points at least, but there they were... Choking in the big game once again.

Seriously! Too many men on the field? It was the most exciting CFL game in years. Parade in downtown Montreal this week :-)

'Sup Blogspot?

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, or Thursday, as the case may be. We were at my sister's in Baton Rouge. We ate a ton. Po Boys, Oysters, awesome sweets. That town has more bakeries than Paris.

So show of hands, how many of you has your tree up for Xmas? I will by this time next week, but it won't happen 'til this weekend.

Any ETA on the arrival of the Losties?

Holli

PalmerEldritch said...

we picked out a tree and tagged it. we'll borrow a truck and cut the sucker down sometime in the next week or two.

oh, CFL. you wacky northerners. speaking of wacky northerners, do you canadians know who Sue Johanson is? used to giggle at her "loveline but with an old lady" show during college.

how long do you all have your christmas trees up for each year?

also, it's officially the Christmas Season because Boney M christmas music was playing on the radio yesterday. w00t!

memphish said...

Our tree is coming down the day after Xmas because we're going out of town the week between Xmas and New Year's. Growing up we always had it down before New Year's. The old wives' tale was it was bad luck otherwise, but probably it was just so people wouldn't burn their house down due to a dried out tree.

Hey blogspot, is there a good place to buy SD or SDHC cards at a good price kind of like that place to buy cheap HDMI cables?

I got my tree up today. Not very concerned about when I'll take it down. An artificial tree is rather disappointing after having a real tree for years. I got tired of waiting for Big Ed to bring a real one home and went out and got a small pre-lit one. It's kinda wimpy compared to the largest on the lot he used to bring home.
I now have wireless in my home. I can now tweet and post at the blogspot from the bathtub if I wanted. I'm so excited. Santa's getting me a laptop. I will be able to record podcasts from the front porch. Thrilling!

t-dot kim said...

What are Po Boys?

"Sex with Sue", yes everyone knows Sue Johanson.

Holli, I'm not sure where to get SDs at a good price in the US...however if you're ever in Canada I can hook you up :P

As for the Losties, after we re-watch season 5

PalmerEldritch said...

ralph-, that's how rich trump is. every day, a new bacon wrapped turkey on his head.

holli, dont know a good place for those cards. maybe someone else does?

kim, po' boys are sub sammiches. often with fish, i guess. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Po%27_boy

i'm glad someone else knows about Sex with Sue. fucking hilarious show. literally. with the dolls and the reviews by her tv crew. awesome. was trying to explain the show to someone the other day.

speaking of, posted a Boney M song (Mary's Boy Child) on my facebook page to celebrate the christmas spirit, only to discover about five hours later that the clip in question for some reason had illustrated kama sutra entries popping up on the screen like the feed on a news channel. not sure why but its pretty damned funny that nobody noticed for that long.

yeesh...

** 18+ part of the post **
but, yeah, if your favorite part of christmas is stuffing the stockings and waiting for santa to come down the chimney, this clip is for you. kind of not safe for work due to the poses of the dolls.

scrdmnkydst said...

hahaha omg. that clip is from an old uk music channel. after 9pm usually they'd do this texting thing where people text in theirs and someone elses name and it would bring up a pose for them on screen. pretty funny if you're using it for music while getting drunk...

Po Boys are sandwiches with meat on French Bread. It can be most any kind of meat. My sister likes Roast Beef with Gravy. My kid has had ham. I like oyster and shrimp. Then you can choose to have them "dressed" which means with mayo or sauce, lettuce, tomato and sometimes pickle and onion.

We got ours at Rocco's.

I like Po Boy's from Doodle's.

That youtube video was very educational.

I need a new memory card for my camera. I guess using the same area over and over damages the card.

I'm in the market for a 32" Sony HDTV in 1080p. Where's the best place to look?

Hey blog friends. What's up? Back in Seattle after 3 weeks traveling around this fine country of ours. In a bit of recoup mode for the time being. But once I get the chance, I'm going to go back and read all the posts and conversation that I missed (doesn't look like too much btw :P) and will accordingly comment where I feel warranted. Did everyone get enough food shoved down their gullets over the holliday?

My company used to do some of the text-in things on that The Hits channel. Specifically "Ask the DJ" fr music trivia and Random Wrestling where people texted in two names and we'd have to work out the winner.

Some of my colleagues were really lazy with it, just saying "Keith runs rings around Susan and emerges victorious" but I would at least try to have a REASON why one person would beat another.

Yes, that esteemed gentlemen lives 30 minutes from me. My sister-in-law who is a firm Obama voter is unlikely to be his Facebook friend.

memphish said...

To clarify, my sister-in-law lives in Arlington. I do have to say that I thought Obama was a fool to interrupt Charlie Brown Xmas, but why dude didn't know that his President was giving a speech before he turned on his TV, that I can't account for. At least Obama didn't delay the return of Better Off Ted.

it would have been awesome if he interrupted charlie brown just to show off the white house christmas tree.

I almost threw my remote at my tv to stop this incredibly obnoxious Gap commercial. Although I'm sure the High School Musical/Glee crowd loves it.

This is actually a product. I saw the commercial on tv the other night and thought it was a joke. Seriously, who would by a hat that you can put your ipod in? That said, I'm sure it will be the next Snuggie.

Brennan, St. Louis was interesting. I stayed pretty much around downtown. So I got to experience the city via mass transit, which was different from what I'm used to here in Seattle. Also got to accidentally walk through an authentic down home angry white republican, "We're mad as hell!" Give us back our country!" rally. Filled with all the crazy characters, including this guy. Yeesh. But the best thing of it all was this mobile sign that was circling the event. lol. Besides the football game, which was fun, went to a hockey game, up the arch, and to the zoo. I'm sure there's an entirely different side of the city that I didn't really see. But downtown and the touristy stuff, I know all about it.

t-dot kim said...

So...

I guess no one cares that I almost got into a fight? lol

Jordan said...

Not exactly that surprising...

Jordan,

I should have told you to check out The Hill, which is the little Italy area here. Lots of great food and bakeries and it's pretty close to downtown.

Anyway, it sounds/looks like you met some hoosiers. Don't ask me, when I first moves to St Louis I was confused by the use of hoosiers.

PalmerEldritch said...

i care, kim. and i want to hear all about it. especially if you avoided the fight by ninja kicking someone.

Jordan, I love the little girls Gap commercial! It makes me wish I was still shopping in that section. And also back then I could make Morgan wear colors.

PalmerEldritch said...

LOST season 5 DVDs out tomorrow in the US?

t-dot kim said...

...and Canada

I'm probably getting it first thing tomorrow morning after work. I'm pretty excited as this will be my first LOST Blu-ray purchase.

How was everyone's weekend. It was pretty slow for me. I even wrote out a list of things-to-do, but did absolutely nothing on THE LIST.

PalmerEldritch said...

Not surprising.

Yeah TDot, tell us about the fight and how much you hate Americans. :P

Steph, people in 'Bama must be giddy with the Tide in the championship game. Are you able to parlay the prevailing good mood any way for personal gain?

Jordan, you would not believe these Alabama fans. I don't even know how to describe it. Everyone here are Bama fans. It's like religion: the Father, the Son and Bear Bryant.
How can I gain from it?

Morgan and I watched the first hour of Alice last night and lost interest. She looks very young in the commercials. Turns out she's a young woman and not a teen as I was expecting.

Jordan - Metallica + Kazoos = Primo entertainment! This remains one of my all time favorites, though... Boo Ben Konop!

Palmer - Thanks for the heads up on the Blu-Ray deal. I've been meaning to pick up Seasons 1 - 3 on BR, but didn't want to spend the money. As soon as I saw this I was two greedy fists in, though! You can't beat $20 a season for BR. Now I have an extra Season 4 on BR, but I'm gonna take it to the local record store and see what I can get in store credit. I'll end up getting even more goodies out of this deal yet!

Let the Season 5 rewatch begin!

On a completely unrelated note... why the hell did Flashforward finally decide to get interesting right before they go on a 3 month hiatus? So pissed...

PalmerEldritch said...

nice, joe. i didnt pick it up since i already have three and four on blu-ray. but nice to know that someone saved some cash!

snow day. ugh. snow days are great when you're young. but once it's you shoveling/snowblowing the driveway, clearing off the cars, raking the roof, and then going back to work and catching up the next day, snow days kind of suck.

Jordan said...

I recently caught up with FlashForward and V. Gotta say that FF is doing it a good deal more for me than V. FF still isn't anything profound. But it's at least something new and interesting. Where as V, while only 4 eps, has been very predictible and nothing special. I haven't seen the original, yet I could see everything coming a mile away. Not to mention the stiff writing that I don't think most of the actors buy. And the post-pilot production values look more like a SyFy made for tv movie than a primetime drama on the same network as LOST. Hopefully the new showrunner who takes over when the show returns in the spring can fix some of that stuff, cuz it's a decent premise. He's already talked about wanting to up the excitement and pacing. And yeah, annoying in both cases that they won't return til the spring. In other words, come back LOST!

memphish said...

Take everything Jordan said and reverse FF and V and you have what I think about the 2. I haven't seen the last episode of FF, but I think the writing and acting on FF is crap. The biggest problem is I don't give a rat's ass about any of the characters and whether or not any of their FFs are true, changeable, what have you. They should all dive off a building and put us out of our misery.

And I'll admit, V does have a pretty high cheese factor. The way they've made the ships look doesn't bother me at all. I think that unlike FF, V has done a good job of building suspense and paying it off. Maybe I'm just in the mood to be easily amused by actors and characters I do like, but if I had to choose between the two I'd take V by a landslide.

Holli

John V. Holder III said...

Agree with holli...I don't even know what any of the characters names are on FF. Seriously. I couldn't care less about them.

Geez, why does LOST have to be so awesome and ruin most other TV shows for me?

JonFromNKY said...

Neither V nor FF are doing it for me thus far. Bring back LOST and Breaking Bad. Maybe there will be something that catches my eye that's off of my radar. I still haven't watched any Mad Men yet, maybe I'll start.

On a different note, my 4 year old son is addicted to LOST now for some reason. He's been vicariously exposed since he was in the womb so I guess it's just natural for him to be a LOST junkie like dad.

OH YEAH! Has anyone else seen the trailer for Clash of the Titans yet? It's pretty bad ass.

Stephanie said...

"Geez, why does LOST have to be so awesome and ruin most other TV shows for me?"

That's exactly how I feel. Lost has raised the bar to a height few shows can live up to. FlashForward definitely doesn't do it. I wish my DVR would stop recording it. I'm not watching. V is fun. I forgive it's flaws.

Glee. Wow!

Who's going to win So You Think You Can Dance? Jakob?

memphish said...

I'm pulling for Russell on SYTYCD. Jakob is amazing, but the fact they keep choreographing opportunities for him to leap and move his legs in unnatural positions despite the fact that he's dancing a waltz is annoying me. I'm really unhappy with the results last night. It was clearing a voting bloc's doing and not based on dancing or personality.
